Injuries Reported In 5.8 China Quake
ATUX CITY, China, Aug. 11 (UPI) — A 5.8-magnitude earthquake in northwest China has left 26 people injured, three of them in critical condition, authorities said.
The Thursday temblor in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region destroyed 30 housing units, China’s official state news agency Xinhua reported.
No deaths had been reported, spokesman with the Jiashi County Committee of the Communist Party of China said.
The epicenter was at the border area between the region’s Atux City in the Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous prefecture and Jiashi County in Kashgar, the China Earthquake Networks Center said.
