Kennedy's successor to affect healthcare vote

September 24, 2009 by

Kennedy's successor to affect healthcare voteGovernor Deval Patrick of Massachusetts has named Paul G. Kirk, a democrat, as an interim U.S. senator for the state, which will likely swing the Senate vote on Obama’s healthcare proposal.

Democrats would need 60 votes in the 100-member Senate to override Republican opposition on President Obama’s healthcare proposition. Kirk’s immediate appointment gives the Democrats this critical 60th vote.

Obama is lobbying for the formation of an insurance marketplace which would allow Americans who do not have health insurance through their employers to buy coverage. The new system would combine private insurers and a public option to promote competition and reduces the price of coverage.

Senator Tom Harkin, a democrat from Iowa who took over Senator Kennedy’s position as chairman of the Senate health committee, told Reuters, "I’m convinced we’re going to have a healthcare reform bill on the president’s desk before we go home for Christmas."

Republicans have countered the Obama administration’s proposal with a three-pronged plan which includes making healthcare more affordable, making it more accessible, and promoting healthy lifestyles and higher quality care.

It appears that 137 Republicans are trying to kill Medicare. They certainly can’t believe that after the recent economic meltdown, that we would really want to privatize and give our care of the elderly to the private insurance companies!! http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2009_09/019796.php

If you’re at least 35, you no longer believe in Santa Claus, and you don’t look up to Mary Poppins or Peter Pan as iconic role models, I have to wonder how you can have a n y faith in the #1 culprit in America’s health care travesty – the GOVERNMENT.
No one who is rational would claim that insurance companies are blameless, but they are being sacrificed to usher in the worst possible “solution.” Our elected criminals know as long as party loyalists line up to be deaf, dumb and blind, they can control unsuspecting citizens and continue to rape our economy and destroy freedom in the name of ‘progress.’
Have those rose-colored glasses surgically removed. Surrendering your life, health and wealth to the government is worse than illogical. America is enduring tyranny disguised as our ‘best friend.’ Our ‘friend’ uses and abuses each generation to gain total control. Get de-programmed. Open your eyes while you can. Party politics is for self-made retards and those who refuse to grow up. CHOICE is the solution. Coerced government interference is never a solution. Do you know the difference, and do you care?

    • eyeswideopen

S.c. so you are saying that all those millions who like their medicare plans are stupid for thinking that the care they have been getting is good? Hey, on this site American Citizen, has stated many times that she loves her medicare. Jeff H. said he was looking forward to his joining. I have stated many times that we should cancel the whole thing, and all I get is the Republicans on this site who have it, giving me grief, stating that they earned it, want it, and like it. How can all those millions be wrong? Are you saying that the majority of people who participate are to quote you “retards and those who refuse to grow up”? I know many people who are on Medicare and they aren’t stupid. I do hope that you aren’t enrolled in Medicare, as that would be really hypocritical.. I know when you qualify, you will refuse to join won’t you? LOL

    • DaveH

I will repeat this as many times as I need to get it through the thick sculls of the Liberals. If you think the insurance companies are overcharging or otherwise taking advantage of people, then pool your monies (it’s easy to do) and start one of your beneficial insurance companies with your own money at risk. Put your skin into the game instead of your flapping lips. I’m sure it would be an eye-opener for those whose eyes are wide-shut. Of course then you would whine about the medical industry. You know my answer to that. Put up or shut up.

      • hopeforamerica

DaveH; Do you work for or own an insurance agency????

      • DaveH

I don’t work for an insurance company. I have had a medical insurance policy for only 2 years of my life because a divorce court ordered it. I have been to the doctor only about a dozen times in my life. I take care of myself with supplements and good diet (I’m 60). I’m the kind of guy who would rather die than force someone else to carry me. I’m not as brave as the people who gave us our freedom, but I strive for that goal rather than be like a large portion of our current population who would climb on top of others to survive.

        • Smilee

          DaveH

Hope you do not get sick before you reach 65, a serious illness could bankrupt you before you are eligible for medicaid, and they you will expect us all to pay for that won’t you, unless you cannot get medical services because you have no insurance and end up dead as the 45,000 that do each year because they cannot get insurance and not all choose that as you do. You act like you can control these things and I hope reality does not force it on you that you cannot, illness or injuries are most often out of our control. You are not the superman you often imply here.

          • DaveH

No Smilee, it won’t bankrupt me, because I will just accept my fate. None of us can live forever and I will not ride on other unwilling shoulders.
There are many ways to really reduce the cost of health care and they all involve less government. Big Government is the problem, not the solution.

          • Smilee

It is you and yours that are the real problem, Big Government has done a far better job with Medicare that the private sector has done with the under 65 crowd in the last forty years but you still support those guys despite their ineptness, hating your government is tantamount to hating yourself as it is WE the people who are the government and hating oneself makes one bitter and angry and incapable of functioning normally. What we need is good and better government and you want only to destroy it. That is what Obama is working for but because he is stepping on some rich toes he is getting spattered with all their mud, but it will not stick on him, he is too smart for that.

          • DaveH

Obama is finished because he is just a stubborn zealot who will keep digging the hole until he can no longer climb out. Much like yourself.

          • Smilee

Davy, stick around for the last act 7+ years from now and you may have to eat your words, hating him distorts your reality of him.

    • hopeforamerica

I have 50 times more confidence in an Public Option than any private-for profit insurance company!!!!!!!! A public option is the ONLY way to ensure lower costs and more benefits for businesses and families!!
      Go Democrats! Go Public Option!

      • David

You are a idiot who has obviously never paid into the system and expects the entreprenuers to fund your health care. Look at Denmark which was on the brink of socio-collapse due to its decades open door policies which allowed the muslims to all but bankrupt the gov. We like many countries ahead of us have made it so easy for illegals to enter, live off of OUR taxes, refuse to embrace our culture or traditions, obey our laws or speak our language. Are you interested in a bankrupt country? If you don’t pay into the system you deserve absolutely nothing. GO BLUE DOGS, LIBS, REPUBS….

    • John Shepherd

I am so perplexed as to the continued rhetoric and uninformed responses to the health care reform that I find that I must respond to this comment. First of all, I am a health care professional and have 38 years experience. I was trained in one of the top ten universities in this country and have been involved in the planning, distribution and management of health care services with two of the top rated health plans on the West coast. I think that I am prepared to offer a reasonable comment on this subject.

We now spend twice as much per person as the next most expensive country while we rank 38th internationally on outcomes. We have been slipping in healthcare outcomes for 9 years. Our uninsured have grown during that same period. These people get their healthcare at the last opportunity and at the highest cost (8-12 times of primary care) in emergency rooms across the nation. Guess who pays for this poor performance…the insured through higher costs. We are, in the current state, delivering less for more and it is not sustainable.

The beloved insurance industry is taking 22% of the entire cost of care for their overhead. Compare this to an average of 2-3% for universal programs around the World, 2% for Medicare and 2-3% for the US VA program. Those other delivery models perform better, much better as well.

I want to be very clear on this next point. The Medicare program IS a US Government run and administered program. It costs money to run and there is a great deal of misinformation on it’s viability. If the same analysis were to be directed at the current insurance models, you would cry foul and run in a different direction. I don’t think that we want to scuttle the Medicare program and turn our seniors to the street. It is a good program and is run well. Could it be better, yes. Could we be sharing common quality of care data and best practices, Yes. We have great models of this and that can be adopted. Kaiser Permanente, Group Health, Pilgrim Health and Health Partners can all show us how that is being done with great success.

A public option is not to be feared unless you cannot compete. The very market driven proponents do not want to operate in open competition. Public choice should drive the market. Left to their own, there would be no change in the exclusionary denial of needed services. This has been demonstrated for years. What are these insurance companies afraid of? The current reimbursement model has been developed by these companies. They have shaped public health policy. They have penalized primary care through lower reimbursements and benefited the specialists where the cost are higher and the care, in most cases, the same. This has caused a massive shortage in primary care providers. The do not pay for a nurse to provide care forcing the patient to return to the physician even when not needed. I point these issues out only to make a point that the current players are not doing a good job and a public option provides incentives to compete.

In most every case I have see when costs are reduced and services improved that the quality of care has improved. Don’t let the fear mongers prevail as we will end up with more of the same. Over a million dollars per day have been spent on anti-public option/reform by the insurance industry. Those are your premiums. That is money which should have gone for prevention and treatment not to misinform the public. That effort is simply unethical.

I ask that you don’t line up with a political party on this. I ask that you do some critical thinking and compare real statistical date on healthcare outcomes of other nations who have the public option. This is not a political issue. It is an issue of public health and well being of a nation’s society. If we continue on this fragmented, self serving road, your children will not live as long as you and there will be a continued decline in the measured health outcomes and data. There will be an increased number of uninsured and associated social issues. Remember one in three personal bankrupt filings are now associated with a lack of adequate healthcare coverage. That could be anyone of us and it is preventable.

Thank You for your time and consideration. Please look at the truth of this issue and compare the data. The last thing we need is an emotional outburst and reaction influencing this most important aspect of our lives. We are the only industrial nation without a comprehensive healthcare plan and universal coverage. We are a better people than that.

      • eyeswideopen

John, finally a medical professional who is objective and knows first hand what is happening in our healthcare saga. Thank you for taking the time to give us a non biased observation.

      • Smilee

I agree with eyes and John, I suppose it is different in different areas but I know in mine uncompensated care in the EM is paid for by the county and the county property taxpayers pay for it. But much of every persons insurance is effected by higher premium costs because of higher medical charges to cover those who cannot pay. I thought about 60% of personal bankruptcies were due to the individual’s medical bills but not sure. Thanks for the straight talk John, many of us see the issue the way you do and it needs to be said. Too much said here is because so few here really understand the problem and they let their biases dictate what they say instead of facts.

        • eyeswideopen

Smilee, Florida ranks right behind Texas as the worst in the nation, on coverage. one in every four does not have insurance. We have more for profit hospitals my area than New York city. Trust me, we aren’t that large in population. We have limited insurance providers, and have a company, WellCare, which has defrauded the fed government, along with state of Fl. and is only paying a fine. Just typical of the private healthcare in our state.

      • s c

JS, if no one ever told you, your ‘experience’ in health care is not an asset. Your words are straight out of alice in wonderland (on contaminated lsd, no less). You rely on ‘good intentions,’ avoid facts and hope that something that almost works for now must somehow continue to ‘work’ in the future.
The only difference between your approach and something that Saul Alinsky might propose is in Alinsky’s implied omniscience, while your style is more akin to a ‘group hug’ approach.
I know it’s easy for you to snow your ultralib chums. I read and re-read your rant, and you sound like a perverse mixture of Ted Kennedy, John Kerry and a twist of Michael Moore.
Keep at it. Another 30 years of experience, and you just might learn the difference between emotional manure and facts.

        • Smilee

Again s c you make no sense and your post only reveals your total lack of knowledge, your way out of your league with John so why embarrass yourself by trying

      • DaveH

Maybe, John, you need to inform the 2/3 of your colleages who think the Health Care Bill should be scrapped. I would expect more from a highly educated man. Health care costs have climbed consistently for the last 35 years since I have been keeping track. Has government involvement decreased during that time period? Of course not.
Being a health care provider does not make you an expert on overall expenditures in ours and other countries. My solution to the high health care costs is to stay away from you guys as much as possible. In fact doctors have done more damage to my family than they’ve done good.

        • eyeswideopen

How about the premiums increasing by 131% while the salaries only rose by 38%. How does that work for middle class America?

        • Smilee

Your out of your league with Jjohn, don’t embarrass yourself further, give up with your stupid responses

  • Robin from Indiana

Health care is expensive. But, I do not believe that the government can and will do a better job of it. You can just look at how they spend money on things that are for special interest groups. They don’t use common sense. Why anyone would think that all of a sudden they are all going to do the right thing is simply amazing.

    • s c

Robin, let’s put this crap to the test. How many of our elected elites are willing to drop their PRIVATE insurance so they can endure FORCED HEALTH CARE? The answer is NONE! The message is clear. These people think they’re too damned good to have to endure obama’s health care.
To make it even worse (proving that obama lied about more TAXES), they want to TAX those who want no part of comrade obama’s stinking crap. The day those two-legged vermin in Washington cancel their PRIVATE insurance so they can face the horrors of totalitarian health care is the day we’ll have a reason to consider such insanity. Until or unless that happens, obama and every one of his mind-numbed stooges can SHOVE IT.

      • David

s c, finally someone who is objective and knows first hand what is happening in our healthcare saga. Thank you for taking the time to give us a non biased observation. Back at-cha Eyes closed

The Joke of the day, s c objective Ha Ha Ha

    • eyeswideopen

Robin, it isn’t all of a sudden. They passed the bill, in 2003 which cost 1.2 trillion for the big Phrma companies who are making 200 billion a year in profit. The percentage of profit is 438%. The mistake has already been made. The effort is to now change who is getting the money and to try and force the insurance companies to supply care instead of using our money for their CEO’s salary and marketing expenses. Read and learn.

  • Cribster

Damn Kennedy!! Screwing hundreds of millions of Americans even to his very last breath, making sure a democrat would take his seat by undoing a law that he made to keep Governor Romney at the time from appointing a republican to the senate.

    Good riddance!

      Hi

I agree with you. I was raised in Massachusets.
I left because of the political corruption that was going on.
This is a case in point. What good is law if it is made to fit
a special circumstance to support a political party rather than the taxpayer.

I agree Goodbye Kennedy ..Hope you had a nice trip to ..well wonder if he went North or South.LOL. Someone we now need to be removing from office is John Kerry married to the Heinz heir. They have donated 8.7 million to the appollo group, connected to the tides group, part of the Van Jones. He is not fit ti serve public office. Just goggle Tides or appolo.

That dumb A didn’t even know what the cap & trade bill was about the other day when he tried to speak intelligently about it…what a goober

  • ONTIME

If I had a way to put the advocates in congress off their intended agenda of health care for all, no mater what, I would choose to keep them from their swine flu shots and send a plague of infectees to shake their hands. They would be so busy blowing their noses and coughing on each other the global warming in Washington would probably improve, as would the noise level.

    • DaveH

Sorry Ontime, I have to disagree. I would force them to take the vaccinations.
      http://www.healthfreedomusa.org/?p=3488
Of course if it made them brain-dead nothing will have changed much.

When is the American public going to wake up get their head out of their A_ _ and realize this government can do only one thing good, spend other peoples money. They have caused just about everything to go broke.
    1) Education, more money WON’T educate our children, good schools will, BG(Before Government)our schools were fine, now they are full of schooled propaganda. We had better wake up.

  • Joanna Long

The American people have spoken very loudly as to what they think.
Why isn’t our elected leaders listening. Obama would be liked a lot more if he announced he wouldn’t push this health plan any more. That perhaps they could slowly change some things that everybody considers problems. But that they would move slowly on that. The Senate and Congress have heard a lot and need to keep the American people happy.
That is what they are there for. Not to keep the President Happy or to do what they have decided we need but to really listen to us.that includes no government intervention and no paying for abortions and no payment to illegal aliens who in fact are getting to much aid already. Most of them live fairly close to their country and can go home for their care.

  • Darlene

Government running schools which is unconstitutional, government running rail lines and in billions of dollars of debt, government running banks and then bailing themselves out, government running the postal service and there in debt billions of dollars, now they want to run our health care, people wake up, we are paying the taxes and with all of this we will soon be paying out around 80 cents on the dollar.
Government get out of my pocket. With everything we now pay for who do you know is getting a raise, besides government. The more government is in charge the more your taxes are going to be, No more big government. If you don’t like this country and the constitution it was based on leave and move to another country one that has gov. run health care and see if you like it better.

    • hopeforamerica

Darlena; You & many others on this site don’t really know what you’re talking about. You’re just parroting sound bites you’ve heard from unscrupulous GOP, Rush, Fox and Beck. Get educated!! When the banks stopped lending, it would have been irresponsible if the Feds did not inject money into the banks and the economy. When the banks stop lending, the economy comes to a grinding halt. And because the feds invested into the banks and auto industry in order to restart the economy, the feds wanted to make sure that the taxpayers get their money back and therefore have interest in these companies until their debt is paid to taxpayers. Some of that debt has already been paid back.

      • s c

You need to do much serious history reading – and fast. Your comments betray your lack of knowledge of history and current events. Comrade obama is willingly doing the same things FDR did. This time around, obama is even dumber and more power-mad than FDR.
FDR’s legacy was an unnecessarily long depression, a war that could have been avoided and Supreme Court rulings that showed him to be a power-hungry tyrant.
Ask Warren Buffet or Jim Rogers or any economic realist about obama’s inevitable ‘legacy.’ If comrade obama is lucky, he will merely suck as a prez. Most likely, he will be one of the two worst or THE worst. I’d like to see the look on your face when reality comes home to roost, and you have to deal with it. Just remember that ‘obama is god and nothing can go wrong . . . nothing can go wrong.’ Sleep well.

        • eyeswideopen

S.C. YOU HAVE THE NERVE TO SAY A WAR THAT COULD HAVE BEEN AVOIDED? You must be talking about IRAQ right?? lol.. you are a funny man.

          • s c

Are you a closet politician, eyes? You don’t know how to read. You don’t know who FDR was (do 7 December 1941 and the depression ring any bells for you?). You don’t know what I meant, and yet you took the time to prove once again that you rarely know what you’re talking about.
Ladies and gentlemen, eyes wants to be in Congress, or he’s czar material. Pack your bags, guy. You definitely belong in DC. Before you go, take the time to learn how to READ. It is a very rare talent in Washington. You could be one the first on your ultralib block to read and understand a proposed bill. You could even help comrade obama ‘create’ that health care reform plan that was supposed to be ‘ready to go’ BEFORE he got elected.

          • eyeswideopen

            S.c.
I certainly thought that you did know that we were attacked at Pearl harbour don’t you? How do you think we could have avoided that war? You are truly a nut job. and yes, I do know FDR, he scared the hell out of people by being relected so many times, that Congress finally put a term limit on the presidency. I also know that he didn’t spend enough to get us out of the depression, and it was war spending which finally did it. Don’t worry dude he is dead, and you are just afraid of the dark again.

          • eyeswideopen

S.c. I also know that even before we entered the war, the increased defense spending and need for money to support the opponents of the Axis aggression let to the passage in 1940 of two taxes that increased individual and corporate taxes. It also increased the number of taxpayers from 4 million in 1939 to 43 million in 1945. If you studied the tax increases you would see that usually a war increased our tax rate. A hint that we were in trouble is when Bush cut taxes, and then started two wars without repealing those cuts. history is a wonderful thing if you are awake and learn from it.

          • DaveH

FDR was president from 1933 to 1945. The Depression lasted from 1929 to 1940. So he presided over 7 years of economic calamity.
What would you have said about a Republican who did the same? Don’t bother answering that.
The Keynesian theory of government spending as being an economic booster was soundly trounced when Jimmy Carter blew up our economy after which he pronounced “We must tighten our belts”. You are woefully ignorant about economics. The common denominator between prosperous countries and poor countries is the amount of government regulation. Prosperity is inversely proportional to the amount of government regulations. You will experience these things yourself soon. Put your seatbelt on! I would tell you to protect your cash savings with hard assets, but you wouldn’t listen anyway, and I doubt that would make me sad.

          • eyeswideopen

Dave, the arguement was if the war could have been avoided or not as suggested by your buddy. Since we were attacked, I mentioned that he must be referring to the Iraq war that we started, which we could have avoided. Get It?? Why don’t you just jump in here and make more comments? I understand economics more than you know, and Jimmy Carter had nothing to do with FDR, or didn’t you notice that? You just don’t like the fact that Bushie, started two wars right after cutting taxes, a historical no, no. I thought Jimmy was sad as a leader, but then again, I was biased as a Republican.

          • DaveH

Don’t you even read your own statements before you comment on my rebuttals? From one of your previous comments:
“I do know FDR, he scared the hell out of people by being relected so many times, that Congress finally put a term limit on the presidency. I also know that he didn’t spend enough to get us out of the depression, and it was war spending which finally did it.”
You have a real reading problem.
And I don’t care what Bush did or didn’t do. Our problem now is what Obama is doing.

          • eyeswideopen

Dave, and you brought up Jimmy Carter for what reason?? Go on, be off with you!!

Too many bills are being rushed through, before anyone has a chance to read and understand the actual and long term underlying cost to our citizens and our freedom. The health care reform bill is a device used by Obama and the liberals to systematically gain complete control of our privacy and our lives. He loves publicity but doesn’t seem able to lead our country efficiently – and it’s obvious he feels he should be the President of the World. What a joke. He managed to get himself into a position way above his pay grade. What’s next America?

  • BABUSHSKA

This country has gone absolutely mad. In 9 short months, I no longer recognize it as the “home of the free” as I once did. This democratic congress with regard to healthcare reform is self-serving, spineless, reckless, irresponsible, gutless and dishonest. This bill is about a massive transfer of power and control to the presidency and will basically destroy the balance of power our constitution was founded on. It makes me physically ill to absorb all that is taking place. Our personal healthcare information and our financial information will be accessed by the Executive branch (Obama’s czars) at any time, for any reason. Say good-bye to our right to privacy because it is systematically being destroyed on every level. Unless we rise up and take to the streets in citizen revolt, the US as we’ve known it, is going into oblivion! God help us all.

    • DaveH

I’m glad to see there are others that are awake.

  • sonny

Our lazy Representatives rushed through the stimilus package without reading it, there were some healthcare reform in it. Now the American people are telling our socialist leaning President we don’t want his healtcare reform but it’s full steam ahead. Our President has announced he would like to legalize 12 to 20 million illegal aliens also they are sending a gun control bill through congress now. Obama, Pelosi, Reid and other socialist don’t care about the will of the American people, they know what’s best for us. We have our liberals in Texas also Democrat Gene Green is a good example. They are all after the Hispanic vote. We have a great opportunity in 2010 and 2012 to let them know the will of the people by voting these nuts out of office. Also notice Mass. replaced Kennedy with another super liberal.

  • DaveH

Here we are in the middle of a recession/depression, our property values have plummeted, and what is my state doing? They are raising property taxes! Unbelievable. These government creeps could care less about the citizens.

  • s c

DaveH, I don’t where you live (none of my business), but I hope you’re not in California or New York. As a rule, most politicians have all the economic gifts of someone who never had to study it. You’ve seen what happens when they don’t have to read. If utopian rainbow-chasers appreciated JFK better, they’d know (without having to read anything about economics) that raising taxes is INSANE. Lowering taxes will help [duh!].
Washington losers are doing what they’ve been programmed to do. They don’t get it. They don’t want to ‘get it.’ They won’t get it until they’re FORCED to ‘get it.’ So much for the Harvard and the Georgetown crowds. ‘Elite,’ my @$$!

    • DaveH

Nope, Arizona. And the Governor here is a Republican (Eyes will like that).

  • Claire says

Get a grip. Medicare is a government operated program and it is great. We need health care reform. It is the do nothing Republicans that are trying to stop it. The Republicans don’t want health care reform because the insurance companies have donated to their campaigns. The GOP is a party of nothing but whining brats. My dogs have more sense than they do. The GOP is trying to create havoc and dissent. But that is to be expected with the likes of druggie Limbaugh for a leader. All they do is bitch and moan. They are NOT trying to help America. And I used to be Republican but after this summer and the crap the Gop spews, I will no longer vote for any Republican.

    • David

But we love our country and will fight to keep it from becoming the next crap hole…because if we go, the entire world will go. Even if you were a repub, don’t you get it? This is about our civil liberty. Gov. run health care for all even though there aren’t enough tax payers to fund it (let’s make the illegals legal so they will vote for us), cap/trade (single most largest tax on american industry ie Americans in our history), gun control (if they are unarmed they are no threat). Do your own homework, get your facts right and quit listening to your husband.

    • Smilee

      Thanks Claire

Believe it or ot here is one conservative that really gets it!!

      http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/02/opinion/02brooks.html?th&emc=th

      • DaveH

That’s funny Smilee. I mean the part about him being a fellow conservative. A ‘conservative reporter for the New York Times’ is an oxymoron. If Glen Beck isn’t effective, why is Obama trying so hard to silence him?

        • Smilee

David Brooks calls himself a conservative, you calling him a liar? Obama is not trying to silence Beck, he knows Beck is only believed by the far right lunatics and they are so small in number less that 20% of the population. David Brooks has a lot bigger following and tells it like it is while Beck has to resort to all lies. The vast majority see though this phony actor. Remember he said 2.5 million showed up in DC fir the tea party when only 70,000 really did, people know his lies

    • DaveH

OMG, the Republicans are a bunch of whining rats? Who is trying to force their way on others? Who is crying “We have a right to health-care”? I am not a Republican, but they have far more morality than the thieving Democrats. Of course, ideally I would rather see a Libertarian Congress. Due to the increased properity I would then be able to buy tissue for you crybabies who get upset because you can’t help yourself to the wallets of others.

  • corvettelady

Folks, the Republican & Democratic parties are corrupt to the core. The President, Congress, and many politicians in DC are merely puppets for the Elite (Rockefeller, Rothchilds, Bilderbergers, etc.,) also known as secret societies, including Fed Reserve bankers controlling our money system. Their agenda is one world government (NWO)/one world currency, as well as turning our country into socialist third world country. By taxing us to death, killing us with processed/junk foods, GMO foods, toxic pharma drugs, chemtrails, vaccines, fluoride (for over 50 years), dumbing down of America, police states, etc., so we are complacent, sickly and distracted from the elite’s plan to control, enslave & exterminate us. They want to reduce the world’s population by 90%! This is nothing new as it’s happened over and over throughout History (Hitler, Stalin, etc.) However, many are waking up to this madness (including myself) thankfully because of the Internet as you certainly won’t hear it from MSM who are keeping us from the truth, telling lies, half lies, propaganda. This is another reason why millions are stocking up on guns and ammo, the most ever in History getting ready for another possible Revolution in this country. We are living in very dangerous times. God help us all.

  • Lynn

You are all Crazy. Government is a necessity.
The Majority of Republicans, Democrats and Independants want a Public Option…I have Medicare and United HealthCare through my late
Husbands Company. Medicare approves a certain amount and pays 80%, United Health care pays 80% of the 20% left…so that is a good deal for the Company. I have very few complaints and have a Doctor that says that Medicare pays them plenty.
    You can keep your
Insurance if you are happy with it.
You people aren’t fooling anyone, you just can’t stand that we now have a President who is highly intelligent, obviously more intelligent than any of you, doesn’t have shoes thrown at him when he goes to a foreign Country. Your main problem is that he is Democrat and not White.
How many times do you people have to be told “He is not going to take your Guns.”
As for spying on you…Bush put in the Patriot Act. Obama is trying to make sure it is used for Security purposes only.
Where were you people the last 8 years when Bush-Cheney or was it Cheney- Bush Destroyed the Constitution and the Economy?
When is a responsible Republican going to take charge and tell the ones in charge now to knock it off with their Lies. The lies they tell wouldn’t be believed by any intelligent person, and they are hurting the Republican party.

    • s c

Government is always a two-edged sword. As it grows, it becomes more and more totalitarian. Politics is the fine art of subversion via power, greed and money. No people can stand against it unless they are aware and distrustful of big and growing government.
Never in the history of the world has any government found ways to eliminate power, greed and money. That must be done by the people. Our government is like a long chain that has many weak links. It will not stand unless Americans band together to compensate for self-serving incompetents, career criminals and the love of money.
America’s clock is ticking. Do not look to Washington for answers. Washington is our main problem. There are no saviors in Washington. Politics is a disease of the soul. Truth and high standards for elected officials will help eliminate the disease. Low standards for politicians and the love of the status quo will be the death of America. Do you really care? If you do, you have a most curious way of phrasing it.

      • eyeswideopen

She took a big risk to state her opinions on a rt wing conservative site and you ask if she cares? If she didn’t she wouldn’t have put herself out there. What you fail to understand is that there are alot of people just like her, who see what has happened to our party and won’t support it anymore. You want the status quo on healthcare? You can be the one to tell people like American Citizen, that she will have no healthcare in five years, so she better hurry up and die early.

        • DaveH

What part of ‘Personal Liberty’ do you not understand? This is not a right-wing site anymore than it is a left-wing site because you comment on it. Liberty is lack of force by others. News flash, the National Health Care Bill is force. Government is force. You who would force your way on others are immoral, period.
You want the right to choose to terminate an unborn child but try to deny others the right of choice in healthcare. At least in our overpriced health-care system (caused by Big Government regulations) you have a better chance than that baby had.

          • eyeswideopen

You are a hypocrite, Mr. Libertarian, who’s party allows abortions. You missed the whole point. I want people to have a choice, it is called the PUBLIC OPTION for a reason. So when you get sick and need emergency care, since you have no insurance, who do you think will be paying for it? Yes, me and everyone else. I would say, oh, he just wants to die, so let him. However the emergency people, or your kids, or your neighbor will call for help, and then you screw us all because you won’t be paying for that operation, and hospital stay unless you are very wealthy. Which you say your not. Your irresponsible actions may leave a very expensive legacy. It is called debt!

          • Smilee

I don’t care what you call your self, your posts clearly indicate you are a far right radical and like most of them you are bitter and angry and not able to understand what is really going on.

          • DaveH

EyesWideShut, you are the hypocrite. You cry for choice and then try to prevent others from having choice.
The gift of healthcare for me is an unsolicited gift. If I give you a gift can I then demand your freedom? You and your little hanger-on dwarf are illogical. Anyone with more than half-a-brain can see that.

    • corvettelady

Lynn, you are a sheeple. Obama is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He’s highly intelligent? You’ve got to be joking me!! He’s just a community organizer, because that’s all he knows, particularly his involvement with ACORN, full of criminal corruption as of late. I don’t care if he’s black, this is not about race. However, I am sick and tired of the the Democrats, Congress, etc., constantly using the words racists, hate crimes, political correctness, bi-partisan, etc., as an excuse or attack on our freedoms, passing special laws, etc., for certain groups of people and so on and so forth. All this fighting is ridiculous, it’s a wonder anything gets done and they don’t even read the damn bills that they’re trying to ram down our throats! Yeah, I know he says he’s not going to take our guns – it means the opposite…get it? He’s a liar.

Our last good President was JFK who tried to warn us about our govt. getting more powerful and wanted to re-organize the CIA. He also wanted to create interest-free government money, backed up by the silver reserve, contrary to the Federal Reserve money, which is not backed up by anything. He wanted to pay off the US debt this way. Apparently aware of the secret behind the Federal Reserve, he decided to go back and follow the Constitution. Of course, this was a very dangerous thing to do, because if he was allowed to continue, it could put the International bankers out of business in the long run. So, this was even more serious than to reorganize the CIA. Interestingly enough, soon after the assassination the interest-free money was taken out of circulation.

Before 9/11 attack, they already made plans to put in the Patriot Act, which Bush quickly passed, despite strong objections by the people, then along came Homeland Security, FEMA, wire-tapping – all infringements on our freedoms. This false flag event happened to pass all the above into law.

We have to vote these criminal bums out and vote for The Constitution Party – less taxes, smaller govt., more freedoms, liberty and who are FOR THE PEOPLE!!! But it’s a problem because half the country are dependent on govt. assistance. We need to start creating more jobs, businesses here in America.

    • Smilee

Some conservatives really to get it, too bad so few

      http://www.nytimes.com/2009/10/02/opinion/02brooks.html?th&emc=th

    • DaveH

We’re crazy? Because we don’t agree with you? Amazing. I will concede that Obama is the most intelligent liar that I have ever seen as President. He sure sold a bill of goods to the voters.
While Bush was no friend of the Constitution, he pales in comparison to Obama. And, no Eyes, that was not meant as a ‘racist’ comment.

  • corvettelady

Oh yeah, one more thing. Govt. is not a necessity. I want to be independent from them and live my life as I see fit. I don’t need them to tell me what to eat, what kind of car to drive, and to pay every stinking tax out there. I want to choose my own healthcare plan, not the governments health plan which they have no business getting into the first place. Why do they need to do everything for us? Because we have too many idiots that can’t think for themselves so they know what’s best for them…well I don’t want it!!

    • BOE

Because many years ago welfare was created out of need. Now we have 40% of the population -3rd and 4th generations-that has become a way of life and has refused to work for a living. This is the whole point of Obama`s health care reform. Take more from the working and give to those who will not. He hates the rich. I don`t know where he got the 250,000 dollars amount he uses all the time..but he considers that rich. Thomas Jefferson said “democracy ceases to exist when you take from those willing to work and give it to those who are not willing to work.” Well..there you go.

      • Smilee

Your mixed up, companies no longer pay living wages and benefits so the government is filling the gap now more that ever. Those of us old enough remember when most made a living wage and needed, wanted or qualified for these plans. Government is subsidizing the companies wage and benefit packages now. Companies should pay living wages again and much of the problems would take care of themselves. Corporations are no longer good citizens and this causes us all grief

  • BABUSHSKA

Look at Obama, galavanting to every morning show making personal appearances, now going to Copenhagen to lobby for the summer Olympics. Is this president serious about foreign and domestic affairs? Hell no, he thinks he’s a freakin’ celebrity!!! He doesn’t have a clue about running a country because he’s never run anything in his little community organizing life.

General McChrystal, appointed by Obama to be his head of the U.S. forces in Afghanistan, admitted he hasn’t talked to the prez but once in 3 months. What????? Here we are at war in Afghanistan, a request has been made for 40,000 additional troops to win this war and Obama is running all over the country doing meaningless appearances. He has put McChrystal off while he considers for the next month what to do about Afghanistan while more and more of our troops die because of a lack of support. I don’t believe for a moment he’ll send additional troops because he doesn’t want to have Afghanistan ultimately identified as HIS war.

Michelle Obama, it also turns out, is just as radical as he is, if not more, and while working as a lawyer in one of the most prestigious law firms in Chicago, connected Barry to all her Chicagoan radical contacts. Remember, she also said America is a mean country and she’s never been proud of it for most of her adult life! They are both marxists and socialists, apologizing all over the world for the country that put them both in the White House! They pose as the champions of the poor and minorities, but it’s nothing more than a facade. They have betrayed every promise made during the campaign about having a transparent presidency by installing a team of corruption (tax cheats), etc. around them. Wake up America, Open your eyes!!!!!! We have all been betrayed by their “hope and change” rhetoric but it was a MYTH!

    • Smilee

They are just so talented they can do it all, drives you nuts doesn’t it!!

      • DaveH

        LOL

  • Leo

Eyeswideopen – I don’t think you really understand the System – When you become 65 and are eligible for Medicare; that is the only PRIMARY insurance that you can get. There is NO private option!. This is because the Government has priced Medicare lower that what it really costs and ALL taxpayers are subsidizing the System. In most cases Medicare also does not pay the Doctors what is really costs for their services, Thus many Doctors will either not take any Medicare patients or just a few. Therefore , when you are forced on to Medicare , you may find it very hard to get a GP if you move away form your current Doctor. While I’m have been forced to go to Medicare – I’m not particurlay happy with it except I’ll agree – the cost is low – But THEN THE WORKING FOLKS ARE MAKING UP THE DIFFERENCE!

    • s c

Leo, thanks much for your incisive comments. It’s not easy trying to enlighten those who prefer to act like spoiled children who never had to grow up. I can’t prove it, but I think most ultralib wind bags would solve their own global warming ‘problem’ quickly if they’d learn to listen more, talk less and recognize al gore types for the hucksters they really are.
It warms my heart to know that comrade obama felt ‘obligated’ to escort his wife to Copenhagen (along with Oprah, no less), to try and give Chicago a major bailout. I guess the Iraq/Afghanistan issue just doesn’t rate as an important matter to this administration. Frankly, if I was faced with trying to survive one or more tours in Iraq/Afghanistan, I
would be beyond !*$$#^-off seeing this pretender-in-chief leaving a serious carbon footprint trail to and from Copenhagen – when he could at least act as though he gave a damn about our military. Keep up the good work, Leo.

      • eyeswideopen

S.c. you just made me do it again. Let’s see Bush went to Olympics for total of four days, during two wars and you didn’t complain did you/ HYPOCRITES RULE!!!!!

        • libertytrain

“The White House press secretary, Robert Gibbs, confirmed Mr Obama had not spoken to General McChrystal since receiving his report last month. There have been suggestions that the President has had only one conversation with him since he took over in Afghanistan in mid-June.”

I think perhaps the info above is why Mr. Obama evoked a little hostility with some for managing to have time to take care of Chicago’s hopes and dreams while, perhaps, our soldiers languish as they wait… Frankly, I’m not particularly political or hostile as some seem to be – yet- I just don’t see an equivalency to Bush actually going to the Olympics for four days and Mr. Obama not having time these last several months to keep in touch with his generals about two wars, yet, can easily cheerlead for Chicago’s needs. It’s just an observation – no right, no wrong.

          • Smilee

            They talked yesterday

          • libertytrain

Yes, I am aware he finally was able to talk to him as he zipped into Copenhagen. I could have added that to my comment but knew someone else would clarify that Mr. Obama, finally met with his Generals.

          • s c

Libertytrain, comrade obama’s strange love for a city where it’s so easy to get murdered is very questionable. Does he owe someone in chicago something? Today, Rio got the IOC’s OK for the next olympics [ooorah!]. According to jesse jackson, chicago sent Copenhagen their ‘A team’ (maybe he meant their ‘Z team’).
So much for community organizing outside the US (hardy har har). Apparently, it was more important for comrade obama to be out of the US for a while. Did he accompany his wife, or did his wife accompany him?
It sounds like comrade obama’s wife (and oprah) will fly to paris to some serious shopping (guess who pays for that), so the trip to Copenhagen wasn’t a complete loss (nyuk, nyuk, as curly the prophet might say).
Now, if comrade obama could figure out a way to reduce that HUGE carbon footprint that he is so fond of spreading around the world. Gee, I thought he CARED about global warming.

          • DaveH

Come on SC. Do you really expect them to grasp the hypocrisy of Obama jetting around the world at the same time as he complains about man-made global warming?

          • eyeswideopen

Liberty, I hate to tell you this, but the general has a boss, his name is Gates, The general doesn’t get to talk to the President unless his boss thinks he should. It is called a chain of command for a reason. In big companies, some employees don’t ever get to talk to the President, they usually work up the chain of Command. Heh Heh,

    • eyeswideopen

Leo, don’t you get it? Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to have an option? Damn you people are hard headed. Complaining you don’t have an option, and then saying no to an option… yup sounds like those repubs are losing their minds.

      • DaveH

Unbelievable. The more I read your comments, the more I realize that you are truly clueless. If there was a government-run health insurance company, they wouldn’t have to be competitive. They could lower their rates as low as they wanted. If they run out of money they will either raise taxes or incur more debt. There is no way for them to lose. So, of course, they will drive the other insurance companies out of business. The government can’t admit a single-payer government-run system as their ultimate goal any more than Obama could admit that he is a left-wing zealot during his campaign.

        • eyeswideopen

So, let’s just skip the horse shit and go right for a single payer system. Then you would have a real agruement that the government has taken over healthcare. Dave you only have to ask yourself one question, is it good for the people or is it good for the insurance companies? Very easy question. I personally like people like American Citizen on this site so, I opt for the people and not the insurance companies.

          • DaveH

Maybe if you would expand your brain you could understand that it is not the insurance companies but the government that is the problem. You aren’t going to get to that point by reading dumbed-down liberal articles that appeal to peoples’ baser instincts.

          • DaveH

And how come, as I have asked before, you don’t pool your resources with your fellow liberals and form your own mutual insurance companies? The answer is that you know damn well you are blowing smoke! It is much easier to tear others down than to try walking in their shoes.

          • eyeswideopen

Dave, I know you won’t understand this but the E&O insurance required to fund your own company would require over 300 to contribute lump sum payment of 3,000.00 plus the premiums would be around 650.00 a month. 8000.00 a year is a little high for most of the people who need the insurance, as their average pay is 27,000. before taxes. We are also looking at a Home Owners Insurance increase of 28%. Since the average salary increase was below 3%, it is impossible to start your own company. I know as we tried and that is why the Governor got a program going, which is not successful either. Nobody can afford to join it. One in four in this state don’t have insurance. Yep it is too expensive, so it only has 4300 in membership. Self insurance is a dream in this country, or do you think that “you” are the only one who ever had that idea? You actually insult the majority of people who have worked for years trying to get co-ops going. The insurance companies have it locked down and only those that have, will continue to receive.

    • Smilee

Most take Medicare patients, in fact I have not found any who will not, not even the Mayo Clinic. The doctors write off what they do not get paid and often inflate that cost to get more write offs. The Medicare plan is far better than most plans available to the under 65 crowd today. Besides you have 12 choices of a private sector gap plan to supplement your Medicare and these cover the whole range of coverages and if you choose F you will not pay any medical costs beyond premiums, I have not and by uncle was on the F plan for 29 years when he died and never in that time paid anything but the premiums and he had oodles of health problems for years. In fact I know of no doctor in my area who does not take Medicare.

  • s c

Getting back to the main issue of Kennedy’s ‘successor,’ it is a bit confusing. Can we assume that this character will actually READ the legislation, weigh the issues and then render an impartial decision? Or is America stuck with a quasi-Alfred E Newman/quasi-Kennedy, and this will be a rubber-stamped, predictble dog-and-pony show?
I’m betting that this ‘ethical giant’ is already programmed to do whatever the ultralib machine demands of him. God forbid that he should have an independent mind and have the GUTS to tell those Massachusetts weasels to go hose themselves.
    We’ll see.

S.C. nay, he’ll be just like our replacement for Sen. Martinez. Governor Crist will be telling how to think, vote, eat, pee, he is our puppet master for the new Sen. Lemieux from Florida. He was the one who pulled a “PALIN” and quit before his term was up. Yea Repubs, looks like it is starting to be a habit,,,just quit when things get tough.

    • BOE

do you know who wrote the stimulus bill and health care reform bill? Do you know who go paid hundreds of millions to write them? Have you ever wonder how the bills got written so fast. They were written before Obama was sworn in. Who??..Acorn and appolo. And who do they cater to….and who to they take money from ?

      • Smilee

To hear you tell it , ACCORN is the most powerful organization in the country, they are writing laws now?? wow ROTFL

      • eyeswideopen

Boe, here’s a clue, there are 3,000 Insurance lobbyists in washington. That is about 6 for every elected official. That’s who writes the bills.

  • Lynn

One last try. Everyone who gets a paycheck has money taken out for S.S. and Medicare. Yes they are paying for those who don’t have good insurance or none, they are also paying for their own Health Insurance when they reach 65…It is not free, you still pay every month as it is taken out of your S.S.
Corvette Lady, you call Obama a Liar before you have any proof against him. You say you want to be rid of Government and be on your own. Too,bad you can’t have it your way. Talk is cheap when you know it is not going to happen.

The people spoke at the Polls last November. Be a good sport and quit lying about him. He hasn’t been in long enough to be guilty of all the things you are accusing him of.

I for one was proud of Americans for voting him in with 70% He took 7 red States.

Someone needed to apologize for the U.S. We have been bullies. Our prestige has risen all over the Globe because of him.

    This my last comment…

I’ll take your ‘word’ that this is your last comment. In the words of a democrat who almost made sense (once in a while) [harry s truman], “if you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.’
If comrade obama knows anything about prestige and knows how to ‘spread it,’ I’m a weekend NASA rocket scientist. He definitely knows how to ‘spread’ low-grde manure.
The American people did not ‘speak’ at the last election. The American people had a major case of heartburn (had a hard time not puking) and then broke wind.
In the matter of social security, if it was done right, it would have been a matter of CHOICE. Isn’t it funny how ‘choice’ doesn’t mean anything to ultralibs unless it gets them what they want? Wanna borrow a good dictionary?
We could have done better by leaving our soc sec ‘donations’ in a bank. At least we’d have something to show for the effort (instead of worthless government IOUs). Bye!

      • eyeswideopen

        S.c.
So glad you didn’t have any input on our Social Security being privatized, as it would be gone. Are you alseep, didn’t you notice the tremendous stock market crash?? Oh that’s right you drank the Bush Kool-Aid didn’t you?? LOL.. Wake up now, things turned to (WORD REMOVED FOR OFFENSIVE CONTENT) while you were sleeping and now we no longer have power as the American people voted us OUT!!!!

        • s c

Eyes/Specter wannabe, why are you ultralibs so extremely emotional when your pet projects [medicare, social security, health care 'reform,' etc.] are put under a public microscope? You would do better to tear off your mask, and admit that your only conservative leanings focus on your next meal.
As for your childish attempts at transference, you need to repeat Freshman Psychology 101, and this time stay awake and perhaps pass the course. You’ll never get anywhere using half-hearted stabs at ‘dialogue.’ You don’t seem to pack the gear.
And burn that fake ‘conservative’ membership card.

          • eyeswideopen

I was never a conservative, I am a moderate Republican.
You were given a choice and the trust to do the right thing and you blew it. Why don’t you read this? http://www.drurywriting.com/keith/democ.htm

Remember, Eyes, that the people in the middle ages thought the Earth was flat. If the majority was always right we would have no poverty.

          • eyeswideopen

Dave, you are right, I should be really angry at the Dem’s for letting the Repubs (majority party during the past many years) just run all over them. Even though they had no power, they should have been able to stop the Patriot Act, Medicare Bill, Iraq and Afgan wars, tax cuts for the wealthy and torture. Those Dem’s had so much control that they couldn’t even stop these Reconciliation bills the majority passed by the Republicans:
Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981
            ” ” 1982
            ” ” 1983
            ” ” 1986
            ” ” 1987
            ” ” 1989
            ” ” 1990
            ” ” 1993
Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsiblility Act of 1982
            Deficit Reduction Act of 1984
            Consolidated Omnibus Act of 1985
            Balanced Budget Actt of 1995
Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity Act 1996
            Balance Budget Act of 1997
            Taxpayer Relief Act 1997
Taxpayer Refund and Relief Act 1999
Marriage Tax Relief Act of 1999
Economic Growth and Tax Relief Act of 2000
Jobs and Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act of 2001
            Deficit Reduction Act of 2005
Tax Increase Prevention and Reconciliation Act of 2005
College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007.

All bills from 1995 to 2007 were reconcilied by the Republican controlled Congress (both houses) Those bills passed during the 1981 to 87 had Republican President and Republican controlled Senate.

Appears to be an awlful lot of throat ramming going on by the Republicans doesn’t it?

      • http://aol.com singcanary

ditto…What about us people who have religiously paid into the system for years into health care coverage? I am 55 yrs. old and soon will be retiring. All the years I spent my money to protect my health care and now government will make my choices for me? Tell me when I can go see a doctor or not? Approve if I am a candidate for surgery over a 35 year old next to me needing the same thing? BULL Sh…t! I will NOT be put on a waiting list due to those who refused to get out and work like the rest of us or for illigal aliens to come in and get EVERYTHING FREE.

        • Smilee

Stop believing all the lies you here, none of the concerns you hear are going to happen, the reform as it actually will be written in the end will make all better that it is now. What politician in its right mind would vote to make your life more miserable and hope to be re-elected. The party out of power now wants you to believe that with the hopes it will get them votes and the companies who will have to go back to making money the old fashioned way will spend millions lobbing to convince you of what you appear to already seem to believe. They like making this easy and large profits at our expense.

          Singcanary,
The funny thing about Smilee is that he jumps all over anyone who posts a link to a ‘conservative’ website, yet he posts links to New York Times articles. Oh no, they aren’t biased, are they?
Maybe Smilee, that is your problem. Expand your brain a little and read some alternative publications.

Personal Liberty, means you don’t have to just read the required Repub conservative bs. Some people read as much as they can, and don’t limit it to a specific party line. Then again some people are afraid of newspapers. lol

ACORN put Obama in office… We for get Obama only had one year experience in senate seat. He NEVER ran a business himself. He has NO idea what he is doing in foreign affairs either. The presidency is serious business…not a testing ground for developing experience you know nothing about. Obamam promised many things when running, but quickly turned away from all the promises. He played the moderate democrat. Now we see and know his is an extreme libral against most of what America was built on. White or black i would freel the same. Obama is right up there with Jimmy Carter who was an aweful president.Do your research on his cabinet and the zcars he is putting in..many who have criminal records. Don’t you just love the head of the treasury avoided paying taxes, but will make sure you are prosecuted if you don’t pay yours. How fair is that? Oh! and how about the guy who bombed the pentagon? So nice to see he got in as a zcar too that can over-ride the House and Senate. Hmmmm….next time your kid tried to get a job or someone else you may know who was arrested for stealing or trying to blow your house or car up…remember to hire him okay!

      • Smilee

You got it all wrong, but I do not think you want to know the truth, for starters he was in the senate almost 4 years and before that in the state senate, ACCORN is not allowed to vote and it was the people who voted him into office, ACCORN did not cast one vote, but you will believe what you want to believe, closed minds do that

        • DaveH

          Smilee,
It would help increase your influence on your readers if you could just learn how to spell ACORN.

          • Smilee

Most here are too ignorant to be influenced and the message is more important than the spelling anyway but I suppose you have to say something, despite your great spelling you come off as out of touch

          • DaveH

            Keep dreaming Sleepee.

He didn’t go to jail, as he is a Republican. You know they don’t have to obey the rules.

Your welcome for bailing you out of your houseforclosure and your also
welcome for the new car you won’t pay for either (cash for clunkers atleast we got the obama sticker off the road. You people just want a freakin handout when you get in over your head you want to blame somebody else. The social security system is broke, the Post office is broke, the medicare system is broke, the government motors is broke again! Hmmmm I bet even you clowns could run a business with taxpayer money. You cant run efficient programs when you have an endless supply of tax payer money surely you knew that much. Take the money your saving for those spinners or big screen TV and buy your own insurance plan. I am tired of you freeloaders spending your money on things you want and wanting or expecting the conservative people to pay for your healthcare and retirement. Get off my back and carry your own load awhile!

    • eyeswideopen

Tin, sorry to disappoint you, but I live in a beautiful house on the lake that my husband and I saved for and we buy used cars that have already taken the depreciation hit prior to us purchasing, I am a responsible Republican who is pissed at the rest of the you who I am financing. Every time one of you files for bankruptcy, the rest of us pay in higher interest rates for our business’ and it was a record number of you who obtained no Doc mortgages knowing full well you couldn’t afford it when the ARM changed the rates. I have not received one red cent from the government ever. But you do sound like someone who collected unemployement and is angry that you didn’t have control over your life. My husband saw this coming in 2002, he read the medicare advantage bill, and with the tax cuts he knew this economy was doomed ,so we built in 2003, got low interest rate and 15 yr mtge. we are ok as we saved. We didn’t go on vacations, how many did you enjoy? All the funky things the Repubs were doing, gave us a heads up and we started researching, so we had a golden parachute. We are by no means rich, but we are comfortable and unlike some we don’t need the latest gadgets. Tinman, the conservatives fiscal handling of money sucks, they definately aren’t paying for me.

      • Smilee

          • Smilee

At least I’m not bitter and angry like you are, I wonder if you were looking in the mirror when you saw ignorant and immoral, as that sounds more like you. You ever going to get beyond your ex-wife as that seems a part of the basis of your anger

          • DaveH

You are one sick puppy Sleepee.

          • Smilee

Davie has run out of words to say anything constructive to now we get these cheap shots that reveal his true character

  • Concerned

Why is Obama pushing things down our throats. Why isn’t he asking what the people want, not telling us what he thinks is right for us with his cockeyed ideas. Remember, by the people, of the people, for the people. NOT tell the people. If the politicians want a new health plan, force them to join it too. Then see how meny vote for it. To save money, let the Government take away the cushy pensions all retired politicians get. Let them save for their own retirement like the people do.

  • http://aol.com singcanary

anything government puts its hands on has failed…the U.N is a joke, welfare a failure, medicare a failure, etc.
We will regret giving Government anymore power then we already have. Socialized medicine has proven to be a failure in other countries. Do your homework on this. Once we become socialized, it will be very hard to turn it back to the free market place. Government will have all your medical records for decision making on if you should be eligable for what you need. Keep medical care in the private sector; revise the system to make it more competetive and control the pharmecidical industries who raise the higher prices on meds. We would never be in this mess if SOME people would just work and pay into the sytem by getting health coverage, which they refuse to do. They want Government to feed them, wipe their asses and give them everything free while YOU wook hard to pay for your coverage. Only to find your premiums going up due to those who refuse to work or pay into the system. Get real…now we are going to add illigal aliens to this mess, so they have our rights and free medical? What has happened to America? Obama has a European vision of politics. He has broken several Constitution guidlines already. He wants ONE social class…period. The way to do that is to punish and squeeze the people who are working hard and have succeeded businesswise and keep giving the lazy who refuse to work and live off the Government EVERYTHING free! The Constitution separates government from the private sector.Obama and his administration is changing the Constitution to suit his needs. 2010 will be extremely important to vote these guys out and gain back our rights in the House and the Senate.

    • http://aol.com singcanary

by the way, while this economy is in such dire straights financially and all US people are cutting back on expenses…the Congress just got a BIG raise….how sweet is that. They only work 3 days a week and are off. Sweet job, don’t you think.they would NEVER consider being on the same level as the American people. God forbid. So they will never care or have the same health care plan they expect for us, for themselves either.

      • Smilee

That raise was voted in by the last congress, you know when Bush was president and the house was republicans and Democrats had a one vote margin in the senate. They are willing to give you the same choices as they have with health care. but I guess you are not listening it seems you have closed your mind totally. Just because they are not in session does not mean they are not working, are you really silly enough to believe that. You seem so bitter and angry?

        • DaveH

Another reply from Sleepee the Zombie.

          • Smilee

You can’t deny the truth I espoused can you, thanks for not trying, you only showed you are one of the bitter and angry ones

          • DaveH

            Boo Hoo.

        • DaveH

And I’m willing to give you all Greener Pastures.

          • DaveH

Aren’t hopes and dreams wonderful? We can all be noble philanthropists in our dreams and hope that somehow that will translate into reality.

        • American Citizen

Oh, but they didn’t vote to repeal it, did they? And we won’t get a raise this year. I’d like to make the money they do. Where’s the equality?

  • Smilee

Medicare a failure, it is thought of as the best plan out there now, many companies require you to go on Medicare if you work past 65, and guess what they get superior coverages compared to the plan they have and it saves the employer a lot of money. My sister company pays her $200.00 a month to pay for here medicare and gap plans and they save $150.00 a month, she now has full coverage as opposed to 70/30 plan with a $500.00 deductible per year and $3500 00 OPM each year and none of her co-pays get included in either. she is so much happier with what she has now, I got much better coverages with Medicare at half the cost when I retired, you are totally wrong about this and wrong on all the points you make. Out of touch with reality.

    • DaveH

Yep, and General Motors was making great cars. But somehow they couldn’t sell enough of them to the public to make a profit. Sorry Sleepee, but your grasp of reality is simply hopes and dreams.

      • Smilee

        Davie

reality, and you do not even know the difference between health care and automobiles, again you reveal your lack of brains. So bitter and angry as always

        • DaveH

Another comment by Sleepee which will convince others of his lack of relevance.

  • s c

DaveH, now that the topic has devolved and the ‘best’ the know-nothing whiners can do is whiz and moan about anger and bitterness, it might be a good time to point out that comrade obama is resorting to one of Washington’s oldest tricks. He dares to imply that problems can be solved by passing more legislation, when he and his weasels have no plans to enforce laws we already have.
Obama, the quasi-eternal campaigner, can’t remember that he’s already in the White House, so he’s off on yet another expensive, smoke-and-mirrors campaign trail. This time, the prince of cluelessness had to drag his wife (and oprah?) to Copenhagen. Maybe oprah would wake up if SHE had to pay for the costs of a half-@$$^* trip to Copenhagen and Paris. Maybe oprah is just another george soros wannabe (I’m a legend in my own mind. let’s shop ’til we drop, baby).
You know what the useless, pimped-out media would say if a non-democrat behaved in the same ‘gas-guzzling, mama earth-threatening carbon footprint trail’ way. The circus goes on and on, yet we’re supposed to believe that comrade obama cares or has enough ‘gravitas’ to get things done. Why does harvard produce so many proven l o s e r s, DaveH?

So, DaveH, the radicals want to label you a radical – plus you’re bitter and angry. Hang in there, DaveH. When they get around to calling you anti-American, you’ll have all the proof you need to know the ultralibs have lost what’s left of their self-destructing minds.
The pendulum has swung the other way, and now even SNL recognizes crap for what it is. Comrade obama now has a new [pc?] nickname [Jack Squat]. mmmm mmmm mmmm, it almost restores my faith in the entertainment crowd to entertain without taking sides.
FYI, that psychological evaluation of comrade obama I mentioned several months ago now exists. It should be required reading – especially for ultralibs who preach free speech but couldn’t care less about the survival of the First Amendment or the Constitution.

Insurance is good and if you want it get it . I don’t feel a person should be made to pay for someone else is insurance . when ever someone takes money or goods from someone else ore from one class of people and gives it to another , that is steeling , anyway you look at it it is steeling ! Now when a law is purposed saying ( if you don’t buy insurance you will have to pay a fee ) then you vote for that law then it’s legal stealing . I could put this another way … If you have more then someone else look out
