Holder Did It, But He’s Gonna Investigate To Make Sure, There’s Swill In Jersey, Someone’s Breaking In, Can’t You Ask Him To Go Away?: Friday Morning News Roundup 5-24-2013

Here is a collection of some of the stories that Personal Liberty staffers will be keeping an eye on throughout the day. Click the links for the full stories.

  • NBC News is reporting that Attorney General Eric Holder signed off on the controversial search warrant that lead to FOX News reporter James Rosen being named as a possible “co-conspirator” for reporting (i.e., doing his job) the information he got from one of his sources.

  • Not to worry though, President Barack Obama has appointed Holder to investigate… Holder. He should be able to get to the bottom of it pretty quickly.

  • Twenty-nine restaurants and bars in New Jersey, including 13 TGI Fridays, stand accused of serving “swill” to their customers and charging premium prices for it. One establishment even substituted caramel-colored rubbing alcohol and one used dirty water. It certainly gives new meaning to the phrase, “What have you guys been drinking?” Maybe that explains the election of Chris Christie?

  • A 911 dispatcher in Oregon took a call from a woman claiming her ex-boyfriend — who had assaulted her once before — was breaking into the house and she feared for her life. The dispatcher told her they were short on cops because of budget cuts and asked, “Can you ask him to go away?” It worked about as well as you’d expect. Thankfully, the woman survived the assault and Michael Bellah is now in the pokey. But the sheriff seemed to blame the victim saying, “If you don’t pay the bill, you don’t get the service.” I wonder if she wishes she’d had a gun?
