Is The U.S. Funding Syrian Revolution Or Future Terror Attacks?

Since 2010, when the upheaval in the Mideast dubbed the Arab Spring began, the United States has been the friend of rebels seeking regime change in countries throughout the region. In some cases, that meant providing weapons to rebels as well as reportedly conducting clandestine U.S. military operations.

In recent months, evidence emerged that al-Qaida has taken advantage of the U.S.-backed chaos in the Mideast and North Africa to gain allegiance in the aftermath of regime changes. When the Arab Spring initially began, al-Qaida was believed to be strongest in Pakistan. But policy analysts point to the rash of violent protests at U.S. embassies in Cairo and in Yemen and the attack that took the life of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens in Benghazi, Libya, as evidence of a proliferation of al-Qaida-initiated terror.

Last week, Secretary of State John Kerry announced that the United States was prepared to provide $60 million in aid to opposition groups working to oust Syrian President Bashar Assad. That money will be in addition to $50 million already provided to the rebels to help them organize, as well as $385 million distributed to Syria and neighboring countries for humanitarian relief.

U.S. officials are reluctant to arm Syria’s rebels; the influx of monetary aid comes at a time when the United States and other outside nations have lost leverage over the Syrian opposition forces and radical Islamist groups like al-Qaida are gaining support among the rebel fighters. There is concern from some that the aid money could be making its way into the hands of terror groups.

A NATO researcher explained last week why the growing al-Qaida presence is cause for concern, saying Syria’s uncertain future could make it a top al-Qaida stronghold.

“It’s now clear that Syria is not undergoing a violent transition from one regime to another,” noted NATO researcher Jean-Loup Samaan. “In fact, the country is enduring a process of disintegration of its state structures. Planners for a post-Assad Syria are no longer eyeing the potential successors of Assad but [are looking] at the bewildering landscape of non-state actors that fight each other over the conquest of what will be eventually left of the Syrian state.”

Iranian Revolutionary Guard commander Massoud Jazayeri urged U.S. officials to rethink support of Syrian opposition forces earlier this month, warning that terror groups have gained heavy control of opposition forces.  He warned that the al-Qaida mission, such as it is, will lead to the armed rebels continuing their terrorist activities in the other countries, including the West, in the near future.

“The al-Qaida groups and those services which conduct their operations in line with the U.S. interests will soon change track of their operations to other places and they will cause new troubles for the U.S. and Europe henceforth,” Jazayeri said.

Funny wasn’t it these very people that were “complaining” about President Bush’s attempts to seek regime change in countries in that region?

The Project for the New American Century is a non-profit educational organization dedicated to a few fundamental propositions: that American leadership is good both for America and for the world; and that such leadership requires military strength, diplomatic energy and commitment to moral principle.

I think that the term “being friends” is being used rather loosely here Vicky.

Humanitarian efforts does not constitute a friendship anymore then absence of war constitutes a peace.

The human needs are great in Syria today for most of her people on both sides and the ones caught in between.

America , like the rest of the world would like to see an end to the carnage, aid the human suffering. ~ Will our efforts be used against us? Most likely, ~ if history affords us a view into the future.

As for what the CIA is doing ~ there is no telling ~ I doubt if the Executive Branch understands the full extent of CIA activity. ~ As there is no “Off and On” switch for international intelligence gathering irregardless of what you have been told or what you might believe. It’s a deadly game and secrets are it’s stock and trade. It often takes years to cultivate human resources and gain position and access. ~ While Presidents come and go.

Contrary to popular belief, ~ the Presidential office is on the “Need to Know” list with select intelligence agencies just like everyone else.

So who is running the show you might ask, ~ Well? “You don’t need to know” and until you do, you won’t. Let’s just say, that it’s people that are willing to die with their secrets and unless you too are committed as such ~ you and I will never know.

Yes! there are shadow governments ~ and that is where they will stay , in the shadows. It’s nothing new ~ but very old. ~

All you need to know is that it’s not Obama idea.

Very few if anyone disputes that. The question is what other activities is the CIA engaged in? Directly supplying weapons to rebel groups? Giving money to rebel groups that can/will be used to purchase weapons? Targeted assasinations of government leadership? and so on.

Vicki, It all started back when we attacked Afganistan To try and shut down Al Quida, Only trouble is the Govt and CIA did not know just how well Al Quida was formed. At the time we were interested in protecting Saudi Arabia and the royal family, Our only Airbase in the area,.Which we also use to help protect Israel. Then BUsh wanted to take out SH in Iraq for Daddy Bush which they failed to do over Kuwait. So we got involved by invading Afganistan then Iraq. Our CIA did not understand how well Al Quida was intermixed in all the Arab Countries and around the World, Al Quida was formed with not One leader but many, and all can be replaced as one falls, You can see how they are working in our Arab friends Countrys, And will continue, No way we can fight wars around the world and think we can win. Afganistan and Iraq we will have to keep Military men and Airpower in these Countries for ever. And with our economy as it is will soon do as we did to Russia, They will spend us into major trouble. As we are in trouble now with Iran, Korea, And also china, WE have started a conflict around the world that is almost impossible to get out of. Americas govt is in trouble which will end up in the peoples hands to defend this Country like never before. SO Americans you had better be prepared to defend your Country.

We didn’t have one in the White house along with muzzie-administrators.

Our two parties aren’t that different. Both try to control their own party, their nation and their world. The operative word is “their”. Watch Ethos and consider the radical idea that the American people are being Played by both sides. As consumers in a “free” society we can make a difference by carefully choosing what we eat. That includes food, ideas and our representatives at the local, state and fed levels. One example: Is the debt we owe serious? Debt can be just another form of addiction or slavery.

Say what you want but when Mubarak in Egypt and Assad in Syria were in control, muslims were held down to obey the country’s laws, applied equally to everyone. Now that the US has supported revolutions in these countries, they are now or will be muslim countries. This is of Obama’s workings, supporting his musllim brotherhood.

    • MexicansaysLibtardsRPukes

That’s a problem! We should stay out of this Period! Let the Sunni & Shiites Whack each other off Just like the Mafia used to whack each other off! Obama gave two Terrorist organization Al Qaeda & Muslim Brother hood in Egypt & Libya a foot hold in these countries! Obama will make a 3 peat with Syria! Screw the Middle East It’s their problem not ours! We need to drill our own oil in US instead of buying foreign oil! Oh I forgot the clowns in Gov’t won’t let us! I like Made in the USA Product Logo! How about Oil drilled in the USA logo, When we buy gas!

  • Walter77777

When there is uprising in a country USA might do very well to try to figure out whether the uprising will be successful and to support the rebels if it expects them to win.

For example if USA had recognized that the commies were destined to win in China after WWII we might have not supported the nationalists and not have gotten so much anger from the commies. Col. Evans Carlson, USMC (of Carlson’s Raiders’ fame) was telling us this for the last years of his life after WWII, and if we had listened we might have had far better relations with China and possibly saved the lives of many of our men in Korea.

In Syria it has been fairly obvious that the rebels will overthrow Assad since his men are far more interested in staying alive than are the rebels, and it was fairly plain that it was only a matter of time before the rebels win. we might have done well to have supported them from the time when their ultimate victory was apparent./

Remember Walter, their main goal is the virgins in never-never land. They want to die, die and die. They were sold a Koran nugget idea and they bought into it.

    • Chuck S

So we should have supported Hitler, because it was obvious that he was going to come to power? If the uprising is bad guys, we shouldn’t support them., Maybe we should warn the people in Syria that the rebels may turn out worse than Assad.

From The Constitution of The United States:

Article II Section 1. Before he enter on the Execution of his Office, he shall take the following Oath or Affirmation:- “I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

Article II Section 4. The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

From Webster’s New World Dictionary of the American Language “complete reference edition”:

treason: 1. betrayal of trust or faith; treachery 2. violation of the allegiance owed to one’s sovereign of state; betrayal of one’s country, specif., in the U.S. (as declared in the Constitution), consisting only in levying war against the U.S. or in giving aid and comfort to its enemies.

(or in giving aid and comfort to its enemies). What does this mean?

treachery: 1. betrayal of trust, faith, or allegiance; perfidy, disloyalty, or treason 2. an act of perfidy or treason.

allegiance: 2. the obligation of support and loyalty to one’s ruler, government, or country.

( refer back to Article II Section 4. and the subsequent definitions.)

Article III Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
The Congress shall have Power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attained.

Why is our congress ignoring this?

Pay your taxes, support (with a jock strap) your mus-slum el’presidenture Obee and you have just aided the enemy to help you enjoy your socialistic-life on American soil. It is starting to be recognized by our brain-dead mainline media mugs that Obee might be telling little white-lies. Wow, would that be a predjudiced move on the part of Obee? No, he wouldn’t do that. He will have Joey 2- shot bite-me explain it to you libs that adore “the messy-iah” el’presidenture. Those tax dollars will feed the families of the bro-hood that will make them strong and educate them on our hand-over weapontry so that they use them against us. Figure that our only hope is Israel that has the guts to take them mid-east idiots out that we fed with our tax dollars. Keep on working libs if you have a job. Forget supporting yourself, the Gov. will be you sugar-daddy.

It should be remembered that Senator McCain was very vocal in demanding that the Obama administration send arms to the Syrian “rebels”. McCain stated that Obama’s reluctance to do so weakened the image of America around the world. The President insisted that he was unsure who the rebels actually were and was not going to send them weaponry. As it turns out the rebels are fundamentalist Muslim radicals who have already said their next target would be Israel. We all want the Assad regime swept away but the President was very wise to hold back support from an unknown quantity.
