Here Come Higher Taxes

Here Come Higher Taxes

The election is about the only thing grabbing headlines at the moment; but after next week, the screams about the impending “fiscal cliff” will reach a deafening media roar.

If Congress doesn’t take action to come to an agreement in its budget negotiations, more than 30 million already cash-strapped American households could be hit with the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT).

The election’s outcome is expected to serve well as an indicator of which party will have the most Congressional power in the discussions. But regardless of which Presidential candidate is elected, Americans’ taxes will go up if an agreement isn’t reached.

The Financial Services Roundtable urged lawmakers to “bridge over” the fiscal cliff to buy time to deal with more difficult issues surrounding taxes and spending.

“The fiscal cliff is imposing a negative drag on business lending, hiring, spending and investment right now, despite the actual ‘cliff’ being over two months away,” Tim Pawlenty, president and CEO of the Roundtable wrote to lawmakers.

Both Congress and the Senate have been grossly negligent in allowing the federal government to spend beyond its means. Now, they want to tax the rest of us to pay for it. Seize all their assets, take away their retirement and while your at it seize the Fed and its ill-gained fortunes as well. Then use that in the business of running our country instead of extorting more money from the citizens, many of which can no longer afford to eat thanks to the thievery of a corrupt bureaucracy.

Absolutely agree! I’ve said the same thing in another post on here some time ago. Strip them of all their investments, retirement, bank accounts, cars, homes, everything. Make THEM pay instead of We the People being on the hook for their evil.

They’ll need the money to pay for Romney’s Defense Dept. increases – that the DOD does not even want.

    • Ted Crawford

Not to worry Doc! The means tested entitlement checks will still be cut! Even in his spitefulness Obama wouldn’t dare stop those, that would get him Impeached, in a heartbeat! I wouldn’t be surprized, however, if he attempted to stop Social Security and Medicare payments!

I wonder what oblama’s and dingy harry’s attitude’s will be next week? Cooperative or petty, bitter and vindictive? I say the latter.

    • Ted Crawford

I’m betting the farm (and I don’t even have a farm) that you are right here Warrior! In addition to that , if what I’m hearing is the truth, many of the Regulatory Agencies are poised to drop large numbers of regulations on our heads after the election. Lead, it seems, by Lisa Jackson and the EPA, but almost certainly by Steven Chu, Ken Salazar, and Arne Duncan, at the very least!

As to taxes…. it occured to me that we 52% are paying 100% of the income taxes. And, ironically, that’s the same 52% that’s “not paying their fair share”. Which begs the question…. what’s fair?? 110%?? 125%?? 133%?? of the total?? Based on that logic, the “fiscal cliff” would be the patriotic “fair” thing and this is nothing more than a market correction to put Government in its imagined proper omnipotent role.

Taxes should be in accordance with what people earn. No ifs, ands, or buts.

  • jopa

The middle class is paying their fair share that’s why Obama will not raise the taxes on them if he can get the Republicans to go along. The first $250,000.00 of anyone’s income will not be affected by his plan and it’s just a very small 2-3% hike for the super rich.Just a lot of bellyaching over trivial matters in a time of war when we need an additional source of income to support the troops.

  • jopa

If Romney gets in there goes your mortgage deduction, charity contributions and child credits. That’s the only way to pay for his expanded six trillion dollar spending package and that won’t even be enough especially when his income group will be getting a huge tax cut.The man is just a puppet and for himself only.Him and his wife think he is the chosen one and it’s his turn to be the next President. The guy is a jerk and an embarrassment to this nation.
