Former NPR Executive Blasts Tea Party, Dismisses Government Funding

March 11, 2011 by

Former NPR executive blasts Tea Party, dismisses government fundingRepublican and Democratic lawmakers have tussled over a GOP-backed spending bill that, if approved, would cut Federal funding for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB). However, in a new video, a former executive of National Public Radio (NPR) claims that the media outlet would be better off without government support.

An undercover video of Ron Schiller, the former president of the NPR Foundation and senior VP for Development, was released by conservative activist James O'Keefe on March 8. The footage shows Schiller calling the Tea Party a "xenophobic" group that consists of "seriously racist people." He added that NPR would gain more independence if Federal aid was slashed.

According to media reports, Schiller had already announced his intention to resign before his comments and was expected to leave the organization in May. Shortly after the video went public, NPR denounced Schiller's statements and placed him on administrative leave. On March 9, NPR CEO Vivian Schiller — who is not related to Ron — formally resigned from her post amidst the scandal.

Still reeling from the controversy surrounding the termination of former commentator Juan Williams, NPR is facing the ire of Congressional Republicans. The video of Schiller has fueled arguments that funding should be pulled for CPB, which provides support for NPR and PBS.

"Not only have top public broadcasting executives finally admitted that they do not need taxpayer dollars to survive, it is also clear that without Federal funds, public broadcasting stations self-admittedly would become eligible for more private dollars on top of the multi-million dollar donations these organizations already receive," House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.) said in a statement.

The ballots are in. The votes have been counted. Schiller is a disgusting, paranoid poser whose stupidity is in a league of its own. Any
real journalist (CEO, whatever the frick he is) worth his or her salt wouldn’t claim that any group was made up of “seriously racist people” unless research and documentation was done first.
And then there’s Schiller. He’s so typical of the
SOBs who make America’s media the gang of pukes it’s been for so many years. No wonder normal people are sickened by pond scum like Schiller.
Without a doubt, Schiller will be viewed by Obummer as prime czar material. After that, he’ll surely get an academy award or a Nobel Peace Prize. Can you say integrity for sale?

    • Jovianus

A “former’ exec who was ousted makes comments (actually, I agree with the “xenophobic” and “racist’ observatios…heck, this forum here provides ample evidence that those descrptions have some merit).

Now the neo cons are seeing that as yet another bit of proof their stranglehld on the media feeds has a hole in it. Thus..they want it gone since it wo’t kowtow to their propaganda needs…which is feed the public lies and distrotions of the truth.

      • TIME

        Jo VI Annus,

Put down the Crack Pipe for a while you may be able to think some if that rot on your brain stops.

      • sylviam

Excuse me!!!! I am one of those TEA PARTIERS, and I am NOT a RACIST nor any thing that you can call a HYPOCRITE, I think a person should be JUDGED by God or “his” or “her” peers but most assuridly not by RACE CREED or COLOR. It is what is in a persons heart that counts, and NOT just because people like you say so.
        GOD BLESS AMERICA

        • Jovianus

Must have been a different public meeting with my Congressman than you were at. Must have been someone else packing armor at public forums. Must have been someone else stating wild unreasonable policies. Must have been someone else talking about undocumented workers. Must have been someone else when referring to the issues on the WTC and mosque land use issue. Must have been someone else forwading corporate and wealthy interests over that of the average American. Must have been someone else insisting the Christian religion is the only one we should have in this country.

          Heck…talk about ignoring reality.

          • http://naver samurai

Get off of the kool aid, moron! With all your rantings on this site, you lack the normal humans ability to think about facts and sources. What is your major malfunction? FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

          • Vigilant

            Jovi Anus:

“Must have been a different public meeting with my Congressman than you were at.”

Yes, raising the decibel level because people are frustrated with the cavalier attitudes and “out-for-me-only” mentality of politicians is just plain un-American, isn’t it? Now, you want to talk about property damage and violence. let’s just look at Wisconsin.

“Must have been someone else packing armor at public forums.”

It was only one public forum, it was a black man, and he was perfectly within his legal rights to carry a weapon. Was anyone shot?

“Must have been someone else stating wild unreasonable policies.”

You mean like restoring the Constitution of the USA to its rightful place as the Law of the Land? Or do you prefer the UN Charter…or the Communist Manifesto?

“Must have been someone else talking about undocumented workers.”

LOL! Calling them “Undocumented workers” is like calling drug dealers “unlicensed pharmacists.” What part of “illegal” are you having trouble with?

“Must have been someone else when referring to the issues on the WTC and mosque land use issue.”

Which, you conveniently fail to mention, never dealt with their Constitutional right to build it. It was about sensitivity and decency to the living and dead, something about which the left knows nothing.

“Must have been someone else forwading [sic] corporate and wealthy interests over that of the average American.”

Definitely someone else. Tea Partiers are not NeoCons, are not now, and never were. Your particular labeling is called “false advertising.”

“Must have been someone else insisting the Christian religion is the only one we should have in this country.”

Yes, you got that right. It WAS someone else. If you can cite just ONE quote to back up your false contention, let’s have it.

            Heck…talk about ignoring the truth.

          • JeffH

Vigilant, Thank You for you honest, accurate and candid rebuttle to one of the board commies. I do enjoy it, great job!

          • JeffH

fast eddie, do I detect a little bit of jealousy in your “voice”?

Just for you eddie…definition of slander:

            slan·der [ slándər ]
saying of something false and damaging: the act or offense of saying something false or malicious that damages somebody’s reputation

false and damaging statement: a false and malicious statement that damages somebody’s reputation

utter slander against somebody: to make a false and malicious oral statement about somebody

            comprende?

          • JeffH

Oh eddie, this is straight out of the Urban Dictionary…

            commie
Anybody who has ideals that are similar to that of the communists.
Beaver: Gee wally, that Eddie sure is a commie douche-bag.
Wally: Yeah, I guess you’re right Beav.

          • Eddie47d

Jeff; I know you will slander people until your dying breath so I know it is a waste of time to tell you differently. You have a cold and delusional heart that I can’t mend.

          • JeffH

eddie, delusional? That is a rhetorical accusation by you liberals that clearly defines your liberals minds.

Delusions are pathological beliefs which persist despite clear evidence that they are actually false. They can vary widely in content, but are always characterized by the absolute certainty with which they are held. Such beliefs reflect an abnormality of thought processes; they are often bizarre and completely unrelated to conventional cultural or religious belief systems, or to the level of intelligence of the person suffering from them.

I’m also led to beieve, based on your many false comments that you also suffer from a chronic case of confabulation, which really helps to explain your pathalogical illnesses.

This, dear eddie, describes yourself and your like thinking cohorts to a “tee”!

            Nuff said!

Best to consider the source before you respond. Jovi Anus is nothing more than a provocateur who comes on this site to get reactions. Everyone knows (including the leftists) that TP members are not racist. The paltry lack of facts to assert their case always results in the idiots playing a race card to cause a shutdown of reasonable discourse.

The ultimate stupidity of the left is such that they don’t realize the race card is seen for what it is, and it no longer stifles the discourse.

      • barbm

if you were part of the tea party, you’d know that there are people from all races in our groups. san antonio elected a hispanic as our leader not long ago, and he’s doing a fabulous job of bringing more hispanics to our cause. we already have a pretty decent sized black membership. in san antonio, we are 50% hispanic and 25% each anglo and black. one must account for the HUGE illegal alien population here, so i doubt we’ll ever get 50% hispanic representation since the illegals aren’t really welcome. has nothing to do with their race, has everything to do with their being criminals.

        • Jana

          sylvian and barbm,
jovi is a perfect example of the MEAN SPIRITED (take your pick) leftist, liberal, Socialist, Communist wannabe, Democrat. He is like those Union goons and thugs that were sent in to agitate the demonstrations in Wisconsin.
When he stated: “(actually, I agree with the “xenophobic” and “racist’ observatios…heck, this forum here provides ample evidence that those descrptions have some merit).”, he just labeled himself. He is the “xenophobic” and “racist”. jove is a prime example of someone who thinks he is smarter than everyone else. However, we read what he has to say and know is just not that smart.

        • http://?? Joe H.

          barbm,

          • Vigilant

Nor do they have an ability to think.

            They are also devious liars.

Jovi Anus spouts the insidious philosophy of the communist party, day in and day out, but when called on it is so loud to disclaim his true sentiments. The subterfuge, propaganda, and prevarication of the left is, and always has been, undeniable.

          • Jana

Exactly, and there is nothing more

          • Jana

Well, it sent it on before I was even finished???
I was going to say, there is nothing more MEAN SPIRITED than a liar, or a person that twists the truth.
Actually, they are past being just mean spirited, they are devious. They do remind me of the unions goons and thugs we see bullying their way in and running over the citizens that we saw that were peacefully demonstrating.

          • http://naver samurai

Jana, good job fellow patriot! They’re just p.o’d because they have, once again, been exposed for what they really are. Just a bunch of cowards and traitors. 하나님 하고 나라를 위해서! FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

        sc,
        You are so right.
The one thing I have noticed that comes from these MEAN SPIRITED leftists, MEAN SPIRITED, Socialists, MEAN SPIRITED Democrats, is how they think they are smarter than everyone else (esp. Christians, Republicans, Libertarians, and middle America). We are just a bunch of people out here that are ignorant and cannot run our own lives without their supposed wisdom. They would try to FORCE us to do what they want, and they want to change our country into what they think it should be.
The only problem is, we are not only a lot smarter than they think, we are wiser than the know, and we are aware of their lies and deceptions and tricks that they try to use against WE THE PEOPLE.
God allows the lies told in secret to become public knowledge.
It is past time to stop a lot of these fundings of Public Broadcasting. All of them. If the public doesn’t support them through their donations, and advertisements then maybe they shouldn’t be on the air.
I have noticed the only time on Public Television they actually put on shows that I am interested in is during their fund raisings special programming.

        • Teresa

The problem w/the Left, Unions, Media, Corp. & Gov. puppets…they are angry because they have thought for far too long themselves superior to “us”. They are so use to stealing, lying, cheating, corruption that it has angered them so much that they can NOT provoke us, WE THE PEOPLE into “their” revolt so they had to start it themselves. Yea they will try their lies as usual….oh you started a war w/by passing the law or some other ridiculous outcome, but it will always emerge the TRUTH. Stand firm, for things will only get worse from here!

SCOTUS U.S. vs. Butler ruled that the Constitution has NEVER been understood to mean that Government can take money from one group and give it to another. The court went on to rule that when money is expended under the general welfare clause that it MUST benefit all americans equally. President Washington in his farewell to the nation letter, tried to warn us about liberals when he said to not userp the constitution. he said that when we change the Constitution to do it correctly with the amendment because those that will change the constitution illegally will say that it is acceptable as what they are doing is GOOD but that this is the tool by which Democracies are destroyed.

    • Eddie47d

I can just see George Washington sitting around the fire lambasting Liberals. Not! Where do you come up with this stuff? I’m glad you did bring up the General Welfare Clause.Where everything has to benefit all Americans equally. That would mean the Affordable Healthcare Act should be a slam dunk. Whether you like it or not it’s purpose is to benefit all Americans equally. Thanks Howard!

      • newspooner

The Constitution was a noble and partially effective attempt to codify the principles of limited government. There are only two choices: limited government or unlimited government. For centuries, evil people (royalty, nobility, etc) stole from the common person by the use of unlimited government (monarchy, military, force, etc). It was serfdom and slavery. Then the American Revolution succeeded in establishing a form of limited government. The commuthieves and cividolatrists have been trying (quite succesffully for the most part) to obliterate that attempt and have unlimited government reign here also. Ther is never any justification for stealing (forcibly or via “law”) from some to give to others. This is especially egregious when those who are receiving some of the largess do not even realize that they are surrendering their liberties for the handouts. Obamacare and all other “laws” that violate these principles are communism, evil plain and simple. Unlimited government is tyranny.

        • Eddie47d

Unlimited government is worth the debate and must be kept in check. Unlimited and unregulated Capitalism must also be kept in check. The capitalists have become evil themselves and that is pure and simple. Dave H. likes to say “when government grows corruption flows” and that seems to be a true statement. As the last meltdown has shown us the same is true with Capitalism. When Capitalism grows corruption flows. Dave H. also likes to say that is only “crony capitalism”. That brings us back to government where government is good but the bad parts are only “crony government”. Instead of cutting out the cancer in both entities we lambast one or the other. It solves nothing and only causes that cancer to entrench itself.

          • newspooner

“Unlimited capitalism”, meaning monopoly, can only exist with the enabling of government. Government sustains monopolies by making laws. Monopolies disappear when people are free to cleverly compete against them. They are only restricted from competing against them by the “law” and force of government. One only needs to look at the example of labor unions. Unions are good, but only when they are voluntary. When government prevents or mandates union membership for individuals, unions very quickly became forces working against liberty.

          • http://naver samurai

If you have a government that robs Peter to pay Paul, they’ll always get the support of Paul. George Bernard Shaw. Think about what is going on now edduh. Obamacare is a direct violation of the Commerse Clause of the same Constitution. The Commerce Clause trumps your arguement very soundly. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

          • Eddie47d

The Commerce Clause hardly trumps this issue soundly and I’ve heard it used in favor of it. Once again I’m not your edduh!Mr name caller.

          • Vigilant

Eddie, the courts have ruled that the Commerce Clause cannot be used to substantiate Obamacare. This was a real downer for Holder & Co., because the only argument they had left was to base this theft on the taxing power of government. Talk about hypocrisy (“I will not raise your taxes by one dime.” – Obama)

          • http://Illinois'17th Old Henry

With very limited government the corruption factor is drastically reduced due to “no place to hide”. So, that would essentially elimintae corruption into government from a huge capitalist sector.

The capitalist sector is what makes / made this nation great, not large government.

DUH! JoeH has doesn’t have a choice and neither do you.

Medicare is somewhat mandatory for people who may have employer base insurance or who may be self employed themselves.

A lot of people are not happy with the fact that Medicare is mandatory. The fact that Medicare enrollment is mandatory is something that people have had to live with for decades. There are many people out there who are not surprised by the amount of Medicare mandates there are out there. Some of these Medicare mandates may make it harder for private insurance companies to stay in business as people forget about other insurance options.
            http://www.seniorcorps.org/medicare/is-medicare-mandatory-if-i-have-other-insurance/

If those famous private insurance company hadn’t raked in so much in profits (United Healthcare) there would have been better choices. The business side got filthy rich while the owners of the policies got gouged. Go ask the folks who got dumped off of those policies and see how wonderful they were. How soon we forget their past sins.

          • JeffH

eddie and the liberals should form a new party…called the Party of Envy! Oh, sorry, there already is a couple of parties like that…The Democratic Socialists of America which, prior to the 2010 mid-terms, had 70 members in the 110th Congress and 11(socialist Dems)of the 23 Democrats sitting on the Judiciary Committee.

What are the seven principles behind what the DSA’s calls it’s “Progressive Challenge?”
            Dignified Work
            Environmental Justice
            Economic Redistribution
            Democratic Participation
            Community Empowerment
            Global Non-Violence
            Social Justice
            Source: Congressional Progressive Caucus

Who could leave out the Communist party…or it’s spin-off organization which has become involved in the modern-day movement known as “Progressives for Obama”. The Communists call them “sympathizers,” “fellow travelers,” “left-wingers,” and “useful idiots.

No sir, he and the Founders would have laughed them out of the room!

        • Eddie47d

Thomas Jefferson was Liberal on many issues so I doubt that.

          • Jana

            Eddie,
Liberalism used to be a good and noble action. It has been perverted and distorted into what it is today, Socialism (which is what we have gone to war to fight against in this country) and Socialism is one step down from Communism.

          • http://naver samurai

The liberals then are way different than the ones today. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

  • Bill W

The Feds should defund NPR now. Let them compete on the open market and we will see if they can survive.

    • Eddie47d

Everyone out there wants to have their own little Watergates. They all want their 15 minutes of fame to see if they can topple a President,a Governor,a business or a Country. You have Manning exposing the misdeeds of government. O’keefe plotting against Acorn, that guy in Wisconsin imitating one of the Koch Brothers,O’Keefe trying to break into Mary Landrieu’s office, O’Keefe again pulling a fast one on NPR. That James O’Keefe is a busy man! How good is this all for the well being of our country? Should we encourage exposing misdeeds and taping persons conversations? Are these people playing big brother using somewhat criminal means or are they heros? Acorn was destroyed and Gov. Walker is now facing a recall for what was divulged in that conversation. The tangled Web’s we weave!

      • Jana

        Eddie,
You just wish there would be a recall. The whole country is applauding him. Its about time something finally came out right for the good of our country, and for the good of Wisconsin.

        • Jana

Praise the Lord for men such as James O’Keefe!!!

Of course its all right for the leftists to lie or trick someone such as the one posing as one of the Koch Brothers calling Gov. Walker to trick him. He was the Liberal/Communist hero. The only problem is, it didn’t work because the Gov. happened to be one of the good guys who wouldn’t use the rotten tactics of the unions.

          • Eddie47d

The whole country is not applauding Walker for he stirred up a hornet’s nest. He lied and that will hang around his neck at least until the next election. He had a right to demand a balanced budget but it wasn’t very honest or equal for the State of Wisconsin. That wasn’t even my point and I don’t think that conversation with “Koch” should have happened. Yet you defend O’Keefe’s shenanigans . You are just another right winger defending your turf instead of the truth. If your side does it it is okay. Some on this site said it will be the government spying on us and our rights will be taken away. Maybe so yet as I pointed out it is our fellow citizens who are doing the spying. Do you want your private conversations recorded? Do you want your bank records exposed to your neighbors? If computers can be hacked and anonymous people can record your conversations will you accept that? That is what O’Keefe and others are doing and you applaud him.Be careful what you say at the next BBQ it may be on the National News. You may get what you think is okay that others are doing. That is the Big Brother!

          • http://?? Joe H.

            eddie,
you decry all these attempts to expose corruption as being bad for this country. Did you say the same thing during Watergate???Bet you applauded the reporters that exposed Nixon on that!!!

          • http://deleted Claire

According to my Wisconsin relatives, people are working fast and furious getting signatures for recalls. Supposedly they are working to recall 8 Republican Senators. This mess isn’t over yet. This could go on for a long time.

          • Denno

The governor, senators and assemblymen must be in office for at least ONE YEAR before recall attempts can be made. Maybe if the slugs that are trying this would brush up on their local civics lessons, they’d know that. Then again, the recall advocates are probably part of the mob imported from out of the state. The first “recall” targets should be those mutts that cowardly fled the state and hid like a bunch of worms in the ground. The reason there weren’t any counter demonstrators contributing to the fiasco was because they were all at WORK.

          • Eddie47d

Joe; Exposing Watergate was exposing corruption and at the highest level of government. I said I didn’t like the Koch conversation recorded because it sets a bad precedence. You never seem to really pay attention to what someone says. You only respond with negative connotations. I wasn’t against O’Keefe exposing Acorn but it was a minor incident and the Republicans used it to destroy a whole organization. Did you approve of O’Keefe trying to break into Mary Landrieu’s office? He is no hero and should have been put in jail for that one. Manning could face life in prison and O’Keefe is running free. Is there a double standard in favor of a Republican?

          • Jana

            eddie,
If there is a double standard in favor of Republicans it would be the first time.
ACORN needed to be taken down. As if they have really been stopped. They are still active just under a different name.
NPR was willing to accept donations from the Muslim Brotherhood, a terrorist organization. YES, they did need to be outed for that. They also bragged that they were a neutral organization, and they are not. This was just proof.
I know this is sour grapes to the poor liberals. I am sorry if this hurt your feelings, but I am glad that this has been made public at the right time.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            eddie,
ACORN was a MINOR incident?!?!? They were receiving government money big time, and promoting child prostitution and not just at that one office either like they tried to state. they were trying to intimidate voters, Even went as far as to tell people that they couldn’t register that day as they were only taking democrate registrations on the day in question!! That was exposed in Cleveland Ohio!! When it comes to the things that ACORN was, there isn’t anything called “minor”!!!

          • Eddie47d

Now it’s “Child Prostitution” Spin away you seekers of “truth”. You have a long way to go with your stack of lies.

          • http://?? Joe H.

            eddie,
Just what the hell do YOU call attempting to give advice to a person on setting up a tax shelter and other benefits for a man and woman perporting to have underage kids having sex for money??? Isn’t underage kids having sex for money child prostitution in your gathering? If not, keep the hell away from my grandchildren!!

          • Eddie47d

That was an isolated incident and should have been handled on the local level. You turn everything into a National Circus. You must be afraid of your own shadow with your wild accusations.

          • http://naver samurai

Good points Joe H! That also reminds me of a recent event exposing planned parenthood and their sex trafficing at their offices in New York, New Jersey, and Virginia. Quite honestly, I don’t remember anything in the Constitution about federally funding any kind of media. All you libbies who want state-run media can move to a place where they do have it Like, say,Iran. NPR needs govrnment funding is that it can’t make it on it’s own. This country is about free enterprise, not redistribution of wealth and if you don’t like it we would all be glad to chip in and buy you a one-way ticket to the socialist/totalitarian state of your choice. That’s much like this “Green energy” crap that is also being propped up by this regime (all based on a hoax, by the way.

    • Ted Crawford

I think that Thomas Jeffersons words apply to both cases you brought up Tom. “It is error alone which needs the support of Government. Truth can stand by itself”

        “A democracy is always temporary in nature;
it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.
A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover
that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.
From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates
who promise the most benefits from the public treasury,
with the result that every democracy will finally collapse
due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship”

    To Eddie47
The affordable health act does not benefit all americans EQUALLY. For starters a majority of us already have health insurance which we pay for. Under Obama care,we will by necissity have to pay more to cover those that will pay little to nothing. I hate to break it to you but that is considered to be taking from one group to give to another. The only people that benefit are those that get something for nothing. and pleasae do not hand me the liberal B.S. by saying that “doesen’t helping the poor benefit all of us.” the answer is a resounding NO. it only helps those that receive the money that other people sweat for.

If you would take the time to read Washingtons farewell address you would see that he said exactly what I have pointed out. your are right though, the bpeople he was referring to were not calleed liberals then the title for the group he was referring to did not get the title until the early nineteen twenties.

  • Mike

I love how liberals attack the Tea Party… instead of healthy debate about real issues they resort to the race card. The Tea Party is not an exclusive club. Any american is free to support it, and it’s charter is quite simple: reduced government and debt, fiscal responsibility, the constition.

This type of attack is the refuge of the ignorant. It’s a convenient fallback position for those unable or unwilling to defend their positions with facts.

    • Eddie47d

I agree that Schiller should be shelved for saying what he did about the Tea Party. Maybe that was a last hurrah for him since he was leaving anyway and leaving the damage for someone else to clean up. Big mouths can sink ships too. Maybe Gov Walker should resign also for his disparaging remarks about unions and his unsavory intentions. There are alot of untruths thrown around and Americans love opening their mouths before engaging brain. I’m guilty of that too on occasion.

    • Jovianus

You have got to be kiddiing. The Tea party’s reputation is earned and deserved. packing guns to public forums, supporting wacked out candidiates with wild views based in fanatsy land and totally unrealistic and disconnected from any rational reasoning, violent and harassing, insultng, and denigrating.

The Tea party has a reputation as a group of nutcases because they’ve earned it. It is what it is …

Can you imagine the outcry from the left if Tea Party members behaved like those dolts in Wisconsin?? Wait til the damage and cleanup reports come in for the actions of the mob. Lefty-libs can’t honestly debate a subject so they always resort to personal attacks. Then, like the bullies that they are, they cry and beef when someone strikes back in kind. I remember lots of people like them, but that was in grammar school. Most of them grew up, but as we can see, some never do.

        • Jana

          Denno,
You are so right. We would never hear the end of it. The lefties try to make up things about the Conservatives and the Tea Party-ers, they think if they lie often enough it will stick. The truth is a might sword however, and it just frustrates them to no end because the Tea Party people are just clean, decent, nice people.

AMAZING…Once everyone understands that it is fine to have your own opinion but calling the people with an opposite view varying names and slandering them is evidence of your own stupidity. A Tea Party Supporter is not collectively Racist, although most assuredly there will be some. And the same can be said for liberals. A Liberal LOVES to call Tea Party supporters racist freely and I can only assume it is because they can’t find a real valid reason to support their own liberal views … so … call a vile name and hope it deflects the reason for the discussion.
I try hard to listen to Chris Matthews who I used to think was a pretty fair guy…he has turned into a name calling pompous man who can’t make a fair comment if it isn’t within his own liberal views. Giving the name Tea Baggers is trying to diminish a group of people whose values are on the whole pure.
I don’t like hearing liberal groups called names either…it makes fools of all of us.
Grow up…have the discussion…agree to disagree and be adults about it.

  • JeffH

My hat is off to Andrew Brietbart and James O’Keefe and the great service they are doing for Americans to expose at every opportunity the sick and twisted leftist liberal deceptions. Yeah, he buries them at every turn of his hidden camera and microphone and they just don’t like getting caught. If these liberal commies were as smart as they so often remind everyone they wouldn’t bite the bait. Ahhh but it is true…Stupid is as stupid does!

      • JeffH

Yes Jana. I will add the Media Research Center and Brent Bozell to the group of great American’s exposing the lies in the left wing media and leftist groups. The leftwing media just doesn’t stop with their rhetoric and are still continueing to lobby for NPR. More and more American’s “wake up” everyday to the bias and lies of the left.

I don’t think everyone on this site buys your slick attacks and labeling or your misinformation. We “liberals” know we are the minority here and let’s face it the majority usually wins. That just makes you the “school yard” bully who loves to stiffle someone elses opinion. I don’t mind standing up to you bullies and won’t run from a few losses. I may be cheap but I’m not easy.

          • JeffH

eddie, I’d say you take your lumps like a man, but you don’t! Cheap? Yeah, you are cheap! Many, many moons ago you started taking cheap shots at everyone you could, including myself. Well, how does it feel to get knocked down regularly on this website, by everyone. It wouldn’t be so bad on you except that you haven’t learned why you get the responses you do. You generally initiate the attacks, and you eddie, generally initiate the name calling. Everytime someone says something you don’t like or bad mouths the liberals you make it a point to respond, even when you’re not in the conversation. You butt in, make demands and constantly contradict yourself. You, eddie, are the epitamy of a hypoctite…and wear the label well. You’ve earned all of the disparaging remarks you receive. Why? Because you asked for it. You want to voice your opinion? Fine, do it! You want to accuse people of being liars and spreading propaganda, do it! But you don’t, you either call them names, cuss, or run and hide. That’s what you do eddie. That is a fact eddie! You don’t like it then stop with your grade school antics and be a man…don’t attack and don’t use your potty mouth and most of all…quit being stupid. You just might be surprised at the outcome. As some people have said, there are facts and then there are the “Eddie Factoids”. Unfortunately, this is just your way of garnering a little attention. Good lord, it must be tough being YOU!

          • JeffH

…as for being easy? Yeah, eddie, you’ve made it too easy! As for your “bully” remark…take a peek in the mirror, hypocrite…you and your type bullying never did like it when someone stands up to you and gives it back to you 10 fold. How’s it feel?

          • Eddie47d

Clueless as always Jeff.Always, always ,always accusing someone of the things you do. Get over yourself and admit your mistakes in life and stop being such an arrogant troll. Be honest for a change and stop calling people names without knowing anything about their personal life.Stop playing the commie card for that is a CHEAP shot. Stop saying you call them as you see them because you are ASSUMING and seem to be wrong too many times. That does make you the bully. Accept different opinions without the personal attacks. Tell them they have an immoral view or their comments are cruel and yes if they are a liar and you can prove it let them have it. You just throw commie or nazi around to incite people so you are the one who needs to visit the mirror. I told SC off yesterday because she lied through her teeth. So there are a few Conservatives/Republicans out there that are shameful and embarrassing. 141 and patrick make “your side looks pretty bad and every so often a Liberal smarts off. Considering that Liberals are in a small minority here (and keep coming back) means our skins are tough enough.

So eddie if you wont mind then I’ll through this in here,
An old Social Security card with the “NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION” message.
            Our Social Security

Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social Security (FICA)
            Program. He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be Completely voluntary,

            No longer Voluntary.

2.) That the participants would only have to pay 1% of the first $1,400
of their annual Incomes into the Program,

Now 7.65% on the first $90,000.

3.) That the money the participants elected to put into the Program would
be deductible from their income for tax purposes each year,

            No longer tax deductible.

4.) That the money the participants put in would go to an ‘independent
‘Trust Fund’ rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore,
would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program, and no
            other Government program, and

Under president Johnson the money was moved to The General Fund and
            Spent.

5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as
            income.

Under Clinton & Gore Up to 85% of your Social Security can be Taxed.

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a
Social Security check every month –
and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to
the Federal government to ‘put away’ –
you may be interested in the following:

            —————————————————————————–

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent ‘Trust
Fund’ and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically controlled House and Senate.

            —————————————————————————–

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social
            Security (FICA) withholding?

            —————————————————————————-

Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the ‘tie-breaking’

Vice President of the US ..

            —————————————————————————–

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to
            immigrants?

            AND MY FAVORITE:

A: That’s right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.

Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65, began to receive
Social Security payments! The Democratic Party gave these payments to
them, even though they never paid a dime into it!

            —————————————————————————–

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA), the Democrats turn
around and tell you that it’s the Republicans who want to take your Social
            Security away!

          • Eddie47d

Dan; Well, the Republicans do want to get rid of S.S.or change it drastically. The Democrats can be azzes right along with the Republicans. President Johnson was a fool on that issue and certainly wasn’t forward thinking. The Republicans just raided S.S. by voting in the Bush tax break back in. They now have to take $20 billion out to cover the losses. The clowns are everywhere Dan.

The Huffington Post reports that O’Donnell was on a Sex In The 90s special on MTV. (Remember those?) “The Bible says that lust in your heart is committing adultery. So you can’t masturbate without lust,” she said, adding. “The reason that you don’t tell [people] that masturbation is the answer to AIDS and all these other problems that come with sex outside of marriage is because again it is not addressing the issue. You’re just gonna create somebody who is, I was gonna say, toying with his sexuality. Pardon the pun.”Boy is she nutty.Even God has a sense of humor,he created the right wing for the left wing to laugh at.Ha Ha Ha

…obviously “something” created people like you, if you’re really a human, as a fine example of sheer and utter nonsense…your comment clearly supports that theory.

          • Eddie47d

Jeff; No different than when they were discussing an issue and you put in a long thread on global warming which was far fetched from the topic discussed. Respond to Coal Miners comment or just ignore him and leave out the name calling.

Tom from Idaho:You don’t recall seeing in the Constitution where it said we had to fund public radio.Well the people that wrote the constitution probably didn’t think it would be such an issue and just sat back playing with their I phones, trying to figure out the best way to mount their new flat screen TV on the wall and all the other gadgets available to them in the 1700′s

We’re not to be funding ACORN and planned parenthood either, but we are funding planned parenthood. ACORN has been cut off at the knees. State some facts next time, moron! FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

  • jopa

Vigilant I realize you may be a little slow so I will try and explain this to you.Tom in a post above said he couldn’t find in the Constitution anything about funding public radio.Apparently he was in the same class as you so I figured I would have a little fun and point out there were no radios at the time the Constitution was written perhaps that was why they didn’t put PBR in the Constitution.I don’t know why I am being so vigilant with this matter, you probably still won’t understand.

Let’s put aside for a moment that this “gotcha” video is brought to us by the same O’Keefe who gave us the edited, doctored, and downright fictitious video intended to bring down ACORN. His videos should be given no more credence than pictures of Bat Boy on the cover of Weekly World News.

And this video is, of course, no different. According to Scott Baker at The Blaze (Glenn Beck’s outlet of choice), the raw footage, compared with O’Keefe’s heavily edited video, tells a different story. Take, for example, Schiller’s comment that has most incensed Republicans—that the Tea Party people are “seriously, seriously racist.”

QUOTE: [T]he clip in the edited video implies Schiller is giving simply his own analysis of the Tea Party. He does do that in part, but the raw video reveals that he is largely recounting the views expressed to him by two top Republicans, one a former ambassador, who admitted to him that they voted for Obama. END OF QUOTE

But let’s pretend—as the traditional media, including the oh-so-liberal NPR, is eager to do—that this video is an accurate portrayal of Schiller’s conversation. Let’s pretend that Schiller volunteered his own opinion that the Tea Party is racist.

So what? Is this really indisputable proof of NPR’s liberal bias? Or is it just the simple truth?

Republicans would have us believe that accusations of racism within the Tea Party are inherently biased. Only a biased liberal would think that spitting on a Black member of Congress and calling him “n***er” is racist. Only a biased liberal would think that a satirical essay, in which the “coloreds” beg Abe Lincoln to take back their emancipation, is racist. Only a biased liberal could read the Tea Party Nation’s solicitation of stories about being harmed by “illegals” and call it racist. Only a biased liberal could see signs at Tea Party rallies—accusing the president of white slavery, for example—and call it racism. Only a biased liberal could watch a video in which Tea Partiers proudly proclaim their hatred of the Muslims, Mexicans, “faggots,” and Obama (who should be sent back to Kenya), and conclude that Tea Partiers are racist. Only a biased liberal could look at poll after poll after poll about the attitudes of Tea Party members toward minorities and conclude that the Tea Party is racist.

The Tea Party’s racism is no secret. At rallies, on websites, in YouTube videos, the Tea Party’s racism is on parade, without apology or shame. And while the most famous supporters of this party—from the talking heads on Fox to members of Congress—will dismiss the most egregious evidence of racism by saying that it does not represent the party as a whole, they don’t exactly renounce it either. They like to pretend such incidents, like the assault on members of Congress, are the random acts of a few bad apples, when in fact, the whole barrel is rotten.

The problem isn’t that an NPR employee called the Tea Party racist. The problem is that NPR didn’t simply respond to this supposed “gotcha” video with a big yawn and a “Yeah? And?” Schiller said the Tea Party is racist. Oh my! This is the equivalent of a gotcha video showing a man saying the sky is blue. Shocking film at 11!

The problem is the unwillingness of the media, not to mention those on the left—including Vice President Biden—to state, unequivocally and unapologetically, that of course the Tea Party is racist. This isn’t a debatable point, or at least, it shouldn’t be debatable. Headlines about the Tea Party’s racism don’t require a question mark at the end. NPR needn’t have tripped over itself to condemn the remarks of its vice president, even before the unedited video showed that Schiller was describing what Republicans had reported to him.

Members of the Tea Party claim they are simply motivated by their concern about the government’s expanding powers. Of course, this party did not come into being during the Bush years, when the government justified warrantless wiretapping, indefinite detention of American citizens, and FBI investigations of peace activists. No, back then, some of the very same people who are now so concerned about their liberty were quick to say that anyone who questioned the president was unpatriotic. This sudden outcry to restore freedom coincidentally emerged after the election of our first African-American president, who, according to a majority of the Tea Party, and, in fact, the entire Republican Party, isn’t even a real American.

And yet the media is supposed to show the utmost deference to the Tea Party and to apologize whenever it makes the horrid misstep of even hinting that the party’s members are, as Schiller said, “seriously, seriously racist.” And even though Schiller is leaving NPR, as is its president and CEO, Republicans still insist that taxpayers should not have to support a “left-wing radio network.”

After all, we are living in an era that demands strict adherence to the Republican principle that water is not wet, and anyone who says otherwise is guilty of liberal bias.

    • Jana

      Lou,
You are a typical pathetic liberal/ Communist wannabe. Tell your lies over and over and over again and hope someone believes them. However, we are quite aware of your lies and distortions and we aren’t buying into your little game.

    • JeffH

Lou, as I pointed out clearly to another one of your
“progressive” brethren…you people are delusional and suffer from a severe case of confabulation!

Delusions such as yours are nothing more than pathological beliefs which persist despite clear evidence that they are actually false. They can vary widely in content, but are always characterized by the absolute certainty with which they are held. Such beliefs reflect an abnormality of thought processes; they are often bizarre and completely unrelated to conventional cultural or religious belief systems, or to the level of intelligence of the person suffering from them.

  • jopa

Lou Sarah: Excellent post. Not too Britebart and o’Keefe were exposed on their lack of credibility with their edited videos. However there is demand for such videos on places like Fox.The station with the palm trees in Wisconsin.ROFLMAO

  • jopa

Update: O’Keefe tape found to be bogus with several editing flaws. It was actually a pro Glen Beck site that found all the discrepancies and the manipulation of the tape.It is pretty cool when they were upfront and honest about the matter.
