Lemon juice with meals will eliminate the symptoms of stomach acidity and indigestion.

Acid reflux or GERD (gastro-esophageal reflux disease) is rarely due to “too much” stomach acid. Yes, contrary to mass advertising, antacids are bad for you and actually lead to stomach cancer.

Proton pump inhibitors like the “purple pill” block the digestive process, i.e., the body’s production of stomach hydrochloric acid and pepsin.

      yes bottled lemon juice works or use two tea spoons of cider (not distilled) vinegar in four oz. of water i like braggs with the sediment

        +1 for the Bragg’s Apple cider Vinegar with the sediment, or “mother” as I’ve heard it called before. A table spoon of it in a 4-6 oz. glass of water at least 15 minutes a meal aids tremendously in healthy digestion. I USED to suffer from acid reflux, but don’t anymore, thanks to using this natural remedy. Speaking of lemon juice I’ve read more than one article from independent labs that have shown lemon juice to be up to 10,000 times more effective in killing many cancer cells than chemotherapy.

    You said acid is not the cause, so how is lemon juice going to help? I’d rather use something that works and eventually gives me cancer than use something that does not and have heartburn all day, everyday. If you do not have GERD, shut the hell up. Lemon juice will not help.

      Thank you for your insightful comments which do nothing than let us all know that you obviously didn’t read the whole article, but are one of these people who “know it all” or perhaps work for a drug company and don’t want to see sales drop. your ignorance and closed mind is evident to all.

      Lemon juice is an acid but it turns to alkaline in the stomach. For Blood type A this IS the useful solution. See the Blood type book for your blood type by Dr, Peter J. D’ Adamo. There is a 94 page pocket book to take along to the grocery store. If you are Type A DO NOT use apple cider! Our system CANNOT take all of that acid because our stomach does not have enough acid to break down cider, bakery, sugar, hot peppers, pop etc.. The other responsible thing you should be doing is limiting the foods that cause the indigestion!! Take responsibility for your health. You must digest your food properly to gain the benefits of the vitamin and mineral absorption in your gut. Read people Read. Do you think the doctors and the pharma are going to help or protect you.

      sam, do you have a problem that you want to eliminate, or do you enjoy whizzing on everyone around you because it’s an old habit? Some people don’t want to get better, especially if there’s effort or thinking involved.
      You sound like a teen who expects everything on your terms. America being what it is [a country where we’re supposed to believe everything an MD tells us, everything the media tells or shows us, and somehow we should be happy).
      When it comes to medical help, there are mainly two camps. The first camp takes the easy way (I learned everything I need to know in medical school), and the second camp learns from experience (and knows that medical school is not staffed by infallible geniuses and not all of those folks are ‘scientists’).
      You could at least try lemon juice. If it doesn’t help, BFD. If it helps, then you might have a little light bulb turn on inside that thick head of yours. Be an adult, or be a frickin’ Pavlov dog, sam.

    This is another of those easy to fix problems that our medical (“disease generation”) system is incapable of fixing due to its tunnel-vision attitude to chemical answers for EVERYTHING that ails us. These assinine attitudes result in multiple secondary and tertiary effects requiring more and worse, costly interventions, intrusions and damage to peoples’ lives.
    In most cases of stomach contents’ regurgitation into the lower end of the esophagus one should consider muscle spasms in the diaphragm, the muscular sheet at the base of the lung cavity, as a most reasonable cause. Any muscle in the body can develop spastic malfunction which keeps it in a constant state of relative contraction. The diaphragm is no exception. If it can not relax as it should, stress on the stomach’s upper sphincter results which keeps the sphincter open.
    If the sphincter can not completely constrict the upper opening to the stomach reflux of food and acid will occur back up into the esophagus when the stomach mixxes food in it. The consequence is an acid burn to the esophagus – “heartburn” and eventually GERD.
    There is a simple, safe massage approach to this known among “Trigger Point Technique” therapists which causes more normal relaxation of the diaphragm. This relaxation then allows complete closure of the upper stomach sphincter which stops the “heartburn” and GERD. The esophagus heals and a cure is effected (until or unless the diaphragm spasms recur – which is likely until the Phrenic Nerves in the neck are treated by a competent Chiropractor). Muscle-relaxer potions are generally useless to stop this kind of chronic muscle spasticity. Antacids are, also, only a symptomatic treatment which can not treat the cause of GERD.
    The muscle therapy is uncomfortable, briefly, while it is being done. But, the consequences of not doing it become far, far worse.

      Mike….Thanks for your very informative post. I’m not opposed to trying lemon juice and apple cider vinegar as a help also, but totally believe in the healing benefits of chiropractic medicine. My chiropractor has cured my bulging disc and kept it from blowing…also saved me from the 3 weeks in traction and months of being on muscle relaxer medications and pain medications….with only 3 visits! He’s amazing and I recommend him to everyone I meet. He also diagnosed my shingles when my medical doctor took an additional 3 weeks to concur and he diagnosed my high blood pressure (when I went to him thinking my symptoms were perhaps a pinched nerve). I’ll definitely talk to him about this also and hope to not have to resort to any more of the antacids.

    How does lemon juice cure a hernia? Specifically, how does lemon juice heal a hiatal hernia?

      Richard – If you are of the opinion that a hiatal hernia is the only cause of acid reflux or GERD your education is grossly inadequate. You ought to do a little research to learn how often surgery for this fails. Then, ask yourself the obvious question.

        I’m not of the opinion that a hiatal hernia is the only cause of acid reflux or GERD. I am of the opinion that it is one cause of it. I happen to suffer from a hiatal hernia, diagnosed by fluoroscopic examination. It runs in my family. Proton pump inhibitors revolutionized my life, greatly increasing my quality of life. As for lemon juice, my doctors told me decades earlier to avoid it; at the time, they though I had ulcers.

    have been using both apple cider vinager & fresh lemons for years. Never get heartburn. Used to get it quite often before using lemon & vinager.
    All you nay sayers & pill poppers keep on doing what you are doing. It don’t matter to me if you kill yourself making the dope pushers rich. If you’re too dumb or to lazy to do some research & open up your closed mind there is a whole other world out there beside the one the that hooks you on lifetime dope usage.

    Interesting, thank you. I have been using honey and vinigar in hot water every morning instead of coffee. Was drinking way more coffee than I should. Someone told me honey and vinigar was good for you so thought I would give it a try. I used to have to take one or two tums every night at bedtime. I had noticed that I was not in need of the tums for the last few months but did not connect the use of honey and vinigar until now. Guess what, it does work.

    Good info, I’m willing to try all of the above–Just about had a heart attack today at a restaurant Pain in my chest so bad vomited three times. Just paid for an expensive meal in which I only ate two bites. This has happened before and since I’m allergic to doctors, I can use all the help from real people that I can get.

    Drinking fresh lemonade with ginger in the morning is an exceptional digestive aid. This reminds me about it, and I’ll have to start drinking it again.

    To Steve: you might want to visit a doctor your symptoms could very well be heart related and not stomach.
