LOS ANGELES, Sept. 20 (UPI) — A Los Angeles professional graffiti artist used five skywriters to post a message to the city opposing recent crackdowns on graffiti and street art.

The artist, Saber, had the skywriters post his message in the air above downtown Los Angeles about noon Monday, the Los Angeles Times reported Tuesday.

“End Mural Moratorium,” the message in the sky read. “Art Is Not A Crime.”

Saber said the stunt was inspired by crackdowns on graffiti and street art as well as what he described as a campaign to remove public murals.

“This was once the city of murals,” he said, “but no more.”
