Crop Circles Appear In Washington
August 3, 2012 by Bryan Nash
Crop circles have been found in an Eastern Washington wheat field. Local farmers are perplexed by the circles. The design, which resembles Mickey Mouse ears, covers about an acre of wheat.
The circles along Highway 174 near Spokane, Wash., were first spotted on July 24. There are no signs of footprints or human involvement.
“We’re trying to figure out how they got out there without breaking any of the wheat. It’s hard to walk through the crunchy wheat and not knock it down,” said Cindy Geib, whose family owns the field. “At the same time, it’s hard to think it’s aliens. It’s a bizarre thing to wrap your brain around.”
The circles will cause the Geib family to lose out on some of their revenue.
“Of course, we don’t have alien insurance,” Geib said. “You can’t do anything other than laugh about it. You just kind of roll with the theory it’s aliens and you’re special because aliens chose your spot.”
The Lincoln County area is no stranger to the odd event. Crop circles were found in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
The phenomenon reaches outside of the United States, with many crop circles being found throughout the world in 2012.
