Family Reunited With Dog After Nearly Two Years

ELM MOTT, Texas (UPI) — A Texas family was reunited with their long-haired Chihuahua more than a year and a half after the canine vanished from their previous home in Arizona.

Christy Tripp, 33, said her family’s dog, Lily, disappeared from their Scottsdale, Ariz., home on Easter Sunday of 2012 and the family has since moved to Elm Mott, Texas, WXTX reported Monday.

“Someone had left the door open in our house, and I noticed Lily couldn’t be found,” Tripp said. “At about 8 months I thought she was gone for sure.”

Tripp said she was shocked the receive an email Dec. 8 saying Lily had been found.

“I got an e-mail from Lily’s microchip company saying she had been scanned at the vet clinic I had used in Scottsdale,” Tripp said.

Tripp said the vet clinic told her Lily had been brought in by a man who said he found the canine wandering in her old Scottsdale neighborhood.

Tripp said the clinic was able to get help transporting Lily to her family’s new home.

“A good Samaritan volunteered to carry Lily on their flight free of charge,” Tripp said.

She said her family is overjoyed to have Lily back with them.

“This is honestly, the best Christmas present my family could have ever received,” she said.
