New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, known for his willingness to speak his mind, relayed a message to the President on Monday.
“Please don’t send me any more money to hire more public employees. Please don’t,” begged Christie. “I’ve got plenty as it is, and I don’t need any more, and they’re expensive.”
Despite failing the first time around, the government has been planning another round of stimulus spending which would include hiring more teachers, firefighters and police officers.
Christie argues that employing people in that fashion causes long-term harm and the money would be better spent building up infrastructure. “Where’s this money going to come from to pay these folks afterwards?”
Some believe the Governor’s most recent speech is another way to increase his presence on the national scene and get his name on the ticket in November.
Christie also said that he will wait until after the election to decide whether his State will accept the Obamacare expansion to Medicaid.
