Is Judge Sotomayor A Secret Right-Winger?

August 7, 2009 by

Is Judge Sotomayor A Secret Right-Winger?

Is Judge Sonia Sotomayor really a secret right-winger? Wait! Before you decide I’m a stark-raving lunatic, hear me out.

What if you knew absolutely nothing about Barack Obama’s first appointment to the United States Supreme Court except what she said during her testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee?

Just for a moment, pretend you’d never heard her remark about how “a wise Latina woman” might dispense better justice than a white male who didn’t share her “life experiences.”

Forget about any past verdicts regarding racial quotas in Connecticut or favoritism for minorities. Ignore her outspoken support of the openly racist organization, La Raza. Pretend you didn’t know President Obama said he appointed her because of her much-vaunted “empathy.”

In fact, assume for a moment you didn’t even know she was nominated for the nation’s highest court by Barack Obama.

No, the only thing I want you to consider today is what she said in her sworn testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

I submit, ladies and gentlemen of the jury, that if all you knew about Judge Sotomayor’s beliefs and likely decisions was what she told that panel of U.S. Senators, you would have to conclude that she will be one of the strictest constructionists the Supreme Court has ever seen.

Why, if you judge the judge by what she said—and remind you, ladies and gentlemen, that she swore under oath to tell the truth—she’s going to be so far to the right that Clarence Thomas could use her for shade.

Consider: The very first thing the lady did when she began her testimony was to throw the man who nominated her under the bus. Use “empathy” to decide a case? Not on your life, Senators. The most important thing to be considered—in fact, the only thing that matters—is what the law says.

What about that “wise Latina woman” comment, Judge? It was a terrible choice of words, your honorables. I regret ever saying it. Why, I don’t even believe it. It was just a “rhetorical flourish.”

You’ve got to admit; whoever vetted the lady prior to her testimony did a fantastic job. I didn’t hear her make a single misstep. Did you?

Yes, the White House handlers who prepped her and primed her and spent all those hours rehearsing her had everything down pat, including the decision to distance herself from the man who nominated her. They did a splendid job. The Democrats were so proud they were bursting their buttons. Even the Republicans found almost nothing to fault.

There is only one problem with the whole sorry charade: It was all a lie.

Let’s face it: Our first Latina nominee, the Honorable Judge Sonia Sotomayor, was carefully rehearsed not to tell the truth, but to tell the Senators (and through them the American public) a carefully calculated falsehood. In fact, a whole series of them.

As the senior Republican on the panel, Sen. Jeff Sessions of Ala., said in a USA Today op-ed piece, “Judge Sotomayor’s attempt to rebrand her previously stated judicial approach was, as one editorial page opined, ‘uncomfortably close to disingenuous.’” My, wasn’t he being diplomatic.

In other words, the lady stretched the truth so far, it almost snapped. Had anyone on the panel pushed her a little harder, who knows what we might have heard? But there were no profiles in courage on Capitol Hill that week.

So now we have the remarkable spectacle of seeing our leaders, from the President on down, praise a person whose every statement was a deliberate deception. A splendidly rehearsed deception, I’ll grant you. But a deception nonetheless.

And because she did her job so well, on Thursday she received a lifetime appointment to the highest court in our land.

The entire spectacle was a fraud. To be absolutely and totally honest about it—something Judge Sotomayor was forbidden to do—her entire testimony was carefully and cleverly planned so she would reveal nothing about what she believed or what she will do, once she’s a member of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Welcome to a world, ladies and gentlemen, where the lying liars who lead us are not only shameless about their duplicity … they are proud of it!

Shame on everyone who participated in this odious charade, from the schemers in the White House to their sycophants on Capitol Hill. Of course, none of it would be possible without the eager acquiescence of their puppets in the press.

But shame on the rest of us, too. We also remain silent, bleating contentedly as we’re fed this preposterous pabulum. Once again the sheeple are about to get sheared. And I have to say, more in sorrow than in anger, maybe we deserve it.

Until next time, keep some powder dry.

She lied one way or another as she blatantly contridicted herself time and time again. What a shame that Congress takes more interest in baseball players lying about steroids than a Supreme Court nomonee lying about her beliefs. The GOP is getting blamed as racist because they voted against a Latino. The GOP is not again minorities, but values. Propogating the extreme left wing immorality on our nation’s highest court, bringing in preconceived biases against any race to render a decision, or to have empathy for a criminal because of his/her problematic background is a disgrace to the laws of our land. Lady Justice is blind, only looks at the facts of the case presented to her. Truly not much change as a liberal replaces a liberal. Only this liberal is more blatant when she is not under oath. It should be an interesting life appointment to observe. It is to late to rescue the mistake as she is above the law now. As to the person who nominated her, where was he born?

    • Liz Lewis

      oops, against.

      • outspoken2

Our Congress regardless of which house and which party are completely nauseous and lack the necessary Backbone to stand up and say “NO” to B.O. and all of his lackey lapdogs. It’s a wonder the members of congress can stand at all, being they have no skeleton at all to support their putrid rotting carcasses in which the stench fills the air with an odor worse than the smog in the Los Angeles area of California.

    • American Citizen

I don’t know if those 100 Senators did any research on her. They should have known she was coached. The fact that she was reversed in 60% of her decisions should have been a warning that she is unfit to sit on the Supreme Court. I don’t care what nationality she is, or her color, religion, or gender. It’s her beliefs when it come to the law that matter. I don’t recall that she mentioned she would look at the Constitution. Isn’t that the main purpose of the Supremes, to see if what is brought before them is Constitutional, even the law itself? We are bit by bit losing our Constitution and it’s the bleeding-heart Liberals who are ripping it to shreds.

      • http://aol Don

When has the supreme court ever used the constitution as a guide?

        • s c

There is no other way to say this. READ A GOOD HISTORY BOOK. During FDR’s reign, when the Supreme Court had a backbone and a moral compass, they put that old so-and-so in his place. They told him in no uncertain terms that what he was trying to pull was UNCONSTITUTIONAL. B O wants to be FDR II.
Look it up. Now, we have charlatans who use want to ‘engineer’ America. They are a disgrace to the legal profession. The only thing that held FDR back from having total control over America was his reluctance to align himself with those stinking progressives. Even he knew that too much crap is too much crap.
If we had a functional Supreme Court and a handful of practicing, functional lawyers, b o would find himself to be in the same ‘uncomfortable,’ humiliating position as FDR. God help us, as this Supreme Court is on its way to becoming a fickle, limp-wristed collection of brown-nosing, fence-sitting puppets.

      • KS Ruff

        Folks,
If you haven’t already done so, you can get involved and the movement that is happening to force the Gov to adhere to the consititution or be removed. The Constitution provides for this. Go to and learn about the things that people all around you are doing. Get involved by becoming a nominee to the Continental Congress 2009 or nominating someone you know. There is even a free tri-fold brochure you can download and print that you can give people.

Also, be sure to join a group of The 9 12 Project by signing up for There are groups in every state. Groups are planning events. A major event coming up is the September 12 march on Washington, but believe me, it won’t end there. We will take back our country from the evil that has invaded us or die trying.

The longest journey begins with the single step. Unfortunately for us, that concept works in a negative as well as a possitive way. We have been allowing the government to rob us of our freedoms in the name of policy for generations. Each time they made some new rule about what we could or couldn’t do, could or couldn’t say, they took a little more freedom, and we got used to it and looked the other way. But every step brought them closer to our very homes, and now they are literally on our front steps. Every house in the country is getting GPSd (it has already happened in our area), and the information is being sent to the UN. WHY? We are surrounded by an evil so pervasive and invasive and yet subtle, that the complete loss of ALL our freedom may be only a few months away if Americans don’t wake up and act.

And pray. The book that served as a guiding principle to our founding fathers says “if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 At the time the prophet of old said these words, the people of Israel were suffering terrible persecution and slavery at the hands of a conqueror. It’s not too late for us.

I am a member of the 9.12 coalition and a member of We the People Foundation. I am also looking for people who want to be a part of a nationwide prayer chain for the purpose of having people praying around the clock for those who are working to turn this country around and for the few Congressmen who would actually do the right thing if given a chance…such a McCain, Jim DeMint, Ron Paul and more. We can yet turn this country around, but the evil around us is greater than we are in spite of our numbers which are growing daily. We cannot do it without turning to God first. Denomination and Party do not matter. What does matter is that you believe that a higher power than all of us is still on the throne, and that he is capable of saving this great country if we will only turn to him, take action wherever possible, and learn from the mistakes of the past.

Forgive the length of this “comment.” I can’t help but be passionate about this. I am a “military mom,” with a family history of military service and my heart is breaking over what is happening to this great land that so many died to preserve.

        • American Citizen

I, too, am a military mom as we have a son who served as well as my husband did. I am very frightened by the ignorance I see, not only by some posters here, but in the population in general. The liberals think because you are conservative you are ignorant. To them, facts don’t matter, it’s feeling that they operate their lives upon. That’s why this country is in such trouble as the road to hell is paved with good intentions instead of common sense.

        • Greg Craig

Dear military mom. thank you. Never be apologetic for saying what is in your heart. I am a former Marine you fought against communism in Viet Nam. People forget so easily. Joe McCarthy another former Marine was right. My heart is shattered at the outcome facing our beloved nation. May God protect us all and keep us safe and at peace. I pray for a peaceful resolution but stand steadfastly prepared for the alternative solution. Pitbullusmc

Really stretching it aren’t you, (60%) she was overturned 3 times while an appellate judge, far less than most. What a liar you are, I suppose when you hate stretching the truth is a lot easier.

Not in the record you didn’t, probably on some conservative hate site or literature , they are full of these type of lies.

If you had been listening to FOX news, you would have found out what a dimwit she was. I think your are very arrogant and also very stupid and ignorant. I’ve just come to realize you don’t know anything about what’s going on in this world. Do you even know who the president is?

    • Runninbear

Right on!I Does anyone have to know anymore than she has already shown.just look up her records and decisions.Obama is doing this to lock up the espandic vote(La RAZA),he won’t be satisfied with one term.he’ an egomantic, and all his decisions fromTim gethner(whohas been cheating on his taxes, who is steering this train wreck economy,toEric Holder, releasing the black panthers from jail, for obvious voters fraud, without even a trial or fine.and now The Race?Who believes that the USA should be divided and returned to the espandic race and rename it Aztundland, the misticial place before the whiteman, We can look forward to more court reverseals like the firefighters.Hey!I’m for blacks having a chance but she deinied one of her own, because there were no blacks who even passed that test and a man that was white who even I could tell he had over come more problems than any person taking the test would of had a head start on him but, through his dedication, studing, had over come and passed the same tests everyone else ,and she ruled against them?which was reversed.Im embarrassed our Senators couldn’t have put up a better fight than what I saw? they just kicked a little dust in the air,let her go.This was a life time appointment and they would have done they duty to push her beyond the rehortic that she had been programed with even before we heard her name.It seemed like lawyers who know to never ask a question without knowing the answer? This Q/A were answers that was text book.Everyone I hear says Obama is great orator, but he uses his teleprompters,I heard Obama even set them up in a rodeo arena for a 5 minute spot.I still have to ask what is worth spending that much money to hide?a 12 dollar doucment, when they have proof that he was enrolled as a Muslim and had to have a goverment issued ID card which only Indonesian citizens was suppose to have had, they had to have them on their person and on file at their school. This is undenable proof he is a “Dual citizen”Why hasn’t anyone ask him about this.

      • DaveH

        Runninbear,
It doesn’t surprise me a bit that the Senators didn’t ask many tough questions. Also, one would think that the Republicans would return the favor by using the same filibuster tactics that the Democrats used on Republican Supreme Court nominees. The fact is that the Senators with rare exception have enjoyed their jobs for too long and we who love freedom need to vote the rascals out of office.

        • BH

Republicans could not filibuster. Democrats have the 60 votes necessary to end debate.

        • DaveH

          BH,
Thank you. I didn’t realize that there are that many Democrats in the Senate. So I went to the senate web page and counted them.

Obama says he can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Is he sure it isn’t a freight train?

Liz, most adults see this woman for who she is. Our ‘leaders’ were told they will be ‘rewarded’ for their votes. That means they don’t represent us. They are there to take care of themselves. These pukes have 17 different insurance options [they want us to have one].
Any lib who considered ‘defecting’ was told they can forget about the next election. They were told if they have any plans for getting on key committees, they’d better support this woman. This is how Washington is defined (be prepared to sell your ^** on the spur of the moment). Some call it integrity. Most recognize it as a form of treason.
Let me make this crystal clear, Liz. Any American who thinks a Washington politician deserves to be re-elected is guilty of the same stupidity that made it possible for b o to get into the White House. Why make it easy for these two-legged skunks? When we suffer from lack of leadership, it’s because we have no standards for those who control our lives.

      • cr747

S C what else could you expect from the idiots that we got running the country? I just hope people remember this when election time comes around, and we VOTE all these idiots out who think they can’t be replaced. When we vote in the people for the people, then we can get O-BAM-BAM OBAMA impeached from the presidency. He’s not even an American. He won’t even show the people his Birth Certificate. At least not yet. He’s probably trying to come up with one to show. I say it’s to late to show it now, he needs to be thrown out of the White House now. This SotoMoto has lied from day one. Saying all the things that O-BAM-BAM OBAMA wanted her to say. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND I HAVE HAD ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As we seem to continue in the no God and no real Constitution idiology we see that our Nation, by financial facts is caught in a trap. If we want to bail out and make it look good, we need to borrow more and more against the dollar and print more! The solution is not to bail out and pay off the heads of cooperations that fail.. sure, we can give to the cooperation to get them viable, but to payoff those that lead them into this mess? What the heck is going on. Should I be rewarded for leading any company into dismay? Is this how Obama got elected and other Democrats, to give away tax money to those that were poor leaders of companies? We do not hear any big objections from the Senate or House if Democrat.. Another payoff? I will make a prediction. All we need is a few big money taking occurences that happen in America and we will surely be bankrupt. It is predicted in the Bible and this is why the endtimes prophecy does not mention America again, except that England and the U.S. will have bread selling for about 33 bucks a loaf, U.S.! World History is not taught as it was because of what one says is hate! We do not see Greece collapsing because of anything goes sex by law! We do not see this with Rome and what happened there. But it did! Any Nation that supports anything goes sex, and specifically made laws supporting alternate lifestyles were destroyed by an enemy! That is real World History before we could not present the facts as it may be considered a hate crime.

      • http://aol Don

33 bucks a loaf? Did the Bible say if the loaf would be sliced, whole, wheat, or white. Probably, white. Usually wheat is more expensive, so when wheat hits 33, I know to sell and pack up and go to Mount Carmel where He (the Second Coming) said he would pitch his tent. See you there. lol

sc, do you think bush’s secret police is or should be constitutional? Do you think Obama will have his secret police or maybe you feel he already has them?

  • http://kibitzer-truthseeker.blogspot.com Stan

Thanks for this, Chip. I must say, you got my attention with your title of the article…

Unfortunately, it’s all not funny, McGee. We have somehow descended into game-playing in the country. Conservatives – true conservatives – and constructionists try to hold the line on the proper use of the word ‘interpretation’ regarding the Constitution – ie, with ‘original intent’ to the fore; or else it is all so blatantly a relativistic political game that we should all go home, and declare the rule of law dead in the country – and liberals have introduced the concept of ‘a living document’ into the picture; the contract to be tweaked from the pov of personal socio-political proclivities. It’s a charade, that we all seem to buy into. Well; not all. But as Chip says, the sheeple are about to be sheared again. And the Republicans in the guvmint don’t have the intestinal fortitude to mount a response worth a warm bucket of spit.

Where are the right-side voices like the one raised by Ted Kennedy against the nomination of Judge Bork, he who knew whereof he spoke regarding constitutional issues? Sidelined. Why? Because of fear of coming out against a wise Latina woman, and hence laying themselves out vulnerably to be smeared, and thus not returned to the gravy train??

It’s a disgrace. Judge Sotomayor gave herself away when she slipped up and got caught on video saying, honestly from her liberal pov, to a roomful of legal types, that the appellate court “is where policy is made”. (‘Oh-oh. You may live to regret that slip, Sonia.’ ‘No, not really. It’s all a matter of who controls the processes at the time. She knows that. We know that. It’s all just part of the game.’) Her nomination should have been ditched into the ground right then and there. Instead, both sides are playing the game, that the Constitution is just a damn piece of paper, existing merely to be gotten around, by hook or by crook.

    We will rue this day.

    • http://aol Don

During her testimony, do you know what her answer was for “where policy is made?”

      • http://kibitzer-truthseeker.blogspot.com Stan

        No. What was it?

        • http://aol Don

She said something to the effect that it was a dumb girl wise crack. It was meant to be funny. Kind of like when my wife teases me about woman being superior to men. The conservatives used this humorous statement, took it seriously, and ran with it, saying she will make law and not use the constitution as law. I will give her the benefit of doubt, by I know conservatives will not, except for Graham and the few republicans that voted for her.

        • http://kibitzer-truthseeker.blogspot.com Stan

          Don,

Thanks for your reply and its info. You may be right. But considering the picture as a whole, all I can think of to say right now is: Well, she would say that, wouldn’t she?

          Anyway: Let’s see.

        • DaveH

          Stan,
Did you see the video of that statement? She definitely was not making a “dumb girl wise crack”. She did realize as soon as she said it that she was not making a correct statement and made comments to try and wiggle out of it. Gee, she wouldn’t lie to the Senate would she? Lawyers are always honest! Sure.
Here is the video of that statement, see for yourself:

So…when was it ok to nominate criminals, liars, and cheaters? As far as I’m concerned, our so called leaders…aka dictators, don’t care about the Constitution. They use the term to appease but blatantly reject it. They think they deserve power when they don’t, and they use evil to get it. Thankfully they aren’t the ultimate judge, as Jesus is King over all, if they like it or not. And if you disagree with me, that is your choice and your right. It doesn’t change it though.

    • http://aol Don

        • Phil

          not a problem.

    • http://google Virgil

You are absolutely right! The lie that minorities were prevented from being citizens was the Constitutions fault is totally a lie. It gave the rights and insisted on them. The Communists and Atheist are promoting that lie. It was the Supreme Court that refused African Americans citizenship! They ruled, after Abe Lincoln, a Republican, that Africans were not persons and therefore could not become citizens. We look at what these judges believed and find they were the first of the major Liberals! Now we see that Congress and the Senate, occupied by a majority of Liberals, will tell you what is morally right or wrong and support one group over another group and tell you if this is not done with citizens support, that we are into hate crime? Does any white; Asian; American Indian; or any of our citizens not want equal rights for all? Sure we do. But that is not what the Liberal want.. and we can tell by what bills they support and vote on. Virgil

Virgil Reply: August 7th, 2009 at 5:03 pm

Go back and read the original constitution before the first ten amendments were added, the original ratification of the constitution in 1787 and you will see that it was your founding fathers who refused the African Americans citizenship and legally made them slaves under the constitution , even made it constitutional to still import them as slaves until 1808. The supreme court interpreted it as it was written, so after Lincoln that is why the constitution was amended to give them citizenship. You people that scream and holler about the Constitution not being followed have no idea what it is and misquote in constantly just as the lies you have in your post here. Judges do not make the law only interpret it, but conservatives want judges to be activists and rule the way they want not as the constitution says and your ignorance and biases convicts you of that here.

  • Brant Robinette

I like the title and how the first few paragraphs are about how these deceivers at least SHOULD try to act if they had any personal resolve and integrity, instead of cowering behind lies and rehearsed trickery. They wouldn’t have a leg to stand on either way, but at least if they had tried to make us be ok with their pick for Sotomayor by telling us to just forget that we ever heard the things she’s said and done (which make her who she is, mind you) then they could do so with some strange sense of still retaining respect for themselves.

It’s quite apparent to anyone who gives a half-seconds moment to try to think about what they’ve seen from the progressives rule in this country for the last year or more what the real truth is. Unfortunately, more than 60% of the population could care less about how the country is ran, who is in office, or future plans so this truth escapes the majority. The biggest flaw of liberty is that opponents of liberty have found that they do not particularly need members of their movement to promote and advance it, they simply need inactive members of society. So for every one citizen fighting and voicing for liberty and freedom there are at least ten others who could care less about anything political (and in turn are actually promoting the side of oppression without knowing it). And rational, logical voices does not have the power to counter-balance this. Those who will do liberty harm know this, and they will use this to further their agenda. Any OTHER action that could counter-balance this is far more violent, and those who would do liberty harm also know this and will plan to use their same actions against the whole of society that still values liberty and freedom.

The problem is, those in Congress pay no attention to “us”. I want to know the names of those who voted for her and those who didn’t. Unfortunately, I read this morning that both of our state’s Senators voted for her. You can bet I’ll work against them come the next election.

A C, you can bet that the scum who voted for that woman sold themselves, and they also mysteriously found ‘reasons’ to support b o’s health care ‘reform’ scam. These puking weasels are on ‘summer recess.’ NOW is the time to let them know that their days in Washington are numbered. It’s also a great time to create legislation that will deny career politicians a plush retirement and high odds that they will be millionaires when they retire. Isn’t it high time for these worthless lower-life forms to sacrifice for America? Why do we let this insanity continue?

I agree about our 2 senators. Democrats desgized as Republicans!!!!! And to think I helped campaign for one of them when she first got elected. I am ashamed to tell of it!!! I will be with you working against them.

      • DixieConnie

Thank God 2 Senators from Texas voted against her. Yea for them.

        • http://aol Don

For 8 years they didn’t listen to me either. I voted for change and now they do listen to me. I’m sure you will get your way in the near future. People in general do not like politicans. Look at the recent pattern. We get sick of our current leader no matter who it is. I got sick of gB after the first day if not sooner, and I’m sure you feel the same way, now, but will express it differently than “sick of.”

        • DixieConnie

Don: there is such a difference between being sick of and being SCARED. I believe there are alot of people that are scared to death of what is happening. I don’t think we are suppose to be afraid of our President.

  • http://w7sav.net Steve V.

Judge Sonia Sotomayor’s hearings and all the trappings was just a rubber stamp pre-decided forgone fact of her acceptance to the Supreme Court…

The power being raked in by the Executive and Legislative branches at tax payer expense is alarming.. We have about 40 Czars appointed who have control over major areas of our lives and are not funded nor overseen by Congress . We now have another liberal Judge on the Supreme Court to run interference for the other two branches of government as this liberal controled government pushes ever closer to their goals… The Constitution has been used as ‘Toilet Paper’ for decades by both parties… It is only quoted when it serves to push party goals.. Otherwise it is ignored or changed to fit those goals.. The GOP is dead, it has lost all creditability, it has more turncoats than Saddam Hussein had during the first Gulf war… The Democrat Party that once championed the working class has become ileitis who stab the workers in the back at every chance to gain control over them…

The only thing to save this nation will be a return to a Constitutional Government.. We need a party that recognizes this and will work toward that goal and what is best for America over party politics..

    • http://aol Don

I like what you said about both parties. I even had to look up ileitus in the dictionary. Your last paragragh will take some time. Steve what is your perspective, if I might ask, about the time when the supreme court voted on Gore and Bush. The 5 justices that were nominated by republicans voted for Bush and the 4 justices that were nominated by democrats voted for Gore. Do you think this is “Justice at it’s best?” Don’t get into the correct person won or lost, but rather than procedure. Also, do you feel that presidents should pick the person for the supreme, and the congress votes for him/her?

      • http://w7sav.net Steve V.

Thanks for your response and the “ileitus” bowel problem was a typing error.. I was looking for the word meaning high society, power brokers types..
I think the Supreme Court should have term limits being one of the three branches of Government that does not have it… I believe they should be chosen by the people during a Presidential election… Just like the other two branches of government. I hate this because it does require a Constitutional amendment. And I HATE changing the Constitution.. I believe all Supreme Court hearings should be televised on its own network paid for by taxpayers to let us view the workings and arguments being presented…

      • American Citizen

The decision was the correct one telling Gore’s team they had to abide by Florida’s election laws.

        • Smilee

Isn’t it interesting that the Florida supreme court ruled that Gore’s team had and then the supreme court intervened and overturned the state, isn’t it interesting that the conservatives who so strongly support state’s rights on this one were so happy not to.

    • DaveH

      Steve,
There is such a party, the Libertarian Party.

      • PatM

        Yep!

      • http://w7sav.net Steve V.

Yes, as an Independent, I have been looking also at the Constitution Party..

        • DaveH

          Steve,
Please read my post reply to Don’s reply to you. He is wrong about his Libertarian statements.

      • http://aol Don

Steve, Bill Maher is a Libertarian. He said the main difference between a Libertarian and a Republican is their view on drugs. Libertarians, accordingly to Bill, feels the government should control the drugs rather than the “gangs’ of the world, but this is not an issue right now, so the next president can open up this can of worms. The people from Calf. will have the greater voice on this because this is their number one crop.

        • DaveH

          Don,
Are you like the master of misinformation or what? Yes, Bill Maher has stated that he is Libertarian, but his views are mostly not Libertarian at all. He makes me sick. Don’t know what his angle is for calling himself a Libertarian (maybe purposeful slander). Read the party platform on http://www.libertarianparty.org (pick the Our Party tab then platform from the drop-down list).
Libertarians (the real ones) don’t think the government should be involved in protecting us from ourselves. So, this includes drugs. This may sound scary, but it really isn’t because people are going to do the drugs whether or not the government is involved. Maybe even more so, as for many drug-users the illegality is part of the thrill. Mostly the problem with the drug wars, though, is that we are enriching the worst segment of society (the drug lords) due to the wildly increased street price resulting from the illegality of the drugs. So, we have a situation very much like during the prohibition days when the Mafia came to prominence. For those of you who say “OMG, everyone will become a drug junkee”, I ask, “are you going to become a junkee?”. Alcohol is legal, are we all alcoholics?
Bill Maher is an idiot. Go to the Libertarian Party website and see for yourself what they stand for.

      • http://aol Don

Dave, how am i a master of misinformation. He did call himself a Libertarian – how is this wrong? I never said he is a true Libertarian. How is this wrong? I quoted something he said – how is this wrong. I never said I agree with him – how is this wrong? I just gave his point of view. There is nothing wrong hearing what other people have said even though he might be a low life. I have learned from ignorant people, too. When I watched drunk people, I have learned something. I tell myself that I never want to lower myself like that. I learned something. Slow down your judgement.

        • DaveH

          Don,
OK, maybe you had no ill intentions. But it is a tactic of controlling people to spread misinformantion on a concept to mislead or divert potential followers of that concept.
A good example is when the Clinton administration sent economic advisors over to Russia who convinced the Russians that our brand of socialism was free enterprise. It works here only because we have tremendous assets built up from past times when we were close to free enterprise. Russia didn’t have that cushion of assets (and other conditions too lengthy to discuss in a short response), so it failed for them. As a result, most Russians thought free enterprise sucked when in fact they had never really experienced free enterprise. The Czechs (ignoring the advice of the Clinton advisors) adopted a form of economics that was much closer to free enterprise and they did great.
Anyway, if you had no such ill intentions, I apologize for jumping on you.

      • http://aol Don

Dave, a German professor told me, the Russian idea of democracy is when the majority votes to have an ethinicity eliminated, then that is the law and that group must be must extinguish. No one told them about a constitution and the branches of government.
One fact that most people don’t mention about the demise of Russia is vodka. They still start as a young teen consuming it.

  • ONTIME

There was more than enough information about Sotomayors involment with activist groups such as La raza, her written justification of her own actions for the court and there was her constant exposure of her veracity and the contradictions of her own inconsistent utterances about her beliefs for anyone to say, this woman has no loyalty to any segment of her own justification. This is why the empathy statement was so widely important and if it’s empathy you want then I would advise a country like Cuba would be more accomodating to rule by man.

We are stuck with her now, so far there may be change with no effect but that is endangerd also.

  • http://BobLivingston Susan

Unfortunately, even when we are not silent, it makes no difference. We have to face it. Nearly everyone that has anything to do with the White House, from our Senators, Representatives, all the way up to the Presidency are for themselves. Nearly everything we see now is staged for the public to make it look as if the government is still running right on schedule. NO~ It is no longer by the people and for the people. That day has passed.

    • DixieConnie

Susan: I know it seems very dark, however, go look at this http//www.rsc.price.house.gov. Maybe this will give you some hope. Rep. Tom Price of Georgia, also Senator John Cornyn of Texas, they seem to be on our side along with several others. We just don’t hear about them as much as we hear about the Dems &Libs.

    • DaveH

      Susan,
I wrote to my Democrat representative asking her to vote against Cap and Trade (in the House of Representatives) and she did. I’m not saying my letter made the difference, but apparently she got many similar requests, as she was one of a very small minority of Democrats who voted against that bill in the House.

  • Mike

    Dear Chip:
I usually like what you have to say. But….you are guilty of NOT doing, in this article, exactly what you say Sontomayer didn’t do in her testimony – you made NO statements of fact! Basically, your article is nothing more than your opinions.
I learned in Law School (a long time ago) that you must always back up your statements with facts! Yes, you are entitled to your opinions, but fact-finding IS essential when bringing out the truth about our “dog & pony show”, ponzi-scheming government & the International Bankers who REALLY control all of this bulls__t!!!

    • s c

If you made it through law school, were you a defense attorney? That woman made more than enough verifiable statements to convict herself via her own words. The ‘jury’ (Congress) was stacked and paid off, and the verdict was ‘in the bag.’ Please tell America you were not a prosecutor, Mike.

      • http://aol Don

I disagree with you on all opinions. I feel the problem was that she was smarter than each senator. Her answers left them hesitating too long. They didn’t know what to say back to her. If you think these senators are the smartest people in the world, then you can tell where to go.

        • s c

Your opinions are definitely yours. Thanks for reminding us that most people are smarter than 99.99% of those mirror-kissing basket cases in the Senate.
Anyone who hesitated after enduring her couched remarks did so in a polite attempt not to say what they were thinking.
You see, it’s hard to be tactful in public when pimped-out politicians stoop to openly deceiving and manipulating an ethnic group to destroy America from within. So much for gravitas, libs.
Beyond that, I could never see the Senate as a source of intelligence. Why would you accuse me of looking up to such a collection of defective minds?
Why do libs fear facts? How can they live with themselves? Most lib responses I’ve seen on this web site prove that my disgust for that nation-destroying philosophy is justified.
Across America, those who haven’t been brainwashed by that dung heap philosophy are realizing that turnabout is more than a word. Finally, the light of freedom is on the horizon. Sobeit!

    • http://aol Don

Mike, I agree with you, but I wll take it a step farther. From his last sentence, it sounds like his answer is to kill everyone that doesn’t agree with him? Mankind has been trying that for centuries. Also, it sounds like the KKK philosophy, but I know I will now receive a lot of hate back from this statement, because most people agree with Chip and there is about a 1% chance that he will reply.

  • Mike

You’re right Stan this is not funny at all. And Chip! What happen to this story? Why would you name it “Is Judge Sotomayor A Secret Right-Winger?” Maybe you should have titled it “LIAR!”

We’re screwed and the US is lost if the people don’t stand up and retake control. The longer we wait the harder it is going to be.

In my opinion we may be on the verge of blood. OURS!

  • Mike

  • John Q Citizen

Look on the bright side. Health care reform will likely get shoved down our throats, or up an alternate passageway; you decide. Medicare and Social Security reform a certain byproduct. As we approach our golden years, a time of reflection, a time to enjoy the years of diligence and moral rightness; we will all get kicked to the curb, die and this appointment will have had little time to influence our lives. Isn’t CHANGE what everyone wanted? Well, we got it…

    • http://aol Don

If we don’t change health, then we will become a nation that is bias towards the sick. Shoveling them to the curb, first, then us afterwards is not the answer.

      • John Q Citizen

I knew sooner or later someone would take the bait. Thanks, Don!

Health Care has nothing to do with healing. That’s not open to debate. If anyone even so much as opens debate on the subject they signify unparalleled naivety. The only change in health is what the medical profession defines as good health. Every change intended to promote drugs, tests and procedures. Each time a revised layer of responsible medicine is adopted a new avenue is opened to medical malpractice. The medical world has evolved in to a national lottery. Enormous malpractice settlements inequitably reward victims, the attorneys representing them ultimately driving the cost of health care through the roof. Patent laws and profit favor pharmaceutical companies stockholders; not the intended beneficiary. Elimination of long-term patents will foster collaboration while reducing the rush to relieve contrived ailments with drugs having greater life threatening risks than the ailment itself.

There are much better ways to address health care reform. Washington, as it has been said here numerous times already, needs to set aside their personal, financial and power interests in favor of a real solution. The problem is; the solution has to create expenditure to support money policy. Remember, the world is pegged to FIAT money.

        • http://aol Don

John, you got me. Thanks for your reply. What is FIAT? In certain ways you sound like a chiropractor, because their view on health is similar. If we do receive this “New Plan,” with no input from us, don’t you think they can change certains things when they see their mistakes or do you think everything will be written in stone or as you said, “personal, financial and power interests” will control everything? I think I answered my own question on what you will say.

        • Smilee

John Q Citizen Reply: August 7th, 2009 at 2:43 pm

YOU SAY–The only change in health is what the medical profession defines as good health

If not the the medical profession defining it, then who???? Lawyers??? Malpractice has not sent costs through the roof as you say, in fact it results in less that 2% or our countries total medical expenditures and a fraction of the 3rd payers profits to say nothing of the high cost of administration and a large part of that expense is hiring people to figure out how not to have to pay those who they insure. The medical profession by their own admission make dumb and other mistakes that result in law suits to recover the cost to their patients, at least 60% of the awards go to patients that without it would have to pay for the doctors mistakes themselves, there are some of us that still think this would not be right.

        • http://w7sav.net Steve V.

Health Care in America is broken.. It has been for a very long time… The days of a doctor dropping by your house and taking a chicken, pie or trade work for services is long gone.. What happened? Well, Ambulance chasers for one had unlimited Awards that can be made in justifiable and frivolous law suits and still has not been addressed. Second the FDA which once was the guardian for consumers has become the enforcer to Drug Companies and the AMA stopping natural remedies and cures from being advertised or sold in America.. It has stopped anyone from practicing Medicine on their own who is not a Full Fledged Doctor.. Ask any serviceman or woman who gives them the majority of their health care, it usually is a medic… In short over time we have been forced into being a captive market to a Medical Monster in the United States.. Government dictates who you can see legally for health care, what patented expensive drugs are available to you within our borders, required to pay what ever is asked for services medicines and supplies.. Currently Medical Cost is rising 4 times faster than wages…. Currently 8 out of 10 Medical Bills have errors on them in favor of the biller not the consumer… These errors would never be tolerated in any other service businesses, inflated charges, double charging, charging for services not given, or for supplies not used, or for items or services that are included in other billed areas are the normal way of serving the consumer by the American Medical establishment…. Any other business who did this would be under multiple investigations by Local, State and Federal agencies… Now for the medical insurance industry who are cutting coverage while increasing premiums while limiting access to the healthiest people… The profits of everyone in the Medical field. Doctors, Lawyers, Drug Companies the Medical Insurance Industry are all sucking the blood right out of us and Government has allowed them to for decades at an increasing rate. Socialized Medicine IS NOT THE ANSWER….. NOT, NOT, NOT.. All it does is put a different idiot bureaucrat in charge of what they will pay or not pay.. A government idiot brings along the added potential of far more reaching abuse by government.

          Now for what will work…

          1. Tort reform, limiting awards….
          2. Take the FDA out of the control of Drug Companies and the AMA.
          3. Hold Drug Companies answerable for even handed drug cost on par with that sold outside the United States.
          4. Open the door for Medical Practitioners who are trained and licensed at a lower level than a Doctor to care for minor injuries and minor illnesses. ( why hire a Electrical Engineer when all you need is a electrician)
          5. Open the US to holistic and Natural treatments and cures and licensed Holistic Healers. (80% of the world population does not depend on Western Medicine alone, we are forced to in America)
          6. Require Health Care Insurance Companies to accept all without prejudice of preconditions, age, job, race or income (see 7 ).
          7. Government can pay or partially pay insurance premiums of those who cannot afford insurance on a sliding scale that would come as a request from the insurance provider at time of consumers application..

KEEP GOVERNMENT OUT OF being both a provider and a overseer, a situation where abuse would have no bounds..

      • John Q Citizen

Hi Don. No, I’m not a member of the medical profession. I’m just an average John Q Citizen that teaches economics and finance, from time to time.

FIAT money is actually a part of a monetary system. Instead of a lecture, a good place to start, and it won’t cost a penny, would be (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_money).

It’s hard to say how long it would take or how much could be fixed once change occurs. But I do think you answered your own question. As unpredictable a Washington seems to be at times, the only predictable answers congregate around personal, financial and power interests. In my humble opinion Capitalism, to flourish, needs to balance regulation and deregulation. Where we can benefit the most would be regulating Washington.

        • http://aol Don

Thanks for your answer. I will look into FIAT.

    • DixieConnie

      Not everyone !!!!

      • John Q Citizen

Agreed, Connie…you are right, I should have said the majority wanted change. Regardless, the “not everyone” crowd has to suffer.

John Q Citizen: I don’t think that 56% is a large majority. Yea, I know it was enough to put him in office but I still have to believe it was rigged (someway or another). But you are right, we are suffering.

There are those that think they are much better off with him in office. Time will tell and I can see the tide is changing (oh no there’s that word again, change) yikes.

        • John Q Citizen

Good Lord, DC, please don’t get me started on RIGGED. I have to believe everyone struggles with the conspiracy demons once in a while. BO’s rise from unknown to Junior Illinois Senator to President is one of those topics where I fight the demons. Nobody and I mean nobody steals a Senatorial election, spends no time fulfilling his Senatorial duties, and announces a Presidential bid and WINS! Every time I try to wrap my mind around that one I pass out…

I e-mailed both of my states Senators and most of its Representatives asking them to vote against Sotomayer’s approval. The only problem was several of the representatives are Democrats, and you might a well be talking to a brick wall. Democrats don’t believe they answer to anyone except the party, and those who pay them off ! I will do my damnest to see that none of them have the opportunity to ignore their constitutients again after the next election, if they allow us to have one.

    • http://aol Don

I heard that the Rep. reps are the same way. Don’t they always say no, which shows they don’t listen to all sides.

      • Ron

I agree, it seems none of them pay any attention to how their constitutients feel about legislation before them, only what is good for their re-election. The reason I out pointed out the Democratic representatives from my state is because they were the only ones who supported Sotomayer. The Republicans representatives and senators voted against her.

    I have a question?????

I can see what is happening, but I want to know why. What is the end goal? What is gained by laying waste to america? What do they gain by making slaves out of us?

    And……

How do we get rid of the whole F#&^%$G bunch thats in washington and start over?
Can we shoot em? String em up? We the people?

    • http://aol Don

Chris, I get the feeling from most of the other countries in the world that there citizens feel the same way as you do about their officals. The elected officals of the world will keep their jobs by creating bogus wars. Our attention will be to fight, rather than getting honest people to represent us. It has been going on for years.

    • DaveH

      Chris,
Their goal is Power, plain and simple.
This country became the wealthiest nation on Earth, because it embraced individual freedom and limited government. We need to get back to those roots. This means voting only for those representatives that promise to roll back the size of government. Currently the two major parties are both growing the size of government ever larger.

      • DixieConnie

Isn’t that most of the problem? Voting only for those representatives that PROMISE to roll back the size of governemt? Haven’t we heard those promises before, only to have them broken over and over again? I wonder if there is a person alive that runs for Pres that will do what they say they will do. Doesn’t seem likely.

        • DaveH

          Dixie,
The only one I can remember who campained on a platform to roll back the size of government is Ronald Reagon. And in his first year he was a fireball. But of course the Democrats were all over him complaining that he was “cutting the government to the bone” (actually all he did was slow the growth of government). Then his own party members (Bob Dole in particular) started chastising him for not compromising enough. Compromise will never cut back on the size of government, it will only grow it more slowly. Anyway, Reagon finally succumbed to the pressure from his own party.
The Libertarian candidates are the only ones I hear these days promising to cut back on the size of government. But you’re right, how do we trust them to keep their word? I guess the only answer is to be vigilant and fire their raggedy butts if they don’t keep their promises. I have great hopes that the Internet will allow the common people to keep better track of their representatives than they have in the past when the only place they could get info easily was the biased major media.

        • DixieConnie

Well, then we keep plugging away at this and fire those b*****ds and get on with new one. Like, out with the old in with the new. I bet those folks are getting worried. I know I would be.

Good, then lets keep looking for the Libertarians to get us a good person to run and be Pres. Hopefully they will keep their word.

DaveH Reply: August 7th, 2009 at 2:40 pm

During our roots as you call them, it was power then too, not the goal of individual freedom that made slaves of some and stole everything from others, it was power and wealth then it is power and wealth now, Do not you find it interesting that this country was started by rich white men, for rich white men and low and behold as they did not have quite enough power to hold it for themselves and over time had to start sharing some power with blacks, Indians, women etc but it is still the large power structure that succeeds despite the power of all groups and it has nothing to do with individual freedom, today it is the corporate power structure that is in control and we all are suffering for that after they have caused this economy today. Why is it you think the corporations spend so terrible much money on lobbing if it was not to obtain power and wealth at our expense, we need balance and regulation and conservatives fight this tooth and nail.

        • DaveH

          Smilee,
Corporations can not force us to buy their products. Only with government as their bought and paid for bullys can they accomlish that. You liberals are playing right into their hands. The bigger and more complex the government gets, the more they can get away with aiding and abetting these big corporations. The difference between you and your ancestors Smilee, is that your ancestors were enslaved unwillingly. You are casting your freedom away voluntarily.

Corporations do not hold a gun to your head, but you quit today buying the products and services produced by corporations and you will see in a very short time that you are in fact their slaves, they have control of our government and thus control of you. They control the air waves, most of the food chain and most things you need to live a free life and you have little or nothing to say about it you definitely have need of their products. weather you want to admit it or not. They are the biggest recipients of your tax dollars, called corporate welfare. You see government got big because of corporations not because of liberals, liberals have as policy have always opposed that, however, many of the democrats in congress have become prey of them in addition the republicans and all conservative amongst them strongly support them and are the most guilty of this countries destruction (especially this past 30 years) and responsible for the slaves we have become to big corporations. The difference is liberals know this and fight for our freedoms and you conservatives are delusional with your eyes and ears closed with your head in the sand and believe in this big liberal conspiracy of them wanting to make government bigger while liberals are against the power of the corporations and for the power of the individual. You are delusional and think the corporations are your salvation when in fact they have become your masters and the government’s masters through their power over both. Liberals still want this country to be run by “We the People” and you conservatives want corporate world to be in control and to do so you have to pretend to be free and blame all our problems on those would cure them to protect your masters, usually in any slavery it is the cowards that kiss their masters butts, you seem like you would be good at that and you are delusional about government and how it is run and refuse to do anything but blame others for all our problems as you do not see your own defects and contribution to this big government/big corporations.

American citizen reply, I agree with your views. If they had bothered to check out her credentials they would have found that she is a top member in La Raza, which is a very racist organization trying to give illegal aliens all of the same rights in this country that we have for now. They would have also found that more than likely she is gay. She was married in 1976 I beleive it was. I don’t have all of my information with me rightnow but can get it later if you want to know more, naming names and such. She never lived with her husband and married him at a time when she got elected to her first bench. She divorced him a short time later. When she wanted a promotion she suddenly came up with a fiance who promptly disappeared after she acheived her goal. I feel that she will handle alot of gay rights cases even giving them marriage rights. She of course will be overturning all of our immigration laws and we will be handing over the candy store( America) to foreigners. The country will no longer belong to the U.S. citizens. We need to stay vigilliant and do everything that we can to stop the government from doing what they are trying to get done (destroy America). Let’s not let them succeed. Thank-you and God bless.

Socialism, communism and the facsist system all have their roots in statism. Statist doctrine hold the State as the supreme omnipotent power that must be obeyed at all costs. Individual thought and actions that are not approved by the State are treason.

Never confuse government and statism as government was for and by the people where the Statist concept uses the guise of government good intentions to enforce the golden rule of Statism. All laws and powers enacted by the government must increase the grip of the State upon the individual.

    Everyone,

No intent to diminish the significance of what’s happened here – but we need to look past the battle to the end game. All these skirmishes are orchestrated.

They’re nothing more than distractions from what is really going on. It’s obvious what’s up when you put aside the distractions and see through. Both sides of the aisle are working toward the same destination. Maybe some aren’t aware of it – but I’ll betcha most have a clue.

By taking personal needs and illusions out of the equation, it is possible to see very clearly what is on the drawing board. Don’t listen to what they say. Just watch what they do. Try it – you can’t miss what’s going on right under our noses.

In my opinion, Chris is asking the right questions. God help us!

Judge Sonia Sotomayor was involved in a bankruptcy fraud scheme, and she lied through omission on the questionnaire to the Senate Judiciary Committee to cover it up. So says volumes of evidence presented by Judicial Discipline Reform (JDR, see http://www.judicial-discipline-reform.org).

On the record, Dr. Richard Cordero, Esq., JDR attorney, states: “Judge Sotomayor earned $3,773,824 since 1988, plus received $381,775 in loans totalling $4,155,599, plus her 1976-1987 earnings, yet disclosed assets worth only $543,903 thus leaving unaccounted for in her answers to the Senate Judiciary Committee $3,611,696, minus taxes and the cost of her reportedly modest living and likewise withheld from it the DeLano Case, which reveals her participation in a cover-up of concealment of assets as part of a judicially run and tolerated bankruptcy fraud scheme.”

Dr. Cordero has been trying to get the seventeen members of the Senate Judiciary Committee to question Judge Sonia Sotomayor on these issues:

    1. The Committee’s questionnaire
    2. Judge Sotomayor’s answers to it and her conduct
    3. The docket of the DeLano case, 06-4780-bk, CA2
    4. Statistics of the Administrative Office of the US Courts on the denial by the 2nd Circuit Judicial Council, of which Judge Sotomayor is a member, of 100% of petitions for review of dismissed judicial misconduct complaints from 10/96 thru 9/08, a 12-year period.

Such ethics violations should never exist, but there has been no coverage whatsoever by the Big Media. Given all the evidence, a grand jury would indict not only Sotomayor, but several other federal judges involved in this fraud. This is a major scandal that has gone unchecked. Integrity and honesty in our judiciary must be of the highest priority.

No one is above the law — not for politics, or to appease voting blocks of certain ethnic groups.

I live in the lower Rio Grande Valley of Texas and I believe that we are 85% hispanic here. To be honest I don’t think I can say that they are any more dishonest than what we have in Washington.. Washington forgets that they work for us…we pay their salary and someone needs to remind them of that. What’s more when you talk about the illegal aliens – remember – they are illegal, it’s my understanding that they are breaking the law. Oh, I forgot – it’s okay to break the law if Obama likes you…. you realize that Tim G and his ilk and the representatives and like are stealing our money already – every time they go out they declare it’s part of their job, yeah right – everytime they get on one of those million dollar jets because they are to fricking good to get on a commercial jet their spending our money…. We need to put Obama and all those worthless &*^#@* in Washington on that healthcare (like Ted Kennedy). Make them all take term limits and retire on Social Security just like we do….. that might help keep the pond scum home.

  • Maureen

I did not vote for Obama. I wrote my senators not to approve her. I don’t feel I deserve the liars governing this country. I do feel victimized by the criminals in office though. I write & ask these crooks be charged. Instead they make them treasury secretary, etc.

  • Frank

We had an infinitely better qualified hispanic candidate nominated for the Supreme Court in 2001; Miguel Estrada. Democrats wanted to avoid giving Bush points with Hispanic voters. The Democrats hotly contested this; however, internal memos to Senate Minority Whip Dick Durbin mention liberal interest groups’ desire to keep Estrada off the court because “he is Latino”. Kennedy and Schumer were also behind the Senate’s fillibuster. Now here we are 8 years later and now we have a female hispanic candidate. The same Durbin, Schumer, and Kennedy that desired to keep Estrada off the court because “he is Latino”. are now falling over each other to ensure her appointment because she is Latina. Throw the bums out of office with you vote in 2010!

  • DaveH

I actually think that the Sotomayor appointment might be good for all country. And same for the election of our President Obama.
I have been butting my head against the wall for most of my life trying to convince my acquaintances that our ever-growing Federal and State governments were going to eventually bring this country to it’s knees. Mostly in my younger days they thought I was a looney radical. Now, most of those same people sound more like me than I do. I gave them ideas to think about that they weren’t hearing from the mainstream media. They resisted these foreign ideas at first, but over the years thought about them and finally woke up. Mind you, I’m not saying they were original ideas of mine. I have just read a lot of alternative publications and heard political arguments that most people aren’t exposed to.
I believe that the election of the very left-wing Obama, and the eventual exposing of Sotomayor, is going to finally wake a lot of voters up to reality. So, in that respect, they may do us good.

  • Linda Bee

We have a pair of racists in the White House with Barack & Michelle Obama, and now there is actually a racist sitting on the Supreme Court!

(Obama AUTOMATICALLY ASSUMED the white cop was wrong and the black guy was being treated unfairly before he knew ANY facts.)

I raised my family with no color lines drawn, or hatred toward ANYONE of color.
(I was not taught this hatred from my Mom either)

This administration thinks it’s time for payback for all the past years of hatred and ignorance. Why should I have to pay anything for what I NEVER did?

Our family is blessed to be mixed with many colors, because they were not taught racism and therefore did not eliminate partners based on race.

This is just more PROOF that the Obama’s listened to their hate spewing Pastor Wright. How sad for all of us!

  • http://thegreat4thofjulypitchforkparade.blogspot.com/ Lyle

Mike has a good point about backing up things with facts but as we have all witnessed various groups have used facts that have been distorted, taken out of context, stretched, fragmented or otherwise spun into an outright lie to benefit their own advantage. Also we all know someone that, during the course of a conversation, can manufacture facts at the same speed as they can spew them.

Facts that cannot be disputed are very useful however but I often can not recall a fact in time to be of use so I prefer to speak in concepts as they are easy to digest and I like to let folks find out the facts on their own if they would. I believe that folks can grasp a good concept like the US constitution providing they have not been brainwashed to the point of being a walking vegetable.

Which brings me to this concept, how in the hell did we ever get to the point that we allow politicians, elected officials and bureaucrats to blatantly lie to us without any fear of reprisal? The citizen does not have that same option and would fear incarceration if they did.

If we had taken a different path and not tolerated that kind of thing and made our leaders face up to any and all lies used to gain position and power, we would not be in the mess that we currently are mired in.

    • http://aol Don

Lyle, first I should tell you I don’t like politicians. I am an independent. I know Republicans and Democrats don’t like me until it is time to vote. I am saying this so you can maybe judge what I have to say more obectively, because you will know better where iam coming from. ( I do give most people on this blog a hard time.) I feel Obama convinced the 56 million people who voted hor him that GB lied to us about the war. His staements sounded believable and presented them as facts. If most of you want to convince people that Obama is lying, you need to give the facts and make them believable. Saying his birth certificate is not legit, will not get you your desired results. Talking about Wright will not do it. It didn’t work for Palin. Saying he is for single payer will not do it, because many times he told us he is not for this. Saying he is a racist will not do it because he is a mix race. You need a big issue like Bush’s war, and hammer it in to the independents like myself. Most people attention span is limited, so the 100 or more lies he said won’t do it. Bush won because he let the Swift boat representatives hammer it in. So, what will your war or Swift boat topic be?

Facts that are not true are not facts, and that is what Mike was talking about, the things you call facts because they have been spun or changed from the truth no longer makes them facts so please do not refer to them as facts. Politicians do have fear of reprisals they are called elections, if they do or never come out the way you want them to does not mean they have not been subjected to this reprisal process and it sounds more to me that is what you might be referring to.

La Sotomayor is a pig-faced racist (with lipstick), a typical product of affirmative action (just like Abu Hussein from Kenya), carefully nurtured by tenured marxists at our “elite” universities (just like Hussein). I can predict all her future rulings with 100% accuracy – and will take bets on that.

    • http://aol Don

I’m 100% on the two that Bush nomintaed and C. Thomas. I never thought to take bets. Thanks for the Money tip.

Where is our military in all of this? When I joined the Navy, I took an oath to protect our Constitution from enemies both foreign and domestic. Seems to me any government official who lies in office and disregards the Constitution for his or her personal gain is commiting TREASON. They are stealing from us our Liberty, Freedom and our tax money. The military should arrest every government official from the House on up and hold open elections to replace them.

    • Lyle

Chuck, I think that it be a bad idea for the military to have that much power. Think of who has control over it. However I think that the people need to find a way to regain enough power to do just that and If we could charge most of congress with treason it sure would bring our country back a lot closer to it origins. We need to put a stop to any politician using a lie for any political gain and if it means charges of treason, so be it.

      • Chuck

It seemed to work in Honduras but maybe your right. Since the states have their own sovreignty and the federal government was born from the states they should or could hold the federal government accountable and try them for these criminal acts.

      • cr747

That’s a scary thought. O-BAM-BAM-OBAMA in charge of all our service personal

        • Chuck

Obama would be arrested. Birther question, he may not be eligable as president therefor he cannot conduct the duties of commander and chief and of course he lied about everything else during his campaigne.

    • http://aol Don

But the same pattern from the last few decades will remain that is who ever spends the most money will win. You can beat all of them if you start early and collect money, now. I think you could collect a lot of money from this blog because most people hate Obama. Give your adress and tell everyone how you are going to secure their money and what your plans are.

      • Chuck

Don; Simple, cap the amount of money that can be used. That might even the playing field and you could also make transparent each individuals background which would include everthing since the day they were born. Lord knows I went through this hassel to apply for a county sheriffs position in corrections. Why should it be any different for public office? I never said I would run for any government office of which I know I’m not qualified. I just threw some ideas out there and of course only the narrow-minded responded, except for Lyle he at least made a comment that made sense.

  • debrarae

Under no circumstances is Sotomayer a ‘secret right winger’. All anyone has to do to know her ‘true stance’ on the issues, is to look up her rulings. And her actions/rulings, speak for theirself!

  • http://Yahoo.com Sue C

What is a right-winger, anyhow? If you mean a Republican is a right-winger, you better think, again. I don’t understand all this nonsense about one being a right/left-winger. I just understand that whether you are a Democrat, or Republican, you are an American, and when you make a vow to take any office, from the Presidency, to the Lowest Contributor to the well being of America, it should not be about whether you are a right/left-winger, or if you are black, white, hispanic, or any other race! It should be because you are an American, and that YOU are chosen to hold your office, to represent, your state, and your country, with great integrity.

Whether Sonia Sotomayor, is a secret right-winger, or not, is irrelevant. The main thing here is: Now that she is seated on the Supreme Courts of America, she is to execute justice, the way God wants it done, not the way the Democrats/Republican want it done.

You see, Mr. Wood, Your life, and all peoples’ lives are precious in the sight of God, and should be in the sight of man, but you and I both know that it is not so!

However, if you go to the 5 books that Moses wrote in the Old Testament, you will find, ***The Real Law*** that can never be legislated, and does not move to accomodate anyone, whether you are The King, or The President! Based on The Law of God, we are to judge, not taking sides with anyone, but giving ***JUSTICE TO WHOM JUSTICE IS DUE, AND JUDGEMENTS TO WHOM JUDGEMENT IS DUE, WITHOUT ANY COMPROMISE***because God watches the heart of each judge, and according to the justice or judgements you execute, good, or bad, God sees the whole scenario, and He will visit the family tree of that judge with what he/she did/does on the bench.

So Mr. Wood, please do not get on that irrelevant branch, of secret right-winger, or leftwinger. God is not an American, and He does not care, whether you are a Democrat, or a Republican! He cares about whether you use your office to enhance His Kingdom, and your house, and your bloodline, gets to reap what you sow!

Don’t even tell me that scripture belongs to the Old Testament! There are many who think they are under the promises of the New Testament, and are still bigots, racists, occultists, shed blood, commit murders (without a cause), and some are rapists, lawless, spineless, whoremongers; others are witless, worthless, and totally useless, and a lot of such people will stand before God, one day, and fulfil Matthew 7 Scripture, which says, ***Depart from me you workers of iniquity! I never knew you*** So please get off the band-wagon of the right-wing/left-wing issue, and let’s build America, once again, on TRUTH, INTEGRITY, AND JUSTICE, ONE WAY, FOR *ALL* PEOPLES.

    Thank you!

    • http://aol Don

Sue, I just stood up and gave you a standing ovation. You are my hero. Lyle, if you believe in God, you need to think about what the Almighty really means. Now my feelings about God: God does not go by names like American, European, Jewish, left or right, but what is found in the heart where you can also find God. I guess I just repeated what Sue said.

    • American Citizen

They do attribute the words “right-winger” to Republicans and “left-winger” to Democrats for a reason that I forget. But the fact they are Republican or Democrat does matter, or at least it’s supposed to, because of their party’s platform. Sadly, you can’t trust any of them to abide by them.
I’d like to see an absence of all parties and just be able to vote for a person because of his or her views.’ Then we could really hold them responsible for what they do without fear of a party threat.

I just solved a puzzle in which the answer was: Liberty means responsibility which is why so many people dread it. Think about it. Our government is run by do-gooders and those seeking power. Even the do-gooders gain power because they oversee the programs and make the rules (or at least the bureaucrats who work for them do.) We are actually a country run by bureaucrats as you well know if you’ve had to deal with any government entity.

    • cr747

A right winger is someone like our government, LIKE A BIRD WITH ONE WING BROKE AND THEY GO AROUND IN CIRCLES. Don’t that sound about like what we have got in Washington. All they know is one direction, their direction and their direction only. To hell with the people that voted them in there.

  • Lyle

    Sue C

I think that you should have said “they way the people want it done” not god.
Also, Moses was not an American and I don’t think that most Americans would want to wait for god to deal out justice.

  • Bill

It is abominable to see that the majority of those elected into office by us, “THE PEOPLE”, have exchanged “Principles” for “what’s in it for me”!

TRUST is becoming a rare commodity in Washington. Lies, pretense, deception abound. Political Corectness is in, the Truth is out.

What I hate most is that those making noise about race are often the biggest racists themselves inciting dissention for their own political gain — disgusting!

What utter nonsense!!! I said it out loud! I thought what a blow to Clarence Thomas and Chief Justice Roberts. He is the leader, NOT HER! Never her! EVER! She is nothing but a go-fer for Obama and got her school freebies from affirmative action coffers. She has never worked a full day in her life and sucked off the grants for women of race. La Raza must be SO proud of their judge. I am sick to the core. I am terrified for our nation. WHO’S NEXT?She represents everything that is going wrong with America and now we have her for life. Just to call someone a liar because you have a slightly different political policy. I think she will be a good or maybe even a great judge. And then there are the pure nuts that just want to say Obama isn’t a citizen when every official in Hawaii including the Republican governor there has said his birth certificate is valid. I think that people that ignore the facts are driven racism. Maybe next time Obama will nominate a black person to be a judge, that will give you someone else to hate.

      • http://aol Don

He didn’t say he was stupid, he said he acted stupidly. Later he said he could have calibered his words better. I wonder if he could have used a better word than calibered? Or did I get that word correct? The only witness besides the police said the police didn’t handle themselves very well. Hey, this is what I heard from Obama and the witness. I’m not taking sides on this one.

    • cr747

If O-BAM-BAM OBAMA is a US citizen, why don’t he prove it by showing his real birth certificate? Because he doesn’t have one. Hard to get a US birth certificate when you where born in Kenya. Makes since, doesn’t it?????

      • http://aol Don

747 – the Hawaiian officals, which I’m sure you think are lying, say the birth certificate is legit. They have checked it out over 100 times. Some guy looked into it, and said it is not a birth certificate but a “living certicate” and some lawyer from Kenya said he found his real certificate. His grandparents put the listings in the newspaper after he was born, but put down different hospitals. I tend to believe the Hawaiian officals, but I’m sure most don’t. I guess you will believe the lawyer even though most Republicans hate most lawyers. I guess you can trust the ones that support your case.

As I’ve said, too, there are too many unanswered questions about Obama.

All during the campaign, every time I saw or heard him on TV, my skin crawled. That’s always a sign to me that something doesn’t add up or the person isn’t who he or she say they are.

I get so tired of him looking down his nose and preaching to us. He doesn’t talk to us, he preaches. “What I say is good for you.” I can read/listen between the lines as well as anybody.

        • cr747

I am a registered demo-crattt but I sure didn’t vote for BAM-BAM-OBAMA,or any of his cronies. Why is it so hard to show his birth certificate? Was he hatched?

“It really is amazing how narrow minded most people are. I see a lot of hate and only concern for self. We should value diversity of opinion. Just to call someone a liar because you have a slightly different political policy.”

      Leonard, come on…

Let us really look at who is narrow minded, Obama and the liberal controlled Congress have only one solution for all the woes of America… Centralizing information with and giving more control to a growing Government is their only answer..

Now let us look at Hate and concern for self… Who coached ACORN on how to force banks to loan money to unqualified borrowers, who sense the Clinton Administration has curbed Congressional over site of Fannie May and Freddie Mac and received the highest return from Fanny May and Freddie Mac in PAC monies.. Who used the RACE CARD in silencing anyone against these loans and who continued throwing money at the economy when it went belly up in hopes to distract the Citizens from forcing a meaningful investigation into who and what laws were broken, talk about Racist and self serving…

We know from the actions of a Liberally lead Congress that the “value diversity of opinion” is now where to be found.. Corners are being cut like never before, bills are not even read in a rush to get them passed before any descent can be waged.. We have heard verbalization’s from Congressional leaders about their position as the Majority Party who said it to put the Minority party in its place of rubber stamping anything put in front of them..

And this one Leonard. “Just to call someone a liar because you have a slightly different political policy.” Are you kidding me.. Liberals use every tactic possible to silence an opposing view… Liberal Colleges, heckle Conservative Speakers if they are even invited.. Liberal politicians tried to slip the miss named “Fairness Doctrine” back into service to silence Conservative Talk Radio.
Listen to your own Liberal News media and their description of Citizens who dare question Obama’s Health plan at these Town Hall Meetings. You tube is now posting videos of liberals attacking (even physically) those who dare ask questions or voice an opposing opinion on the Socialization of America.

I and everyone here including you have a right to express your opinion. But don’t lay any guilt trips on us for voicing our opinions and frustrations and yes even anger.. Being Narrow minded is what liberals have become.. Being to open minded is what is killing the Conservative GOP. Now that they have come down off their ivory towers on Capital Hill they are getting an ear full from unhappy constituents… What do they do, RUN…..

Last evening I heard Bill Cunningham on WLW-Cincinnati radio say that if Obama did not have a valid birth certificate, the Clinton’s, Bush’s and Cheney’s would have known it as being former Presidents, they would have checked him out thoroughly. So I think this “birth” thing should be laid to rest and work on him being a one-term president.

      • cr747

HE’S NOT A PRESIDENT, HE KNOWS NOTHING OF LEADING OUR NATION. WHY DID PAST PRESIDENT BILL CLINTON HAVE TO GO TO N.KOREA TO BRING HOME THOSE JOURNALISTS? BECAUSE HE DIDN’T HAVE THE SMARTS TO DO IT. ALL HE WANTS TO DO IS GET BEFORE THE CAMERA AND MAKE AN A** OUT OF HIMSELF. YOU THINK THEY WOULD LET ME BE A PILOT ON A 747 IF I DIDN’T KNOW HOW TO FLY? COURSE NOT. THEN HE SHOULDN’T BE PRESIDENT BECAUSE HE DOESN’T KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT IT. HAVE HIM IMPEACHED FOR GOD’S SAKE BEFORE HE GETS US ALL BLOWN UP BY ANOTHER NATION.

If you can, stretch your ‘memory,’ Leonard. Remember Clarence Thomas? He’s a black conservative on the Supreme Court. He was attacked by mad dog ultralibs because their infantile mentality refuses to believe there are any black conservatives in America. Only a lunatic ultralib could believe such raw stupidity.
As for Clarence Thomas’ attacker, she is a lawyer (somehow). She waited T E N Y E A R S to make her accusations. Is she proof that ultralibs can get a law degree with a handful of green stamps? Maybe ultralibs should hand out law degrees to ultralib families at birth (like a social security #).
While I can’t speak for all conservatives, I can say that ultralibs just don’t show us much. They never did. They never will. Stupidity may be great at a party, but as a way of life, it’s a false god, Leonard.
Sooner or later, ultralibs will learn the hard way that common sense is a true asset. Ultraliberalism is a horse’s asset (or perhaps a jackasset).

Whether she is a good or great judge has nothing to do with what you or anyone “thinks” or “feels”. Would you think that her past decisions would be a better indicator?
Since you brought up the Obama birth certificate issue, ask yourself why people, I mean “pure nuts” would even be concerned about it. Ask why his college records are sealed. Seek TRUTH Leonard. Search for it. It is the beginning of wisdom.

Smilee, It sounds to me like you also may have been under a rock also. You don’t seem to get the picture of what is happening in this country. All of our rights are being stripped away from us day by day. So you need to do a little more reading and less running someone else down till you understand what is happening to our country every day. No I am not a racist. I am a white mail who was fortunate enough to be raised by a black couple who worked on our ranch, and ate at the same table as my family did with my mom and dad, sister and two brothers that are Baptist preachers, and when possible I traveled with 2 different gospel groups on a bus, in the air etc; that these fine black people learned us everything we know, so for your information and any one else out there that think I’m a racist, then think again. Some of my best friends are different race than I am. Many Many Many of them, and they will tell you the same thing.

        • Smilee

I have a very clear understanding of what’s going on in this country today.

          The post we are responding too is Leonard ‘s as follows;

I have read a lot of the comments here. It really is amazing how narrow minded most people are. I see a lot of hate and only concern for self. We should value diversity of opinion.

I agree with the above and I am not interested in the excuses you give here apparently your experiences growing up did not keep you from writing the many posts you have made that are are racist and you cannot have it both ways and you see the government as a boogie man out to get you which suggests you no longer believe in the government of WE THE PEOPLE, In our constitutional government this is done through your representatives and if you are hell bent on destroying our government then you will lose your rights but if you support your government and work to improve it you might see results but as everything the government does is met with a big NO as you advocate then of course things will not improve. I am for making government be its best and you clearly want to destroy the one we have now. The representatives we have know might not be of your choosing but they are the legitimate government. You see the absence of government is anarchy and this is what you will have unless you people are willing to compromise some. And that starts with respecting others points of view and that was the point of Leonard’s post. Pull your head out of the sand and you would see I am not under a rock.

      • cr747

Smilee, You keep insisting that I’m racist for the way I feel about our president, and our government. The color or their skin or their nationality has nothing to do with race. We have got people in Washington that do not believe WE THE PEOPLE. They believe WE FOR THEMSELVES AND THEMSELVES ONLY. The heck with the people who put them in office, there is no concern for them. Two of the congress people from my district in my state are personal friends of my family, and they listen to WE THE PEOPLE. There are are some, or most of the one’s in congress could care less for the WE THE PEOPLE, they are the one’s that think they can’t be replaced. They are the ones that need to be reminded there is an election coming up, and be sent home to a place like my ranch and start cleaning out cattle and horse manure from the stalls or stables, that the some 40 employee,s that work for me and are of different race do every day of the week. And I can depend more on them for doing their duties and jobs. While I am away from home flying some of these idiot congressmen and women to sight see in a foreign land on our tax money that they do not deserve.

I know you’ve all heard – how do you eat an elephant? one bite at a time….. How do you destroy the U.S.? again – one bite at a time – start by attacking our religion – then by removing God from our schools – then our capitols, then it goes on and on. Once they get up the hill – it will snowball and before we know it – we’re at the bottom.

    • American Citizen

You know the old saying, “Once the camel gets its nose into the tent – the rest is bound to follow”. That’s what is happening right before our very eyes. The camel is in up to its neck.

First, we’ve got apathy, an uninformed citizenry who chooses to remain in its ignorance. Then comes Socialism, the people want the government to take care of them. Lastly comes Communism where all goes to the government to be given back to the people as the government wishes.

What’s truly scary is that Russia is warning us about the way we’re going.

      • Lyle

I am with you on this and yes it is a shame that the majority of folks prefer to remain ignorant on the one subject that is going to be the most important issue that they slept through. I would just let them all sleep and get what they deserve if it were not for the fact that we need for them to wake up for all of our sakes.

We need to find a solution to this ignorant head in the sand problem and fast, before the next election so that we can start clearing the rats out of the white house. Somehow we need to get all of the voting public to vote for any one except a republican or a democrat.

  • http://Elections Shannon

Most people don’t even get a chance to vote for the person they want as president. By the time it gets to their state, their guy or gal has been eliminated by some other states choices. If all states voted on the same day for president, then we would see who the true majority of people want for president……..not just who was the least heinous of the choices they were left with. “Change” is not always a good thing….. but the “Changes” that would be good for “the people” of the United States would not be that good for the politicians.

  • American Citizen

Shannon, you are thinking as I do on the primaries. Why aren’t they all held at the same time? By the time we get to vote, one of the last primaries to be held, my candidate’s name is usually not on the ballot. I voted for my candidate for President in ’08 as a write-in. I even vote for at least one Libertarian to try to keep the other parties honest. I know he or she won’t win, but it’s a warning. Maybe someday soon the Libertarian Party will be noticed by the people.

I just had an idea and I need your help.

I would like every one who finds this a conceivable idea to copy it and carry it to every board, forum and any other posting place. Add to it or improve it if you like but keep the main gist of the idea the same. We can make this work if we work at it and have some fun. Looking for some catchy slogans to use on T shirts, hats campaign buttons and bumper stickers. Put on your thinking caps folks and make a difference.

“Rid our government of the control of the FED.”
Vote for any one not connected to the two party system.
Never vote for a DEM or REPUB. Write one in if you need to.

Suggestion to any candidate running for office; do not run if you do not intend to keep your promises and never make any promise that you can not keep.

Mandate by the people: That any third party candidate who successfully runs for an office, will do what ever is necessary to restore truthfulness to government and to impose penalties to any public official who uses falsehoods or misrepresentations for political or monetary gain for himself or others.

    • s c

Basically, I agree with you. But, this mess is so deep and wide that it will probably take an 18th century cure. What we see are those who work for ‘others.’ They have too much to lose by being ‘public’ figures. They manipulate. We suffer.
The forces for good have been silent and indifferent for so long that a cure won’t be easy. A quick cure is impossible. This will have to burn itself out. It is akin to a malignant, national disease that that started in America over 100 years ago .
This disaster is beyond politics. This is good vs. evil, and the battle requires divine intervention. To make matters worse, we have no religious leaders. They, too, have sold out.
Having faith in mortal leadership comes with a high price. Only now are some realizing this. My advice is for people to get their priorities straight, and give no politician any rest.
America has no Washingtons, Jeffersons, Franklins or Lincolns.
That compels us to heed older advice, and then do whatever it takes to corner evil, expose it and pray that our efforts aren’t too little or too late.

      • Lyle

SC, Well doing something is far better than doing nothing. If you can make enough noise, someone will take notice and that someone might just learn something.

I do understand that this thing is a bigger mess than any one can possibly understand and it will require some strong measures to rid it of the greedy monsters that created it. But we must try and the only way that I know to eat an elephant is one mouthful at a time or feed an army.

As for divine interference, get real and just take a good look at the world and see how that has worked out for them and please don’t try and tell me that I’m not good if I aint religious. I know a lot of bible packing, Sunday go to church types that are some of the most dishonest folks in the world. Did you ever know a president who didn’t attend church? This is how the folks in power keep us all divided and fighting each other and not taking them into account. We need to stop fighting each other and focus on the real problems.

Yes I do agree that we need leaders that are honest, have integrity, have principles and will represent the people that elected them into office. I have no idea what the hell morality is and it differs with both the territory and the individuals beliefs. I care not what your religion or morals are, I do care how honest you are and if you are a man of principles.

Biggest story of the century is going mostly unreported

There is a growing number of folks who believe (including myself who read the book some years ago called “No One Dares Call It A conspiracy”) that neither party really has full control over our government.

It was suggested by this same book and now many other folks that the “fed” which is a privately owned corporation controls our banks also has a strong strangle hold on both parties. If this is true, and it does seam quite feasible, then the two parties are allowed to fight over god, abortion, health care, the environment, the weather and on and on and on until the people become completely numb with apathy. However the outcome, life goes on as usual and things get steadily worse because it doesn’t matter that much which party wins the government is still under the same control.

The biggest story of the century is going mostly unreported and ignored by the very same folks that we depend on to keep us abreast of events that matter to us. And for why? Is it because they fear ridicule? or is because they are owned by the same who would perpetrate the demise of this grand country?

I was involved with the campaign for Ross Perot and watched very carefully how he was finally defeated. It took the work of a team of experts to find out how to push Ross’s buttons and that is how he blew the race to the white house.

It has been said that we will never have another chance to run a third party with any degree of success again. I think that this is wrong minded and a defeatist attitude and I think that the time has come that the people will find a way to vote the two party system out of office. A good start would be for the voting public to decide that no matter who runs for either of the two parties, that they will only vote for a confirmed third party candidate no matter what their name is. This would probably induce more qualified folks to run on a third party ticket. The only concern would be keeping the fed from putting up their own shill and this is another good reason to make the fed transparent and open up their books.

    • http://www.historyguide.org/Europe/lecture7.html-34k Randa

In a perfect world a third party candidate would be fine. But.. tick tock.. we must forward a republican conservative immediately that can WIN.. AND WHO is strong enough to reverse and repeal all this mess on DAY ONE. ps.. 2010 elections are right around the corner… get out the conservative vote… start today.

      • Lyle

I just said that the republican party is controlled by the FED which is a privately owned company and that the Fed has a strangle hold on both parties. There will never be a Democrat or a Republican that will even so much as try to fix this mess. Sure they may become aware of the peoples demands and campaign to that tune, but the Fed will never allow either party to get rid of the Fed or try to fix things.

It has been said that the Democrats and the Republicans are heading in the same exact direction but the Republicans are plodding along at a more sedate pace.

    • James

Lyle, I agree. Repeal the Federal Reserve Act of 1913, go back to family owned local banks, and most of our troubles would disappear.

  • American Citizen

I wonder what would happen if there were a true taxpayer revolt and no one paid Federal taxes. The IRS could not put 300 million Americans in jail.

    • Lyle

This has been discussed many times in different circles and it is a sterling idea. However it always comes down to the same logistical problem, who will be the first to do it. Those who would be brave enough to go first may be hammered by the injustice system and incarcerated.

The day is coming though when the people will have had all that they are willing to take and this, and other really bad things, will happen.

However, If any one out there knows of a way to quickly rally the masses and orchestrate a unified tax revolt, before the government could crack down, it could work. Getting the word out to every one or at least the majority of the population will be challenging and I’m quite sure that the government would try to intervene. Then getting the majority of the people to cooperate will be challenging also. Sure seems to be worth a try, any one got any ideas?

Perhaps if we could bring George, Ben, Alexander and the rest of the boys back from the grave, they could show us how to rally the masses and lead us back to sanity.

I have heard that if you work for the IRS that there are people that work there” that hounds the American people” by threatening the citizen to pay their taxes, but they owe the IRS and get by with it. Sounds like the IRS has a double standard.

      • American Citizen

Our tax code is so complex that even people who work for the IRS don’t understand it. So many people get notices that they owe more taxes when they don’t. One of our sons is a CPA and he has to go with the party being charged to help defend the charge. Most of the time, it comes out that the party does not owe any further taxes and may even be owed a refund. I think what the IRS does to people who do owe more taxes is just plain awful. The stories I have read about their tactics make one so angry. How does the IRS expect a person to pay back/more taxes if they take the person’s assets so they can’t work. Of course, The IRS is a government entity, thus employs a lot of barely qualified people. I say this reluctantly as political correctness and hiring minorities because of this makes dealing with the government a hassle. I know, as I once worked in the school system for a government run program. I know taxes are a necessary evil in order to have a military, but most of the social programs the government runs are not necessary. The waste is horrendous.

Smilee, God love ya, but Thanks!! Our only income at the moment is Social Security on which we don’t pay taxes. They will have to be raised drastically to pay for Obama’s programs.

As for where I read that 60% of Sotomayor’s decisions being reversed, it was in the newspaper. I guess it was wrong, too. Funny how no one here mentions these facts. Smilee…

Perhaps I should restate my point for you. First, I’ll go on record to say NO, the Lawyers should not define good health. Nor should our government. However, it seems good health has become the responsibility of the pharmaceutical manufacturers; and they certainly don’t have much interest in redefining good health…do they? Based on my remarks I’m somewhat surprised any rational individual would draw a conclusion that I suggested Lawyers define good health. Your claim that but a mere 2% of medical expenditure results from malpractice borders on absurdity. Research your facts; a message you seem all too eager to convey. May I suggest you research AMA statistics on loss severity and its impact on malpractice insurance? Afterwards, examine the impact the severity of loss awards have across the entire spectrum of medicine. That includes the burden of expensive unnecessary testing and procedures performed for the sake of tort protection. Malpractice insurance has increased at a rate roughly triple the year over year GDP increase for the past 2 decades. Yes, insurance companies pay unconscious sums of money to mitigate loss. However, much of the increased administrative costs of loss mitigation occur to contain the Doctor’s tort defense actions as well as guard against patient fraud. Finally, I never suggested a harmed patient not receive compensation from a grossly negligent Doctor. What I said is tort reform. Tort reform is necessary to control the outrageous jury awards and settlements. The reality is this; medicine is not perfect. Humans are not perfect. We break and they do their best to fix us up. But moving your furniture from the trailer park to a penthouse should not be part of the medical tort system.

    • Smilee

John Q Citizen on August 9th, 2009 at 11:40 pm

I did not suggest that lawyers make medical decisions I merely suggested it as a possibility as the one you would choose other than medical professional to do that because in your post that is what you seemed to be advocating. Tort reform has nothing to do with malpractice insurance premiums, this is nothing more than the insurance companies ripping off doctors in the same manner as they rip us all off with premiums designed to make enormous profits. The 2% cost of malpractice through the legal system is very much correct and this not even disputed except by conservative rhetoric, you have taken the liberty to add into it all kinds of costs that tort reform would have little to do with.

YOU SAY “I never suggested a harmed patient not receive compensation from a grossly negligent Doctor. What I said is tort reform. Tort reform is necessary to control the outrageous jury awards and settlements. ”

Don’t you know that patients compensation for malpractice comes from what you call outrageous jury awards and settlements, and to control them is to deny patients their just compensation. You contradicted yourself.

Certainly you must know that the AMA is biased on this subject and have a vested interest in it, their figures are almost always considered suspect and some of their statements are downright outrageous on this subject and only a minority position even in the medical community to day.

YOU ALSO SAID “However, it seems good health has become the responsibility of the pharmaceutical manufacturers; and they certainly don’t have much interest in redefining good health…do they?”

I believe the pharmaceutical companies have no interest in medicine today, their primary objective is profits and they care nothing about health, with this I agree with you but never the less do contribute greatly to our inflated medical costs.

John, tort reform will do nothing to contain today’s costs of health care. In fact they keep doctors more honest and the choices they and you claim they make to protect themselves are also very profitable to them and probably has more to do with that that than protecting themselves from law suits. Tort reform would do nothing more than deny patients just compensation for their legitimate losses and even many doctors say they can greatly limit malpractice with better methods and that it is doable and desirable as the best patient outcome is not to suffer losses at the hands of medical providers and therein should be our focus not tort reform. Administration cost are not the same as costs related to law suits one is the cost of running insurance and medical providers businesses and tort is the paying for your mistakes which is usually paid for from the individual doctors insurance and not the medical provider as a business, however, there are exceptions to this.

By being so misinformed on medical lawsuits and what is referred to today as tort reform as you are, one must question if you probably are biased towards lawyers and bear a hated for them, although you have not said that you seem to fall for that rhetoric that is used for that. Conservatives whose main objective is to protect the big corporations and the rich in this country are always quick to deny just compensation to anyone to protect the money and profits of these companies and persons and your post seems to feed into that baloney.

You may think there are better but few have the depth of her experience and intelligence as was proven by her standing in schools including law school to say nothing about the references she got from her employers prior to her becoming a judge and then her lengthy experience on the bench giving her more experience going on the court than anyone now on the court or nominated to the court in the past 100 years. You are in denial if you cannot admit this is one hell of a resume and she is admired by the vast majority of the legal profession. I believe he did look at her compassion for empathy as only one qualification but only one of many.

The definition of empathy is: the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner.

Why is this a bad thing for a judge to have, it seems to me that conservatives think of it as having sympathy and that is a totally different thing and with that I could agree. Empathy is an admirable trait especially in a person who sits in judgment of another as a judge is required to do. The conservative take on this I find as them lacking any real reason to oppose her and thus just say bad things about her due to their deep hatred for Barrack, I suspect if he could have nominated Jesus the conservative talking points would have been the same. She definitely had the best resume in my life time and I am almost 70. I think the conservative stink raised about her is a whole lot of noise about nothing.

Just your opinion but you cannot refute her resume and the recommendation of those she worked for before becoming a judge, she has more experience joining the supreme court that any on the court now had when they joined the court and more experience than any other nominee going back 100 years in addition to her being top of the class in all schools she graduated from. The fact is sir not many judges can cite these qualifications. Your opinion is now irrelevant anyhow since she has been confirmed and is on the bench and your statements say more about you than her and show how bigoted and hateful you are and these traits tend to cloud ones judgment and I suspect that is the case with you.

        • cr747

Smilee, I didn’t know that you where any where around 100 years old. I can’t go back that far myself. You know, I to graduated at the top of my class also, but that does not make me qualified to run for congress,or be appointed to be on supreme court. I did graduate with honor as a first class fighter pilot back in Vietnam, and today captain of my flight crew as pilot of one of the largest an most popular air ships in the sky. I still believe SOTO-MOTO does not have enough knowledge to set on the supreme court. She is a liar, and two face for the reason of not answering half of the questions that was presented to her. If you had the knowledge to have listen and interpret the questions that was ask her that she had no doubt of what she was talking about. Then or now or next year. The ones already on the supreme court have already forgotten more than she will ever know. I could or you could go out and get people to write you a resume that would out done her’s. So for now I think you are the bigot and most hateful in what you are up in the air about, because you know nothing about what you are trying to make everyone try to accept her as a judge. She might make a good court clerk, notice I said might. I’m not sure of that. She is a very shallow minded person just like you.

      • American Citizen

Smilee, I know the definition of empathy. The true definition is to “stand under” that person, or in other words, to walk in that person’s shoes. But that should have nothing to do with what the person did to break the law. People know the difference between right and wrong. The judge can be lenient but there should be punishment. When she said judges make policy, that was a red flag right there. Making policy is to make law from the bench which she said she would not do. An outright lie because she’s already done that. We don’t need her kind on the Supreme Court who thinks the Constitution is a living document. That makes it whatever you want to make it. You might as well throw it away.

        • cr747

I would say the only seat she’s got the sense to sit on is the one in the old outdoor s***house, and I believe Smilee is still using corn cobs, because he must still live in the sticks.

  • Darrel

Good to see “Smilee” is back. Good to see the plants are functioning as usual. Absolutely nothing he/she says has any credible information. Guess I better report his/her fishy activities to big brother (opps – BHO).

    • cr747

Darrel, I agree “Smilee” must have been asleep for the last eight months. He hasn’t said anything that makes any sense. Well talk to all of you later, getting in position to get this big bird in the air to the great state of California, and then back to Texas for a day or three to a little horse back riding. Have a good day!!!!!

  • American Citizen

Aha, Smilee, you’ve been caught. You don’t believe what comes out of Obama’s mouth. Either that, or you don’t listen to what he says. He’s all over the TV several times a week. He was just on today saying he wants everybody to be on Medicare. In other words, that’s his one payer type of program that he wants . But what we read is nothing like Medicare. He has not written the program, the Democrats in Congress did. They wouldn’t even let the Republicans have a say. And people think the program will be free. Well, Medicare isn’t free.

    • cr747

      YEA, BUT YOU WILL HAVE TO GO SEE THE DOCTOR OF THEIR CHOICE, AND THEIR HOSPITAL AND ETC;

      • Smilee

I”m on Medicare (a government plan) and that is simply is not true, and no proposed plan for anyone has said what you say. You are a liar and are only quoting the official conservative talking points and showing them you are being a good little ditto head.

        • cr747

Smilee, I wished that I still had the letter that came out in the American Citizen paper that told the people who already have insurance would be required to except the presidents insurance program, but we would have to see the doctors they wanted us to see, and go to the hospitals that they required us to go to. Their plan is just like the veterans plan they had in OBAMAS home state of Illinois that killed XX number of patients before they decided to investigate and found out the Doctor had already lost his license in other states, but Illinois accepted him without a background check. Now you are going to sit there and tell me the government is going to allow us to continue seeing our on personal Doctors? You have completely lost your mind. Must be one of OBAMAS doctors that you are seeing now, and they are slipping something in your coffee. Can’t you see the writing on the wall. Talk about a raciest our president is one of the biggest raciest in the country. He’s already proved that through the Gates-Crowley argument we just went through. If you believe this I got 6 thousands acres in Texas I would like to sell you. You belong in a rubber room so you won’t hurt yourself, or others.

I’m not familiar with the American Citizen paper, but you have definitely received misinformation about this but due to your bigoted attitude I would be wasting my time to try and explain the truth with you except to say it is not now or is it proposed to become as you say, This is just more of the conservative fiction intended to keep you in a state of fear and all you ditto heads in line. You are being used sir.

    • Smilee

Hi Darrel, report it to whomever you like, but I recognize your inability to know credible information when you are confronted by it. I also know what I have said is beyond you ability to correctly comprehend.

    • Dave Too

Wake up dude, Dems didn’t write the bills, score, seiu and acorn wrote them. the stupid dems don’t even know whats in them. thats why they can’t explain them at the town halls.

    • Cappy Sunday

Obama had said that he would like to expand medicare to everyone. In fact he is personally in favor of single payer system. That would be his ideal choice to cover everyone. However he knows that will not fly. Therefore he is asking for a plan with a public option in it. People can choose the government plan or the isurance company plan. Whichever they want.
As for not letting Republicans have a say, that is just bull crap. From the very begining he tried talking to Republicans and getting their input not just on health care but from even before inagereation day he wanted input from Republicans. But the Republicans only want to see him loose in 2012 and will offer nothing but a strong NO tpwards anything. That is what is so disgusting with the Republican party. They just play the politics game and don’t give a flying fig about real people and real Americans. You should all be ashamed of how they are acting.

American Citizen on August 10th, 2009 at 8:42 pm:

I do hear and I do listen and I agree he has something important to say while conservatives which I also listen to just keep repeating the same lies over and over again, but I listen to them as well as it points out to me how correct he is and the need for the reform he is seeking. I don’t believe you have read it or any part of it, I have read some of it and then again on conservative sites that say what they write is what the democrats have written and guess what they are very different and the conservatives cannot even get the layout, content or pages correct, I suppose they feel it is not important as their ditto heads that it is intended to reach will believe any lie they tell anyway. The end result may not be the same as medicare for the under 65 crowd but it will have the same protections that us on Medicare enjoy I do not know of even one in either party or independent who has said or thinks this will be free, only a fool would believe that, but after the plan or plans are fully in place you will have coverages with better choices at an affordable costs and at a lower portion of GDP than we have now, this is really a win win for all individuals at least those who do not have vested interest in the profits of the current third payer parties and to a lesser extent the medical providers. It is the conservatives that will feel caught when this plan becomes law and even conservatives once they see how it works for themselves will see how wrong they were at this time and probably brag about the improvements especially when they go shopping with the money they are saving.

    • American Citizen

Smilee, I don’t care what kind of bill Congress writes and Obama signs, the bureaucrats will make the rules. The devil is in the details as we keep trying to point out.

The whole point is, it’s another power grab by Congress and taking us further into slavery to them.

      By the way, who’s Darrell?

      • Smilee

American Citizen Reply: August 11th, 2009 at 3:45 pm

Darrell is in post number 50, we do not know the details as yet but conservatives all over the country including Sarah Palin are fabricating lies that to date have not been proposed by anyone and any reasonable person knows no politician in either party would be so stupid.
They are trying to scare the hell out of the population especially seniors, I find scaring vulnerable adults as stooping really low and it truly defines the character of the conservative movement in the country today. Personally I believe your fears are unfounded.

        • American Citizen

Then you are not listening to analysts who are saying that what is not specifically in the bill will be allowed such as paying for abortions. Unless the bill specifically says it will not pay for abortions, because it is silent on the issue, abortions will be paid for with our tax dollars. And if it does not say it will pay for a procedure, the doctors will most likely not recommend it. Medicare already does that also, that is, not pay for a procedure it determines is not necessary or will only pay a pittance for it. In any way, the patient is screwed. Maybe you don’t have a major health problem yet as my husband and I do. He has had several strokes, heart problems with surgeries (that is bypasses and stents). I am still in a 12 year battle with breast cancer. I also developed a heart problem from the chemo/radiation treatments. At my age now, 75, will the government continue to pay for my medical care? It may say, take a pain pill, go home and die.
I also just learned that the government will set prices for what it will pay for. It already does that with Medicare. In that case, we will have a shortage of doctors and an even worse shortage of nurses as doctors and hospitals will not be able to pay them what they receive now. We have 3 children who are nurses and I can see their wages will go down. Can you say rationed care?
As we try to tell all of you who see this bill as a panacea for the problems now, just wait. The devil is in the details.

    • American Citizen

I have read enough of the bill to know it’s confusing, obfuscating and some parts can be taken any way you wish. That’s why you hear what you say are lies. Bureaucrats would do the same thing because Congress does not make the rules. It only says what to do, not how to do it.
Why does it have to be over a thousand pages long? As someone said, if it can’t be said within three pages and written in language that is not lawyerese, it’s worrisome. An fifth grader should be able to understand it.

The link is for a nationwide prayer chain I have started. I you believe that our Constitution should be upheld and that Obama and those he has surrounded himself are part of a great evil that has invaded our country–at our own hands, no less–join the prayer chain in support of those who are being called “the mob.” We are the MOB, Americans standing for our country and for what is right.

    • http://personallibertydigest Becky

      Are you

  • http://heal-the-land.ning.com KS Ruff

Those who believe we are surrounded or invaded by a great evil…and that Obama is at the very center of it can join the National Prayer Chain to pray in support of those–the MOB, as Pelosi calls us–who are working every day to preserve our freedom.

You know what…I’d really like to leave a comment, but last week I found that Bob Livingstone’s e-zine practises CENSORSHIP! If a respondent happens to be a liberal (yeah there’s that dirty word conservatives love to hate), then your point of view will be suppressed. So much for the Freedom of Speech concept this e-zine claims to be in favor of, ladies and gentlemen!

The censorship I talk of occurred when I’d read another piece: the “Money, Oil and Power” article (Aug. 12, 2009). I was able to make an initial reply, to someone else’s comments calling president Obama ‘not the Anti-Christ, but Satan Himself’…the comment of one with alot more prejudice on display than discernment! Anyhow, I was allowed to express my (undisguised) liberal viewpoint. That was fine. So far so good. Then, the next day, an email notified me that I had been replied to.

This is when the censorship occurred: The right winger I was debating had his comment posted on the e-zine site, making his points about what I’d said…but when I hit “reply” to respond to his points…I ran into a series of meaningless error messages, or the page would load a blank instead of one with a message window, or some other method was employed to still my voice (so that the last response to the issue was from someone with an obvious right wing view). It was clear to me that there was no way, after nearly a half hour of trying, that I would be getting through to make my points re things he raised. Tell me that was a coincidence. I even tried to contact the e-zine directly and through other stories…and could not. It sure felt like I was tagged a liberal and was barred from any further comment.

I’d like to think that what happened to me was an unfortunate foul up, but frankly too many on the right (like O’Reilly) think a debate is won by the one who either yells the loudest or gets the last word. Is it possible to have a real debate with a liberal in this ultra-conservative’s e-zine, or is the ‘Personal Liberty’ (yeah right) Digest just another vehicle for an unchallenged conservative viewpoint!? If you, the reader, honestly believe in the things that make America great, such as real Freedom of Speech and the benefits from open and honest dialogue and debate, then insist on it and dont accept the ‘truth’ as told by anyone who would stifle it! – RFS

Hold on, just hold on here… Liberals for decades have Yelled, Screamed, ranted and raved in meetings, on the streets and in the media to be heard. As far as censorship, liberals should be the last ones to complain. Our colleges which should be the vanguard of free speech are deadly to conservative faculty or guest speakers, faculty and students that espouse conservative Ideas are overlooked in academia and jobs for conservative students. On the streets liberals used the RACE card so many times to shut opposing views up it has been worn out. It is the Liberals who want to bring back the so called Fairness Doctrine which basically can be used to shut down conservative talk radio which is a thorn in the side of liberal progressives. Knowing all other media including the news services are dominated by the left.. Only Radio is dominated by conservative programing and ironically the Fairness Doctrine only applies to radio.. Hmmm… I have posted to several Liberal blogs as an Independent asking questions and posting my independent views only to be answered with the same old name calling routines but no intelligent answers to the questions.. Liberals like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Barny Frank and others have stooped to calling fellow citizens horrible names just because they dare show up at town hall meetings without their Pom Poms and cheer for the liberal Agenda.. No , they actual showed up pissed off and questioning their representatives job performance in passing things without even reading them, or knowing they will do little to help, or indebting us for generations, or take more and more rights and choices away, God, liberals just do not see that behavior as being American, we should just sit down, shut up, and do what they say and don’t ask about what they do… So don’t be whining to a Conservative or Independent about censorship, that’s like the Islamic Extremest complaining about not having religious freedom while they kill non believers.

  • http://mog7@cox.net Muriel P. Goyette

I cannot possibly believe what I am reading….even between these lines. Did no one on earth hear her deep desire to castrate all white males to eliminate their majority? That comment ALONE brought obama to her side. Don’t even consider her judgement that got thrown out by the courts…..if the blacks can’t pass it, the test gets thrown out. And how about her cute “what makes you think you can defend yourself?”……wow. any country depending on her judgement will be inferior and the laughing stock of the world. And for America to be
no longer a force to be reckoned with is obama’s dream come true.
