It’s Time To Get Heart Healthy

November 11, 2010 by

It’s Time To Get Heart Healthy

According to the American Heart Association, someone in America has a heart attack every 29 seconds — and someone dies from heart failure every single minute. And the odds get even worse as you get older.

Half of the men and 63  percent of the women who have died of a heart attack had no warning prior to their fatal event. While orthodox medical experts estimate that up to 30  percent of fatal attacks (and many follow-up surgeries) could be avoided with healthy lifestyle changes, I am now convinced that nearly all heart attacks can be prevented by implementing the healthy lifestyle principles of true health. Sadly, two-thirds of patients who have already suffered a heart attack don’t make the necessary lifestyle shift to prevent another one.

The first step to preventing a heart attack is understanding what triggers one. Heart attacks are caused by a blockage of the arteries that provide blood and oxygen to your heart muscle. This narrowing of these arteries, or atherosclerosis, is caused by deposits of calcified fatty materials that develop over many years.

Certain physical characteristics and lifestyle activities make these heart blockages more likely.

Understand Your Risk Factors
Unfortunately, there are a few factors you can’t do much about. These include a family history of coronary heart disease, aging and female menopause. But don’t worry — many of these risk factors can be dramatically improved or even eliminated.

Here are some risk factors you CAN do something about:

  • Tobacco smoking, which doubles your risk of a heart attack.
  • Obesity. It’s disastrous for your health, and puts an added burden on your heart.
  • High blood pressure. This can be caused by smoking, obesity, stress, inflammatory foods or a sedentary lifestyle.
  • Diabetes is chronic high blood sugar, which damages small blood vessels and the coronary arteries.
  • Cholesterol. You should be worried if your total cholesterol is above 200, your “bad” cholesterol is above 100 or your “good” cholesterol is below 45.
  • Inflammation. More important than your cholesterol levels because inflammation causes dangerous plaque to stick to your arteries.
  • Lack of physical activity or exercise. Exercise helps you prevent heart disease and heart attack.
  • Stress, anger and depression. Hostility is the “Achilles’ heel” of the heart, which is also negatively affected by stress and frustration.
  • High homocysteine levels create “sticky” blood and cause free radical damage inside your arteries.

The more you improve these conditions, the more you protect yourself from a heart attack. And there’s another way to assess your risk category for a heart disaster.

Get Your Blood Work Done
There are certain heart markers in your blood that can tell you if your arteries are already hardening. If your doctor finds the following in your blood results, you should take serious preventive action now:

  • High fibrinogen, which means your blood could be clotting too much.
  • High C-reactive protein, which means acute inflammation is occurring somewhere in your body, perhaps inside your blood vessels.
  • High glucose, which can cause a heart attack indirectly by the weakening of blood vessels, a well-known phenomenon of long-standing diabetes.
  • High insulin, which occurs with Type 2 diabetes.
  • High iron, which indicates problems with your liver.
  • High triglycerides, which are tied to high insulin levels and high sugar intake over time. It’s also one of the markers of early metabolic syndrome (see below).
  • Low testosterone, which is a marker of losing youth hormones through aging.
  • Metabolic syndrome. It’s estimated one in four people over 30 already have this syndrome, which is characterized primarily by high insulin levels.

Many internal factors can affect your heart negatively. But that’s not all you need to consider. .

Avoid Toxins and Pollutants
You’re constantly exposed to toxic substances… They all put stress on your heart, but just knowing about them can help reduce your risk.

Here are some “outside influences” you should definitely be aware of:

  • Radiation exposure can make “bad” cholesterol stick to your vessel walls.
  • Chronic heavy metal exposure. The metals mercury and antimony are found in fresh water and farm-raised fish.
  • Electromagnetic Frequencies (EMFs). Cell phones, televisions, microwave ovens and even hair dryers emit low intensity EMFs, which could damage human cells.
  • Pesticides and insecticides. Household, garden and farm insecticides can be highly toxic to both animals and humans.
  • Hormones and antibiotics. These are routinely used to maximize livestock growth and increase profitability.
  • Prescription medications. The statin drugs used to lower heart attack risk and lower cholesterol or high blood pressure medications can weaken your heart.

And as if this weren’t bad enough, Americans insist on eating foods that destroy our overall health, including our heart muscle. It makes the chance of a heart attack even greater!

The Real Secret is Prevention
But as you probably know already, mainstream medicine can make it difficult to focus on prevention. Traditional doctors are often more interested in just treating the symptoms, which can make your health even worse. The well-known article found online called Death by Medicine, by Gary Null, Ph.D.; Carolyn Dean M.D., N.D.; Martin Feldman, M.D.; Debora Rasio, M.D.; and Dorothy Smith, Ph.D. describes just how “out of whack” the medical establishment has become:

“U.S. health care spending reached $1.6 trillion in 2003, representing 14% of the nation’s gross national product. Considering this enormous expenditure, we should have the best medicine in the world. We should be preventing and reversing disease, and doing minimal harm. Careful and objective review, however, this shows we are doing the opposite.”

The bottom line is you can’t count on mainstream medicine to take care of you. You should always increase your own knowledge of prevention — and take responsibility for your own health. And here at Easy Health Options™, we’re committed to helping you every single step of the way!

You can take matters into your own hands to protect your health and ward off a heart attack. Because when it comes to heart health, prevention is the key.

In my newly released book, Nature’s Simple Solutions for Avoiding Heart Disease and How NOT to Become a Statistic, I’ll show you a safe and natural way to prevent (even reverse) this savage killer that doesn’t involve expensive and often ineffective traditional therapies.  I’ll also expose the misconceptions, half truths and outright lies perpetrated by Big Pharma, the medical big wigs and other health charlatans.

Plus, you’ll get hundreds of facts, discoveries and remedies for avoiding and even reversing heart disease without dangerous drugs and deadly surgeries.

Did any one out there see on discovery about 20 yrs ago that they came out with a shot that cleared out your veins in seconds? This has been used to show that during a heart attack that the person got up off the table and showed no signs of it ever happening. They refused to give the shots out because they said that if they made it available for every one then they would just eat and drink and smoke what ever they wanted and that they would not change their way of life style. So they made the shot so expensive that you couldnt afford it.I havent heard much on it since then so I dont know what happened to it dose anyone else know?

    • KG

No shot, but there is a swiss formula of herbs that can be gotten for probably 50.00 – look for it in health foods stores or on line :-)

  • Think Again

Old rich conservative tax-cheats afraid to die.

    • FreedomFighter

Usually somebody that does not fear death, dies early and usually horribly, Fear of death keeps you alive.

Not letting the bloated out of control goverment steal hard earned gains from working Americans – usually conservatives, to give to non-working parasites feeding on Obama’s entitlement tit is just self preservation. The real cheating is Progressive/Liberal commies trying to steal your money for entitlements to buy votes for demonrats.

Remember foolish one, Think Again, you have to be working and producing to pay taxes the parasites do not do either.

funny the conservatives you say are afraid to die happen to die all too frequently in the military so close minded liberals like you have the freedom to spew your garbage.

        1minuteman,

        Heh heh….you nailed it!

        OoooRAH!

      think again??
There you go waisting your time trying to think again. You have to have the tools to do the job, son!!!

      • Fed Up Gal in NM

        Joe H,

Lol….funny! Some people just seem to hurt themselves when they “think again” and think to hard without those tools.

  • humorous

Not that heart attacks are funny or anything, but I really feel bad for the dude who has a heart attack every 29 seconds…

    That’s gotta suck.

Anyone else read it that way??

    • Mike In MI

Hey, humor us – As my poor beknighted wife would say, “Oh,…ha…ha. Don’t anybody laugh, snort or groan. It only encourages it.”
Personally, I think when one can find humor in something like that…so twisted…then he has a tremendous shield up against the poison of the left. Why, because the deceit they engage in always has to be couched in ridiculously funny misuses of language. They’re just a constant yukity-yuk and suckity suck. And, they can’t stand sarcastic laughter poked at them…no humility whatsoever.

      • Mike In MI

Oh, and don’t misread me to be saying Dr. Cutler said anything amiss or leftist. He didn’t and I applaud him and his brand of thinking. And his integrative ways.
We need a whole new medical system along this line. There’ll be a lot less premature dieing from doctor screw-ups and the incredible list of problems that come with drugs and whacking up body parts.

Dr. Cutler, I salute you and Dr. Wiley and others Bob has on this site. May your tribe increase.

        • Fed Up Gal in NM

          Hi Mike in MI,

How are you doing? I haven’t had much time to be on here lately…a lot going on, but thought I’d just jump in here for a moment and say hello…

Also…I recently had a health assessment at work which showed overall cholesterol over 200 and triglycerides very high. Hmmmm…I was surprised (first time numbers were so high), since the past couple of years…I cut my sugar intake probably by at least half and I don’t use any oil other than olive oil… So for the past week or so…I’ve really cut out just about all sugar…not even gingerale which I love and would have about 1-2 daily previously…none now, and no non-dairy cream in my coffee, and only a small amount of agave nectar honey in my tea…cut back on meal sizes as well…and have knocked off about 5 lbs…I’m sure much of that is water weight or the initial drop…I’m sure it will slow down and become more difficult as I go through the next month or two…and then for life. But…no guts…no glory…so here I go :-).

I wonder if there’s a supplement to take that is specifically to improve triglyceride levels?

Dr. Cutler was right on a lot of what he said but our “mainstream doctors and medical staff” must be different from his norm that he is referring to, because they are into prevention big time. Were it not for the excellence of their care and instruction on how I should live my life I would not be here to aggravate the lefties today! I have been living with heart disease for a few years now all genetic and because I have watched my diet and exercised and was smart enough to never start smoking or drinking alcohol I survived my ordeal.I didn’t have a heart attack I got to the hospital in time and despite my best efforts still had to have by-pass surgery but am doing very well now. My husband will probably never need to worry as he has been doing the same as me all these years and his genes aren’t as bad as mine. Stress is the killer, that’s what you have to avoid if at all possible. That’s why I don’t visit this site so much any more, the liberal lefties make me too angry and quite frankly they aren’t worth it!

I don’t beleive in bypass surgery. Me father was alone after his heart attack and two doctors came in and told him unless he had the surgery he would die in one year and that if he had the bypass he would be like a 20 yr old man.

My father fell for it, took the surgery, suffered a sore chest for weeks, got more and more tired everyday and finally collasped and died a year later.

I saw the bill they charged the insurance company. It was $75,000 dollars!!!
I now realized he didn’t need the surgery and there was better alternatives is my belief now.

They TERRORIZED him into taking the surgery. My only wish is these two surgeons suffer the same fate.

      • http://?? Joe H.

        Bimbam,
My father in law had it over twenty years ago and he split wood, cut trees down, umpired softball, did all kinds of things!! Gave him a new lease on life!!

    • Christin

      Barb,
I’m glad you are doing well… keep up the healthy lifestyle!

I hear you about the Lefty’s crude attacks and I have been the brunt of some of their demonization… very stressful to read their miserable irrational childish rants. I usually skip their posts or refrain from commenting. You are right it is a waste of time and an unnecessary stress to avoid.

      Best to you.

This is the day the Lord has made,
I will rejoice and be glad in it!

Mr. Cutler, thank you for the post. You have certainly given us a LOT of activites and ideas we can do to keep ouselves on the healthy side. And I believe you are right that the field of medicine and Doctoring which for years kept telling us we needed to persue Preventive Medicine, but infact did not, and perhaps would not go there… maybe because Medical schools did not change or because progressives and big Pharma have been controling the Agencies and agenda.

Very informative… will send it on to family and friends.

It was one thing to tell people to take care of themselves when 80% of the people were living on farms . It is a complete differant story now after they moved to the cities for good jobs , that have now moved over seas for 1/4 of the wages . Something that might suprise you , I have noticed the poor and the rich are about equal in honesty . another thing that irritates me is only about 50 % of the people pay income tax . That does not mean they are not working and producing . It may mean they are not over charging for their work . Many of them are working very hard for services very much needed .

  • http://ordy@fedtel./net Eric g

Back in the time when it was costomary to expect evreyone to take care of themselves we had what they called the poor farm which was owned by the county . My father told me his uncle paid income tax , He was a very wealthy man owned abouit 15 banks and many farms . Only about 1 % of the people gualified to pay income tax . It was considered quit a honor to pay income tax . I still consider it a accomplishment of success

  • http://com i41

The poor farm set was a great plan. That is what should be done to day, take all the crap parks and propertyy that is costing taxpayer billion to care for. A wnderful use for all the CRP farm groung that we are paying billion the is growing nothing and land owners collection thousands of dollaRS EVERY YEAR. These welfare rabbit warnes of public housing, could be done away with. These brood mares could grow garden and care for livetock, for food! Land is far enough out, the worthless gang bangering dirtballs from big cities could be breaking rocks out in the middle of BLM land for road projects, less worthless breeding and work them 14 hours a day, there would be less fighting and trashing property. These multi generation crap of collecting no work money has to stop. If these welfare rats want an education, set up dish net works and teach several thousand “students” with one “professor”. Don’t need all the masssive expensive building and government paid screw offs. Give the education system the KISS treatment. KEEP IT SIMPLE STUPID!!

  • http://com i41

Also there wouldn’t need the food police, because a lot of free physical exercise, no couch pop drink junk food eating time. Same goes for the fat dough boy toads of school kids, givethe summer programs over to city parks care, plenty od manual lawn moeing and trimming tree and plants, there will be in shape slimmed down toads. Definitely put all kids on welfare the free summer program.

  • RiverRat2U

I live in an area filled up to the brim with type 2 Diabetes. The standard procedure in an interview is,”Doc I need a PILL to make me drop 30 pounds in a month !” You gain 30 pounds in a month? “No” Then you won’t loose 30 pounds in a month.
The over weight or obese patient will not exercise or cut calories. They think if they take a PILL all is well and they can continue their life style. It is a medical fact that one must excersize and curtail calories to loose weight and in so doing one cuts down on type 2 and high blood pressure. Think of carrying a back pack of 40 pounds of weight on your back all day. That is close to carrying 40 lbs of fat around as well. Take off the 40 lbs and you feel better.

    • Mike In MI

RR2U – I learned something easy to figure at a 7th Day Adventist cooking class recently. One of the speakers on making smart choises said, “If the fat you intend to eat is still hard at a warm room temperature how can you expect it to be any different in your blood vessels?” That free class had a whole bunch of great ideas distilled down to simple practical ideas, “how-to’s” and ‘do-this’s”.
Made me think of the Bible – simple, practical, proven instructions of what to do along with some of the benefits to be gained.
Besides that, they didn’t curse me and threaten to saw my head off if I didn’t join their church, either.

  • John

But isn’t carrying around 40 pounds of fat equivalent to exercise of carrying 40 pounds on your back?

  • Anne

My first time here. I got extremely tired, frustrated of garbage news. I don’t even watch TV news any longer. Except for Fox News. Note: I use to be a democratic, and then I grew up and gained wisdom. About time!!

I came by today to say thank you for a great short article “Its Time To Get Heart Healthy” that gave me more than I expected. Short, to the point, and I will most likely pass it on. Thank you.
