High Noon In America

January 18, 2011 by

High Noon In America

Putting aside the somewhere-between-creepy-and-supremely-twisted electioneering with which the Democrats infused President Barack Obama’s “return to civility” speech last week in the wake of the Tucson tragedy, the honest observer has to offer credit where credit is due. Obama’s address — while certainly no “Morning in America” — didn’t, well, suck. Let’s call it “predictable acceptability.” Obama struck all the right notes of measured non-partisanship. He issued a reasonable call to people across the fruited plain to “use their words.”

So, it’s a bit of shame that his party missed his message. Perhaps they were too busy printing the partisan t-shirts which they issued to attendees at an event which was billed as a memorial/prayer service for the victims of a freak show reject, the accused shooter Jared Lee Loughner; but descended into a “what dead and/or injured people?” carnival atmosphere which evinced memories of the appallingly grave-dancing political rally which replaced Senator Paul Wellstone’s 2002 memorial service.

While Obama endeavored to quell the partisan fires which had little to nothing to do with Loughner’s break with reality, the Democrats kicked into high gear their desperate effort to handcuff Loughner’s murderous rampage to pretty much everyone who has ever knocked back a cup of hot Tetley’s.

Against this backdrop of finger-pointing and flame-throwing, a number of members of Congress have announced a bipartisan effort to turn the State of the Union into a Congressional love-in. Americans who have grown used to seeing the two parties (and Bernie Sanders) separate like the boys and girls at a junior-high school dance will evidently be treated to Democrats like Senator Chuck Schumer holding hands with Republicans like Senator Olympia Snowe.

Some pundits have suggested that the Democrats are pushing for the mixed seating to cover up their numerical minority. That’s possible. Others claim that both sides are simply making another hollow symbolic gesture. That’s also entirely likely. We are, after all, talking about politicians.

The image of Nancy Pelosi proverbially sitting in Eric Cantor’s lap, while marginally unsettling, doesn’t fill me with a sense of burgeoning civility in American politics. I know that the moment the cameras have been turned off they’re going to head back to their respective sides of the Capitol and begin plotting to undermine each other with every tool at their disposal.

The people of this nation don’t require bipartisan symbolism from their elected representatives. We require greatness — or at least an era of limited embarrassment. Instead of vacuous pronouncements about political cooperation between adversaries from both sides of an institution which enjoys approximately the same popularity as a cat in the dog pound, perhaps those who tread the halls of American governmental authority should consider actual accomplishment.

The Republicans, their numbers swelling with the addition of Tea Party-backed conservatives, should break with their own traditions of grandiose rhetoric and actually effect real change. It goes without saying that the new Republican Congressional majority is a direct result of voter dissatisfaction with the borderline fascist government-by-fiat proclivities of the Democrats. They should seize the opportunity to reward the electorate’s trust.

Go ahead and sit with your little Democrat friends at the State of the Union, Republicans. Heck, go ahead and rework the office assignments so that Pelosi gets a little desk in the corner of Speaker John Boehner’s office. However, don’t be swayed by the plaintive cries of bipartisan cooperation from the same Democrats who have attempted to connect Loughner to every Republican since William McKinley.

You’re there to do a job. Stand up for the beleaguered victims of years of Democrat economic mismanagement. Help restore respect for the individual which is burned into the lines of the U.S. Constitution. Provide a bulwark against the statist steamroller of Obamacare, of the constant incursions against free speech, of the right to keep and bear arms, of the right to show due respect to the Almighty (or not, if that’s your choice).

If the Democrats require a boost to their self-esteem, let them seek therapy. Maybe they’ll get free t-shirts.

With the Tucson tragedy behind us, and as we get back to business the nation will see whether Barry truly has learned his lesson or not. The memorial speech was more like a circus,a campaign atmosphere masked by a false sincerity to appease the very Republicans that gave him the November ass-kicking.The rhetoric tone may be subdued, but the focus of delivering political promises made will not be.It will be irrelevant whether bi-partisan seat sharing occurs or not, these are the same individuals that forced numerous bills upon the people without reading them, nor debating them. The 112th Congress has a job to do and better do it well, The Voters are watching.

    • patrick H.T. paine

      “To conquer, first divide!”

My president can read, yay. He is a master of what has been
demonstrated to be meaningless rhetoric which his previous
record clearly demonstrated was without substance, and as
his actions as president have confirmed. He is a politician,
and having been “elected”, his job now is obvious.

Still this speech is useful, although amazingly, I haven’t
seen anyone who has even indicated that they were actually
paying attention………and it is a major CLUE in the
assessment of just how far we have strayed from where we
      began.

It came when my president attempted to ( and succeeded ) in
tugging the heart strings of the people in citing the death
of the 9 year old, and a string of phrases, employing the
“our democracy” image. The most glaring one’s were “violence in”
and “the promise of”………But my president, as a havard educated?
lawyer, “violence IS the promise of democracy”…..it
is WHY we are NOT ONE…….and something that as a member of
an oppressed minority, you should be quite sensitive too.

Yet, politicians and pundits use this phrase all the time, and
it should be a singular WARNING to any citizen seeking to restore
our REPUBLIC, to disregard anything further that passes from
      their lips.

We are not a DEMOCRACY…..we are, unfortunately, a totally
corrupted republic…..whose officials, elected, appointed or
hired, have managed with smoke and mirrors to circumvent the
constraints of the document which makes their authority
      legitimate.

Consider the following choice of the two prevailing theories
regarding the Constitution……living breathing or dead (scalia).

It is neither, so both are wrong……as is the notion, that it
requires “interpretation” and that this “power” rests with the
“supreme court”. ( you won’t find this in Article 3 )

So until, citizens, start demanding an intelligent discussion of
the Constitution ( which no one in the mainstream of anything
is willing to do ) you can simply await the “promise of our
      democracy” to be fullfilled.

      • chick

WT—-well said too bad most people don’t pay enought attention to the real world.. we live for ourselves, and the heck with everyone else.. they just dont care what happen’s to this country.. soon we will be in the street’s, like other part’s of the world.. just hope that it’s not too late

      • bob wire

you lost me with “the President can’t read” part.

Care to start again? Save you falsehoods for last! That way people can read your “stuff” before they realize you’re predisposition to embellish and make sport of facts.

        • patrick H.T. paine

Sorry you got lost Bob…..clearly you can’t read, but here is a solution to that……next time you try to quote some one….try highlighting the text (that you want to use) and hit control c……that way, you have the actual word used….”can”, instead of
can’t……..probably won’t help with comprehension of meaning,
but at least the attempted distortion or dismissal, will require a
bit more intellectual effort……and who knows, with enough practice
you may actually develop critical thinking skills.

        • Vicki

bob wire says (apparently to patrick H.T. paine):
“you lost me with “the President can’t read” part.”

          ???

I rechecked what Patrick said (even used the find command) and the FIRST use of the word “can’t” was in your post.

What Patrick said was “My president can read, yay.” which is obvious cause Obama speaks so well in front of a teleprompter.

Can you quote what it was that Patrick said that gave you the impression that Patrick meant that Obama can’t read? I assume you were talking about the current President and not some past one :)

          • bob wire

~ Oops! I did miss read it, my sincere apology.

I miss read his superfluous statement.

            “My president can read, yay”

            su·per·flu·ous (sə pʉr′flo̵̅o̅ əs, so̵̅o̅-)

            adjective

            1. being more than is needed, useful, or wanted; surplus; excessive
            2. not needed; unnecessary; irrelevant: a superfluous remark
            3. Obsolete extravagant; prodigal

Was there ever any doubt in “anyone’s” mind? I certainly hope not.

          • bob wire

Okay? you lose me with a superfluous statement early and I didn’t read the rest of your post then. ~ How’s that?

          • Vicki

            Much better. Thanks :)

    • Vigilant

Am I the only one to notice the crass illustration that comes at the head of this article? If that’s not disrespect for the flag of the United States of America, then I don’t know what is.

It doesn’t matter that the photo was staged to illustrate divisiveness. The photo should never have been taken. Shame on you!

      • crystals10

        Vigilant:
I noticed that too. It actually looks as though they are “having fun” disrespecting our beloved flag. I agree that show of divisiveness should never have been pictured.

        • juswonderin

I agree also! This country has lost the respect that our flag demands, and I am proud that many of us have not lost that respect! So much of our culture is being slowly removed & replaced with illegal foreigners; not altogether Mexicans, but many others that are working to divide our nation & I agree that united we stand or divided we fall. So many young people are being blindsided by all the erroneous teaching in the colleges & other arenas by treating our Constitution as tho it should be folded up & put away by the extremist liberals that are successfully “getting it done” by removing God or even the concept of God out of the student’s ears & out of our country by one person, Michael Newdow. We’re standing on the edge of anarchy, riots & the same thing that’s happening all over the world. It will only get worse, if we do not adhere to our culture, Constitution & our God.

          • kate8

I don’t actually find the picture offensive. It’s certainly not like a liberal hate-America statement. Quite the opposite. Rather than showing disrespect and encouraging more divisiveness, I think it is a sobering picture of what we have become.

Unfortunately, ideas of “civility” and “compromise” only mean one side giving in to the other. And we all know which side usually concedes.

We have come down to an actual war. We will either work out our differences and find a way to coexist, or the Left will conquer and silence their opponents through FORCE.

That’s an idea worth opposing with all we’ve got.

          • Vicki

If we truly respect the flag and the Republic for which it stands then we also respect freedom of expression even though that expression might be as in the picture above or in burning of a flag by the owner of the fabric. I.E. burn your own copy of the flag not MY copy.

We can still take offense at the expression and use our first amendment right to NOT associate with the people disrespecting said flag. Freedom of Association necessitates the obvious freedom to NOT associate as well.

      • http://none Alex

        Ugliest flag ever….who cares?

        • kate8

Alex – Now THAT is offensive.

Surely there is another country that would be more to your liking. Say, Russia, N. Korea or Iran. They like people who hate America.

        • JeffH

Alex, based purely on your comment can I assume “Alex” is a nickname or shortened version of the name “Alexei”?

        • Vicki

Alex you don’t like the choice of design for the flag. What are your opinions for the Republic for which it stands?

        • http://gunner689 gunner689

Alex !! is that little maggot back again ? I thought his mother took his computer privilages away.

        • http://naver samurai

The words that come to my mind to describe you Alex were said by Sergeant Slaughter:

“You slime, you scum, you maggot!”

These seem to fit you and you lack of patriotism well. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

    • refuse2lose

Do you really believe that Obama, who has done more damage to our country than any terrorist could ever think of doing, has “SEEN THE LIGHT”? Be real….. he saw the poll numbers which showed the majority of Americans didn’t think conservatives “stoked the fires”and he fine tuned his speech to appeal to the masses.

  • American Patriot

Americas false prophet Barry “Soetoro” Obama along with his circle of evil hearted minion’s is nothing but a disgrace and insult to America, It’s people, This is not what America or American’s as a whole are all about. We The People deserve better than this clown we all have in the White house. With all the constant injury being placed upon the innocent American people. I expect to see some real positive change in America. And, it wont be by those people in Washington. It will be the passion for life, liberty, and the persute of happiness. Along with compassion and love that the American people will show towards each other. as well as those that lost their loved ones in Arizona this past week. May God Bless and keep them close to him through these tough times. As well as all Americans. GOD BLESS AMERICA! We are now awake Washington! And watching. That goes for you too Janet Napolatano. We The People will not stand for your “FALSE” Home land security scam. Mr. OBAMA, YOU LIE! and, We all see that now.

    • Roger

Thank you, sir, for typifying your genre.

      • lallyby

Yes by all means let us make fun of those who actually state their opine, right or wrong, instead of embellishing it to make it more palatable.Let us cover-up the fact that the average American citizen is really pissed-off at the(any/party)politician.Now lets have a scathing dialogue about right this and left that.Meanwhile back at the point of reality, that seems to go unspoken,we are still pissed-off at the politician. But we can just sweep that part under the rug Right/Left?Is there a reason we are angry with politicians? It is because they choose to ignore our opine,in favor of doing what they feel is best for us,despite the fact that we disagree with that which they propose to do.They like those that champion them, think they know what is best.Mother knows what is best.Do they propose to become my mother?Just play with the toys which we allow you to posess, and look the other way while we take care of you.Is that it?I dont like being treated like a red-headed stepchild,do any of you?Apparently those who champion this sort of thing think you do.In other words take your medicine like a big boy,but let us wipe your bottoms like a tyke.Mixed signals keep us guessing. Is it any wonder, that I am pissed-off?

    • castaway

DO you mean to tell me that you did not know what he was before You voted for that ASS. I had the brains to not vote for any Democrat, as I had listened to over 6 years of liberal Democrats bashing the other side, and was so tired of it I wanted to vomit.

However, none of them are worth a damn. They are all a bunch of thieves, liars, and prostitutes. If you read the Constitution of the United States of America, and the Bill of Rights, you would then know that our entire government is operating illegally.

In addition to this, we are also instructed to rid ourselves of a disfunctional government like we now have, and not try to fix it. It cannot be fixed, and will not be fixed. It has been this way too long, for any real change to take place.

Now what is needed, is a complete and thorough regime change/house cleaning. THis is why we have the right to bear arms. To protect ourselves from tyranny. We all need to get very serious about this and do something soon. Ranting and raving in forums is nearly useless, albeit entertaining.

      • Wanda Murline

Actually, our forefathers forsaw this event unfolding, and they wrote that it was “our right to rid ourselves of a tyranical government”. They knew this because they had just declared war on another tyranical government in England. So, we are bound by our heritage to rid outselves of this government and put in another one…by whatever means necessary.

        • Normal Guy

Your a right wing extremist who obviously has no respect for our system of government our founding fathers vision the concept and the documents created to give us a structure to build on. anyone who thinks that our current state of affairs requires some sort of coup is not a good American. You are the pawn of special interests and commercial media ventures that see profit in distorting the and attacking of our system of government, the system that our founders and patriots of the last 235 years have built.

Your position is ignorant, anti-patriotic and vile. The United States has been and should be a beacon of hope an example to live up to, if you disagree with how things are going get into the system and effect change, learn the issues and do something positive, that’s what the founders created, participatory government – suggesting that we need to storm the gates is treason – think about it. Stop listening to the right wing talk show shock jocks, they want to stir you up, they care about ratings and revenue, not about America. This debate is going to continue to grow, the issues are serious, promoting hate a rebellion is not what Americans are looking for.

          • jose rios

Well said, a beacon from where all humanity can see a brighter days ahead. Thank to this land of freedom I tasted liberty .

            Best regards

          • JeffH

NG, let it be noted your immediate and expected Alinsky based liberal tactic of name calling and complete condecention.

The only extremist here is a Marxist/socialist/communist supporter such as yourself.

          • http://gunner689 gunner689

In other words stick your head back in the sand and go back to sleep. don’t worry about a thing, Big Brother will take care of everything.

        • Vicki

How about instead of ridding ourselves of “this government” we instead use the 3 civilized boxes given to us to rid ourselves of corrupt people who do NOT honor their oath.

What we need is to return to the Constitution and properly honor it and the freedoms it protects for ALL Americans. We do that with the Soap Box (I.E. This website and talking with friends), the Jury Box where we exercise our DUTY to judge the LAW as well as the facts (www.fija.org) and at the Ballot Box where we vote Libertarian. Its the only current way to be sure.

Why Libertarian? Cause they are the ONLY party that has a platform that clearly honors the Entire Constitution for EVERYONE without any regard to suntan, sex, preferences etc.

Once they are in power we have to watch them like hawks for power can corrupt.
It is our duty to be educated and vote wisely at all times.

Do this and we, as a people, will only have to open the 4th box to repel invaders.

Individually of course we will have to open that box to defend ourselves from random muggers, rapists etc as is done millions of times each year in spite of the evils of gun control. (No cite. I used my one cite above)

        • Normal Guy

          JeffH

You really only parrot the Beck, Hannity, Limbaugh speak don’t you. Alinsky attacks – give me a break. I am a businessman; I travel extensively and work with companies all over the world. My wife runs a restaurant and catering business. I am a happy capitalist who finds the one dimensional thinking expressed on sites like this fascinatingly ignorant. The way that people will buy into conspiracy theories and the thought that all who disagree with you must be some member of an evil socialist plot. There is a danger to your twisted beliefs and there is a danger in having mass media channels feeding your paranoia. The US needs to rebuild, those who think like you will pull her down into the mud.

I am certainly not a Marxist/socialist/communist, and the rhetoric that narrow-minded zealots like you spit out really is the problem. A culture of hate, ignorance and violence is not the America that most want to live it.

I have run a number of businesses for years employing dozens of people and I really am fascinated by paranoia driven, sound bite parrots like you. I come here to see what the ignorant right is spewing because I find it fascinating to see the depths of ignorance that can be probed. I also think that it is good to disrupt this self reinforcing ignorance occasionally.

          • JeffH

…NG…you clearly parrot the teachings of Saul Alinsky and the tactics outlined in “Rules for Radicals”. If you talk like a Marxist and bark like a Marxist…then you must be a Marxist!

          • JeffH

Oh NG, thought I’d mention your comments project you to be anything but a happy guy or a proffessional. Running a business doesn’t change the facts or the way you appear.

          • libertytrain

again, the self-righteous left expounds on our faults.

          • Normal Guy

            JeffH

Well Jeff you show how ignorant beliefs can be reinforced in ignorant people. You know nothing about me but because I disagree with you you say that I must be a communist involved in conspiracies. This is clearly how you structure your many ridiculous beliefs.

Try to form some opinions based on real facts rather than your personal delusions. Not to likely is it?

          • JeffH

NG, when you start off by ridiculing and name calling, calling those with different views ignorant, dim, unseducated, right wing extremists, etc., what other conclusion should I come to? Your an “azz hole” might be a better fit but I choose not to go there. I am familiar with the Marxist/socialist/communist ideals and you seem to project and “subscribe” to those ideals so I’ll make my judgement based on those facts, nothing else!

That said, have a nice day!

          • JeffH

…oh, one more thing to mention…Alinsky and Marx say it’s OK to lie, “to cloth yourself in moral garments”, so why would I believe you in the first place?

          • HFlashman

You better watch out. If your right wing chums find out that you have been reading Marx and Aliinsky they might just decide that you are a radical lefty and out you on Fox news. I’m just looking out for your best interests.(I read Marx in economics and political science but your fascination with Alinsky is beyond me – before coming to this site I had never heard of him.)

Your indignation at me attacking your ignorant beliefs lacks credibility somehow. You and you right wing compatriots – Sorry DaveH you may be Mr. Libertarian but you are a zealot just the same, and if you plead innocence again regarding your constant personal attacks I think I will yack – are full on attack dogs and I am entirely comfortable playing on your field. If I had come to this site after the recent call for civil discourse and found something other than a pit of right wing vipers I would be happy to have a civil discourse. You and you pals are not civil so…

I know…I know…pres. Obama’s policies have been soooo terrible. Let’s just list a few which have caused catacysmic results…

      Hmmm…
=brought us back from the abyss of economic collapse

=Financial reform pushing through the biggest financial reform law since the Great Depression

=Saved the AMERICAN auto industry, hundreds of thousands of AMERICAN jobs, and made a profit for us on the deal

      =DADT is now ended

=Saved or created millions of jobs (over 3 million according to the Congressional Budget Office)

=When he was inaugarated, job losses were 500,000 per month. We are now in a positive job growth cycle showing a et gain each month

=Implemented TARP II which bailed out banks IN NEED adding paybak conditions which return postive numbers back to us

      =START Treaty

=Created and did not interfere with the Financial Federal Deficit Committee (comprised of members from both parties)

=Pushed through the popular Health Care reform (today’s polls show HCR is supported by over 60% of registered oters, and by 51% of those eligible voting age)

= Has the highest number of small business start ups in any two year period of any presidency

=reformed the Student Loan program to cut out the giveaway to the bank middlemen which lowered loan rates and garnered more monies for loans (the “middleman’ concept was implemented during the GOP Congress of early BushII as the cronies and paybacks were being made)

=Lowred taxes on the middle class (Stimulus bill) and lowered small business taxes (last tax bill..and had to cede to GOP demands to contiue the welfare tax subsidies to the walthy for another two years costing us $600 bil…again, according to the CBO)

=Brought this country out from the worst recession since the 30′s, which is now poised to create jobs (every manufacturing and economic stat is positive and job growth histroically a few months behind)

=So anti business the stock market has shown the third largest two year gain under any presidency

= deported the largest number of aliens in any two year period of any president (yep…this is fact. The lies are he did nothing when facts are facts)

= Trade policie which increased exports (and stood firm on the S Korean deal instead of caving in for PR purposes)

= Kept us safe from terrorist attacks while observing rule of law

= ended US policy condoning torture

and the list of accomplishments goes on and on.

Not bad, not bad at all concerning the party of No did nothing for any American unless it eriched its wealthy foreign and domstic financial backers.

BL .. I have Bloomberg paid news, I read data from the CBO, Treasury, the FED, and have access to several banking reports. I also suscribe to two different Investment Letters (one conservative, one more risky)

I’m watching the Service Sector job market reports very closely as those will be the first to pick up in job recovery. China is gonna take an economic hit IMO, so exports to China may drop and Wal Mart is not, IMO, a good investment right now as I think China’s going to be nailed in the “not so hidden” monetary war going on right now between the EU/US and China.

I don’t see inflation being much of a concen this year unless oil taks a jump, and ironically, the QE2 Program may show some positive returns. I am worried what the bond bubble will result in when it bursts, but not too worried.

          • Dave M

            @H Flashman

I think you are correct about the west dropping China as a source of cheap labor. Did you notice how all the heads of state of various countries [including Obama]have been visiting India lately? WallMart will simply phase in “made in India” products.

The quantative easing programs have only temporarily halted the crash of fiat currencies at the expense of future inflation. Look at Europe and their sovereign debt crisis.

          • Bitter Libertarian

No offence, those are not the sources I personally would trust.

My sources are Algora Financial, Max Kaiser, and my own financial decision making process.

Not saying mine are better then yours, but they definately have 2 different “forecasts”.

I honestly dont see a recovery, the information I get is showing further real estate loses which is a result of Job losses, etc.

I dont solely blame, OBAMA’s policies becaue he wasnt driving “the Bus” for the past 20 years, he’s the one in the seat though so he’s gonna take the hit.

The Economy is collapsing now, simply because nations around the globe are dumping dollars, which will cause a loss of faith in the Dollar eroding its value.

An Article from the Daily reckoning:

” Chinese President Hu Jintao: the US dollar-based monetary system is a “product of the past.”

He is right about that. And last week two major US credit agencies – Moody’s and Standard and Poor’s – underlined the point. They said America’s triple A credit rating would be lost if the nation continues to borrow so much money.”

“Let’s see how the present economic model works. You spend $10 trillion on bailouts and stimulus. This puts the whole country on course for bankruptcy…where the Chinese are telling you that your money is history…and the rating agencies are threatening to take you down a notch or two. But for your trouble you get, say, 4% growth.

Hmmmm…4% growth is equal to about $560 billion more GDP. But don’t look too closely. Much of this extra GDP is debt-fueled government boondoggling which adds nothing real to the nation’s wealth.

But in order to keep this “growth” going, you have to continue to run deficits – of about a trillion dollars a year. Hold on…what kind of business is Ben Bernanke running?”

Certainly not blasing you, just sharing my sources say a bit different. IMHO since we are all in “uncertain & different” times so its possible it could go either way.

Personally my money has been elsewhere, following the suggestions of Bill Bonner and I have made over 130% profit in the last 2 years. Unfortunately this is “banking” against the dollar.

My own personal financial wisdom (not the greatest but I never needed a bailout) tells me you cannot borrow to get out of debt. Theres simply too much money going out and not enough coming in from what I am seeing & hearing.

Guess we both shall see! Cheers!

          • Bitter Libertarian

            **UPDATE**

You know what else is a product of the past? Solar panel manufacturing in Massachusetts. The state gave Evergreen Solar at least $45 million in subsidies. “Green” technologies got help from the federal government too – in the form of tax breaks. But last week, the company said it was moving its manufacturing business to…China!

            Nice. :(

          • DaveH

Whoopty Doo, you read from several sources. So do I, so what? Post some references to back up your claims. You should have no problem with that, right, since you have so many sources?

          • HFlashman

Sure DaveH. Not a problem. Which do you want sourced since you need hand holding.

          • DaveH

Okay, here’s just one. And no thanks to the hand-holding. I would only hold hands with an honest person:
Flashman said “Saved the AMERICAN auto industry, hundreds of thousands of AMERICAN jobs, and made a profit for us on the deal”.

            Here’s mine, show me yours:
            http://www.fool.com/investing/general/2010/10/16/is-general-motors-ipo-destined-to-fail.aspx

And note that by keeping the loser GM alive (in the process screwing the bond holders who thought they had a safe investment), GM now gets to continue to compete against Ford who did the right things.

          • HFlashman

DaveH…you qoted Motley Fool…which btw I suscribe to. Here’s the latest fromBloomberg on the GM bailout. I excerpted a quote for shortening the article

            Excerpt:

“General Motors Co.’s initial public offering showed that while U.S. President Barack Obama’s administration may lose billions on the auto-industry bailout, the national budget and economy might be better off for it.

The U.S. sold almost half of its stake in the nation’s largest automaker for $33 a share — about $10 less than it needs to break even. The remaining shares will need to sell for about $20 higher to make up the difference. Selling the remaining shares at $35 a share price would produce a loss of about $9 billion.

That may go down as a bargain. The U.S. would have lost $28.6 billion in spending on social services and missing tax revenue if not for the bailout of GM, its former lending arm and Chrysler Group LLC, according to a study released Nov. 17 by the Center for Automotive Research in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

“GM ends up an economic contributor to the U.S. economy,” said Barry Ritholtz, author of “Bailout Nation” and chief executive officer of New York investment research firm FusionIQ. “It’s manufacturing products, it’s creating jobs, it’s buying wholesale parts, it’s doing what an industrial company is supposed to do.”

So… stock price as of a few minutes ago was $38.00 and change. IF the remaining stock is sold at $38, we “lose” less than $9 billion (chump change when looking in relative dollars of the budget). We saved $28 billion in costs if it had gone under. Not to mention the social disruption in every GM reliant town.

Now…keeping GM afloat saved 77,000 jobs directly. That’s 77,000 taxpayers. It’s safe to assume hey pay at least $15,000 in taxes/year. That’s a billion in tax revenues to the federal gov’t and millions to the state and local governments which they ptherwise a) would not have and b) would save in not paying out social services to the huge unemployment that would drain them. The auto industry has a high economic multiplier effect. Most economics have it at 10, ranges are from 6-12. Let’s take 6 because youre a pessimist and want to try to show saving US jobs is bad.

That’s the problem with shallow thinking Dave… you are so hot and fired up to prove this administration is evil, you grasp at shallow straws and ‘gee whiz’ statistics without wanting to look in-depth because you know it will not be what you are told it is…or what you so fervently wish it to be. i.e. bad for the Nation.

          • DaveH

            Flashdunce,
You can dance around all you want. You are still a liar.
You said “Saved the AMERICAN auto industry, hundreds of thousands of AMERICAN jobs, and made a profit for us on the deal”.
What? “made a profit for us”?

Your own above comment said “Selling the remaining shares at $35 a share price would produce a loss of about $9 billion”. What? A loss?
You said “made a profit for us”.

You can call me “shallow” all you want, Flashdunce. That doesn’t change the established fact that you are a LIAR.

          • DaveH

I might also add that since Flashdunce claims to be well-read and financially acute, what should we then believe about his statement that Obama made us a profit on GM? If he is indeed as knowledgeable as he claims, then he can’t really claim that he was merely wrong about the “profit” statement, can he?

          • DaveH

For anybody who eschews the Liberal fantasies, and wants a taste of reality regarding the GM takeover:
            http://www.examiner.com/conservative-in-national/gm-ipo-icing-on-cake-obama-admin-robbery-of-investors-to-benefit-unions

          • DaveH

Even scarier, is the fact that since GM is largely Government-owned, there is every reason in the world for Government to use its dirty tricks and power to stifle GM’s competitors.
We already saw that in the treatment of Toyota this last year. Toyota has consistantly made the safest and most reliable cars in the world, yet the Government staged a modern day witch hunt on Toyota when some of their cars were accused of unassisted acceleration.
The Liberals whine their fool heads off about the Big Bad Corporations. Now take those same corporations and add the Force of Government. Imagine the corruption.

          • Vicki

            HFlashman says:
“Sure DaveH. Not a problem. Which do you want sourced since you need hand holding.”

HFlashman is apparently unaware of proper debate methods. It is not for us to research your (probably false) claims. It is YOUR responsibility to backup your assertions. Copying the entire text from your source is a start. Correct procedure is to provide a link to your source as it is certainly possible for you to concoct the entirety of your text yourself.

Interestlingy I have yet to actually see a link from HFlashman though I admit I have not been keeping detailed records I did check this handlholding part and only found the (alleged) text from Bloomberg.

It is true that having the more detailed information for the source that goes with the quoted text is a cite we can look up it would be polite of HFlashman to go ahead and provide a link.

I did check and the Google terms “bloomberg GM Bailout” generated 344,000 hits. Somewhere in there must be HFlashmans link.

          • HFlashman

Wow…this is a first. Lectured by Dave AND Vicki as to “proper debating style”. LOL. Here’s my formal offical response. “Whatever.”

You think I’m telling untruths? Prove it. I may indeed at times be in error…but never deliberately. Speaking of “proper debating style”, Dave’s lame attempt to cite GMs “losses” is just that…lame. I went through the methodology used, he decided to instead rely on a one step shallow excuse of a response, ignoring reality and subsidiary costs and savings. He should be glad he doesn’t run a business because he’d be belly up in 90 days or less.

But I digress. I really truly don’t care as to your recitation of chastisement for “proper debating style’. You don’t debate and you certainly don’t have style.

          • Vicki

This is why HFlashman has such low creditability.

            HFlashman writes:

Whatever … hey Doc? You were right :)

HFlash says “Whatever”. Now that sounds exactly like what my 14 yo niece says…one hell of an arguement.

          • DaveH

Uh, oh, Flashman has learned how to do the happy face. What next? Learning how to cut and paste referential links? Probably not, because then he’d have to hunt all over the web to find something to back up his lies.

          • Bitter Libertarian

            Another piece from the Daily reckoning;

“If the republicans were so squarely in favor of limited government and liberty, how come they didn’t actually cut government spending when they had the chance? They ran the show for years. And during those years government spending went up faster than it did under the democrats.

A look back over the last 100 years finds trends that go way beyond republican or democratic administrations. Almost every year, the reach of the federal government expanded. More people were covered by more programs…with more debt and spending obligations pushed farther into the foggy future. Now, according to Prof. Laurence Kotlikoff, the full measure of that unfunded, largely off-the-books, debt is over $200 trillion – making the US government, effectively, insolvent. And that didn’t get there just because of democrats.

Nor will electing a republican make it go away.”

            I believe this is correct….

          • DaveH

You’re right, Flashdunce, “facts are facts”. How about showing us some?
You post the same old unsupported conjecture time after time with no references to back up your supposed “facts”.
It should be no trouble for you to post some references.

Read this one Folks and tell me if you see anything familiar in the Liberals’ posts:

          • HFlashman

DaveH..which are you stating are false? You say they are conjecture…OK…where do you need to be straightened out with? Or are you going to say “all of them’ and prove you’re being obstructionist and simply not knowing what your facts are? Need help with someone to hold your hand to educate yourself?

          • kate8

flash – One true thing you said, anyway. Facts are facts.

Too bad you don’t have any.

          • DaveH

Do you know what Conjecture is Flashman?
Here’s an example from your post:
“brought us back from the abyss of economic collapse”.
Interesting. The Unemployment rate was 8% when Obama took office, now it is 9.4% (and that is using the generous holiday season figures).

            Flashman said:
“Saved or created millions of jobs (over 3 million according to the Congressional Budget Office)” (Duh, how many jobs were lost?)
He “saved” jobs? How does one know that? Are you Clairvoyant now, Flashman? You can predict the Future? What would have been?
And how did he save them? Taking workers from the productive private sector to the unproductive government sector, and increasing our national debt by $3.3 trillion in just 2 years. That’s an increase in the debt of more than $10,000 for every man, woman, and child in the US.
Here is a chart showing the total non-farm Employment for the last 10 years:
            http://forecast-chart.com/chart-nonfarm-payroll.html

I say that if Obama and Bush had been replaced by a Libertarian President that we would be in boom times right now. Prove me wrong. See, Folks, I can state Conjecture just like Flashman does. Meaningless.

          • DaveH

I’m not going to spend my time rebutting every one of your fabricated facts, Flashman.
Just proving one (as I did in an earlier comment) to be fabricated is enough to demonstrate your lack of credibility.

          • DaveH

Also, I might add that the readers of these posts should do their own research. Don’t take my word for it. And certainly don’t take Flashman’s word for it.
I find an excellent source of information to be mises.org, and reason.org, and cato.org.
Also, if you have cable, be sure to watch John Stossel and Judge Napolitano on Fox Business Network.

          • Teresa

here are some facts for you flash…over 200 economists just sent letter to house to repeal the obamacare for the Unconstitutional debt it is about to cause us. http://www.politico.com/static/PPM191_impact.html

          • HFlashman

ummm..Teresa, did you read those ‘luminaries” signing that letter? Arthur laffer…who gave us the disasterous and totally disproven Trickle Down Economics. Folks from the ultra conservative AEI (nawwww…no conflict of interest or favorable writings for conservative viewpoints from there eh?)…

To rely upon that..and state with no qualifiers, that such is ‘proof’ of a deficit spending in a program may not be accurate. In fact, I’d say odds are it’s biased and inaccurate.

Note that letter makes no mention of the subsidiary savings from Preventive Care measures, reduced E room strain, etc etc.

Face it…no one can state for certainty what HCR wll do other than be an improvement over what was.

          • eddie47d

Teresa; More doublespeak from those “experts”. “Congress should adopt initiatives that would encourage providers to offer high quality care at lower costs” “reduce cost pressure on Medicare” “more options for quality insurance”. Okay, then why didn’t private insurers offer good service at a reasonable cost? -They didn’t yet kept increasing costs by 59% before The Affordable Healthcare Act even kicked in. When it comes to Medicare it’s up to those same hospitals to keep costs down instead of gouging the government. The private insurance companies had plenty of options available but excluded millions of people. Even those who had insurance. What this nation had wasn’t doing the job and I’m surprised those private insurance companies are still allowed to be in business. I believe if they repeal the new plan there will be an even greater uproar.

          • Vicki

            HFlashman writes:
“Face it…no one can state for certainty what HCR wll do other than be an improvement over what was.”

Why can you state for certainty that HCR will be an improvement over what was? Or are you just playing with multiple logic inversions for amusement? (I.E. proof by bald assertion)

          • DaveH

As usual, Flashdunce is up to his double-speak tricks.
Says Flashdunce ” Arthur laffer…who gave us the disasterous and totally disproven Trickle Down Economics”
            1) No, he didn’t give us “Trickle Down Economics”. He gave us the Laffer Curve.
            2) It has not been disproven or disasterous. Of course we could just take the word of the Liberal Flashdunce who has proven time and again to have no credibility.

            From Arthur Laffer himself:
            http://www.heritage.org/Research/Reports/2004/06/The-Laffer-Curve-Past-Present-and-Future

Note that I do not subscribe to lower taxes to aid economic growth. There is only one real solution to restoring our economic growth and that is to cut Government spending — Dramatically.

          • DaveH

There is only one real cure for high healthcare costs. That is to get Government out of the healthcare market:
            http://mises.org/daily/3643

          • kate8

Watching the repeal Obamacare debates, it seems that the best the democrats can come up with are testimonials of people who couldn’t otherwise afford to get care for their loved ones.

While these cases are, indeed, heartrending, it still doesn’t justify FORCING the rest of us to pick up the tab. Especially by FORCING those of us who DON’T WANT IT to sign on.

Maybe they could come up with a special donation fund for people such as they. (Actually, there are such funds already.) They could include a special line on the tax form to donate to such a fund. Of course, as usual with government programs, most of the money would be eaten up by beaurocracy before a pittance made it to the actual fund. But I digress.

The fact that there are need people doesn’t in any way justify taking away our freedom to choose what we want for ourselves. We have social programs for these folks. They’ve already helped to bankrupt CA.

How is this Obamacare debacle any better? It only costs everyone more money.

          • Vicki

I have always liked the idea that those who vote for a tax pay the tax. Not workable cause votes really do need to be by secret ballot.

Pleeese, stop drinking at the koolaide fountain. If you look hard at the laws he instilled, the 787 billion dollar bailout…went to his friends to got elected. There is no company too big to fail, not one. They should have been left to fail…it would have hurt for a short time, but another company would have picked them up and the tax payers would not be in a 14 trillion dollar debt. That is how this country has become so plentiful, the ones that cannot manage go down and the ones that manage stay in business…capitalism…that is what works. Just wait until Obamacare is implemented…already thousands of people have had their insurance premiums skyrocket or their companies stop their insurance programs all together, not to mention the number of insurance companies that have dropped health insurance. If you think for one minute that any of the laws you so proudly pronounce were for “you” … think again. The government now has control of Wall Street, the financial industry, the auto industry, the food industry, the health care industry, and are working to tax the very air you breath. If you think Obama is working for you, you are a fool.

        • DaveH

No doubt, Flashman is eating at the Government trough somehow.

        • eddie47d

Wanda; You can have your opinions on Obama all you want .I think you are off the wall and as you can see that is my opinion. G. Bush was President for 8 years and “created” 1 million private sector jobs. That is from Feb 2001-Jan 2009 and is the worst of any other President. Obama in 2010 “created” 1.1 million private sector jobs. Since jobs is the biggest issue facing America who is doing better on this? No President is perfect but give credit where credit is due and get this country moving.

          • DaveH

I will just assume (that’s for argument sake only) that Eddie’s job creation figures are correct (1.1 million created). Okay? During the last two years, with bailouts and other government expenditures, the Government has spent $3.3 Trillion that it had to borrow against ours and our childrens’ future. So each of those “created” jobs cost the taxpayer and their children $3,000,000 ($3 million). Some bargain.

          • DaveH

I know, converting millions to trillions is very confusing. It might help to know that a Trillion is One Million times a Million. Mind boggling. See this:

Let me make one thing perfectly clear: The gov’t does not now and never did have the “power” to create a job. The gov’t creates promises and baseless statistics for which it can guarantee nothing, but MISERY. When the lemmings realize, if ever, that the power WE THE PEOPLE loan to the elected public servants still remains in OUR hands, then maybe there is a slim chance of keeping this REPUBLIC. Half of America is basically stupid, ignorant, and lazy. It takes effort, hard work and relentless energy to keep a Republic, and half of America hasn’t got a damn clue about the blessings of being in this nation–they are merely residents. To be a Citizen requires sacrifice to be engaged and ever vigilant to the evil that goes on while the servants are behind OUR locked doors we loaned them.

MythBusterII: Has Obama Created More Jobs Than Bush?
Ever notice that they never say what KIND of jobs they’ve allegedly “created? And I’d like an itemized list of the jobs “saved”………wouldn’t you?” Well, of course I would, wouldn’t you?

          Education and Health Services
Drilling down into the numbers, we found that most of those jobs were created in the Education and Health Services sub-sector. Yet when we analyzed this sector, we found that job growth has been fairly constant, even throughout the recession. In fact, you can call this a recession proof sector.

Under President Bush, job growth in this sub-sector averaged 465,000 jobs per year, even during the worst of the recession. So far under Obama, annual job growth in this sub-sector is averaging around 332,000. So although the industry has been virtually recession proof, the number of jobs created under Obama is on the decline.

Under President Bush a total of 3,720,000 jobs were added to this sub-sector during his eight-year term. And so far under Obama a total of 578,000 jobs have been created. In terms of percentages, during the Bush years the sub-sector grew at an average of 2.8% annually, while under Obama average job growth has cooled to 1.7%.

So does this look like anything remotely close to proof of the absurd statement that, “Obama created more jobs in 2010 than Bush did in eight years?” Not hardly. But there’s more

          Employment and Temporary Help Services
The other sub-sectors where we discovered job growth in 2010 were Employment Services, and more specifically Temporary Help Services. So far this year, we have recovered 228,000 jobs in Employment Services, and out of those, 218,000 were under the sub-category of Temporary Help Services (graphs and tables below). Add these to the 261,000 jobs created in the, recession proof, Education and Health Services sector, and together they account for 489,000 jobs “created” in the last nine months, or basically the whole enchilada.

          Busted Again!

So there it is, Obama’s greatest feat to-date is that he has managed to slow job growth in the Education and Health Services sector, which has always been recession proof; and he has only managed to recover jobs in the Temporary Help Services sub-sector. And this, his cohorts call a great success? Those of us who are rationally-minded beg to differ.

We wonder how long our economy can sustain itself through providing temporary job search services, especially when the type of jobs people want no longer exist. Meanwhile, our non-existent Goods-Producing sector has hemorrhaged 6,524,000 jobs over the last 10 years, and nothing is being done about it. Where are those jobs? In China.

See Charts and Tables from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Establishment Data.
          http://stats.bls.gov/webapps/legacy/cesbtab1.htm

          • eddie47d

Those were jobs that Bush “created” but then lost in the down turn. That probably does equal 1 million. The year for Obama was only 2010 where 1.1 million were “created”. Still pretty good but still far off from all that were laid off.

          • DaveH

Only $3 million dollars spent to get each of those jobs. A veritable bargain to a Union guy.

          • JeffH

The liberl MSM and the White House continue to repeat the following mantra, “Obama created more jobs in 2010 than Bush did in eight years.” However, how much sense does it make to compare an arbitrary nine-month period for Obama to a full eight-year term? Well none, none at all, at least not within the realm of rational human thought. So far, during the Obama presidency, total employment has been reduced by 3.3 million jobs.

Under Obama, the private sector has shed some 2.9 million jobs while the federal government has grown by 40,000 (after growing massively, the federal workforce shrank throughout the summer). Total government jobs, however, shrank by 357,000 jobs, mainly because of cuts at the state and local levels.

Overall, most of the net jobs created under Bush were created in the government; many private sector jobs have been destroyed under Obama; and the number of government jobs has decreased, even though federal employment has grown.

          • DaveH

Jeff, no fair. They bring a plastic knife to the fight, and you bring a gun. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. Bully.

          • eddie47d

The Dave and Jeff comedy hour; The Chinese spends billions on infrastructure projects and their economy is humming . We spend little and end up with nothing. Nothing wrong with taking on government but if the private sector isn’t creating much either then we have a stalemate. If nothing is being solved then you are part of the problem also. All your talk about the Libertarian Party and Free Markets mean nothing if their solutions aren’t bearing fruit. I don’t have to “bring a gun” Mr bad azz.

      • John B

        Flashman
Remember the Party of NO “Nonsense” had very little input in ANY of Barry’s dealings…so it is not really relevant whether they voted yes or no….
You list some of Barry Soetoros deeds as though they are actually accomplishments.
*brought us back from the abyss of economic collapse…is that a fact or did he just prolong the collapse? Yep that creative accounting on the jobs and unemployed sure fools the gullible (Left that is)
*Saved the AMERICAN auto industry, hundreds of thousands of AMERICAN jobs, and made a profit for us on the deal.
Hmmm hundreds of thousands of American jobs? At the last reckoning I believe that GM is still many billions in debt, although they did successfully pay off a 3Billion loan with funds from the $54 Billion TARP fiasco. I am sure that the stock holders of GM appreciate the shafting that they received….naturally offset by the Union payoff. The recent GM stock deal favored Unions (PRIMARILY)and how are those closed dealerships doing?
        * DADT is now ended…wow
        * Saved or created millions of jobs (over 3 million according to the Congressional Budget Office)…operable term SAVED union jobs,
Created wtf? created or saved lmao. When does a socialist EVER create a job? They do not know how to.
        * When he was inaugarated, job losses were 500,000 per month. We are now in a positive job growth cycle showing a et [sic]gain each month….can you really substantiate that???
        * Pushed through the popular Health Care reform (today’s polls show HCR is supported by over 60% of registered oters, and by 51% of those eligible voting age)…PUSHED through?? Popular ??? Bribed. Supported by 60% of registered voters? I am certain (Sarcasm) that you can support that??? Reform might be supported…but NOT ObamaCare.
        * So anti business the stock market has shown the third largest two year gain under any presidency. Read up on POMO and see the impact that the FED’s input might be having on the stock market
Let us not forget his other accomplishments:
$14 TRILLION Need I say more?.
Closing GITMO ….ooops thought better of that.
Interfered in situations on the local level (Gates) how Presidential?
Pushed Ethanol….how are your grocery prices…yeh I noticed the difference. How is that ethanol anyway?
Global warming? At least he realized summer = hot ….winter = cold
War in Iraq…finished huh? Hows Afghanistan?
Barry could/would not veto spending bills from Congress (Democrat) He signed 410 billion that included $5.5 billion in earmarks that was needed to keep government from shutting down.
Failed to keep his promise on cutting the Federal budget deficit by more than half in his first term
Federal budget deficit in 2009 hit a record of $1.42 Trillion
Nothing but broken promises, smoke and mirrors…but the LEFT is sooo gullible.

        • HFlashman

John…I could go point by point with you on every item, but this thread would go on and on. Certainly there is room for differences in how anyone views the items, and certainly there have been promises as yet unkept. And certainly the times of economic issues forced some promises to be broken.

Absolutely, as BL stated, views can differe depending on how one examines them. (I listed my sources for economic issues…and i should have added NYTs, WSJ and everything else I can get my hands on … I’m a reading addict. i sit somewhere, i’m readig whatever is at hand). I can cite sources for each of my points…BL has his sources to cite, and you have yours is my guess.

What I am enthused about is for once on this board three very diverse opinionated contributors are discussing something without the usual shallow rhetoric…heck, I learned from BL some sources and I trust he has from me…or at least given pause of thought to consider. And yes…your post was also informative (though I think you may want to test that kool aid on your desk :)…

          And for that, thank you.

          • DaveH

Then do it, Flashman. Go head to head. Don’t just talk about it. Any Liberal can talk. Show us the meat. Don’t forget to provide references.

Flash; Nothing changes does it. Dave H. below will call all opposing views the big Lie. State a fact and it becomes a lie. If I don’t believe something I hit the Web to see who is telling the truth, no need in calling someone a liar. Dave H. use to be the smartest guy on this site but now it’s more like mind control. He’s right your wrong, period.

          • DaveH

            Eddie,
You are a Liberal Zealot who will rubber stamp anything Liberal. The open-minded readers know that. Your comments consist mostly of personal attacks and almost no facts.

          • Vicki

            eddie47d says:
“Dave H. below will call all opposing views the big Lie.”

And offer cites with links to back up his assertions.

Eddie47d: “State a fact and it becomes a lie.”

Making a statement of fact does not become a lie. Makeing a statement of fiction does not become a lie. Makeing a statement of fiction and claiming it is a fact does not become a lie. CLAIMING a statement of fiction which is untrue DOES become a lie.

For the reader to tell the difference it is upon the presenter to validate the facts. Dave H is MUCH better at validating HIS facts then either you or HFlashman. Hence his (DaveH) credibility is higher.

Eddie47D: “If I don’t believe something I hit the Web to see who is telling the truth”

Indeed you could. DaveH does. He shares. YOU don’t.

DaveH, and it is noted that eddie starts the name calling and has never posted a link or website to back up his wild assertions and imagination.

eddie47d: “Think for yourself and then I might be impressed.”

That we do think for ourselves is evident in the choices of cites that we use.

      • DaveH

Most of Flash’s statements are pure conjecture. Things like ‘what would have been’. How does anybody prove or disprove ‘what would have been’? They are the kind of statements any smooth talker is experienced with. Things like ‘If I had won the Lottery, I would have split it with you’.
And others of his statements are by definition Propaganda, because they are false, but Flash repeats them time after time hoping that eventually the ignorant people will just assume they must be true having been repeatedly stated. That is the Liberal way.
To prove a person is a fact-fabricator (euphemism for LIAR), one needs only to prove that one of his statements are untrue. I might also add — purposely untrue, because I have posted this poll every time that Flash has made a similar statement:
Flash said “Pushed through the popular Health Care reform (today’s polls show HCR is supported by over 60% of registered oters, and by 51% of those eligible voting age)”

Well, here is one poll by a very reputable polling service:
        http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/current_events/healthcare/january_2011/most_still_support_repeal_of_health_care_bill_49_say_it_s_likely

          Here is one from Gallup:
          http://www.marketwatch.com/story/more-favor-health-repeal-than-oppose-poll-2011-01-07

Keep in mind, they are talking about “repeal”, a much stronger statement than just opposing a law.

          • HFlashman

From AP-GfK polling news. Here’s a hint…if you want to use polling data, use data which covers the spectrum and not reliant upon singular questions with a carte blanche conclusion. Want the raw data as well there DaveH?.

“In response to questions concening repeal, only about one in four say they want to do away with the law completely. Among Republicans support for repeal has dropped sharply, from 61 percent after the elections to 49 percent now.

Also, 43 percent say they want the law changed so it does more to re-engineer the health care system. Fewer than one in five say it should be left as it is.”

          • DaveH

Anybody that is not a Liberal zealot, Flashman, knows that you well-versed at double-speak.
And as usual, Folks, note that Flashman still hasn’t supplied a reference.

  • Doc Sarvis

Mr. Crystal writes; “It goes without saying that the new Republican Congressional majority is a direct result of voter dissatisfaction with the borderline fascist government-by-fiat proclivities of the Democrats.” Actually, that is quite a jump in logic. The majority of folks on this site may think in those terms but when you look at the majority of Americans the change in the House of Representatives, and to a lesser degree the Senate, was due to Americans dissatisfaction with the pace of economic recovery.

As for the suggestion of the two parties sitting together at the State of the Union, I heard it first from Speaker of the House Boehner.

    • mar

I do believe “the people” are dissatisfied with the economic recovery and lack of jobs. However, I think they are also dissatisfied with the programs the past administration developed, the growth of government, the excessive spending all those things that did not result in an improvement in the economy, etc. They realize this was the result of the Dems belief that more government and spending will cure our ills. Most realize this is folly and we can not spend our way out of a recession and should stop the foolish spending so we don’t continue to dig this hole that is starting to look like our grave. Time for some personal responsibility with each person trying to help themselves rather than waiting for the government to fix their problems.

      • Allan Halbert

Exactly right…Doc and most liberals keep trying to convince themselves that if there was just a significant uptick in the economy everyone would be happy with the way the Democrats have governed in the last couple of years. Same as if we would just take their word for it, we’d all be happy with Obamacare. It’s as if we are mindless children that can be placated with a cookie. The public is not buying the rosy picture of the economy or Obamacare. Liberals simply refuse to believe that spending practices and increased government dependence and control are important factors. Based on the last election results, it appears that the more liberals bash the Tea Party and Sarah Palin, blame the right for violence, and tell us we simply don’t understand their policies, the better conservatives do at election time. It is lost on liberals that the public can think and that it sees through the rhetoric.

        • Wanda Murline

I believe that most people do understand the liberals, and that is why they voted them out in droves in the last election, and that will continue through the next election, and the next election, etc. until we have “public servants” again…people sent there for two terms and then go home and go back to work. This is the way our forefathers saw our government working…it was never meant to be a way of life…it was public service, plain and simple. My definition of politics is this….poly, latin for many….ticks, blood sucking insects…need I say more?

      • Cliffystones

“each person trying to help themselves”…………

Unfortunately, Liberals will interpret this as “help yourselves” to our pay checks!

Sorry, I couldn’t resist the play on words :).

      • chick

look around the world,,, we are not the only one’s that are sick and tired of the bs put out buy the so called law maker’s.. other country’s are showing their displeasure about what’s going on..

    • URKiddinMee

Time will tell whether there are enough patriots remaining to wrest control away from the Marxists who have kidnapped the once great democrat party. You may be correct in your conclusion that “it’s only dissatisfaction with the ‘slow’ recovery.” I pray that there ARE more who are concerned with the democrats wiping their azzes on what’s left of our Constitution, but maybe not. If not, then perhaps there will be a groundswell of an electorate who WILL be royally pissed when they experience the hyper-inflation that must SURELY come when the final results of Barry having pumped trillion$ of worthless paper into the economy. The stage is set to make the dismal economic times of Jimmy Carter look like a Sunday school picnic in comparison.

      • Wanda Murline

My dad is 92 this month, and he has been a staunch Democrat his entire life, until this last election in 2010. He states that the Democratic party is not the party he has voted for his entire life. He became an Independent, but voted Republican…he just couldn’t bring himself to be a Republican. He states that he is not leaving his party (Democratic), that his party has left him.

        • kate8

Wanda – One thing I do find encouraging in all this is that minority voters are beginning to realize how the democrats have lied to them and used them for so long, as if they are their own private herd.

I’m so glad to see more and more conservative minority candidates, as well. I’d like to see the TeaParties continue to grow, and do more organizing to “get out the vote”.

We need to fight fire with fire.

    • DaveH

And you know that how, Doc?
Some references please. You surely don’t expect us to take the word of a Liberal?

  • http://! Angel Wannabe

Hmmm__Pep Rally comes to mind when talking about the Memorial for victims of Tuscon shootings.
I watched a portion of it, and couldn’t believe the interruptive applause while Obama was speaking of the victims of Arizona. It seemed like the whole memorial was seized/combined and turned into a photo opt campaign night for Obama.___AND….Handing out T-Shirts at a Memorial????__WTF!_And then the Libby News blaming Palin, Beck and Limbaugh for rhetoric that supposedly led to the shootings???__You’ll pardon me while I laugh my azz off___As if the incident itself wasn’t bad enough, but to turn it into a propaganda moment did a disrespect to the families and the victims.
Passionate political debate is as old as the hills, and blaming the shooting on a Jerod wackjob inability to desipher reality from fantasy, makes about as much sense as trying to build a snowman in hell. It just proves the Dems and the Liberal news Media will not let a good crisis go to waste and will spare no one anddo it at any expense. The Liberal News were hell bent on making others look bad and ended up looking like fools themselves__Can you hear laughter Pharoah?

    • Doc Sarvis

I watched the whole memorial service and was very impressed with how President Obama turned a rowdie crowd (lots of stuents in a basketball arena) at the start to a very reflective and hushed community by mid-way through. He gave a very approproate and heartfelt speech and, from what I could see, NO telepromters.

      • http://! Angel Wannabe

I’ll give Obama credit, he didn’t play into the applause.

        • URKiddinMee

He “didn’t play to the appalause?” WHAT pep rally speech were YOU listening to? certainly not Barry’s. And, yes, there WERE teleprompters.
When he seemed genuinely surprised by the thunderous reaction to his statement of “she opened her eyes,” he repeated it at least THREE more times I counted. So shameless was his wringing of the emotion from this statement that I was reminded of Marty Feldman’s repeating “Frau Blucher!” over and over again in “Young Frankenstein” to enjoy the effect it had on the horses! Barry proved that as the shameless opportunist that he IS, he HAS listened to Rahm Emmanuels’s advice to “never waste a good crisis for your advantage.”

          • Doc Sarvis

Even the conservative commentator/analysts in the media gave President Obama high marks for what he said and how he said it in this address to the country.

          • http://! Angel Wannabe

Urkiddinme, I blame the Liberal News media starting this firestorm over the supposed Conservative rhetoric being to blame for this Jerod guy going postal. You can blame a sick mind on anything and they did. In response to the Memorial service, I have to agree with Doc, that Obama had no control over the applause. Unless of course there was an applause meter lighting up.

          • Wanda Murline

Obama could have stopped the applause the first time it started by reminding the audience that even though all were glad for the congresswoman, that we are here to pay tribute to the wounded and the dead and please do not applaud anymore…then, he would have finished a speech on good standing, but to allow these people to have a pep rally was reprehensive. I did not understand why he was there anyways. He surely did not do a speech when Hasan murdered 14 of our soldiers in Fort Hood…where was he then?

        • willythegeek

There shouldn’t have been ANY applause under the circumstances.

          • Doc Sarvis

Applause is obviously not something the President controls at the start. As I stated, I believe the early (too rowdie) applause was due to the basketball arena/college venue/student attendance. As the President’s address continued the rowdieness was replaced with a respectful atmosphere. It was not long until the only applause was to affirm supportive phrases in the President’s text. Even the victums and victums families were applauding so I leave it to those people to judge whether to applaud or not.

            Agreed!

          • JeffH

Doc Sarvis, I agree with you on this.

          • http://deleted Claire

Doc Sarvis— And I agree with you.

          • http://deleted Claire

A number of years ago, one of my husband’s hunting buddies passed away. After various people stood and spoke their condolences to the family and shared memories, there was applause. I have to admit I was surprised but the guy’s service was called “A Celebration of Life.”

          • http://! Angel Wannabe

Claire, my Brothers kids did the eulogy when they’re Dad, my Brother died. They did basically the same thing, they shared stories through the years with Bill, the funny things and the sad. And anyone was invited to share a story too.

      • Allan Halbert

        Doc-

Unfortunatly for Obama, too many of his actions, along with many of his words prior to today have made Americans skeptical of his sincerity. Good speaker/reader yes, but I think he is now viewed more as a charismatic personality than a leader, both at home and abroad. And still today many people simply feel they do not know what he really stands for. If Obama actually does move to the center I think it will be understood as a political decision rather than a change in core philosophy. People will have all of this in mind in 2012, and I have a feeling that the far left would like to see some other liberals beat out Obama for the Democratic nomination.

        • eddie47d

The far left is not satisfied with Obama and doesn’t think he has gone far enough with certain programs. They will not be gung ho in 2012 and will throw their support to someone else. The majority of Democrats/Progressives do support Obama. Now the far right (yes, you know who you are) have become so extreme and full of themselves. That a sizable block of voters will be turned off by them and allow Obama to be re-elected. The Republican Party is no stronger than the Democrat Party in respect or enthusiasm so the void is still there. Can the Tea Party rally their forces like they did in the last election?

          • marvin

            eddie47d
you ask and i say we the teaparty are alive and well and will not as dirty harry reid thinks ,we wii not go away, we are the sons and daugthers of washington, lincoln, paul revere, daniel boone, davy crockett, just to name a few,if you don,t like it change it,never i said never give in or retreat ,right is right and wrong is wrong, and the liberals have been incharge to long, vote in nov 2012 like your country depends on it it does no more pass then read bills and remimber what the the alamo was about,it is e pluribus unium, one in to menny not as obama said menny in to one, we are not one but a collective

          • Karolyn

            Very good point eddie.

          • http://deleted Claire

I have never been to a tea party out of town. I only went twice to tea parties here in my own town. I will never go to another. The first meeting was nice, then the second one turned out to be for the Republicans–the RINOs. Needless to say I will not attend another. One question I have is: If the Tea Party is for everybody regardless of party affiliation, why don’t they endorse someone from the Libertarian Party, the Independent Party, etc.? Why is it always someone from the Republican party?

      • Ted Crawford

Passing out tee shirts with his new logo on them would tend to negate that in most peoples minds doc!

      • kate8

What else would you expect from a crowd of liberal college students. They don’t know how to be respectful or behave appropriately.

Really sad when you consider theat these could be future leaders.

        • http://! Angel Wannabe

that’s just scary as hell kate to think those colleg kid’ll be leaders one day, I hope by them I’m dead, gone and buried!__lol

          • DaveH

They are very brainwashed, Angel. They will learn. Give them time.

          • http://! Angel Wannabe

Man o man I hope so Dave, Hopefully if they open up they’re minds it won’t tak them as long as it did some of us. With most of us, we got busy with our lives and forgot our duty to Country. Thats why the Country’s in the mess that it’s in.

          • kate8

Think so, DaveH? Some, maybe, but I’ll go ahead and point to all the Progressives in government and media and ask how many of them have grown up. We still have a great deal of irresponsible and inappropriate rhetoric and actions.

    • castaway

Yes you are correct that the liberal Democrats seized the moment,as did the liberal media. They made a fiasco out of a funeral and an event to remember and respect the dead. Time has come to physically and forcefully remove the Democratic party from our soil and send them Packin. The Republicans need not be far behind either.

I am so sick of this B.S. I could vomit. We need a totally new government, that sticks to the constitution, and the bill of rights.

      • DaveH

        Castaway,
How about you take all that negative energy and channel it into learning as much as you can about economics and help me expose to other readers just how bankrupt (morally and economically) the Liberal ideas are?

        • kate8

DaveH – Another shooting (at a school) making play all over the airwaves.

I wonder how many shootings we’ll have before democrats will succeed in taking away guns. Gee, amazing how these things happen right when they need to make a point.

One kid was shot in the face. Sick, sick, sick.

          • http://! Angel Wannabe

KATE8, Just saw that shooting in Cali on Fox news___also__7.3 earth quake just hit in Southern Pakistan.

          • DaveH

California? That state is amongst the strictest gun control states in the country. I wonder how they will spin that one:
            http://www.gunmap.org/

          • kate8

            DaveH – I hadn’t thought of that.

They will probably say that this demonstrates all the more that we need to remove all guns, totally, so kids can’t get access to them, thereby preventing “accidents” such as this.

Of course, we know that there is no way to take guns away from anyone but those people who obey the laws. I just hope that people remember that such a “law” would be null and void from the outset, and if they do pass such an act, just ignore it.

    • http://OprahtheSCUMARTIST Jean

Well – it looked like the youth group soluting Adolf Obama. It was a rally alright – but not for anyone who died.

      • eddie47d

More sinister talk from another extreme righty. Feel better now?

        • DaveH

Another personal attack from the Union master of personal attacks.

          • Karolyn

You consider that a personal attack, Dave?

          • DaveH

            Yes, Karolyn, it was.

          • eddie47d

Jeans attack was very personal in tone and DaveH. has been agreeing with quite a few of those. Double shame.

          • DaveH

Indeed her attack was personal, Eddie, but it wasn’t a personal attack on you. Your attack was on her.

          • eddie47d

Get over yourself Dave H .That brown stuff is coming out of your eyes!

  • William Glammeyer

I agree with Angel. I watched very little of the ‘memorial’ service. (At least that is what it was supposed to be!) Apparently, the ‘audience’ was ‘placed’ there with all Democrats or ass-kissing Obama-ites. I just could not believe it when they gave Janet Napolitano and Hussein Obama standing ovations and were applauding them! (For what???) After what these people did, and are doing, to the state of Arizona, I just could not understand why they were so thrilled with them? Have they forgotten that Obama wants to sue Arizona for them wanting to do HIS job, because he WILL NOT? I will not give Obama credit for anything he said or done at the ‘memorial’ service. It was all about him, as usual. And T-shirts? How many of you have gone to memorials or funerals and made a circus out of it by passing out T-shirts or anything else??? I thought a memorial service was supposed to be about the people that were killed?

    • Patriot

We will not be deceived this audience was planted, the simple fact it was at primetime on all the news stations is just a subtle clue! A memorial service is for the victims and their families to heal, not to discuss anything political. If our President had any semblance of principles he would have stopped the cheering immediately, he would have spoken form the heart without the need of a speech writer and it would have taken 5 to 10 minutes max. He does not have the moral or ethical standards that come close to what the American People have. We the People have been extremely civil over these last 4 years, we have been attacked, dismissed and criticized by our government and media. When you have the truth and principles on your side these thoughts will NEVER BE SILENCED! Continue the good fight the attacks by these people will start to get worse this simply means that they are losing control and losing the battle!

      • eddie47d

YOU may have been civil these past 4 years but not the folks who control the media. Whether Fox News and Breitbart or MSNBC and Olbermann. The cesspool has yet to be drained but we all know that won’t happen. It’s that free speech thing so learn to live with it.

        • DaveH

That “free speech thing” really sticks in your craw, doesn’t it?
We need card check, don’t we, so the Unionists can know who to intimidate?
And “net neutrality” so the Liberals can squelch their exposings on the Internet?
And the Fairness Doctrine, so the Liberals can squelch their exposings on the Airwaves?

          • kate8

Yet another win for you, DaveH!

Remember when we were kids, there were these inflatable bopper punching bags? You punch them down, they pop back up. You punch them down, they pop back up…The libs on this site put me in the mind of those.

I sure wish I had one now with the face of…well, at the risk of being accused of violence, I leave that to the imagination.

          • DaveH

            I know the feeling, Kate.
They are like spoiled teenagers who, having been supported all their lives, have no clue about reality until they get out and have to support themselves.

          • eddie47d

There’s no win for Dave just his usual obnoxious comebacks. I’m not afraid to take on the absurdities on the left or right.Unlike Dave and Kate. Follow the Party line, follow the Party line – Knock the liberal down but never touch a conservative. What a scream!

          • kate8

eddie – Yet another meaningless statement.

We disagree with one another from time to time, and say so. But certainly not just for the sake of disagreement. I’ve yet to see you lefties do anything but parrot each other, because, unlike you, we actually have thoughts of our own.

          • DaveH

For one thing, Eddie, you are talking about Right-Wingers most of the time, not Conservatives.
I rarely argue with a Conservative because I agree with them most of the time. I have argued plenty with right-wingers though and you would know that if you spent more of your time actually reading comments instead of concentrating on personally attacking people.

          • eddie47d

You are one arrogant s.o.b. Dave H. Getting worse by the day.

      • Wanda Murline

All of Obama’s events are staged…they even have tryouts to attend, where you submit your picture, your personal information and your voting records…every one of his campaign speeches, etc. over the last two years has been staged…he cannot and will not accept any controversial questions as his events…one guy got through on one and it was obliqued by the left press. What a guy.

        • kate8

Wanda – Well, we’ve all seen how inept Obama is when it comes to speaking off-the-cuff. He’s completely unable to think on his feet. Maybe he’s unable to think at all. He simply can’t function without the teleprompter.

An empty suit with a swivel-head.

          • crystals10

            kate8:
LMAO!! What a great way to sum him up. Who goes to a memorial with an arm full of t-shirts anyway? Oh yea, Obama Soetoro the swivel head in an empty suit. Still laughing, thank you!

          • http://! Angel Wannabe

            Empty suit with a swivelhead___ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!

    • Karolyn

As far as the audience is concerned, we know for a fact that there were tea partiers there, because the guy who got arrested was yelling at them. You people seem to think that everybody thinks like you. I would venture to guess that there are more people who are middle-of-the-roaders and do not ascribe either to a radical conservative or liberal standpoint. The speech was unifying and appropriate, and the people there were astute enough to see that.

      • http://! Angel Wannabe

Karolyn, That’s a lot of the problem today IN AMERICA, INDESICION!!!

      • JeffH

“radical conservative”? Now there’s an oxymoron for ya.

        • smilee

          But so very accurate!!

  • Teresa

Actions speak louder than words…please remember this. This was a horrible tragedy. REMEMBER THESE PEOPLE IN PRAYER!

  • smithington

Even the devil says, “I Love You”. Do not be deceived by persons who say kind things on occasion, but only have their own self-glorifying interests in mind.

    • Ted Crawford

Very good point smithington! That will also be true for any temporary move to the center from obama. I don’t think he will fool many conservatives and I hope the indpendents stay alert as well!

    • JeffH

smithington, well said. Yes, I think Obama said it right at the memorial…problem is he’s a Marxist radical and will go back to his crony bosses and continue plotting the demise of a free America.

      • eddie47d

“Plotting the demise of a free America”? We should all feel more threatened by some of the things that are advocated on this site rather than what Obama says.

        • JeffH

Well eddie, some of you are!

  • Michael J.

Obama appeared nervous like a criminal returning to the scene of a crime. As if to stave off any notions of culpability.
The Chicago style victory celebration which marked the elimination of political oposition, and a federal judge who had ruled against him was cloaked as a memorial tribute to the fallen and the injured, but was actually the kick off of his 2012 presidential campaign which was paid for by tax payers, of course.

    • http://! Angel Wannabe

MJ, I fully agree about the Judge!

    • kate8

Obama was able to read and deliver all the right words, but it was completely contrived.

Phoney, phoney, phoney. I’ll bet in his heart he was smugly thinking how easy it is to deal with those who oppose him. After all, he did give himself the power to remove those he deems to be “enemies of the State”.

  • http://! Angel Wannabe

MJ, I also wonder WHY the Judges intent, was never published in the states?

  • SteveB

The script was given him and Barry delivered it! Don’t be surprised if Hollywood offers him a job after losing the next election! Indeed….there’s a word for speaches like that…..”oppertunistic!”
But did we expect anything less from Barry, the Democrats hero…..
“Hi-ho Silver…..The Lone Ranger Rides Again!”

    • J.M.R.

BOY THAT WAS AN INSULT TOHE LONE RANGER

    • Doc Sarvis

      Steve B
Another word for a speach like that is “necessary”. Folks on this site would be all over President Obama if he did NOT give a speach. He does or he does not – either way he is condemed here by most posters.

      • Ted Crawford

The fact that he chose to speak and the speech he gave are both laudable. The problem doc is the tee shirts!!

        • Karolyn

And he probably had no say in that.

      • marvin

        Doc Sarvis
their is a time for as you say speaking and a time to reap and a time to sow a time to pray and heal the hurting, and a time to give a political speaking engagement that had vary little to do with the victims of this mad man and all to do with getting votes is obama going to the next mass shooting if it is just poor ever day people like you i think not, never let a crisis go to waste

      • JeffH

Doc, you’re right about his speech being necessary, but he’s earned the criticism through his actions and his outright lies to the American people.

  • A Real American

American Patriot and URKiddinMee hit the nail on the head. Ø does NOTHING for anyone but himself. ‘Doc’ and ‘Angel’ are leftist plants, just like everyone at that pep rally, and ‘shameless’ is a perfect description of that ‘performance’. Everything Ø says and does is scripted, as anyone knows who has seen him attempt to answer impromptu questions, only to watch him fumble and flub the answers. If he had a brain cell, it would be lonely. Anyone who falls for anything he says gives away their IQ (or lack thereof). The sad thing for America is that there are so many lemmings drooling over him as he leads them over the cliff. Just based on the fact that he got elected, if WWII were to happen today, America wouldn’t stand a chance because the majority of Americans are so dumb.
AND – if I wanted lessons in civility, I certainly wouldn’t get them from Mr. “get in their face”; “if they bring knives, we’ll bring guns”; “that way I know whose ass to kick”, just to point out a few of many such comments by this most Un-American embarrassment to Real Americans.

    • http://! Angel Wannabe

A real American__LMAO!__ you have no idea what your talking about Liberal Plant?????__LOL, ats a gooden!

        • http://! Angel Wannabe

Ted and Real American, You ladies should read up farther on the thread!

          • bob wire

I don’t think I want to read anything anyone wrote that went by “A real American”, as it suggest there might be unreal Americans.

Poor choice in a Handle as far as I’m concerned, it shows a “lacking”

It displays a strong desire to pass judgment on others.

I wouldn’t smoke cigarettes named Sky Dancer either.

But “Fire King” is rather cute or Angel Wannabe. ~ There is a endless number of great screen names. ~ I always like Chief10Beers but they always tell me it’s taken, yet I never ran across one.

If I’m annoyed with your handle, I won’t read your stuff.

          • A Real American

THE Unreal American sits at the top of the sh!tpile in Washington DC. I certainly do pass judgment on him, for he is destroying our Country. I pass judgment on nobody else, save those that seek to control our lives through legislation, just for the sake of controlling our lives. They ARE subject to citizens passing judgment on them. Maybe if more citizens cared to pass judgment on elected officials, we wouldn’t have the abomination of a Congress controlled by Democrats for the last few years.

      • kate8

Angel W – YOU a leftist plant? Wherever did he get that?

        He must be new here.

        • http://! Angel Wannabe

kate 8, I told ted and real american (the Ladies, sarcasm) that they should read up farther on the thread for the rest of what I said and why I said it. I merely stated an opinion, and gave credit to Obama for his trying to be somber at the Memorial, but was interrupted by the applause__and yes, BTW, I think they’re both Newbies!

          • libertytrain

yep, only newbies could make that incorrect assessment :)

      • JeffH

I can only LMAO at Doc and Angel being called leftist plants. ROTFLMAO! Doc’s a liberal thinker and Angel sure as hell ain’t no liberal at all.

        • http://! Angel Wannabe

JeffH, like I said they must be Newbies! :)

  • John Woodbury

PLEASE, the libtard media was drooling and had proclaimed the wacko a conservative before the last shot was fired. In fact, it turns out he was even more libtatd than the commie, ups, Democratic Party. While I could live with 17 round clips, it was a God send he did not have them as they are much more reliable. Or have 4 or more guns because of limited capacity. I saw somewhere where they took all the assignation attempts and looked at them and in all most all or maybe all cases, it was liberals who shot the people. But crazy was not political, it was personal, he did/she did type of thing most likely. And do not give me the bull c*&p about guns cause violence, the Swiss by law have fully loaded guns in every home, so by right Swiss cheese should mean mucho violence.

    • castaway

Yes and that sure blows a hole in the idea guns are bad!

    • marvin

      John Woodbury
as far as clips go old trick, take two and tape or tack two togetter the glock as memory serv me is a 13 shot clip, but the whole thing is gun do not kill people, people kill people, insane people have no after thought for the pain they will cause ,this is not about rep gilford or the fed judge, some seem to think that their live where more important then the other 12 that where shot that is wrong,my life is just as important as yours or anyones, this has turned a horrable tragedy in to a slugfest over whoto blame more, the teaparty or palin /hanity /beck/o`reilly , this is about a mad man doing what mad people do, not about he said she said ,you just can not fix liberalism or stupidity you vote them out

    • marvin

      Teresa says:
the citizens of mexico have no gun or rights to have guns, the mexican goverment took them away ,only cops and crooks have guns, wonder how that is working out for them with murders by the dozens ever day with over 30,000 murders in last couple years,

      • Teresa

I never said that….where you get this from marvin??????

    • DaveH

How do you think those holes got in that cheese?

  • Richard

Obama’s “civility” crap only applies to conservatives. Liberals still have free license to spread their hate around.

    • kate8

Richard – Amazing how that works, isn’t it?

It’s the old liberal tactic: repeat a lie over and over enough times and it becomes the truth.

They wish. It’s not working so well for them anymore. Thank God.

      • http://! Angel Wannabe

kate8, boy o boy ain’t that the truth!

      • DaveH

        Flashman comes to mind.

        • http://! Angel Wannabe

          YEPPER! DAVEh!

  • Patriot

Everything Obama does is scripted, no teleprompters are you kidding, he uses them so often that now the libs do not even see them, the emperor has no clothes or teleprompters, just ask them. If this was not a staged event why the tee shirts and why the heck did he speak for nearly an hour? Obama has 2 years until the election lets all hope he is in campaign mode for that long so that nothing gets done in DC; I for one have had enough of this Maxtist regime. The election was about getting back to the basics and to continue what are founders fought for and that has nothing to do with this current agenda! Hopefully we will still be a Republic by 2012. “Give me Liberty of Give me Death”, this still resonates with me, how about you?

    • castaway

That one is old and does not fit the time we live in. It should read “give us liberty,or we will give you death on a grand scale.

      • JeffH

castaway, you’re an idiot. Like I’ve said elswhere, either you’re a liberal plant promoting violence or you’re just an idiot extremist. We all know about the three boxes and in what order they’re to be used, you could learn from it too. As DaveH said earlier…channel that energy in helping others to learn…and not at gunpoint. We’re nowhere close to that solution yet, stop the pushing.

      • http://! Angel Wannabe

CASTAWAY, JeffH is right,_ drawing a line in the sand and a sword is the last resort. And if we make the first violent move, that will give Bambi the ammunition he needs to pull Marshal Law_-Ya better think about what that will mean?!

        • AnotherPatriot

          Do you mean ‘Martial’ Law?

  • David

The Memorial was a pep rally, no doubt, and the official start of the campaign for 2012, I mean t-shirts with your new slogan on it, please! Obama is a fair orator, thanks to his booming voice, and as long as he has good speech writers. He is a great communicator, he has communicated to the American people that he loathes America, most of it’s citizens and their wishes, it’s laws, it’s culture, and everything else about it. I mean how much more clear could he be? Could the judge have been the real target, and the rest the collateral damage?

As far as the article, goes the most revolting part, would be the thought of Pelosi sitting on my lap, yuk, time to go vomit.

    • Patriot

Hey that homeless junky guy Ted Williams on youtube is a great orator with a great voice maybe he should be our next Preident?

      • David

Well, he shares his name with a great baseball player and patriot. Might be a step up!

      • kate8

Patriot – That would be funny if it weren’t for the probability that lots of people would vote for him. Obama’s was only slightly more qualified than Ted, and look at the votes he got.

BTW, the poor man is a perfect example of what happens when you give someone a chance at fame and fortune that they haven’t earned. They just don’t have the mindset to handle it.

This seems to be another thing the liberals just don’t get. Obama is another example of someone who was catapulted to power without having earned it. Arrogant, spoiled, intolerant, childish…no clue about diplomacy, no ability to see another point of view or even allow for it.

i say best thing ever invented was the tv remote you lie to me one time shame on you 2nd time shame on me ,i don,t need obama or any liberal, telling me that it was my fault, like bill maher remarks the teabaggers where to blame ;maher may be a fag,or gay but i am not, come thank of it mahers acts queer , you can spot a liberal a mile away, like arz sheriff dipalo the shooting victims were not even cold and he started his blame game ,but liberals give him a pass, obama turned a memoral in to a turn out the vote,i can only watch about 30 sec of most liberals speaking,it is all the same broken record, like when pelosie /reid /shumer and more back when bush was pres and gas went to 3 dollars a gal and over it was bushs failed energy policy, gas is now over 3 dollars a gal some places it is 3.79 a gal but we don,t hear that it is obama fault, but stupid is as stupid does, you can not fix mad people and liberals you lock up mad people and vote the liberals out, long live the tea party, best thing to happen to this country in 100 years,

    • Ted Crawford

True David. Did you see how NPR just injected racism into the incident yesterday! I believe that completes the progressive agenda for any discussion! Bush did it,the Conservatives caused it, they are violent, racist xenophobeic old white fokes! Here is your tee shirt!

Do we the people of the United States of America have a constitution, or a bill of rights or not? If so, then why do we allow them to bully us, and push us around with their illegal laws. I think we as a people have grown “Marshmallows”for brains. How many major laws or bills, are illegal,or against the constitution? Who do these judges that put themselves about the law of the land really think they are? Forget this silly ass business of voting them out. It will not and has not worked. We need to take to the streets and start rioting and demonstrating our dissatisfaction. We need to forcefully create a regime change.

    • castaway

I meant above the law of the land in my last comment.

    • skipfoss

Man finilly some one that is talking with some brains, Ihave been for for forcing this lying half breed out since day one. He has refused to follow the laws and the constitution since he was sworn in he has never provided proof that he is an American citizen as required by law and the constitution. He has taken it upon himself to appoint a shadow government and has written unconstitutional excutive orders circumventing congress and has gien his czars more power than is legal,it is time that we fire this shadow government ,he has never diclosed their salaries and where the money is coming from to pay them ,youcan damn well bet he is not forking the money out of his pocket, which would be a good idea if he wants their advice he should pay for their servicenot us because we do not need their damned advice and we don,t need them on the payroll when we could use that money to put some real people to work. This morning the half breed signed another excutive order when the camera paned over the pages of the document the pages were blank,so what the hell was was he giving his party to run with? I am so f—ing tired of these bastards doing everything behind closed doors in the middle of the night on the friggen week end .This hasf breed son of a white trash communist whore needs to be taken out of office by what ever means possible legal or not, before he and his shadow gov get the power to take all of our rights away. The bastards are trying now to pass bills(the Fairness doctrine)to try to limit or speech and every kind of F—-ing gun law they can so that when Premeir Hussein finds a reason to declare Marshal Law we will not have anything to fight back with(are they going to be surprised ) to me that is war and I have already fought one and I damn sure am not afraid to fight and kill in another

Might not be such a bad idea if they decide they will all carry sidearms!

    • castaway

Thats a joke, as most of them cannot even use a cane properly, let alone a fire arm. Of course maybe you are right and they could have a shoot out if tempers flare over the passage of a bill. WOuld that be funny or what.

      • David

My point, exactly. I don’t think most of them could go to the McDonalds drive thru, and order a big mac, nor pay, without assistance from their staff.

        • 45caliber

Maybe both sides will simply call in their staffs to have the shootout. After it is over, the Congressmen can count to see which one has the most staff remaining to determine the winner.

Well, it’s safe to be weary of such ~ but with all respect Micheal J.

you seem to claim it as Liberal Lies and that is just not the case.

          I copy and paste exert from “your”link;

“t claims to a copy of Jared Loughner’s voter registration form and indicates he was a registered Republican. However, it is yet to be authenticated. Most mainstream media sources reported that Loughner had registered to vote for the first time in 2006. This information was sourced from Chris Roads, Pima County’s registrar of voters, who said that Loughner registered as an independent and last voted in the 2008 general election. ”

I too found him listed as a independent in a less convincing site.

In either case ~ no evidence has been brought forward Loughner is a card carrying liberal, yeller dawg, blue dog, tree hugger, Givemecrat!

I think it’s premature to start talking about liberal lies on this matter. Unless of course you are~ predisposed?

No the democrats didn’t ~ the left leaning media did!

Ben , you like most of us are confusing two separate things!

The media ~ is not the DNC or the GOP, but only a blurred reflection.

Today’s media attempt to “MAKE THE NEWS” ~and both are doing a very good job of it!

    • 45caliber

You are certainly right about the media but the Dems still can come in for their share of the problem. I’m not talking all liberals nor am I talking about the Independents. I’m talking about the Democrat party people. The media is simply a reflection of what the Democrat party people want and do.

HFlashman; Great article, you the man.

  • Ronald Johnston

What do you expect from the yellow bellies? These people have never been Americans. All the Americans are on Tea Party side.

    • bob wire

give me a break, Tea Party? Party of one? ~ try getting out sometimes.

  • Howard R Gray

The new seating arrangements for the State of the Nation address are a sign of the Democrat Party becoming aware of its future as not being as easy as it used to be. The one thing about the Tea Party, before the Loughner attack, is that they are the model of civility, remember Glen Beck pointed out the lack of litter after one of the biggest rallies of all time when, only days later, the opposition with its pretentions to ecological affinity left behind a mountain of garbage. The other significant feature is the propensity for violence both in rhetoric and action is by far the most on the left. Those of us who remember the ban the bomb and peace movement people dressed in guerilla gear making fists of communistic support have little doubt about the thuggery of the left. It has always been obvious which way the wind blows from the left and we don’t need weathermen then or now to tell us about the climate of hate.

All that being said the political machine will take years to redirect itself towards government for the people by the people. The left have captured the high ground of the nation. Public servants, teachers, academics, entertainers, the list goes on of those who do not understand how wealth is created. The fundamental flaw of socialism is the complete lack of appreciation of wealth creation and the link to freedom for such activity to work at all. The most fascinating factor to emerge from the Loughner incident is the left’s attack on all and sundry in such an amateur way, talk about smoking themselves out! What on earth had Sarah Palin got to do with Loughner? The attacks were stupid to say the least, O’Reilly made the point that the left have done themselves some real damage, they still don’t quite understand that the media is an extended entity to include the internet and many quasi television services that are emerging such as You Tube to replace cable let alone terrestrial TV and radio. 2010 was the year that Glen Beck proved the scale of support for the Tea Party let alone the spontaneous nature of the movement. The left are obviously scared of the Tea Party since it is a genuine diffuse organization evincing a political dialogue alien to their prescribed way that the nation should follow.

“Do not forget me….. “ the refrain from the theme song of Gary Cooper’s High Noon lends a sense of sadness and dread as the noon day approaches, we are seeing the high noon of the left, they have attempted for over 100 years to influence by stealth the way our nation is governed. The cause of communism, socialism, anarchism, nihilism, and Nazism, all creatures of the left, have reached their zenith. There are still the causes they espouse deep within the establishment, environmentalism, stateism, big government, world governance and the like to defeat. The truth is, this really is their high noon not ours. The ideas behind this great nation are an offshoot of the Anglo Saxon tradition modified by immigrants from all over, the method of governing and our traditions are an evolving entity, the injection of a foreign set of ideas that have failed repeatedly worldwide is evident to most of us now, it will take a generation or so for the misnamed elite to catch up. Progressive ideas attempt the impossible to prescribe for virtually everything and fail in the attempt, that redounds to our benefit, we win simply because our ideas have evolved and continue to do so, theirs are a complete set of dated ideas with little prospect of adaption to an uncertain future.

We now have Tea Party members of the legislature that is a major beginning and will be a feature for years to come, Gary Cooper is in the house.

“It would be a dangerous delusion were a confidence in the men of our choice to silence our fears for the safety of our rights: That confidence is everywhere the the parent of despotism — Free government is founded in jealousy and not in confidence; it is jealousy and not confidence which prescribes limited constitutions; to bind down those whom we are obliged to trust with power … In questions of power, then, let not more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.”

This Shooting is an event not different then many other shootings or deaths in America. IMHO it deserves no more attention, or reaction then any other. I know that sounds cold, but I dont mean it cold, just that life is life and these lives deserve no more and no less recognition then the other lives lost that very same day.

No I didnt watch the ceremony. I was working.

97% of the Politicians are guilty of deception, lies, and saying what people need to hear to get elected and re-elected.

Politicians are not the solution, they are merely the end result of a solution. You want change, Constitutionality, Liberty? I dont believe enough people in America really understand what it means. Real Freedom means no one gets special treatment!

Bash Obama, Bush, all of them. It was every Americans fault that they are there doing damage including mine. guys,

envision the day when we all have apartments no larger than 300 square feet, with electricity that never seems to work. envision a day when we have to fill out 200 forms, and wait for 2 years, to get an $8 an hour paying job. envision the day where you have to wait 20 years on a list to buy even the worst of cars. envision the day when we see lots and lots of nice homes vacant, rotting, and the government will not allow you to buy one of them, even if you could afford it. envision the day when you go to the grocery store five times a day, only to find no food on the already empty shelves. all of these scenarios i have seen, for real, in communist or suppressed countries. than, you can thank the liberals who wanted big government over self reliance.

  • 45caliber

Of course the Democrats want bipartisan bills now – they are in the minority and can’t get them passed alone. It’s only when they are in the majority that they aren’t interested.

To a liberal/progressive, bipartisanship means that the GOP will pass the Democrat bills as well as the Republican ones. All of them. But it means nothing when they don’t need the GOP to be nice and let them still have their way.

    • DaveH

It’s just a matter of time before most of the citizens wake up to the fact that Liberals will say and do anything to get their way.

      • 45caliber

Unfortunately so will the GOP. That is politicians for you. But I particularly don’t like the way the libs like to do things. For instance, Nancy saying that they were bipartisan when they simply ignored or shot down any suggestion by a conservative but immediately insisted when the Dems lost their majority that the GOP should be bipartisan and allow the Dems to “contribute”. The GOP does some of the same but not nearly as much since they have had many years experience dealing with a Dem majority and know they have to keep their options open.

        • DaveH

Their bag of tricks is large.
I endured for years their accusations that Republicans were “mean”, yet the only meanness I observed was coming from Liberals.
Same thing with the “hate speech”. As we can see on this board they are very disrespectful to anybody that disagrees with them.
Liberals have no real logical or experiential support for their ideas, so they must resort to emotional manipulative tactics.

          • libertytrain

Agreed Dave, and anyone who has raised children should already have them figured out.

  • 45caliber

I saw an article earlier today over on townhall.com about Indiana’s budget. They have cut all “nice-to-have” programs and kept only the “must do” programs. As a result they are not only in the black but they are also cutting their taxes instead of raising them while at the same time paying off some of their own debt from previous years. Illinois, on the other hand has increased their taxes by as much as 60%.

I think we need to insure that Congress does the same as Indiana. It is nice to have certain things – but they aren’t in the “must-do” category. We need to eliminate all those “nice-to-have” items until we pay off our debt, get the economy going again, and actually have excess money coming in. Which means a long time now considering our debt level.

    • Bitter Libertarian

Thats the problem 45, the cuts. Cut enough to make things right, they wont get re-elected..and there will be civil disorder to some degree or other. Dont cut enough and the borrowing continues and Taxes increase…either way they lose they just havent figured it out yet…or they could care less.

      • 45caliber

Keep in mind one thing – most of them are old.

If they can stall a few more years, they can pick up millions more and then retire when things start to get rough. They can get a good line in history books about being concerned for the common man (which they don’t consider themselves a part of) and they can get richer. If the country goes down or many people are ruined and perhaps starve – well, they have theirs.

The one thing that does amaze me is that they have no regards for their own children. If those children are among those who are ruined, etc. they simply don’t care. As I said, they have theirs. That’s all they are concerned about.

DaveH, I saw that and who’d a thunk people, let alone attendees at the Cancun Climate Change summit, would sign a petition to ban water.

As students from the Committee for a Constructive Tomorrow (CFACT) found it didn’t take much to get a petition signed at a conference on global warming?
      http://www.examiner.com/conservative-in-spokane/climate-change-delegates-sign-petition-to-ban-water

      • JeffH

CFACT writes: It was designed to show that if official U.N. delegates could be duped by college students into banning water, that they could essentially fall for anything, including pseudo-scientific studies which claim to show that global warming is man-caused.

        • DaveH

      No Liberals there…

      • DaveH

When I speak of Liberals, Bert, I am speaking of anybody who advocates Big Government as the solution to our problems. That includes many Republicans and many who think of themselves as Conservative (really they are Right-Wingers).
True Conservatives advocate the kind of Freedom that our Founders tried to insure for us, and which has been mostly lost by now.

        • DaveH

There is only one Political Party that fits that bill. The Libertarian Party.

Well… I wonder what the next crisis will be for this fool of a man?

Oh.. I bet it’s the one he created with 500 trillion in debt.
See that way China can rule this country…

The US will bring in the New World Order and its seat will be England. Governor Cornwallis (200 years ago)

. . . Debts must be collected mortgages foreclosed as rapidly as possible. When through the process of law the common people lose their homes, they will become more docile and more easily governed through the strong arm of government applied by a central power of wealth under leading financiers. . . . It is thus by discreet action we can secure for ourselves that which has been so well planned and so successfully accomplished. 1924 U.S. Banker’s Association Magazine

have unwittingly ruined my country. President Wilson, upon passage of the Federal Reserve Act, 1913

Today, America would be outraged if U.N. troups entered Los Angeles to restore order [referring to the 1991 LA Riot]. Tomorrow they will be grateful! This is especially true if they were told that there were an outside threat from beyond [i.e., an "extraterrestrial" invasion], whether real or promulgated, that threatened our very existence. It is then that all peoples of the world will plead to deliver them from this evil. The one thing every man fears is the unknown. When presented with this scenario, individual rights will be willingly relinquished for the guarantee of their well-being granted to them by the World Government. Dr. Henry Kissinger, Bilderberger Conference, Evians, France, 1991

A few who can understand the system (check money and credits) will either be so interested in it’s profits, or so dependent on its favors, that there will be no opposition from that class, while on the other hand, the great body of the people mentally incapable of comprehending the tremendous advantage that capital derives from the system, will bear it’s burdens without complaint, and perhaps without even suspecting that the system is inimical to their interests. Rothschild, London

All the property of this country now belongs to the state and will be used for the good of the state. FDR, 1933

It may appear that what goes on is happenstance, but the gov’t most surely has planned it. FDR

Freedom? Most of us…(adults) Have to work or Gamble, to live! To “pay” for Food, Shelter & Clothing. Yet: Pay Others, For Their Food, Shelter, & Clothing. Other Countries… ( O.P.E.C.) Want more ~ Charge more! More Laws made ~ More Fines Made. People are Gods Joke!

JeffH – Shocking, isn’t it? I saw this coming when the housing bubble was going strong, and didn’t fall for the easy equity loan scams.

Everything that has happened to our economy has been engineered. Those who still believe that the elites want to revive our economy are listening to Progressive liars who absolutely know better, but don’t want us to know until it’s too late.

Raggs and DaveH, since China now owns the largest uranium mine in the world in WYO. The next screw up, the jug eared marxist muslim moron will do, is trade oil feilds to pay off interest and maybe 1% pay off of the trillion dollar debt. Since the Soros Socialst Bastard Pukes let the EPA control all energy production. We are going to get hosed again, Onumnutts and the EPA stopped the Trans-Canada Pipeline from beign installed in Sept. going to the gulf. So we could sell down our full tanker farms full of crude, on the open market. Since plenty of stimulas money went to China and other countries, for green energy crap, instead of producing it here in the USA. When simple minded socialist morons cry about why USA jobs are leaving, first it is a the crap enviormental requirements, that foreign country don’t have, and all the reduntant permits that need to be approved by agency wonks, who don’t do anything with any sense expedancy. Most countries that are producing something, have a process of going in getting a permit, with what you will produce and your company name, pay the fee, get the pamphalet that has the rules and off you go in one day. India is a classic example of a new businesses. What sorry f–k ups, can we thank for sending all the jobs fleeing, The sorryassed Soros Socialist Slub Democrap Party. We still haven’t seen what new impedements, that are coming into sight in the next few years. They have already ruined local banks by not beigen able to loans business money, since some faceless smuck in the beltway now makes the call. Since the purple lipped muslim has never earned any of his own money, he has always lived off of taxpayers funds. Since he has not a nats rear of smarts of horse trading or negosating deals. Instead of USA selling our products, China will buy our land and own the property, our governemnt’s stupidity. Since Onumnutts and his agency idoits of the EPA, will do as they want and take us down farther the tube.Whore house let it happen when China bought a naval dock in SF in Cal. Still have any doubt what is going to happen, they now our a windfarm and oil feild in Tx.

It would be nice to see one fact amidst all the blather in these responses. “Why do all the heathen rage?”

    • http://! Angel Wannabe

Donald, why not follow some of the links provided, and decide for yourself if they’re real or imagined?

  • http://com i41

Donald, you want a fact, on Sept 14, 2010 EPA and the Onumnutts adminatration stopped the continuation of any further work on Tran-Canadian Pipeline. It has been in process of permitting and logistics the last 4 years. Another fact from autyomible facts, electric cars decrease, hybrid cars stayed the same and gas and diesel full size vehicles sold over 23-26% more, than last year. Shock the green idoits and the administration got the first hint of down turn of electric and hybrids isn’t what the public wants. Also greenies are finding battery creation is using way more resources and has more harmful effects, than crude oil extraction. Argue with those facts!

  • http://com i41

Another fact, the employment rate on the pipeline for hvy equipment opertors needed to start is over 8500, with wages averaging 24-32 dollars an hour. Plus it takes 5-7 support staff, not countong welders or truck drivers, some thing Onumnutts, EPA wonks, and pavement pounders don’t understand.

Tax Payers are to pay for it —– ( O.P.E.C.) To Profit From it!

  • David Dunlap

The original article cited the symbolic aspect of the mixing of parties but passed over it somewhat superficially. Human nature suggests the mixing will be an intimidator for logical responses to the State of the Union Address. I doubt that huge misrepresentations will be treated with “You lie” even if justified. The Simon Says factor will kick in. If the representative nearest another representative casts a disapproving eye or stands for an unjustified standing ovation, I’m sure that the media will herald the full agreement with the message as delivered. With the shennigans and orchestrations that have preceded, those who disagree with the President’s message will not be preceived as such. Those that disagree better be prepared for shennigans and orchestrations or the disagreement and momentum will be highly diluted.

Why is it that when the democrats lose, they never accept their loss, nor do the republicans enforce the loss upon them ?
    I’m pretty sick of it.
I’d be happy if the republicans smashed the democrats and cut them down in every area possible while they shrieked and whined, since they will anyway, constantly.
It’s always the republicans giving in and being “nice”.
It’s always the republicans bending over backwards after the dems get hammered in the polls.
Then the repubs “become democrats” and the slide into socialist fascism and the all powerful state continues.
    Not going to work.
Republicans need to become the evil, hard line, stubborn, hate filled jerks the democrats constantly proclaim them to be.
Do it now, do it often, do it always, then do it some more.

    • Bert Cundle

Believe it or Not: There is… a Stronger Power moving the strings of Dem’s & Repub’s.

    • Ronzo

Aren’t “smashed”, “cut them down”, and “hammered” all in the no-violence zone? Good lord man … oh, the humanity.
