GOP Pushes To Seat Scott Brown Before Final Healthcare Vote

January 26, 2010 by

GOP pushes to seat Scott Brown before final healthcare voteWhile Republicans continue to celebrate the historic Senate victory of Scott Brown in Massachusetts, conservative leaders in Washington have begun their push to get the senator-elect certified before Democrats finalize their version of the healthcare reform bill.

Brown, who represents the Republicans’ 41st vote in the Senate, breaking the Democrats’ filibuster-proof majority, has vowed to join the fight against the current piece of legislation being debated in Congress and "send it back to the drawing board."

Although Massachusetts Secretary of State William Galvin sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid yesterday confirming Brown’s victory in the special election, he cannot be seated until Massachusetts cities and towns certify the results, which they have 15 days to do, according to The Boston Herald.

Meanwhile, Brown and other conservative leaders fear that Democrats will intentionally attempt to stall the senator’s certification in an effort to pass the healthcare bill before he gets to Washington.

"Pushing to let Scott Brown represent the people that elected him is a critical step in stopping this bill from becoming law," said Arizona Senator John McCain, quoted by CNN.

When questioned on the possibility of attempting to stall the seating of Scott Brown in order to pass the healthcare bill, President Obama stated that "the people of Massachusetts spoke. He’s got to be part of that process."

If this type of sleazeball political misjustice is done, then every American should stand up and voice our outrage and demand that those responsible be removed from their elected positions.

    • denniso

What a ‘family values’ repub Brown is…former naked centerfold father offering his daughters to the world at his victory speech. What does Pat Robertson have to say about that?

      • L

You seem to be a communist democrate out to slander the Republican winner before he can be seated. This is the trick of the enemy, you are exposed. This trick will not prosper against the American citizans.

      • cr747

        That you are an idiot!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • Michael J.

        Denniso,
Sen. Brown is a Rino in a Romneyesque sort of way. The only type Republican electable in the looney left land that is Massachusetts.
His only saving grace is that he has caused a momentary about face in Obama’s destroy America campaign.

And why is Pat Robertson’s oppinion suddenly important?

        • denniso

Because Pat Robertson is also a rightwing wacko…your side.

      • Robert

        Hey, HOPEFORAMERICA, where’re you been?

  • Michael J.

Democrats know that even attempting to stall or somehow prevent Sen. Brown from being seated would be political suicide for their party which is already poised at the edge of a cliff.

    • TIME

      Michael,

Good point, but I also feel that the scope of and size of the Democratic party will be changed forever in the fall 2010, saddly the damage done by the ones now sitting will be felt for generations to come.
Thats really sad, as there are some very fine Democrats now in Congress, BUT – saddly not a single one in the senate all Democrats in the senate should be shot.

      Robert, Good points as well.

      • L

Agreed, it is the patriotic duty of law. Justice is to be cherished. You are commended.

  • James

The election of Senator Scott Brown is a sign of the times. The assumption that he didn’t stand a chance in Massachusetts was based on a belief that his State was solidly Democratic. It was rather based upon sympathy for Senator Edward Kennedy because of the murder of his brothers. Now that he’s gone, the scene has changed, his son Joe Kennedy only got 1% of the vote, which tells it all. Now, in Massachusetts, unwanted federally mandated health care is a greater issue than the Kennedy family.

    • libertytrain

James – Joe Kennedy was not related, is not related, is not the son of Ted Kennedy. He took the name Kennedy as a young person – it was the name of his foster parents.

      • eyewideopen

        libertytrain, good catch!!

      • James

Libertyrain, Right, that was a good catch I naturally assumed ‘Joe’ was his son. Now, I’m wondering how many Massachusetts’ voters thought likewise. Do you know what his former real last-name was?

        • libertytrain

James – I don’t, though many articles made mention of the fact that he was not related. Here’s a section of an article I read recently:

“Then there’s this Joe Kennedy, who was born to a young Puerto Rican mother and a Portuguese father in Boston and later took the last name of his foster parents. He says the Kennedy name is not something he particularly enjoys as a candidate.”

  • gaetano

The democrats could do what ever they want to.You can bet that pelosi and reid and a lot of others will be replaced, sooner or later and it doesn`t make any differance anymore what the dem.`s try to pull, because the republicans are on the march. The people of this country have spoken and The state of Mass. has clairified what the people want. We the people are still the boss, and know on ,I REPEAT, no one will take our freedom,or change our democracy.

    • Ray Carsjens

Lets not believe that the Right Republican party is back to being righcheous. The win in Mass 51% were independants 23% were Dems and only 12% republicans, We the People Tea Baggers have returned, and will allow who we wish to place in office once again, please dont take that arogantly. The republicans and Demos are not our Grandparents parties. They are I believe multi cultural progressive liberals on both sides. Its time everyone else wakes up or you will find this Great USA undone by people who if they like it so much, Fascism, Marxists ways should just move to Europe or France. We are going to speak about America Now. Dont play the progressive play zone game, stop playing and responding to them completly. The faster we do the quicker the move, back to OUR LIBERTY. Remember ( WE THE PEOPLE ) When the People fear the GOV its Tyrany, when the GOV fears the People its LIBERTY GOD BLESS AMERICA

      • Sandra Lucier

I agree wholeheartedly with Ray Carsjens. It’s time to get back to the constitution and the principles that made this country great.
If you don’t like our country’s constitution, our flag and symbols leave!!!

      • http://myronjpoltroonian.blogspot.com Myron J. Poltroonian

Please do not adopt the derogatory phraseology of the diminutive demagogues’ of the left. Please note: I cannot help but notice that those who use the term ‘Teabaggers” as a vulgar, derogatory reference to those who voluntarily attended “Tea Party” rallies; unwittingly expose what it is they use for dental floss. “If you lay down with …, you’ll get up with … .”

      • BOE

Ray…we the people THE TEA PARTY…not the tea baggers! That`s what Obama calls us. But you are right about the progressive party. We realy need to find out who on both sides consider themselves progressives. There are republicans that have to be removed too.

        • denniso

Sorry, but I believe that the ‘tea party’ people themselves started the phrase,’tea bagger’.

          • L

It would be very unwise to assume such.

          • Robert

Hi, HOPEFORAMERICA, we all missed you!

        • Ray Carsjens

Sorry but I am what ever they decide to call me, Im racist, radical right, amti government, hatemonger etc etc What ever they say I am I must be remember they can read our minds apparently. Im a TEA BAGGER aswell, Just as long as they dont call me liberal or marxist, leftist, femine, sosialist. I am proud to be a TEA BAGGER its not a bad thing, and since they claim they only have truth I must be racist etcetc instead of just someone who dosent like the direction their government is trying to take us.

    • JeffH

gaetano, the Republicans are not on the march…the people have had enough of the partisan, liberal politics of the Obama Democrats and, believe me, to think the Republicans are the answer is just naive.

Scott Brown should be sworn in before any more votes are taken on HR. The Dems are pretty much throwing in the towell for the time being, but don’t trust them or take your eyes off of them for even one second. Pelosi and Reid are capable of anything at anytime and Obama isn’t above lobbying Congress to get his way. Remember, they operate best behind closed doors in secret meetings.

    • Colonel JP

      Really?

      Demoralization, Destabilization, Insurgency, Normalization
This amazing interview was done back in 1985 with a former KGB agent who was trained in subversion techniques. He explains the 4 basic steps to socially engineering entire generations into thinking and behaving the way those in power want them to. It’s shocking because our nation has been transformed in the exact same way, and followed the exact same steps.
Interviewer, G. Edward Griffin: Our conversation is with Mr. Yuri Alexandrovich Bezmenov. Mr. Bezmenov was born in 1939 in a suburb of Moscow. He was the son of a high ranking Soviet Army officer. He was educated in the elite schools inside the Soviet Union and became an expert in Indian culture and Indian languages. He had an outstanding career with Novesti, which was the, and still is, I should say, the Press arm or the press agency of the Soviet Union. It turns out that this is a front for the KGB. He escaped to the West in 1970 after becoming totally disgusted with the Soviet System. And he did this at great risk to his life. He is certainly one of the world’s experts on the subject of Soviet propaganda and disinformation and active measures.
When the Soviets use the phrase ideological subversion, what do they mean by it?
Yuri Bezmenov: Ideological subversion is the process which is legitimate, overt and open. You can see it with your own eyes. All you have to do — all American mass media has to do — is to unplug their bananas from their ears, open up their eyes and they can see it. There is no mystery. There is nothing to do with espionage.
I know that espionage — intelligence gathering — looks more romantic. It sells more deodorants through their advertising, probably. That’s why your Hollywood producers are so crazy about James Bond type, in free words.
But in reality, the main emphasis of the KGB is not in the area of intelligence at all. According to my opinion and the opinion of many defectors of my caliber only about fifteen percent of time, money, and manpower is spent on espionage as such. The other eighty-five percent is a slow process which we call either ideological subversion, or active measures, (~Activitia perionachia, in the language of the KGB), or psychological warfare. What it basically means is to change the perception of reality of every American to such an extent that despite the abundance of information no one is able to come to sensible conclusions in the interests of defending themselves, their families, their community, and their country. It’s a great brainwashing process which goes very slow and is divided into four basic stages. The first one being demoralization.
It takes from fifteen to twenty years to demoralize a nation. Why that many years? Because this is the minimum number of years which requires to educate one generation of students in the country of your enemy exposed to the ideology of the enemy. In other words Marxist-Leninism ideology is being pumped into the soft heads of at least three generations of American students without being challenged or counter-balanced by the basic values of Americanism, American patriotism. …
Most of the activity of the Department was to compile huge amount, volume of information on individuals who were instrumental in creating public opinion, publishers, editors, journalists, actors, educationalists, professors of political science, members of Parliament, representatives of business circles. Most of these people were divided roughly in two groups, those that would toe the Soviet foreign policy. They would be promoted to the positions of power through media and public opinion manipulation. Those who refused the Soviet influence in their own country would be character assassinated or executed physically, counter-revolution.
Same way, as in the small town of Hue, in South Vietnam, several thousands of Vietnamese were executed in one night when city was captured by Vietcong for only two days. And American CIA could never figure out, how could possibly Communists know each individual, where he lives, where, where to get him and would be arrested in one night, basically, arrested four hours before dawn, put on a van, taken out of the city limits and shot? The answer is very simple. Long before Communists occupied city there was extensive network of informers, local Vietnamese citizens who knew absolutely everything about people who are instrumental in public opinion, including barbers and taxi drivers. Everyone who was sympathetic to United States was executed.
Same thing was done under the guidance of the Soviet Embassy in Hanoi. And same thing I was doing in New Delhi. To my horror, I discovered that in the files were people who were doomed to execution. There were names of pro-Soviet journalists with whom I was personally friendly.
      G. Edward Griffin : Pro-Soviet?
Yuri Bezmenov: Yes. They were idealistically-minded Leftists who made several visits to USSR and yet the KGB decided that counter-revolution or drastic changes in political structure in India, they would have to go.
      G. Edward Griffin : Why is that?
Yuri Bezmenov: Because they know too much. Simply because, you see, the useful idiots, the Leftists who are idealistically believing in the beauty of Soviet socialist or Communist or whatever system when they get disillusioned, they become the worst enemies. That’s why my KGB instructors specifically made a point, never bother with Leftists. Forget about these political prostitutes. Aim higher. This was my instruction. Try to get into wide circulation, established conservative media. Reach the filthy rich movie makers, intellectuals, so-called academic circles, cynical, ego-centric people who can look into your eyes with an angelic expression and tell you a lie. These are the most recruit-able people. People who lack moral principles who are either too greedy or to suffer from self-importance, they feel that they matter a lot. These are the people who KGB wanted very much to recruit.
Interviewer, G. Edward Griffin: To eliminate the others, to execute the others, don’t they serve some purpose? Wouldn’t they be the ones to rely on?
Yuri Bezmenov: They serve purpose only at the stage of destabilization of a nation. For example, your Leftists in the United States, all these professors and all these beautiful civil rights defender, they are instrumental in the process of subversion, only to destabilize the nation. When the job is completed, they are none, they are not needed any more. They know too much. Some of them, when they see the Marxist-Leninists come to power, obviously, they get offended. They think that they will come to power. That will never happen, of course. They will be lined up against the wall and shot. But, they may turn into the most bitter enemies of Marxist-Leninism when they come to power. And that’s what happened in Nicaragua.
You remember, most of the former Marxist-Leninist either were put to prison. And one of them split and now he’s working against the Sandinistas. It happened in Grenada, when Maurice Bishop, he was already a Marxist. He was executed by a new Marxist who was more Marxist than this Marxist. The same happened in Afghanistan. First there was Taraki. He was killed by Amin and Amin was killed by Brabak Karbakil with the help of the KGB. The same happened in Bangladesh when Mungi Burackman, the very pro-Soviet Leftist, was assassinated by his own Marxist-Leninist military comrades. It’s the same pattern everywhere. The moment they serve their purpose, all these useful idiots are used, either be executed entirely, or exiled or put in prison. Many former Marxists are in Cuba, are in prison.
So, basically, you in America are stuck with demoralization. And unless, even if you start right now, here this minute, educating a new generation of Americans, it will still take fifteen or twenty years to turn the tide of ideological perception of reality and normalcy and patriotism.
The result? The result you can see. Most of the people who graduated in the sixties, dropouts or half-baked intellectuals are now occupying the positions of power in the government, civil service, business, mass media, educational system. You are stuck with them. You cannot get rid of them. They are contaminated. They are programmed to think and react to certain stimuli in a certain pattern. You cannot change their mind even if you expose them to authentic information. Even if you prove that white is white and black is black. You cannot change the basic perception and illogical behavior. In other words, these people, the process of demoralization is complete and irreversible. To rid society of these people you need another twenty or fifteen years to educate a new generation of patriotically-minded and, and common sense people who would be acting in favor and in the interests of United States society.
Interviewer, G. Edward Griffin: And yet these people who have been programmed and as you say, in-placed ….
      Yuri Bezmenov: Yes.
Interviewer, G. Edward Griffin: … who are favorable to an opening with the Soviet concept. These are the very people who would be marked for extermination?
Yuri Bezmenov: Most of them, yes. Simply because the psychological shock when they will see the future, what the beautiful society of equality and social justice means in practice. Obviously, they will revolt. They will be very unhappy, frustrated people. A Marxist-Leninist regime does not tolerate these people. They obviously will join the leagues of dissenters, dissidents. Unlike in present United States, there will be no place for dissent in future Marxist-Leninist America. Here you can, you can get popular, like Daniel Ellsberg, or filthy rich, like Jane Fonda, for being dissident, for criticizing your Pentagon. In future these people will simply be squashed like cockroaches. Nobody is going to pay them nothing for their beautiful, noble ideas of equality. This they don’t understand. And will be greatest shock for them, of course.
The demoralization process in the United States is basically completed already. For the last thirty-five years. Actually, it is over-fulfilled because demoralization reaches such areas where previously, not even Comrade Andropov [1911-1984] and all his experts would even dream of such a tremendous success. Most of it is done by Americans to Americans, thanks to lack of moral standards. As I mentioned before, exposure to true information does not matter any more. A person who is demoralized is unable to assess true information. The facts tell nothing to him. Even if I shower him with information, with authentic proof, with documents, with pictures. Even if I take him, by force, to the Soviet Union and show him concentration camp, he will refuse to believe it until he is going to receive a kick in his fat bottom. When the military boot crashes his, then he will understand. But not before that. That is the tragedy of this situation of demoralization.
The next stage is destabilization. This time, the subverter does not care about your ideas, the patterns of your consumption, whether you eat junk food and get fat and flabby. It doesn’t matter anymore. This time, and it only takes from two to five years to destabilize a nation, what matters is essentials, economy, foreign relations, defense systems. And you can see it quite clearly in sensitive areas as defense and economy. The Marxist-Leninist ideas in the United States is absolutely fantastic. I could never have believed in fourteen years ago [1971] when I landed in this part of the world that the process would go that fast.
The next stage is crisis. It may take only six weeks to bring a country to the verge of crisis. You see it in Central America now. And after crisis, with a violent change in power, structure, and economy, you have the period of so-called normalization will last indefinitely. Normalization is a cynical expression borrowed from Soviet propaganda. When the Soviet tanks moved into Czechoslovakia in ’68, Brezhnev said, ‘now brother Czechoslovakia is normalized.’ This is what will happen in the United States if you allow all these schmucks to promise all the goodies and paradise on earth to destabilize your economy, to eliminate the principle of free market competition, and to put a big brother government in Washington, D.C. with benevolent dictators like Walter Mondale who will promise lots of things, never mind if they are fulfilled or not. He will go to Moscow to kiss the bottoms of the new generation of Soviet assassins. Never mind. He will create false illusions that the situation is under control. Situation is not under control. Situation is disgustingly out of control.
Most politicians, media, and educational system frames another generation who think they are living at the peace time. False. The United States is in a state of war against the basic principles and the foundations of this system.
And the initiator of this war is not comrade Andropov of course. It’s the system. However ridiculous it may sound, the world Communist system, the world Communist conspiracy. Whether I scare some people or not, I don’t give a hoot. If you are not scared by now, nothing can scare you. But you don’t have to be paranoid about it. What actually happens now, that unlike myself you have literally several years to live on unless the United States wake up. The time bomb is ticking. Every second the disaster is coming closer and closer. Unlike myself, you will have nowhere to defect to, unless you want to live in Antarctica with penguins. This is the last country of freedom and possibility.
      G. Edward Griffin: OK, what do we do? What is your recommendation to the American people?
Yuri Bezmenov: The immediate thing that comes to my mind, of course, there must be an immediate, very strong national effort to educate people in the spirit of real patriotism, number one. Number two, explain the real danger of socialist, Communist, whatever welfare state, big brother government. If people will fail to grasp the impending danger of their development, nothing ever can help United States. You might kiss goodbye to your freedoms, including freedoms to homosexuals, prison inmates, all this freedom will vanish, evaporate in five seconds, including your precious life.
The second thing, the moment at least part of the United States is convinced that the danger is real, they have to force the American government, and I’m not talking about sending letters, signing petitions and all these beautiful noble activity. I’m talking about forcing the United States government to stop aiding Communist government.

      • L

I have personaly witnessed the behavior and effects in persons that Mr. Yuri Alexandrovich Bezmenov has described as being proven. The current political and social structure is as he has warned. Only the faithful to the original intent of the American Constitution, thru the conservative party Republicans have a realistic hope of preventing the horrors which are looming before the face.

    • L

      Republicans On The March;

“While Republicans continue to celebrate the historic Senate victory of Scott Brown in Massachusetts, conservative leaders in Washington have begun their push to get the senator-elect certified before Democrats finalize their version of the healthcare reform bill.

Brown, who represents the Republicans’ 41st vote in the Senate, breaking the Democrats’ filibuster-proof majority, has vowed to join the fight against the current piece of legislation being debated in Congress and “send it back to the drawing board.”

      Victory! Onward Soldiers!

  • Norm

Obama has publicly stated that no action should be taken until Brown is confirmed. You have to realize though that the current Senate bill, as bad as it is, is a done deal, and if the House agrees with it no further Senate input is required.
For all you smiling neocons, the bad news is the Scott Brown is quite a liberal Republican. Being a New Englander myself (Connecticut) I understand and like Scott. Scott along with former Gov. Mitt Romney passed a healthcare law in Mass. that covers 98% of Mass. citizens. His biggest complaint with the current federal bill is it would force Mass. to pay health care for other states. Good point. He is a physical conservative and a successful lawyer. I think this guy will actually interact with the Democrats, unlike Demint,McConnel, and some of the hard core naysayers.

    • DaveH

That’s “Fiscal” Conservative Norm. And my jury is out on that. I guess I will have to see him in action to decide if he really is a Fiscal Conservative. From what I read on his “issues” page, he favors Government “solving” our problems. Government cannot solve our problems. They only spend more of our money wastefully and take our choices away.
From what I see Brown is just another RINO as is Mitt Romney. And as long as Republicans keep electing these RINOs, the Government is just going to keep growing until our system collapses under its own weight.

      • Norm

        DaveH
Actoally “physically” he’s pretty liberal, judging from his ladies mag. poses.

        • DaveH

          You’re funny Norm.
You know that made me think. I forgot that Brown was a lawyer. Just what we need another lawyer in Congress. They love to write complex laws so their lawyer buddies (and themselves later on) can be guaranteed full employment. We need to start insisting that our candidates promise to reduce the size of Government, and we aren’t going to get that from lawyers.
And Norm, you seem like an intelligent guy. Why don’t you study some Free Market concepts and learn why free enterprise works where Government fails? You could be the first in your crowd to learn some reality.

    • Ray Carsjens

Dont be surprised to find out Obama lying once again, Im sure that Pelosi, Ried and the PRES are putting together some new yrs fetivities, of which will include just signing the into legislation the senATE BILL THEY HAVE NOW. Beleiev me , we are dealing with the worst of the worst and after maybe Jan 27 the State of the Nation address you will see this. Barack will and might reveal that they are or already have accepted the senate bill, The Address to america will look good remember how efficiant He talked before Election day. Now He s just progressivly getting worse, The Epitohmy of evil. Eveything
He has stated He would do He has not done, accept our troops. He should hang on a treeason act.

      • http://tcmm1948@gmail.com tc

true but all 3 of the leaders pelosi, reid and obama should be put up for treason against the constitution of the united states of america .

    • http://tcmm1948@gmail.com tc

you may be right, but i hope you are wrong

    • STAN

Even though Obama has publicly stated that……. He also publicly stated things like transparency, Bipartisanship,CNN, and a whole lot more that turned out to be lies. I, along with millions of others got sucked in by his marvelous speeches. I no longer believe anything he says. My family, along with Democrats and Republicans are now carrying TEA PARTY signs.

    • JeffH

Norm, after all of Obamas promises he has broken, you still take him at his word. WOW! The jury will be out on Brown, and I agree with DaveH, we will wait and see. You could only hope that the Dems and Brown could work together. If he holds to his words, forget it, but afterall, this is politics isn’t it.

  • Raggs

I watch Fox news everyday and have seen obama, gibbs and pelosi deny the election in Mass was due to the anger in America due to spending, health care and the radical agendas , bail-outs etc. These people are either blind, stupid or both. That being said I find it at no surprise the far left will do everything possible to push health care through even when Scott takes his seat.. “The peoples seat”. I lot of people think that since this election in Mass obama and his far left will or may slide closer to the center… I don’t think so at all!
He is too hung up on himself and his solcialistic agenda. He will not stop.. but he can be slowed to a crawl by the ousting of all democractic incumbants this year.

    • DaveH

That concept of the “People’s Seat” sends up a red flag to me Raggs. It reminds me of the kind of Sweet Sounding Lies that Democrats tell to get elected. The fact is that no politician can please all the people. That is the reason Big Government causes so much societal turmoil. One Size does not fit All. It never will. The only possible way to achieve contentment is to get back to the Individual Freedom, Individual Responsibility, and Limited Government that our Founders envisioned. When people can freely choose their own course in life, they will be their happiest.
There is only one Political Party that I know offers that kind of Freedom. And it certainly isn’t one of the two major Parties.

      • Raggs

        Dave.. your correct.
Scott did support health care in Mass, That kinnda makes me wonder.
I relly don’t see how to trust either current parties but at the same time I think we have no choice but to take the lesser of the two evils. It would be wonderfull if we had a third party one that stood for independance from the government and freedom… But who?
The republicans still do not have thier sh** together even after this election. My feeling is they are sleeping and hoping the people will give them an edge this year. Even if that happens and I think it will the repub’s are so out of touch they don’t even have a leader for thier party. If they gain power in both houses who on thier party will control it?…

        • cr747

The American People are going to have to quit thinking PARTIES, DEMS. REPUBS. and all others. We are going to have to start thinking individual. Vote for the PERSON instead of the PARTY.
This way you don’t have to worry about party affiliations, just candidates that will get the JOB done no matter his party affiliations.
Let them know if they fail to represent the people, then they are OUT, period. Forget about party affiliation.
Remember read your candidate, watch their moves, their eyes, their speaking, watch their hand gestures. It is easy to read a person. I did this with Obama, and after a couple debates, and speeches, I new real quick he was telling a lie, more times than the truth. I did not vote for him…..REMEMBER READ YOUR CANDIDATES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • eyewideopen

But Raggs, everyone there just loves their healthcare. It would have been nice if the rest of the country could have something similar. Even the Repubs in state are polling that they love their healthcare. So Mitt, must have done something right.

Peoples anything sounds a little socialistic. He is an old fashioned, slightly right of center Republican. This is the only type of Republican that is electable in most of this country. Rush may tell you otherwise, but run a neocon and you get Obama. If the Dems hadn’t run Kerry, Bush could have easily been beaten for term 2.

  • Patty Harris

If Martha won or another democrat they would have fell over their own feet to seat the person.
They are draging the process out to pull dirty tricks again.
Obama & his cronies are rotton to the core.

    • http://Don'thaveone Sally

According to another of the Liberty Digests that I receive, it said that when Ted Kennedy was elected as Senator, it took one day to have him seated in Congress.

      • cr747

Of course, that does not surprise me. If Coakley had won they would already have her seated. They are all CROOKS AND ROBBERS….They have to be voted out, and “WE THE PEOPLE” are going to have to put some people in there that will listen to US. LET THEM KNOW THE CONSEQUENCES, they screw up, they will be removed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • eyewideopen

cr747, you conspiracy theorists, need to understand that the rules of the state dictate when an elected Congressman may be seated. Each state has different documentation and requirements, that Congress has to abide by. Much as you would like to blame Pelosi, and the Dems, it really is not their decision. I know it makes you feel good to slander and accuse the other party, but it really makes you all look like uninformed cry babies. You should educate your self on your own states laws and you will see that each one is different.

          • DaveH

You should educate yourself EyeWideShut. The State certifies the election of an official, but the Congress swears-in that official.
The swearing-in ceremony can be conducted anytime after the State has certified the election of that individual.
Maybe you missed the fact that Congress swore-in Bill Owens even before he was even certified as the winner, so he could vote in favor of the HealthCare Bill in the House.
You devious Liberals change the rules any which way that suits your purposes.
And why are you imitating the ID of EyesWideOpen?

          • cr747

eyes if you would read or listen to the news you wouldn’t look so out of place. The state has already presented SEN. BROWNS papers to the proper authorities.

Wise up a little bit, maybe you might learn something that you know nothing about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • Michael J.

            EWO,
What happened to to “S” in your screen name? How do we know it’s you?
Because an imposter would not have the same foot in mouth characteristics, that’s how.
Meanwhile,I beleive I read that in the state of Mass. each district/precinct has 15 days to certify the victorious candidate.
That being said, we may all rest assured that if Coakley had won, she would have been certified with transwarp expediancy. Where as Brown’s certification will probably proceed with all the foot dragging you’d expect to see from the French Foreign Legion at the end of a 500 mile march through the dessert.

  • http://personalliberty Bob Galiley

James – Joe was not one of “the Kennedy” clan.
Norm – You’re right he is quite liberal on some social issues. But he is a “Fiscal” conservative (maybe he’s physical also). I doubt that he can just abandon all off his campaign rhetoric – he knows the penalty first hand for that.

    • DaveH

Oh come on Bob. Obama has abandoned his campaign promises in droves and 88% of the Democrats still adore him. The fact is that once these people get in office, it is very difficult to unseat them.

      • Norm

        DaveH
Obama inherited the worst mess in recent history. All things considered I think he did OK, and the alternative could have been a disaster.
How about listing some of these great lies you keep talking about.

        • http://Don'thaveone Sally

Lets start with government being transparant for one. No. 2 he was going to have the country back on its feet and people working in July (last year) etc etc etc. Norm what has he done brsides spend money. Oh yeah another big item was that he was going to bring troops home from Iraq and send 40,000 to Afganistan. Only troops that have so far gone to Afganistan are replacements not new ones. I thought you had a little smarts here. Why do you think the whole country is sooooo upset? Security, we don’t have any, where is the birth certificate and college records. I blame the republicans on this issue – when he one the primaries, I would have demanded them right then and there!!! My son born of two american citizens cannot be president because he was born on Turkish soil and carried dual citizenship until he was 21. The only birth certificate he had was a State Department birth certificate which wasn’t good enough for a US passport when he was in the Navy. If I had not saved my passport where he was added when he was 10 months old, the kid would have been without a country and yet this Ass- – - – can get away with everything!

          • Norm

            Sally
He’s not Hudini. Reagan took nearly 3 years to turn a recession around and it wasn’t anywhere near as bad as Obama inherited. You pinheads are so stuck on believing that this mess starteded after the election. Check the facts. Remember it was Bush and Paulson that invented the bailouts.

          • Norm

            Sally
He did disappoint me by continuing the failed Bush/Cheney polices in Iraq and Afganistan. Don’t kid yourself, Iraq was no victory. It’s “sort of” stable with 100,000 american troops and hugh numbers of contractors guarding the place. Wait till they leave.
Next the whole country isn’t upset, just you Rush dittoheads.
The nonsense about his birth certificate and college transcript is too dumb to even discuss.
Any thing else. Your list was pretty short – much shorter than the Bush
            lie list.

          • DaveH

Reagan inherited 15% a year inflation Norm. Do you think it’s easy to get people to bite the bitter pill to accept the drastic measures that had to be undertaken to stop the inflation?
I doubt that Obama’s replacement will have the strength that Reagan had. And we are going to have massive inflation when all those dollars start coming out of the woodworks. You seem like an Okay guy Norm, so I hope that you are protecting your cash savings against inflation. It is coming.

          • Joe H.

            cr747,
Did you see the report about the Mayo Clinic in Arizona today?? Seems they won’t take any more medicare patients after the first of the year. They say the government doesn’t even pay the “cost” oftreating medicare patients let alone anything to cover the Dr.s wages. they have lost millions and millions on it!!! And now O-man wants to make cuts to medicare AND add everyone over 55 to it!! What a rip -off!!!!

          • cr747

            Joe H,
That is also happening in other states at some of the larger clinics, and hospitals.
Can’t say that I blame them. I think everyone new it was going to happen, and naturally it did with what we have got running the country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I certainly feel sorry for those people who have had medicare, and depend on it. Such a shame. All because of some greedy a–holes who think they know all the answers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

          • L

In response to cr747; Bankrupting Medicare is not the only indirect consequence to the “O”s communistic policy. Look for sky rocketing drug crime when the teen age and other addicts can no longer get the psycodilics, tranks, etc. from clinics they will turn to the organized drug trafficers. They will steal them or commit other crimes to pay for their addiction crazed fixes. Be prepared for massive crime waves. They are already at epidemic proportions but scarcely reported. I know this by current observation at large.

        • cr747

          Norm,
There simply is not enough room to list them all. I wouldn’t trust him to be my stable cleaner. Would get him confused with a HORSE turd and scoop him into the dumpster!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

          • Norm

            cr747
There is plenty of empty space.

          • cr747

            Norm,
I was talking about your head not having enough room to comprehend what is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • DaveH

          Here you go Norm,
Rather than cut and paste like Normal Liberal would do, I’ll just give you a link:
          http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=91286

There are many more websites for “Obama + broken promises”.

      • eyewideopen

DaveH, our paper ,the St. Petersburg Times, has a breakdown of Obama’s promises. Promises kept 91, Compromise 33, Promise broken 14, Stalled 87, In the Works 275, Not yet rated 2** those were based on a catastrophic natural disaster which hasn’t happened as of today. I leave it to you Repubs/Libertarians, to find the promises broken by Bush. That is if you can even admit that he lied about the wars. You and I already know that Ron Paul broke his promise about earmarks, so maybe you can admit that all elected officials will break their promises, in addition to lying. The Times, is a locally, independently owned paper that doesn’t anwser to any media corporation. They are equally hated by the left and right.

        • DaveH

I don’t need to scrutinize Bush. He has been out of office over a year now. I guess you missed that with all your intelligence. I don’t care if Bush kept his promises or not. Would that be your ignorant defense in Court? Oh, but your honor, I’m not the only person who lies!

        • cr747

          eyes,
you sure said it right about all the elected officials breaking their promises, and lying. Sure has been a lot of it since Obama and his jerks “putting it mildly” have took office. YEP just 1 year and all those promises, and lies. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        • Michael J.

          Ewo,
With all due respect, The St. Petersburg Times is well known as a far left liberal rag no matter who owns it. If this is a regular news source for you, it explains alot.

        • Earlw

EWO, I live just across the big pond in Tampa, and I can vouch for the fact that The St. Pete times is extremely liberal! I have lived in this area for Nearly 20 years, and would much rather be in The tampa neighborhood where at least there are conservative value. A quick nutshell snapshot view on my part upon observing the St. Pete. area was one of aged retirees and hippie types from out of town, and kind of a run-down area. Tampa is much more conservative, and the median age is 27….Signed, Natural Born Floridian

  • Cher

If “Teddy’s last wish” to change his own slanted law had not been shoved onto the people of Mass. and the election had gone through as it should have, I have no doubt there would have been a Senator Coakley elected in November before we all got smarter. Low handed liberal politics came back to bite & it bit hard. I just hope they try to drag their feet to seat Scott Brown. The whole country is watching and I can’t help but feel there has got to be a few good or at least smart Democratic Senators that won’t follow the suicide march.

  • Ray Carsjens

Obama Has taken the Leap already. He has committed Suicide, now lets see who will follow.
Its not about MURDER anymore its about terroist uni bomers called Democrates, lets see how many will commit suicide them selves. Obama already stated that He rather be a great one term president Than a Mediocre Two term. He will go down in my History Books as the Crook from Chicago that spent more than GW BUSH spent in 8yrs, in just one yr. When all the dots are connected it will show a huge proposed USSA agenda that Americans (True) fought and won against.

    • Norm

      Ray Carsjens
It was/is expensive to clean up the idiots mistakes.

    • L

Ray, I fully agree. Also, the Clinton “war room” was smoking hot after President Bush won in 2000 and after 2 years, the ‘fix’ was in. Republicans lost the three branch majority and the States lost a great recovery.

  • Pat R

    Norm:
I don’t know whose “butt” your head has been stuck in; but everytime Obama opens his mouth he LIES! There has been no transparency, No C-Span
broadcast on Healthcare negotiations. Nothing has been Bi-partisan. Everything is done behind closed doors! Is that the way this Country should be run? I don’t think so.

Obama, Pelosi and Reid are up to no good and the truth will soon come out. They don’t care what We the People want! It’s going to be their way or no way.

Remember ” Keep some Powder Dry!” I look for the sh_t to hit the fan before too long!

    • Norm

      Pat R
When you have a Republican minority who refuse to negotiate or even address any issue, there is not much to show to anybody. Mitch, the king of earmarks, suddenly is worried about government waste? If it wasn’t for his deliveries to Kentucky he wouldn’t have even elected.
Then Demint of SC and his extremist cronies openly state that they want Obama to fail. If Obama fails we all fail. For all its BS South Carolina is on the federal gravey train.

      • sandyinohio

Grow up Norm, the Dems, control the House and Senate and Presidency: what else do they need? Yes, I know, they want the SCOTUS to back their partisan positions too, but they certainly don’t need them to pass a bill, if it is constitutional!

      • Joe H.

        Norm,
If O-man could have convinced ALL the dems that his plan was good they could have rammed it through anytime they wanted to!!! Even some of the Dems knew the plan stank up Washington worse than usual!!!!

      • http://myronjpoltroonian.blogspot.com Myron J. Poltroonian

A fool doesn’t know what he believes and saying is foolish. A Damned Fool does, and says it anyway. If NerObama’s wrong-headed policies fail – America wins. Plain and simple – “Fool”.

      • Meteorlady

Norm – you fail to point out that we have had creeping socialism since FDR and, especially LBJ. These two Presidents and the Dem congress did more harm to the American way of life than any other in history. They have left us massive government programs that we cannot hope to pay for, nor will our children and grandchildren be able to support them. Right now 40% of our national budget goes to SS, Medicare and Medicaid and these programs are all failing what they were intended for. The Dems have continually robbed SS to suit their own agendas – they have tacked so many entitlements onto the system that it can If I had been able to work and invest the money I paid in SS and Medicare taxes I would be rich and retired more than comfortably – I would also be able to purchase a really great medical plan. The government is too much in my life and I want them out of it. They need to start protecting us against terrorism, defend our borders and make us all save which is what they were supposed to do in the beginning. The States have should have the right to health care, welfare, education and other items that pertain to private people living in a sovereign state.

  • http://n/a Mark

Here is that idiot Reid in action.

Beginning on page 1,000 of the measure, Section 3403 reads in part: “. it shall not be in order in the Senate or the House of Representatives to consider any bill, resolution, amendment or conference report that would repeal or otherwise change this subsection.”

In other words, if barack hussein obama signs this measure into law, no future Senate or House will be able to change a single word of Section 3403, regardless whether future Americans or their representatives in Congress wish otherwise!!

Any gov’t control over the people is communism. These facist far left communists deserve nothing less than execution. Cocked and Locked.

    • L

The American constitution can not be amended to contradict it’s original intent, even by unconstitutional standards, which are illegal. It is tyranny! The count of illegal and unconstitutional crimes against the citizans of America, is increasing. Election day, come quickly!

      • eyewideopen

Raggs, you should watch the History channel sometimes. Monday night the showed how advanced we are in the airplanes that we have. We are in the fifth generation and shouldn’t need to upgrade until 2028. We are so far advanced it was totally unbelievable. We have laser beam weapons mounted directly on our aircraft which means we don’t need fixed “Star War” type satellites beyond the atmosphere. We have hemlets that have 360 degree visablity and our pilots are hands off in the cockpit. Very impressive. When Obama cut the funding for Star Wars it was due to our high tech capabilities which will stretch far into the future without much modification.

  • Perley

There are to many dummycrats on this page. Or is it only Norm.
The controlling party in congress has done nothing but spend money we do not have and send your grandchildren into enormous debt.
The socialist programs from this administration are going to take your and my freedom away(that includes you Norm).
The dummycrats have already destroyed our education system by not allowing the truth or should i say by rewriting history to fit there agenda.
People like Norm just don’t get what is happening in Washington.
    Have a blessed day

How long after the last Senate special election in Massachusetts was the winner of that race sworn in as a United States Senator?
One day!! Yepper…it only took one day to get his butt into office for those votes they needed!_______________________________________
When then-Senator John F. Kennedy won the presidential election of 1960, his U.S. Senate seat was filled by an interim appointee, Benjamin A. Smith, II. Senator Smith (D-MA), held the seat for two years, until JFK’s 28-year-old brother, Edward, attained the age at which he would be constitutionally eligible for the seat.
After handily beating his primary opponent on September 18, 1962, Ted Kennedy went on to win the November 6 special election against Republican George Cabot Lodge, the son of former Republican Senator and Massachusetts scion Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr. At noon the following day — November 7, 1962 — Edward Kennedy was administered the oath of office and took his seat as a United States Senator.

    • Meteorlady

Yes that’s all true and the Senate has something to gain by getting these people in fast. Now they have something to gain by not getting there in a hurry.

  • IRATEGRANDMA

The time to be most wary of the terrible trio–Reid, Pelosi and Obama–is when they are quiet. They are still meeting behind closed doors figuring out a devious way to get the Obamacare passed. The newest plan is to gather 50 votes in the house to pass the senate version (if we can believe it is the senate version–no one really knows what was in the senate version when they grabbed it and hid with it)and change it later to add in the rest of their agenda. Check about midnight the day before Obama’s state of the union address. The wording against change or repeal in the bill will be a moot point if they can use this underhanded method to get it passed.

    Be afraid. Be very afraid.

  • Meteorlady

So if they stall, then that means the people that he represents have no voice in current legislation. What a pit of vipers……

  • Robert

Hey Denniso, ooops, I mean hopeforamerica, where are you? What, no more words of wisdom? Oh, I forgot, tonight is when GOD talks to us all. You must be lighting all the candles in your home and placing rose pedals in front of the TV. Please let all us stupid people know what his REAL words of widsom are.

    • denniso

I don’t know who you are trying to talk to,but here I am.

  • http://prepaidlegal.com/hub/raisbeck Wm.

    Greetings,
As citizen, a father, and a registered Republican (conservative). I found Senetor elect Brown’s remarks about his daughters in poor taste. Had he been a Democrat I still would have found those remarks in poor taste.

  • http://prepaidlegal.com/hub/raisbeck Wm.

Obama does not determine when Congress votes. Nancy Pelosi does, and she’s crazy (in my opinion). I anticipate a vote on a watered down HC bill before Brown is seated. Nancy does not care (in my opinion) who is sacrificed – as long as the agenda moves forward.
