Google Bans Sale Of Weapons

Google Bans Sale Of Weapons
You can’t buy this on Google.

This summer, Google will launch Google Shopping, which promises to be a new online shopping experience. But if you’re looking to buy guns, ammo or accessories, you’ll have to hunt elsewhere. Google won’t allow weapons or related products to be sold.

Previously known as Google Product Search, Google Shopping vows to deliver “the best answers for people searching for products and helping connect merchants with the right customers.” Companies must pay Google in order for their product to come up, but Google is making it clear that weapon suppliers are not allowed.

“We do not allow the promotion or sale of weapons and any related products such as ammunitions or accessory kits on Google Shopping. In order to comply with our new policies, please remove any weapon-related products from your data feed and then re-submit your feed in the Merchant Center,” the site said in an email to HamLund Tactical.

Google added: “Our policies are often more restrictive than the law, because we need to be sure we can offer services that are legal and safe for all users.”

There’s only one way around something so blantaly absurd, and thats just “DON’T” Use Google for any reason at all.

Any other search engine that starts up with this type of behavior, it’s the same deal for them.

    If all of them take this stance, { then we find – and or start up a “and Better Mouse Trap”}

When the cash stops flowing, the BS stops flowing TOO!

Oh My, how bloody simple is that?

    Peace and Love

    • Robert Smith

      It’s a BUSINESS!

I would think the extreme right would be applauding their initiative to run it the way THEY want to run it.

Oh well. I”ll never figure them out. Nothing seems to please them unless it’s EXACTLY their way.

Google does not pay any taxes in the USA, like Jeffie Emelts GE and other big CORPS. I boycott buying or using anythig from these tax cheats and frauds. I’m Total USA American made and if I can’t find it I go without. Untill Americans wake up we will continue this downward spiral of destruction. Google can shove it’s Corprate up its ASS as far as I”m concerned.

Rob ,, unless its thier way … What way do you consider the google way? as far left as ever

        Dear Mt. Smith,

To a point you’re correct, a business can run its self as it see’s fit.

But, again there are countless other Search Engines as I noted within my post, such as – ASK, Yahoo, Bing, Lexus etc.

        As far as Right wings or Left wings, { lets get one point straight,}
a TRUE right wing, would be “NO form of government at all.”

Thats based on the point of Pure – LOGIC, being that; 0 is nothing, yet a 10 is TOTAL Control, such as; Nazi, Communist, Socialist, Fascist etc. all of what are complete control over your life.

So the Propaganda machine noted as the “Mass Media” has Hyped people into a total state of Stupidity or Ignorance or control value.

If people could just learn this slight Twist thats been used to DIVIDE to CONQUER them – then such a person can garner much Wisdom.

        Peace and Love

TIME, how right you are. I won’t & don’t use Google and Google isn’t even in my vocabulary. They’re free to run their business as they please and I’m free to shop where I please…as you say, it’s pretty simple.

    • http://www.facebook.com/ke6ziu Aaron Freeman

My suggestion to all of you sanctimonious conservatives is this: don’t shop Google Shop! I’m a Libertarian, and I’m all about personal responsibility, but there comes a time when you have to vote with your wallet. Show Google your displeasure, and vote with your wallet… don’t purchase anything on Google Shop; duh!

      • JeffH

Aaron says “all of you sanctimonious conservatives”.
My, my, however you came to that conclusion is befuddling. Are you a sanctimonious “faux” libertarian aka a liberal? Just askin’?

What is a sanctimonious conservative anyway?

      • CZ52

“What is a sanctimonious conservative anyway?”

JeffH it is the latest buzzword for use by self rightous liberals in disguise such as Aaron F.

    • Mac

I have refused to use Google for a number of years.

  • Joseph K

Google has restricted my right to exercise my Second Amendment Rights, so I have banned Google from my PC useage. I canceled an email account, and have removed their Search Engine and other stuff like Google Earth. So much for a company in bed with a Marxist Administration; Uncle George probably owns a lot of its stock. Nothing will give me greater pleasure than doing my part to reduce Uncle George’s net worth.

Goodbye google shopping!!!!!!! It hasn’t got here yet, and when they realize how much thier losing, this story will be old news!!! Money talks and google bullsh!t will see how much money thier losing with gun advertising and change thier minds real fast. You don’t think they haven’t been checking thier hits on gun sites!!!

    • Robert Smith

Thi Tim: “and when they realize how much thier losing, this story will be old news!!! ”

Seems a little hollow to me. After all the AFA boycotted Ford because they advertized to gays. We all know how that turned out.

Ford is the healthiest of our auto makers.

      Rob

  • Greg

I’m removing all Google sites from ALL my computers and office computers. I think this policy is absurd.

  • oldbill

Interesting. I entered “guns” in Google and got 436,000,000 hits in 0.23 seconds, the first of which was “Guns for Sale, Online Auction.” So, this applies to Google Sales only? To sell guns and ammo, a company has to have an FFL. Most online sales companies don’t want to fool with something that requires an instate license and retail outlet to distribute the product. I don’t buy much through Google sales. Sometimes, there is something I want and the vendor clears through Google sales. I hope they are more fraud resistant than Paypal. Ebay doesn’t allow gun sales. I don’t think Craigs list does either. Where have you people been the last twenty-five years? I’m still using primers for reloading that I bought before the Brady Bill took effect. Unless you are a teeny bopper, you should have long since stocked up on guns and ammo.

    • http://Google Mike

“I got mine”. I too saw the handwriting on the wall and stocked up prior to the Brady Bill. The positive side of all this is that Google has shown us that they are in league with the “enemy”. So let your consumer dollars be your editorial voice.

      • Robert Smith

Hmmmmm, wasn’t James Brady a REPUBLICAN?

Interesting how he got shot in the head and it was his wife who suffered the brain damage.

So we can buy things loaded with BPA (anything plastic), and water products flooded with fluoride, not to mention what wonderful things for China we can buy, but we can’t purchase anti-tyranny implements? Government has killed hundreds of millions in the last century alone, Google. please “don’t be evil” and lets us buy a means to help with a leading cause of death, aka democide or death by your own government.

That would grrreeeeeaaaattt Google. Remember, don’t be evil.

  • Steve E

See you Google, There is better competition out there. Hope your stock value drops like a rock, and you don’t get a government bailout.

  • http://crabbypete11029@hotmail.com Paul R. Wiley Jr.

    BIG MISTEAK GOOGLE????

  • Steve

Google is a business. If the government stays out of the way Google can run their business anyway they see fit. You don’t have to use it (DuckDuckGo works).

Gun Auction or Buds Gun Shop all the way.

  • Breeze

I will not use, or buy anything from any advertiser on Google.

  • Daveh234

Online gun buying can be done through all kinds of other sources. Doesn’t bother me I can’t do it through Google directly.
Don’t you have to pick it up at a local store anyway?
I’ll look at the store myself and work my best deal. Keep it local.

  • Hedgehog

Why is Google going out of business? If they are refusing to sell weapons and weapon related items, then they have no reason to exist. The greatest weapon available to humanity is information. I thought Google was in business to sell information. If they are not selling “information/weapons”, then what are they selling?

  • http://peresonallibertydigest.. gottaplenty

Best solution to any thing you disagree with is to completely quit using and ignore ,,,, such as Obubber care.

  • chester

Hedgehog, have you really thought about what you are saying? Google isn’t restricting who can sell guns, only who can list on their Google Buys. I can see their reasoning behind this, as can anyone watching the Holder saga go down. Who wants to be accused, by either side, or a houseful of attorneys, of helping expedite illegal gun sales? By not accepting PAID advertising for firearms and components, they are practicing safe politics. Call it CYA, or more politely, self protection, as that IS what it is.

    • Hedgehog

      Hi Chester:
I’ve thought it through, obviously Google hasn’t. They are talking of refusing to list weapons and weapons related item sales. This would have to include all information on weapons! As almost anything can be used as a weapon, what are they going to be able to list? Any publication that mentions weapons would be taboo, such as: murder mysteries and suspense novels, etc. Nor would they be able to list certain US government publications, such as: TM 31-210 (Improvised Munitions Handbook). Common items such as car batteries could not be list due to the fact that they contain sulfuric acid, which can be used as a weapon. I could go on listing items all day, but why bother? You can see where I’m going. Had Google confined themselves to not listing guns, and gun related items they might have run afoul of your 1st and 2nd amendments, maybe not, I don’t know. They will not abolish weapons or even guns by refusing to list them and related items for sale any more than the Victorians abolished sex by refusing to mention it! Google has a right to refuse to list for sale any item they object to, but they might have picked something less all pervasive than weapons!

Please people dump Google and I mean all of it E-mail, search, chrome etc. I did and don’t miss it and on top of that not more unwarranted tracking. Put the Bas*ards out of business.

I have not used Google, Chrome E-mail for years and have not missed it. I quite using because of the tracking issues.

    • Ron

That was supposed to say ” Chrome or E-mail. The current sales limitation is just one additional reason to not even consider using Google.
