Florida Gov. Scott Declared 'Dead' Voter

MIAMI, (UPI) — Those purging Florida’s voter registration rolls for ineligible voters might want to take a go slow approach — Gov. Rick Scott was declared dead in 2006.

Scott told Friday’s Miami Herald election judges told him he was dead when he went to vote at Naples City Hall in 2006, forcing him to cast provisional ballots in both the Republican primary and general election.

Scott said he just whipped out his driver’s license and insisted he was alive.

“They let me vote provisionally,” Scott said. “I’m sure it counted.”

Scott has been pushing county officials to go through voter rolls and remove ineligible voters. Voter-rights advocates have been objecting to the process. Scott says if someone is mistakenly removed, that person can just cast a provisional ballot, which will be counted once officials determine an error was made.
