Distracted Drivers In Chicago Included Shaving Man

CHICAGO, (UPI) — Illinois State Police said motorists pulled over during a crackdown on distracted drivers in Chicago included a man shaving his face while behind the wheel.

Police conducting a crackdown on the Kennedy Expressway Monday issued citations to 135 motorists for distracted driving, mostly for text messaging while driving, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Tuesday.

The distracted driving tickets carry $120 fines, police said. They said texting behind the wheel is nearly as dangerous as intoxicated driving and is the cause of many rear-end collisions during rush hour.

Police said the man stopped for driving while shaving was one of several drivers who received warnings.

“He was trying to multitask,” Lt. David Byrd said. “At least it was an electric shaver and not a bowl of water and shaving cream.”
