‘Fast Lane’ Will Get Supplies To Troops

‘Fast Lane’ Will Get Supplies To Troops

WASHINGTON — The Pentagon says a new “fast-lane” system will get life-saving military gear to troops in Afghanistan more quickly.

“Precious time is eaten in unnecessary deliberation…,” said Ashton Carter, undersecretary of acquisition at the Defense Department, one of the officials participating in the fast-lane system.

Among the items to be fast-tracked are gunshot locaters to help soldiers find snipers, increased vehicle armor to help protect troops from roadside bombs and protective underwear designed to provide troops additional security from buried mine explosions, USA Today reported Monday.

Under the new system, Carter and a Senior Integration Group that includes Marine Lt. Gen. Robert Neller are charged with finding the money to pay for the expedited materials.

Some delays are to be expected in wartime and can’t be helped, said Dakota Wood, a defense analyst at the Center for Strategic and Budgetary Assessments, a non-partisan think tank.

“During a time of war, demand will always outstrip available supplies,” Wood said. “You have good people trying to do the right things, but requests flow in continually and they’re all urgent.”

If it works anything like the ATF’s Fast and Furious gun running in to the hands of Mexical drug cartels…it is going to work fantastic.

You all want budget cuts and the debt reduced and that puts everything on the chopping block.

Troops in country everyone should have a cellphone tapped into each other and command so they know where each one is also UN Troops PS know one gets lost or kidnaped

  • Joey Biden

Well Duh! After how many years and how many wars someone finally thought it would be a good idea to expedite supplies to troops on the ground. Congratulations. Now make it work.

  • TML

I only support this, under protest that we shouldn’t freakin be over there in the first place. I can not disallow this because I can’t uphold keeping needed supplies for our troops, while they are there. But we wouldn’t need this if we brought our troops home.

Let’s see how many politicians get caught with the hands in the contractors cookie jar…..the government is most susceptible to getting things done with inflated cost….

    • independant thinker

The operative words here are ‘get caught”.

The answer is very few if any.

The typical American voter doesn’t give a damn about the troops. If they did they would have voted in the right people to bring our troops home.

Pull the troops out and start dropping NEUTRON warheads on them terrorist !!!
