Government Food Assistance To Focus On Nutrition For Pregnant Women, Children

April 28, 2011 by

Government food assistance to focus on nutrition for pregnant women, childrenThe U. S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) commissioned research to identify inadequacies in food assistance throughout the world. The two-year review, carried out by Tufts University and USAID's Office of Food for Peace, revealed a need for better nutrition for pregnant women and children.

The recommendations include reformulating fortified, processed foods to include more nutrients, promoting the use of fortified vegetable oils, improving the quality of widely distributed cereals and making prepared foods readily available for young families.

"These recommendations will help U.S. agriculture make an even bigger difference in the lives of the almost 1 billion hungry people around the world," said U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. "Together, USDA and USAID hope to further increase the effectiveness of our successful food aid programs."

In June, stakeholders will discuss the recommended changes at the International Food Aid and Development Conference. They hope to weigh potential impacts of the recommendations, possible setbacks and ways in which the changes may be implemented.

We’re in a world of sh*t and they’re working on sending more aid to people who will never see a dime of it to start with..
What’s next ? Money for pedicure and manicure ??

  • Jessica

What? Now they will be experimenting on pregent women and unborn babies. Don’t you think the gov. will be pushing GMO foods on them?

  • http://com i41

GMO foods aren’t the problem it is the dictator run 3rd world s–t holes. We feed them up so they can get a har up their rears to kill us.Dept of Ag should be disbanned and funding stopped. There has been decades of welfare and programs or the 3rd world reservation dead azzes, look at the fat f–ker in any rese4vation or welfare housing unit. We spend how many billions to be given away to dorks that hate USA, and same smucks try to kill us. Any muslim country the breeding rate is on pare with hogs, need to start disposing of the male perverts and if the females don’t start breeding until at least 20 there would be so many problems and catch a goat abuser assulting their females just shoot them, and that goes for the pedophileworshipping freaks in the USA. Another problem the Dept of Ag has is the decades of paying land owners billion over the last 3 decades to do not a damn thing, but cash their checks. The new and inproved welfare program for the dead azzed millionaries.

Thank you i41. You expressed the very sentiment I was gearing up for. However, I think if Americean farmers really like farming GMO foods, those foods should be on a fast-track for shipment to the rest of the world, so that we, in this country don’t have to worry about undisclosed marketing and ingestion of these products.

  • barbm

the problem with all this genetic engineering is that you cannot plant a field of engineered crops without the bees cross pollinating. in a very short time, we will all be eating it.

Since the creation of the Dept of Ag under FDR and the first Sec of Ag, a registered communist, they have beren controlling what farmers can go and whaty is approved to plant on private land. Why do you think Onumnutts and his radical marxist/communists are still planning to out law private land ownership, to contol all food production. Vegatable production is vetacally intergrate in in 3 mega companies, chickens production in 2, pork production in 4 and beef is controlled by 4. Rght nw several private producers aree going into toal liquadation, since mega stores and processors aren’t controlled bythe Grain, Stockers and Feeders Act. So enjoy your hamburger now because it takes 4 yyearsto build a cow herd up to full production no matter what size. We will not have to be worrying about nutrition with the rate we are going with feel good smucks at the helm.

Why is the federal government taking on food for pregnant women? Not our job… sorry. They have a responsibility not the government.

    • Eddie47d

Another righty for sick and unhealthy children. Kids born with weak immune systems or other health problems will have life long problems which we all end up paying for. I expect you will immediately go down to your church and offer to help these women, right?

    • meteorlady

Excuse me Eddie but I work for local food banks and the children’s fund in our county. That’s called charity, not government assistance at the expense of the taxpayer. Besides most of the government money goes to illegals and their multiple babies in my area.

What have you done for charity lately Eddie?

  • Jay

Eddie47, you are aware that there is no money left in the treasury, but in its stead, a colossal mountain of debt, right? You are aware that we are essentially bankrupt, right? What then was the purpose of your self-rightious statement? Will you come down to the Church and help the women as well? And what will you have to offer the in terms of help, your idiotic statements?

    • meteorlady

Eddie just spends time putting “righties” down. He doesn’t actually expect to have to work to help people get a leg up. He just advocates more government spending so he doesn’t have to lift a finger.
