Golden Eagles Found Dead At Wind Farm

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 16 (UPI) — The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service says it is investigating the deaths of two federally protected golden eagles at a California wind farm.

The two eagles were discovered Sunday, the Los Angeles Times reported.

A total of eight eagles have been found dead at the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power’s Pine Tree wind farm, located 100 miles north of Los Angeles in the Tehachapi Mountains, the newspaper said.

Federal wildlife officials said the first six eagles were struck by blades from the turbines at the wind farm, which features 90 turbines spread across 8,000 acres.

The utility says it is trying to mitigate risks to golden eagles that have a difficult time maneuvering through fields of wind turbine blades spinning as fast as 200 mph.

Critics are calling for a redesign of the turbine network and calling for a moratorium on construction of nearby wind farms, the newspaper said.

You know, I find it amasing that everyone thinks wind power is free. Anyone with a high school degree learned that energy is neither created or destroyed . . . it is only changed. All those turbines pulling energy out of the winds that are headed to far away places is certainly having a significant affect on downstream environmental conditions and yet NOBODY is reporting on the effects.
Where are all the treehuggers, all the greenees, all the studies on the environment? No energy is free! Turbines WILL take their toll and more than on just the eagles.

If we apply utopian logic, that wind farm must be CLOSED.
Maybe they’ll find a solution in the distant future, but since greenies and tree-huggers and similar kookoids defy reason and common sense, it might be best that they give up on wind farms.
Let us do the obvious, people, and MAKE America OIL INDEPENDENT AND TELL Congress AND THE White House to —– THEMSELVES. Sell electric cars to China.
Hybrid technology will still be on the drawing board when America is a 3rd world country and on its knees because of utopian back-stabbers and their robots.
