GOP Preemptive Fire Against Obama

GOP Preemptive Fire Against Obama

The Republican Congressional leaders may have anticipated President Barack Obama’s remarks today, especially the ones about the GOP needing to propose “a serious plan.” After all, before the President spoke today, the House Speaker and Majority Leader delivered remarks of their own.

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said: “Time and time again Republicans have offered serious proposals to cut spending and address these issues, and I think it’s time for the Democrats to get serious as well. We asked the President to lead. We asked him to put forward a plan — not a speech, a real plan — and he hasn’t. We will.”

Boehner also reiterated the GOP’s refusal to consider tax hikes. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), who many in the media believe is gunning for Boehner’s job, talked about introducing the Cut, Cap and Balance Bill, and passing the budget already approved by the House. Cantor said that the House-approved budget makes $6.2 trillion in cuts.

“As the Speaker indicated, the House put forward its budget and the House passed its budget,” Cantor said. “In the current discussions at the White House, the President and the Democrats are offering perhaps $1.5 trillion, the number keeps moving, but, perhaps. That’s a big difference. The talk, or some of the reports, have indicated that somehow, Republicans haven’t given. That is not true. We are at $6.2 trillion, and they are at $1.5 trillion, at best. That’s just the way it is.”

Typical protection of the rich from the Republican elite. Mainstream Americans want the top 2% or so to contribute more since they have benefited so much (especially in the last 10 -12 years).

    • JimH

Doc, Not raising the debt ceiling and demanding more responsible gov. spend protects “mainstream” Americans more than the top 2%.
If you can get past your petty class envy thing you would know that.
Obama claims the House hasn’t come up with a serious plan, but his just seems to be when you run out just borrow more with no limits. The is reckless, irresponsible and unsustanable.
Even if the govrnment took every nickle the top 2% have,(that isn’t theirs to take)It wouldn’t even start to pay for this debt ceiling raise.

      • s c

JimH, just ONCE I want to see the progressives, socialists, communists, fascists and assorted closet filth get together and DEMAND that their rich pals admit that they’re CAPITALISTS. Let the whole bunch (Soros, Buffet, Gates and the rest)
be treated like dirt until they release all their wealth and let it be ‘redistributed.’ THEN, people like The Anointed Bummer can have a reason to say that NOW they’ve finally unmasked ALL of the rich SOBs in America and that NOW America can be a great nation again (in their diseased minds).
You realize, of course, that such a thing will never happen because the legions of delusional parasites in America are so mentally defective that they dare to think that leftie, rich SOBs are “OK,” but the others are “BAD.” Hypocrisy is the most polite term I can think of in describing the mental defectives who want it both ways at the same time.
A pox on them. And the jackasses they rode in on, too.

        • http://?? Joe H.

          sc,
Jackasses?? I thought they rode in on snakes!!!

          • s c

Actually, snakes probably have better morals and wouldn’t associate with progressives, JoeH. As for j and his unending HYPOCRISY ['typical protection of the rich by the right' remark], NOBODY does it worse or as often as progressives and the many types of vermin who support them (jockstrappers).
We have a new type of ‘protector of the rich’ in Washington. All you need now to get ‘protected’ by people like Bummer and his criminals is a willingness to show a green face and be filthy RICH.
For example, the head wiener at GE. Between him and his CORPORATION, they’ve figured out a way to pay little or no TAXES. HOW is that possible?
Easy, actually, when you’re dealing with consummate hypocrites, there’s nothing to it. JoeH, these are the same comrades and wannabe vermin who NEVER say anything about the FED and their “protected status.” The FED [that PRIVATE CORPORATION they don't want to think about or talk about] has been all but invisible since 1913! And who protects them? Can you say the ‘other’ party and all of their prosties?
Protection of the rich by the right, eh? I’m not even talking about Kerry Poppins or Geithner. Stick it, j! When/if you can find a meaningful, honorable way to “protect” the FED or the chief wiener at GE, then we can compare notes. Otherwise, shove it, stick it or do whatever feels good, bubba. Just ONCE I want to see progressives show some GUTS and take a hard look at the HYPOCRISY they worship. JUST ONCE! Snakes deserve some sympathy, JoeH. Screw progressives.

    • s c

D [aka Mr. Hypocrite], it’s time for you to hem and haw and show us what you’re made of – and how situational ethics is the best you progressives can do. Since YOU brought up the flawed idea of ‘typical protection of the rich by the right,’ let’s chat about that [see below]. Get ready to take your deluded ideas and shove them where the old sun never shines, comrade hypocrite.

  • jopa

Obama has said repeatedly that cutting Social Security and getting rid of Medicare as in the Republican plan are off the table. Why the Republicans want to share the wealth of our senior citizens just to give a continuing tax break to the millionaires and billionaires is beyond me.Everyone knows the rich paid a few bucks just to get the tax code written in their favor and hired some mouthpieces to say it’s a good thing.I would think the senior citizens of America are more deserving because it was their blood sweat and tears that kept this country of ours so great as it is today.

    • Raggs

      Lie some more fool…

    • JimH

jopa You’re right. We should just tax those evil rich people out of existance because they had the audacity to be successful. They don’t deserve to keep what they earned when there are lazy worthless people who don’t have as much. Obama should just be given free reign to just squander all of OUR money as he wants to.(Sarcasm for those who wouldn’t get it)
Rich people hire workers and buy sevices and products that give more people an income than anything Obama will ever do.

      • Doc Sarvis

If rich people are so busy hiring the rest of us why are there so many out of work now?

        • JimH

Doc, If Obama’s plan is working so well how come all our people aren’t working now?
I said they put alot of people to work, not ALL.
They are putting more people to work than the Obama plan.
I know who hired me and I know who the clients are.

          • Doc Sarvis

I thought conservatives say that government can’t create jobs and that government should stay out of business.

          • JimH

Doc, That is exactly why Obama’s plan ISN’T putting anyone to work.

          • Doc Sarvis

            say what???

          • JimH

Doc, He just can’t seem to keep his incompetent hands out of buisness. All he has to do is leave it alone.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            Doc,
here, I’ll spell it out for you! If Obummer would stay the hell out of business and not create an air of anti-business and uncertainty in the future, then a hell of a lot more people WOULD be employed!! We gave him his stimulous that he said would stop unemployment at 8% and we are now at just shy of 10%! Where will it stop if we give him another, say, two trillion? 25%? THAT would be SO good for our nation!! IF and I mean IF you are a dr. then how you going to feel when hospitals start closing from obummercare?? Remember your oath??? What are you going to do when you can’t follow it cause they won’t let you?? Wake up Doc and smell the government, it’s rotten and slimy!!

  • Raggs

Lets NOT pass a continuation of oblamas spending spree.
I think it’s high time the crybaby got a REAL job and EARNED his own money.

  • s c

It’s the criminals in the W H who have don’t have any PLAN. The Bummer is lucky that his tongue doesn’t swell up every time he lies, or he’d have been mumbling for almost three years.
If you want a better idea as to who’s who and what’s what, read foreign news sources and look at foreign TV. If you want to know who’s making America look bad (and destroying it), look no further than the boobs in the W H.
When class warfare is the best “plan” you have, you might as well dry up and go away. Socialism doesn’t work. Communism doesn’t work. Fascism doesn’t work. As for the non-leaders in the W H (and Congress), they can’t get it through their concrete heads that none of their favorite schemes will ever work.
It’s always more crap from wannabe elite criminals who lead dupes and jock strappers to their destruction. Say ‘thanks for nothing,’ Bummer.

  • jopa

The senior citizens of America paid a much higher percentage of their income in taxes than the rich did and now the Republicans want to take what they( the senior citizens) worked for and give the rich another tax break and cut Social Security and Medicare. The wealthy average income tax is 15% for the ones that pay any at all.We only ask they pay their fair share.Thank you

    • JimH

jopa,With all the debt being built up the dollar will be devalued. Hyper inflation will demolish most peoples retirement plan’s. Retired people living on a fixed income will get less for their money, what they get in pensions and the money they saved. This reckless gov, spending will hurt retired people more than any rich person will. The rich may pay a lesser %, but they paid more money in taxes. You once mentioned you are comfortably retired. You should worry about the real threat to your lifestyle and get over your class envy thing.

  • Cawmun Cents

MARK MY WORDS….the Republicans are going to kiss asses and stab backs and claim they had no choice. The subjugation of the American citizen by the Fed will continue. The fundamental transformation will continue to occur and the citizens will go back to sleep. The debt ceiling is vaulted, meaning that the top is never easily ascertained.Everything will seem to be in order when they raise the ceiling. They(republicans)should not.If they do,refuse to vote for them.Just do not vote for a republican. For this cycle…let the Democrats wreak havoc. They obviously already are.But the REPUBS must be given no quarter if they give in to raising the debt.Take a stand.Make them pay dearly for jumping into bed with the Democratic nightmare. It is the only way we can weed out the system.Start all over and reboot.Isnt that exactly what the DEMS want?MAKE THE REPUBLICANS STAND FOR SOMETHING,NOT BUSINESS AS USUAL IN WASHINGTON!DO NOT LET THEM BETRAY YOU,AND TRY TO COME OUT UNSCATHED!They will betray you.Because you have not harshly betrated them enough for even contemplating raisng the debt limit. It is a no brainer…..no raising the debt limit….no raising the debt limit…..no raising the debt limit!-CC.

  • jopa

JimH;It’s not a matter of class envy at all it’s a matter of doing the right thing.I just don’t believe senior citizens that are vulnerable to inflation should always be the one to carry the burden for the rest of their lives so the rich can sit back in luxury because the Republicans felt they needed another tax break. The idea of the Bush tax cut creating jobs is crazy.Since Bush was in office the job growth rate was zero. This trickle down economic lie of the last ten years is not working. What is wrong with the idea of the rich paying the same tax rate as other Americans? In the end they will still have more after taxes. Why do you feel they deserve preferential treatment?

    • JimH

jopa, If you mean sinse Bush LEFT office the job grrwth rate is negative your right.
From 01 to 06 the economy was growing. The jobrate growth was growing. Your statement that under Bush the jobrate growth was zero is FALSE. that means the rest of your statement is pretty much the same.
The trickle down has been srangled and not allowed to work for the last 2.5 years. The theory is sound.
I don’t believe the seniors are “carrying the burden so the rich can live in luxury”.(not class envy?)
I feel every one should carry their “fair share”. I also believe that one should be free to keep as much as they can of what they “earned” through their hard work. Just because someone earned more than someone else doesn’t mean they don’t deserve it. I don’t feel they should get “preferential treatment”, just “fair treatment.
If I were you, I would be more concerned about inflation eating up your retirement plan, more than how much someone else gets to keep of “their own money.”
Who are you to decide how much of their money they should be allowed to have after taxes.(not class envy though, right?)

  • jopa

JimH;They the rich can keep all their money after taxes but when they do pay those taxes they should pay at the same rate as the rest of the American public.Sure they had the money to give their Congressman several thousand for their re-election in exchange for millions in personal tax exemptions and lower tax rates. What these individuals don’t pay, what I would say is their fair share the rest of the American public has to pay the differance. Now with today’s debt crisis the Republicans want to go after Social Security and Medicare to make up the shortfall in revenue that was once being collected by the government before the Bush tax cut.Just trying to be reasonable.Thank you

    • http://?? Joe H.

      jopa,
If the rich pay ANYTHING, they pay more than about 10 to 15% of the population as the takers pay NOTHING!!!! They don’t try to work, theydon’t do anything to create(except kids) and they usually consume more than their share! I suggest they do SOME work for their welfare, and if they aren’t laid off from a job and can’t support their kids, find someone that can and is willing to. I don’t mind supporting the kids, it isn’t their fault. I hate supporting a fully able bodied adult that is unwilling to work at all!!!

  • JimH

jopa, What % rate are you paying and what is the % rate that a millionaire pays. The income tax on a million dollars is around 35 to 40%. Are you paying for just federal, 40%? I’m not talking Corperations, Just private citizens.
Are the shortfalls in medicare and SS, caused be shortfalls in revenue,Or just plain poor handling of that revenue?

  • jopa

Well lets see, a while back a war was started and that wasn’t enough so another war was started.Mr. Bush that is going to cost us plenty. How are we going to pay for it?Well we could put it on a credit card lower taxes so we don’t have any more money coming in and let the next administration figure it out.And here we are today. So I guess we would have to conclude the shortfalls are due to the taxes being lowered and not paying for previous Republican programs. We could also bring up the pharmaceutical bill passed by GWB.To put the Republicans back in power is a doomsday scenario.

    • JimH

jopa, You don’t answer my questions. You don’t refute any point I’ve made. Keep trying though. Even though the republicans aren’t perfect, they still are the LESSER of two evils. If you think things are bad with Republicans in charge, just keep Dems in charge and find out what srewed up really is.
For two years we had a Dem monopoly and things didn’t get better.
You could take every nickle the rich people have and it won’t cover how much the Dems want to raise the debt ceiling, let alone the rest of the debt.(it would just make petty, jelous people feel better)
Bush hasn’t been around for 2.5 years. Obama is here NOW.
I find it strange the people who want to defend Obama can’t, they can just go back and whine about Bush. In 06 the unemployment rate was 4.4%, just before Pelosi and Reid took over. 10% isn’t an improvement. I’ll take my chances with Republicans.

    • http://?? Joe H.

jopa, don’t forget that Oblama got us involved in another war as well!!! I guess that’s different, huh??

  • jopa

JimH;Do you remember the last few weeks of Bush’s presidency when John Mccain left the campaign trail because he felt the need to go to Washington for the Bush bank bailout. That is when the USA hit the crapola and we are still suffering the repercussions.Bush may be gone but his trail of destruction is still here.Even New Orleans isn’t back to what it was, but the skies have cleared and we shouldn’t forget Katrina because she might come back under another name.I f only we could get back to the great times of the Clinton era, sigh! The Dems did screw up when they had the power for two years when they decided every vote required a super majority rather than 50-50.Their problem was that they trusted their fellow Republicans and we can see where that put them.I wouldn’t trust a Republican to put air in my tires after being exposed to the corruption of Washington.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      jopa,
would trust a dem to put air in my tires as that is something I can check and CHANGE! But I sure as hell wouldn’t let them within a country MILE of my wallet!!!!

  • JimH

jopa, I disagreed when Bush did the bailouts, and when Obama did the stimulus. 2 wrongs don’t make it right. The repercussions from the bailout were escalated by the stimulus package. That Dem congress was sure happy to give Bush that bailout money and Obama that stimulus money.
The only reason New Orleans hasn’t recover is the city leaders are Dem.’s. Even with the huge amounts of money sent there, they mismanaged it all so 4 years later they still haven’t recovered.
The reason things were good during the Clinton era was he had a Republican congress to keep him under control.
I wouldn’t trust a Democrat dog to piss on a tire.

  • rulken

Look the truth is, (whether we want to hear it or not)Congress and the Senate, are the reason we are in this financial situation. They alone control the money, not one red cent is spent without the approval of the congress, period!
The high taxes, high unemployment, high inflation, No budget, spending out of control, High gas prices, almost every stinking issue, can be directly traced back to the congress and senate. Think about it they alone hold the purse strings. Nothing gets funded with out their approval.
Okay we have a socialist traitor for a president, Impeach him! Obama isn’t performing his duties as he took an oath to do.
The president is an embarrassment to the country, we all know that by now. What the hell is congress, and the senate’s excuse?!
They have played into the hands of the lobbyist and big unions. We the people Vote not them, and we’re their constituents, and it’s high time that they start listening to what we want!

  • rulken

Speaker of the House: John Boehner; Get your house in order, stop cow towing to the minority, majority rules. Shove their faces in it if that’s what it takes. That’s why Newt Gingrich was so affective, when he said the way it was going to be that was the way it was!
Grow a set and be the speaker he was.

  • jopa

rulken: Newt was not the most popular guy after he shut down the government the last time around. It was total devastation for the Republican party and they are worried about the same thing today. In this dilemma over the debt ceiling it appears Boehner and Obama are the only adults in the room.Boehner may be the Weeper of the House but Cantor is the little crybaby.

  • jopa

Jimh: Democrat dog, that must be one of those blue dogs I keep hearing about.

    • JimH

jopa, Just keep that dog away from my tires. I just cleaned the hubcaps.
