Deaths Occur In Two Occupied Cities

Law enforcement officials dealt with two fatal shootings at Occupy camps in separate cities last week.

On Thursday, at shortly after 2 p.m. Eastern Standard Time in Burlington, Vt., authorities transported to the hospital a military veteran who was in critical condition as a result of gunshot wounds. He later died. According to Burlington Free Press, the 35-year-old man’s wounds appeared to be self-inflicted, though an investigation of the incident is under way.

The camp has been closed down by police, and reports indicate that protesters there remain tense.

Police are also investigating a fatal shooting outside the Occupy Oakland encampment in Northern California, according to The Associated Press.

An investigation into the gunfire Thursday that left a man dead suggests it resulted from a fight between two groups of men at or near the camp on a plaza in front of Oakland’s City Hall. The man, whom several Occupy campers said they did not recognize, was shot in the head.

Protest organizers contend that the shooting was completely unrelated to the Oakland Occupation.

While there are a few OSWers who are truly concerned about America, most demonstrators are easily-manipulated idealists who have no moral compass and no sense of direction.
From what I’ve heard about the ‘event,’ a great number of them are averse to soap and water. I’d
like to know what would happen if an ‘idealist’ won a major lottery while demonstrating.
It would seem to be a first-rate paradox. Give a huge chunk to Uncle Scam? Let your fellow demonstrators KNOW that you’re suddenly RICH?
If I had a reason to demonstrate, and if I won a major lottery while hanging out with OWSers, I would NOT be there for long. To find a rich SOB in the midst of a herd of OWSers might be all it takes for your life to be in jeopardy.
I’d be outta there in an instant. Still, it would make an interesting story. Some semi-objective newspaper might even dare to print the story. Most likely, if I won a lottery and had a few days to live, then perhaps one of the iconic, lamestream TV networks might even put my story on the old idiot box. It would make an interesting movie, too.

S.C. – you are truly clueless about a lot of what is going on with the OWS movement. Their moral compass is right on track and their movement absolutely has a direction but the media only wants to discredit them any way they can, thus the ‘spin’ in their media coverage. The 99% are the vast Americans who were pursuing their American Dream, too – buying a home, getting educated (themselves & their kids), paying more than their fair share of taxes, saving for their retirement, trying to live a basic comfortable life – this IS still part of the American Dream, right? – but greedy corporations & Wall St., with the blessings of their bought-&-paid for politicians, literally STOLE it all and they’re not through with us yet. Our gov’t no longer represents the public and given the deep corruption on every level, the majority of those 99% face a future of slave labor, poverty wages and no hope in sight. Those who have a job are 1 paycheck away from joining them so be careful how you condemn them, you may be one of them soon enough and you will find yourself pleading with the very system you defend right now. Once they deplete the low & middle class of everything they ever worked for, you guys are going to be the next hit on their list. Why? Because YOU have some money and they (1%) want it. Money is power & they don’t like sharing their power. The OWS does know what they need to do and they’re organizing real solutions – and not one solution involves “what’s in it for me only” fixes – they actually care aout fair solutions for all of us… you included.

sorry to burst your bubble, but I have a feeling that sc like myself IS middle class and through working our assets off we have been able to keep our heads above water and pay our bills- on time! A great many of the flea party want things handed to them on a silver platter, and if that is part of the “dream” then it is just that, a dream!!

Sonny Bubba, I can only hope that you’re not a utopian who’s posing as someone who gives a damn about America. You remind me of the Vietnam protestors in the late ’60s who thought they were focused in on ‘the man’ and his ‘establishment.’ They were utterly clueless, and they have much in common with the OWSer trash who think they’re railing about what has gone wrong in America.
Sonny Bubba, if those George Soros trollops had any idea of who’s who and what’s what, their sorry, smelly rumps would be camped out in front of the fricking WHITE HOUSE.
        THAT’S where the problem is.
You’re confusing apples and oranges. You think it’s enough to whiz and moan. Guy, you don’t know what’s going on, or you wouldn’t spout the crap that rolls out of your clueless mouth.
The Tea Party people gets it. You DON’T. The OWSers DON”t get it. I don’t much care what your political affiliation is. You’re dancing like a trained monkey. You didn’t dig for answers, and you expect to be treated like a scholar. Whiz off, puppet.

Good post Sonny, if the truth went as fast as the lies we would not see some of the articles. Urgency to place blame on the protesters for everything perceived bad and a reluctance to accept the ills of Wall Street is a big problem. I think the lights are beginning to come on for folks and the talking points are becoming less believable. People are out of work, losing their homes and having a difficult tome feeding their families. These hunger pains are getting relief from being told rich people needs to pay less taxes because they can’t afford it.
