Just A Jealous Guy

Just A Jealous Guy

Most of us will agree that American elections tend to run about as smoothly as a Detroit-built automobile with bald tires. But some of us seem to be missing the real reason our balloting is more Chrysler (ranked by Consumer Reports as the least reliable brand) than Scion (ranked most reliable). Last week, NAACP President Ben Jealous, in Los Angeles to address the group’s 102nd annual convention, railed against voter ID laws, claiming that efforts to ensure ballots are not cast fraudulently are racist.

According to Jealous, voter ID laws are among “the last existing legal pillars of Jim Crow” and are pressed by “the worst and most racist elements” among conservatives. Of course, Jealous also thinks jailing cop-killers like Mumia Abu-Jamal and Troy Davis is racist; but I suspect Mr. Jealous thinks late newspaper delivery, runny eggs and bald tires are racist, as well.

How unfortunate for Mr. Jealous and his increasingly irrelevant organization that situational irony is paying a visit. While the President of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People excoriated the racist conspiracies that are voter ID laws, Mississippi NAACP officer Lessadolla Sowers peered through the bars of a prison cell, staring down a five-year prison term for convictions on 10 counts of voter fraud.

That’s right, kids. While Jealous castigated conservatives over efforts to introduce voter ID laws to prevent exactly what Sowers did to earn a stretch in the pokey, Sowers began a stretch in the pokey for doing exactly what voter ID laws are designed to prevent. And while I suggested that situational irony is merely paying a visit, it has actually moved in, put up its feet and raided the fridge. For all Jealous’ bluster in L.A. last week, Lessadolla’s lament is hardly the only example of the NAACP and similar liberal groups proving their opponents’ cases.

Elsewhere last week, three Democrats in Wake County, N.C., were placed on $10,000 bond each after admitting to combining for six pro-Obama votes during the 2008 election. Even a teachers’ union victim will recognize that kind of bad arithmetic. It should be noted that North Carolina Governor Bev Perdue vetoed the most-recent attempt by the North Carolina State Legislature to institute a voter-ID law.

In Ohio (the site of the infamous 2004 incident in which a manufactured Democratic talking point led to howls of injustice over the election results) the NAACP was pegged for dozens of verified instances of electoral fraud, including at least one instance in Lake County, Ohio, of the old Democratic ploy: the voting corpse.

I would be remiss in leaving out the supposedly-defunct Democrat group ACORN and its fairly remarkable record of vote-rigging, a record which followed that august group into its “new” iteration earlier this year with a conviction in Nevada.

If I actually recounted the details of every confirmed case of Democrat-leaning groups and individuals turning voting into three-card monte, I would run out of bandwidth faster than the local salons run out of relaxer every time Al Sharpton comes to town.

Obtaining basic, legal identification isn’t particularly complicated. In fact, you have to work to fall completely off the grid. If you succeed, maybe voting isn’t really something you’re cut out for. Do we really want to exhaust ourselves chasing down every moody loner, crack-addled scarecrow and backwoods psychopath to ensure they’ve cast their ballots? “Pardon me, Mr. Nihilist V. Anarchyston. Will you participate in the election and… um… what’s with all the fertilizer?”

And the Democratic rhetoric that voter ID laws are a racist attempt to suppress minority (read: Democratic) turnout is belied by those pesky facts that never seem to make it into a Ben Jealous sermon. Studies by the University of Delaware and the University of Missouri and a 2006 study in which 37 schools participated showed that, in some cases, turnout actually increased in Democratic-majority counties where voter ID requirements were implemented.

Voting isn’t complicated. Stupid and/or illiterate people vote; consider Detroit. The very fate of the Nation depends on a legitimate electorate exercising legitimate balloting. Again, consider Detroit. Ben Jealous and the NAACP say voter ID laws inherently contrast with that exercise. But Ben Jealous and the NAACP are not going anywhere, so I say we keep voter ID laws around for a while.

Ben I think we all know that if you do not give some folks a decided advantage, they will make with the discrimination allegations.
They reserve the right to cheat if neccesary.
It has been done to them in cases decades ago,and now they desire retibution. But will they do it the Dr.King way,or the Malcolm X way? They dont want the up and up way to get in the way of having their way.Where has their honesty and integrity gone?Whether their indignancy is real or imagined(I am not at liberty to judge them on that subject),there are those who would trade the ways for the means.
Let them do as they will, and let God choose who He blesses as a result.
If…by and by He shows us that the NAACP community is right in their indignation, then we’ll have something to celebrate together.
But if the denigration of peoples who are represented by the NAACP continue, then we’ll have to assume that this is not the way to organize the folks which they claim to work for.
Then we can move to dissolve the NAACP.
Let the function lead to the conjunction or the injunction.

Excellent Eyeswideopen; Maybe they can now get a truer picture of voter intimidation and suppression. Voter fraud doesn’t even compare to those who are trying to stop others from voting. Looks like it is 500-1 odds that it is the Republicans doing the intimidating. Should we call them the White Panthers. They do support laws to put more people in jail so maybe they can now be able to see the other side of reality.

        • Connie from SoCal

How can you surmise Republican voter fraud from this Oct. 2008 article? What McCain and others were saying proved true after the election, which is why so many of these people are in jail now.

          • eddie47d

I said voter intimidation by Republicans to keep their opponents from even registering or even thinking about going to the polls. That is far more common than fraud.

          • JeffH

Connie, get used to this skewed type of thinking from the liberals, especially Easy-E and eyes.

Crying foul is what they do…proving the foul exists is pure conjecture but proof is what has landed the likes of NAACP’s Lessadolla Sowers behind bars. The DOJ clearly ignored and dropped the voter intimidation case(whom the equally racist AG Holder refused to prosecute) of the “New Black Panther’s” at the entrance to a polling place near downtown Philadelphia, one of them wielding a nightstick and shouting “You are about to be ruled by the black man, cracker!”

While I do believe voter fraud may exist to a some degree(SEIU Local 1107 backed Harry Reid and controlled the voting machines in Nevada).
A Washington Times article exposed the “SEIU Intimidation Handbook which offers clear instructions on how to harass potential targets.

The allegations are coming from both sides of the isle…somewhere in between lies the truth.

          • eddie47d

This whole site cries foul each and everyday and too often over nothing. You need to stick to relevant issues instead of the tired old BP incident which ended up amounting to nothing and Jeff plays right along with them. You think they could bring up right wing racists and expose them? Never going to happen or too cowardly to do so.

          • JeffH

Easy-E again takes the “road to nowhere”…imaginge that! BP? How on earth did they get involved in this discussion? Oh, that’s right…The road to nowhere starring Easy-E, coming to you live from “The Twilight Zone”…zombie’s included in every episode. Go figure!

          • eddie47d

The BP’s have been mentioned several times. Check the comment at 7:22am and the ones later on . Since you are a Johnny come lately today there are several more earlier ones later on!

          • Kate8

I could never figure out how requiring people to show ID is discriminatory or racially motivated. Isn’t everyone required to hold some form of ID?

If they don’t have any then, it seems to me, they shouldn’t be voting in our elections anyway!

This whole argument is just code for “requiring ID will make it harder for us to cheat!”

Not to worry, though. Libs are very resourceful, and hold a million of ‘em in their back of dirty tricks.

          • swampfox

Of course libs and Dems do not want voter ID they are the ones committing the fraudulent voting. As far as the NAACP goes they are a very racist organization that does nothing and stands for nothing.
They are irrelevant just like Eyes and Eddie.

          • JC

Just another “Race Pimp” with no substance and nothing to contribute.

          • Christin

            Kate8,
            Swampfox,

The NAACP, ACORN, Democrats and other Leftist organizations do not want their voting block to shrink due to ‘legalities’… having an ID to vote… so long as we are NOT talking about a ‘National ID Card’… because if we push for Voter ID… the left will only be too glad to force people to carry National ID cards.

Even illegals can get a driver’s license with a few fake documents… so what’s the problem.
If a Black Americans do not own a car and takes public transportation do they not ever get Driver’s license??? Is that the problem???

Are you guys aware that convicts and even those accused of criminal misdemeanors for smoking pot or DUIs have their driver’s license suspended for a period of time (like a year… don’t know how they expect those persons to drive to work, to the store to buy food, or take their kids to school with out getting into trouble further on their probation, but none-the-less) they would not have a Driver’s License ID to vote…

          • groovydiamond

@kate8: Yes, one needs some form of state issued ID, whether it’s a driver’s license or just an ID card. I know that for decades, I’ve had to show one for employment…that, is legally…have never worked for cash only.

Anyway, back to the essence of the article. I’ve always contended that whoever first plays the race card in any conversation/discussion is, in fact, the racist. I’m a light skinned latina, btw. But I think like latinos, and don’t look at my people through racist-tinted lenses (and there are many hues of skin colors among the latino community). I don’t care what color your skin is…be it white, yellow, black, red, brown…if you play the race card when there hasn’t been any overt proclamation to that effect, then YOU are the racist. You make such claims because that’s how you think…through race-tinted lenses.

I say: GET OVER IT! Joe/Jane Doe, Mr., Mrs. and Ms. Common American you meet on the street don’t think that way. GET OVER IT, already.

        • gypsy

looks like eddie must want voter fraud or why would he say anything. Most people who want to vote legally will vote only those tring to apd the ballot would try and use the race card and white people must be guilty sure eddie you must be the black panther or La Rasa witch one only you know. How do you feel about your master Obama choosing illegal aliens over American citizens or saying gays are normal how do you feel about that eddie good luck to you and your master.

          • eddie47d

Where did I say I wanted voter fraud Ms Gypsy? I stated, otherwise before you posted. You can’t even spell La Raza so stop blowing smoke about other persons. Obama has deported more illegals than any previous President and few are now coming across the border so stop being so wrong. Gays are equal human beings and should be accorded the same rights as you and I. You need to just be honest and admit you have it in for other people.

          • JeffH

gypsy, ignore Easy-E who could use a course in proper grammar himself. He’s touting Obama without any relevant info or statistics…for example:

DHS deportations in fiscal year 2010
            October 8, 2010

DHS deported about 400,000 illegal aliens. About half, (195,000), were convicted criminals. About 33%, (65,000), of the deportees had been convicted of murder or rape or major drug dealing!

How often do we hear from illegal alien apologists that “undocumented immigrants are all good, hard working people who just do the jobs Americans won’t do?” These statistics belie any notion that undocumented immigrants are all good people who just want to work.

By deporting 195,000 illegal aliens the federal government just saved about $7 billion a year in just incarceration costs! By deporting 65,000 murders, rapists and drug dealers the U.S. has become a safer place. Nonetheless our borders remain open to the continued flow of illegal alien criminals.

administrative arrests of illegal immigrant workers are down 77 percent under the present administration, criminal arrests are down 60 percent and convictions are down 68 percent.

“Worksite enforcement has been all but forgotten by the Obama administration,” Mr Smith, a Texas Republican, said. “Millions of Americans are struggling to find work, while an estimated seven million illegal immigrants are working in the U.S. Worksite enforcement could help make those much-needed jobs available for U.S. citizen and legal immigrant workers.”
            http://oregonir.org/Emailing//DHS_deportations_in_fiscal_year%202010.html

          • Kate8

JeffH – It’s a joke, anyway. We all know that once deported, they just turn around and come right back, a bit smarter about how not to get caught. No doubt their also handed an automatic weapon for their trouble.

          • Kate8

            Aaaaarrrgh. “they’re, not “their”.

            Sheesh.

At least I’ve noticed that I’m not the only one making a lot of dumb spelling errors.

Must be something in the water. :)

          • JeffH

Kate8, at least you’re not a hypocrit…only a hypocrit would critisize anothers spelling error then turn around and make an error themself and then deny their own hypocricy …ala Easy-E further down the thread of comments.

          • eddie47d

It wasn’t the spelling I was concerned about but the accusation that I was a member of La Raza. You are such an IDIOT Jeff and an arrogant troll. You don’t care one iota when someone on “your side” lies and makes false accusations. Sadly that has become acceptable of you.

          • JeffH

Easy-E says it wasn’t about the spelling yet this is what he said: “You can’t even spell La Raza”…either you’re lying or your original comment was changed to make it look like you were lying.

Quit whining and admit you are nothing more than a hypocrit Easy-E.

You said it so accept it…all of your excuses can’t change that fact!

          • JeffH

Easy-E, by saying “You don’t care one iota when someone on “your side” lies and makes false accusations” are you now admitting that you lied?

          • Kate8

JeffH – What’s worse is, after reading it again, I see that I was right the first time!

I find myself having these strange spelling glitches lately. It’s weird.

          • JeffH

Kate8, actually “they’re” is correct ie “they are”. Who really cares except for the grammar Nazi’s…Your point was well made and understood. Besides, we ain’t gettin no younger. :)

WHEN he finally completed his transformation of America into a Socialist State , people finally woke up— but it was too late.

Add these up one by one and you get a phenomenal score that points to the fact that Barrack Hussein Obama is determined to turn America into a Marxist-Socialist society.

All of the items in the preceding paragraphs have been put into place.

All can be documented very easily. Before you disavow this do an internet search.

The last paragraph alone is not yet cast in stone. You and I will write that paragraph. Will it read as above or will it be a more happy ending for most of America? ]

If you are an Obama Supporter don’t be angry with me because I think Barrack Hussein Obama is a socialist. Far too many facts support he is indeed a Socialist.

If you seek the truth you will be richer for it.

Don’t just belittle the opposition. Search for the truth. Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Constitutionalists, Libertarians all need to pull together or watch the demise of a free democratic society.

Pray for Americans to seek the truth and take action for it will keep us FREE.

Our biggest enemy is not China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran our biggest enemy is a contingent of politicians in Washington DC.

The government will not help, so we need to do it ourselves.

Question….will you delete this, or pass it on to others who don’t know about Obama’s actions and plans for the USA, so that they may know how to vote in November, 2012 and the ensuing years?

          It’s your decision.

I believe it does matter. How about you?

          • JC

I love it when you post this. “Most” of it is really very relevant.

          • hicusdicus

Void1972, I does not matter anymore the damage is done. Obama has come closer to destroying America than any body or thing in its history. If he or one of his minions gets re elected you may put your head between your legs and kiss your you no what goodbye.

        • http://personalliberty.com Alice

The only people we have on camera trying to intimidate voters are black panther members in Pennsylvania. Our Justice Dept. declined to charge them. The saddest part of this issue is the little black chidren who are being short changed by NCAAP and other black leaders along with liberal politicians who want to keep them poor and dependent. There is nothing keeping black people from succeeding other than these clowns who keep telling them they cannot succeed. Before integration, black people were doing everything in spite of the persecution they endured. Then the caring liberal machine began to tell them they don’t have a chance and must accept handouts and hate the hand that is feeding them. As long as they keep drinking that kool-aid, they will continue to be at the bottom of the pile.

          • eddie47d

I do believe Alice overdosed on that spiel. So who is the one who needs to kick the “kool Aid” habit?

          • Kate8

What Alice said wasn’t the gospel and she was even off base.

          • JC

Absolutely right Alice. Black people have been voting Democrat for 50 years and for the most part, they’re still poor and uneducated. There’s a reason for that…

          • JeffH

Easy-E, the first 2 sentances in Alice’s post were facts. The balance of her comments were her opinion, which I tend to agree with.

Your little snide “snippit” of remarks towards her was uncalled for but oh so typical of you…she wasn’t preachin’ so it becomes rather obvious Alice wasn’t preaching the gospel…at least to normal people.

      • Pete NY “R I P FEDERAL RESERVE BANK”

SALON seems to be a racist rag. That article is severely slanted to the left POV. Quoting:

Is it a racist strategy? Yes, absolutely — but I am by no means saying that Republicans are [overtly] racist, because prejudice isn’t the motivation here. It is simply easier to target minorities because they are the more recognizable Democratic voters and because neighborhood segregation allows Republicans to quite effectively focus their voter suppression efforts. In short, African-Americans and Latinos are perfect targets.”

The conclusion is inescapable: blacks and latinos must vote Republican from now on. The Democratic Party has been a pox on the life of minorities.

        • http://gunner689 gunner689

disbanding the Black Socialist Caucus in Congress would be a giant step in the right direction. Blacks in general need to realize that we are all in this boat together. What happens to America happens to them as well. If they want to see our Nation decline into some Third World has-been country then they need to look only as far as their beloved Africa to see the end results.

          • eddie47d

“We are all in this boat together”. That is an interesting reply and welcomed. If only the majority of conservatives believed that.

          • Kate8

            Actually, we do recognize that.

Unfortunately, it’s the Left who wants everything their way, and seeks only to shove the Right out of the boat.

          • eddie47d

Now I thought it was the Right trying to shove the Left out of the boat. LOL

          • Kate8

Uh….Just who’s at the helm, eddie?

Who are the ones telling conservatives to sit down and shut up?

      • Rich

The site that is mentioned, look at the date! Some things might

change, though obviously it wouldn’t fit the way you would like it to.

        Just my opinion.

    • professor

Americans, as I see it, really don’t care about the indignation of the most racist class of people in the country….that is….”low income blacks” that blame white Americans for everything in their lives. Neither do Americans care what the NAACP or any other racist organization has to say, including “Mr. Jealous!” (I think that his name is highly appropriate.) And, lets not forget Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and others that make their livings by, “shaking down,” businesses and organizations.

The way I see it, when Americans vote a black president in office, that just about squelches the claims that blacks are suffering from anything except their own criminal lifestyles… They bring everything on themselves.

      • Kate8

professor – The low-income blacks have become tools of the Left. They’ve been completely molded into resentment and militance by having these ideas drummed into them by the “compassionate” Left, who buys their votes with entitlement checks.

The whole problem with this “multicultural” idea is that we are forever being engineered (manipulated) for a bigger purpose: our own ultimate destruction.

  • Morduin00

OK… before you all start on me about being a racist for this comment, I am going to do the manly thing and deny it…

Is ‘Mr. Jealous’ the worst pimp name or what?

    • Jyrine

By golly youre right Morduin00. Thanks for pointing that out;o)LOL

  • Linda H.

You know – I remember having to bring proof of ID when I first started voting in 1976. Whatever happened to that? I bet MOST states still have a law on the books that is conveniently ignored…….

    • professor

No one should be allowed to vote without having a voter registration card and ID! Period! We need ID to cash a check, and for just about everything we do in life. People that don’t want to have to give identification, are the very ones intent on committing “voter fraud.”
Just think, without voter fraud, the progressives…including the muslim….would never win elections!

      • newspooner

Probably it is good for banking and voting, but beware of it getting evolved into “Your papers, please” in general public places. The Establishment tyrants always try to push things into the realm of the improper and tyrannical. American liberty is in extreme danger now, and we need to be careful not to let it slip away.

    • jeanelane

I am not sure about most states requiring ID. I have voted in 2 states, neither of which required ID. Just give them your name and they check it off. I could have used a neighbor’s name then come back and voted with my own name. Especially in the crowds during a presidential election, I’d never be noticed. And if you can get by the registration itself – that would be real voter fraud. And I am sure it happens. How many illegals have SSNs?

  • home boy

that’s right. we don’t need these laws. we have the BLACK PANTHERS watching all movement in and around the voting centers. and don’t forget that if they break the law they won’t be prosecuted.

    • Jyrine

Laws? What laws? We don’t need no stinkun laws, we got the Black Panthers.

      • hicusdicus

Have you ever read the black panthers manual written by Claude Balls.

        • gypsy

No but I’m sure the black panthers will be leading the riots and attacking the white people they are testing the waters in some of our cities as you will suspect left wing media has not reported on it. All I can say be ready for all out attacks from groups that are attacking only white people. be prepared to defend your self and your familys police will not. Have you heard of any arrest of the blacks that attack the whites in those cities?

          • eddie47d

Yes, it happened in Denver (called welding) where blacks attacked whites and the perps were indeed arrested. That was last year and it was stopped cold.

        • ValDM

Well, that flew right over most of their heads, didn’t it? I remember that one from a long time ago………thanks for the laugh.

    • mark

They did this at two precincts and they were in all black neighborhoods. But I agree they should not have been allowed to stand in front of voting locations. Neither should all these political hacks handing out literature and pamphlets. They have a year or more to push their candidates, on election day they should all just stay away.

      • home boy

i know that . it was a joke . but the truth. meaning it can happen anywhere

        • hicusdicus

Homeboy, Mark is living proof of a joke gone wild.

      • independant thinker

Two precincts are two too many and it does not matter what kind of neighborhood it occurs in.

      • Connie from SoCal

So why did the pictures show whites at the polls if these were all black communities?

        • gypsy

you were only seeing selective views

        • mark

They were from the press. This was all the New Black Panthers wanted: media coverage. Once you get that even joke organizations like the Panthers (I think they have 14 members) are taken seriously by all kinds of fearful, ill-informed Americans.

          • eddie47d

You’re mistaken Mark. They have a total of 15 members not the thousands that the Right tries to make it out to be.

By requiring ID’s the Democrat party can’t use dead ringers, illegal aliens, Convicts, or other underhanded methods to rig the elections. Remember the Florida 2000 elections?

    • Jyrine

      Right on Martin!

    • mark

Yeah but that one was rigged by Republicans. Gore lost, Bush won.

      • http://gunner689 gunner689

Ever heard of the Electortal College ? Every re-count in Fla. showed that Bush won as did the courts. sore looser.

  • Alej

“Voting isn’t complicated. Stupid and/or illiterate people vote; consider Detroit.”

The root of the problem. Stupid, illiterate, lazy welfare parasites, etcetera, wouldn’t be allowed to vote if stringent voter qualifications hadn’t been erased by the Democrats in the 1960s.

If one doesn’t contribute to the country, that person shouldn’t be allowed to have a voice in the direction it takes. And look where we’re headed now.

    • eddie47d

Voter ID cards are only good to keep someone from voting twice. Beyond that a drivers license or any legitimate ID should suffice. If you are a legal citizen and 18 then you should fulfill your obligation and vote in every election. Those who don’t vote allow a small vocal portion of America to push their agenda. That can be Democrats and Republicans alike. No one should discourage voting and if they do they are the ones who are UN-American.Voter fraud is indeed theft but denying a person the right to vote would be an even greater theft.

      • Kate8

eddie – I disagree. People who have absolutely NO understanding of the system, the parties, the candidates or the issues should not be rounded up and paid to vote.

That is a huge travesty, and is a favorite ploy of the Left.

        • eddie47d

Some are “rounded up” because they don’t have a way to the polls. It’s called being kind to those who don’t have the ability to cast their vote. That’s why I favor mail in ballots to help avoid comments like yours.

          • Kate8

            Only in your world, eddie.

          • http://gunner689 gunner689

they have no trouble finding the liquor store.

    • mark

Right, the Founding Slaveholders wanted a system like you are calling for. Only large land-owners i.e. the well-to-do and the rich would be allowed to vote. They came up with these noble ideas over breakfast while listening to their slaves scream from the whipping. What glorious heroes they were to all humanity!

      • JeffH

mark, mark, mark, your racist rhetoric is really wearing thin…when all else fails, pull out the race card…even your mentor, Alinsky, would be proud.

I haven’t seen you criticize eddie one single time for his TRULY tasteless remarks.

            How is that?

          • eddie47d

…and Kate,we don’t see you criticizing Jeff for his tasteless remarks towards me or Mark. So who is giving the free pass?

Just read unbiased history. One more thing, I resent your insults against the Founding Fathers, it shows how stupid and ignorant you are.

        • Karolyn

I there any such thing as “unbiased history?” Every writer has his own perspective.

        • JC

      • http://gunner689 gunner689

Mark; you’re obviously an adolesent who needs a dose of reality. Quit watching “Roots” and listening to your Socialist teachers, proffs.
Beating a slave would be like intentionally driving your new Corvette into a tree. Morons like you wouldn’t make a zit on a Founding Father’s behind. If you can’t stand America go over to sub-equatorial Africa and try living for a couple of years. I guarantee it will revamp your thought process.

      • Kate8

mark – The idea was that you had to own land to vote.

The reason was to prevent what we have today: a majority of poor deciding who pays taxes and how much, and voting themselves entitlements out of the largesse of others.

It’s just too big of a temptation for politicians to make promises of money to the lower class in order to get votes. And, of course, the only place to get that money is from those who earn it.

You really think this is more fair?

  • luvmyusadou

The most important act we do in the USA is VOTE. I for one do not want my vote canceled out by some illigal voter. I have to show my ID for everything, includig getting a discount card at a super market. Stop the bull crap with this racist garbage. When they can’t give a legite urguement, the race card is used.. It is getting tired and old. All states should have ID law for voting. I suggest we start with the president to show his true ID.

Jyrine my wife is also 62. She is a scientist and a retired oil company VP. You two would get along just fine. She has an IQ of 165 but says it must have been out to lunch when she married me.

You should have to show a {Photo ID} to vote.

There is nothing wrong with that at all. I also feel that you should not be able to vote if you don’t pay tax’s!
I also feel you should not be able to vote if you have been convicted of a Felony, and or are in Jail for any crime.

I also feel that if your on the system by way of WF, you should not be able to Vote. And why should you be able to vote, you give nothing to the social net so you should have ZERO voice in it.

I am of color let alone a total mixed bag so don’t give me that do do good BS that its being a raciest to ask if you are who you are.
Thats 100% total Raw Bull Sh*t!

    • eddie47d

I’m sure you are including the wealthy who don’t pay taxes? I’d love to see a millionaire denied the right to vote. It will never happen. Some of you rail against airport security as an intrusion against your personal freedoms yet that is total equality. Everyone is searched regardless if young, old, black, brown ,cripple or even white and you must have an ID. So that may seem to make a Voter ID a simple problem with a simple solution which it is. I have no sympathy for those who commit voter fraud yet thankfully it is still a rare occasion.

      • luvmyusadou

It appears by your statement that you have never worked the polls. Right out of the graves, they come to vote. Takes at least 12 months to remove the decease from the voting polls books.

        • hicusdicus

Jusy 12 months to get the dead off the voting poll rolls. Its takes years to get the dead off the welfare rolls!

        • eddie47d

It is true that it takes a year to be knocked off of the voter rolls luvmyusadou; Is that like in the Zombie movies? The Night of the Living Dead! Get real, a person who voted isn’t going to take the chance of voting again without being recognized the second time. That is not worth any prosecution or anybodies time. The real problem is to get people to vote and to take part in the voting process.

          • TIME

            Ed,
No what was posted is the TRUTH. It all depends on where you live as to how long ot takes to be removed from state voter rolls.

In New York we know of people who are still on the rolls who have been dead as long as 25 years, that far excedes 1 year or 12 months.

The fellow that lived in the home I bought on Long Island got a note from the Democratic party every year that I owned the home. I owned it for 21 years yet he died 4 years before I bought the home.
So thats 25 years and he still on the books.

I knew a fellow who lived in LA he passed on in 1979, yet he is alledged to have been voting ever since. I know this as his name is marked off every year that he voted, How do I know that, I have a friend that works the polls.
But hey I am sure where you live everything is up to snuff.

          • eddie47d

Good grief Time,If you truly had a friend in LA that works at the polls for that many years and allowed someone to vote for that long and didn’t report it as illegal I would say that “friend” of yours is far more guilty for allowing it to continue. You still call that person a friend?

          • TIME

            Ed,
Again you are trying to make something thats not what it is.

It was reported over and over again and the State never did anything about it Ed. So is that clear enough for you or should I post it LARGER for you to see?

The facts are that state governments are just as moraly bankrupt as the feds.

      • Jyrine

Wow down there eddie47d. Voter fraud is being honed to razors edge by the Democommies. If we don’t tighten the rules in the 2012 vote it’ll be over for the Republic.

        • eddie47d

Is there voter fraud, probably. Is is it a serious rampant problem? Sorry ,it is rare so your comment about it being “honed to a razors edge” is a falsehood. More of the sky is falling verbiage.

      • TIME

        Ok, You got me Ed,

So how did you derive that the Wealthy don’t pay any TAX’S?

Perhaps you have missed the fact that I have stated countless times here, we work until “”October for FREE,”" as in thats how much in TAX’s we pay.

So perhaps you should show us what your talking about, as in give us some examples rather than the same old worn out media hype, or what its better known as – worthless BULL SH*T.

Just a simple example from me, when we lived on Long Island the School tax alone per year was $31,762.00.
Keep in mind thats just a TAX for Public schools. BTW ~ of what we had no child in. Oh and BTW, thats the old folks rate!

Our Property TAX was $41,950.00 per year and was going up to $55,700.00 but we moved, Thank GOD. Again this is the OLD Folks rate!

So please do show us where it is we don’t pay tax’s. We all await your gifts of wisdom.

        • eddie47d

You mean like the phony “words of wisdom” from Hicusdicus above. Apparently you are not aware of loopholes that allow some folks (rich and poor) to get more money back than they paid in. Just saying!

          • Kate8

eddie – If the wealthy don’t pay taxes, and the bottom half+ of the country doesn’t pay taxes, just who does? They rake in an awful lot of money for it just to come from the rapidly diminishing middle-class.

You just want them to pay MORE taxes.

I’ll bet you don’t pay much, if any. And I’ll bet that if they wanted to take more of YOUR money, you’d oppose it.

          • eddie47d

I’ve always argued that the Middle Class is taking it in the shorts. So what is your point and are you going to turn me into the potty police for using the word shorts? I’ve also heard plenty of vile remarks against the working men and women of America as lazy and undeserving. Right here on this site so don’t play pious with me.

          • JeffH

Easy-E says to Kate8…”so don’t play pious with me”.

I don’t think Kate8 was playing “pious” with you or anyone else Easy-E. Liberals just like you, Easy-E, seem to be the ones that “feign” innocence and rightgeouness on this board and more often than not abhor those that are pious.

          • Kate8

JeffH – Is it just me or are more and more of eddie’s posts not making much sense?

Did you see your name in the USA paper and got a little flush over the matter of wealth? well myself and a young lady were stopped in a drugstore once and the Sheriff’s deputy wanted to see her ID and mine. So I produced my ID but Hazel counld not produce her’s she had left it at home in her pocketbook. We were riding my Harley so she left it at home but the Deputy was talking about taking her to jail for being out in public without ID. You can’t walk the streets of Louisiana without ID in this world or in most other states for that matter. Then it just goes to show you just what kind of people we are dealing with. The NAACP has no real grip on the reality that is today’s world.

I believe that convicted felons are already ineligible to vote. To denie a right to vote over not paying tax’s is another issue. There are lots of reasons some people don’t pay tax. That is true Time but tell the whole truth. 15 states allow inmates to vote and 17 other states allow those on parole to vote.(32 states total)That is not voter fraud if it is legal which you seem to be implying.

          • hicusdicus

eddie, which state were you an inmate in? Did you get a lot of free proctology exams?

          • eddie47d

Hicusdicus; Are you from the Planet of the Apes?

          • hicusdicus

Yes Eddie I am, we all are.

    • hicusdicus

I am of color also, pink with shades of freckles. Even if you have a dark tan and I don’t, I fully agree. If we agree we are buddies color don’t matter. If one doesn’t agree put a judge in their mouth and explain court procedure. [ Judge, a revolver that shoots buck shot, a legal hand held sawed off shot gun. designed to stop people for taking what is rightfully yours.] The judge works very good at interpreting the law.

      • Jyrine

Until the Progressives manage to eliminate the 2nd Ammendment.

        • hicusdicus

Jyrine, for this Taurus has the public defender. My wife has two of them. You should look into them. You seem like the type of person would appreciate ultimate personal authority. This is my highest compliment to you.

          • http://gunner689 gunner689

You’re right. I own both the Judge and the Public Defender and love them both. Put a Crimson trace on the Judge but they don’t make one for the PD yet. I carry the PD in the car and the Judge is beside the bed. God help the poor confused youth who descides to go “Wilding” on my family or myself. I only wish they chambered 6 instead of 5. One more for the undertaker.

          • http://gunner689 gunner689

I own both the Judge and the PD. Crimson Trace on the Judge. PD travels with me at all times. God help the poor misbegotten youth who decides to go “Wilding” on my family or myself. Only wish they held 6 rounds; one more for the undertaker.

        • hicusdicus

Gunner if 5 rounds of 000 buck has not solved the problem it is probably unsolvable. But then again, how about a public defender in each hand. I have 5 PDs and two 3x3s and around 4000 rds of ammo. I think Obama is serious about bringing America to its knees.

          • http://gunner689 gunner689

i was thinking of multiple targets. nothing wrong with the kneeling position. Not as steady as prone or setting but easier than off-hand.

          • http://gunner689 gunner689

I wish someone would make a speed loader for the Judge, or better yet a belt fed semi-auto Judge. Now that would be the ticket for riot control.

    • JeffH

TIME, here are some interesting statistics from research done by the Brennan Center for Justice titled:

Investigator’s Guide to Voter Fraud…Up to 10% of the voting-age population does not have state-issued photo identification. This rate is disproportionately higher among minorities, low-income populations, youth, and the elderly. A recent Wisconsin study, for example, found that 78% of black men aged 18-24 had no valid driver’s license.

      • eddie47d

Bingo! They don’t have a drivers license so you want to deny them the right to vote. Which you are sincerely implying. Take your mask off Jeff for you can’t hide anymore.

        • JeffH

A little schooling is in order for Easy-E…if you can’t legitimize who you say you are, should you be allowed to vote? Just answer that very simple question if you can.

These are votes that the Dems rely on so it’s only natural that they wouldn’t want these “potential” votes to be surpressed and instead resort to the calls of “racism” as the basis of their arguement.

          • eddie47d

Voter ID is fine with me but if someone doesn’t have one then a utility bill or other proof and the fact that person is in the voter book should be enough to allow a citizen to vote.If another person goes to the poll and someone has voted in their place then that would be an issue.Yet you never hear that so it is all smoke and mirrors in disenfranchising someone. Jeff is way to anxious in disallowing legitimate citizens the opportunity to vote. Now that is an old Republican trick or is it now a Libertarian trick also.

          • JeffH

Easy-E says “Jeff is way to anxious in disallowing legitimate citizens the opportunity to vote.” How would anybody know if they are “legitimate” voters without a state issued “ID”? Take their word for it? The only way to legitimize a voter would be with a verifiable state issued ID which is readily available through every DMV in the USA or, as in some states, other required forms of ID which are deemed acceptable in said states.

Thirty states require all voters to show ID before voting at the polls. In 14 of these, the ID must include a photo of the voter; in the remaining 16, non-photo forms of ID are acceptable. There are just three states–Oregon, Vermont and Wyoming–that don’t have a voter ID law on there books. 20 states did not have laws requiring voter ID at the polls at the beginning of 2011, but saw legislation proposing it this year.
            http://www.ncsl.org/Default.aspx?TabId=16602

        • JeffH

…and another thing Easy-E in your feeble response is that a “driver’s license” isn’t the only ID alternative.

Have you ever heard of state issued photo ID cards? Every state has them but you’ll need to bring proof of who you are and proof of your address, along with your Social Security number to get your ID card.
You may have to leave a thumb or fingerprint though.
Most states do not charge senior citizens for a photo ID card.

          • eddie47d

Okay that is fine but what does that have to do with your snippy response. Oh, I forgot that is now your “normal”.

          • JeffH

…”snippy responses”? Oh puhleeese “Mr. Innocent” hypocrit Easy-E…please go there…I’d be happy to scan the threads present and past and re-post your hypocritical comments, as”snippy” as they are.

          • eddie47d

Go for it Jeff for you have made false accusations before.

          • JeffH

You make it way to easy Easy-E…be carefull what you ask for.

        • hicusdicus

          • http://gunner689 gunner689

I say bring back the Jim Crow Laws. If you don’t work and pay taxes, unless you’re actually handicapped or a retiree, you can’t vote.

  • Dale Hogue

The voter should be an American citizen. The voter must live in the district where the voter votes. The voter should be registered. The voter should be able to prove that the voter is who the voter claims to be. What is so hard about these very simple rules? I admit that some voting has been done by dead people — they always have and they always will — but I’m not quite sure how these dead people prove who they are to the person who checks that type of thing where live people are registered and are suppose to vote. If a voter can’t produce identification to prove who the voter is, why is that voter allowed to vote? Isn’t a live person suppose to produce some kind of identification? Or am I missing something here?

    • MrDave98765

I totally agree! If one is honest, he doesn’t mind showing his ID. As for the others – well why should we even have to debate this? If they don’t want to show an ID, they are free to leave the polls – or free leave the country!

      • Jyrine

        I’ll help em!

    • eye1iris

Sir, you are forgetting absentee ballots. All the person has to do is avow that they are the person who is legally entitled to receive that absentee ballot, for one of the elegible reasons. C’mon now, tell me a person who is intent on committing voter fraud is going to let a little thing like this stop them. I also know from experience that it takes the county many years to remove dead people from the rolls. I’m not sure just how dead a person has to be to be removed, but after 2 years, I told the county to remove my father-in-law, and it took another full year. Apparently, they don’t read the obits. You can bet the criminals do.

      • Jyrine

The Democomies are honing voter fraud to a razors edge and the stakes are so high for 2012 all bets are off. The Progressives will not let anything stand in their way of a victory for the Kenyan.

      • Connie from SoCal

eye1: There is definitely a problem with removing the deceased from the mailing of mail in ballots. Three years after I bought my home I received the mail in for the woman who had died 5 years previously along with mine. I could have voted twice at that time but, instead, I wrote “Deceased” on the envelope and sent it back. End of this problem. BUT…two years later I received one for my daughter-in-law. They had moved out of state so she had to have used my address for several things, including her Handicap placard. Twice I’ve had to return this to CA. Last round (this year) they didn’t send it again. Of course I blame my D-i-L for doing the illegal. She claims otherwise, but then she also gave my address and phone # for a credit card, which I discovered when she became delinquent. Corrected this issue immediately and let my son know what was going on. She lied to him as well. It’s too easy to get hands on formerly legal ballots.

        • eddie47d

In Colorado only the cards that are sent back will receive a ballot unless you are on a permanent residency list which I am. All voter who don’t vote in an election have to sign up again to receive a mail in ballot.Denver County has gotten fairly good at tracking the correct address but a few do slip through. More people like yourself should return those voter cards if someone has moved or died. That helps too.

  • downs1

Mr. Jealous is a bigot, pure and simple! He hates white people and to him everything is “racist” except the most racist people — those like the Rev. Jesse Jackson, the Rev. Al Sharpton, and of course the Rev. Jeremiah Wright who thrive on racism! How about the Black Panther leader who yelled out to the Black crowd, “I hate crackers!” This is not to say that racism doesn’t exist on the other side. It does, but not every White person is a racist, nor is every Black

One has to wonder how many people across this nation have been and are in office fraudulantly. The number is probably quite astonishing, especially in those areas where there has been no effective voter ID program. We were once a nation of laws, but more and more we are becoming like the banana republics. Laws are ignored and the one with the most goons to intimidate voters are the winners . . . like maybe the Black Panthers who are being protected by Eric Holder and the DOJ! It is no joke to hear people brag how many times they voted. And most often they vote for the Democrat! Wake up America!

    • eddie47d

Do you and James below fight as hard for Financial Reform or even Campaign Reform. Some complain about a few cases of voter fraud but say nothing about Corporate fraud or fraud with campaign donations. Ben(the author) has brought up the race card at least a dozen times and always tries to demonize the minority side as all crooks and villains. You all seem to love it or you wouldn’t be making some of the comments I hear. The fact that the one Black Panther is always brought up is a sign of desperation. That one BP (Mr Shabazz) is an evil thinker but committed no crime since no one was disallowed from voting. The other Panther there was a legal voter who lived there. So Holder probably did the right thing in releasing Mr Shabazz. The police in America already go around and bust heads over minor infractions so why waist time on something that was overblown. These kinds of stories (Ben’s) intimidate people in believing the worst of others and is indeed attempting to keep lower income Americans from voting. If Mr Jealous is guilty of voter fraud then he will be dealt with if not, then this is a lynch mob. Mr Sowers is the one who is guilty of voter fraud and is serving time for it and that means the system is working.

You state that”….these kinds of storys are attempting to keep lower income Americans from voting.” Would you like to explain that statement? It fails the smell test, and makes no sense. How does this story keep people from voting? Indeed how does a Voter ID requirement keep people from voting? You need ID to cash a check, open a bank account, collect un-employment, for God’s sake! An ID is required to rent an apartment….. This is a rediculas arguyment that fails to hold water.

The original KKK was a foil against the Nothern acts of terrorism against the South after the Civil War. The North called it Reconstruction the South called it something else. The DW Griffith movie “Birth of a Nation” told it like it actually was.

  • http://jassyl@centurytel.net James Kirksey

Voter ID is simply an absolute. Those who want to deceive and use ambigious means to win an election do not want truth (absolutes). It would be great if voting were connected to valid picture ID, nation-wide. The NAACP, Jesse Jackson’s Rainbow, Al Sharptons Gang, Civil Liberties Union and the such are no more than extortionist, who are funded after threatening organizatikons and individuals with their disapproval, protest marches and court actions. Liberal bought judges have too long gave them a pass on their illegal actions. It is time to stand up to these organized gangs and restore the freedoms provided by our constitution.

  • JoMama

I have to show my ID when I vote. I have to show my ID when asked by police. I have to show an ID when buying liquor. I have NO problem showing ANYONE my ID!! So what??? People have to show an ID. I do not see ANYTHING racist about that!! I don’t know how anyone CAN make it a racist issue!! The NAACP is racist. Mr. Ben Jealous is racist. He hates white people. If the white people DON’T want them to show an ID – Mr. Ben Jealous will make it a racist issue somehow.
    UN-FRIGGIN-BELIEVABLE!!!
What is this world coming to??

  • Robert Lebischak

Isn’t it a requirement in many states that a person carry an ID in case of emergency, or if your asked by legal authorities. How can you drive to vote, then say you don’t have to have your drivers license to prove who you are? This guy is the racist if he truly believes what he says. What’s wrong with an ID, I spent many years wearing a uniform and defending this Nation, I had to have an ID then, and don’t mind having one now. Let’s be real, voting to me is the greatest responsibility a citizen has, so lets make sure it’s done legally, having an ID will not kill you, but not having one when voting could kill a Nation by illegal voting.

    • hicusdicus

Robert, what you say is so obviously correct that only a total moron could argue against it. But apparently we have a country full of moron and imbeciles.

    • Jyrine

      Excellent Robert! Bravo!

    • mark

Right but everytime anyone on the left or the center suggests a national ID card, the right goes crazy and claims it is going to be used to track gun-owners, to round up people for FEMA internment camps, to help the UN blue helmets conquer American on Obama’s orders, and a whole pile of related cuckoo-clock, paranoid, nonsense. A national ID card would be a good idea but good luck trying to get it passed with all the gun-rights, survivalist, UN paranoid loonies in this country.

      • independant thinker

A national ID card is a pi$$ poor idea because it would add another federal agency if for no other reason. The states already have ID cards either your drivers license or a non driver ID which is all that is needed.

  • MrDave98765

Voter fraud is committed by ‘whites’ also. So how is preventing it racist??? Is their protest saying that they commit more than whites and therefore preventing it would hurt their cause more???

    • Rich

How’s the view of earth from your planet?

    • http://www.soldbylynch.com Brian

How is it racist, Bob, to show a picture ID(not even a ‘Voter Card’) to PROVE that you are eligible to vote? How do you even see things that way??? I am at a loss – you apparently have drank the ‘kool aid’!
You know – it’s not because Obama is black(he’s actually half black and half white!) that conservatives don’t like him…IT’S because he is a socialist/communist! We would(as conservatives) vote for a black woman – if she ran(Condoleeza Rice) so don’t give me that racist claptrap regarding who should vote!

      • mark

Because the vast Republican campaign for Photo IDs to vote is designed to suppress the minority i.e. largely Democratic vote. Numerous African American and Latin American U.S. citizens do not own cars because of their poverty and thus have no photo ID drivers licenses which will serve as IDs for the majority of voters. So the minority citizens would have to go down to a government office and get a photo ID. In many states, though not all, they would have to pay for one. Many poorer blacks and hispanics suspicious of the government anyway (My God how many conservatives and libertarians on this site do not trust their own government!)and lacking excess funds probably will not go down and get a photo ID or pay for one in the states where it is required. Without one they cannot vote. Therefore this is a perfect Republican strategem to suppress the minority (Democratic) vote while appearing as Crusaders for honest elections, when the reality shows that very little voter fraud occurs in our system. It is a brilliant ploy that Republicans are pushing hard this year and next to knock down the minority vote which goes overwhelmingly to the Democrats. That is why many view it as a cynical and racist scheme to gain political advantage.

        • Song

Mark your examples are pathetic! The poor blacks and hispanics you mention can’t afford ten bucks to get an ID card? I bet they can afford their smokes and alcohol and satellite TV ahahahahahhahahahahaha what a joke!

    • TheRealBob

Bob: What a lying crock. The rascists are those who are constantly using the race card to bully and intimidate others when they have no valid argument. An honest election system is vital to the health of America and democrats have spent decades trying to subvert this system. Voter IDs would keep a lot of democrats from “voting early and voting often” as the old sdage goes. It is time to start pointing out the fact that is is the blacks who are the most rascist in this country and it is time to quit being intimidated by their lies.

      • eddie47d

Voter fraud is far and few between. Yet this site always brings up the black issue and emphasizes “evil black leaders”. The opinions are usually against blacks so minorities are indeed labeled and scorned. The comments are the proof of the pudding. Never stop taking on the issue of voter fraud and work in your community to see that it doesn’t happen. We can’t change the past when millions were denied the right to vote and we can’t swing the other way condemning any black leader of voter intimidation.

        • mark

eddie47d, I agree this site’s articles always appeal to the worst emotional fears of its majority white participants, ginning up the racial fears and hatred. Yesterday in an article about riots all over the world in the UK, Israel, Greece, Spain, Portugal and the Arab world, entitled “How Far Will the Fires Spread,” what photo was chosen at the top of the article – a menacing black man of course even though lots of whites looted and rioted as well. And in Israel, Spain, Portugal, and most of the Arab world no or few blacks participated in any of the disturbances. But the authors on this site know whose buttons to push.

          • hicusdicus

Mark, Arabs are not black? I guess they are just not white.

          • Song

More distortions of the truth from Mark. Who was the perpetrator that allegedly caused the rioting in London? Just like your liberal cohorts, you are patently dishonest. I am sure that you are well aware that Mark Duggan was a BLACK man and that the rioters were predominately BLACK. That is a FACT although you try so hard to ignore them.

        • Connie from SoCal

The focus is due to what ACORN and the New Black Panthers were found doing in the last election. Lucky for the NBP that they have Holder on their side and not prosecuted as they should have been. But ACORN members (now under a new name) have been tried and found guilty in the majority of the States of America. Does this not tell you something? Does it not matter that both are black organizations, or that they were well entrenched in voter fraud and intimidation? Get real for a change and take those dark sunglasses off in order to see the light.

          • eddie47d

The Koch’s two weeks ago got involved in vote intimidation and fraud in Wisconsin. They are rich and white yet no charges have yet to be filed. Just saying!

          • JeffH

Easy-E, I suppose you can provide this evidence or even the link to the Koch Brothers “so called” voter intimidation in Wisconsin?

What you are talking about are the allegations of “vote caging”, which has been used by both political parties and their associates.
It ain’t “intimidation” as you have mis-represented.

          • eddie47d

Voter misrepresentation by Republicans in Wisconsin by sending out phony ballot applications, places to vote and wrong date of election. Yes sir that is indeed intimidation and even fraud.

          • JeffH

Once again Easy-E can only come up with his own twisted progressive interpretation of “intimidation”…matches the same rhetoric of the progressive left’s version…since when does “misrepresentation” equal “intimidation”?I won’t embarass you again with the Webster Dictionary definitions, which are quite different from the progressive dictionary. It doesn’t!

          • eddie47d

If someone is deliberately sent to the wrong polling place to keep their vote from counting and on the wrong day then as I said it is indeed intimidation.Still trying to play mind games aren’t you Jeff.

          • JeffH

Easy-E, in your case that would be an effortless feat, but no, I’m just stating the facts. Whether you choose to accept them or not is strictly up to you and your mind.

        • TheRealBob

Another lie from a lying lieberal – vote fraud is widespread and the only reason it is so widespread is that the democrats control the in-justice system and because no one has the guts to take on the whining minorities who are responsible for most of the vote fraud. In St. Clair Country, Illinois (where I live) the country chairman drives down to the ghetto on election day with a pile of money to pass around. When the vote fraud became so obvious that not even the morons at Fools, Buffoons, and Idiots (aka the FBI)could ignore it a low level stooge went to prison for a couple of years. The democrats had a going away party for him which was attended by all the corrupt democrats in the county. When he got out, he got a nice job from the democrats. In the last election, when the democrat crook fell behind, the ghetto produced a mass of votes at the last minute to assure victory for the democrat. Anyone who says that vote fraud is infequent is nothing but a liar.

          • eddie47d

Some voters have made up their minds months before an election. Yet there are those who do wait until the last minute and can never make up their minds. Then they rush to the polls (maybe because of some last minute TV ad). That hardly constitutes fraud. Maybe wishful thinking from the other side that they stay home.

          • Don

Bob i agree with you, also look what happened in Nev. with harry the lier !!

I am so exhausted from the “racist card” being flashed for everything from “the service was slow” to “I couldn’t find a parking place.” Facetious examples, I know, but illustrative of how inappropriate it is to call requiring a voter to prove who he is, where he lives, and that he is a registered voter before he is allowed to cast a ballot a racist plot. The only way this could be a racist plot would be if only people of color were required to present such proof and that is not the case.

How can it be unreasonable (translate racist) to require a person to present ID in order to vote. As a citizen of NC, I am angry, though not surprised, that Gov. Purdue vetoed the attempt to establish a Voter ID Law in NC. How can anyone with the ability to think logically not see the need for such a regulation? Add to that, does she not read the newspapers? How can she be unaware of the very crimes the law would help prevent when some have been committed in Wake County?

Until the true citizens (translate legal, whether natural or naturalized) of this nation demand accountability at the voting booth and from our elected officials, we will continue to see such frauds perpetuated on a state and national level.

I, for one, am glad that some of those perpetuating voter fraud, especially in NC, are going to pay the price in prison and with fines. I am just hoping someone doesn’t shout “racist” and demand their release because of the color of their skin. How stupid, one might ask, but dumber things have occurred. Crime is crime, no matter what one’s ethnic origin.

To quote Popeye the Sailor, “I am what I am; I am Popeye the Sailor man!” If I am what/who I say I am, why should I rebel at providing ID in order to vote? Just what are these people really afraid of? What is Gov. Purdue really afraid of?

    • Vagabond

well SF I will vote for anyone but Perdue next election,

  • Bogusbob

This racist had better quit beating up on conservatives. If it were not for Repub.(conservatives)there wouldn’t be a NAACP. Calvin Coolidge was against it. Also, there wouldn’t be a civil rights amendment either. The senate in 1965 was controlled by dems. It needed a lot of repubs to pass the civil rights amendment. Pimps like this clown seem to overlook that glaring fact alot.

    • JimRed

“The senate in 1965 was controlled by dems. It needed a lot of repubs to pass the civil rights amendment.”

And it took a lot of whites to elect Soro’s puppet to the White House. Sorry, but that race card expired on 1/20/09 and is non-renewable!

  • http://personalliberty.com RandyH

Well dang it, it’s hard to get an ID if you got warrants out for you or you don’t know who your daddy is. You obviously don’t need an ID to get an EBT card, a gov’t cell phone, free school lunch for your kids, section 8 housing, free medical, (soon to be free internet)etc., etc., etc. Otherwise, why would it be such a burden to prove you are elible to vote unless you intend to cheat. I am proud to show my ID at the poll. I wish there was an ID card to show I work, I pay taxes, I never had a free lunch, my kid never had a free lunch, and my grandkids don’t get a free lunch, I provide my own cell phone, I pay my own utility bills, I buy my own food and clothes, I pay for my own house and the maintenance of same, I pay my own medical bills. THEN, I heard a black “preacher” on the radio yesterday crying about Ga’s pending redistricting, “It’s immoral and a travisty to try to keep “us” from getting EQUAL representation!” If “us” truly wants to be EQUAL, then follow my examples and quit whining and trying to cheat the polls! This applies to the blasted illegals too, but most of them can’t read english so maybe somebody will interpret for them.

    • Joyce from Loris

Agree! Share my work ethics, not my wealth! Redistribute that!

      • Jyrine

Ohhh yea Joyce from Loris. GOOD ONE!

      • hicusdicus

Joyce, I don’t want to share your work ethics, just your taxes in the form of Obama care.

    • hicusdicus

I have a state issued ID card that gives me the right to have a Judge in my pocket. This ID card gives me the right to stop any one from violating my right to live and breath. Every American should have one of these ID cards and our society would become polite and civil.

    • eddie47d

Then accept the concept of a National ID card if you are so intimidated by this problem. That would also be your voter card. On the issue of redistricting every side complains about that whether Republican or Democrat. To only bring up a “black preacher” as complaining shows your true nature on the issue.

      • hicusdicus

Eddie47, Congratulations I see you are an uninformed moron on every subject on every forum you get involved in. How many years did you have to go to summer school to achieve this ability.

        • mark

I notice all you do is launch ad hominem attacks on eddie and never take on the substance of his argument. Insulting people is not a legitimate counter-argument

          • http://gunner689 gunner689

a valid driver’s liscense and a Social Security card would be acceptable. If not that at least a copy of a birth certificate would surfice; woops !!! that would make BO an ineligible voter.

      • Connie from SoCal

Eddie, have you noticed the story is about a black NAACP leader?

      • JeffH

The concept of a “National ID” is unacceptable and unwarranted. The states issued ID’s are sufficient and the Federal Government has no valid reason to support a National ID.

From the ACLU in a letter to Bush in Feb. 2002…
1- A national ID would not prevent terrorism.
2- A national ID would depend on a massive bureaucracy that would limit our basic freedoms.
3- A national ID would be expensive and direct resources away from other more effective counter-terrorism measures. The costs of a national ID system have been estimated at as much as $9 billion.
4- A national ID would both contribute to identity fraud and make it more difficult to remedy. Americans have consistently rejected the idea of a national ID and limited the uses of data collected by the government.
5- A national ID could require all Americans to carry an internal passport at all times, compromising our privacy, limiting our freedom, and exposing us to unfair discrimination based on national origin or religion. Once government databases are integrated through a uniform ID, access to and uses of sensitive personal information would inevitably expand. Law enforcement, tax collectors, and other government agencies would want use of the data.

        • eddie47d

Since all Americans over the age of 18 can vote but don’t necessarily drive then what are the alternatives? Driver’s License’s can be forged so they are not fool proof . If a National ID can be forged or abused by the wrong person then it wouldn’t be a good idea either.Maybe someone will produce a double or triple hologram on some form of ID that would work.

          • JeffH

Rest of the world to Easy-E…you are obsessed with the ‘Driver’s License” only ID…as said before, every state offers ID’s and every ID issued by a state is not necessarily a driver’s license.

            2 + 2 = 4 Can you grasp that idea?(my “snippy” comment)

  • Joyce from Loris

I live in SC, and we have had to put up with a lot of crap from “Dr. Jealous” over many issues. The voter ID issue has many of us screaming at the top of our lungs. The NAACP claims that 180,000 “minorities” in SC will not be able to vote, due to the requirements of voter ID, yet the state of SC is GIVING FREE ID CARDS to them! FREE!! So, where is the racism in this? There is NONE. The NAACP has turned into nothing more than the black KKK. They promote the black race over all other races, demand that the black race be given top considerations on every issue. Listen to the Black Panther tape on youtube about killing white people and their babies. Yes, the BLACK KKK.

  • CHUCK T

Voter id cards in every state, but watch out for the Black Panthers,Acorn,LaRaza and all the other programs that Obama supports.I expect in the next election, there will be ballots printed in english and spanish so that we don’t offend the illegals.I have no problem with showing my ID.Impeach the illegal in the white house now.

  • CJM

The only reason racism still exists is because of hate groups like the NAACP, SLPC, ACLU, black panthers, and people like ben jealous, al sharpton, jesse jackson…..what a bunch of yellow-belly, cowardly blackmailers they are. They can call you the n word, yet if you return the favor, they scream racism and into the court you go because they were somehow offended. Well, they offend me to the max and I am sick and tired of listening to their tripe. If anyone suffers prejudice in the USA, it is the Caucasion race–especially if your skin is white. White seniors cannot obtain food stamps or medicaid because they are told by the workers that these benefits are for blacks only—says who? Yet these unfeeling paracites are not prosecuted. Racism? Yes it does exist because too many blacks are promoting it.

    • hicusdicus

Racism is good it gives the morons some focus in their lives.

      • mark

There is nothing good about racism. It distorts logical thinking and leads to discrimination, warped perceptions of others, and in far too many cases violence and death

        • hicusdicus

Mark, you could make a moron exceptional.

          • eddie47d

I think the author loves to bring up race all the time because he want to add a little color to the conversation. LOL

          • Jay

mark says: There is nothing good about racism. It distorts logical thinking and leads to discrimination, warped perceptions of others, and in far too many cases violence and death

    • mark

Why didn’t you include the biggest purveyors of racism in this country? They are oddly missing from your list: the Ku Klux Klan, the Skinheads, the Aryan Nations, the Posse Comitatus, the American Nazi Party, the White Aryan Resistance, Volksfront, the League of the South, and various white militia groups? You have zero to say about these groups many of whose members are serving time in prison right for proudly murdering minorities for racial reasons. These groups openly call for violence and murder against racial minorities, Jews, and illegal and legal hispanic immigrants. It is strange that you don’t analyze them when talking about racism in the United States?

      • hicusdicus

Mark, I used to race bicycles. Doesn’t that make me a racist. We could discuss bicycles.

        • Jyrine

What kind of bike? Black Sheep Bikes or Black Mountain Bicycles. Sorry, I couldn’t resist, after all I’m a racist you know.

You ought to know about hypocricy Jeff. It’s been your newest motto and You use it well. How about talking about voter fraud instead of your continuous tripe on others.

This will never happen because they only went to two voting precincts in all-black neighborhoods. And they didn’t prevent anyone from voting.

    • mark

I can see you are really getting off on these ludicrous and exaggerated fears. It gives you an opportunity to vent your own hatred. Ben Crystal has once again succeeded in his goal: ginning up the racial hatred and fear among his base of far-right bloggers. It is sad but no surprise.

      • Jay

And you have once again succeeded in making a complete ass of your self! Mr Crystal is not inciting bloggers to racism, you racist, but merely pointing to the fraudulent, and systemic voting practises of the left-wing kooks/crooks. Another words, the issue is not race, but fraud. Only a true racist, such as yourself, would read racism into Mr. Crystal’s article. Way to go, dumazz, you exposed your true self for all to see!

  • hicusdicus

I am so sick and tired of hearing about the Negros and their endless whining that I get the urge to join the KKK. The problem is the difference between the KKK and the Naacp is hardly distinguishable. They are all a bunch of lower life forms with the IQ of a tree stump. Maybe Hitler had the right idea. Just kill off everyone that does not agree with you and the world will be a happy place. Joe Stalin may have had an even better idea. Just kill every body. My idea is to give everybody a gun and watch from a distance it would be more entertaining than American idol and when it is all over I could get myself a good dog or two and have some intelligent company.

    • Joyce from Loris

Actually, there is a huge difference between the NAACP and the KKK. The NAACP has literally millions of members. There are only 5000 registered members of the KKK in the whole USA.

      • hicusdicus

Joyce. It must be early morning and your brain has not shifted into gear yet.

        • Joyce from Loris

Look it up, my friend. It’s on the internet, anyone can find it. The KKK is nothing more than a boogy man now. There were so many laws that were passed to eliminate that group, such as “individuals who were accosted by the KKK were allowed to sue them PERSONALLY, take their belongings, etc.” that it scared the members away. The KKK is a vile organization, just like the NAACP. If the white people were to organize a NAAWP, there would be outrage across the land! You know that, no matter what time of day it is. You need to face reality. The white people are the only ones that can be legally discriminated against in this country today. If a black person walks up to me and calls me every vile name in the book, I can do nothing about it. Yet, if I call a black person, a mexican or a muslim a vile name, I can be charged with a HATE CRIME, and go to jail. Where is the equality in that?

          • hicusdicus

Gosh Joyce, I am sure glad you explained all this to me. After spending 9 years of my life being a rent collector in the black ghettos of Houston Texas I did not know how uniformed I was.

      • Jyrine

Oh yes Joyce from Loris. Your brain is in high gear and functioning just fine.

        • hicusdicus

Jyrine, to you her brain is functioning just fine. To me she missed the point. They all just a bunch of clap trap tree stumps.

    • mark

No there is a huge difference between the NAACP and the KKK. The NAACP has never killed anyone or called for the killing of anyone, while the KKK over the past century has killed thousands of African-Americans and scores of Jews and Catholics, their other mortal enemies. They have also joyously called for the murders of blacks and Jews and sadly enough some unbalanced, racist individuals have heeded their calls.

      • Joyce from Loris

That was 50 years ago and the reason why there is literally NO KKK anymore. And yes, the NAACP has called for the murder of white people and their babies. Go to you tube, type in black panthers kill white people, and watch that! Yes, I feel better. Watch the videos of the blacks attacking white people at the Wisconsin State fair, read the news about the blacks attacking white people at the Missouri State fair. Once the Main stream media was hiding these stories, would not recognize the racial identity of the attacking groups, with with the help of citizens armed with camera, etc. those attacks are being released to the public! Do you not keep up with the news? It is all dispicable, and one of the reasons our nation is failing today. 20 year ago, there was not any of these tensions between the races. Today, that is all you hear about!!

        • mark

BUT THE NEW BLACK PANTHERS ARE NOT A PART OF THE NAACP AND IN FACT HAVE BEEN DENOUNCED BY THE NAACP! DON’T YOU KNOW THAT?! DON’T YOU KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE HISTORY, STRUCTURE, AND GOALS OR THE NAACP VS. THAT OF THE NEW BLACK PANTHERS WHO ARE A JOKE BY THE WAY WITH ONLY A HANDFUL OF MEMBERS.

        • Jay

Joyce says: 20 year ago, there was not any of these tensions between the races. Today, that is all you hear about!!

You can lay the blame for that squarely at the feet of the left-wing,liberal agitators, or community organizers, as they prefer to call themselves. They are the true racists.

If you haven’t seen the billboards yet, liberals love multiculturalism, they embrace all races and religions because they believe in diversity. True? Nope.

Liberals follow the left’s paradigm of waging class warfare. Their interest in minorities extends only to enlisting some disenfranchised groups in their class warfare. Contrary to all the multicultural billboards, liberals are primarily interested in unsuccessful minorities, because they can frighten them, exploit them and farm them as voting blocks. Successful minorities such as Asians, Indians and Jews are wanted only as window dressing. And get the short end of the stick when a real issue comes up.

Multiculturalism is really only class warfare disguised as opposition to bigotry. Take away all the historical revisionism about the Democratic party’s ugly civil rights history and the empty slogans about diversity, and what you have left is naked political opportunism. The Democratic party trafficked in racism when it suited them (and still does) and dons the halo of tolerance when it suits them now. The left was equally at home working both sides of the street, and the views of great socialists from Jack London to Karl Marx on race, differed little from those of the Nazi party.

Multiculturalism isn’t a philosophy, it’s a political organization tactic to bring the groups they consider part of the working class under one umbrella. It’s the same old class warfare organizational tactics applied to race and ethnicity. The goal of these tactics is not empowerment, but to create a voting bloc of people who have been convinced that they’re doomed to helplessness without the leadership of the left “fighting” on their behalf.

Liberals can still be, and often are, bigots. Their bigotry is just informed by political necessity. As a bonus, having the “diversity” brand allows them to describe the opposition as bigots, without ever being called out for their own bigotry.

    • Connie from SoCal

Nor a requirement, unless the exhaulted leader insists and enforces the underlings show their support for him by casting a vote every few years. Talk about ID then, it would more than a DL to carry at ALL time.

      • 45caliber

        Connie:

I’m expecting the national ID to be a chip placed under the skin.

  • Connie from SoCal

With the NAACP it’s the same old BS ALL of the time. What’s going to happen with their hatred toward WHITES when these old men die? It’s getting closer with Sharpton (big mouth, bad hair, bigot), Jackson (non-everything but black), Farrakhan (the worst of them all) and Obama (the leader for this recent insurgence of screaming racist re: anything stated to the negative of his demands)and of course J. Wright (hate spewing all time major racist). Have each of these trained a predecessor to pick up their racist mantel? Regardless of their claims, the NAACP is a thing of the past and doesn’t carry weight at all, even in the black communities. This group, along with ACLU need to be abolished if we want a more united America.

Don’t give me any of your racist, hate filled rhetoric. If I were one then a good portion of my friends and several neighbors wouldn’t give me the time of day.

I may not have a driver’s license but I do have a state issued ID with the same number as the license I carried (note: CARRIED) for nearly 50 years. This ID is used all the time to prove I am who I am, including when I write a check in stores where the clerks know me by name.

When I lived in CO for a short time, I had to use my DL as proof when I went to the polls to vote. So how come Whites and Conservatives aren’t screaming the same as the blacks/Latinos, via organizations as the NAACP and La Raza over showing ID to vote? Or is it we don’t tend to cheat, lie, or vote fraudulently as much as those represented by these racist screaming/whining organizations?

    • Carol

I couldn’t agree with you more if I tried and you said it so well but if this continues we are going to lose America if they keep holding such things over our head this has to stop TODAY and that is a fact.

    • mark

President Obama is not a screaming racist. He is very thougtful and discerning in his speeches and has repeatedly called for racial tolerance and understanding both in addresses and in his books. You give the impression in your post that Obama constanting gives speeches urging that blacks kill whites when he has never done anything even remotely resembling any of this. He is a product of a biracial marriage. His mother was white. He was raised by whites.

      • TIME

        mark,

Will you get to the back of the bus, shut up, sit down and eat your peas. Now I don’t know about you but thats pure racism as far as I see it.

And that’s just the tip of the Barry berg statments.

        • mark

He didn’t say anything about sitting on the back of the bus and shutting up but you are right, President Obama did say, regarding the recent budget deal with Congress “It’s not going to get easier, it’s going to get harder. So we might as well do it now; pull off the Band-Aid, eat our peas.”

Yes you’re correct, WHAT AN INCREDIBLE RACIST STATEMENT! Far worse than the KKK, Aryan Nation, the Skinheads and the American Nazi Party constanting and openly calling for the red blooded murder of blacks, Jews, and immigrants. Next time someone tells you while taling about a budget deal: “We’re going to have to eat our peas,” immediately leap up, call the police and charge them with a racial death threat! Wow! Lame doesn’t even begin to describe your response. You wouldn’t last 2 seconds on a debating competition. Your remark makes no sense whatsoever! That is the best you can come up with?

          • JeffH

mark, mark, mark…While he(Obama) claims he wants to work together for the good of the country, he has spent the last two weeks demeaning and castigating Republicans at every chance he’s gotten. But today (10-25-10) it reached a new low. He used a racially charged pejorative that no other national leaders would ever be able to get by with as far as the Elite Media is concerned.

He said: “Republicans had driven the economy into a ditch and then stood by and criticized while Democrats pulled it out. Now that progress has been made, he said, “we can’t have special interests sitting shotgun. We gotta have middle class families up in front. We don’t mind the Republicans joining us. They can come for the ride, but they gotta sit in back.”

          • Jay

What does you being black or white have to do with this are you in this country legally or not that is what this has to do with and if you are not DON’T VOTE that is what this has to do with.

Sounds like Mr Jealous is in Barry Soetoro (Obama’s) back pocket and he is paying him well to do these things and he has to be stopped and stopped TODAY because he is dangerous for all of us.

  • dhellew2

What part of verifying that you are eligible to vote constitutes racism? Must be the part where illegal aliens are rounded up and paid to vote by the likes of Harry Reid.

  • 2WarAbnVet

It is amusing that when the Green Bay Packers visited the White House on Friday to celebrate the team’s Super Bowl title, black linebacker Desmond Bishop wasn’t allowed to enter. He had forgotten his license on the team charter plane and without an ID, he couldn’t enter the White House. This sounds like discrimination to me.

    • hicusdicus

I wish Obama would lose his ID card and not be allowed back in the White house. I sure love to fantasize.

It is horrible to suggest voter ID! After all, how can you vote a dozen different times under different names if you only have an ID form that shows you are one person? That obviously isn’t fair to some of our minorities who need to vote multiple times to make things equal with the majority who disagree with their stupid ideas!

People like Eddie don’t have a problem with voter fraud because it is done by the left wing and favors his candidates. The rest of us do adamantly object because it nullifies our vote. As a tax paying veteran I hold my vote sacred. Anyone who willfully violates voting regulations and requirements should face a min. 10 yrs. in prison. As to voter ID, we have to have an appropriate ID to do about anything in our society from driving a car to purchasing a pack of cigareets. Why should one of our most sacred obligations as a citizen be any diffrent. The people who oppose voter ID are actually saying they support voter fraud.

  • Dale on the left coast

In most Democratic countries around the world . . . they have Voter’s Lists, and ALL Voters Identify themselves at the poles.
The concept of just appearing and voting . . . as often as you like . . . is moronic . . . and something only a Progressive/lieveral could envision. But of course these folks think the same way about borders. Any sane person can see these practices will lead to the extinction of said country!!!

    • mark

Yes but all these same countries have National ID Cards which conservatives and libertarians have ferociously resisted because they claim they are a way to track to citizens’ gun ownership and political activities by Big Brother/Big Government. A national ID card would make it easier for said government to round up people for internment camps and facilitate the inevitable UN take-over of our country. To me this is absolute nonsense but many on the Far Right have long opposed a National ID Card for these reasons.

      • hicusdicus

Mark it is hard to round up people for internment camps that are armed and determined. I am closer to 80 than 70 and I will take some of them with me to hell.

    • mark

People in this country can’t just show up and vote over and over again without ever being questioned. Once you have voted, you can’t vote again in virtually every polling precinct in America. This is just an urban legend that people vote scores of times in the same election. No documentation for such practices has ever been presented in a voter fraud case or in any U.S. court of law.

      • eddie47d

Thank you Mark for explaining that to them. Once your name is checked off in the voter book you can’t go in and vote again. So where do they get the idea we support voter fraud.

      • Jay

Two left-wing crooks trying to convince us they’re not lying. Dumb and dumber have now joined brains, and they’re still half a brain short!

It happens in the county I live in. Every election. I know someone who tried to do something about it and lost their job.

      • http://gunner689 gunner689

the answer to that question is that they vote at various polling place, often under ficticious names. There have been numerous cases of voter fraud, often in an organized manner. One only needs to examine ACORN’S track record to verify that. College students often vote both at school and then go home and vote again.

When I go to the polling station ( which by the way is every chance I get ), I am always asked , quite politely, for identification,,this is because I speak with a very strong Yorkshire accent. The staff can only assume I’m a Brit, trying to cast a vote. For this reason, I don’t only take my driver’s licence, but also my passport and my citizenship papers, ( I became a Citizen in 1974) I am no way offended by the procedure, but it rankles a bit to see the Polling Station directions printed in Spanish as well as English. I have never been able to fathom that one out, as to become a citizen, one has to speak English and of course to vote, one has to be a citizen.

  • chuckb

one reason we have so many illegals voting is the motor voter registration bill that bill clinton initiated. this is one of the reasons our politics have turned to bolshevism, most of these illegals come from highly socialistic societies, they see a gravy train under the bolshevik rule and vote that way.
we should have a voter photo id card, not a drivers license and be checked when we vote. this will eliminate a lot of the fraud.
those afraid of losing their freedom should consider, is that as risky as allowing the fraud to destroy our country along with our freedom.

  • JD

Mr Jealous is right , Black people have no IDs because they don’t need them . They are not required if you are black to do things such as put your kids in school ,get a job , drive a car , cash a check , get food stamps or welfare , turn on your electricity or phone . Only white folks are required to have IDs for these things so it is very racist to expect a black person to show an ID to vote .

  • chuckb

jd, they got those rights under democratic administrations fair and square.

  • Jay

Denial isn’t just a river in Egypt. It’s the Democrats’ coping mechanism for midterm election voter fraud. Faced with multiple reports of early voting irregularities and election shenanigans across the country, left-wing groups are playing dumb, deaf and blind. Voter fraud? What voter fraud?

More cunningly, these organizations are seeking to marginalize complaints about election integrity by casting citizen watchdog efforts as racist “scare tactics.” Echoing President Obama’s message to the Democratic faithful on the campaign trail, they are accusing political opponents of suppressing the votes of minorities and the poor. On Tuesday, The New York Times quoted a liberal voting rights advocate, Wendy R. Weiser, wringing her hands over individual Americans taking clean elections seriously:

“Private efforts to police the polls create a real risk of vote suppression, regardless of their intent,” said Weiser, director of the Voting Rights and Elections Project at the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University. “People need to know that any form of discrimination, intimidation or challenge to voters without adequate basis is illegal or improper.”

Weiser also turned up in a very similar story minimizing voter fraud and voter registration fraud that was published Tuesday by government-sponsored National Public Radio. The NPR report asserted that “most election experts” believe that fears of voter fraud are “overblown.” No word on how many “experts” they surveyed (besides Weiser) to report such a conclusion, which flies in the face of dozens of felony voter fraud convictions across the country over the past two election cycles — and that’s just among ACORN-tied cases.

    Overblown?

In North Carolina and Nevada, early voters have encountered ballot machine glitches that favor Democrats in hotly contested races.

In Troy, N.Y., and Daytona Beach, Fla., police investigations into suspected absentee ballot fraud by elected government officials are underway.

In Harris County, Texas, the voter registrar admitted that 20 percent of voter registration forms submitted by liberal activist Houston Votes had problems. Election whistleblowers there are now being investigated by the Obama Justice Department and have been slapped with an ethics complaint by the Texas Democratic Party and a left-wing billionaire George Soros-funded group called Texans for Public Justice.

In Yuma County, Ariz., election officials denied any fraud associated with thousands of requests for “permanent early voter list” status submitted en masse by open-borders group Mi Familia Vota (a social justice satellite group of the Service Employees International Union). But election officials admitted that some 6,000 out of 14,000 requests fielded by the Yuma County Recorder’s Office “were reviewed and rejected, under Arizona law, either due to the fact the request was a duplicate or the requestor was not eligible to vote in this election or within the jurisdiction.”

Liberals shrugged their shoulders at reports of illegal alien canvassers trolling for votes in Washington State. Never mind the radical goals spelled out by SEIU International Secretary-Treasurer and Mi Familia Vota founder Eliseo Medina, who views illegal alien amnesty as a powerful Democratic recruitment tool to capture millions of new progressive voters.

Funny. For the past two years, Democratic leaders have had nothing to say about the militant New Black Panther Party goons who took it upon themselves to police a Philadelphia voting booth in 2008 wielding billy clubs and shouting anti-white slurs to suppress votes. Now, they’re treating citizen election monitors as if they are the jack-booted thugs. When I lauded efforts like the Minnesota Majority, which is training volunteers to watch polls and report on voter fraud, liberal critics accused me this week of “fascism.”

Silence dissent. Criminalize watchdogs. Whitewash fraud. Discourage grassroots engagement. Deny, deny, deny. These are the signature tactics of the left in the age of Obama. On November 2, Americans get their chance to say: Enough.

Was this a bone thrown to the Demorats by the Just-us Dept. ?

Obviously, any attempts to reduce voting fraud would handicap Democrats

Democrats and Republicans are clashing in state capitals across the country as GOP-controlled legislatures push proposals to tighten voting requirements — a move prominent critics have decried as a throwback to Jim Crow laws.

The proposals include measures in nearly three-dozen states to either require voters to show ID before casting their ballots or strengthen existing voter ID laws. Other states have moved to tighten the window for early voting and put new restrictions on whether and when convicted felons can vote.

The proposals are not attracting anywhere near as much attention as state efforts to strengthen immigration laws, cut back on union benefits and balance budgets, but Democrats in recent weeks have launched somewhat of a campaign against them at the national level. They claim Republicans are trying to skew the next election, while limiting the right to vote in the process.

Former President Bill Clinton was the latest to weigh in Wednesday, accusing Republicans of trying to “disenfranchise” minority voters who would “tend to vote for Democrats.”

For a Party that still whines about the 2000 election being stolen, and agitated for stronger voting laws post 2000 and 2004, you’d think they would be on-board with this. Alas, it is hard to get the dead and pets to show proper ID at the voting booth. And tightening rules on early voting, as well as mail in ballots, would further handicap the cheating schemes Democrats come up with (BTW, for the second straight presidential election year, I received in the mail a registration for someone who doesn’t live at my address. The person actually lives in another NC city a few hours away, and is registered….Democrat!)

Of course, this is all about “raaaaacism”. Seriously, Dems, you need to come up with a new talking point. This one is as old as talking about carrying an onion on your belt.

I have to show picture ID to board a plane.

I have to show picture ID to buy alcohol.

I have to show picture ID to start a bank account or cash a check in a bank.

I have to produce picture ID if asked by a cop for any reason.

I have to show picture ID to make a credit purchase.

I don’t have to show picture ID to vote.

    1. They’re examples of how everyday life in this country requires picture ID. Those examples support the principle that everyone who engages in normal adult activities of daily living needs to have picture ID.

Voting being a protected right doesn’t mean that it isn’t proper for society to demand that you establish your identity before you exercise that protected right, does it? Or are you saying that society has no vested interest in protecting itself from fraudulent voting? In very practical terms, in order to fully protect that voting right, it only makes sense that you be required to establish your identity beyond a reasonable doubt. Otherwise, your protected right can be usurped by someone saying they’re you.

    2. Just try and use a birth cert as ID in most retail stores. Go ahead, I’ll wait. Or try to use one as ID to buy alcohol. Again, I’ll wait. Try to cross an international border with just a birth cert.

If you ever lost your wallet with your Social Security card and I picked it up, if I could figure out the state in which you were born, I could get a certified copy of your birth cert sent via overnight mail for less than $100 from most states.

For far less than that, I can pick up a blank birth cert form with seal on the grey/black market and just fill it in any way I want. Back in San Diego, you could wander through Balboa Park and find people selling all manner of ID’s and blank forms to illegals. SSN’s of newborn infants usually went for $50-$75. Trust me, if you looked too Anglo, you’d never know about it – but if you were with a Latino looking person, especially one in dirty old clothes, they’d approach you like flies on crap.

In a world in which identity theft is a serious and growing problem, using picture ID is minimal requirement to wstablish ID. And even it’s not foolproof.

I can understand increased scrutiny of identification for voting and banking, but we need to be very careful to keep it in check regarding other areas of life and society. After all, do any of us here want to be subjected to “Your papers, please” when we are just out in general public, not voting or banking?????

      • newspooner

And further, a “national ID card” would be the straw that breaks the camel’s back. Remember that Hilary Clinton and other communists would love to have that for us.

        • hicusdicus

WE already have a national ID. Its called a social security number.

          • paintbrushbright

That didn’t work—the numbers they used were from dead people in the last election.

        • paintbrushbright

You have to be kidding! A drivers license is a national ID. This is the computer age! Have you forgotten-they punch in the number and zap there you are from any where in the nation.

    • hicusdicus

Jay I totally agree with you, now isn’t that scary. My favorite ID is my concealed carry permit. When I show it to a cop or a person of authority it tells them I am not a criminal and they need not fear me. It also tells them that I do not fear them. It makes for a polite exchange.

      • Jay

Hmm…balance of power, now there’s an interesting concept!

        • hicusdicus

By the way Jay, Do you have any idea what it entails to procure a concealed carry permit? FBI, State police ,County sheriff, Back ground checks out the gazzo and money, of course money. Then you have to go to firearms training school. Then you better not screw around with your privilege and you better know the law. Legally killing some one is expensive and time consuming. After the killing and the hassle and lawyers are over I guaranty you won’t feel any empathy for the deceased.

  • David

Obama predicts 30 million dead voters will vote for him in 2012. Also Obama has ordered another 30 million illegals from Mexico to come an vote but he is having trouble since there aren’t any jobs to offer them.

  • David

Obama 2012. Whats a job? I never had one!

  • David

Does Obama even know how many illegals went back to Mexico to get a job? His illegal voter base has shrunk.

  • Higgs

I have yet to hear a good, solid, factual, arguement explaining what is “racist” about Voter ID. When the subject of Voter ID is discussed, it includes all of us doesn’t it? One could conclude that there is voter fraud, they know there is voter fraud, and they don’t want it “cleaned-up.”

  • hicusdicus

If a country has voter fraud it can’t have a democracy.

  • paintbrushbright

I can not even comprehend how someone could walk in and cast a ballot without having identification. We do not live in heaven where your name is in St. Peter’s registry. I only trust people that can identify who they are and not who they want to be. There is only one excuse for people without identification voting and that is stupidity. Stupid people have the right to vote but if they are to stupid to get a identification card they wouldn’t know who to vote for anyway unless someone from ACORN was whispering in their ear.

  • paintbrushbright

All States should issue drivers license card and non license cards for voting identification. Those cards are all tied in on nation wide computer ID verification

  • jhhodges

Hello. I don’t consider my self a Demo, but I always wind up voting demo because I vote against the republican and now the tea bag balderdash. However, in the case of voter ID, I feel EVERY voter should be able to show a valid ID that proves he or she is a citizen of this country, and has the right to vote. There is no reason why someone that has the right to vote, and wants to vote can’t get the proper identification. It’s pretty simple…If you want to vote, have the proper identification or shut up and go home.

  • jopa

The real voter fraud is when your candidate wins and goes to Washington.Within two weeks little envelopes of cash start coming his way for his re-election campaign and he forgets all about you.The money talks and your the walker when Mr. Lobby-man comes to town.Just a little dose of reality.
