Hungarian Billionaire Buys Anti-Socialism Ad
SCREENSHOT
Billionaire Thomas Peterffy says he is voting Republican.

This election season, you might see Thomas Peterffy on your TV. He’s not a politician; he’s a billionaire who is afraid America is headed toward socialism.

The ad, which could end up costing Peterffy as much as $ 10 million, will run on CNN, CNBC and Bloomberg.

Peterffy left his home in Hungary and moved to New York in 1965. Without even knowing English, he landed a job on Wall Street and eventually founded one of the first electronic trading firms. But he’s afraid that the country he came to years ago is on a fast track to socialism if things don’t change.

Peterffy believes that Barack Obama’s policies disrespect the rich and destroy work ethic.

“When you trash the leaders of businesses, they stop working hard,” he said. “They go on vacation. I even see that within myself, I used to be proud of building Interactive Brokers. I would look forward to work each day. Now I’m being told I’m not doing my fair share.”

Neither candidate is featured in the ad, but Peterffy does say he is voting Republican.

This guy is 100% correct. Progressives are intent on destroying freedom. Just like the democrapic regimes in ILL, NY, Calif are broke and broken, they want the rest of the country to follow these models of success? GET EM OUT NOW!

    • Robert Smith

Awwww, another rich guy who wants MORE. The rich are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer.

Money made by moving money SHOULD be taxed higher, not lower. When folks actually produce something is when they should be rewarded.

We can’t afford to keep the looters in charge.

I believe that the man Obama became the puppet once inside the power structure of a government that allowed its President to be killed. He has a wife and children and is not the fearless warrior we would hope, but probably do not deserve. The great men are dying off and are replaced by cynics and despite sufficient information on the nature of the beast, active opposition is in short supply. Don’t fear a hybrid socialism, fear the Facist Police State and an unworthy aristocracy of greed and disinformation.

@–r s ——COMRADE————If you are so filled with HATE for the AMERICAN CAPITALIST system, why don’t you just leave,at least here you have that FREEDOM.If you are not able to afford a bus ticket out of our country,I will start a ‘kick the commie out’ fund for the bus fare for you to get out,and as you are leaving this ‘The GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD’,be sure to give up your AMERICAN CITIZENSHIP (that is if you are even an American Citizen) ,and don’t let the AMERICAN Border hit you on the ass on your way OUT.—————-What a puke—————————–

      • Bill

We have seen how smart you are by your past comments. You now just sound like a emotional child on the schoolyard.

Get a job and stay out of my life

      • Robert Smith

Easy screeches: “HATE for the AMERICAN CAPITALIST system,”

Nope, I LOVE capitalism. It’s the LOOTING I hate.

Sadly you can’t tell the difference between Reardon and Mooch.

Production should be rewarded, looting should be taxed to the max.

        Rob

      • vicki

        Robert Smith writes:
“Production should be rewarded, looting should be taxed to the max.”

Looting is a crime. The non consensual taking of property from its owners control.

I know that you liberals have lots of fun trying to change definitions but it is not useful in actual discussion.

Now just because YOU do not understand or like that some people have figured out how to use a commodity (in this case the stuff used for ‘money’) to get more wealth thru consensual arrangements between parties (business) does not give you license to LIE about what they are doing. The specific claim is that they are looting. Obviously from the definition they are not. They are producing more wealth for themselves and are helping others produce wealth as well.

      • Nadzieja Batki

You are the one who is lacking discernment in following O and that is more a danger to the US.
In Atlas Shrugged, Mouch is a coydog, a typical predator. Reardon is your typical nice, hardworking, gullible man which finally wakes up after being boxed in from all sides

      • eddie47d

Vickie doesn’t care about all the Wall Street looters. She apparently calls them entrepreneurs! How about Raj Rajaratnam who stole over 1 billion and only received 11 years in prison?

      • Robert Smith

Vicki says: “They are producing more wealth for themselves and are helping others produce wealth as well.”

Really…. And what is the product that comes out at the end of all of their financial shinangins?

Clue: NOTHING It is simply a means transfer wealth from the middle class to the 1% who are getting richer.

        Rob

      • rendarsmith

So we should all give our money to poor people like you for doing nothing, right Robert? That’ll fix everything and create work incentive.

        • actual socialist

Yet anouther conservitive who misses the point. you dont have to give them anything you just need to pay them what there work is REALLY worth. why is this so difficult? arn,t conservitives supposed to be SO MUCH smarter then liberals?

This letter sums up the job and economy situation quite well…The company employs 7000 people…5000 less than it did 5 yrs ago….Mr Siegel and his wife are well known…

            Date:Mon, 08 Oct 2012 13:58:05 -0400 (EDT)
            From: [David Siegel]
            To: [All employees]
            To All My Valued Employees,
As most of you know our company, Westgate Resorts, has continued to succeed in spite of a very dismal economy. There is no question that the economy has changed for the worse and we have not seen any improvement over the past four years. In spite of all of the challenges we have faced, the good news is this: The economy doesn’t currently pose a threat to your job. What does threaten your job however, is another 4 years of the same Presidential administration. Of course, as your employer, I can’t tell you whom to vote for, and I certainly wouldn’t interfere with your right to vote for whomever you choose. In fact, I encourage you to vote for whomever you think will serve your interests the best.

However, let me share a few facts that might help you decide what is in your best interest. The current administration and members of the press have perpetuated an environment that casts employers against employees. They want you to believe that we live in a class system where the rich get richer, the poor get poorer. They label us the “1%” and imply that we are somehow immune to the challenges that face our country. This could not be further from the truth. Sure, you may have heard about the big home that I’m building. I’m sure many people think that I live a privileged life. However, what you don’t see or hear is the true story behind any success that I have achieved.

I started this company over 42 years ago. At that time, I lived in a very modest home. I converted my garage into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you. We didn’t eat in fancy restaurants or take expensive vacations because every dollar I made went back into this company. I drove an old used car, and often times, I stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and partying. In fact, I was married to my business – hard work, discipline, and sacrifice. Meanwhile, many of my friends got regular jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a nice income, and they spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes. My friends refinanced their mortgages and lived a life of luxury. I, however, did not. I put my time, my money, and my life into this business –with a vision that eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford to buy whatever I wanted. Even to this day, every dime I earn goes back into this company. Over the past four years I have had to stop building my dream house, cut back on all of my expenses, and take my kids out of private schools simply to keep this company strong and to keep you employed.

Just think about this – most of you arrive at work in the morning and leave that afternoon and the rest of your time is yours to do as you please. But not me- there is no “off” button for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend all to yourself. I unfortunately do not have that freedom. I eat, live, and breathe this company every minute of the day, every day of the week. There is no rest. There is no weekend. There is no happy hour. I know many of you work hard and do a great job, but I’m the one who has to sign every check, pay every expense, and make sure that this company continues to succeed. Unfortunately, what most people see is the nice house and the lavish lifestyle. What the press certainly does not want you to see, is the true story of the hard work and sacrifices I’ve made.
Now, the economy is falling apart and people like me who made all the right decisions and invested in themselves are being forced to bail out all the people who didn’t. The people that overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed 42 years of my life for. Yes, business ownership has its benefits, but the price I’ve paid is steep and not without wounds. Unfortunately, the costs of running a business have gotten out of control, and let me tell you why: We are being taxed to death and the government thinks we don’t pay enough. We pay state taxes, federal taxes, property taxes, sales and use taxes, payroll taxes, workers compensation taxes and unemployment taxes. I even have to hire an entire department to manage all these taxes. The question I have is this: Who is really stimulating the economy? Is it the Government that wants to take money from those who have earned it and give it to those who have not, or is it people like me who built a company out of his garage and directly employs over 7000 people and hosts over 3 million people per year with a great vacation?
Obviously, our present government believes that taking my money is the right economic stimulus for this country. The fact is, if I deducted 50 percent of your paycheck you’d quit and you wouldn’t work here. I mean, why should you? Who wants to get rewarded only 50 percent of their hard work? Well, that’s what happens to me.
Here is what most people don’t understand and the press and our Government has chosen to ignore – to stimulate the economy you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Instead of raising my taxes and depositing that money into the Washington black-hole, let me spend it on growing the company, hire more employees, and generate substantial economic growth. My employees will enjoy the wealth of that tax cut in the form of promotions and better salaries. But that is not what our current Government wants you to believe. They want you to believe that it somehow makes sense to take more from those who create wealth and give it to those who do not, and somehow our economy will improve. They don’t want you to know that the “1%”, as they like to label us, pay more than 31% of all the taxes in this country. Thomas Jefferson, the author of our great Constitution, once said, “democracy” will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.”
Business is at the heart of America and always has been. To restart it, you must stimulate business, not kill it. However, the power brokers in Washington believe redistributing wealth is the essential driver of the American economic engine. Nothing could be further from the truth and this is the type of change they want.
So where am I going with all this? It’s quite simple. If any new taxes are levied on me, or my company, as our current President plans, I will have no choice but to reduce the size of this company. Rather than grow this company I will be forced to cut back. This means fewer jobs, less benefits and certainly less opportunity for everyone.
So, when you make your decision to vote, ask yourself, which candidate understands the economics of business ownership and who doesn’t? Whose policies will endanger your job? Answer those questions and you should know who might be the one capable of protecting and saving your job. While the media wants to tell you to believe the “1 percenters” are bad, I’m telling you they are not. They create most of the jobs. If you lose your job, it won’t be at the hands of the “1%”; it will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this country.
You see, I can no longer support a system that penalizes the productive and gives to the unproductive. My motivation to work and to provide jobs will be destroyed, and with it, so will your opportunities. If that happens, you can find me in the Caribbean sitting on the beach, under a palm tree, retired, and with no employees to worry about.

            Signed, your boss,
            David Siegel

Sorry what was that? couldn,t hear you through all that self-gratifacation. but seriously after the goverment has allowed you to threaten your workers with firing, homelessness and starvation for DECADES you are going to try and play the maryter? you achieved nothing everything you CLAIM to have ” earned ” you owe to the workers you are so ready to abanden.oh and thank you for trudging out the ” all the poor people are just lazy” argument makes it sooooooo much easyier to show just how ignorent you truley are.whats worse is you actually belive the garbage you spew dont you? you have convinced yourself that your some great maker when in fact all you are is a taker. you THINK you’re some saviour but the TRUTH is you are nothing but a parasite. you and your ilk sicken me.

          • Karen

@actualsocialist…..you crucify anyone who dares make a judgement call about you yet you are quicker to the draw than anyone else….I am a very small business owner of 2 businesses…I was able to employ about 20 people up until a few yrs ago…after obama took office and allowed his threats to American business owners and job creators set in. After he spent and wasted 1 1/2 yrs on obamacare rather than prioritizing jobs. Surviving the “obama” years has taken nearly everything I own including my retirement plan and health care insurance. I am now near retirement and because of obama s policies, it appears I will have nothing to retire on. I feel fortunate to at least live in Texas, where our economy is performing better than most…due to Republican leadership. I was seriously injured a week ago and went to an ER at a clinic near the accident…I m white and admit I was somewhat of a minority…after my quick surgery stitching up my hand I looked around and inquired how all the folks in the waiting room were able to afford their fees (I spent $600 for 6 stitches) and I was told most were on Medicaid…about 75% was the figure….I am assuming about 50% who obtain healthcare from that clinic are illegals who havent paid a red cent into our American system. Yet, our government continues this….At the expense of those who have paid into the system their entire lives like myself, and are now SOL w social security and medicare benefit cuts….because of our government. I find people like you astounding and baffling with how out of touch you really are. If you indeed are such a lover of socialism get the hell out of this country and move to a socalist country….and take obama and his disgusting, sickening ilk with you….don t let the door hit you in the ass….and don t look back after you realize you were wrong.

          • Hank Brandt

The point is if you never worked then what is that worth?

          • jan deen

I live in Romania and see the people who lived under communism/socialism and what their minds are like. They have learned how to deceive and be quiet about it, while the new generation is selling their values to buy BMW and Mercedes and trendy cloths. The categories you speak in are empty.

    • http://yahoo Charles Arthur Williams

He speaks about disrespect for the rich. The rich have been disrespecting the working man for 30 yrs.

      • Hank Brandt

Why not try harder, instead of being jealous of them DOING THE AMERICAN DREAM sit back & let everyone else work for you & give you FREE EVERTHING

      • Cliffystones

It’s usually not the “rich guy” at the top that does the disrespecting. It’s the stuffed suits that position themselves in “middle management” that create the biggest problems. Obonehead is the world class example of one!

      • Bill

Only 30 years? Why not say 100 years? I suppose the rulers of ancient Persia respected the poor? Or Chavez in Venesuela, or Castro, or Arafat – socialist, or collectivists all. And we see they all are living the same standad as the people they “respect”. So to all you Socialists out there, why do you spend your time being envious of others who worked hard – and sometimes that means they were lucky – and he WAS a working stiff who took chances, worked hard and succeeded so only a fool (or jealous Socialist) would not respect that.
What is your excuse for being a failure?

      • vicki

        Charles Arthur Williams says:
“He speaks about disrespect for the rich. The rich have been disrespecting the working man for 30 yrs.”

Respect must be EARNED. There is no moral nor legal reason why the rich have to offer ANY respect for those that are not. In the specific case implied the worker must EARN respect. That is best done by working smart. (Work smarter, not harder). The respect is shown in many ways including promotions, increases in pay etc.

Throwing a temper tantrum with all your buddies (going out on strike) is NOT a way for you to earn the respect of your employer.

      • Nadzieja Batki

So why don’t you become one of those rich which you denigrate. Yours is simply a case of coveting and envy. You won’t do anything to better yourself.

      • eddie47d

Working people don’t need anymore wedgees from Corporates. If they can’t show respect for those who do the work for them then they shouldn’t receive any in return.

      • Vicki

        eddie47d says:
“Working people don’t need anymore wedgees from Corporates. If they can’t show respect for those who do the work for them then they shouldn’t receive any in return.”

And your point? Working is not about earning respect. It is about making money. Business works to earn money from customers. Employees (you know, the people called workers by liberals) work to EARN money from businesses.

Bottom line. They all WORK to EARN money.

        • actual socialist

Vicki respect may not be the point of work in and of itself but i think that as the ones responcible for biulding this nation the working class deserves some respect

    • DINA

You are right!! I think it is strange how most foreiners can see what’s happening & alot of American’s can not. It is so sad!!! I love my country & I want to save it!!!
IF WE DON’T HAVE FREEDOM AND God, WE HAVE NOTHING and we will be nothing but slaves to SOCIALISTS & COMMUNISTS & RADICAL MUSLIMS!!!

  • northbrook

More people are realizing the threat that Obama and his policies represent to this country. More reasons that we need to eliminate Obama from the office of the President in November. Vote Republican to have an alternative to to prevent this nations destruction.

    • Robert Smith

Do you mean like the stock market crashing? Oops it’s doing very well. Housing is better. Jobs are IMPROVING, not going into the tank lie they were under Bush.

Keep the recovery going, vote Obama.

      Rob

      • macawma

        Robert,
Were you born with this gift of ignorance, or is it something you work ardently for?

      • daniel

Better do some homework. The stock market has fewer participants than before. They are just trading in larger numbers that is all. Not really counts as recovering. Watch the stock market if Obama is re-elected. It will drop hard before the New Year. The jobs numbers as you know are questionable at best. Inflation at the consumer level is heating up and you want to re-elect Obama? Remember Glass Steagall? Unless I am mistaken Clinton signed that. I believe Fannie Mae was going to be audited because Bush was concerned about its structuring. I believe Barney Frank and friends stopped that. And You want to vote for the people responsible for this mess? Unbeleveable.

      • eddie47d

So you can’t stand an American who was born in Hawaii but will fawn all over a billionaire who was born in Hungary! Those masterful “trading firms” helped many of your crony capitalists to gain great wealth at the expense of our economy. Peterffy may be a nice guy too or just another Wall Street shark unwilling to pay his fair share in his adopted country.

        • karen

Vote third party for someone with a bit of integrity and intelligence. End this purchase of the White House by Super Pac vested interest corrupt liars. We are the laughingstock of the world. Don’t confuse laziness with fear. We are in mortal meat packages and can only win by increasing our numbers that say NO.

He is talking a language that Obama and his cohorts do not understand unfortunately. They think money grows on a printing press, business people have nothing to do with the creation of wealth or jobs and should be eternally grateful to these idiots in government for their very existence. These folks ‘ who never built that ‘ should actually humble themselves before the almighty Obama, who to his worshippers, knows all, sees all, hears all and above all creates all, but remains a conman idiot in a suit. Him and his ilk do not realize the dangerous games they play. Not all Americans are that stupid or that gullible and can work out for themselves when thay are being conned. The time approaches when these who should be prosecuted for fraud are going to be in serious trouble. When the penny drops the proverbial hits the fan.

Really? “Not all Americans are that stupid or that gullible and can work out for themselves when thay are being conned.”

pete says, “They think money grows on a printing press, … … Him [Obama] and his ilk do not realize the dangerous games they play. ”

That could be ascribed to both Republican and Democrat alike since neither are interested in stopping the Federal Reserve, and both parties promote the Imperial policies which rely on such central bank to fund the empire.

It is a dangerous game. And it doesn’t matter which of the two parties are in ‘power’, no problems at home can/will be fixed until Imperialism in the hearts and minds of Americans (military policies of nation building and policing the world) are abandoned, and the issuing power of money is taken from the central bank and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.

  • http://gillysrooms.blogspot.com GILLY FROM AUSTRALIA

Where has Thomas Peterffy been all these years, hes been sleeping…we already are under socialist rule both in USA & Australia. Socialist rule is where the government controls the economy in such a way as to control businesses to make enough profits to be able to take [steal] a cut from those that are successful to pay for social services and government workers who otherwise would not be able to earn a living.

To this end the social services and government policing workers have taken over to ensure that businesses dont get away from paying their cut all the while the government and Congress like to make it look like that businesses are in really in control.. Does that sound like a legalised Mafia now operating in our countries.?

TAXATION IS THEFT WHATEVER WAY YOU COUNT IT OR TAKE IT.

I’m surprised people still want to operate under such a supressive regime, yet they continue to do so…working hard and paying up to their rulers. We have all been hoodwinked thinking we have democracy and freedom. What a laugh.

The government is treating as if we ARE THEIR BUSINESS,

    THEIR PROFIT CENTRE,

    THEIR MEAL TICKET.

Just turn on the spigot, pay 15% tax and lay back on easy street. I bet Obama or any President works a thousand times harder than anyone in the land of Oz called Wall Street. eddie I am disappointed. You forgot to mention who created and maintained the ability of the Wall Street crowd to make their fortunes as well as who benefitted from them. I will give you a clue. It was the democrats with help from republicans. Yes, the truth is democrats helped to create the 1 percent and you should know that and I hope you forgot to include that into your responses. So in all truthfulness it can be said that progressives created the 1 percenters, created the OWS, and contributed to the unemployment figures.
BTW I did not look at this mans’ income. I looked at where he came from. I have had friends tell me the same things he spoke about that were from his neck of the woods. That is what I paid attention to.

What those who want Mr. Obama to write history by becoming “America’s first African-American president” ignore is that his father was ethnically Arabic, with only 1 relative – a maternal grandparent, ethnically African Negro….That means that Mr. Obama is 50% Caucasian from his mother’s side, and 43.75% Arabic, and 6.25% African Negro from his father’s side.
The other reality about obama is that he comes from an Arabic family with the specific heritage of owning black slaves.

As Mr. Peterffy ~ clearly stated within the text of his video ~ this gentleam came from a nation that was impoverished by { selfserving ~ lustful ~ small minded leaders } who ~ sully everything they come in contact with; aka ~ Socialist.

      >Thus your opinion ~ has less value than what one flush’s down the toilet daily,

Perhaps if you got off your “FAT LAZY BUTT” ~ and worked toward a goal – even you may make it some day. But saddly ~ thats a real problem with people with “NO ~ Courage,” as well ~ NO VISION ~ and lets not even talk about your being a total “control freak” as all socialist really are.

JFTR ~ based on your post~ you also have quite little in the way of any form of education other than being a mindless little parrot, good on ya!

Peace and Love ~ even ~ to the ignorant who can’t comprehend anything past their own lust.

I find it amazing that an Eastern European managed to get so much money.Living in Romania to allow my wife time with her family has taught me a great deal about being American, and how it all changed when we took so much for granted. Did any of us care or even know what Glass Stegal was about when Clinton opened the door to the criminals who now run the show. Congress was too busy to think about it, or Osama, with its dedication to issues of controlling sex and weed and lining their pockets. What has changed is the magnitude, the anger, the extremes, but if you read most posts on the internet, the clear thinkers are still few and far between.

I don’t know if its envy or what…but the left has got to know that the country was founded on capitalism. That is what makes it work. Everyone is not going to be rich, but so what. Sometimes rich isn’t the path to happiness. But rich make jobs for folks that want to work and do something to be proud of. And to contribute to society. We need electricians, secretaries, trash guys, pest control people, retail sales ,etc. To enslave the masses, by making them dependent on government is like the slavery of old. No voice, no honor, no ambition, no sense of accomplishment. It is not fair to them.

      • The Big Easy

@jan——-You have to realize that many out there are NOTHING more than ‘mooochers’,who are happy to get the ‘crumbs’ from the ELITIST,and they only have to ‘SELL’ their vote to continue to get those ‘crumbs’,and those ‘elected’ mental-midgets are happy to continue to give those ‘crumbs’ to the ‘mooochers’ as long as it comes from the AMERICAN TAX PAYERS POCKETS.

      • Jan Deen

My understanding is that it is called Capitalism because one needs capital to play the game. If we stopped worshipping the so called Rich via our cult of Celebrity, and stopped serving them so willingly, it might become a trickle up system by earned respect and contribution. We have witnessed the result of the Wild Wild West and its ultimate conclusions, maybe we need to punish a few wrong doings and not be distracted by obvious cheerleader tactics for our specialness that is no longer so special.

  • Chris

Jan Eric Deen says: I believe that the man Obama became the puppet once inside the power structure of a government that allowed its President to be killed. He has a wife and children and is not the fearless warrior we would hope, but probably do not deserve.

This can sadly be true. I remember a while ago Jesse Ventura stating his reason for not running for President was the fear of assassination…….and I believe it. There are terrorists we need to fear right inside this country…….and they are Americans…….disgusting crap……”they” are the ones who need to be assassinated!

There is a price to pay for active participation is a society filled with social injustice and organized crime too big to fail. Most of us run the other way when we get a taste of the power of darkness and to what lengths it will go. Send this letter to everyone you know….because it sums up the dire state of affairs after 4 years of obama…
This company employs 7000 people…5000 less than it did 5 yrs ago….Mr Siegel and his wife are well known…
    Subject: Message from David Siegel

Karen, Men like David Siegal are not the topic thinking people are focused on. The deregulation of Wall Street and Banks too big to fail gambling our money and using us as suckers is the source of everyones anger. The fact that no one is held accountable and that CEO types continue to reward themselves in the rip off after receiving bail out funds is what we mean by the one per cent. Americans can go to Casinos. We do not have to have bankers who are meant to be responsible and thoughtful stealing from the Candy Store.

Do you think the priority of the GOP has changed since we involved our Military in yet another war to keep the dollars flowing in what Dwight Eisenhauer said was the greatest threat to our country–the Military Industrial Complex. You can have a job with those guys anytime you like. Don’t forget to salute. Consider a third party and change the Matrix. It is intended that we feel the despair so that we will have gratitude for a handout. We are overproducing and overpopulating but Pro Life says thats great and we are seen as nothing but consumers. We are taught to think jobs are the answer. Vocation and sense of purpose is the solution. No one has the answer but you.

The priority of the GOP is conservatively based….stretching that into intentional wars?…hmmm Basing an opinion on the decisions of prior Presidents and the state of affairs at the time of those decisions would be prudent however, I agree in theory we are involved in far too many….and I agree that there is alot of profit involved at the tremendous expense of human lives and livlihoods. Obama seems to relish war…we bombed Libya for 3 months without congressional approval so its difficult to place all the blame for wars on the GOP.

Nor would I, Karen. You must be as upset about Peace Prizes unmerited as well. Perhaps my only point in this conversation is to once again try to take the focus from manipulated topics promoted by Corp Media to individual thought and value. Donkey Elephant smokescreen is still having the effect it desires. Look at comments on the internet, where you will see name calling and blame in abundance, yet we think we are still the special folks who built what is great about this country. The disrespect for women, including the gimmick of Palin promoted to iconic status is an apparent blind spot. We fought in the sixties for Womens rights and thought racism was history, not to mention marajuana, free speech and good music. What you see is retro devolution being promoted by two sides of the same coin. Liberal Americanism is not agression and materialism. Conservativism is not religious fundamentalism and lack of principles. What you see is the Beast of lower humanity running the show.

Jan, Those of us who have taken the time to do some research realize our government is being run by wealthy, powerful outsiders who will do whatever necessary to steer this country in their preferred direction….all in the name of power and greed. I would guess that nearly all of the currently living Presidents are part of that group…certainly Bush Sr, Clinton, and Bush jr….and I expect obama has been initiated into that club as well….After all, he appears to have been taken under ClintonS wing. Anyone who dares challenge that power pyramid will be murdered….just look at the Clinton trail of tales….

Big Easy: Everything that is Big seems so Easy for you. Why don’t you run for office and demonstrate some of those skills you have named for yourself? What was that great line from full metal jacket “Didn’t your mommy give you enough love?” Such expertise, we are in awe. Whattaguy!
Vicki: Those you think have created clever ways to make money you admire are called inside traders and con men dear. Those who have left large banking concerns that were once fairly well run institutions because their conscience bothered them have in fact made statements. This is not my opinion. I’m sure you think robo signing for purposes of morgage fraud is just a short cut for clever folk as well. Unless you are a big fish with a good attorney, its time to revise your thinking.

Karen–Research is studying history and patterns, it also involves creating a foundation in the history of ideas, and observations of the changes in language. I will be the first to admit my ignorance of languages, which seems to be a particularly American thing. As well as contributing to numerous publications, I have launched with partners and maintained several magazines and I understand the necessity of knowing what you are talking about in a general sense as well as being able to site specifics. I spent time in jail in my student days of protest to the Vietnam war and have an FBI file that pops up every time I get a traffic ticket. I have no choice but to research after learning the price of ignorant and naive behavior first hand.
As for presidents, those I admire are Ike and JFK from my lifetime. Clinton is an example of a clever man and is admirable for that fact alone. The Bush family is a dynasty and a good example of what America was trying to escape from under British Rule. My late insider contacts told me a great deal about what was in fact happening and my scepticism as a result inclines me toward crackpots and conspiracy theorists having at least a sometimes valid point to make to the hypnotised concensus reality. Unfortunately, it seems like many have jumped on the conspiracy bandwagon with no references in experience, and most homework is the result of what sounds good, is sensational, and has some kind of emotional appeal to those addicted to video games and bad narrative.

To our Socialist Friend: So far I have managed not to pick up a check from our Government. I confess to having got by with a little help from my friends, but I have had to start from scratch countless times not having capital to carry the idea to the goal line. I placed a bet on myself, and for the most part I have failed, though good work has come of my effort and I have helped others. There is no back patting here. Few of my most brilliant friends have realized their vision but died trying, and the quality of the process produced moments of true magic.
There is little value in Socialism, though Marxist thought was interesting, as was the existential movement. It turns out that people are not concepts, much less isms. Behaviorism to my way of thinking is a model for mechanical man, and that is where the work and the fight lies. Become your own individual and friend to yourself, Socialist Friend. Dont be so concerned about the systems, but try to avoid the traps they will inevitably put you in if you become a True Believer. Read the great authors, then indulge in foolish comments by folks like us . . .
