Fighter Jet Makes Emergency Landing
ZHUKOVSKY, Russia, Aug. 21 (UPI) — A Russian fighter jet made an emergency landing at the MAKS-2011 International Aviation and Space Show in Zhukovsky, officials said.
“The T-50 fighter stopped the flight for technical reasons,” an air show official told RIA Novosti Sunday. “For the moment we know that the pilot is alive.”
Witnesses reported seeing a flash when the Sukhoi T-50 5th generation fighter took off. The plane landed with a parachute.
An aviation expert told RIA Novosti emergency landings are expected when an airplane is in the testing stages.
The advanced fighter jet is expected to go into service as soon as 2015.
