Law to allow death penalty without trial?

June 8, 2009 by

Law to allow death penalty without trial?Media reports have suggested the Obama administration is considering a law which would permit detainees to plead guilty in death penalty cases without full trial.

According to the New York Times, the law would apply to military commissions at the Guantanamo Bay prison in Cuba.

It further adds the provision could permit military prosecutors to avoid details of controversial interrogations techniques that have been officially banned since President Obama took office earlier this year.

Predictably, the proposal, which has not been officially announced, has drawn criticism from legal experts.

"This unfortunately strikes me as an effort to get rid of the problem in the easiest way possible, which is to have those people plead guilty and presumably be executed," said David Glazier, an associate professor at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, quoted by the NYT.

The administration has so far declined to answer questions about whether any decisions have been made.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs has only commented that the President’s goal has been to improve the military commissions to ensure due process as well as "swift and certain" justice, the AP has reported.

i believe in death penalty 100%. murderers with imidiate evidence should be put to death.they send to to get evaluated to see if they are in their right mind ha! they know how to beat the system. they spent years in prison ,have rights, good food, roof over their heads, gyms, and the victims and family suffering for their loss and thats mental abuse for an idiot that destroyed a family.here they are in court with a smile on their face,no remorse, while the families are heartbroken.

My, oh my! This infallible, god-like administration now has a use for the death penalty? I thought these people were deathly afraid of having a use for the death penalty because it’s SOOOOO MEAN-SPIRITED, UNFAIR, PREJUDICED, CRUEL AND UNUSUAL (regardless of the method), UNDEMOCRATIC, UNCONSTITUTIONAL, UNAMERICAN and SOCIALLY UNJUST.
The very idea that the new pres has made a monumental ‘change’ in this approach says a great deal about moral standards and how those standards can ‘change.’ Welcome to the club, libs. Enjoy the
hot seat. It was a long time in coming! Set ‘em up, bartender!

Now this one has me scratching my head! I am beginning to get confused with this administration. On the one hand, we need to forgive and be NICE to our enemies so they will in turn be nice and sweet to us. We don’t even use that dirty word “terrorist”any more. But on the other hand, Just plead guilty and get on with the death sentence! ?

I to support the death penalty. For all it’s worth, it dose deter crime.

This is a real surprise. Obama just told the FBI they have to read ‘high value’ terrorists captured in Afghanistan ‘their’ Miranda Rights. Please, they are not U.S. citizens and therefore do not have the rights of a U.S.citizen, they’re prisoners of war and should get no more rights than those provided provided the Geneva Convention. Then again, if they aren’t in military uniform, can’t they be executed?

Seems someone or group has something to hide possibly!!!
After the first bombing of the Twin Towers, the CIA , FBI and our military searched the world over untill they found the Bombers. The FBI brought them back to our soil and they were prosecuted in a U.S federal courtroom and convicted. These terrorist were not kept off shore in a military compound.

Oaklahoma fed. building bombing , found arrested and prosecuted the bombers without sending them to a off shore military compound.

The most recent terrorist that have been found on U.S. soil were not sent to a off shore military jail or detintion center.

The American Japanese citizens that were in Hawaii during WWII, were brought to the main land for detention for the duration of the War. A large number of German Americans were detained in U.S. mainland detention centers during WWII.
It was illegal to detain both groups but the goverment did it anyway.

Must be that the Americans of the past that lived on the mainland were not as soft or full of fear as they are today, however the goverment was just as stupid as it is today.

Death Penalty Without Trial?? does that not make the hair raise on the back of your neck?? it should. You don’t think he would use that on thoes poor foreign terrorist do you? OOOhh no! Thats just a way to slip it in. It probable is for thoes bad bad homeland terrorist janet Napolitano wrote her memo on, the returning Vet’s/christians.
we all know how he gets when he is opposed. You forgot? Watch what is happening to Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer and Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

I believe in the Death Penalty. But Death Penalty without a Trial?? Scary!!
Obama has sued Arizona Gov and Sheriff Joe Arpaio for trying to do the job he refuses to do.. Deport Illegal Aliens… He has now appealed to the U.N. to try Gov. Jan Brewer and the State of Arizona on Human Rights Violation. He is allowing “sanctuary Cities” for thoes abused Illegal Aliens…Can you imagine what he would do with a “DEATH PENALTY without a Trial” He has become almost permenatly bowed from so much apologising over these wrongs. Nope no need to worry about thoes poor misunderstood terrorist. Just keep your eyes on the homegrown type.. The ones who disobey him orders like the two mentioned above. Death Penalty Without A Trial, no way Jose!

I really liked that one sentence ” plead guilty and presumable executed” That is a great way to send his fellow believers home scott free and none the wiser………Then they can come back sit at the beautiful mosque, sip coffee/tea and laugh at the stupid Americans while they plot how next to attack us. Just think with using different names they could come back and do this over and over. With that law he would be demanding that Israel turn over all the terrorist they have in their prisons to him. So he could see to it they got what they deserved….LMAO AHhhHAHAHA
