Gun Control: Some States, Lawmakers Resist

Gun Control: Some States, Lawmakers Resist
PHOTOS.COM

Today at noon, President Barack Obama is expected to unveil the package of gun control proposals compiled by Vice President Joe Biden’s task force and presented to the commander in chief earlier in the week. The package likely includes an assault weapons ban, background checks and restrictions on magazine and bullet sales.

Also included in Obama’s presentation is expected to be a list of 19 executive orders that the President will take unilaterally in an attempt to control guns in America.

“The issue is: Are there some sensible steps that we can take to make sure that somebody like the individual in Newtown can’t walk into a school and gun down a bunch of children in a — in a shockingly rapid fashion?” Obama said at a news conference Monday. “And surely we can do something about that.”

While the Administration is prepared for heavy political blowback from 2nd Amendment advocates, it has signaled that it will aggressively court control measures that can be implemented without Congressional approval.

But not all hope is lost for Americans who are opposed to the draconian gun restrictions the President is expected to unveil today. With the exception of anti-gun strongholds like New York (which is expected to pass the first State legislation banning assault weapons and limiting magazine capacity since the Sandy Hook tragedy), lawmakers in some areas of the country have already began pushing back.

Earlier in the week, junior Representative Steve Stockman (R-Texas) said he would “seek to thwart” any attempts of executive action to implement stricter gun control laws in the United States, even if it means “filing articles of impeachment” against Obama.

In Jerusalem, Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) spoke to CBN News to weigh in on the President’s suggestion that executive orders may be used to implement new gun policy.

“I’m against having a king,” Paul said. “I think having a monarch is what we fought the American Revolution over and someone who wants to bypass the Constitution, bypass Congress– that’s someone who wants to act like a king or a monarch.

“I’ve been opposed to executive orders, even with Republican Presidents. But one that wants to infringe on the Second Amendment, we will fight tooth and nail,” he continued.

“And I promise you, there’ll be no rock left unturned as far as trying to stop him from usurping the Constitution, running roughshod over Congress,” Paul said. “And you will see one heck of a debate if he decides to try to do this.”

Beyond lawmakers seeking to thwart the Administration’s efforts to implement new gun laws via Presidential fiat, Obama and his Justice Department are also faced with a handful of States that are moving to put in place legislation to nullify the Federal gun efforts.

Here is a list of States currently working to strengthen gun rights:

Alabama

Alabama Governor Robert Bentley has publicly stated that he isn’t pursuing any gun control issues. Legislators in the State have proposed legislation guaranteeing protection against a Federal gun grab.

Alaska

No new gun laws expected. The State has passed the Firearms Freedom Act stating that any firearms made and retained in-State are beyond the authority of Congress under its Constitutional power to regulate commerce among the States.

Arizona

Lawmakers in the State have not yet introduced any firearm-specific legislation, but are expected to work to expand gun rights with the full backing of Governor Jan Brewer. The State has passed the Firearms Freedom Act.

Georgia

Lawmakers in the State have introduced legislation that would relax gun restrictions to allow for carry in churches and on campuses.

Iowa

Governor Terry Branstad said he will not support gun control legislation. Lawmakers in the State are expected to produce pro-gun legislation.

Idaho

No gun control measures are on the legislative agenda. The State has passed the Firearms Freedom Act.

Kansas

Lawmakers in the State are considering a bill to ease restrictions on concealed carry in State and municipal buildings.

Mississippi

Governor Phil Bryant “is strongly opposed to limiting Mississippians’ rights to bear arms.”

Montana

Republican lawmakers are forging a bill that would prohibit State enforcement of any Federal firearm bans on semi-automatic weapons and magazines. Another bill would disallow local governments’ ability to restrict firearms. Montana was the original State to pass the Firearms Freedom Act.

South Carolina

In response to concerns that the Federal government may try to restrict gun rights, lawmakers have proposed a Firearms Freedom Act to protect the 2nd Amendment rights of State residents.

South Dakota

A number of gun bills are said to be in the works in the State, but lawmakers expect that only pro-gun bills would pass. Lawmakers in the State have already passed the Firearms Freedom Act.

Tennessee

No anti-gun legislation is expected from Tennessee. The State has already passed a version of the Firearms Freedom Act.

Utah

The State is already a Firearms Freedom Act State.

Wyoming

Already a Firearms Freedom Act State, Wyoming lawmakers are backing a bill that would prohibit the State from enforcing any Federal restrictions on semi-automatic weapons or magazines. Bills also exist that would allow for concealed carry at schools and prohibit local governments from implementing gun bans.

These are States where legislative action suggests that gun control could intensify, with policies ranging from tougher background checks to all-out bans on different types of firearms being considered:

  • California
  • Colorado
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Illinois
  • Maryland
  • Massachusetts
  • New Jersey
  • New Mexico
  • New York
  • Oregon
  • Rhode Island
  • Vermont

Impeach if The President attempts an executive order!

    • Robert Smith

“In 1989, then President George H.W. Bush issued an executive order halting the importation of some semi-automatic firearms after a mass school shooting Stockton, California. He based his executive order on the 1968 Gun Control Act and used it to ban the shipment of what could be considered “assault weapons” unless they were used for sporting purposes. (Question: Did the free republic cease to exist then?)”

      From: http://www.politicususa.com/presidents-bush-clinton-executive-orders-reform-gun-laws.html

So, where was the advocacy to impeach Bush?

Again the right goes off on a tangent of hate for Obama.

Sheesh… Like a pack of dogs barking at they know not what.

      Rob

Bush didnt want to be KING and he has blainly gone against our Constitution like the wanabe king ,obama has cimmited more crimes against the Constitution than any other president ,he got four Americans killed in Libyia !!!watched them die and did nothing to help them ,he sold guns to drug cartells in mexico ,Bush didnt do any of this ,Impeach this commie

      • eddie47d

Bush and Reagan cost far more American lives at embassies and in war so what is your real point Gerald. [comment has been edited] Sarcasm due to your sarcasm!!

      • Homer

LOOK Mr. Smith, the idea here is: Bush or Obama are/were not good pres’ and yet Obama is NOT actually a legal pres. The man is PROVEN to be ILLEGAL! Has that already been established that his dad was born in Kenya and sooooo that makes him illegal. He was also BORN in Mombasa Kenya as his G-mom said he was ! This man is a communist ans it has been said by Time mag that the man is the first Homo-sexual pres and he is also a Muslim! The man is all wrong…He has usurped congress and has put this military in wars not auth by congress and has gone over, under and around congress to pass laws that suit his destruction of this nation! Bush was a ew One World Order &^%$#@# and yet he was NOT as bad a Obama..what GOOD has this man done except spend millions going bach and forth to hawaii etc and trapsing all over the world apologizing for this nation and bowing to our adversaries and Saudi Princes! You do, or think like you want. but obama is here for one reason….to destroy this nation unless the people make up their minds to repent of what has happened and IMPEACH this so called Selected, not elected,Pres!!

      • NativeBlood

The By-word in Bush’s and Clinton’s executive orders is “importation”. The cheaper Chi-Com and Soviet made AK series and SKS were much easier to obtain and preferred over the
domestic military semi-automatics whereby gang bangas could buy more firepower for the buck. The AR, at the time, was a domestically manufactured weapon and so were many others that were grand fathered in. The difference will not be truly known until President Obama addresses the nation with his proposals and then we will know if he will overstep
his authority by attempting to nullify the second amendment. (infringement to bear arms
regardless of it’s civilian or military nature)

        • robbiefine@hotmail.com

My view is that blowing away 20 six year olds in their classroom is not at all part of a “well regulated militia”. It’s important to read the entire amendment not just the last couple of words.

      • rendarsmith

You’re right Robert! Let’s impeach Bush right now!

      • Johnny

It was only an Import ban that had an end date, he didn’t ban some guns completely like the Dictator in the whithouse want too, big difference. His policies are a big reminder from Germany 1935.

      • BillyJ

Bush was not a Communist dictator wannabe.

      • Joe

You are absolutely correct. The gun advocates will defend what Bush did, but being a DEM and black, the gun advocates are against anything that makes sense.

Live By The Gun………Die By The Gun…………..

      • Texas Ride

Homer, that is a big “thumbs-up.”

More people than the retros can imagine feel the same way about the “girlie-man.”

And, as for the woman that carries around his kahonas, she should be thrown out of Washington on her behind. We need to turn over every rock and find out what makes this woman so important to girlie-guy. Why does she meet with the girlie-guy twice a day? Why does she have a big staff, and why does she have Security assigned to her? Could she get any kind of “security clearance” since she is in the middle of the business of our country!

I think if we knew everything about Valerie Jarett, a lot of questions we have about our girlie-pres, would be outed!

      • Stuart

You are correct Robert, he did sign the executive order and was not impeached, He was un-elected shortly thereafter! go figure

      • Bill

no one hates OB. What is hated is his take over the country and not follow the constitution. You might only get upset when he takes over your freedom of speech. At that point you might say the same thing as I am saying:. Hey man, Why you do this am I not protected by the constitution. His response will be that he the king not you, shut up or we’ll shut you up.

      • JeffH

Joe, it’s nice to see your racially motivated anti-gun comment…speaks volumes about your charachter or lack thereof.

        …Molôn Labé…

        • Joe

Hey JeffH…………….its all about race———-you gun thugs hate our black POTUS.

If this was Bush or Reagan—————you all would jump on the gun wagon. In fact what did Reagan & Bush do through Executive Order? Get freakin’ informed!

      • JeffH

Joe, get control of yourself! You are the racist here!

“Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt” – dishonest Abe Lincoln

        • Joe

Oh yes Jeff———–Live by yoiur gun…………Die by your gun……………

I am not a racist……………….but you all are…………….you hate POTUS Obama as he is black. You are the racist!

      • http://gravatar.com/hattles JeffH

Joe, all you’re doing is confirming your own racist beliefs. You’re delusional, seeing things that ain’t there.

Please, I beg you to take your accusations of racism elsewhere. I’m being nice…you should try it yourself rather than making unsupported statements and unsupported accusations based soley on personal ignorance.

        • Joe

JeffH………. its not ignorance……….I will leave it at that.

No it is not so STOP PUNISHING the militia for the acts of a single madman.

“It’s important to read the entire amendment not just the last couple of words.”

It’s important to comprehend what is written too.
        http://constitution.org/2ll/schol/2amd_grammar.htm

This is especially true for gun grabbers because as you pointed out they only seem to see the last couple of words “…be infringed”.

I notice that obama has been busy infringing on almost EVERY enumerated right in the Constitution so I guess he could explain to Clinton the meaning of “is”.

      • Vicki

        Joe says:
“The gun advocates will defend what Bush did, but being a DEM and black, the gun advocates are against anything that makes sense.”

Bush was an African-American? And a DEM (what is that btw?) Wow. Who would have known.

        - Joe: “Live By The Gun………Die By The Gun…………..”

Paid assassins and “hitmen” do tend to die that way. However I don’t think that most policemen, nor secret service, nor soldiers do.

        So what is your point?

      • Mikey

Everybody, PLEASE watch this video in it’s entirety. Some of the evidence shown here is hard to refute:

Anyone who gets hurt by a gun toting crook or someone who got the weapon illegally should sue Obozo personally, If car jacketed, sue Obozo personally, if killed in a gun free zone, sue Obozo personally, heck Hitler in the White House wll pay off with the money he stole from the citizens since he is making a plantation of slaves for his marxist agenda.

      • Robert Smith

Stuart says: “You are correct Robert, he (Bush) did sign the executive order and was not impeached, He was un-elected shortly thereafter!”

Yup, and Obama has been threatened with all sorts of garbage from the right wing and he has been reelected.

Vickie; The militias of today are nothing like the militias that came to the aid of our Founding Fathers. If the militias of today were sane the good ones would have put an end to the extremists who hijacked their cause. Think Hutaree,McVeigh and the Alaskan Peacekeepers Militia.

~300 MILLION Americans didn’t shoot anyone. A significant portion of those ARE THE MILITIA of the United States. (10 USC § 311) STOP trying to disarm the militia.

STOP PUNISHING THE INNOCENT for the actions of a few criminals

        STOP IT
        STOP IT NOW.

      • Patrick Henry

Do we HEAR each other? STOP THIS great divide, we are all great loving Americans. The media frinzy is doing a psy ops on us trained by the Pentagon machine of brainwashing. I,m from CT and my family was stocked by this murder. This is not politics, this not a debate, this is a crime. Like General Wesley Clark said, “MASS CASUALTY PRODUCING EVENTS, to furtherongstanding plans for implementation of long standing legislation.” We are all being played, its called mental psy ops abuse, the media is playing us against each other, both sides of them. STOP being played and being DIVIDED.

      • eddie47d

Your not being punished Vickie we just want to to wake up to some common sense . No matter how safe you think those guns(semi-automatics) are making you they are making this a more dangerous country for others. Those militias I mentioned well their members think just like you and want the same rights and are willing to do alot of damage (killing) to keep their agenda. I do not agree with that kind of extremism and violence.

    • manuel rosa

this president is long overdue for impeachment.
he has broken every law and threadedfoot on the constitution and in addition he is a threat to national security.
not only that he makes he is such a smart evil, and makes the good people stupid, thats how he gotten reeledted.

      • Joe

        Are you a racist?

        • robbiefine@hotmail.com

Am I a racist? No. Why on earth would you ask such a question? Because you wrote stuff that can not be understood? I suggest you read what you wrote or show it to people and see if they understand it.

        • Joe

Guns are useless………..what you don’t like our POTUS? Why because he is a black educated male. Unlike you, you are nothing more than a coward whom is insecure. Go ahead hide in your cave with your gun………………

What the deaths of 20 innocent children in Newtown, CT is not enough for a change?

Too bad it was not your kid! You are pathetic & pitiful!

      • JeffH

Joe, why is it necessary for you to publicize your own racism? Nobody but you has brought the race card into the conversation. Perhaps you could consider trolling your racist comments on another website, one that would welcome racist shills and racist trolls with open arms.

        • Joe

So why do you all refer to Our POTUS as a person that you do?

Why do so many GOP & Tea Baggers dislike him?

I have a job to do and I am doing it.

          • JeffH

Joe, get this through your thick head! He’s disliked because of his politics…he’s a radical Alinsky trained Marxist/communist/facsist/socialist. He’s a liar, a manipulator and a warmonger. He’s a politician, he’s been a lawyer and just like 90% +- of our representatives he is an eletist, a puppet for the One Worlder’s , the Federal Reserve and the Central Banks.

Then again, I can read and I can comprehend. I don’t rely on the MSM, including FOX, Rush, Hannity, Madcow, Sgt. Ed Schultz, tinly Matthews for my sources of news.

Just by your own comments, not only are you a racist but you have become a puppet, a “usefull idiot” for the very eletists you probably despise.

Lolon Labe…if you think you can!

Since you are just getting started, I suggest you read this letter from a soldier about what is now beginning in America. He is speaking to all of us, but he does make a special point to address those of you who work for the Leftist machine:

Short memo you obviously missed: the racist cr*p doesn’t fly anymore. We’re completely on to who you are and the tactics you use. Just so you know.

If he’s paid to be here, he won’t have that job for very long. Well, on second thought, I may be wrong on. Quite a few shills get paid for stupid. Could that be a job requirement for progressives? Just thinkin out loud.

I don’t understand what you’re saying. What does this mean?: “not only that he makes he is such a smart evil”. I can’t figure it out. Also what is this?: “thats how he gotten reelected.” Thats how he gotten? Maybe english is not your first language but as a high school teacher of 28 years I would advise you to read over and correcting your work before sending.

      • Kate8

JeffH – Hey…you read the job description. Shills are hired BECAUSE of their ignorance and cluelessness. They don’t want people who are able to reason, or even think. They want people who will say whatever they’re told to say for money. Nothing else matters.

If these shills knew why they were chosen, they might actually be offended… That is, if they were intelligent enough to figure it out.

Like I always say, useful idiots are still idiots when their usefullness runs out. Then they become a liability.

Why did you refer to Bush like you did? You leftists didn’t use nice terms for him and you didn’t mince words when you shared them either. Now that we don’t like Obama’s politics and policies and what he is doing to our country you conveniently claim racism.

        The latest:

THE PEOPLE WHO ARE ADVOCATING FOR GUN BANS.

      • Jana

        Kate8,
Have you seen how much his CONTROLS are going to cost? 500 MILLION DOLLARS. Good grief, all this man Obama knows how to do is spend and spend spend. He has no intentions of reducing the budget or cutting spending in any way.

I am new to this site but I am detecting that some of the writers such as Ben exhibit quite a high level of frustration, even anger. Before an election they like to tout the virtues of democracy and all that but if their candidate does not win they get all upset. I call that the poor loser syndrome.

  • Robbie Gee

There are many more states than listed here. What is up with those that are missing, like Texas?

    • JTex

It went up in the legislature yesterday.

      • Robbie Gee

        Thanks!

    • eddie47d

In 1890 Texas Governor James Hogg was a strong supporter for the need for gun control. He said “the mission of the concealed deadly weapon is murder” and “too check it in (weapon) is the duty of every respecting law abiding citizen”. I reckon there are a few Texans with some cojones and common sense.

      • Cork Meyer

The last time I checked it is 2013 and Rick Perry is Governor. In Wyoming we are not up for political usurpation of an illigitimate president

      • eddie47d

They had controls in the Wild West to stop killings but some of you still can’t move into a civilized modern world.

      • Joe

Yes there are some Texans with commonsense.

      • Texas Ride

Yep, they had controls in the Wild West!

The Hanging Tree! No big trial and immediate Justice!!

Much better process than we have today where these shooters can spend decades on trial and death row, at the taxpayers expense.

Lets bring back “The Hanging Tree!”

      • CZ52

Other controls they had were Colt, S&W, and other pistols; Winchester, sharps, Spencer, and other rifles; double barrell shotguns and towards the end of the era various repeating shotguns.

The Dalton gang raid on Coffeeville Kansas was stoppes by private citizens using their personal firearms to shoot the gang to “doll rags” as the saying goes. Out of I believe 5 gang menbers there was one survivor Emmett Dalton and he had been shot multiple times. In the James-Younger raid on Northfield Minn. the citizens shot up and ran off the gang using their privately owned firearms.

Good for New York State. At least one state has the courage to stand up to the gun lobby. Yes that would be the NRA and GOA. Will it work for New York? Probably not since the gun runners have no moral values and will sell to the devil for a buck. Another problem for New York is that every crime of any nature will be a poster boy statistic for the NRA. They will proclaim that “only if that person had a gun they would be alive today”. We all know that New Yorkers aren’t losing the right to defend themselves but the NRA won’t care one diddly about facts.

    • Bill

There you go, Eddie, move to New York. Feel free to walk the streets at night knowing that there is less crime from the gun laws

      • eddie47d

More typical sarcasm from Bill! LOL!

eddie – Sarcasm? No. I think Bill is saying it like it is.

NYC isn’t bad and I was there 3 times when it was inflicted with gun violence and the cops were even meaner, 1972-1983. Even took my kids who were 5-11 years old and had to walk two miles away to a parking lot and even went into the Bowery and the Bronx. Fear is a state of mind and you all show it well!

    • Jon Walser

      “we all know”
I, being part of we, know no such thing.
What we do know is that an armed, or possibly armed victim is far less attractive to a criminal than a helpless victim. We do know that all pogroms in the last hundred years and more have been preceded by a disarming of the victims of that pogrom. We do know, that the most represive regimes in modern history have made it a policy to disarm their own citizens. We also know that the statistics, in the United States, of violent crime are clearly in favor of arming more, not fewer citizens…if our goal is a reduction in that violent crime.

What I suspect is that hoplophobes, such as you, fear their neighbors because you judge them by the darkess in your own heart. My neighbors seem to have guns, as I hear them being shot from time to time. That brings only curiosity to my mind, not fear, as I assume them to be as good as I.

      • eddie47d

I’ll have to ask my neighbor (former police chief in Denver) to fire off a couple of rounds and see what happens. Hearing gunshots in some parts of the city would not be a welcoming sound.

        • Jon Walser

Were I still in the city, I’d have concerns. Where there is space enough…not so much.
I do find it interesting that you assume your neighbor could get away with it, where you could not. I really hate law that depends on who you are, or know.

      • eddie47d

Who were you replying to Jon. I was in reference that my neighbor wouldn’t get away with it.

    • Texas Ride

The ban passed in New York City did nothing to stop crime or murder! Just in case you hadn’t heard, the criminals and the crazies don’t obey gun laws! In fact, any laws banning the ownership of any kind of firearms for law-abiding citizens, will increase murder and crime!

Government doesn’t care about criminals or shooters. If they did, they would legislate against the criminals instead of legal gun owners.

Any new gun law or bans, are made to control the law-abiding citizens that go through registration process and register their guns. Law-abidding citizens are being targeted by this regime, and are being lead with “baby-steps” to the outlawing of guns for private individuals. To spout-off to the contrary means you are a liberal wimpy girlie-man, afraid of guns or a brainwashed marxist that is promoting the confiscation of firearms. And, why would the regime want to have an unarmed citizenry?

We know the drill! We even see through the fact that the girlie-man is going to surround himself with KIDS today at his press conference. (Reminds me of the terrorists surrounding themselves with kids so they won’t get fired upon.) I guess that is a moo-tactic..

Folks from the left don’t want religious nuts telling them who they can marry via government intervention. (remember a civil contract from the government… even atheists can marry).

Folks from the left want to exit this life when they want to, particularly if they are in pain and there is no hope for a cure. Even in something as personal as that those on the right stop it.

And so on with the other freedoms that are crushed by those who want to run the lives of others.

Thomas; Your right to defend yourself will not be affected. Your right to hunt will not be affected that is if you are a normal hunter or at least a good shot. You’ll still have the right to keep the .45 by your bedside. Now Thomas instead of using the bad guy as an excuse what are you doing to keep the “bad guy” from obtaining their weapons? Most guns found at crime scenes or on the perp were legally obtained through straw purchases. Internet sales and unscrupulous gun owners and a few dealers. So you think everyone who owns a gun is Honest Abe? Think again! There was an article in the paper last week that Colorado has 2,036 gun shops in private homes where the owner has background checks but a few of them can sell to anyone without a background check for the buyer. Yes indeed it’s fairly simple for a “criminal” to purchase a weapon. Love them lax laws which are favored by the NRA.

        Eddie,

With all due respect to your opinion, however, it is only your opinion. I would suggest that you research how the citizens of both the UK and Australia have fared under the gun controls imposed on them by their “representatives”. I would suggest you view the following videos for and honestly reflect on your beliefs. Even the police in the Uk & Australia are now admitting that the laws passed in their countries were a bad mistake.

The sole strategy of Progressives is to poke and provoke. Causing Americans to either act or react and it’s quite obvious that they would prefer a violent reaction. After all, what’s the purpose of all those Billions of bullets that Obama has bought, the FEMA camps that are empty and waiting, the thousands of armored SWAT vehicles purchased with Federal grants, the 30,000 drones scheduled to patrol our skies, the NDAA legislation to detain American citizens indefinitely without trial. Do you really believe it’s all being put together to deal with a few thousand domestic potential Jihadists? I certainly don’t.

For the sake of the discussion we will assume your ststement is accurate (although doubtful given your past record). If a person is acting as a gun dealer he is already breaking the law if he does not have a federal license and possibly a state license as well depending on the state laws where you live (Colorado?). If he is not prosecuted for acting as a dealer without a license the problem is NOT lax laws but rather lax enforcement of those laws.

      • Texas Ride

Walt, those are all good points and hard for radical retros to defend.

Another part of the gun controls being implemented is that medical doctors are going to be required to ask their patients if they have guns. The doctors will ask, how many, where the guns are kept and what kind. Doctors will be held responsible by the regime to report any patient with guns. Can you imagine the lawsuit if a doctor didn’t report his patient and the patient misbehaves with a gun involved! So, the government has just enlisted doctors to their list of informants.

      • Dave

“Most guns found at crime scenes or on the perps were legally obtained.” WRONG!!! As one judge said, ” In my 30 years on the bench, I’ve only seen one weapon legally registered used in a homicide!” Think again, buddy!

      • http://gravatar.com/hattles JeffH

Mr. Alinsky goes to Washington and he’s after you guns!

You can’t compromise by giving something away. If I own 10 acres of land, and you want five, we can’t compromise at two. They’re my damn acres of land.

In the gun violence debate, high-capacity magazines are a red herring. Firing 30 rounds with a single magazine or six five-round clips is a difference of about three seconds for anyone proficient with firearms. This debate isn’t about safety. The gun-control fanatics don’t care about safety. They don’t like guns. Does anyone believe that the anti-gun lobby will be satisfied if we surrender high-capacity magazines? After the next atrocity, they’ll have a new list of demands.

These are Alinskyite tactics. For those who still haven’t read “Rules for Radicals,” this is how leftists achieve their goals. They blame an enemy (the rich, big tobacco, the fossil fuels industry, corporations, Wall Street, gun owners, etc. — anyone with something to lose) and they harass that enemy until it offers a concession. Then they ask for more.

What they want is a concession. A concession, however small and inconsequential, says to the world that, yes, guns (or whatever) are evil. Concessions are an admission of guilt without a trial. Once an unsuspecting industry admits guilt, they’ve told their harassers that harassment works. The game is up. And the harassment never stops. Neither do the concessions. Over time, the small concessions become so routine that liberals start demanding larger ones. The end result is the same: less freedom and more government.

And as long as I’m predicting the future, let me look into my crystal ball. President Obama appointed Joe Biden to mastermind his gun grab, replete with buzzwords like compromise and balance and middle ground. This week Joe Biden is going to ask for something ridiculous. He’s going to point to murdered children. Then he’ll ask gun owners to be reasonable. Then he’s going to propose an infringement on the Second Amendment that gun owners can’t possibly accept. If history is any guide, the GOP will throw a high-pitched hissy fit. MSNBC will find a semi-famous gun owner saying something outrageous. The rest of the media will pick up the sound bite and go with the story. When Republican congressmen protest, Biden is going to whine in front of cameras about the intransigence of the far right.

Biden is going to find his inner Buddha and propose a middle way. He’ll pretend that he’s acquiescing when he merely asks for a federal ban on high-capacity magazines.

That’s how conservatives lose. That’s how we always lose: We rely on reason. The facts about gun violence, common sense, our nation’s history and FBI statistics indicate that an armed America is a safer America. But cool-headed arguments don’t always prevail. Today, emotions trump facts every time.

:) Hear Hear! No more compromising.

There is nothing the treasonous “Marxist in charge” and his treasonous anti-gun minions can do or say that will surprise any of us normal red blooded American patriots.

We already know what Obama, the master of deciet, will do…at his anti-gun press conference he’ll march out the children and put them on display to tug at the heartstrings of kind people and fully manipulate their emotional weaknesses…ala Alinsky.
He’ll say he doesn’t want to infringe on the 2nd Amendment or take anyones guns away…he just wants a “common sense approach”(code words for confiscation)to stop these mass murders of children with assault weapons. Is this “manipulation”. Of course it is and only if someone is ignorant enough to buy into it and believe it.

Senator Manchin said it best: “what the media will do if Congress (including the US House of Representatives) fails to pass an AWB and/or mag restrictions.”

“They will one, by one, put up pictures of dead children. They will show the carnage,”

“Considering that tomorrow, President Obama will be exploiting children by dragging them on stage with him while he outlays his plan, this is not a huge leap,” recalled West Virginia Citizens Defense League president Keith Morgan “And these are the words of a United States senator. … That is a direct quote. Verbatim.”

The Second Amendment actually does not use the word guns. It says “arms” which could be a wider range of weaponry. Seeing as some folks are so keen to let nuts run around schools, malls, theatres, etc shooting people why not start allowing ownership of bombs? Or bazookas. Then instead of just blasting to death 20 young children they could blow up the entire school building and everyone in it. A job worth doing is worth doing well! And, by the way, there was an armed policeman in the school in Columbine during that mass shooting – how did that work out for you?

    • Ben

Hey Robbie, do you know the worst mass killing in the US was in 1927? Here is the text:
May 18, 1927: The Bath School disaster is the name given to three bombings set off by Andrew Kehoe; in Bath Township, Michigan. A total of 38 students and 7 adults were killed; with at least 58 people were injured. The incident still stands as the deadliest mass murder in a school in U.S. history.

And where have the majority of mass killings happened? in the GUN FREE ZONES where the people are the targets.

      • robbiefine@hotmail.com

There’s no such thing as a gun free zone. If restrictions on guns – or any other thing – are not NATIONAL then effectiveness is greatly reduced. South Dakota could go gun free but if North Dakota does not then it doesn’t take much to get a gun in ND and drive south now does it?

      • Dennis48e

“There’s no such thing as a gun free zone.’

Exactly the point. So long as there are guns in any country in the world there can be no such thing as a “gun free zone”. The ONLY way to stop gun violence is to somehow magicly remove every gun in existance and also the knowledge of how to manufacture them.

      • M

Robbie, you think criminals are going to abide by new laws? Any laws?! That’s why they’re called criminals!! They break the law and will continue to do so. What criminal is all of a sudden gonna say, you know what, I better turn in my guns (which s/he prob obtained illegally in the first place) because Gov Cuomo or Pres Obama says so. Wake up stupid.

        • robbiefine@hotmail.com

Don’t worry, I am awake. Here’s what you just don’t get: you pass a law that takes major assault weaponry totally off the shelves so that only the military ever gets them. Such weapons are fine in Afghanistan and Iraq but not so fine in the hands of a nut standing in a classroom full of six year olds. Criminals can disobey a law but it would be rare to find a criminal who could build his own assault semi automatic machine gun. And bullets for them are really hard to construct on your own. I just don’t think they have the skills needed for all of that. Hopefully I’ve cleared up your lack of understanding on this issue.

          • Jon Walser

Why build one when it’s so easy to steal one? Military weapons go ‘missing’ all the time, then it’s just a matter of smuggling. And we know how effective the powers that be have been in stopping that, don’t we?
As far as manufacturing a semi-automatic rifle..given a few, easily obtainable tools, that’s not so very difficult either.
The ammunition isn’t special, particularly the bullet (that’s the little piece of lead that goes out the barrel). Handloaders have been manufacturing ammunition for a very long time.

So, to obtain the utopia you envision, we need to have such an intrusive government that we can’t obtain tools, smuggling is finally stopped, and all the existing tools for such are searched for and found and confiscated…welcome to 1984.

          • robbiefine@hotmail.com

Well I would have to tip my hat to you if you are able to build a rifle from scratch. To me that would be impressive. Of course a ban will always be evaded by some but it sure would cut our losses. Even if it was just 90% effective that would be worth it. And, to further illustrate, just because there will always be those who break the speeding laws is no reason to not have speed limits.

      • eddie47d

M that is not necessarily true and criminals do get their guns legally and far more often than stealing them.

      • Dennis48e

eddie just how ignorant can you be. If a person is a felon he cannot legally possess, own, or purchase a firearm. In fact it is against the law for the felon to even pick up a gun to look at it. For a felon to buy or attempt to buy a gun is illegal no matter if at a gun shop or from an individual.

O.K., I get it. There will always be folks who want to break the law therefore let’s not even try. Let’s just repeal every single law and totally give up. A return to the jungle. There you go.

Such the quitter. (hmmmm. Might be ad hominem)

How about this. Let’s punish people for breaking a Constitutional law. That way we don’t have to get rid of every single law. Just the large number of unconstitutional ones. That will get us back to what the founders created.

A government who’s sole job was PROTECTING our individual rights INCLUDING the right to KEEP and BEAR ARMS.

Btw if you were actually to keep criminals IN JAIL you would not have to care about them running loose in society and buying guns on any market.

Then you can QUIT PUNISHING THE ~300 MILLION INNOCENT Americans.

        • robbiefine@hotmail.com

You have forgotten the bit about being part of a well regulated militia.

Robbie says, “Well, actually, it has worked to an extent. Perfect? For sure not. But just because it will never be perfect is your decision to simply not try, simply do nothing? The little childred deserve more of an effort than that.”

No, it’s actually made things worse and more dangerous.

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants. They serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, fore and unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.” – Thomas Jefferson

I’m all for doing something to try and curb tragedies like the one that happened to those children. We just disagree on how to do that effectively. As far as I can tell, not one proposal made – magazine capacity, registration, and not even the banning of assault rifles – would have stopped or prevented that tragedy. What good is it to do something that is ineffective? To make you feel better in the false belief that you made a difference? No, the answer is not gun control laws. The answer is in allowing those licensed to carry a firearm anywhere by eliminating gun free zones (that criminals such as these care nothing about, obviously. The only laws that would make sense would be state laws (or through district policy) that require extra-ordinary training and munitions requirements for any school staff member or teacher who wish to exercise their right on campus.

        • robbiefine@hotmail.com

Columbine High School has an armed police officer on duty. Didn’t work out too well did it?

      • TML

Robbie says, “You have forgotten the bit about being part of a well regulated militia.”

The idea that a being part of, or a need for, a well-regulated militia as a condition on the 2nd Amendment has been debunked throughout history by the courts many times. The 2nd Amendment protects an individual right to bear arms.

        • robbiefine@hotmail.com

Try reading the Amendment – right at the outset it notes a “well regulated militia” as a precondition for the right to bear arms.

      • Robert Smith

        Posted: “That’s why they’re called criminals!! ”

Actually the VA, Theater, and School shooters didn’t have any criminal records. So, on that basis there was no reason to deny them firearms.

However all, and particularly the theater shooter, were under the care of a shrink. The bad guy even sent a package to her, and there was a debate about whether his “privacy” was protected.

Sheesh… Where is the common sense in the gun debate?

        Rob

      • eddie47d

Wake up Dennis! Do you think a felon becomes a criminal without the means to commit his crime? They don’t wake up at age 20 and say this is the life I want. They are as legal and qualified as you to purchase a weapon. They don’t become criminals or felons until the crime is committed long after they acquired their guns and yes quite often legally!

The presence of a REASON for the people to individually have the right to keep and bear arms is not a condition of any type. Even SCOTUS noticed that in the Heller decision.

Yes, you got it: our police forces! But then you probably don’t trust the police right?

          • Patriot

I trust the police to arrive when it is possible for them to arrive, not necessarily when they are needed.
I have friends that are police officers and have much respect for them. And each of them believes in personal firearms ownership, including ‘assault’ weapons.
I am going shooting with a friend of mine that is a Watch Commander tomorrow. We will be bringing our AR-15′s.
And we are Californians. Go figure.
Now, tell the people of England that while their homes are being invaded at a 40% higher rate than in the US, while their women are being raped at a STAGGERING 62% higher rate than ours, while their shop keepers are getting robbed at 20 TIMES the rate ours are, that they should just be good little citizens and wait for the police. I am sure they will agree with you. Oh, right, they HAVE to wait while being brutalized at 3.5 times the violent crime rate of the US….because they don’t have the option to defend themselves….

    • eddie47d

That’s so passe Bill T and not necessarily true. Besides “an armed society is NOT a polite society” or any of the other cliches the you all like to use. The NRA when founded use to have some common sense and was for gun control. Those two Yankee fellows who said patriots (citizens) needed to be better prepared to STOP insurrections against the government founded the NRA. The NRA has totally flip flopped and now wants to take down the government. The Constitutional Rights weren’t even an issue in 1871 and wasn’t pushed by the NRA until the 1970′s. Back then the US government gave the NRA surplus weapons for training purposes and target practice also. The NRA supported the first gun control laws which were enacted in the 1920-30′s. That’s when gangsters controlled the streets with weapons of mass killing. They helped get those weapons banned and crime was reduced and the criminal was put on notice. Now the NRA has flipped flopped and wants more weapons on the streets including those of mass killings. Back then they supported background checks and waiting periods too. My have they changed! They even worked with LIBERAL FDR on the 1934 and 1968 gun bills. In 1963 when Lee Harvey Oswald ordered his Italian surplus weapon from the American Rifleman Magazine the NRA had a conscience and stopped those kinds of advertising and mail orders. My have times changed since NRA Vice President Franklin Orth was in charge! Even Governor Reagan in 1967 said “there is no reason why on the streets of today a citizen should carry a loaded weapon”. Its odd that in 1968 that the Gun Control Act barred mentally ill from owning a weapon. So where did this breakdown come from and why did the NRA become so extreme that it is no longer recognizable from years past.

      • daleh

        Eddie–

The only reason that crime was reduced is that the Govt got rid of Prohibition—that was the reason along with the Depression that caused the jump in crime in the first place—no matter what laws are written to control weapons , there will always be someone that will use a weapon in an unlawful way—it has always been that way and it will always be that way–simply because of men/women being human-someone will always envy someone else for what they have and want that too and will do whatever it takes to have it –even if it means killing for it –and the person that is being assaulted should have the means to defend himself/herself if and when that happens—

If you do not wnat that ability , that is your choice , but your choice should not interfere with anyone’s God Given right and 2nd Amendent right to defend themselves—

      • eddie47d

Yes Vickie STOP PUNISHING THE INNOCENT! NOW! The NRA is now a shell of what it once was and all they do is deal in death with the conscience of a snake!

I really like how eddie47d is trying to use words and phrases he obviously doesn’t understand. Prima facie evidence in the quote above.

Why do I like it? Cause it lets us see more of the liberal mind and notice that they have no valid counter argument to the simple fact that they are punishing millions of people for the actions of a few criminals.

      • Patriot

        Forget it, Vicki.
A couple of weeks ago I cited statistics from the UN that showed that the gun ban in England created a country with less than a 1/3 of our population and three and a half times the crime. I also provided statistics from the UN on the rise in crime in Australia subsequent to their confiscation of private firearms.
Aside from that, it has been painfully obvious that if gun control worked so well, then Oakland and Chicago would be two of the safest cities in the country. And they are far from it.
Eddie, and others that think the way they do, are only interested in facts if they support their ideologies. When the facts contradict their beliefs, they are most often ignored and supplanted with emotion based arguments that hold no weight in the discussion.
I have read his posts quietly for weeks. He will never agree to logic, reason, and discussion based on factual data. Only ideology. So stop frustrating yourself by engaging him. It serves only to entertain him.

Still cozying up to the NRA Patriot and how slick and unrelentingly dangerous they have become. Just because you don’t like that fact doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Come on, get with it and demand your FULL rights to carry any weaponry you want.

have been reading your posts and you sound more like a HS student than you do a teacher–

It looks to me like you have led a very sheltered life and you didn’t learn much from your students–sorry to sound critical , but thats how i see your posts that is the impression you have given —-

Parts for a weapon can be had in many places and some folks can make their own parts without bothering to go to a store to buy material –I am not one of them, but there are many that can –guns of all kinds can be outlawed or confiscated , but there will always be guns and weapons available in the US–

Americans , even some Liberals , have for too many generations been free to own and use a weapon, and that right according to the 2nd Amendment will guarantee that right–I do not think that there will be enough guts for politicians to amend the Constitution to make that right void–not enough states will vote yes on amending the Constitution to get rid of the 2nd Amendent–new york politicans be damned —no guts there—

        • robbiefine@hotmail.com

I’m sorry if you happen to disagree with my various points. I’m not very handy but it seems to me to be rather a challenge to build an assault weapon from scratch. Probably a few folks working in a machine shop could do it but I bet the average mental case would not be able to do so. A lot of lives will saved once we get these murder machines out of the shops and off the streets. Maybe even your life.

Also important to look at what the everyday Americans think. There is a common factor in many if not all the mass shootings: prescription drugs. Every time one of these people go off the reservation you find out they were under some kind of doc care. Drugs have serious side effects but drug companies are not liable for anything even when they admit the side effects. Look it up. The batman shooter in court didn’t look as if he knew his own name he was so messed up. Its obvious all of the is a classic case of Problem/reaction/solution …look it up.
the gov already knows what they want to do . All this meetings and such is purely for show.
Fast and Furious was illegal and nobody got into trouble. People were murdered and nobody got in trouble. The entire premis for fast and furious was gun control.
one thing all these dummies do not realize is this.
if you remove the guns from law abiding citizens then the crime rate will go up. The police will not protect anyone. They will be merely there to clean up and take notes for reports. Ask any cop in a high crime area like Chicago or New York. They can’t do anything now about crime except reports and notes. What do people think will happen when its wide spread across the country? Cops are good now for traffic citations and that’s about it.
take away the citizens defenses and see how crime skyrockets.
23 people gunned down in Chicago already this month and Chicago is a tightly controlled gun area.
that is what will happen everywhere if you take away guns. Criminals are ecstatic about this I garantee

    • eddie47d

Gentlejax:Yet gun laws are loose in Arizona and killings are up and Hawaii has gun control and killings are down. So those kinds of statistics don’t take everything into account. The States of Louisiana and Mississippi (weak laws) have a murder rate that is higher than Chicago or all of Illinois (strong laws). Guns deaths in NYC are way down with tougher gun laws and I’m sure it can be said that some cities like Kennesaw Ga are safer because of more guns. So it works both ways and a necessary compromise is needed to enact reasonable laws that are for the benefit of the majority. Now as far as Fast & Furious goes it was those rouge gun dealers in Phoenix that were selling guns to Mexico that started that whole operation up. Instead of prosecuting them upfront the ATF used them to catch more gun traffickers which backfired. There were three prosecutions in that case but rather lenient. (3-9 years). I do agree that Big Pharma has pushed way too many drugs on society for every conceivable ill. Some create more problems than they solve.

      • Dave

UMMMM, Eddie, one of the guns found at a crime scene was registered to the head of ATF! It was a govt scheme to do what they are doing now, except, they got caught!

      • Wellarmed

Eddie you are unfortunately suffering from the same affects of psychotropic drugs that batman shooter seemed to have been ingesting. The minute president Barack Obama claimed Executive Privilege he indicted himself in the eyes of the American People. It was the FFL dealers themselves that were fighting the sales of firearms to straw purchasers. They were coerced by force from the BATFE to let these weapons walk across our border into the waiting hands of cartel members. You should absolutely be ashamed of your self for defending this sorry piece of S%#t currently in our white house.

This operation Fast and Furious was THE pretext for gutting second amendment liberties. This President can no more claim executive privilege to cover his criminal activities than could Richard Nixon during Watergate. We as a nation are on a very dangerous path as the media which should be performing its duty of objective reporting, has decided to instead take up sides with this want to be dictator. Their time will come, as they made their bed and they will soon have to sleep in it.

If you wish to see this model of where we are headed as a nation, look no further than south of our border. Thousands upon thousands of people turn up “missing”, everyday in Mexico and before you or anyone else jump to some conclusion that it is merely all drug related and therefore we should not be concerned as this is happening thousands of miles away. Think again. This is the Model that OUR government is attempting to emulate and disarming the populace is but one part to this process. Do you think that these ( subjects ) in Mexico are living out their years imprisoned in some club fed? Please think before you spew more crap out of your mouth. You know dam well that they are all in some mass grave for god who knows what reason? Maybe they were merely attempting to exercise their first amendment rights in the face of unspeakable corruption occurring on their soil.

Look Eddie I have no idea who you are any of these other poster are on the other side of my key board, nor do I care. If you were CIA or NSA it really matters not to me. You have no idea what a false flag operation is nor do you believe that such operations exist, based on your statements. I do worry that all you are attempting to do is rile someone, anyone reading these posts to commit an act of violence to trigger a state of Marshal Law. That is exactly what this president is attempting to do through his Executive Order. Americans need not take the bait. You know dam well as I that registration of firearms or ammo/reloading equipment is a form of confiscation. People reading this know that mandatory registration is a form of confiscation, and that is why they are so concerned.

People are wasting their time attempting to provide you with analogies, as to why the presidents actions are such an incredibly bad idea. You have clearly already made up your mind, and this president can do no wrong regardless of how many children ( collateral damage ) are killed through US drone strikes. I am certain that during the Bush years you would have been the first person to condemn such actions, but now all is well in the Land because you cannot stop drinking the Kool Aide. This is not a D or an R issue. Both sides are complicit and culpable, and the fact that the Fed cannot stop the growth of the industrial military complex should be of concern to you and everyone reading this.

You are a hypocrite sir / mrs? whoever you are? Good Day.

Apparently you are new here for I have condemned the F & F operation but I like the facts behind the facts in why things started in the first place. So many guns were being bought by those in Mexico even G Bush had a similar program to stop the flow. One of those dealers in Phoenix was X-Caliber. So your name calling is what you should be ashamed of! Yes you need to read all the posts on this site and violence is preached daily by those on the right so don’t be fooling yourself on that either! I have condemned Obama’s going into Syria several times so maybe you are the trolling “hypocrite”.

      • Dennis48e

eddie if I am wrong post a link proving it.

If I remember correctly the Phoenix case involved the husband-wife co-owners of one gun store. Hardly a major problem considering the number of gun dealers in AZ. Also I believe they were only targeted for prosecution after they exposed an undercover BATF agent that was trying to get them to break the law.

      • eddie47d

I was referring to before the BTAF got involved.

  • ibcamn

geeze…..here we go again,in history the tyranny of leaders and kings has always been a major problem and has always failed!Obama and his henchmen use children to get what they want, parade them around and sing songs to their king or leader, blah blah blah….read history at the type of leaders that use kids to show people they are caring, yep,….i’m gonna use the big “H”word ………..what?i’m talking “History”,learn it,read it,gun control for this man is no differant!you watch what he’ll do with these kids,oh,and how is that fat little welfare kid you had at your side when you signed that health”crammed”care thing you wanted, hows his mom doing, oops, too soon?..lets just start the impeachment trials, pleeze!!!

  • Tim

One congressman said it could take up to 3 month to get what Fearless Leader wants and Harry Reid said we need to concentrate on immigration laws more then gun control,my thoughts on all of this?…..IMPEACH THE BASTARD!!!!!!

    • mark

Never gonna happen. But Harry Reid (D-NV), the Senate Majority leader is a pro-gun Democrat. Very little of the proposed legislation will go through, probably just increased background checks and nothing else.. The Republicans control the House and the Democratic Senate Majority Leader is pro-gun as are many of his Democratic Senatorial colleagues.

Don’t worry all you gun enthusiasts, nothing much is going to change. We will still have mass shooting every month in the United States ad infinitum. These kind of mass shootings are as all-American now as apple pie, college football, the Fourth of July, and the invasions of other countries. The American people just accept them as a part of life. You just have to hope that your kid isn’t in the school or at the movie theatre or mall that day. It’s all the luck of the draw. But the slaughter will continue. No one can stop that. We would have to become a different kind of people for that to stop. And all you have to do is read this website to clearly see that we ain’t. Hate and violence is in our DNA, it’s what makes Americans tick. Along with some very good things as well.

      • eddie47d

Those who actively arm for violence are egging it on and hope it comes sooner than later.

  • M

What nobody in politics or the media is really doing is analyzing our gun crime as a sociological issue. Any politician who’s just blaming the gun itself (an inanimate object) really doesn’t care about public safety. They care about furthering their political career and controlling people. If the so-called leaders of this country really cared about lowering crime rates they would look at the issue comprehensibly by taking into consideration factors like regional Demographics, Economics (job availability?), Education level, and Mental Health, among others. When you look at the top 10 states that have the highest gun murder rates, 8 out of 10 have lower education and job opportunities. Also within the top 10 states you’ll see a complete mix of states that have permissive gun laws and the strictest gun laws. So obviously the gun laws themselves are doing little to stifle crime. It’s a much more complex issue than just removing guns from society, which is impossible because the black market will flourish.

    • eddie47d

Why are those black markets flourishing? Why are our laws so loose that anyone can find a weapon anywhere at any time? With gun dealers and private sellers proliferated throughout our land maybe that easy access is a bigger problem. There is plenty of crime with everything legal as it is so why make it easier for the criminal element to obtain their guns. Since 98% of those who fail background checks are not prosecuted or fined so I would say we need tougher laws and quit namby pambying around.

      • Dennis48e

” Since 98% of those who fail background checks are not prosecuted or fined so I would say we need tougher laws and quit namby pambying around.”

eddie that is about as stupid a comment as you have ever made here. If the feds and states cannot or will not prosecute the felons for attempting to purchase guns now it will do no good to pass new laws that will receive at best spotty enforcement. Besides which not all who fail to pass the background check are felons. You can fail the background check because you have an unpaid traffic ticket and certain other minor offences.

      • ranger09

I sure wish i could get stats on who is using the guns for Killing, blackmen, blackwomen, whitemen, whitewomen, mexicanmen or mexican women. And others. Eddie maybe you can furnish these stats.

      • manuel rosa

Edie, get a life if you can. Criminals will always have guns and no law will atop them.
Everyone knows the law says you cannot commit murder. have you watched the news lately? How the criminals obey the law so deligently?

      • Vicki

Since 99.6% of the American people DID NOT shoot anyone (even accidentally) we are TIRED of being treated like criminals.

STOP IT. STOP IT. STOP IT.

      • eddie47d

It’s your loose laws and easy access to weapons that are arming the criminals Vickie so why don’t you STOP IT! NOW!

How many executive orders, bypassing Congress, will it take before someone (legislator) has the backbone to aggressively push for impeachment of this lawbreaking, Constitution stomping pretend-a-president?

    • rvncibeib1sgret

The House of Representatives could possibly do the job of impeachment but just like Clinton, The Senate will not attempt to remove him from office so why bother?

    • eddie47d

If you don’t like the Executive Order precedence then stop it for all Presidents. Every Time some of you don’t get your way you demand some extreme instead of going to the heart of the matter. Such as; If you don’t like Obama going on vacation then reduce that time for all Presidents. When you pick on one official when they all do it then your sincere credibility is lacking.

      • ranger09

Just like you said, All the politicians do it, wonder why.

      • gentlejax

I have no problem with ceasing all these executive orders for all presidents.
if we continue on this path then it really will not matter. We will all do what the dictator says. Even you.

even if you remove the gun from the equasion you will still have killings and murderers.
you know that stuff happened before the gun was invented.

I say we split the country or states into gun and non gun areas.

I am sure it would be very interesting to see all the anti gun owners crying about being victims.

a gun is not the problem. Its people. Society.

all this racism just adds to it. You can tell certain people now have different attitudes about everything.

life has no value to some people and if they want something you have they will take it. Kiling you doesn’t matter.

        that means you too

      • ranger09

Gee, when did the politicians ever ask the people, when has the people ever made the rules for politicians. The politicians make the rules to better themselves, And to heck with the public they are suppose to answer to.

  • Larry

Impeach if The President attempts an executive order. He should not even be in that position.

united we stand…divided we fall…that is what obama is doing to this great country. he wishes to be a dictator

  • Ciak

After a school shooting in Britain a number of years ago strict gun control laws were enacted. Britain has VERY restrictive gun control laws. Less gun crime, yes. Less violent crime, not even close. Britain has 3.5 times as much violent crime as the U.S. Three and one half TIMES as much!

A gun is an equalizer. In the last couple of weeks a 68 year old organist walking to Church was beaten to death by two 20 year olds. Two magazine vendors were stabbed to death in central Manchester. The police came quickly, but of course the victims were dead. DEAD! Police “took notes and cleaned up”. Thanks a lot!

“Gentlejax” has the key to these mass shootings. Drugs approved by the FDA and prescribed by Doctors. The solutions are there so lets address the problem and act.
Sue the FDA, the drug companies and the prescribing Doctor in the relevant case.

“Robbiefine” you can stop your histerical rants now and go back and report to George.

“And that’s all I have to say.”

    • eddie47d

If two magazine vendors came to my door with a weapon strapped to their bodies I wouldn’t open the door to them so what is your point. How many 68 year old church ladies “carry” on their way into church. Heck there are muggings and murders in the US also but the gun bans would have nothing to do with concealed carry or self defense in this country. Did England go to far? possibly! Just like the US hasn’t gone far enough..

      • Ciak

        To eddie 47d

The organist was a man and the magazine vendors were unarmed and on the street in the
center of Manchester. No point to your remarks. My point was that there is NO (NO) legal way that a weaker person can defend themselves in Britain. Drunken louts beating grown fit men to death is not uncommon here. There is no legal EQUALIZER.

      • JUKEBOX

I am 73 and my wife is 65, and we both “carry” on our way to church, and I know many preachers who “carry”.

        • Joe

          Who T F cares what your preacher does…………carry………….B F D ………..Get a life.

      • Vicki

        eddie47d says:
“If two magazine vendors came to my door with a weapon strapped to their bodies I wouldn’t open the door to them so what is your point.”

I don’t open my door to ANY vendors. Did you actually have a point?

        - eddie47d: “Heck there are muggings and murders in the US also but the gun bans would have nothing to do with concealed carry or self defense in this country.”

Banning concealed carry IS a gun ban.

Banning the tools for the job DOES have A LOT to do with self defense in any country.

~300 MILLION Americans did NOT misuse guns today, this week, this month, last year, the year before…..

STOP TREATING US LIKE CHILDREN you want to PUNISH.

      • eddie47d

Who said anything about banning concealed carry weapons Vickie? Even if there is a gun ban on certain weapons I doubt very much if a CC would be a part of the equation. Is that another one of your bald assertions? Yes indeed you should STOP IT!

      • Vicki

eddie47d demonstrates the liberal debate technique of inserting words into the comments of others by writing:
“Who said anything about banning concealed carry weapons Vickie?”

Good question Eddie. I didn’t say “concealed carry weapon(s)”. You did.

Prima facie evidence in your own post thus not proof by bald assertion.

~300 MILLION Americans did NOT shoot anyone this week. STOP PUNISHING THE INNOCENT

        STOP IT
        STOP IT NOW

    • manuel rosa

God made 10 laws and in it society is made perfect.
The government made over 10,000 laws and what a mess they made of our society, and they continue to make more laws to mass it up some more but the laws of God have no place except the closet.

  • sidewinderaz

Eddie47 once again you show us all what a complete nimrod you really are. First look up the word “infringed”. It was put into the Second Amendment for a reason.
Restricting the magazine capacity of the firearm I choose is an infringement.
Restricting me from the type of firearm I might choose to own is an infringement.
Restricting me from carrying a firearm with me if I choose to do so when doing no one any harm and it is concealed from sight is an infringement.
Get the picture? They aren’t saving lives with their infringements. They’re putting us all at more risk.
Get your head out of your utopian fantasy world and get a bite of reality. It’s a dangerous world out there and stripping us of our right to protect ourselves from harm won’t make things better.
And the Second Amendment isn’t about hunting. That’s such a worn out phrase that “you can still hunt” that I want to puke on your shirt.
But really Eddie I still think you’re just a paid troll working for the progressive socialists.

    • Joe

Are you far in right or left field? No wonder the NRA & Gun Lobbyists are such a mess.

    • Texas Ride

      Sidewinder, you are absolutely correct!

Why would any government infringe on the ability of its citizens to protect themselves!
We have to ask that question…..(even if we all know the answer.)

Getting guns out of the hands of the people is the most important step for any marxist regime that desires total power and confiscation of all wealth.

It is time for Americans to demand a return to the Constitution, even if the cesspool must be purged. The States are already lining up on one side or the other…The girlie-man may get his wish to be more like the traitor, Lincoln, he admires so much.

      • Vicki

And remind them (they seem to love statistics) that ~300 MILLION of us never misused a firearm. We are more than tired of being punished for the actions of a few criminals.

    • eddie47d

Sidewinderaz; Seems like you made a grander point about hunting than I did. Your weapons of mass killings ARE infringing on my rights so enough of your lopsided spiel!

      • Dennis48e

And just how do they infringe on your rights eddie?

      • eddie47d

Back to that easy access of weapons which endangers more people.

  • FreedomFighter

Obviously the usual commi plant posters are on the board again, I could name them but we all know who they are, that said:

The gun grab was planned, the entire procdedure a staged event, its all theater. Those commies posting here are pro-abortion, then could care less about life esp children. We are faced with a take-over of America:

They only need take our weapons or reduce the effectivenss such weapons to a certain point, then its OVER, welcome to New America, we will be gutted for resources, enslaved by economics and GESTOPO police force, put in re-education camps/work camps, millions will die of starvation, genocide, and reduced medical or non-existent medical care and outright murder by our government.

Read the UN writings from our leaders, the Think Tanks, 90-95% reduction in population, that means you and 8 out of 10 others you know WILL DIE to make the Utopia they envision.

Your right it is a theater in preparation for a communist take over. but it seems it wont be easilly done for washington cause there are many of us that have been awaken to the cause, and if a civil war raptures the washington goons better get in the bunkers quickly cause thats the reason why many of us have large guns and the right to defend ourselves against the tyrant war lords now in place in washington.

      • manuel rosa

Now when the goons come to remove your guns, remember they are servants of a tirany.
there is only one choice, you either join them or else you have to stand against them.
if you have to stand against them, plant yourself and make sure you take at least a dozen goons with you before you go down, this way though they take you down, your are still the winner.

      • manuel rosa

in the early 70s I served in the military and i served with pride and honor because the USA then was something to be proud of. Ufortunatellly that honor has been turned to shame by others that I have no control.

No manuel it won’t be a communist takeover it will be a Fascist takeover. The difference being the fascist allow the appearance of ownership of private property and choice of employment etc. while they maintain just as much control over things as the communist do.

      • Vicki

Dennis48e. Correct. It is not about the name of the dictator, its about the amount of government control. 100% vs limited vs 0%.

By the time they arrived he had finally wandered off and they never did find him. I now live in the country and the response time for a deputy will likely be even longer. If it should happen again the person will be greated by a pistol pointing between his eyes and be made to lie face down on the poarch untill such time as the deputy can arrive.

  • http://gravatar.com/bychoosing WTS/JAY

    It’s a done deal.

Governor Cuomo, along with Democrat and Republican legislators, is ramming through a bill to restrict gun ownership, re-classify weapons in order to ban them—and, in a far-reaching move, create psychiatrists as cops who must report patients to law-enforcement, in order to keep the patients from owning a weapon.

Psychiatrists must report patients “who could potentially harm themselves or others.” If such a patient owns a gun, it will be confiscated.

This means a comprehensive data base, accessible by law-enforcement personnel and anyone else involved in doing background checks These “problematic” patients will be kept from buying a new weapon, too. Otherwise, the law would have no teeth.

As usual, the devil is in the details. Psychiatrists will err on the side of caution and report many patients. No shrink wants to blink into television cameras after one of his patients has just shot his father.

Patients who want to own weapons will lie to psychiatrists about their thoughts and feelings, never admitting they’re considering suicide or murder.

After such a murder, a psychiatrist will say: “He never said anything about killing anybody. Here, look at my notes. There’s nothing there.”

For this and other reasons, such as the existence of the data base, doctor-patient confidentiality will go out the window.

Therefore, the practice of psychiatry, which already minimizes talk therapy and merely dispenses drugs, will move even further in that direction. Tight-lipped patients, who don’t want to go on a police list, will seek an office visit with the sole motive of obtaining a drug.

Since all the emphasis is now on “mentally ill patients who are prone to violence,” the possibility of indicting the drugs in violence will recede over the horizon.

SSRI antidepressants (Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, etc.) and other brain drugs do, in fact, cause people to go crazy and commit violent crimes, including murder. This is an open secret in the psychiatric profession, and the public is becoming more aware of it every day.

But it will be swept under the carpet.

Under the new law, a psychiatrist can’t be prosecuted for failing to report a patient who later commits murder, as long as the psychiatrist “acted in good faith.” The meaning of that phrase is broad enough to automatically cast blanket exoneration on most shrinks, which closes off the chance a psychiatrist will be pilloried for prescribing a drug he knows can induce violence in the patient.

This New York law will be copied and passed by other states, and in the end, we will see a national data base of psychiatric patients.

The official attitude will be: anyone who sees a psychiatrist is a potential killer.

This will give rise to protests on behalf of “a new underclass”: psychiatric patients. Advocates will arise to take up their cause. Court cases will abound. The whole business will devolve into a complete mess.

But out of it will come a hands-on partnership between cops and shrinks, who’ll march should to shoulder into their version of a psychiatric police state.

Seventy-two hour mandatory holds in psych wards for “observation” will expand. During this period of incarceration, shrinks will dose inmates hard with drugs, in order to make them more docile, because no psych ward wants to be accused of releasing a patient who then goes on to kill people.

Drugs to subdue the mind in that way are very powerful. They are called anti-psychotics, or major tranquilizers. As has been shown, they induce tremors, which are signals of motor brain damage.

We can expect to see hundreds of thousands more people, perhaps millions, who are damaged, permanently, by these drugs.

The motto will become: destroy the patient, before he can destroy others.

As the crown on all this, people who have ever professed political ideas outside the mainstream, and so end up in a database of “potential threats to the State,” can be kept from owning a weapon, merely by finding a way to get them into a psychiatrist’s office, on any pretext. Once there, the psychiatrist can report them as prone to harming themselves or others, and that will function as a bar to possessing a gun.

New York has just created a door that swings in both directions. A huge number of people who are seeing psychiatrists can be kept from gun ownership. And people who can see with their eyes what this country has turned into can be turned, on cooked-up technicalities, into psychiatric patients. Once in the system, they, too, can be denied all 2nd Amendment rights.

It will undoubtedly be called “The 2nd Amendment Exclusion.” Coming to your neighbourhood.

Russian government used this to lock up anyone that said anything againts the government or disliked anything, if was “considered a mental illness to critize government” or if you didnt like starving in the cold and complained “radical views of society, very dangerous” you were killled or sent to a camp.

Freedom, did you hear that girlie-man spent four years in Russia, getting schooled on how to take down a country…and control it.

It is no wonder that he told the Russian that, “I will have more latitude after I am re-elected.”

Can we expect mind-bending drugs in our water? Decades ago there was a movie with a story like that… Big Pharma would be glad to mix up a batch for a huge government check. There isn’t anything these people won’t do…

They call it gun control, I call it citizen control, all the actions of the scared political factor
is to relieve the guns from the people one step at a time. WE as a standing militia need our guns to maintain our freedoms as stated by the Constitution, not as the political interpretation of the Constitution!!!

Bad people dont really need guns to destroy other people…they use bombs,Knife..all diferen skill to destroy other people, timothy mcbey kill many people and he dint used guns he make a big bomb and take down the building..and the terrorist ,they allway have a guns dont matter how the goverment want to take it from the people; is our right to have a gun ,to defend our self ..our family…i thing school shut be protect with a gard with a gun to save our kids the same way Obama have guard his two girls at school.. And our government will provide them.

Andrew Cuomo’s loud rant about gun control legislation cerainly proved the old advertising adage that the more ignorant the audience you want to reach, the louder your commercial should be. After watching Obama’s photo op about gun control this morning, I wonder when he is going to order the prosecution of Eric Holder for not doing a criminal background check on those thousands of assault weapons he allowed to go to Mexico.

    • Dennis48e

It is much worse than not doing background checks. The dealers did the background checks and were either told to proceed with the sale by the FBI when the dealer should have been told to stop the transaction or ordered to let the transaction go through by BATF because they were “tracking the guns as part of a criminal investigation”.

    • eddie47d

You can’t take it———-as a white man who served My Country in Vietnam-you are nothing but a insecure coward……….were you in My Lai in March, 1968? You were breast feeding from your mamma…………you gun crazed nuts are pathetic.

Go serve your country & grow a pair of ballzs. Oh, my gun will protect me———–pitiful excuse for a man.

      • Operation Mindcrime

well then you should be embarressed for what you government forces our millitary to do under the USA flag.
you sit here and talk about the normal citizens owning guns and all that but what does that have to do with the attrocities of war?

This very government you support is a bunch of murderes. They have blood on their hands and yet you say nothing and sit there and condescend regular gun owners who just want to keep their families safe.

Are you a sock puppet Joe?

        • Joe

So keep your family safe-so be it. There is no need for high capacity magazines holding rounds in excess of 10. Why is there a need for assault style guns/rifles? Are semi-automatics that shoot 6-10 rounds a second needed? They are not. Keep your gun to protect yourself. Be safe.

      • Dennis48e

After reading his many posts here I have come to the conclusion that Joe is a convicted felon forbiden to own or even handle firearms who is a member of a white supremeist group. He is likely around 25 years old with a dishonerable discharge from the military. That is the best explanation I can see for the vitrol he constantly spews.

      • Vicki

        Joe says:

Well, Joe your name calling and spewing racial hate wont protect you either. You are misrepresenting the My lai massacre to further your agenda. The Tet Offensive was a military campaign during the Vietnam War that was launched on January 30, 1968 by forces of the Viet Cong and North Vietnam against South Vietnam, the United States, and their allies. It was a campaign of surprise attacks that were launched against military and civilian command and control centers throughout South Vietnam, during a period when no attacks were supposed to take place. When those three things have been accomplished any third world nation or terrorist organization can have the USA for the taking. What is more amazing is that the likes of Schumer, Feinstein, Bloomberg, Biden, Pelosi, Reid and numerous other liberals have been duped to the extent that they support Obama and his agenda without they themselves stopping to think what they are buying into.

    • Operation Mindcrime

I dont have a problem banning a AR-15 …I dont have one..dont need one…so why not ban just that or similar instead of trying to ban just about everything but a slingshot?

    • Dennis48e

Bob go away and take a few courses about firearms, their history, and development. Then when you can intellegently talk about them you can come back and makr comments here. There is no such gun as an AK-15.

Why would any one have such a vehicle? You can’t drive that fast on any of our freeways or highways in this country. Maybe we ought to ban these.

I used your argument only using fast cars. Doesn’t make sense here either.

Vicki and FF, that reminds me of a time when PLD was going through some growing pains and their system wouldn’t recognize those that had been posting for quite some time. My email address ended up showing as my posting name. I had some exchanges with another commenter and next thing I know I recieve a threatening email from the guy. He knows how to find me and he and his sons will show up when I least expect it. He had mentioned where he was from in one of his earlier comments. Needless to say, his email address was attached to the threatening email I recieved(imagine how smart this guy was).

I did a search, found his name and address in a simple white pages search, and sent him a couple of emails pointing out his name and address and that I was forwarding his proposed physical threats of violence against me to the authorities and would press charges against him. I also made it clear that I was more than able and capable of thwarting any threat he and his sons wanted to bring and was willing to give him my address and phone number so he could notify me when to expect him.

Funny though, neber heard from him again and never saw another posting by him at PLD. Imagine he was just another coward.

  • Susan

I don’t like what the white half of Obama does either!

  • Susan

I don’t understand even talking to anyone that wants to do away with the constitution. Most of the proposed gun law changes that Obama wants won’t make a damn bit of difference. Owning an AR is no different than someone owning anything that others don’t understand. I don’t know why anyone NEEDS a motorcycle that goes 180 mph except to outrun the cops, but that is my opinion. I don’t understand why a single person without kids NEEDS a suburban to drive, but….. As for an AR, if I want to own one, the constitution says “shall not be infringed” so if someone has a problem if I want to own one, that is their opinion and opinion is all it is. I don’t drink and never have. I don’t smoke. I have never even had a speeding ticket, and i am over 50, but some people think they have the right to tell me what I need. I may not NEED one, but the constitution says that I can own one. Columbine and VA Tech shooter didn’t use an assault rifle OR high capacity mags. Columbine used 2 shotguns, a handgun, and a rifle. They used 10 round mags because of the current BAN. The VA shooter used 2 handguns, one which was just a 22. Only 2% of crime is committed with an AR, which in fact a wanna-be assault rifle. So……….what’s the point. I do agree with anything that keeps psychos on drugs from getting guns, but don’t know how that is going to get done. Criminals aren’t going to obey any laws anyway and they don’t acquire guns legally anyway. Let’s outlaw drugs and drunk drivers which both kill more people than guns!

    • mark

OK Susan, but they were outlawed for 10 years from 1994-2004 under Presidents Clinton and Bush. And the UN didn’t take over America, the government didn’t sieze any of the other 250 million guns, tens of millions of gun owners were not killed in a federal-ordered genocide,50 million were not put in camps. The country just went on as usual armed to the teeth but just not with those particular types of weapons. It didn’t lead to the end of America. It was just a ban on one our of 500 types of firearms. Global civilization and the world did not come to end. And no one called for the impeachment of either of those two WHITE presidents. Gee, I wonder why? Oh and P.S. drugs and drunk driving are against the law.

      • daleh

Waht you wroteis all true–however you left out one thing in your post—the people that are running things now in this country have changed and many at the UN have also—that does make a difference—the UN should not have any say whatsoever in US Business , hell we support most of that operation –financilly –

      • Dennis48e

” but they were outlawed for 10 years from 1994-2004 ”

NO they were not. The manufacture and importation of new ones were banned but all that were already in stores or warehouses were allowed with no restrictions. there was also no significant change in crime rates during those ten years if I remember correctly but after the ban on new ones was lifted and they started being sold again the crime rates started down.

People had better get acquainted with the “Psychopaths” that are running our nation!

Webster Tarpley: The Elite’s Plan for Global Extermination (FL-HD)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T3Eo2YTQUr8 (WARNING-VERY DISTURBING)

    • Right Brain Thinker

Speaking of “internet trolls”, WTS/JAY has now posted this same comment on three of today’s threads and I am responding to it for the third time by posting my earlier comments from those threads. Here they are:

      Right Brain Thinker says:
      January 16, 2013 at 4:42 pm

This is a reply I made to JAY on another of today’s threads where JAY posted the exact same comment. It is appropriate to post it here again with just a few added comments in CAPS and (parens) inserted. I said,

“WTS/JAY is apparently looking in on even the “obscure” threads on PLD today, like this one which has only 18 responses as I write. I’ll have to surf the others and see if he is spouting inflammatory horsepucky on them also.
      (HE IS—-THE EXACT SAME HORSEPUCKY)

JAYS latest game seems to be going back to the days of the old Wake The Sleepers (JAY) and posting crazy stuff—-just like yelling “Fire” in a crowded movie theater. I thought he had outgrown that.

Some of you may have noticed the exchange he and I had on the “Gun Grab” thread. I’m sorry to say that JAY is at it again on this thread (AS WELL AS THE WELFARE SPENDING THREAD), posting a link with an inflammatory title as some sort of evidence that we should believe his insane statement that “Psychopaths are running our nation”. Lord love a duck, JAY! Will you ever stop trying to mislead folks and stir them up over nothing? Is it that much fun to do so?

I went to the link—-”Webster Tarpley: The Elite’s Plan for Global Extermination” and discovered it’s nearly an hour long. This is one of JAY’s propaganda tricks too. Spend just a few minutes looking for something with an inflammatory title (JAY doesn’t actually have to watch it, just give the link), make an unfounded assertion about “psychopaths” and give the link, knowing that nobody is going to spend an hour watching it. Even if they do watch it, very few are likely to take notes, analyze it, and compose a reply. So JAY “pollutes your subconscious” with very little effort, and you would have to spend 1-1/2 to 2 hours to “come back”. I will waste 10 minutes for you.

I DID view the link and analyze it’s contents. But only to a point—–it took only a few minutes to strongly suspect that Webster Tarpley is a wing nut. So I skipped ahead and looked at several short segments. In each and every one of those small samplings, Tarpley said things that proved that he is indeed a wing-nut, making many outrageous statements. I should say that this video clip consists of Tarpley “reviewing” the writings of John P. Holdren, the current White House science advisor, by flipping through a book and making comments on what Holdren said, and most of his comments would result in him being laughed out of the room in any gathering of serious scientists. For instance, Tarpley seems to think that it is “no problem” if the population of the earth rises to 45 billion in the immediate future—that’s 6-1/2 times the present population of 7 billion and I would love to know the name of ANY scientist who agrees with him.

Actually, what Tarpley did was ATTACK Holdren—-anyone who would make up so much horsepucky to attack someone must really have some sort of grudge—-maybe Holdren ran over his dog?. Or did Holdren run over JAY’s dog, and is JAY just using Tarpley to try to get even?

In closing, everyone should ask themselves why JAY would post something that is mainly an attack on the president’s SCIENCE advisor on a thread that is concerned with welfare expenditures. Can JAY answer that? Will he? Jay? (AND I WILL ASK THE SAME AGAIN HERE—-THIS IS A THREAD ABOUT TAXES, JAY—-WHY POST THIS COMMENT HERE?)

      Right Brain Thinker says:
      January 16, 2013 at 4:48 pm

PS I forgot to mention that the two comments are not exactly the same. JAY has appended (WARNING-VERY DISTURBING) to this second posting.

I agree with him. It is VERY DISTURBING that JAY is playing some kind of game with us and abusing our trust. Very “controlling”, JAY, when you try to propagandize folks rather than help them seek real truth.

This is why conservatives may never win the White House again in our life times unless they change significantly. Because all they’ve got is on display right here: hate, mindless, spewing, relentless never-ending hate and paranoia. They are the party of hate, fear, and ugliness. That’s all they have going for them. And with that horrid concoction, they just can’t win, they are reduced to irrelevence. Redneck thugs swearing at the television set in a bar.

I haven’t read one comment by eddie teddy 47 ways to be a commie from Colorado where the immoral have taken over, have 8 elected officals who are homosexual and hate anything people with morals are about, so I can see why he lives here, a small commie state waiting for America to become a commie nation. He distorts and lie’s in every comment and needs to go back to Cuba or Mexico where he came from.

    • mark

A typical, insulting and pointless ad hominem attack, Benjamin. Did you ever consider engaging with Eddie’s ideas? Trying to intelligently discuss, refute or challenge them through logic, reason, and civil argument? The level of debate on this site is very disheartening. We’ll just insult everyone as viciously as possible who disagrees with us.

      • Vicki

Have you considered following your own sage advice?

JeffH, thanks man and wow is that true. I’m a older guy and could take anyone of the idiots in the video within a minute and wouldn’t even work up a sweat, God Bless Bud:

I don’t see Texas on the list above but the legislature is working on a bill similar to Wyoming’s bill. It includes arrest for any federal person who comes to Texas pushing the gun control with a $50,000 fine and up to 5 years in jail.

  • Russ Craig

I’m with the NRA, what the say is True. Don’t mess with our guns.

    • mark

The NRA is mostly just a shill for the gun industry and they are making their patrons who pay them well an absolute fortune right now. I give the NRA credit for that. Like the other big power and special interests lobbies in Washington D.C., the NRA is a lucratively-paid prostitute that always gets the job done for her clients. Sadly, this is governance in our nation today.

Video: Oath Keeper Officer Calls on Brother Cops to Refuse to Enforce Gun Bans or Registration
In this video, Oathkeeper151, a New Jersey Police Officer who has been a member of Oath Keepers since 2009, makes it clear that he will not obey orders that violate the Bill of Rights. In particular, he says he will not be used as a tool of oppression against the American people who resist and refuse to comply with infringement on their right to bear arms, such as legislation or executive orders that decree they must register, get finger printed and photographed, like a criminal.

He asks his fellow officers what they are going to do if that happens. Will they keep their oaths? Here is his own description of his video:

In this video I ask my fellow Police Officers what they would do, if they were given an unlawful order. I also touch on the Assault Weapons Ban introduced by Senator Feinstein, and how this bill has the potential of putting us Police Officers in a very bad/even fatal predicament.

I spoke to him on the phone and he made it clear that he is not afraid to take this public stand because this is what needs to happen. He says the peace officers across America need to stand up and let the people know that they are on the side of the Bill of Rights, and that they will protect the rights of the people. In one of the comments on his video, another officer had this to say:

I’ll lay my badge down, stop doing what I love if someone tries to make me do something immoral or unconstitutional.

If there were door to door raids for guns against Americans who refused to comply with registration or bans, he would either defend the people with his badge on, stepping between them and the oath breakers doing the raids, or he would lay his badge down on the table and then go join the people in resisting. He loves his work as a police officer, but his oath, and his responsibility to protect the people of his community, is more important than his job. His oath comes first. The rights of the people come first…. and he is not alone.

They have no problem bashing in minority kids’ brains, though. Take a look at the Rodney King video. What a heroic group of officers deployed for that atrocity. While, such men do not represent the majority of officers, Thank God, the brutality and civil rights violation records of many police departments is appalling. I wouldn’t count too much on policemen to protect our freedoms, JeffH. This is one of the few times I come down more on the side of Bob Livingston. The police if anything exercise too much power in our society today despite all the good they undoubtedly do on a daily basis and the deterrent effect that they have on so much potential and real crime.

      • http://midcontent ridge runner

Were youn there when the dropped the concrete block on the defensles truck driver, or the minority thugs byrning and destrying other peoples property? • Dennis48e

“They have no problem bashing in minority kids’ brains, though. Take a look at the Rodney King video. ”

Rodney King was hardly a kid. If you watch the FULL video you will see that while the police did perhaps over react Rodny King was hardly an innocent victom.

      • JeffH

mark, you obviously didn’t read the story, watch the video or even know much about the Oath Keeper’s organization.

Oath Keepers is a non-partisan association of current and formerly serving military, reserves, National Guard, veterans, Peace Officers, and Fire Fighters who will fulfill the Oath we swore, with the support of like minded citizens who take an Oath to stand with us, to support and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, so help us God. Our Oath is to the Constitution

Our motto is “Not on our watch!”

      • mark

ridge runner, try working on the reading and writing. There are a lot of adult education classes available to the public nowadays. There is nothing to be ashamed about adult illiteracy. You can improve and learn how to express yourself in a more coherant manner in the future.

As to your comment, we hold taxpayer-funded and taxpayer-trained policemen who have sworn an oath to uphold the law to a higher standard of behavior than the street thugs who you are correct savagely, illegally, and immorally beat that LA truckdriver. Two of them were charged and served prison time. The others could not be identified and/or tracked down.

      • eddie47d

        I thought you said you weren’t a veteran Jeff H ?

      • JeffH

mark, you chastised Benjamin Fox for ad hominems and then…”Oh My”, you hypocrit!

      • Right Brain Thinker

JeffH accuses mark of doing one of “them there ad hominem thingies” even though he and DaveH and others have demonstrated MANY times to us that they don’t understand the meaning of the term. He calls mark a “hypocrite”? LOL

Sorry, Jeff—–mark is just pointing out some truth about ridge’s need to get better educated, and I concur with his recommendations. mark is trying to HELP ridge move up in the world and should be commended, not condemned, for his efforts.

There’s a thing called “tough love’, Jeff, and what that means is that you must sometimes tell unpleasant but quite obvious truths to people to help them. I hope ridge accepts the help—he will be a better PLD participant if he does.

Actually, Jeff, YOU are one of the prime “ad hominem slingers” on PLD, as I am sure you will prove by coming back with one of those patented comments, as in—–”See, folks, Lizard Brain the liberal-progressive shill wants to tell you how to think and has thrown some of “them there ad hominem thingies” at me and ridge. See? See? See what he did?”"

Or am I getting you confused with your alternate personality DaveH? I get so confused trying to tell you two apart—-you sound SO much alike in your mindlessness (and I can make a better case for that NOT being one of “them there ad hominem thingies” than you can make that it IS).

      • JeffH

Half Wit Thinker, what a waste you are. That’s all you’ve got?
Go ahead, waste some more space, maybe 2-4 more paragraphs will do. Get it off your chest.

OH, FYI I don’t waste my time reading your brainless gibberish.

        Sayonara Half Wit Thinker,

        from the boogeyman. :)

      • JeffH

Uh dummy, that’s right, I am not nor have I ever claimed to be a veteran.

What’s your point? I know, I know, you couldn’t comprehend what a “like minded citizen” is. DUH!

      • Right Brain Thinker

Thank you, JeffH, for doing exactly as I predicted you would. It adds weight to one’s arguments when the “targets” do things that prove the arguments to be correct. I said “YOU are one of the prime “ad hominem slingers” on PLD, as I am sure you will prove by coming back with one of those patented comments…..” and you obliged me by doing exactly that. LOL

Your “response”—-and I put quotation marks around the word because what you said is not a “response” but more like what an angry 8-year-old would say when he was frustrated—was a classic:

“Half Wit Thinker, what a waste you are. That’s all you’ve got?
Go ahead, waste some more space, maybe 2-4 more paragraphs will do. Get it off your chest. OH, FYI I don’t waste my time reading your brainless gibberish. Sayonara Half Wit Thinker, from the boogeyman. :)”

You say you “don’t waste time reading my gibberish”? O.K. Then how did you know to even reply to it? And how long my comments usually are? Oh, I get it, you don’t read them but you just look for my handle. and automatically fire off a string of mindless rubbish whenever you see my name? Even though I might not be talking to you? That’s showing us some really impressive “skills”, Jeff—-as I said, about what an angry and frustrated 8-year-old would do (A dumb one—a smart one would do much better).

And I would REALLY like to know why you put that smiiley face on the end. Does it mean that you are only trying to sound like a complete fool because it’s your job? You are really embarrassed by the crap you are forced to pick off the “list of things for trolls and shills to say” and are trying to “wink” at us to show you’re embarrassed? What?

(And you got one thing almost right—-”2 to 4 paragraphs” (and short ones), was enough to beat your brains in on this one—-some folks that have “got” a bit more substance than you often require a couple of pages of remarks to achieve the same result).

      • JeffH

Half Wit Thinker, thanks for more of your ignorant gibberish which I also didn’t read.

        Ta da for today.

      • Right Brain Thinker

Hey genius, how do you know it’s “ignorant gibberish” if you didn’t read it? LOL

      • eddie47d

Because you claimed to be a member of Oath Keepers above Mr Jeff H and you are not a veteran or a member of the police or those types of organizations. You are falsely using an organization to bolster your credentials. Hmmmm!

      • JeffH

Dummy, that’s just what I expected you to say you dumb arse!
I am a “Like minded citizen”…now figure it out on your own.

      • JeffH

Half Wit Thinker, I thought you considered yourself smarter than the rest of us so I’d like you to figure it out on your own…that is if your really smart at all. Even a caveman could do it.

While I’m in favor of a multi party government, as provided for in our constitution,
That Democratic party should either have to either rein things in or disband. And
it’s not just Obama. Although there a few Democratic lawmakers out there with
some common horsesense, the majority haven’t shown any indication of any.
It seems to me as if the Democratic party is slowly evolving into the Autocratic
party. And it’s essential that this be intercepted and corrected soon for the good
of the freedom and liberty that our founding fathers origionally intended.

    • robbiefine@hotmail.com

The Democratic party should disband??? Why in heaven’s name would they ever do that? Just on your say so? The Dems are doing so well in recent elections and it looks like that will continue into the future. Disband? Not very likely.

    • http://midcontent ridge runner

Since the formation of the democrat party, they beleive people are too dumb to take care of themselves, provide for themselves, and worthless rules and laws , are to be blown off if you are a mamber in good standing with good socialist mind set and no values, but more government sprnding If inany office they can get away with out paying their taxes, making millions off of insider trading, having the morals of an alley rat. Trouble is the ddem party really exposed its beleif of lying everytime they open their pie holes, claim to be for the middle class when their taxes hit the little people get slammed the worst every tim. Every other democrat offical has tried to cover their lies, the muslim educated marxist that was chosen by the others in the socialist democrat party, sure wasn’t such a inflated peice of waste. He doesn’t like the USA, loves Karl Marx and any other abhorant dictator, Hillary favors the same out come but a close girl friend could have slowed her down, Plus Hillary doesn’t have a deep seated love for muslims and their beleifs.

      • Dave67

I am sure you and all the other deep thinkers here know that before the 1960′s, the Democratic party was the party of conservatives.

Of course you knew that right?

  • Dave67

I can understand why many here oppose what Obama wants to do on guns… The whole “mental evaluation” thing would prevent many who post here from buying a gun and that gets them all fired up.

    • JeffH

Well look who the cat drug in.

Ron White had it right…”you can’t fix stupid”.
Forrest’s mom, Mrs. Gump, also had it right when she said(talking about liberals and progressives) “Stupid is as stupid does”.

      • Dave67

Thats why they created conservatives… so they can all have a little club they can belong too. They just are not that bright.

Did you go to Walmart today?

      • JeffH

Gee D67, you seem to know everything so you tell me. Did I go or not?

I’ll be anxiously waiting for your answer… :)

      • Dave67

I don;t know everything JeffH. For instance, I have no idea how long you have hated this country and our society.

        • JeffH

That’s about as stupid a thing you could say…eddie stupid as a matter of fact.

But you’re right about a one thing…you really don’t know squat!

      • eddie47d

Hey dumbbutt Jeff H keep my name out of it when you have a personal squabble with someone else. Your nothing but a big jerk!

      • JeffH

eddie, you’re ignorance and stupidity has become the measuring stick used to gauge just how low a progressives/liberal can get here. The shoe fits!

    • http://midcontent ridge runner

Dream on the wanna be dictator doesn’t want any armed citizens, only gang bangers and the pervert worshipping rug shaggers. Now are you commenting about your “good buddies”) how love socialism/communism and favor the marxist methods?

      • Dave67

You are obviously a fascist conservative deep thinker… Did you hurt yourself with that nonsense?

    • Vicki

I wonder what the liberals will say when they start requiring “mental evaluations” before people can vote or even write. The pen is mightier than the sword so it won’t be long after the guns are gone that they will come for all the pens.

      • Vicki

Oh. Right. They won’t be able to SAY anything.

      • Dave67

Where is the taking of your guns? Where is the Hitler-like rampage?

  • angelwannabe

Well the Left has done exactly what they’ve set out to do, “to Never let a Crisis go to waste”. While we’re busy here defending our 2nd Amendment Rights, I find myself ever amazed at the lefts attempts to paint us stupid, thinking that further gun controls are going to stop what seems to me, to be a mainly cultural problem, it starts in the home. If no ones home that cares for these kids, then we have young people who feel and care about NOTHING!. __While no one purposely down plays these massacres, the left sure does take full advantage of pushing they’re gun control agenda, each and every time there is one, its lame.
If you want to help slow these senseless killings then WE each as individuals have to become the first responders, not the police!!! ( I say slow them, because you’ll never stop them completely). Lets first off, stop being targets, and take down the damned “Gun Free Zone” signs! For God’s Sake, If I was someone who is H*ll bent on slaughtering people, the first place I’d go is to a place where I knew no one else had a gun, with these signs you idiots are telling these killers “Its safe you can shoot here” __Such idiots!!!__and The Schools?; Let’s give the teachers the option of Concealed Carry, (I know now some states are doing this) our kids are out of school, but schools demand more and more of tax dollars anyway, so do some good with the money and offer up gun handling courses, background checks. mental evals, and certification ( Oh btw, I can hear the left now, “But, but, but, what if a nut job happens to be a teacher?, answer, If you don’t home school your kids, they are there more than they’re home, how much is your child’s life worth, what the risk your willing to take?___ Life is full of risks, and without a “Good Guy” with a gun at Sandy Hook_ those unarmed teachers and kids never had a chance!”_ and take down the Gun Free Zone Signs at the Schools, you setting them up as targets!!!___If your not going to allowed Concealed Carry, then 4-5 people, that have been backgrd checked, trained & certified in gun handling should be on each public premise. ….Let get with the program folks, we live in a very different world, paranoia isn’t going to cut it, being prepared for anything is…. as far as the rich and famous go, Why does the President, Hollywood’s most famous, Banks, Armored Vehicles all have high powered rifles and armed guards, and they want to limit us?___answer, if they carry, we carry, __Equal Opportunity Mr President, Equal Opportunity!

    • eddie47d

GUN FREE ZONES mean that the students can’t bring any type of weapon into the schools. It doesn’t mean that school officials can’t be armed. You Conservatives always fail to make that distinction. Some schools like Columbine did have 2 security guards yet were still a GUN FREE ZONE for students.

    • Dave67

“A good guy with a gun?” HA! most people are not properly trained in the guns they do have. Columbine had armed security on campus. Did not stop the massacre.

Get a grip… This is the start of commoon sense measures to reduce the occurences of gun murder.

The stats show a more armed society translates in to more gun murder in this country because more morons in this country are too quick to pick up a gun to settle a dispute or to get even. Check out the gun murder rates between MA and AZ for instance. In AZ, there is lax gun laws, laws that allow concelaed weaponry… so an armed society is a polite one right?

WRONG! AZ has more gun murders among US Citzens than MA and MA has more people. AZ have 100 more murders than MA.

Stop buying the NRA BS propaganda.

  • Bimbam

There are three reasons you should not support this new laws that will be put out by BO as an EO (Executive Odor).

One. You are supporting tyranny and that makes you an accomplice.
Two. You are supporting an illegal act and that makes you a criminal.
Three. You are showing you will kowtow to all of the above, showing your are a coward. All cowards get shot eventually by their handlers.

    You have been WARNED!

    • Dave67

      Thats exactly it.

Lets do nothing everyone! Lets let the NRA care more about keeping Wayne LaPierre in is lavish lifestyle rather than have any meaningful action on why America more than any other industrialized country, is prone to gun murder.

      Brilliant…

      • Patriot

The US is actually #28 on the gun violence by country list.
And trails significantly behind the UK (where guns are illegal) for violent crime. (shakes head)

  • angelwannabe

…Dave67, BTW stats, totals, polls mean nothing to me, all can be manipulated depending upon where you get the info….secondly, I was raised in a military family, on a farm and among a family of hunters, they think differently than those who don’t like guns.

Lets face facts, you either believe in gun rights or you don’t, no A B OR C!!!

I knew how to handle a gun at 9. A 30.06 to be exact….. Now as for Guns today, few are left at home to teach the kids ANYTHING, let alone how to handle a gun! With less hunting there are those who feel, the less its need to know or teach about guns and their safety. The Second amendment was’nt put in place fir hunting purposes, it was put in place for one reason and one reason only, to protect ourselves from a tyrannical government and/or those who would do us harm, NOTHING ELSE….. You may now demonize away!!!

The farther each generation gets away from the Civil War the Revolution and the less the REAL gun history is taught at home or in schools, the more it becomes fairly tale, that’s what we’re seeing in the likes of you and everyone else opposing the hows and why of gun rights today.., , …. If you think by limiting or abolishing gun rights after every massacre, think about what your saying, the gun laws didn’t stop it AGAIN, did it___

They tried a Gun ban in 94, I believe JOE BIDEN wrote it!!!!__it ended TEN YEARS LATER on a sunset clause because , IT MADE NO DIFFERENCE IN THE AMOUNT OF MURDERS!!!__FRIEND, THE CRIMINALS DON’T CARE ABOUT THE LAWS, YOUR DAMNED LAWS ARE HURTING LAW ABIDING CITIZENS!!__ The LAW, never worked for Booze in Prohibition Era and it won’t work with guns either, just like booze, you’ll drive it all under ground…….as for the NRA, I’ll believe whatever I choose too, I believe in the NRA and our right to protect ourselves, family and property__ and BTW do you who and why the NRA was started?___http://www.nrahq.org/history.asp

WOW—-just came on this thread to see if WTS/JAY was doing his ‘evil” business here (he is) and am stunned at the level of “crazy talk” I see here today. Lots of folks that I have had discussions with in the past—where we may not have agreed, but did keep it reasonably civil (and we all know what that means on PLD—LOL)—-are over the top with their rhetoric today. Glad I didn’t get involved. Is it because of O’Bama’s announcement today?—-did that “overstimulate” some folks?

One note to VICKI—-I didn’t count the number of times you used the “300 million Americans did-didn’t-can’t-won’t-shouldn’t-aren’t” line but it was A LOT and I thought to myself, “Lord love a duck, Vicki”. It is getting REALLY overused, and there are more than 300 million of us anyway. FYI—–just looked it up on the census clock:

“According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the resident population of the United States, projected to 01/17/13 at 04:10 UTC (EST+5) is 315,173,450″.

And that doesn’t count all those illegal aliens. Or are you saying that 15 million of us have done something awful today (perhaps with guns) and deserve some of that blame that the “300 million” don’t? And since so many of the 300 or 315 million are little kids and old folks who aren’t doing much of anything, aren’t either of those numbers kind of “imprecise’?

    • Vicki

      RBT writes:
      “It is getting REALLY overused”

As compared to what? “We need to have common sense gun control”? Or you could insert any of a dozen common progressive sound bytes.
      - RBT: “and there are more than 300 million of us anyway. FYI—–just looked it up on the census clock:” snip “315,173,450″

FYI there is a little tiny symbol in front of the 3 in all (or most of) my posts for a reason. The symbol looks like this “~”. I used it because I suspected that liberals, apparently having little actual schooling from the public “education” system, wouldn’t know that it is commonplace to say big numbers and just round them rather than giving the number to the last decimal. Especially with something like a population count where you don’t have prison tracking bracelets on every one.

      - RBT: “And that doesn’t count all those illegal aliens.”

I counted what I could provide a valid cite for.

      - RBT: “Or are you saying that 15 million of us have done something awful today (perhaps with guns) and deserve some of that blame that the “300 million” don’t?”

Are you saying that 173,450 of us have done something awful today (Perhaps with guns)? and deserve some of that blame that the 15 million don’t?

      - RBT: “And since so many of the 300 or 315 million are little kids and old folks who aren’t doing much of anything, aren’t either of those numbers kind of “imprecise’?

Not even if I had spelled out exactly the census number. ALL of them have the RIGHT to KEEP and BEAR ARMS too. If they are guilty put them in jail.

IF THEY ARE INNOCENT STOP PUNISHING THEM.

      STOP IT
      STOP IT NOW

      • Right Brain Thinker

Vicki, you are once again failing to see the forest for the trees. Or are you doing that deliberately because you know that this little meander off the “path of truth and rationality” will be sucked up by the mindless readers here and distract them from the truth, and will also be rewarded by whoever it is that pays you to shill for them?

Vicki says, “Overused? As compared to what? “We need to have common sense gun control”? Yes, Vicki, you have picked a good example of something that is said often, and for good reason. “Common sense gun control” is something that the vast majority of Americans want to see, and a majority of gun owners (even NRA members) want it as well. It’s just common sense to be in favor of common sense, wouldn’t you agree?.

You would look a lot less like a shill for the NRA (or some other special interests that want to distract people by pushing “gun control wars”), if you did in fact stop plucking “300 million” off your shill checklist of “Things to Endlessly Repeat”, and tried instead for a little variety in your comments—-it would make you more “believable” to those of us who understand what real “arguments” and “debates” are. You know, “points and counterpoints”?

You need to work on your ~sense of humor, too. And also your ~sense of irony and the concepts of ~sublety and ~mild sarcasm, as well as the meaning of “~metaphor” and “~figurative”. I say that because your little string of “he said, she said” ~comments shows some “fails” in ~understanding. Unless, of course, you are just doing the patented DaveH “smokescreen” thing to distract everyone, in which case I apologize—-you would then be merely earning your paycheck and I admire people who “work” for a living.

In good propagandist fashion, Vicki closes with some SHOUTING. She has been doing some metaphorical chest beating, podium pounding, and strutting all along here, just as she does in so many of her comments. (Why am I reminded of the movies of some of Adolf’s speeches?)

Vicki screams at us, “ALL of them have the RIGHT to KEEP and BEAR ARMS too. If they are guilty put them in jail. IF THEY ARE INNOCENT STOP PUNISHING THEM. STOP IT STOP IT NOW” To which I say “BRAVO”!

In case you’re not following Vicki’s “logic”, folks, she has just advocated that “kids and old folks” (i.e. toddlers and oldsters in nursing homes) should be armed. Let’s start some new charities/advocacy groups to help Vicki achieve that goal—-“AR-15’s For Grannies” and “Derringers for Droolers”—-because everyone should have a gun handy in case a bad guy needs to be stopped, right?. An added benefit is that we will then have a new set of statistics to argue about—-Accidental Shootings of Mommies Changing Diapers and Accidental Shootings of Bed Pan Emptiers in Nursing Homes—-and the NRA (and Vicki) will have something new to shout “BUT—” about.

        Lord love a duck, Vicki!

      • Right Brain Thinker

        Vicki? Vicki? VICKI?

I know from looking at the time stamp on your comment that it must be getting close to quitting time at your little “Trolls-n-Shills-r-Us” dungeon on the west coast, but you really should reply to me before you pack it in for today. Of course, the last time I backed you into a corner, you just stopped talking to me and hid, so maybe I shouldn’t be surprised at your silence here. Corners are tough, Vick, especially when you pretty much back into them yourself. LOL

I read DaveH link in response to Flushly; I am an internet shill 2-3 days ago, from a guy who did it and why. No matter how tough life gets, I’ll never understand how a person could do that to survive. So thanks for that link DaveH, a real shill explaining the “here’s how we’re taught” part. It was a good read. I’ve been here long enough to recognize the disruptive galt’s, flushly’s, rbt’s, nc’s, mark’s, and eddie dumber than a sack of hammers etc. It was nice to see their programming
to do what they do. today with a new hot button issue, i see there are new one’s trying to do their job. Yes, they are obviously new hires but they’ll get better you would think. This has all made it much easier/faster to see them in my daily life and i thank PLD, JeffH, Vicki, Kate8 for your skills in the written word and truth that speak volumes. I left out names but you know who you are. Thank you all for the links you provide, I read all I have time for.

It’s a gun grab. (sorry I haven’t read this discussion but wanted to throw this to one of my favorite alternative news sites).

    http://www.blinkx.com/watch-video/the-sandy-hook-shooting-exposed-did-sandy-hook-really-happen/ULHKtjyTCrzyZgO_R72RUQ

Now start getting really, really mad people…

    God Bless.

    • Right Brain Thinker

I am not too impressed with the level of effort you put into this comment. “It’s a gun grab”? And a link to a wing-nut conspiracy tape that badly distorts many things?
That’s it? I viewed the whole thing and I did get “really really mad” at one point.

That was after watching the Anderson Cooper interview with the McDonnell’s, who lost a daughter, and spending some time digging further into the circumstances of that interview. Perhaps some will recall the photo taken of them at the instant they learned of their daughter’s death?. It went viral and appeared on TV and the front pages of papers all over the country. Why? Because of the grief and shock it displayed.

And I get really angry with the “vultures” of the media who intrude on suffering people like that and shove cameras into their faces just because it’s “news”. The “media vultures”, a number of whom appeared in this clip, also run around “reporting non-information” and distorting what is really going on—-they have no idea of what’s happening and get into spewing the kind of horsepucky that leads to charges of conspiracy by those who see one under every rock. (But that’s another story)

Back to the McDonnell’s. I too felt that something was wrong when I watched the tape of the interview, WHICH WAS MUTED and made much of the facial expressions and body language of Mrs. McDonnell. As the narrator implied, it just “didn’t look right”. So I searched it out and viewed the clip WITH sound, as it should have been presented in the first place, because watching someone speak without hearing their words is meaningless (unless you’re a lip reader).

Guess what? Mrs. McDonnell is an attractive lady with an expressive face. She is also a strong lady who overcame her grief in order to speak to Cooper. WHEN YOU LISTEN TO HER WORDS AND MATCH THEM UP WITH HER FACIAL EXPRESSIONS, you will see that she is smiling because she is speaking with love for her daughter and thinking happy thoughts about her. Her words were moving and her facial expressions and body language were perfectly appropriate and matched her words. When I saw the truth of that, that’s the point at which I got “really really mad”. Mainly at the lying piece of dog manure responsible for that part of the tape, but also some at “brother” for sending us there to be misled.

There are many other “bones” one could pick with this “information” from a “favorite alternative news site”, but I won’t waste the time other than to say it’s hardly worth the time to do so. Those who want to BELIEVE that it’s a hoax will never be convinced it wasn’t. Those who can see that it wasn’t a hoax don’t need me to reinforce their understanding.

      God bless, indeed.

gun-control is not the issue, all these laws are already on the books, inasmuch as the jihadi-in-chief is concerned, this is only a distraction tactic, the so called new regulations have no other reason than to condition his subjects to accept the eventual eradication of our constitution and rights. the endgame is an american caliphate, ruled in accordance to sharia law and the orders from the moslem-brotherhood, enforced by the taliban, and al’qaeda respectively. benghazi was the main reason for this gun circus, we are being lowered to the cultural reach of an islamist reality show, missing are the camels, prayer rugs. a report came out of moslem-brotherhood infiltration,in the white-house,homeland security agency, the pentagon, and the c.i.a., any word of it on the news ? how about hassan the ft.hood killer ? and how did that arab-spring work out for the jews and the christians ? and the fact that our mufti hussein supplied weapons to al’qaeda in mali and algiers has been nicely covered by this gun issue this from a jihadi-in-chief that ran guns in mexico, the middle east, and north africa but i guess even if the public knew what makes an assault rifle (selective fire) as in full auto, and semi-auto, but you know what they say,
it is written the national-socialist party lives through sharia, and it is here. salaam

Guns don’t kill, people kill!! How long has it been since we have seen a convicted killer EXECUTED for his crime in this country?

    • R. Fine

Guns don’t kill people? Are you freakin’ nuts? How exactly did those 20 little kids die when their heads were literally blown off by that guy whit military grade heavy weaponry? Oh sure the shooter had mental problems but he also had and used a GUN, a G – U – N, gun. And it was a BIG gun and a fast gun with lots of bullets. So what we can say is that ‘People kill people but people with guns kills LOTS of people’.

      • Patriot

You know, I keep hearing about how guns kill people. So I checked mine and maybe something is wrong with them, but they haven’t killed anyone. Are they defective? I mean, if they are supposed to kill people, why aren’t they doing that?
You know, maybe this is a warranty issue. Maybe they can send me replacements that work right.

        • R. Fine

Gee, you actually make an interesting point. I suggest you send that idea to the parents of the 20 little children who had their bodies blown to bits a month ago.

          • Patriot

Your reaction is emotional, yet the fact remains it was a deranged nut that K-I-L-L-E-D those children, and taking my gun, limiting my magazine, or creating a myriad of other laws that affect inanimate objects and not the responsible party would have done nothing, and will do nothing moving forward. I was so horrified I cried for those families. So I get it. What I will never get is how facts are completely ignored when debating what should or should not be done about the lunatics that do this kind of thing.

          • R. Fine

It’s difficult to identify the lunatics. And even if it was easy there would have to be elaborate mental health programs available to them. I’m not sure if this would be or is covered in the Affordable Health Act (up here in Canada it is as part of our socialized universal health care system) but you are probably against Obamacare as well. It is far easier to limit the amount of ammo or the advanced type of weaponry that people can get their hands on. You can say that the loonies would then go around stabbing people which could be true but it tales longer and is harder to kill as many using a knife or a bat or whatever. Do you not realize how lethal the guns are that these mass killers are using?

          • Patriot

And taking MY gun would prevent this?
Do you know how many children Timothy McVeigh killed? 19 children under the age of 6…..and he didn’t even own a gun….
I am obviously wasting my time. I was correct. Facts are ignored by those that react emotionally rather than with reason and careful consideration. No point in furthering the discussion. Good day.

          • R. Fine

You ought not take this so personally. It’s not a question of taking YOUR particular gun away. I suppose you are quite normal and totally non violent. The issue is finding ways to limit the fire power that any old person walking in off the street can purchase and then do harm. Are you, for example, against universal background checks? Do you find that unreasonable? And if you think any weapon should be available to anyone why not allow ownership of bazookas or a tank or a flame thrower. Those are “arms” are they not? Surely there can be some limit placed of arms ownership. But if you don’t think so why not sell bombs to anyone who wants one. Why force loonies to have to shoot up a classroom full of kids with a measly rifle. A bomb – well placed – could blow up an entire school building with hundreds inside. Far more efficient wouldn’t you say?

      • Frank Kahn

        R. Fine, I take some exception to some of your assertions in the following quote.

“Guns don’t kill people? Are you freakin’ nuts? How exactly did those 20 little kids die when their heads were literally blown off by that guy whit military grade heavy weaponry? Oh sure the shooter had mental problems but he also had and used a GUN, a G – U – N, gun. And it was a BIG gun and a fast gun with lots of bullets. So what we can say is that ‘People kill people but people with guns kills LOTS of people’.”

First order of business is the statement “whit(sic) military grade heavy weaponry”

I have been in the Air Force and the Army, in neither one were we issued or trained on AR-15′s. While the AR-15 looks like an M-16, there is a significant difference, it is semi-automatic instead of selective fire. It cannot perform automatic fire.

Next order of business are the statements “heavy weaponry” and “BIG gun”. Personally, I would call a semi-automatic .50 cal rifle a “BIG gun”. Now, an AR-15 or M-16 fire a .223 cal bullet, this is just slightly bigger around than a 22. Pellet guns fire a .22 pellet. If you want to complain about “military grade heavy weaponry” you might consider that .308 semi-automatic deer hunting rifle that is so popular. The .308 is a 7.62mm NATO round which is used in the American military’s M60 machine gun.

Lots of bullets is a non issue, except in the case of the ability to expend them. You stated that it was a “fast gun”, well yes, it was as fast as he could pull the trigger, like all semi-automatic weapons.

Last item, you said “their heads were literally blown off”, I have not heard that description before, can you supply some proof that this happened? While the .223 is a high velocity bullet, it does not rip your head off. To blow their heads off would take several well placed rounds. This really sounds like hyperbole to me.

It is interesting that your last sentence answers your first one. You agreed that “people kill people”. That would imply that it is not guns that kill people.

        • R. Fine

Look I’ll agree not to quibble about the definition of “big gun” or what exactly the military uses or does not use. But isn’t the sad truth that those 20 tiny (can we agree that generally a 6 year child is tiny or would you like to suggest that a 6 year old is larger than a new born puppy?) children were blown away by a nut with a relatively powerful GUN? And apparently the damage to their bodies was so horrific that the coroner held back allowing the parents to see the mess that their children had become thanks to the GUN. But, you know what? Forget the part about their heads being blown off. Let’s scale back that perhaps overly vivid description and just agree that those 20 children (and the six school staff) are simply DEAD. D – E – A – D. Can we agree on DEAD? DEAD and GONE? Eh?

          • Frank Kahn

I will not argue that the children were young, and small people. I dont want to trivialize the deaths of innocent people no matter their age or size. My objection to your post is its underpinning of emotion. Humans have a tendency to react to tragedy with a desire to get even or get revenge. This is an emotional response that often clouds a persons judgement. People want to blame something that they can point to and say that is bad! In cases like this, the real “BAD” thing is gone, we cant punish it, the killer is already dead. This makes it difficult to LET GO of the anger and pain. So, what happens? People look for the next possible cause of the pain. The killer is gone but the GUNS are still here, lets get the guns for what THE KILLER did to those innocent little kids.

If you get rid of those EVIL GUNS that the KILLER used, and I mean the BUSHMASTER AR-15, he personally used, you will feel better, but will it solve the problem? Will taking away that GUN eliminate people that go on an insane murder rampage? Will you feel safer? Do you fear GUNS? Have you ever encountered a GUN that was trying to KILL you?

I had a person try, repeatedly to run me off the freeway at high speed. He was driving a Dodge Ram 2500 turbo diesel pickup. Am I afraid of big Dodge Ram pickups? NO. I am pretty sure that the pickup was not trying to kill me. It was the driver that was bad, not the vehicle.

Guns are the same thing, they are not bad, it is just a problem when BAD PEOPLE have guns. We need to find ways to identify people that are at risk of losing it and going on a killing spree, not get rid of all the guns.

          • R. Fine

You hit the nail on the head. What we have to do is find ways of limiting bad people from getting hold of these weapons that can mow down dozens of innocents in just seconds. And from the reasonable mood of the people it looks like the time has finally come for that. And as far as your example of road rage goes I wonder how things might have ended up if the other driver had a shot gun or whatever on the seat next to him. I mean he just might have rolled down his window and stared blasting away at you and your car. Given the right weapon he could have blasted 50 rounds into you and your car and your car would have gone flying off the road in a firery inferno. You’d be sitting there with bullets flying around your head wondering if he had ten shots or 50! But then even then you might not have minded dying in a fit of road and gun rage because, as you like to say, it was not the gun that killed you right? It was the lunatic. So no problem with that gun in the other vehicle. You know most Canadians have only the highest regard for the U.S.A. but when we watch the nightly news and see all the mass shootings in your country we mostly shake our heads in disbelief. What’s up with you people and freakin’ weaponry? I’m a retired history teacher so I know all about the ancient fight with King George and all but these killings at schools don’t really fit into that do they? We drive to N.Y.C. and Florida at least 4 times a year to see relatives and friends (and sunshine) and of late we actually drive with a fair amount of anxiety lest some gun lovin’ freedom lover decides we have crossed him and concludes we should be driven off the road and/or blasted off with one of his shot guns.

          • Jon Walser

Your fear is the same for NYC and Florida?
This just points out the irrationality of your fear, as the gun restrictions are entirely different.
I refuse to enter NYC on any pretext, not so much fear as distaste for collectivists, but Florida’s only problem is too much sun, as I don’t tolerate heat well.
If we move away from irrational fears and talk about ACTUAL dangers, I might point out that NYC is significantly more dangerous than anywhere in Florida. Indeed, it is demonstrable, that more guns in the hands of “gun lovin’ freedom lovers” means less gun crime, even for freedom hating Canadians.

          • robbiefine@hotmail.com

It makes no difference what state you are in. Anyone can buy a gun in a particular state and bring it with him anywhere. Gun laws will have to be national in nature. Why have strict laws in, say, Vermont if you have no laws in New Hampshire? New York City, by the way, is a wonderful place. Best city in the world and I have traveled all over the world – been in just about every big city. I suspect you have not gotten out much.

Don’t know why you call Canadians freedom hating. We have a very vibrant democratic parliamentary system with every right and freedom one could imagine. We also have the freedom from the fear of getting shot to death with no warning which happens all too often in your great land. Oh, maybe you call us freedom hating because we enjoy a national health insurance plan? (Hee, hee). We consider hospitals and medical care as a right much like the right to have a community firefighting service or a library etc. If your house catches fire we have folks who work for the city and are paid with tax funds who come and rescue you. You should try that idea out down where you live. In the same way if you get hit by a car or have a heart attack you are looked after by tax paid hospitals and doctors. That works really well too and no one up here has to go bankrupt if he/she gets sick or has some medical need. Try it, you might like it. It’s more or less like car insurance except instead of paying an insurance company you pay a graduated amount in your income tax and can have any medical service at any time. Maybe you are against car insurance. Weird.

Anyway, as I write this there is yet another shooting on a college campus. Students enjoying their Second Amendment rights!!! No details as yet but seems two students got into an argument. Both were packing heat and did a little gunfight at O.K. Coral type thing. Of course other people in the hallway got plugged as well. But, hey, thems the breaks. At least it happened in Texas where they appreciate gunfights! These public shootings are fun ain’t they?

Didn’t mean to call all Canadians freedom hating, I meant to call you freedom hating…based on your own sarcasm…perhaps your education prevented you from perceiving the reference.
I don’t intend to address the demonstrable disaster that is the Canadian health care system; there are plenty of articles available to do that. You as a history teacher should have little trouble finding them…
I didn’t say NYC wasn’t a wonderful place, I said it was run by collectivists, and they offend me.
I have lived in 9 different states, and have visited (also have relatives) in Mexico and Canada. In all those places, I have found wonderful people. I have also found people that thought they could run my life better than I can, and I should let them. In any case, you were the one that said he was afraid to drive to New York City, or did you mean only afraid to drive to Florida? If so, you suffer from hoplophobia, an IRRATIONAL fear of weapons, as Florida is measurably safer to travel to than NYC.

Our health care system is just fine thank you very much. Perfect? No. But I can tell you that one week ago today I began suffering chest pains at 3:00 A.M. Went to the ER just 5 blocks from home and was in the operating room 1/2 hour later with a team of about 10 folks who were on site. Stent inserted and 6 days resting in hospital. Today I am home feeling great. Rehab to follow and various doctor visits to keep an eye on things. Any and all follow ups too. Cost to me beyond whatever portion of my income tax supports our system: ZERO.

By the way you missed mentioning the campus shooting in Texas yesterday. These are becoming kind of boring I guess. Any shootings yet today? Mind you the day is young where I am. Have a good day…and keep your head down.

          • Jon Walser

I’m glad you are well, but discussions of health care would be very off-topic here.
As for the Texas shooting; I know little about it yet, and I try to refrain from comment when I am ignorant. I know, that is almost enough to get me kicked off the web entirely. ;-P

Universal health care – or lack thereof – is one of the central issues of the modern day.

Those 13 states that would have intensity in their gun laws, make sure the news media identifies them wholeheartedly. The media can let the crazies know where they can have a shooting spree. They also can publish the names of those peops that have weapons in those 13 states and then they can consolidate the criminals in each of those states and round them up. This idea is a free one obummer.

I have two 32 round clips for my 9mm Glock. I love them at the range as I don’t have to stop and reload every few minutes. It’s keeps my focus on precision shooting. That’s two more rounds than the clips Obama is trying to ban for assault weapons. The standard clip is 17 rounds. 9mm is a much larger round than a .223 and AT CLOSE RANGE, just as devastating with hollow points flying at 1500 to 1800 fps. A killer could do a lot more damage with such a firearm because of the compact size of both the gun and the clips. Why is he not addressing my handgun? Or is he? Does this proposed ban include handguns and their clips? Also does anyone know how the government will be able to identify who has what firearms? Canada tried to control long rifles like the AR and finally gave up. They were only able to get about 50,000 out of about 300,000 of them registered. It got so expensive they just gave up, which is likely what will happen here. Does the president think we are going to do any better considering our citizens own vastly more firearms than Canada even could, given population?

Why is there even a debate? Why even a defense? You and the NRA have so much blood on your hands. Lunatic and assault weapons – for no sane person would have a need for an assault rifle. Yes – great combination that. Makes me feel a whole lot safer. FYI. The constitution that you hide behind was written in the days of the wild west. Machine guns were never part of that amendment.
How many more shootings – and people killed – must there be before you right wing lunatics get the message?

    • Patriot

Ok. I am going to ask this again, just so that I am clear on exactly what your ideas are in regards to which lunatics own ‘assault weapons’ an how that affects you. I would also like clarification on exactly how me, or the NRA has ‘blood on our hands’.
I would also like to clarify, ‘machine guns’ have been illegal since 1932 and require a special class III firearms license to own. It should also be pointed out that since 1934 there have been only 2 murders committed with ‘machine guns’ in the U.S.
It is also important to point out that the ‘Constitution we hide behind’ is the same one that protects your right to saying what you wish, living where you wish, working where you wish, and most importantly, protects you and your family from searches and seizures of your private property by a tyrannical government. It also protects you from cruel and unusual punishment, guarantees you due process of law, and the right of religious freedom – all from a tyrannical government. What I find so fascinating is that when tyrannical government is used as a term when describing your freedoms in regards to all other amendments, the argument is sound. When you user the term ‘tyrannical government’ in regards to your right to keep and bear arms, you are a paranoid lunatic.

SO! All of that said – I want you to explain to me how taking my right to own firearms, including a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds ( or bullets, as you clearly have no clue as to what you are talking about ) as well as ‘assault weapons’ is going to prevent genuine lunatics from using them to kill innocent people.

Oh – one last thing – The Supreme Court upheld your right to private firearms ownership. They did because the ‘Constitution that we hide behind’ DID mean that each of us had the right to the same weapons that may be used against us. If you bothered researching our history, the documents of the founding, and the philosophy behind them, you may not simply parrot the same emotionally based stupidity that you just did here.

But! I digress. I eagerly await a well thought out and intelligent response.
