It’s Okay What You Do. Just Keep Me Safe

February 22, 2010 by

It’s Okay What You Do. Just Keep Me Safe

Scan me, strip me, pat me down, abuse my kids: it’s all okay, just keep me safe. That’s the mindset of today’s airline passenger. So that’s precisely what agents from the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) do.

And the more compliant passengers become the more abusive government becomes.

In the wake of the 9/11 attacks the traveling public gladly handed over their 4th Amendment (that’s the one that is supposed to keep people “secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures”) rights to a government promising to keep them “safe.”

Hoping to remain safe we allowed airline security personnel to search through our luggage and carry-on bags as if we’re criminals and, if we “looked suspicious,” pat us down as well. Then the TSA was formed and in a matter of months thousands of new people were hired as screeners, and things got worse.

Now, according to press reports, this is what we get:

  • Sippy cups taken from toddlers—A former Secret Service agent who left the service to raise her child was stopped by TSA because there was water in her 19-month-old son’s sippy cup. She asked if she could have it back if she drank or poured out the water but the “friendly” TSA agent refused. She asked for a supervisor. The supervisor told her she had to leave security, empty the cup and be re-screened. While being escorted out by TSA and a police officer she unscrewed the cap to drink the water and some spilled.  She was then made to get down on her hands and knees to clean up the spill while her son cried for his cup. Then she was ordered to apologize for the spill and was threatened with arrest. In all, three TSA agents and four police officers were brought in to detain and harass a mom trying to have on hand what she needed to keep her son happy on a flight. Of course, she missed her flight. (The Philadelphia Enquirer)
  • Moms forced to drink breast milk—A mother with an infant brought bottles of breast milk in her carryon bag so she wouldn’t have to nurse her child on the plane. TSA agents made her drink it to prove it wasn’t harmful.
  • Kids’ Play-doh confiscated—TSA agents found tubs of Play-doh in a parent’s bag and confiscated it in front a 3-year-old, saying it looked like plastic explosives. The parent brought it to occupy the child on the flight. Sorry kid, you could be a terrorist.
  • White-haired grandmothers strip searched—Suspicious-looking white-haired grandmothers are often taken out of the screening line and taken to another room for extra screening. It makes perfect sense. They fit the profile after all.
  • Diminutive business woman charged with assaulting TSA agents—A small 57-year-old business woman was for some reason singled out for extra screening and TSA agents began emptying her carry-on bags. She objected and asked for a private screening. TSA took her to a private room and examined everything in her bags, including sniffing lipstick and pulling out credit cards. TSA agents claim the woman demanded the bags be carefully repacked. Upon leaving the room, according to TSA, the woman hit TSA agents with her bag and threw sandals. She was arrested, spent 17 hours in jail and charged with 10 felonies. A judge threw out all the charges and expunged her record because TSA didn’t save the video tape of the alleged incident. (The Philadelphia Enquirer)
  • TSA agents as jokesters—A TSA agent confronted a young woman who had just come through the metal detector. Holding up a bag of white powder he asked her, “What’s this?” The woman said she was dumbfounded and became very frightened because nothing like that should have been in her bag. After harassing her about it for a moment the TSA agent smiled and said, “Just joking.”
  • Four-year-old forced to remove leg braces and walk himself through screening—A Camden, N.J., police officer, his wife and their 4-year-old son were traveling to Orlando for the child’s birthday. The child, who was born 16 weeks premature, is developmentally delayed and has malformed ankles, was forced to remove his leg braces and walk through the metal detector on his own—something that he was just learning to do. He managed to make it through. The father, understandably upset, confronted a supervisor who turned and walked away. A local police officer approached and told the father he should calm down and enjoy his vacation. When a reporter asked a TSA spokesperson how such a thing could happen the TSA representative said the boy should never have been made to remove his braces, he should have just been taken to a screening room and had his braces swabbed for explosives instead. (The Philadelphia Enquirer)

Incidents like these leave you scratching you head. But it’s not just foolishness on the part of some undertrained agent—although there is a lot that throughout the TSA—it’s a power play by people given a little authority that they begin to abuse. And it plays into the hands of government seeking more control.

And here’s an example of how they always want more control: On the heels of the Christmas Day underwear bomber incident, TSA said it was installing naked body scanners in all airports: a boon to some well-heeled government players, as we documented here.

Now it’s not enough for them to rifle through your bags, humiliate you or feel you up, they now want to see you and your kids naked—and expose you to harmful radiation to boot. We documented the health risks posed by naked body scanners here.

Of course, TSA promised that there is no way for the images taken by the scanners to be saved or transmitted. As implausible as that was, that was their story. Now we see that TSA was indeed lying when it said the machines could not store or transmit images.

In London, Indian film star Shahrukh Khan told a British television audience that after he went through security at Heathrow Airport female security agents had printouts of his image made by the scanners. He said “you could see everything.” He autographed them and returned them to the women.

As usual, the goal by government is not to keep you safe, as evidenced by the facts that have come out about the Christmas Day underwear bomber. The goal is to continue to peel back your resistance to their tyranny. Scare you, show you a government solution and sell it, all while enriching a few well-connected people. That’s the government way.

But most go along to get along, as long as a semblance of safety is promised.

Scan me, strip me, pat me down, abuse my kids; even take pictures of my kid’s naked body. I feel safer already.

“It’s Okay What You Do. Just Keep Me Safe”
Great article and absolutely true. I have watched this playout weekly as I travel 100% for work. The sad thing is, the least bit of resistance or comments you make to the TSA agents will get you more harassment and possibly arrest on top of missing your flight. If your flying is work related and you need to be somewhere, you are caught between the proverbial “rock and a hard place” and have to shut up just to get through it all. I thought TSA was a bad idea when it was formed and just created more goverment union thugs. The only real change with the formation of TSA is that the old baggage screeners are paid more, have government jobs, became union thugs and have uniforms. Efficiency has also been seriously degraded along with common sense.
So if you have to fly to keep your job, what are the options?
    Jim Munsey
    L.A. (Lower Alabama!!)

    • DaveH

Your options are to not vote for anybody who doesn’t promise to cut back the size of Government. In my book, that only leaves one Political Party – the Libertarian Party:

      • http://N/A Patriot

Dave-I would like to see 2 or 3 viable parties to choose from, but let’s all face REALITY. There are only 2 viable parties in this country and one of them will be in power after the electons. The Conservatives have been so fractionalized by all the other parties that now exist, that the Liberals have taken over the entire Gov. so lets be realistic and sensible. Vote for a Rep or vote for a Dem but vote against ALL incumbents. In three years we could replace everybody in D.C. That would give representatives that are not career polititions and are not beholding to anyone. If you vote Libratarian or Green Peace or any other party you have just helped the Libs get elected. In the future we must all stand together or most assuredly we will all fall separetly, and that means the Libs win again.

        • DaveH

There is nothing sensible about doing the same old thing while crossing your fingers and hoping that this time it will work.

Definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I’ve been hearing that same old bull about splitting votes for the last 40 years. I vote for my principles and if others aren’t smart enough to do so also, it is not my fault.

          • DaveH

Republicans have been complicit in this Big Government Growth. Without their help, the Democrats could have never gotten us this close to Total Government Control.

          • http://N/A Patriot

I have no arguement about Rep being complicit in all the problems. It seems however that you missed my main point. I have voted for third parties in many elections but have now come to realizee there are only 2 Viable parties. I doubt that this will change in my lifetime though I would love to see it. Right now the country is in such bad shape I think we should just throw them all out every time they stand for re-election. The fastest way to fix things is to get rid of ALL politicians. They won’t put term limits on themselves so let’s do it at the poles. By electing new people in every election is the best way to get some fresh people representing us. Again the reality is there are presently only 2 viable parties, so vote for either one but get rid of the career polititions.

          • Alan Clark

HEY DAVE…What’s “same ole thing” about getting rid of every incumbent in Washington? Every half way intelligent person I know agrees with that play. When the whole crew is screwing up every aspect of their job, the solution is quite simple. You FIRE the whole dam crew, period.

          • Drew2010

            FIRE THEM ALL!!

          • DaveH

It will be the same old thing unless you can extract guarantees by the candidates that they will shrink Government. It won’t matter if they are old or new if they don’t promise to cut Government back dramatically and then follow through.

          • DaveH
        • http://N/A Patriot

          Thanks Alan
You seem to understand. The thing is we can’t do it if we fractionalize the vote. If people vote for 3rd 4th 5th parties the incumbents will win. There are ONLY 2 VIABLE parties so please vote for either one and against all incumbents.

          • DaveH

OMG. I have been hearing that same tired thing for 40 years now, and the Government keeps growing. Give it a rest guys. Bush Senior got nominated because the Republicans thought that to win they needed a more middle of the road candidate after Reagan.
I knew what you meant the first time Patriot. How dumb do you think I am? For sure not dumb enough to keep trying the same old thing over and over again with the delusion that maybe it will work this time.

          • DaveH

This just in. Scott Brown voted for the Jobs Bill (stimulus with a fancy name). As I have said before, he’s just another RINO. This is what you get when you vote for the “lesser of two evils”. Wake up!

          • DaveH

This is what you get when you rest your hopes for less Government on Republicans:

          • George E.

Was there a Libertarian in the race with Scott Brown for Massachusetts Senator?

  • Phil

I’ve always been aginst giving in to the terrorist… These incidents in this story are over the top… Do I feel safer?.. Not really..taking leg braces off a 4 yr old?.. The lack of common sense by these Tsa employes is more a worry to me than any terrorist…the Patriot act gives them the green light to do anything they want… Is it worth it?.. Not to me..

    • Harold Olsen

The way these TSA morons act and treat people is, itself, terrorism. They can pretty much do as they please and get away with it. As I’ve said, it’s terrorism and they are terrorists.

      • Warrior

Just think about once we get all those high speed trains, we’ll be able to hire more TSA employees to perform searches on those passengers. This is exciting.

      • K. Girard

I could not agree MORE… The TSA is an out of control group of people with too much power, they are enjoying themselves way too much at our expense.

    • http://Don'thaveone Sally

Phil, I feel sorry for anyone who has to fly these days, I guess if you are a frequenty flyer you should look into leasing flight times. However, my main comment is “They walk among us and the worst part is they VOTE!” How pathetic.

      • Cindy

Sally you are so right, they are so intertwined in the USA it would make your skin crawl. It makes me so sick to think this is what our Country has come to. “Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it”. I never knew what my grandfather meant by this, I sure do now. Our Government has forgotten our history and our children are paying for it. We need to get back to basics and start telling the youth no you can’t just have it but you can EARN it. We are raising a generation of give me’s. These TSA’s are proof of the disrespect we are teaching this generation. sad but true. Have a good day

  • RivahMitch

And people wonder why airlines are going broke… Personally, I no longer fly. If I can’t drive there, I’m not going. When American citizens, including those of us who’ve put our lives on the line for this country, need to be harassed at airports because the government refuses to defend our borders or name our enemies, that government has become “abusive of” our rights. Worse still, we’re paying for the abuse. Government is no longer the friend of the middle class taxpaying American..

    • TIME

Rivah, Government is not your friend at any level, it just looks like they are helping the ” POOR ” thats all a sham as well quite easy to see through, Use the week link to undermind the whole group.

      • DaveH

And they are only helping the poor to buy their votes. Once they achieve absolute power, the poor will be cast aside.

    • bert

Ditto! We have been profiled twice, though the searchers were polite. If the airlines go broke, Uncle will bail them out. When in power, abuse that power. Makes “them” feel good and superior to you, the hapless air traveler.

  • DogWithoutSlippers

The “Warder” mentality gives some of these common thugs power. The easy way is to pick on people to justify their prejudices – though muslim types are ushered through. People should just refuse to go through the body scan machine and say they will strip to their undies and let the “Warders” look up their cavities but will not be microwaved!

    • http://aol Pete H.

Hitler’s brown shirts-tsa investigaters=Obama’s suggested civilian police force. Enough to scare the hell of an AMERICAN.

    • kodster5

What’s the point of the body scanners, then? You’re complying to be naked in front them anyways… and that’s what they want… you to be at your complete nakedness, to humiliate and intimidate you. Why do you think cops like doing it when they process you for intake into jails? Why do you think the soldiers at Abu Ghabib got such sadistic joy out of doing their job? We’re being treated as prisoners of war.

    • DaveH

Please tell me you’re kidding. There will be hell to pay for anybody that ever forces me to undergo a cavity search.

      • Bob

Hell to pay, huh? And when you refuse you will be taken to a back room charged with a dozen felonies and then be searched at gun point.

As another said here, this is why I no longer fly anywhere, I used to love to fly but haven’t now since 9/11. If I can’t drive I don’t go. The next thing I expect to see is checkpoints at the state borders where they will check your papers and require state permission to leave the state.

        • DaveH

Cavity searches are the ultimate intrusion on our persons. If we can let these creep perverts get away with that, then we no longer have freedom.
Government has gotten so large under the guise of protecting us from others. But in reality, we now need somebody to protect us from the “protectors”.

  • http://??? joe momma

(that’s the one that is supposed to keep people “secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures”) rights to a government promising to keep them “safe.”….notice the amendment has a list…..first on the list????…your PERSONs……mandatory voluntary piss testing has been going on for decades…..i tole’ you then it was the road to a slippery slope… all just scoffed, cause we need to be safe from those “druggie” truck drivers and refinery workers……duh!….

    • TIME

Joe, Very good point, any invasion of your rights or freedoms is unreasonable.

    • DaveH

For sure, Joe, the drug wars were the first major assault on our Fourth Amendment rights:

And I know your frustration. I too have been preaching for years to a deaf audience. It would have been so much easier to stop it before it started; but now that people are finally waking up, it is going to take a much greater effort to roll back our Leviathan Government.

Still the vast majority of freedom-loving people think the Republican Party is going to lead us there. They aren’t. We will just get slower, more undetectable government growth with the Republicans until Government has reached critical mass and can no longer be turned back without extreme violence and sacrifice.

      • John B

You are dead on right !

        • Edward

If we send every incumbent home when his shift is up, we will get better government. I hear people whine that we’d be “losing continuity”, to which I am inclined to respond “: “…that’s exactly what the point would be…” continuity (same old, same old) we don’t need.

  • Carol Campbell

No, I don’t say “It’s okay what you do, just keep me safe”. Who asked me what I wanted? Who asked ANY of us what we wanted? This isn’t about our choices, it is about control. Unfortunately, there is no other practical choice for travel.

In May I need to go to New Mexico. It is fast to fly from Seattle to Albuquerque, but it would take a full two days on Amtrack, and much more than that to drive myself. Either option would be much more expensive that the $99 non-stop fare I snagged on Southwest.

So, I echo Jim in Alabama: “What are the options?”

    Carol in Bellingham WA

    • http://Don'thaveone Sally

Personally, I don’t understand why anyone has to be searched on internal flights, just international flights. I guess it is because they are afraid of old grandmas may have a bomb you know where! On the underwear bomber – if Holland had done their searches and profilling correctly, he wouldn’t have been on that plane to begin with. I don’t know the answer at this moment either.

  • Robin from Indiana

This is abuse… abuse of power! And what is wrong with profiling? When 4 year olds become terrorists and grandmas become terrorists, then maybe some one would have an explanation. I wonder how Barry would feel about having Michele and his daughters scanned?

  • Larry

I’m all for seeing TSA completed eliminated. There is no evidence they have made us safer. As for the white haired grannies, 4 year olds with disabilities, etc being selected for special scrutiny everyone clearly sees this abuse as wrong. Everyone except the ACLU it seems. While all terrorists (except for T Mcvey) have been middle eastern, Muslim men between 18 & 45 years old, we do not direct out scrutiny toward them, but instead gather the whole population in the net we cast. Racial profiling? That’s hard to swallow – IMO if a white man looking like Santa robs a bank, the cops should be looking for a Santa Claus. They should not search for black men who are under 4′ tall! It’s not racial profiling when the suspects general description is known as it is in the case of terrorist!
And don’t tell me all religions have fanatics – show me a Baptist suicide bomber!

    • iowaheretic

      You ARE kidding,aren’t you?

      • iowaheretic

I”m Referring to Westboro Baptist Church as being lunatics.

    • libertytrain

Larry – I expect all religions do have their own fanatics – Eric Rudolph – comes to my mind.

  • http://aol David

When you hire what amounts to Wal*Mart rent-a-cops and give them power, they act like this. These people are ill-trained and love harrassing people.

  • drfill

AMEN! All people with good common sense and decency agree with the preponderance of people expressing views here. Maybe you or Chip good research and write a good article on practical suggestions, including how to effectively complain and stand up for your constitutional rights with out having to be a defendent in Court.
I refuse to fly commercial because of all this crap. If I need to go a long distance, I rent a “small” plane, with a flight instructor, and have him fly me to my destination, getting some recreation flying lessons at the same time. Somewhat more expensive, but I absolutely hate to yield to communism and I hate to economically reward airlines that cooperate with fascism.

And remeber, when the Census takers (ACORN types?) come to your door, refuse to answer any questions about race. The Federal Government has the least excuse of any segment of society to be racist. All Congressmen and Senators who favor “Affirmative Action” are knucledragging racists of the worst kind.

    • TIME

With the Patriot act you have “no rights” when it comes to group travel in the air.

    • DaveH

The Census was instituted by the Constitution but only to enumerate the citizens for apportionment of our Representatives.
They have gotten totally out of hand with their questions:

      • http://Don'thaveone Sally

The fasinating thing about the Census is, I am 72 years old, have lived in the US 50 of those years (absense was due to my husband in the military) and only once, have I ever made out a Census form. My son who is 50 years old has never made out a form, nor ever seen a census taker in his life. So even this is a joke.

  • Arkham Grundy

I just flew back from Europe. After going through the usual security screening and x-ray of baggage at the airport in Paris, they later roped off our gate and everyone had the have every article of their carry-on searched while each passenger had to remove their outer clothing to be patted down by security staff of the same gender. We were told that there was a special security alert. The flight was delayed for over an hour.

A similar experience occurred in Frankfurt.

It’s not just here in the US. The terrorists have successfully disrupted life everywhere.

  • http://personalliberties suck it up

first lets remember that this is just a few exampels of hunderts of thousands of people that fly each day and if they ae the worst then how bad is it really?Parents should think before putting playdough in a carry on or liquids that cant be checked. The boy with the braces and the girl being given a hard time was over the top but that is going to happen sometimes and should be delt with accordingly.I do fly a great deal and a little forthought before you travel helps alot.

    • DaveH

Yeah, and soon you’ll be advising us to not worry about cavity searches, just make sure we do an enema first.

  • Kirk

I’m done flying. I’ve recently flown to a destination wedding with my 83 year old Mother and she has not yet recovered from the confusion and harassment. She was embarrassed for trying to remember which items were in which compartment of her carry on luggage. My Wife helped my Mother to find her boarding pass and 3oz. containers of dangerous chemicals such as toothpaste. I directed traffic around the 3 of us until everything was in order. The experience left my Mother confused which has never been an issue and realizing she is too old to endure this type of experience again.

  • Michelle

Great article – total abuse by the system. My family is avoiding all airline travel if possible and driving to destinations now. My husband jokes that we might as well go naked through the airport, that is how bad it is getting. This abuse of power has been going on for years. My first experiences with it was travel to Jamaica for my daughter’s wedding. She had the extra package of newly purchased batteries for her walkman taken away, still in the original packaging. I’m sure that agent needed free batteries. I was pulled for further screening while wearing a tight knit dress with built in bra, underwear and sandals. Don’t know what they thought I might be hiding. Traveling with babies is impossible because you can’t bring formula or drinks for them in sippy cups without causing trouble. What happened to our rights? We are done flying!

  • Jim

I was taught by truly educated (not brainwashed) educators, that the sole purpose of the Federal Gov’t was to protect my individual liberty from being usurped by anyone. And toward that end only, were they given the overwhelming powers that they so recklessly wield and regularly abuse now. I don’t want them to keep me “safe” by locking me up economically with devastating debt and pork laden legislation and physically prohibiting my free movement. I want them and especially the American Citizens, to recognize just how dangerously far they have progressively “wandered” into the dark realm of tyranny in so many ways in the past 100 years.

  • Donald

These Idiots at TSA are the ones who need to be strip searched. I had one take a small pair of wire cutters. I had accidently left them in a carry on bag. I had only been check through 6 other check points but
number 7 at Portland had a cow.WE went nose to nose over the whole deal and He said I could mail them to my self.
This bunch of TSA Idiots will get thiers one day some one with the real deal will come through a check point and blow thier ass to the moon. I’m done flying.

    • kodster5

I feel the same way. I flew to Quebec City, Canada, from Tennessee January of last year. I had absolutely no problems getting through security in Nashville to board my flight. Spent the long weekend with my daughter and her family in Quebec City… no problems. Get to the airport, go through security there, and they go through my purse, extracting out my cigar cutter and an extra lighter I had in there. The agent called out her supervisor when I questioned the validity of the danger of a cigar cutter, and the cigar cutter was confiscated, no further questions allowed. Personally, I think it was confiscated for personal use, not because it was contraband. :(

  • don

I Quit flying around the time all of this ignorance started. If I go anywhere now I drive there , or I do not go. I will not (Pay) to be treated like a common criminal by a bunch of poorly trained people with the BIG me Little you syndrom. The airlines can stuff it !!!!!!!!

  • Emily Brobst

President Obama and his family will never have to suffer any indignity the rest of us slaves have to endure because they always fly on government aircraft at our expense: To New York on a date, with Secret Service and plenty of back-up; to Hawaii on vacation. etc. It’s always the elites, who say Oh, I’m going into government service to serve the country I love, and once they are in power, integrity goes out the window. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely, someone said.

    • kodster5

Yes, and if someone else who posted, asking if Obama would object to Michelle and his daughters being treated like that? Will never happen now, since he now has the “privileges” of the office. They’ll always fly on the American taxpayers dole, till they get planted in the ground.

  • Kirk

This could be a tax savings pitch. How about we eliminate all public flying fleets and all politicians use the same air transportation that the public endures. Picture trying to stand in line and board with the President’s staff with all the hardware they carry going through the same check points with the same staff checking them out.

    • TIME

      Kirk, Now thats funny!

  • BigAl

I for one have never flown.

Seeing as how the Terrorist Scam Authority has taken all of the life and whatever fun there might have been out of flying, I will happily travel along the ground.
Only sheeple line up to be abused.
Americans have ceded their liberty for a little convenience.
    For shame.

    • DaveH

They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.
      Ben Franklin

    • Katja

Well, BigAl, now you can really be proud that you have never flown in your life ! Right, stay on your farm and think you live in the greatest country of the world, because you have never been anywhere else ! That’s just how this whole thing started: With Americans like you who never looked over their fence and thought all the rest of the world is evil, uncivilized and primitive (never mind all the German cars that you guys like so much ), and your country has to go out there, start a war, and bring them the “American way of life”, which is only a little older than 200 years, while other countries exist for 4000 !( I am NOT an Arab, but German, which means I HAVE to fly if I want to see my children over there). Now you wonder about terrorists from countries which are fed up with being bombed for no reason.
And it is not only the airports where you get humiliated. Recently I had to go in a Court House in Illinois. They scanned me and my purse, telling me I had suspicious stuff in there. Dumping my purse on the conveyer belt, they pawed through the purse and the things on the belt, finding nothing, but still claiming there was SOMETHING. I had to go out and put my purse in the car trunk. When I got back, that fat security woman told me, she saw something in my purse and I was not allowed to enter. When I told her, I do not even HAD a purse anymore, she got absolutely crabby and called her supervisor (who was luckily of a somewhat more sane mind) who let me enter.Facit: She did not even LOOK at her screen, and just all the time CLAIMED to see something. And I pay for that with my taxes !

How soon before travlers are issued disposable pj’s to put on before going through security.

There’s not enough shady looking characters going through the gates, so TSA folks have to harass somebody just to make their day interesting, doesn’t matter if it’s granny, or nursing mom.

I’ve tried to make small talk with some, and boy are they a sour bunch.
The only TSA’s half-way friendly are at the small airports.

  • Mike

I, for the life of me do not understand what is wrong with “profiling”. Further, I know that not all Muslims are terrorists, but it is pretty well established that all terrorists are Muslim men between the ages of 18 and 45. That sounds like a pretty good place to begin a security check rather that giving them some kind of “free pass” because of a warped sense of political correctness. Leave the kids, old ladies and veterans alone until they become recognized as terrorists. TSA is about as effective at what they do and how they do it as the IRS. They both need to be shut down because the are both operating “above the law”

    • Deb

I agree with you Mike about profiling.

    • Glenn

Do not forget the Federal Reserve. The Fed has been operating above all laws for almost 100 years come 2013.

    • Mark

I too believe profiling should be legal. It is however OUR country and we know exactly who these types are that carry bombs onboard aircraft. To hel_ with their whining this is OUR country. I used to fly but got tired of the abusive TSA butt holes. The majority are nothing but a bunch of looser sadists that could not get any other job, except a gov’t job. When I flew and if I have to again I always have a weapon. One that passes the gate everytime. One that would leave cut flesh and blood everywhere. No it is not a knife. But it would be sufficient for those coward muslim arabs that want to kill me. I choose to travel by motorcycle anymore. Why be in such a big damned hurry all the time. That way I am always locked and loaded for any aholes that want to play TSA agent and harass me.

From the start the TSA has been unruly.
I flew to Mexico some years ago and thotoughly checked out all the NEW requirements, especially about types of locks as I use a soft bag with no locks so use a padlock. Purchased an APPROVED BY TSA padlock.
uPON ARRIVAL at destination, my bag was open, strap around it missing, lock gone. And I know for a fact it could only have been done in JFK where I was first to check in,and was alone in airport for some time, plenty of time for ‘idle fingers to play’ The flight was delayed so transfer was severely rushed, so I am certain it was not done there. I made a complaint and a bill for missing strap an price of padlock. It took some time but i did get a refund.
This is not a horrific story as above BUT I would advise each and everyone to write to the head of TSA with their their reps and senators.

  • Gale

This is absolutely disgusting, it was bad before but now it has become ridiculous. Whey do they pick on older women w/lots of gray hair and little children, they are real terrorists. It is time (past time) to start profiling and looking at the ones that could be terrorists. The last time I flew was June of last year and I may not fly again – the TSA people are enjoying this, they are such small petty people and have no intellect at all. It’s no wonder the airlines are losing money.

    • TIME

Gale, TSA’s rules to look for are the following profiles,
      #1, anyone with a baby,
#2, anyone who acts wierd or strange,
      #3, older people.

Thats all rather straight forward profile.

  • Merlin

Airport security is a horrible joke. They are not permitted to profile less someone from a particular group be offended. So instead, airport security harrases, terrrorizes and offends others who are the most unlikely to be terrorists. This is both illogical and inefficient as well as a waste of time. While security is spending it’s valuable time torturing crippled children or terrorizing little old ladies, potentail terrorist walk right by. The people in charge don’t seem to have very much common sence. In any case much of what is being done is in violation of the consstitution. When we destroy our own freedom in the name of safety the terrorist win a victory. I do not say that there shoud not be security measures but we should use common sense and violate the constitution.

  • J.D.

It is instances like this, I hope we remember, to research your elected officials and vote out the crud that is screwing us!! These are our rights and the people that are trying to take them away are suppose to work for us!!! This year, some of us are voting for congressmen. Lets show, by our vote, that we are tired and we ain’t gonna take their crap no more! Please research your elected officials thoroughly and lets get them out if they are crap. I am for term limits simply because if there is new blood in there every four/six years theres less likelihood of any heavy, power-wielding government. That, and there is more chance for the average joe to be elected, instead of constantly having long family heritage in one seat forever. Also, if you serve a term and then have to go back to where you come from and can’t hide out in D.C. the rest of your life, you might be a little more careful about how you vote on issues that matter to your neighbor and your community. Lets get people in our government who care more about our rights and the United States than about their pocketbooks and their special interests and more government control. It boils down to us, lets vote the miserable trash that is now in D.C. out and take back OUR government!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • J.D.

These laws for all this are just like locks, they only stop honest people from doing things that we would’t do anyway. The terrorist will find a way around it, they always do, so if you think you are that much safer for the liberty you spend to get it, fine. But in the end, I still feel this isn’t for our safety, but for more government control. If you wish to stick up for it, don’t complain when they break into your house without a warrant or search anything you have without just cause. They now don’t need it. I’m just saying……

    • American Citizen

You’re right, look at the guy that stole a plane and flew it into that IRS building in Austin, TX.

  • Annie Ladysmith

Of course the goal to all this is to limit travel, keep us permanently in our goegraphical “zones” and ultimately to close down private transport. If you want to travel hassel free you must drive the backroads of America looking for a sneaky way to your destination and praying you don’t run into border patrol. One thought while traveling is to have nothing for them to screen, wear a potato sack, bring infants with no food and no diapers and no toys and have them screaming angry through the whole process. Have your kids crap all over, apologizing profusely, and stated that you had read they had banned diapers. When they keep you in line too long take a crap, or even a fake crap you’ve keep in a baggie, from the day before your trip, and then apologize profusely while citing your fearful phobia about making a mistake. Say you will clean it up, while all passengers eyes are on you, state your absolute fear for homeland security and shit your pants again, if you possible can (take a strong laxative the night before, and go ahead, NOW is the time to take the plug out of your butt and BLOW IT OUT YOUR ASS. Delay, yeah their will be a “delay”, but they will want to put you on something, anything just to not get your shit on any more of their machines, not to mention their working enviroment.
Always be polite and even act fearful as these security thugs approach you. Say you mother or father were taking by the Nazis and this is bringing it all back. If you old enough say you were taking by the nazis (the screeners have barely graduated high school, they have no clue about historical dates). Be sure to act embarrased as you leave your crap-trail” all along their windy lines.

    • kodster5

LOL! I like your thinking! It’s all full of crap, so why not contribute your own, literally!

  • http://gmail Lone Rider

Well the TSA was to be unionized that was made sure of by tax cheat Daschle and his worm breathe dems. The only profiling is white American citizens and small children. It takes you going to an airport 2 hrs earler for a 1/2 hour flight. Government effiency. Of course don’t forget about the convicted felons that check and some times steal stuff from your luggage. A very fine crew of unionized government staff.I don’t know why they don’t cheek swab and unine test while we wait also, help kill time while we wait for our flight.

    • kodster5

Well, you posted a good post, except for one thing… the TSA is NOT unionized… YET! That’s why the TSA doesn’t have a director yet… the nominee that Obama selected from the LAPD couldn’t get out of committee because it was discovered that he wanted to unionize TSA, and because he abused his own power, using his position to check on the boyfriend of his ex-wife without their knowledge, because the nominee is a stalker cop. Thank goodness he was found out about, and withdrew from the selection process!

  • Barbara

This is addressed to drfill: I am a Security Officer (your rent a cop) who, if I did what these people do, My supervisor would first, council me on the impropriaty of my actions, second: write me up with the promise of a lost job and 3rd: remove me from that post for not following my Post Orders. We may be Rent a Cop in your eyes, but we are hard working individuals who pride ourselves on protecting our Client to the best of our ability. Just ask a company why they have us protecting their property and personnel!! I do agree with the thoughts of all of you about the inefficient people manning our airport security stations.

    • American Citizen

What about coming to the aid of someone who is being beaten up like that teenage girl was in front of security? Didn’t she have a right to be secure from those thugs?

    • Pete

Barbara, let us know what airport you work at so we can fly to and from there, because you seem to be the only TSA agent that possibly is human. Every where else the airports appear to be manned with TSA agents that are moronic mouth breathers. They need to use some common sense, but that will never happen because common sense has died…even in Washington. Come on, let the mother drink the breast milk or water. If it is acid or explosive then find out what antidote she uses so we all can have it and be safe from attack. Do you really think the crippled little boy is going to suddenly rip off his leg braces and become villainous ninja turtle? I’ve been flying since the 1950s but no more if I can possibly help it. It’s train travel or automobiles for me from now on. The airlines can just go broke as far as I’m concerned. That’ll leave the TSA agents guarding empty airports. You know you’ll still be there because once the government starts something, it never goes away especially if it’s not needed anymore. We’ll send in donuts once and a while.

  • DaveH

“it’s a power play by people given a little authority that they begin to abuse”. So true, Bob Livingston. I believe that is why our Founders created the 4th Amendment, knowing how people with authority to search could go on power-trips.

We have gone from a nation of rugged pioneers to a nation of wimps in just a few hundred years.

When they come to investigate the crap then have a fake heart attack, be breathless but demand medical intervention not be called, you are too poor, what with obamacare taxes taking your only income, to pay for ANY doctors never mind an ambulance. You will die on the spot before you will pay for an ambulance but, could they please bring out one of their tazors to speed up the process. Plead with them to tazor you and let you die of your heart atack anywhere but a FEAM camp. If we all did this there is no way they could ever deal with it effectively, they would have to show their hand and crank down hard, making more citizen soldiers out of the masses they hope to humiliate, subtugate and then murder.

  • iowaheretic

When that moron underwear bomber made the news at christmas, all you people did was complain that airport security wasn’t doing thier job. Now that they are trying to do thier job,all you do is complain! What do you want? Remember(if you have the brain capacity),that ALL of this was brought on by the religious right christians in the first place(starting about 20 years ago),giving religion a status in society it doesn’t deserve to have. You all think you are above the law and answer to god. The muslims are doing the exact same thing! All common laws in civilized society were made up by men 2000 years BEFORE anyone ever heard of Jesus or Muhammad. And that’s ALL this is about, people killing each other and imprisoning humanity, over NOTHING but mythical figures! George Washington once said “I had hoped liberal and enlightened thought would have reconciled the christians so that thier religious fights wouldn’t endanger the peace of society.” Boy,what a moron he was! What a waste of the enlightenment years! 250 years later, your “loving god” is still going strong(in the mind, because that’s the only place he really is). Can’t people see that the human race is being herded and railroaded into the biggest religious concentration camp ever thought of on earth! And by the way, the “Patriot Act” IS Hitler’s “Enabling Act”, just translated from german into english(also the reason for putting a german former nazi Pope into power),even if none of you want to admit it. You christians thought it was just fine trying to impose your infantile beliefs and religious laws on your fellow citizens, and then you cry like babies when you suffer the consequences. You know what they say, “What comes around, goes around”.

    • American Citizen

It wasn’t the fact of airline security not doing its job, that was only part of the reason for the outrage. The guy was on a terrorist list. His own father turned him in. The letdown was in his own country by intelligence agencies.

      • American Citizen

For that matter, man’s inhumanity to man has existed since Cain killed his brother Abel.

        • iowaheretic

You’re right, man’s inhumanity to man probably started when the first caveman killed another caveman for something he wanted, but why do we have to continue it?

    • DaveH

Where do you get your misinformation? How did the religious right start this 20 years ago?
And the Patriot Act was voted on by the majority of both major parties.

      • iowaheretic

The Religious(political)Right started it’s adgenda about 20 or more years ago to put thier religious laws above all other laws of America. One example is thier “Reclaiming America for God”. There are many, many, many more like this going on that people don’t seem to know about, but they have a lot of money and corrupt power. AIPAC has the most lobbyist’ and power in America and thier agenda is to have the Ultra-Religious Right in full power in America forever. If you read some of thier radical christian agenda’s they have planned, it’s like reading about the Roman Emperor Constantine(the most brutal dictator ever). And by one form of religion thinking it can take over a country, that opens the door for all of them to think the same, including Musslims, because they have been in America since the 1800′s. I know you probably won’t believe me, but the facts are all there if you really want to find them for yourself. Just get on the internet and start looking it up. One good movie to see is “The God That Wasn’t There”. If you believe in god or not is beside the point, it’s about what certain people want to do with THIER beliefs that will affect everyone. As for the “Patriot Act”, I read about it when Clinton was president, all Bush did was sign it into law. Both sides of the government seem to be against the people one way or another. All I’m saying about the “Patriot Act” is, that if you read Hitler’s “Enabling Act” it’s hard to tell the difference between the two.

        • DaveH

I don’t believe there is a god, but I would take most religious people any day over thieving, controlling Liberals. At least they are trying to be moral.
I don’t think the Patriot Act is a good thing at all. I just recognize that both major parties were involved in that Unconstitutional Monstrosity. And for those who say we need it to spy on suspects, we already had that capability, with checks and balances. All they had to do was get a Judge to sign off on the warrant. How hard is that if they have a legitimate purpose?
I consider the Liberals’ attempts to force me to buy a product that I don’t believe in (Health Insurance) a lot more eggregious though.

Has anyone ever studied Fascism? If you want to learn about what is going on in America today read these definitions by the great Architect: “Mussolini”! It seems that our Gov. or the ones that pull the strings of Gov. love Fascism and want the US to model it! The only official definition of Fascism comes from Benito Mussolini, the founder of fascism, in which he outlines three principles of a fascist philosophy.
1.”Everything in the state”. The Government is supreme and the country is all-encompasing, and all within it must conform to the ruling body, often a dictator.
2.”Nothing outside the state”. The country must grow and the implied goal of any fascist nation is to rule the world, and have every human submit to the government.
3.”Nothing against the state”. Any type of questioning the government is not to be tolerated. If you do not see things our way, you are wrong. If you do not agree with the government, you cannot be allowed to live and taint the minds of the rest of the good citizens.
The use of militarism was implied only as a means to accomplish one of the three above principles, mainly to keep the people and rest of the world in line. Fascist countries are known for their harmony and lack of internal strife. There are no conflicting parties or elections in fascist countries.
Nazi Germany was extreme Fascism, better examples of fascist countries were Mussolini’s Italy, Iraq, Iran, and many middle eastern countries.

    • American Citizen

      Can you say progressivism?

    • Pete

Yup, we are there already. We unfortunately have “Obamalini “. How we can still have a foreign born President in office is beyond me. I’m totally disgusted with what has happened to our once great country.

    • DaveH

They’ll just go begging at the government trough.

  • Ann

I have a total right knee replacment and so therefore I always set the metal detectors off, then have to be searched. I always tell them before entering that I have the replacement so they know before hand the detector will go off. Flying back from Anaheim once they of course had to place me in a special clear room to be man handled for all to watch, but the thing that struck me as wrong, wrong, wrong was the search of my carry on, I had a tube of hand lotion that I had tossed in while packing and a cigarette lighter, the woman kept the lotion telling me I could not take it but threw the cigarette lighter back into the bag, go figure, guess she had chapped hands that day, but didn’t care whether or not I started a fire on the plane.

  • alg

Amazing…here’s the old double standard at work! The very same people that are condemning so-called abuses of their liberty by tsa will turn around and ask where was security when the underwear bomber got on the plane. yadayadayada….more right wing bs.

    • independant thinker

The whole point of the complaints about the underwear bomber is………He should never have made it to the security checkpoints. He should have been identified when he bought his tickes given the information available about him pulled from line and denied the chance to board.

    • DaveH

      You have a list Alg?
      Typical Liberal Hyperbole.

  • Jacqueline

I will tell you why these things happen, it is simple you see they hire young inexperience people and put young people in possition of authority. If the federal government want to run a more efficient TSA they need to hire people with law enforcement experience who are older more experience in dealing with the public.

  • Not-Impressed

You are showing your intelligence! I think the airports in Israel have got it figured out totally! There has not been one hijacking or terrorist plot on one of their planes since the 1970′s. What are they doing that we don’t? Racial profiling definitely has it’s place. We know who the Muslims are!

    • s c

Yes, the Israelis know how to make airports safe. They also know how to build security fences. In other words, our government [the "best" government MONEY can buy] specializes in expensive, time-wasting talk, wasted resources and money. The Israelis get things done.
Why can’t we have military personnel in charge of airport security? At least they would have not have endless excuses about trying to get away with being overpaid and utterly incompetent.
And, their salaries would probably be much less than the security ‘wizards’ who are running airport security now. Whoever came up with the brilliant idea of the airheads who run airport security now should be neutered and deported to a Third World country.

      • American Citizen

They don’t have to worry about political correctness, hate crimes, racism, etc. That’s what’s doing us in.

      • iowaheretic

I think that’s one of the best ideas I’ve heard so far. They could close up a couple of the military bases we have around the world that aren’t accomplishing anything but costing the taxpayers a fortune, bring those soldiers home to do something to actually benefit the people.

  • mario – streamwood – IL

Once I was travelling with my 70+ year old parents and a 12 year old daughter. The TSA chose them at random to be searched. I wish I had taken a picture while the TSA was searching them to show how stupid and ridiculous the TSA is. This is true story. Un”freaking”believable. We should be vigilant against any abuse by the TSA.

  • DaveH

We need to get this RINO John McCain out of office:

  • http://none Mark H.Giles

Hey Mr./ Mrs. TSA officer– if you show me yours, I’ll show you mine! Well, I’m not so humiliated now, you have less to show than I do!!!

  • independant thinker

The “bodily function” post was quite funny. Here is another for you. A group of nudest of all ages show up and drop their clothes saying see we have nothing to hide so could we please board now.

  • Bunny-bea Canada

Canada..It’s not OK…the USA. is not the only country who is being abused by these surety practices’..I refuse to take a flight.Like many others,If I can’t drive there I won’t go..I am one of those 4.ft.11 inches tall white haired 60 year old Granny’s..Was it a number in my height that set them off..or what? Last time I traveled I was checked out and felt harassed.invaded and embarrassed by a 6’4 tall surety agent who was German and spoke broken English..He made me feel like I was living in one of those old bad war movies trying to sneak across the boarder… the way this was trying to get back into my own country.Gone are the day’s of that free feeling, gone are the days when we could walk across the boarder between Canada and the US. with a wave and happy voice saying Have a good visit from the surety guard..gone are the days when all we needed to show was our medical card number and a library card if we had nothing else on us.most of the time we never needed to show any I.D…I feel so sad for all those who will never know that wonderful innocent free feeling. It’s not just air lines either it is at boarder crossing between Canada and the US. .Almost every person 3rd-4th generation Canadian has family roots to the states from when people immigrated from the old countries…So many of us have family on both sides of the boarder we will never see again..My children will never know their second cousins in the united states…Many families have been forever separated for as little as a driving offence and can’t get a passport. Some I have heard about who have parents they will never be able to see again..A man I know from Michigan who lived in Canada passed away unexpectedly a few months ago and his family was unable to attend his service in Canada because they couldn’t get passports soon enough…I am for one have roots to the united states. As the family story goes’,In the 1800′s. a stage coach driver in Minnesota came across a small wagon train of people on the move for work in Canada from I think it was Kentucky, they had all been killed on the trail,When the stage coach driver stopped to inspect if there were any survivors he heard a baby cry..A baby girl about three months old that he wrapped up and carried along to his next stop on his route and handed the baby girl over to the post office mistress in Canada who raised the child. This child was my great, great grandmother on my father side.To whom she belonged to we have never been able to find out and will probably never know.My great grandfather came to Canada as a young man for work from Virginia, where to my knowledge still have distance family members.
All this surety has caused much more misery down the line than just the degrading unconvince of being abused for the sake to keep us safe…Are we all so incompetent we need taking care of like small children..
We need to take some lessons from Europe. These practices with so much identification never worked there and was dropped many years ago after WW11.They can now walk freely from one country to another with out showing any identification..Moving from one country to another is not so easy though with out all the proper requirements and paper work as it should be…All this surety is out of the dark ages, after all we are all,we do live on the same continent of North America and we should be able to go back and forth to visit..with out all this intimidation and identification in our pockets.I know who I am.I am a good person who is made feel like a criminal,I know where I live and have no intentions of slipping across the boarder to live in the states.I would never give up my home in more than someone from the states would want to move to Canada. If the government had their way every new born baby would have a tracking system inserted in them when they are born..Who is the government so afraid of that we need to be so controlled and tracked.they are going to cause an uprising among ourselves. Are we so afraid of our own governments. We have allowed the loss of our freedom we have allowed the control,we have allowed ourselves to be brain washed..We have all allowed ourselves to be put into a terrible terrible sad situation..not much unlike the control Hitler had years ago..

  • Raggs

I have said it before and I’ll say it again.

Scare the public to get them in submission! Swine flu, terror threat’s it doesn’t matter what vehicle they use it all work’s for the sheeple.

  • Michele McHenry

When was the TSA put into power and by whom?

It was not by the current government.

What training were they required go through, degree’s or certificates did have earn before being able to become an agent? And what kind of performance reviews and how many do they need to have on a yearly basis?

What is their code of ethics or mission statements, if there are any? What gives them the authority to be agents and what rules are they suppose to follow,(is there a book?) and what data have they been able to gather as far as finding “terrorist” types of materials,or stopping a terrorist attack?

Lack of accountability, for what the TSA is actually suppose to be doing to protect and serve the innocent from terrorists has never been made clear. It only seems that the innocent are the ones falsely accused and harrassed. How many terrorists have been prevented from boarding and actually been arrested for plotting a terrorist attack on a plane that the TSA caught??

    6.8 Billion dollars a year

And now it is official – the stupidity of the TSA knows no limits. In the midst of the confusion regarding the Northwest Airlines terror attempt, blogs all tried their best to report on the latest news. They pretty much had to, because the TSA (or any other government agency) had nothing to say except: On Dec 25th, 2009

    Transportation Security Administration

    Aviation Security Directive

    Subject: Security Directive
    Number: SD 1544-09-06
    Date: December 25, 2009

    EXPIRATION: 0200Z on December 30, 2009

This Security Directive (SD) must be implemented immediately. The measures contained in this SD are in addition to all other SDs currently in effect for your operations.

INFORMATION: On December 25, 2009, a terrorist attack was attempted against a flight traveling to the United States. TSA has identified security measures to be implemented by airports, aircraft operators, and foreign air carriers to mitigate potential threats to flights.

ACTIONS REQUIRED: If you conduct scheduled and/or public charter flight operations under a Full Program under 49 CFR 1544.101(a) departing from any foreign location to the United States (including its territories and possessions), you must immediately implement all measures in this SD for each such flight.

    1. The aircraft operator or authorized air carrier representative must ensure all passengers are screened at the boarding gate during the boarding process using the following procedures. These procedures are in addition to the screening of all passengers at the screening checkpoint.

    1. Perform thorough pat-down of all passengers at boarding gate prior to boarding, concentrating on upper legs and torso.
    2. Physically inspect 100 percent of all passenger accessible property at the boarding gate prior to boarding, with focus on syringes being transported along with powders and/or liquids.
    3. Ensure the liquids, aerosols, and gels restrictions are strictly adhered to in accordance with SD 1544-06-02E.

    2. During the boarding process, the air carrier may exempt passengers who are Heads of State or Heads of Government from the measures outlined in Section I.A. of this SD, including the following who are traveling with the Head of State or Head of Government:

    1. Spouse and children, or
    2. One other individual (chosen by the Head of State or Head of Government)

I say, we ask the current government to “change” the faux-paux made so many years ago buy a government that was not critizised or voted out, and if they can’t fix it now, THEN get a government that will. Just because something that someone did 10 years ago is a complete failure does not mean the next lawmaker is responsible. Can’t we go forth in force and demand a change, something we did not do for 9 years?

After my last trip on a plane in a wheelchair a few months ago and being stripped in a glass room, and not to mention made to stand and then yelled at when I tried to catch myself from falling, am definitly writting a letter. And that is not the whole story. In order to make change you have to come together and demand it. Not just hope someone will do it if you vote them out. They don’t read minds. Shoot the guy that started it, got it all wrong, did we vote him out or making him responsible in anyway?

The TSA, the IRS, and other government agencies are so abusive, I cry for the freedoms lost in our country. We need a national day of mourning where everyone stops for one minute at a specific time and prays that one day our “Constitutional Freedoms” will be restored to us. “We the People” need to unite and take back control our our corrupt government. “We the People” need to take back the lawmakers powers to enact new laws and taxes, so that we can give that power back to the people; modern technology gives us the ability to do this.

I can see it all now!
Wichita’s one and only TSA operated airport is proud to present Miss Gypsy Rose Lee!

We all complain but we never come together to do anything about it.Yes..we need a peaceful protest,,Did we the people not elect the people in power to manage our countries, those government officials are the peoples employees….If our boss at work is not pleased with our performance we get fired..If we hire someone to do a job in our home and its not to our expectations we refuse to pay the bill until its done right. …Security in the United Sates and Canada have fallen in line with each others is has all gotten out of control to the point it is mentally disturbing they have installed so much fear, just like they wanted to so they could gain the power of control..
You say modern technology gives us the power to take things back. Why isn’t it happening.

Just wait till christians and patriots are the “subversives” for not going along with this insanity much further. The “what do you have to hide then” chorus will soon be coming, along with our liberty which is practically gone already. Cameras on every street, Lo-jack tracking our every move, RFID chips in everything, we have better wake up and get these criminals out of office and elect REAL, TRUE, CONSTITUTIONALIST CONSERVATIVES!!!!!!!!! BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE!!!!!
May God bless our country just a little longer so we can show him that we really do want him around.

OK, Let me tell some experiences with TSA, When it first was put in place I needed to fly to Florida from Dallas. I had a bag with SCUBA gear in a bag I checked, at 6;05 AM and with a virtually empty airport, they decided to go thru my carry on bag, each piece was taken out, placed on a table, and patted down and inspected, by none other than A MUSLIM LADY, With all the black Robes And head gear that go along with the outfit. A little Irony? HOW ABOUT a little profiling!
Next Trip to same location, I wanted to remodel a condo, so I bought a big black tool box nd put all construction tools in it with 2 padlocks. They of course wanted the locks opened, so I complied, but then the let me re-lock them once screened. The black girl that looked at the tools had no Idea what she was looking at, a power drill, a skill saw? Some guy had to take over, after she showed her bewilderment at these tools. The locks were put on the tool box as there was at least $1,000.00 worth of professional tools which I could imagine that the bag handlers could use.
Next trip, the gay flight attendant wanted to throw me off because I complained that some one in row 35 put their carry-on over my seat in row 10,and he wanted me to take MY BAG to row 35, BULLSHIT, the captian decided that I was right…I Am still amazed at that one. Too much power with flight attendants as well.
Another time after installing a machine, part of my job, I left an adjustable wrench( 6 inches long) the took it like I was going to dis-assemble the plane in flight. They considered it a weapon!
Now we fly back and forth from Miami to Honduras, What a joke. They put us thru the entire BS here and now I have a knee replacement, even more, 3 hours early at the airport, to mess with us and go tru our bags. I placed a lock on the outside of my suitcase, only on a zipper tab, not locking ANYTHING…OF COURSE THEY CUT IT OFF…why? because it was there!
When we get to Honduras they physically go thru all of our bags, In front of you thankfully, but they find something you ned to pay a duty on, BUT WAIT, on the way back to the US, you go thru the screening before you enter the gate area, then AGAIN before you get on the plane, even though the gate area is secured….
They all call it security, but we all know it is taking away our rights, TSA+ TO STEAL ANYTHING
These are the most incompetent people on Earth that get TSA jobs
Oh, by the way I am a Nudist so the new machine gives me a giggle.

I was on LITHIUM and not BI-POLAR for 10 years on this medication that had me laughing for 8 hours of the dat and crashes every night and I flew and drove to Brownsville,Texas that whole period before 9-11 and was withdrawn at times I tried to get off the drugs. When I was flying out of Houstons Hobby airport looking very withdrawn and scary acting to the airlines while changing planes I somehow got away boarding the flight to Kansas City then on to Chicagos Midway airport but was always suppose to use the St. Louis connection via to Chicago coming and going from Texas and Illinois.Theairlines let me do this only because of weather delays going on,but when we arrived in Kansas City and I was questioned about going onto Chicago, but my luggage went on the St.Louis flight and was already in Chicago before I got out of Kansas City the airlines Southwest really become very concerned that my luggage did not go on the plane I was on and this was already the rules before 9-11 and that really almost got me thrown off in Kansas City even thoe the plane went to Midway empty. This tells you that already the security was getting more tighter, back before 9-11.The LITHIUM withdrawal in my appearances really made the pilot scared to take off from Kansas City that night with me on board.Another incident was flying out of Millwaukes Michell airport with my brother to sell the place in Brownsville,Texas in 2004 as Mom had passed away there and I was there but had to go back and hte TSA SECURITY saw in mhy carry on that I was bringing my TRIPLE THE POWER MAGNETIC INSOLES that make you really sleep great at nights and go inside your SOCKS as you wear them that way to bed. When SECURITY saw them in the socks like that as it showed up in SECURITY SCANS again we were like the only ones flying or in the security line that morning,it really scared the security screener and he said to his other security worker Hey Nate you got to see this as he pulled these 5 per sock MAGNETS INSOLES as I has it that way to double TTRIPLE the magnetism POWER STRENGTH as those South Texas flea-markets SOLD THEM TO ME AND i WANTED MORE POWER TO SLEEP BETTER.Security really was scared having me come to the airport like that even thoe I said this is the way you keep the insoles thick on togeather is in socks. They were really puzzled as what was I up to,also because they also said when I entered the airport I really looked scary and suspect and why was I double questioning my luggage check in as I drove all night straight to the airport from Omaha,Nebraska that evening before flying out of Milwaukee. They said also I had something in my carry on that a friend put in my carry on bag in Nebraska I recalled that was forbidden and being tired fron that 500 mile drive forgot to remove it.This goes to tell you dont look tired and dont be off your medications or withdrawn from medications as I was still in that state from going off LITHIUM of 10 years on it.Today I can go through security really without setting off any suspicion as you are not suppose to look scary and withdrawn. Those powerful magnets thoe really scared SECURITY like I was to wear them or could on the flight and maybe swithch off or on some current that could bring the plane down.I said to SECURITY WHO LET ME ON BOARD WITH THESE HEAVY SOCKS that wearing them while awake will cause a heart attack as you only wear to bed and never while awake or while active. My MAGNETS were so powerful that they are used in the security detectors to show and attract images or detect a lot of metal.

If you think this is so bad, just wait until they get hold of your health care.

Just like the Tea Bag Party, the airline passengers are going to have to make a lot of noise so they can get the deaf, ignoring folks in the security world to listen up. There is going to have to be a rel demand from all quarters to get the attention of those in charge and at the airports to pay attention to the growing complaints of the passengers and pay attention to the real job of looking for those that would hinder the safety of all, the terrorist component.

It is a point to be made when the Isralie security is looked at as a better way to do biz, then watch our enforcement at the air ports totally turn off their hearing aid and let you now that. “It ain’t gonna happen on their watch.” This obstinace and downright ignorance has really PO’d the average American, I can tell you retribution is going to come in this matter and it’s up to the airline passengers to keep the heat on thse people.

  • Daniel Cianci Chicago northwest Indiana region.

This would not work out,but as it would really cost too much more for more security machines, but I remember when each gate at the Omaha and Chicago airports and Lincoln,Nebraska had those at that time a metal detector in the form of a tunnel but you were screened at each gate.Today this would allow everyone too much airport access but you could then go to the food courts with before seeing family off, like in the past. One thing great about only flyers allowed today since 9-11 my brother said is there is no more airport concourse congestions but its still busy during busy periods.Today its more secure by having the security away from the airline gates. This would make it easier and faster for checking into security, but again the expense of every gate having to have more T.S.A. and more machines would just be too expensive. When the gate would close after the plane would depart, the doors are locked to the jetway and would have to have cameras on the doors and alarms go off if someone would try to open it to hide something inside the jetway if the security was like it was in the 1970s style.I thoughtthis would speed up security every gate having its own checkpoint.

I am currently out of work, and for the price of bail and the pleasure I would receive, I would gladly discipline those responsible for the mistreatment of children and their mothers. If you think the terrorists and their appeasers thought water-boarding was cruel, these guys at TWA would beg for this treatment and welcome it as a healthy recreational activity compared to what I would love to do to these scum bags. So, will anyone hire me for the job?

  • Rob Bonter

Through all this whining and complaining about security precautions and measures taken by government employees, I notice we have NOT been attacked since 9/11. If we never have another 9/11, that means that no more American citizens will have died via attack on our homeland, and that is NOT a bad trade.

Grow up, whiners, you cannot have it both ways. Freedom is NOT being dead in a war zone, freedom is being alive and protected, so that you can live out your life. Which do you prefer, being free and dead, or being alive thanks to some understandable protective measures implemented on behalf of all of us?

You guys are doing a great job of getting the Democrats re-elected. I know, I know, “Republicans did it too…”, “George Bush is a member of the Hully-Gully secret society…” and “Ronald Reagan increased government employees…” etc. etc. Give it a rest. The GOP is where you start. Get rid of the democrats, who are clearly socialist/communist and make the Republicans toe the line by showing conservative constitutionalists at the primaries. A vote for a Libertarian is a vote for communism. It’s a cowardly avoidance of responsibility, and delusional behavior.
Being a radical is being a radical, Left or Right. Being Conservative is NOT being a radical.

    • blackhat

      here, here…well struck Gates!

    • Marcus

Exactly. Another name for them are “Progressives” and they inhabit both parties. Your right, we need to vote for CONSERVATIVE REPUBLICANS or we will end up right where we are at. Do the filtering process at the PRIMARY levels and get new conservative blood in there. If we stick together we can get the commies out. Absolutely stunning that we have gotten to this place in America, these politicians have NO SHAME….stunning.

    • Marcus

This is a planned, well orchestrated process that is and has been in motion for a long time, David. For security we give up or liberty, then all it takes is an event and were done. We have one chance if we can get there, and that is the mid-term elections. Get the bums out and then start impeachment proceedings on Obama while we still have a nation left. It is that close in my opinion. We have got to make it to that point and then we have a shot. Pray, pray, and then pray some more, then ACT and get everyone you know to ACT at the polls. May God Bless America a little longer.

It would appear that the solution might be found in some simple math.

    SOME FACTS about 2008 election
    2008 eligible voters – 231,229,580
    2008 voter turnout – 56.8%
The number of folks that voted – 131,338,401
Thats 56.8% up from the traditional average of 54%
That’s an increase of 2.8% above the average
    Obama’s % of popular vote 52% (74,600,212
    McCain’s % of popular vote 46.6% (56,738,189)
    Other % of popular vote 1.4% (1,838,738)
Means there were 74,600,212 (131,338,401 x 52%) Obama voters or 32.26% of the eligible voters that appear to be the cause of your concerns.

Presuming that everybody that bought the HOPE AND CHANGE message voted Obama – democratic, and the Other vote was constant, then all that was required to change the outcome would be a voter turnout of a mere 66.15% of eligible voters.
    eligible voters – 231,229,580 x 66.15% = 152,958,367
Therefore total votes cast minus the HOPE AND CHANGE voters
    152,958,367 – 74,600,212 = 78,358,155

The number of folks that vote in other countries might be of interest. Only Poland has a lower turnout. There appear to many factors that govern voter turnout including weather conditions, but making sure everyone you know votes seems to be important.
    Malta 94%
    Austria 92%
    Italy 90%
    Luxembourg 90%

    Okay folks,
You have all just about said it right.
Don’t necessarily vote out the incumbents just because they are incumbents.
BUT, here is what I intend to do. I intend to find out who is running, if they are an incumbent, then I go to the government website and see how they voted on particular issues. If they are not what I wanted or thought they should have done, then they don’t get my vote. As far as newcomers go, I will see what they stand for and vote accordingly. If after they serve, then I will check their voting record while in office and if they lied or didn’t vote as promised, they don’t get my next vote.
I believe that is the only sure way to get their attention.
And like Hugh above so succinctly put it, GET OUT AND VOTE!!!!!

  • Warrior

I believe it may be less expensive in the long run to send welfare checks to terrorists instead of hiring TSA workers.

  • SiliconDoc

The way the Congress and TSA have reacted to each new averted airline breach, has made shockingly clear to me what complete morons they are.
The only other explanation is they can hardly wait for the next stupid terror failure so they can go one more step.
In either case it is now embarrassing to actually live here and know and understand our government is so screwed up that it has this ridiculous reactionary retard run “wall of air safety” they personally endorse at all the major airports here.
    It’s becoming shameful.
I am starting to understand some of the quaint movie lines and scenes where foreigners try real hard to claim they are not ashamed to be from such and such a country. I see now they must know what foolishness their governments acted with, and how it has reflected upon who and what they are, being citizens “under them”.
    Yes, it’s getting embarrassing.

Here’s the PROBLEM “American’s” even after “letting” the TSA shit all over “us” the real “killers” are still getting on the plane’s
this is a FACT !! (UNDERWARE BOMBER) ring any BELLS ????

  • Frequent Flyer

Pilot friend recounted incident several months ago wherein he (in uniform) was passenger going to next assignment. Even with proper credentials, was told to remove shoes, then wings from his hat & jacket by TSA. Woman in front of him stopped for not having requisite ziploc bag for cosmetics asked another woman if she could put them in hers… second woman said, “OK.” They both moved through scanner, first woman retrieved her stuff, they both boarded without further delay. Go figure.

  • Senior Cesar

I have had my own problems with the TSA. I solved it with a form provided by the TSA office located at the airport.

The TSA have offices on the airport. Also there have to be a police headquarter at the airport. Any one who discovers that any one of those agents have stolen anything in your luggage can contact the TSA office to get a claim form. The form should be mail to the address that is on the form as instructed.

But as far as making anyone drink a baby’s formula to prove anything is just plain ridiculous. In this case the police of the airport should be contacted immediately. The TSA have guidelines which those agent have to follow. Any suspicious behaviors from any TSA agent should be reported either to the TSA office or the police. Whatever is not allowed on the plane should be written on a conspicuous post notice. If any one have those prohibited items, then, that person should give to some relative present that item to save keep. If no relative is present you loose the item to the prohibition.
