Housing Complex Bans The Display Of American Flag

Housing Complex Bans The Display Of American Flag
A housing complex in Massachusetts wants its tenants to remove their flags.

If you live in Wrentham, Mass., you might have to take your flag inside. It’s no longer the Fourth of July, so the flag has to go. At least that’s what the Garden Lane public housing complex told its tenants.

Those living in the complex found a taped note on their door Wednesday morning. The note read: “Wrentham Housing Authority has been informed that the public display of the American flag in common areas is not permitted. …Flags may be visible through the apartment windows, but may not be displayed on the exterior of the buildings or on the ground around the buildings.”

Allegedly, a tenant complained about the display of flags on July 4. So the housing complex took action.

Barbara Marshall, an 82-year-old resident displaying a flag, was devastated. “I’ve always had a flag. I’m very upset. All my family is indebted to the veterans, to that flag,” she said through tears.

Marshall, who has no intention of taking down her flag, is planning to contact Scott Brown, a U.S. Senator and Wrentham resident.

“I don’t care about the gardening, but don’t take my flag,” she asserted.

        Dear FF,

There are many parts of Mass that don’t allow the “American” Flag to be displayed at any time – saddly thats from years ago.
Also please do keep in mind that the flag shown in the picture is the “American Flag”

The {UNITED States} flag is the flag of the “City State of the District of Columbia.”
That flag has only 3 starts for the Three City States of the Old Blood Line of the 13 Familys. And two RED Bars for the noted Blood Lines.

If the American people would open their eyes and see whats been done in their name let alone – with thier CONSENT, even be it by 100% FRAUD by the Criminals who run this nation let alone the world.
Perhaps just perhaps they would take back their nation.

        Peace and Love

Every Day I see something that Scares me More and More! We need to STOP the destruction of OUR Country and Values. Stand UP and FIGHT BACK!!!!!

  • JimH

If they were diplaying a Mexican flag, everyone would be afraid to gripe. Some one may accuse them of being a bigot.
You go Barbara, Keep the U.S. flag flying. Get the other tenants to join in.

  • Vigilant

It was the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development that made the decision. The People’s Republic of Taxachusetts needs a thorough fumigation. Those commissioners should be tarred, feathered and run out of town.

But before that is done, they perhaps should be questioned as to why “flag-holding hardware is affixed to doors throughout the complex.” (

  • jopa

Another bogus story. If you live in a development that has areas marked as common areas or grounds it is not a persons private property for them to do as they please. The article does not state if they can place a flag or not on their own house as they wish.I live in a development with strict rules and they never complain about my flag, just had one issue when they thought my Christmas lights were up for too long.

    • AirCav

I don’t agree with you at all. This is The United States of America. Many have fought and many have died for what that flag stands for. If I have to explain to you what that means, leave the county!

jopa is a worshipful deciple of his Uncle Saul. He dreams of the day he will become a resident of Hobbs community.!

    • Vigilant

jopa misspeaks again with “The article does not state if they can place a flag or not on their own house as they wish.”

jopa, are you having a problem with the English language again? The article plainly says, “Flags may be visible through the apartment windows, but may not be displayed on the exterior of the buildings or on the ground around the buildings.”

      You’re welcome.

      • jopa

Vig.It looks as though they may be talking about the community buildings and the common ground around them. What may be throwing the article off is the use of the term buildings in reference to homes. If they don’t let them display the flags on their personal homes there is something wrong there.

    • Vigilant

…and jopa shows again a total failure to grasp the facts, with “I live in a development with strict rules and they never complain about my flag,”

Do you live in a PUBLIC housing complex, which the article covers?

That’s two strikes. Had you blathered longer, I’m sure we would have found the third strike.

      • jopa

I did miss the part of Public Housing this does make it a totally different story.Sorry, my bad.I don’t know how they operate in public housing.

      • Jay

Hmm, nice catch Vigilant. Well well, jopa…

  • Big Woody

Again we see “public housing authority” as the who that has issued this ban. Name the person or persons that have issued this edict. Put their picture on the front page of all area neswpapers. Local TV. Let all their peers and neighbors know what dunces they are and subject them to the ridicule they deserve. AND LEAVE YOUR FLAGS FLYING AS THEY SHOULD BE.

  • ozark12

I fought for that flag in Vietnam and I’ll be dammed if I would remove mine.

  • Randy G

I would tell them, ” It’s on MY house, it’s not a common area.” If they don’t pay the taxes on it, it’s not their area.

    • jopa

Randy ;If it’s public housing we all own it and they should come and ask any and all Americans if the flags should come down. Then you would see the flags flying without backlash.

      • mamazoomba

Yet they instead, settled with ONE complainant…

” (Allegedly), A tenant complained about the display of flags on July 4. So the housing complex took action.”…

        That’s a hell of a majority.

  • Pritty Brains

This is totally a crock of cow caca. I lovelovelove my flag and everything it means and represents and it would be a cold day in hell before I would remove it. I’d relocate first. Then sue them for as much as I could for infringing on my rights to display the flag of my country within the borders of my country. Amazing the twisted audacity of some people.

  • Frank B.

And You Thought You were FREE!!
Your unalienable rights are being removed one by one, and MOST
of you are sitting on your a$$es and won’t stand up and fight!
    Such a pity!

  • Silas Longshot

There’s the key, it’s a ” public housing” thing, and that means you must comply with the socalist mentality now running these places. You are not permitted to be a patriot any longer, because you’re indicating preference for inidividual freedom. That’s a clear indication you’re ‘not’ complying with the socilaist agenda that demands conformity to the ‘groupthink’.
    click the name.

  • Corsica

So ONE tenant complains and the frightened, spineless housing authority rushes to tell the majority the new rules?? And is this tenant an American or some foreign illegal pos that somehow scammed their way into sec 8 housing, like so many of them have.

  • ny native

Seems the Housing authority put their foot in mouth . This is a complex comprised of apartment buildings not individual houses .The law states there can be no personal articles around common place grounds with the EXCEPTION of the US flag even mounted on exterior of any apartment building within this complex. Someone there received a written complaint and they fumbled .

  • Palin16

“All this just for a damn flag?”….Michelle Obama

    • Kinetic1

      “I hate this country!” Palin16
Where did I get this quote that I have attributed to you? From the same place you went for yours; someone’s imagination. For those of you who are not aware, there is a video of Michelle Obama saying something to her husband during a 9/11 ceremony. The flag was being folded while a parade of pipers plays. Watching the event together, Michelle leans over and says something to the President and he nods in agreement. To some, she seems to scowl and shake her head.

So, with no sound and no one close enough to hear and confirm what she said, how did we get to this point? Glenn Beck. Glenn thought Michelle had said something like “Look at that damn flag” or “All that for a flag?” He based his theory on her past comments about changing tradition. He asked his intern, Adam for his opinion (Adam has been deaf for most of his life, so he reads lips) and he felt that she had said something about folding the flag, but that would not sway Glenn’s opinion.

So what did Michelle Obama say? I haven’t got a clue. I don’t think she looked disgusted, and it’s just as common to shake ones head when considering how impressive a sight is as it is when considering how repulsive, so what can you say? No one knows for certain whether, as Beck says she was speaking against the ceremony or commenting on the grandeur. Heck, for all we know she was commenting on the loss of lives on 9/11! Maybe she asked if he really wanted fillets for dinner and was disappointed when he nodded yes! The point remains, non of us knows enough to say without question that her remark was “All this just for a damn flag?”, let alone sighting it as a direct quote. Unless, of course the venom of hatred that clearly runs thorough your veins has given you super human powers?

      • Palin16

Obviously, you’re the one watching Glenn Beck, not me.

      • Palin16

Alright folks, watch it here and make up your own minds. Do a google and you’ll discover many lipreaders are convinced Michelle said “all this for a damn flag”.Think about it, she is a one-world government type and to her any flag (except an earth flag) is a sign of devisiveness.

      • mamazoomba

Read MY lips: My Gawd! Here comes more Obama (expletive deleted).

I think she said, “Did congress really call you a fag?”

    • Dave67

Another Palin 16 post, anther lie

      • Palin16

“For the first time in my life, I am proud to be an American.”….Michelle Obummer.

      • Jay

That statement alone, should dispel all doubt. The reason the first-lady is finally proud of Amerika, is that it is being re-created to serve the current president’s goal. Or rather, the long coveted goal of the globolist-despots, who speak through the current puppet in office.

  • deepizzaguy

Nuts. Keep displaying the flag. It is our country.

  • ricog37

The Freedom to Fly the American Flag Act of 2005 should be amended to include public housing complexes.

  • teaparty13

If they ever told me that I’d have to take down my flag, I’d put out a few more, along with some Don’t Tread on Me, AZ’s Bite Me..IT’S MY COUNTRY, IT’s MY FREEDOM OF SPEECH.. Since when is it a crime to fly the Flag?.if the person that complained doesn’t like it, there are a few commie countries that would welcome them.

  • Gordon

This is already old news and the action has been recinded.

  • Teresa M.
  • Jeremy Leochner

Very sad. I don’t see any thing wrong with displaying an American Flag. Admittedly it shouldn’t be out after the sun sets but that’s something pretty much everyone follows already.

The only time people should be asked to remove the American flag is when it is tattered and torns which happens over time and a sign of distrespect in which case it should be exchanged for a new flag or in the event it is considered a terrorist risk when some terrorists or vandals may assume the building to be an embassy or government building. I’m not too sure about flag protocols in America but the flag should always be exchanged as soon as it gets torn or soiled.
