Gingrich’s Record On Healthcare Worse Than Even Romney’s

Possible 2012 Presidential candidate Mitt Romney has a lot of explaining to do to conservatives when it comes to his history with healthcare. He is even set to give a speech about it on Thursday. He will outline a plan to “repeal and replace Obamacare.”

However, according to a Huffington Post article posted today, when it comes to healthcare, conservatives should be more concerned about Newt Gingrich.

The article details how Gingrich has been one of the most ardent supporters of the so-called “individual mandate” — a controversial part of proposed healthcare reform which would require everyone to buy health insurance.

For example, the article quotes Gingrich’s 2005 book “Winning the Future,” in which he wrote: “You have the right to be part of the lowest-cost insurance pool, and you have a responsibility to buy insurance… We need some significant changes to ensure that every American is insured, but we should make it clear that a 21st Century Intelligent System requires everyone to participate in the insurance system.”

Although Gingrich has criticized Obamacare, calling it “madness” and “indefensible,” his past statements put his actual position in doubt, the article said.

“(Gingrich’s) vision of healthcare reform seems drawn from the same philosophical threads as the plan that President (Barack) Obama signed last spring.”

I hate to badmouth Newt Gingrich. He was a great leader in taking back Congress and defeating the Democraps in 1994, and would’ve been a great candidate for POTUS in 1996 as opposed to Bob Dole. More recently though, I’m not sure. Like many people, I am disappointed with Newt Gingrich and must say I will not vote for him in a primary (although I will vote for any GOP nominee in November as a vote against Obama). Is it possible Gingrich may be getting senile, like Barry Goldwater in his final years of retirement?? E.g., he seemed to be going along with Nazi Pelosi on the global warming scam. What we really need is a solid conservative who will stand up and say “NO” to the flat earth no growth environmentalist wacko marxists, and better yet, one who wants to eliminate the EPA. And now we see Newt is sounding like Mitt-nitwit Romney by favoring unconstitutional mandates to buy insurance. Now, how can Nitwit Romney or Gingrich really debate BHO on the issue of Obummercare if they all support what was a primary reason Obummercare was ruled unconstitutional??
