Cracks In The Wall

Cracks In The Wall

You might have missed it amid the roar of Democratic rage over the past couple weeks, but someone said something interesting that disappeared in the din. Super-liberal activist Ralph Nader took a break from his eternal campaign to make the world safe at any speed to suggest that President Barack Obama may well have parked his proverbial Corvair in a very tight spot. According to Nader, a challenger to Obama is essentially guaranteed to emerge from the great mommy’s basement that is the holding tank for Democratic Presidential candidates: “I would guess that the chances of there being a challenge to Obama in the primary are almost 100 percent.”

While Nader didn’t let on to any specific inside knowledge about the identity of the potential Democratic mutineer, the fact that he’s dropping broad hints describe the development of further cracks in the Democratic monolith. A left-of-Friedrich Engels candidate in each election from 1996 to 2008, Nader may just be trying to boost back-catalog sales of his odd treatises.  But his statement ought to raise a few eyebrows as 2012 looms on the electoral horizon.

As anyone who reads more than The New York Times knows, Obama’s Administration is staggering like a punch-drunk prizefighter. The man hailed by the Democrats as the next-best thing to a savior has disintegrated under the pressures of Presidential duty. Epic economic and diplomatic disasters, paired with the rise of well-organized conservative opposition groups, have exposed him as the neophyte he is, rather than the heroic figure he was touted to be.

Even on the left, the rumblings of dissatisfaction are growing louder. Democratic mouthpiece Bill Maher, who generally describes women in, ahem, less-than-gentlemanly tones, chaired an impromptu panel of fellow liberals on a subject which ought to give Obama real pause: Hillary Clinton 2012.

Maher suggested Obama has inspired little more than “buyer’s remorse,” a far cry from the now-laughable “Hope and Change.” He went on to opine that the current Secretary of State and erstwhile Obama primary challenger Hillary Clinton might have a leg up on Obama because: “She knows how to deal with difficult men.” Not to mention difficult interns in blue dresses.

Meanwhile, The Times offered another dim assessment of the President’s acumen. In his essay “What Happened to Obama,” Emory University professor Drew Westen suddenly discovered the same reality conservatives have been trumpeting since at least 2007:

Those of us who were bewitched by his eloquence on the campaign trail chose to ignore some disquieting aspects of his biography: that he had accomplished very little before he ran for president, having never run a business or a state; that he had a singularly unremarkable career as a law professor, publishing nothing in 12 years at the University of Chicago other than an autobiography; and that, before joining the United States Senate, he had voted “present” (instead of “yea” or “nay”) 130 times, sometimes dodging difficult issues.

Welcome to the club, Professor; better late than never.

And consider the potentially impending candidacy of former Alaska Senator Mike Gravel. While Gravel would likely be yet another mosquito on the windshield of Presidential politics (again), it’s worthwhile to note that he has collaborated with none other than Ralph Nader. Gravel’s possible entry is another solid indicator that Obama has lost the support of the tinfoil-hat brigadiers of the very far left, virtually all of whom were solidly in the Obama camp in 2008.

In 1980, incumbent President Jimmy Carter faced a primary challenge from then-Senator Ted Kennedy. Kennedy, believing that Carter’s malaise-filled four years in the White House had opened the door for a run at the title, failed to swing the Democrats to his side. Kennedy’s candidacy severely weakened the already-teetering Carter Presidency and played at least a part in handing the Oval Office keys to the Republicans for the next 12 years.

I’ll admit there are a few Republican candidates who would hardly be my first choice for the highest office in the land (I’m looking at you, Jon Huntsman). But compared to Obama, even Huntsman is Teddy Roosevelt by comparison. It would appear some of the Democrats are starting to learn the same lesson.

According to ultraliberal progressive theory, Billary is the “best” candidate (a bit late, isn’t it?). People who have a conscience and have some self-respect would say that considering Billary in the next election is the same as saying that Obama is a monumental “OOOOOPS,” and that only by replacing him with SuperBillary can our faceless ‘elites’ atone for that incredible mistake.
It would also mean that there is some in-fighting going on among those ‘elites.’ The only reason ‘elites’ would consider Billary to get rid of The Anointed One is due to Obummer’s inability to bring America to its knees fast enough.
Add Billary and Bummer together, and what you have is two sorry excuses for quasi-humans. If you will remember, Billary got her comeuppance for proposing a revolting healthcare scam BEFORE Obummer got his chance. This would be her only chance to crawl into the W H and somehow make amends for The Anointed One ‘not performing up to the expectations of his puppet masters.”
“Elites” and “standards” are two words that are never to be spoken in the same breath. Maybe they should have considered Billary and Bummer the first time, instead of Bummer and Motormouth Joe. Gee, do the three represent THREE elite camps instead of only two?
Apparently, things are tough all over. Awwwww.

The d-bags don’t have a single viable alternative to the fraud cabal. Communists never do.

      • mark

Can the Republicans find one viable non-racist to run for President? This could be a tough one.

        • Allan

Liberals are the true racists for keeping blacks victims.

        • http://naver samurai

Just like a lib, gay loving, baby killing, marxist to play the race card. I’ll bet you Michelle Bachman and Sarah Palin would whip Obama bin Laden’s arse if the election was right now. I heard that Michelle beat Romney in the Iowa polls. This could be a good thing. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY! 하나님과 국가 대 한!

        • Peter

Democrats founded the Klu Klux Klan (KKK) and Democrats have throughout history consitently voted against the rights of blacks. Democrats are the true American racists. Republicans, on the other hand have consistently, and historically, voted for the rights of blacks in America.

          • Cawmun Cents

            Dont forget about planned parenthood.
That organization has killed more black people than AIDS has in africa.
Just think of all the babies aborted between 1973 and today.Nearly 50,000.000 of them.A large portion of which(if you believe the statistics),were African American.Which would lead us all to ponder what the science was behind that factoid? But…as in all conclusions, should be left to your own observances.-CC.

          • http://naver sook young

I agree with you CC. Anything dealing with the murder of innocent babies ought to be outlawed in this great country. Margaret Sanger was just a bigot who believed in wiping out other races. Gee, she sounds almost like a Nazi. Thank you.

Oooooops, Mark! There have been more racial slurs, innuendo and outright prejudicial comments

Why is it every time I hear “he’s just a puppet”, “somebody is pulling his strings” I get sick to my stomach? It’s almost like excusing Obama’s actions for ripping this country to shreds because somebody else is pulling his strings. Who are these invisible “puppeteers” with a fool dangling at the end of the strings?

Now hear this. No matter who they are Obama makes the ultimate decisions to look like the ass that he is. I’m almost ready to vomit here. NOBODY MAKES HIM DO ANYTHING!!!!!!!! He does it all on his own.

Countless times he’s gone against the suggestion of others and did his own thing. Every time he speaks I want to freaking utterly wretch. I really can’t stomach looking at him waving those horse teeth between lying lips, looking like a damn fool with the BS he spews. When I see him come on TV I turn the channel.

He talks down to the American people as if we are idiots, as if we don’t know the truth about things. He’s a freaking embarrassment to us and the world. I really do get embarrassed. He stands there with his nose in the air and pretends to believe what he says. He comes off, to me, as unsure of the shyt that oozes from his mouth.

Obama has NO BUSINESS running this great country and he needs to be gone. Should have been fired long ago and new elections held. He is a liar of the highest order and the American people are subject to this poor excuse for a court jester.

How in the heck did he get where he is without ANY experience whatsoever? He should have NEVER gotten to first base when vying for the office of POTUS.

As Americans, we should DEMAND to see asses and elbows of everyone running for president. The FIRST thing I want to see is a freaking birth certificate! Not a fake one contrived using photoshop. Then I want to see laid straight out on the table:

      School records
      College records
      Job resume
      Business experience
      Military experience
      Personal and professional affiliations
Ideas on the issues of right here and right freaking now
      Belief system
      Medical record summary
      Income and taxpayer records
      Bill paying records
      Bank records
      Driving record

I’m talking about a long rubber hose right up the rear end to see just what you’re made of. You want to be president, eh? Alrighty then, assume the position and bend over.

Obama has spent a lot of money to keep much of the information about him hidden. WHY??? Why is he allowed to do this and what is he hiding? He STILL has NOT come forward with who the hell he really is and We The People STILL don’t know who he is. We only know the destruction he is capable of. Who allowed the greatest scam ever to descend upon the American people? That’s right, I said it…SCAM!

Now that the nausea has eased, it is up to us, the American people, to make the changes we want and need. We can no longer accept the shenanigans of the liars, whores and thieves inhabiting our government and the flat out corruption. If it were you or I we’d be cooling our jets behind bars.

We need to make ALL elected officials sign documents, the contents being the promises they made to get elected. They need to be held accountable for the words they speak. Time to stop playing around with this crap.

Just like any other job, there needs to be a probationary period where performance is scrutinized, judged and a decision made whether or not the elected keeps his/her job.

If job performance is not up to par, promises made repeatedly broken and he/she has been caught in so many lies (sound familiar?) that even the devil blushed, then YOU’RE ASS IS FIRED!

What job has any of us had that if we don’t perform according to our employer’s requirements, get to stay 4 years any how and get paid for poor performance? Any one?

      Bang the drums!

      • Carol

Oh Moonbeam!! You perfectly express what I’ve been thinking for a long time. I too turn the channel whenever Obama is on. And I do the same when his butt ugly Amazon wife is on TV.
They both spew nothing but lies. They say absolutely NOTHING!!

      • Shibainu

Wow…my thoughts and feelings exactly!!! I have NEVER been able to watch a full speech by this buffon. Just the tone of his voice and that whistling “S” sound he makes causes me to want to wretch in disgust. This mostly because he is a liar through and through and I’ve NEVER been able to stomach a liar. Let me say this dammit…this is NOT about race!!! The man is a total loser and is destroying everything I hold dear about this country. Every day I read and hear about all the freedoms he and his cronies are slowly but surely chipping awat at to take away from us. I am angry, confused, and sickened at the race and class warfare going on and am so embarrased and ashamed at those who willingly go along with all the ugly displays. From flashmobs to union thug displays…it is soooo very ugly and sickening. What the hell happened to all the decent, caring Americans??? I’m sure most are as frightened and sick as I am but we shouldn’t be hiding. Write to you lawmakers, do what you know in your heart you must do to stop the evil that is trying to take over. Most of all, open your heart to God. This means you must self evaluate, admit wrong doings, and ask for forgiveness. I did that a few years ago and my life has changed, spritually, for the better. Now I just have to muddle through this human life and hope that there are enough people like me, who are honest, truthful, and logical, to come together to rid this country of the pestulance that has come to feast at our doorsteps. God Bless American!!!

Obama would never have Hillary as a running mate for VP – she will take him out (either physically or throw HIM under the bus) to get the presidency in a heart beat. The woman takes no prisoners. Plus, she IS intelligent, knows not to pizz of the masses (like Bill) and independent of ‘controllers’.

That’s why the controllers chose Biden.

Who cares if Mr.Ralph Nadar runs in 2012 Democratic primaries or not.Afterall, he has always be a spoiler to the Democrats in favor of the Republicans. It was because of him that George Bush became the Presidet and the cause of all our troubles both at home and around the world. And if he is coming again in 2012 what is new about him. Let him show his face for America is waiting for his appearance. We all know that “once a spoiler will always be a spoiler”,nothing can change the spots of a tiger.

    • eddie47d

Exactly Ben.says. The Republicans have at least 10 candidates running for President and now they make hay out of a couple of potentials vieing for the Democrat spot. I don’t believe Ralph Nader will be well received but it is his absolute right to jump into the fray. No different than all those Republicans.I think it is exciting that so many Americans are willing to give the Presidency a shot. That includes the crackpots,extremists,patriots,constitutionalists,anti-war,free-marketeers and the whole nine yards. Let the American voter sort thing out at the polls as we always have. I do get a little tired of all the communist talk as if that boogyman really has any power in America. It does make for the great theater of fear yet so out of touch with the reality of our political process. Another thing Ben(the author) why are you still playing the “savior” (Messiah)card? That is getting rather smelly since it never was remotely true. Should we be calling Rick Perry the “Savior” since he is grooming himself for that position? Since you all started early on the Obama Messiah thing I thought I’d give it a crack with Perry.Does Messiah Perry have a ring to it or would that be childish like the Republicans have been with that moniker? One thing for sure Perry with take the steam out of fellow Texan Ron Paul. I don’t think that would be a good thing since Paul is someone I can get on board with. Anyway welcome aboard Rick Perry to our political process.

mrbill, did you used to be on SNL?

  • MaryLovesGod

Since Obama has done nothing but lie and make with false promises it would amaze me beyond anything if he got in for a second term. The fact that he is even CONSIDERING running again blows me away! If he should win again then either the election was fixed by the powers that be or Americans are basically idiots. Rather than believe that Americans are idiots it’s more that the elections are fixed!

    • Old Henry

Boy Mary (that seems like an oxymoron) that sure sounds like a racist statement. Hope Tinkle Boy isn’t lurking around.

      • Shibainu

How the hell is Mary’s statement racist???? I did not get one hint of racism in her comments. Why don’t you wake up and really read/listen to what people are saying instead of blindly following your idiot messiah, Obama.

    • http://naver samurai

I don’t believe Americans are idiots, but many of them are uninformed voters. They go to the polling place and vote, but know nothing about the candidates at hand. Do like my wife and I did last year and sit them down and give them fliers from all the possible candidates, let them read and study them, then let them decide who they should vote for. Some voters are the ones that always vote straight party ticket, no matter who is running. Then there were many women in 2008 that stated,”I voted for Obama because he looked better than McCain.” If someone votes for a person who looks better physically, then the votes they cast are wastes of time as they care nothing about the country.

Old Henry, I don’t think she was being racist. I remember people in 2008 who would cry “racist” because someone didn’t vote for Obama bin Laden. Couldn’t she be saying these things and not have race be a factor? FOR GOD AND COUNTRY! 하나님과 국가 대 한!

      • Old Henry

If he does get back in, which I doubt, but stranger things have happened, this world will probably end as we know it. The boom will be so loud and so hard another universe will form.

According to the Mayan calendar, something big is “supposed” to jump off in December 2012, which coincides with the election 11/12. They either ran out of calendar space or foresaw oblivion and nothingness.

Could it be he gets re-elected and We The People take to the streets in revolt knowing full well there is no way he could have gotten re-elected with his abysmal record? If Nader the spoiler runs it is a possibility.

Okay, now I’ve just scared myself.

  • Bob

It really doesn’t matter which democrat runs because all democrats are evil and support the democrat agenda that is destroying America. We can’t be satisified with those who are “better” than maobama because they are still worthless. We need to elect those who have the guts to roll back every scumocrat program introduced and begin the process of dismembering our malignant, oppressive “Big Mother” government and who are willing to help foster and restore the principles of self-reliance and hard work that made this country great.

    • mark

Right the democrats are all evil – the pawns of Satan. Must be wonderful to have such a clear and dead-certain knowledge of good and evil in all human beings. Does God whisper in you ear and point out the evil ones from the good ones for you and you alone? 40% of voters in this country are registered Democrats including hundreds of thousands in our military. Once the righteous rule again you will have to get rid of all these devils. What method will be best – execution, deportation, or re-education camps? Because they’re can be no compromise, we must eliminate the evil ones. Do you hear voices? Voices from God? Wow! I disagree with much Republican policy but I wouldn’t consider hardly any Republicans or conservatives to be EVIL. They are just decent Americans who have a different philosophy from me on how to organize government and pursue policy – that’s all. Morality has very little to do with it. But then I must be crazy as everyone on this site knows there are only absolute good and absolutely evil Americans in this country. No, I’m wrong Democrats don’t even qualify as Americans or a human beings either – they’re just DEVILS!

      • Allan

So conservatives are racists in one post and “decent” Americans in the next.

  • http://moniquer7 Merlin

This does not seem like a realistic expectation. Neither party has much of a history of not renominating a setting president for a second term unless he himself says no. As someone else said, it would be like the party saying that they had made a mistake. Neither party would ever do that (especiall the democrats). Besides, the Obamaites in control of the democrat party would never permit it.

  • tangorv

I know President Obama is supposed to be an awful disappointment to environmentalists because he doesn’t talk enough about climate change, just like he’s an awful disappointment to progressives because he doesn’t say enough nasty things about bankers. But people who actually care about what Presidents do, as opposed to how they talk, might be interested in Obama’s trip to Michigan on Thursday. He’s visiting a factory that builds batteries for electric vehicles, a factory that exists for three reasons: 1. Because Obama saved the U.S. auto industry. 2. Because Obama has ratcheted up fuel-efficiency standards, boosting demand for green vehicles. 3. Because Obama created a U.S. advanced battery industry from scratch.

I’m going to have more to say about the battery industry in particular and Obama’s clean-energy industrial policy in general in the magazine. But as close readers of my oeuvre have probably already guessed—hi, Mom!—the Johnson Controls lithium-ion battery factory that Obama is visiting in Holland, Mich., was financed by his 2009 stimulus bill. Yes, that’s the pathetically tiny stimulus bill that any good liberal can tell you pumped a mere $800 billion into the free-falling economy—more than the entire New Deal in inflation-adjusted terms, and enough to prevent a depression, but still, a pittance compared to what it undoubtedly would have done if only Obama had properly and vigorously explained Keynesian economics.

Anyway, the pathetically tiny stimulus included an unprecedented $90 billion for clean-energy investments, including unprecedented investments in wind, solar and geothermal energy, biorefineries, the smart grid, electric vehicles, and factories to manufacture all that green stuff in the U.S. The most radical investment was probably a $2.4 billion grant program that helped finance 30 factories building advanced batteries and components, including $300 million for Johnson Controls, which had to match the government dollars with private dollars.

Before 2009, the U.S. was supplying less than 2% of a tiny global market in advanced batteries. When the stimulus-funded factories are all complete, they’ll have the capacity to supply 40% of a rapidly growing global market, about 500,000 batteries a year. The stimulus will also boost our supply of electric-vehicle charging stations by more than 3,000%. And the Obama administration has provided loans to help Tesla, Fisker and Nissan build electric-car factories in the U.S., all part of Obama’s pledge to put 1 million plug-ins on the road by 2015. That is what change looks like, even if the President doesn’t beat his chest and call for mass beheadings on Wall Street while it happens.

Again, I’ll have more to say about the battery factories; there are legitimate questions about how sustainable the battery industry will be in the U.S., how fast electric vehicles will spread in the U.S., and whether the government should interfere with the private sector at all. (Although as Jared Bernstein, Vice President Biden’s former chief economist, likes to say, we’re way more than a little bit pregnant on that last one.) It’s also fair to point out that these state-of-the-art factories are marvels of automation, a nice way of saying they don’t create all that many jobs; Johnson Controls will apparently employ about 150 workers in Holland. On the other hand, as electrification grows, we’re going to want to have a supply chain here if we want to have an auto industry here. And did I mention that Obama saved the U.S. auto industry in 2009?

My point, which I guess I’ve made before, is simply that the liberals who keep whining that Obama isn’t telling them what they want to hear ought to open their eyes and look at what he’s trying to do. Whining enviros should be especially grateful to Obama, which I guess I’ve also said before–and that was before his latest round of fuel-efficiency standards for cars and light trucks, as well as the first-ever standards for buses and heavy trucks. As White House environmental aide Heather Zichal pointed out in a Wednesday briefing, those standards represent the biggest step the country has ever taken to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. She didn’t point out that they’re also the biggest step the country has ever taken to reduce our carbon emissions.

I can see why the White House’s failure to mention the climate crisis would be annoying to people who spend their days trying to raise awareness about it. But would you rather have a President who talks about climate change, or a President who does something about it?

nothing but pure unadulterated bs. solar, wind and batteries are stone age.
i would prefer a president who knows something, barry has no idea what’s happening, his electric cars are a bust and always will be.
he cost the taxpayers billions of dollars bailing out gm, money they can;t payback. they can’t sell those electric sardine cans. this technology is old stuff, they never will find a battery on this earth, maybe mars. lol.

Hillary might have had a chance back in 2008, but I think she lost a lot of support by backing the UN Gun heist, still in the works. She’ll will remove our last chance to protect ourselves from complete government control of the people. If the Democrats are going to field someone other than BO, it will need to be someone who has the ability to relate to the bulk of the citizens of the USA; Hillary is not the person, neither is BO.

There must be a challemge and ultimately a new democratic candidate or risk getting a Wacko from the Right elected.
