Corrupting Influences

Corrupting Influences
TIME
Just a couple of years of exposure to the political system and the influences of corporatocracy changed some Tea Party newcomers.

Washington, D.C. is a cesspool of corruption. It takes an incredible force of will to spend any time there and not succumb to it.

The fact that Congressman Ron Paul has spent 22 years in Congress, including the last 15, and not been infected by the corruption is what sets him apart from most other politicians. It’s one of the reasons I consider him a true statesman.

Sadly, it seems his son Rand did not inherit his father’s fortitude. The two videos below—one made while campaigning for Senate, the other after his recent endorsement of Mitt Romney—demonstrate the result of just a couple of years of exposure to the political system and the influences of corporatocracy.

It also explains the apparent abandonment of principles by Tea Party favorites like Senator Marco Rubio, Congressman Allen West, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and others who campaigned on the issues of liberty and a smaller, less intrusive government but continue to vote for legislation like the USA Patriot Act renewal and the National Defense Authorization Act, which have essentially nullified Amendments 1, 4, 5, 6 and 8.

Editor’s note: It’s time to make your submissions for this month’s You Sound Off! feature, which will run June 27. Get your submission in by June 25. It should be no more than 750 words (if they are longer, we probably won’t read them). We will select the one or two we think are the best of the week to publish. We reserve the right to edit for grammar and style but will try not to alter the meaning.

Send your submissions to yousoundoff@personalliberty.com. Please include your name, address and telephone number (only your name will be published) so we can contact you if we need to clarify something. Anonymous submissions will not be considered.–BL

Now that corporation’s “are people” and the seated politician’s job is what it always was getting re-elected, it may be time to adopt a new tactic……

Corporations don’t have the same problems as people, no standard deduction and of course when debt becomes problem, the corp can just disappear…….and that still doesn’t mean the “owner’s” lost money……..

It may be time to consider that “people are corporations” might be the way to respond, after all, you would have the immediate benefit of lowering taxes to less than 15%……and
things that you can do as a corporation and call it an expense, are many. Why would you actually want to own anything…….if you own a home it’s value ( until recently ) appreciates, if you rented the home from a corporation you owned, it depreciates, all the way to zero…..which you then sell to another corp ( you own ) and do it again.

I have always found it fascinating that any equipment you buy for a business also depreciates, but human beings do not……….could we have achieved immortality and they simply haven’t bothered to tell us?

    • Warrior

Hey, maybe “obamacare” has a provision we missed that allows deductions for health care costs under the 3.5% cost of your adjusted grossness after taxes and gifts and acceptance of political donations, union dues, catastrophic insurance deductibles, loss of loved ones offset by in-ordinary income from abroad. After all, don’t we all start to “depreciate” after we are born? Oh, that’s if you haven’t been aborted, of course.

There is only one of two things it could be Bob! There is either something in the air and/or water around the Beltway or there is not a politician ONE in Washington DC who hasn’t been THROUGHLY vetted by and selected by the same group of puppet masters! I can not BELIEVE that a man who holds himself in such a HIGH intellectual light as yourself Bob, a self described thinker’s THINKER (LOL!!!), can not see that the one they think is the messiah is just ANOTHER one of them! A KOOKY old one at that!!! I’ll bet Ron’s done more than his share of time in the old barrel! LOL!!! I really like Rand, he articulates really well on some hot button issues and between him, Lee, Chaffezz, West. Nome, etc. UNLESS MY WORST FEARS ARE CORRECT, cause a little flicker of hope when I look to the future! I REALLY like Chaffezz, he’s GENUINE!!! Rubio, I don’t know about, he claims the Tea Party flag while at the same time, REEKS of the old guard Bob! PEEWWW!!! I REALLY like the kid who made these videos!!! Now that’s a REPORTER! GIVE ‘EM HELL KID!!!
So I need to put you on the hot spot here Bob, all the entities that we attack (Well most of us!) on this site, the Bilderbergs, the FED, the Tri-Lateral Commission, the CFR, UN, NATO, etc., ALL have a common link-pin which I have yet to hear you bring up once Bob! The same group of individuals responsible for every conflict around the globe probably since Charlemagne tried to UNIFY Europe back in the day!!! The 800 lb. gorilla in the room no one will talk about, the Freemasons!!! That can only mean one of two things Bob, you’re NOWHWERE near half as smart as you think you are (I like ya Bob, but ya are a little bit of a legend in your own mind! LOL!!!). or you’re one of them Robert! I’ll put my money on the latter!!! Your boy’s one of them! LOL!!!

LOL!!! If I couldn’t laugh, I’d be in TEARS!

EXCELLENT 1 hr. documentary on this history of the “Craft”!!! IF you LOVE your country and your God, you’ll watch this documentary!!!

The Lightbringers: the Emissaries of Jahbulon – http://topdocumentaryfilms.com/the-lightbringers/

“We believe, given the changing political landscape in Egypt, that it is in the best interests of the United States to engage with all parties that are peaceful, and committed to non-violence, that intend to compete for the parliament and president.” – US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, concerning the engaging of talks with the Muslim Brotherhood as a legitimate contending party in Egyptian politics.

“Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. Quran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope.” – The motto of the Muslim Brotherhood, this is the same group who so prouldly proclaimed responsibility for the assassination of Anwar Sadat in 1981.

“And for their saying, “Verily we have slain the Messiah, Jesus the son of Mary, an apostle of God.” Yet they slew him not, and they crucified him not, but they had only his likeness, and they who differed about him were in doubt concerning him: No sure knowledge had they about him, but followed only an opinion, and they did not really slay him, but God took him up to Himself. And God is mighty, wise!
There shall not be one of the people of the Book but shall believe in Him before his death, and in the Day of Resurrection, He will be a witness against them.
For the wickedness of certain Jews, and because they turn many from the way of God, We have forbidden them goodly viands which had been before allowed them.” – Sura 4:156-158
Muslims claim that Christians and Jews are intolerant reguarding them. These verses from their own holy book plainly show that it is them who have been intolerant towards both religions from their very conception.

“I do hereby, upon this Bible , and the mysterious legend of the Koran, and its dedication to the Mohammedian faith, promise and swear and vow…that I will never reveal any secret part or portion whatsoever of the ceremonies…and now upon this sacred book, by the sincerity of a Muslem’s oath I here register this irrevocable vow…in willful violation where of may I incur the fearful penalty of having my eyeballs pierced to the center with a three edged blade, my feet flayed and I be forced to walk the hot sands upon the sterile shores of the Red Sea until the flaming sun shall strike me with the livid plague, and may Allah, the god of Arab, Moslem, and Mohammedan, the god of our fathers, support the entire fulfillment of the same. Amen. Amen. Amen.” – The Shriner’s oath, to become a Shriner you must be a 32nd degree Mason and swear this oath. Just fun and games?! Yeah, right!!! WAKE UP AMERICA!!!
Keep your eyes on the skies, Jesus is coming! I don’t believe it’s going to be the same one that’s spoken of in the Quran, He loves y’all and so do I!!!

What’s wrong with our country Bob? Please watch this ten minute video. This plaque infects both side of the asiles!!!

you seem to hav all the answers so why don’t you name some of those times that Ron Paul has been in “the barrel”? I’ll tell you why. you don’t know any!

In most jobs, the people hired are expected to appreciate in value to the company. That is why so many companies keep on training their people as they advance through the system. Granted, this is hardly true for assembly line workers, because once you learn how to run an air wrench and where to put the bolts and nuts, there isn’t a lot more for you to learn, or is there? By the time you have learned all the operations to assemble one vehicle, there is a redesign, and possibly a whole new line to learn. Also, if you learn how to get along, and possibly give some guidance to newer workers, or get people to work a bit longer to finish some special project, you may move from straight line worker to line supervisor, then to floor supervisor, then to plant manager, There are a number of steps along the way, but most people do manage to get above basic line worker if they stay with this company for any length of time. Now, tell me, what machine can improve itself and increase its own value without some major expenses and time spent tearing apart and reworking. Consequently, most people DO appreciate their value to the company while they work there.

      • GALT

Interesting……this is why “manufacturing” is being automated at every step, possible?
Why business is snapping up the “older workforce” because they are so “valuable”?

Not my point anyway, Chester……..which would be expressed as the following….” if you can’t beat them, join them”…….becoming a ‘corporation” is not difficult…….or expensive…….tax advantage alone, cover the costs +, corporations hiring corporations, do not deal with deductions for income tax, ss, medicare, state and local taxes, benefits etc.

Actual “profits” can be passed through to the “owner” of the corporations, by a once a year stock buy back……which would then be taxed at the capital gains rate……there is more, of course, but hopefully this makes things clearer?

BTW, it is possible to “bury” any ownership links, using certain states, Nevada and Wyoming being two……..and using the corporate capital of the U.S. Delaware, to
make a trail so obscure that the government could not hope to penetrate it……..

As big as the U.S. Budget seems to be……..enforcement takes money, even the fake kind………..right now, those who are “employed”, make all this easy….since “business” is doing all the dirty work for them “IRS, FED, etc.” Now imagine this is all corporate, and the only tax returns filed are “corporations” showing no profit, and individuals only showing “income” from “capital gains”…………….just a thought.

The reason we are all given a social security number at birth is because we are just a number to the banks that control our world!

As we grow, and earn an education, we become more valuable to the puppet masters as our pay increases!

The more we earn, the more we pay in taxes, the more the central bankers benefit from the money they “loan” to our government!

The higher you go in a corporation, the more you produce for the banking families that control the Federal Reserve!

It’s called the “Matrix” and the machines that suck the life out of us are the families that control our money (Federal Reserve central banking system) and control our media, Hollywood and government!

It’s time to wake up folks!

This is our Matrix we live in!

If you take the Blue pill( democratic party), you stay in the fantasy world created by the bankers that control who you are, what you get from my tax money each month, and every fantasy you live in!

If you take the Red pill(Republican party), you wake up to a reality that is so horrifying that you cannot comprehend how we got to this mess we are living in!

As an American, as a human being, if you cannot see the facts and the truth in our daily lives, and what has happened to our incredibly, wonderfully gifted nation, you have taken the blue pill, and there is no hope for you!

It is up to the rest of us True Americans, too rid America of this disease that has infested us and the world, like the bubonic plague, and destroyed freedom in the name of socialism ( everyone is equal)!

The fact is we are all equal at birth, after that moment we can never be equal!

Your life is what you make it!

Bob, you are so wrong in your presumption of Rand, you remind me of a cult of people I worked for many years ago, they are called “ laroucheies”!

These good people followed Lyndon Larouche to the ends of their lives because they believed in the message he was spreading, and he was right! Everything Lyndon predicted in his writings has come true in the world!

Mr Larouche, as Ron Paul had very similar beliefs and understandings in American politics but both were demonized by the main stream media!

The fact is we are one hundred percent screwed as a nation,(because we cannot fight the banker powers that are) but true American’s will never give up!

        Divide and conquer!

Divided we fall, united we stand!

God bless America, and those who fight for her!!!!

Every time I state this truth, We get Stronger!!!!

Please enlighten me on the secret of avoiding taxes!

I feel we are all way over taxed and every dime we give these corruptors goes to extremely un-American systems of pure and simple corruption!

Prison system, military, entitlements and every system that makes humans into slaves of the state!

        Wow!

        That was an awesome read!

Did you know that during FDRs reign of terror, He was challenged by the Supreme Court on every one of his socialist programs ( all deemed unconstitutional)to the point of threatening our United States Justices to add an additional 6 justices to the court (all in his communist favor)!

Of course if you understand that out of 72 hired advisers (czars) 54 were of Jewish descent and most were foreign!

Thank you for enlightening me with an incredible history (I did check out the facts) and now I will fight my own battle!

        God Bless!

As regards the notion that ‘corporations’ are people, Wrong ! Please note, they are legal (not lawful) entities; they are persons. We humans are “Natural Individuals.” Big difference. The States of the Union need to enact restrictive statutes so that ‘only’ Natural Individuals may vote, have rights under State laws, etc.
It is interesting to note that most of us are ‘not’ U.S. citizens, nor U.S. persons as defined in 27 CFR (unless they moved the definitions again. (that is why all Codes are secretive, and obfuscate things, so only the government knows what is going on. Read, read, read. Do your own research.

Yes, Ron Paul is honest…..NOT! He talks about severe cuts and reforms to Social Security and I agree it must be done, but don’t forget….he even admitted he is receiving SS even though he obviously does NOT need it!
Also, he likes to tout that he does not like earmarks/pork, yet he will put these same wasteful items in a bill just so he can then vote against them just to tell people he did!
    NOT so honest to me.

    • Warrior

Yea, that stupid Ron Paul. When I filled out my W-9, I put your name down so you would collect the SS funds I and my employer paid into the progressive scam.

Actually, it’s the law that you have to take Social Security, just like it’s the law that you have to enroll in Medicare Part A. Not many people know that. He could give it back, though. It would make a good sound bite. I don’t think he needs it right now.

      • paul k

you do not have to enroll in medacare, I opted out, SS is getting back our own money we were forced to pay in.

    • Dwight Mann

Like you could do better, or be more honest, and buck the system like he has? NOT! You are an idjit. . .

    • Bob in Boston

He paid into social security his whole life while he had his medical practice – why would you say he shouldn’t get his own money back? Since he doesn’t accept his congressional salary (the only one in Congress to give it back) all he has for income is his investments in precious metals.
Same thing with earmarks – why would you say it’s a bad thing for him to work for his constituents to get some of their money back? If he doesn’t get it for his constituents it’ll just go to someone else’s!

      • druoak01

On Ron Paul: When the sh** hits the fan, THIS IS EXACTLY HOW ROVING MOBS OF PISSED OFF PEOPLE BEGIN. Shame on all of you!!! BOB IN BOSTON, tells the TRUTH! As things worsen, and they will, expect more of the same traitorous, back-stabbing and justified violence, 1 citizen against another. Tell me, does it not make sense that the globalists went out of their way to have Rand Paul & Mitt Romney meet together, have a day at the park, etc., just to create chaos within the RP presidential campaign supporters? Right out in front of your face, yet some here are still asleep. You will know who these foks are by their clear ginorance, prejudice and extremism. Fair warning to all. God Bless and be careful out there.

      • GALT

Actually, it is the “pension program” he says he will not take, when he finally quits…..his salary he takes, just like everybody else…….in fact, since he has missed 92% of the votes in the house……while campaigning, there is a call by some that he return this portion of his “salary”…..

    • alex

The author’s criticism of Rubio, the TRAITOR who puts the interests of foreign nationals here illegally ahead of our nation’s best interests, was much too weak.

But criticizing Rand Paul for adding his support to Romney for the purpose of a unified opposition against Obama was utterly uncalled for. If anything, Rand Paul is even BETTER THAN his father overall. For Rand is almost the same on his dad on most issues except he is a lot stronger on upholding the Constitution when it comes to DOMESTIC national defense [a core principle of the Constitution] than is his father, who is weak on opposing both the illegal alien invasion and Islamic encroachment. In short, Rand is a lot more closer to being the “strict constitutionalist” that Ron Paul untruthfully postures himself to be.

As for Allen West, the author conveniently suffers selective amnesia regarding the Patriot Act. Although West, as a newbie congressman did make the initial mistake of voting for the Patriot Act, he quickly realized his mistake and rectified it by voting “no” on its extension. Hopefully he will likewise reflect regarding the NDAA that all but three in Congress voted for as well. But overall, no Conservative candidate has been more faithful to the Constitution than has Allen West. And he would be Romney’s best choice for VP.

    • Karolyn

Did you even watch the video. Rand Paul is a SELLOUT! He will change his beliefs to suit what he want s to gain for himself.

tncdel wrote: “But criticizing Rand Paul for adding his support to Romney for the purpose of a unified opposition against Obama was utterly uncalled for.”

I’ll be voting for Ron Paul, and I must admit I was somewhat disturbed to see his son endorse someone else. But the campaign for liberty is a movement, not an individual. I realized how inconsequential the endorsement was when I read that Mitt Romney has 6 relatives who endorsed Ron Paul. You never hear about that, do you? :-) So quit freaking out and use your energy to keep fighting the good fight. In fact, it’s probably best to have our movement’s leaders disappoint us every once in a while. It’ll keep the movement focused around ideas, not leaders, and we’ll have a better chance of surviving when the central figure is no longer in the picture. The question is, can we prevent these minor sorts of disappointments from turning into soap operas that take us away from purposeful action?

    • WhatWillYouDoWithoutFreedom

My guy Rep Huleskamp from Ks beats all those listed above. He has only been there for 2 yrs but he consistently votes in favor of freedom and smaller government. Check him out and by the way I believe he was one of nine that voted against the patriot act.

    • Liberterian

Rand Paul and Marco Rubio are a sham. They lie throgh their teeth to support big intrusive government and the demise of the constitution. We don’t need any of these so called wantabe conservitives. We must make sure they never steal the 2nd Amendment rights we have so gracious been given by the founding fathers.

      Dear tnc,

A coin may have two sides but its still only a (single coin,) just as the D’s & the R’s are a {single unit.} The Goal is the same the method of getting there is all thats differant between them.

When and only when the people on the People Farm get that through their thick skulls will Postiive “CHANGE” ever happen. As in the nation could go back to the “Original Constitution”
Again we have not used it for over 150 years.

Thus all that goes on be it on the TV, the Radio, or the papers / magazines is nothing more nor less than “Political Thearter”

Again until the people on the people farm get that through their THICK SKULLS, nothing will ever change.

Oh and yes YOU are all Corporation, rather you like it or not, thats the TRUTH of all that was done under the RE CON Struction ACT, as well the nature of the very Vampire’s we have all become.

Yeah everybody who disagrees with one person’s political views is a TRAITOR. That is the problem with our extremist political discourse encouraged by nutjob websites on both the right and the left.

  • Randy131

This is truly an unfair comparison, something like what Obama has been doing in his political ads. Rand Paul held out giving anyone his endorsement until it became quite clear that Romney was going to be the Republican nominee for President, making that choice to be between Romney and Obama, for which Rand Paul chose the least of two evils to endorse, to ensure the defeat of Obama and his socialistic failed policies and agendas, and to stop the tremendous increases in our national debt. So if as you claim in this article that Romney, as Obama has already been proven to be, is associated with the Bilderberg Group, then we have no viable choice for President that is not associated with that group, and again I say Rand Paul chose the lesser of two evils, to help his Republican Party to rally all conservatives for the Republican nominee, and become a united party in the effort to elect their candidate to replace Obama as President. Which you and your article are not helping, and gives the perception that you want Obama to be re-elected as President.

    • Barbara Wilson

I agree with you……these groups/people who will not vote for Romney, but will vote for Ron Paul or one of the other libertarians, drive me crazy. I will blame these folks if Obama gets his second term. because standing for your “principle” and not someone who could beat Obama will be the reason. Have you not lived long enough to see the history of doing this? You’re not only goiing to lose your vote for President, you’re going to ensure that this socialist/marxist remains as President. It’s time you stood up for something very, very wrong with our country, and use your agenda of libertarian views as talking points, not as the way to put Obama into his second term. It reminds me of the verse in the Bible that speaks of seeing a small splinter in someone’s eye, but not realizing you have a huge beam in your eye……

      • Carl Manning

You’ll blame us but not the GOP for putting up such a despicable NWO Globalist candidate. THAT MAKES A LOT OF SENSE! The GOP has only itself to blame for losing in the general election, assuming elections are even legitimate anymore. They put up McShamnesty four years ago and lost. I’m sure most Conservatives were chomping at the bit to vote for legalizing over 35,000,000 illegal aliens and giving them our jobs and welfare in a despicable economy. They put up Dole back in 1996 and Bush I in 1992 and lost, and it was their own fault. The Neocons pulled a fast one on the electorate with “W” and the lie of 911 to further their globalist NWO agenda and kill and maim millions to satisfy Israel. They chose candidates that were despicable to true Conservatism and who espoused New World Order agendas of sending our middle class jobs, wealth, and industry to China and 3rd World countries. The GOP hasn’t given us any worthwhile reason to vote for them in quite some time. They mocked us when we brought up Obama’s ineligibility and insulted our intelligence. Neocon Romney’s about to put us all in WWIII over Iran. He will do absolutely NOTHING to bring jobs back to America. He will continue to abolish the Bill of Rights just as his GOP has been doing under Obama even though they control Congress. Yeah, THAT’S THE TICKET!!! I want to vote for nuclear holocaust, endless wars, a Russian and Chinese invasion, massive unemployment, poverty, starvation, debt, a worthless currency, disease, bankruptcy, slavery, FEMA camps, a police state, martial law, and the USSA/NWO!!!

we know obunhole is tied up with elitists. i read something at the beginning of the republican primary campaign that romney met with some of the builderburgers. if you go online and check out the “obama deception” you will hear how our president are chosen. in it it said the last several were chosen by elitists. i believe it goes farhter than that i’d say ike was one. kennedy was’nt. i’d almost bet it would go back somewhere in the 1800′s.

W/O 12 year term limits…and a much less generous pension…nothing can be expected to change…the one thing ALL the known corrupt congressmen had in common was…drum roll….they were in the royal congress over 12 years! Did I mention Ron Paul takes Social Security when he is against it and does not need it? Politics, as life, is picking the best choice…not the perfect…but we need to send more people home a lot earlier…730 dimdems (a record) got sent home in Nov 2010…one one flushing like that this Nov and we have a shot at sanity.

if you invest your money in something do you refuse to collect the interest when it matures? you sound like a dumocrap

  • http://http//yahoo.com sophillyjimmy

The Patriot Act began with good intentions but once again our government had to abuse it for their own benefits. It has served its purpose and now should be abolished. It will be good for people that fly since they are the ones that are paying the bulk of these TSA rent a cop’s salaries, they are also the ones that are being abused by the TSA rent a cops and the politicians can board planes and bypass these wanna be cops and let them get away with violating our freedoms. If passengers police themselves then terrorists will think twice about crashing into buildings, I think before the highjacked plane carashed into a field in Pennsylvania on 9/11, some of the passengers made the terrorists feel pain they never expected, and other terroists know this to be true. Passengers have to grow some gonads and stand up for themselves, it may mean that they could die but if it is for a worthy cause then anyday is a great day to die, and since we are all going to die eventually then it means it was just our time to go. Show fear to animals and they will bite.
Rand Paul is a believer in the Constitution and so is Mitt Romney, when you are talking about someone not obeying the Constitution direct your sight to the White House since ignoring the Constitution has been going on for 3 and a half years now and it is only getting worse as the polls show Obama is dropping faster then elephant turds.
Dr. Ron Paul has paid into Social Security for many years and is still paying into it so it is his right to collect returns from his government sponsored pension.
Social Security is going broke not because people that paid into it are now collecting the money they invested into SS, it is the government that didn’t invest what it collected from us workers properly, that is why government shouldn’t get involved in things they know nothing about such as investing and HEALTHCARE, they just don’t have the midas touch, eveything they touch turns into shyte, not gold.

    • http://gravatar.com/wandamurline wandamurline

Actually, there has been no terrorist who has gotten on a plane in this country…the other two boarded a plane in a foreign country. TSA has allowed guns, etc onto planes…fortunately, the people who had them were just ordinary citizens of the US….TSA needs to go….we are not Germany during the Hitler regime….or are we?

  • Karolyn

Even the best of them cave. I like the quote about Washington “It’s Hollywood for ugly people.”

  • Wendy

Really – this attempted interview is ridiculous. As a Texan, I am angry I didn’t even have a choice for the Republican nominee for the last 2 presidential elections, but it is what it is. Grown-ups have to make tough choices, and we all know what happens when folks try to make a point by voting their conscience as with the Clinton, Perot, Bush debacle. There are only 2 viable candidates running for president. One is OBVIOUSLY better than the other and you are asking Rand Paul to diss the only candidate who makes sense at this point. Grow up and work on what can be changed from this point forward.

    • http://teamlaw.org Jazzabelle

Perot was hardly a Constitutionalist, so don’t compare the people who voted for him to people who vote their conscience. While I agree that Rand’s endorsement of Romney is no big deal, I also support those who can’t bring themselves to throw their vote away on a candidate who will actively engage in the destruction of their country.

Voting for the nominee, no matter how awful he is, results from short-sightedness. Voting your conscience teaches the Party that they’d better give the people a candidate we can support or they are going to lose elections. Parties aren’t stupid; they’ll reform when they know we’re serious. It’s a free market thing. We’re essentially causing distortions in the political “market” when we vote for a candidate we don’t like; it’s sending false messages to the “suppliers” about the “demand.” Why would a “supplier” yank a hot-selling item off the market and replace it with something totally different that only 3% of people “bought” in the last general election?

      • Wendy

That theory works for markets, but not for political elections. Four more years of Obama will take us to Communism and there will be no more Constitution to fight for. There are other ways to change the direction of the country, but denying reality is not one of them. And by the way, people who voted for Perot voted their conscience, just not yours. There are many important issues that need to be addressed and the decisions to be made are not always black and white.

      • http://teamlaw.org Jazzabelle

Wendy, if you’re not in line with the Constitution, you’re acting on pragmatism, not principle. That’s completely different from voting your conscience. The people who voted for Perot, by and large, did so because they were sick of both parties. That isn’t voting your conscience, either.

      • http://teamlaw.org Jazzabelle

“That theory works for markets, but not for political elections. Four more years of Obama will take us to Communism and there will be no more Constitution to fight for. There are other ways to change the direction of the country, but denying reality is not one of them.”

Yes, the theory DOES work for elections. People have been saying “Four more years of President X will RUIN OUR COUNTRY!!!” for decades. As I said before, that sort of thinking is very short-sighted. The parties encourage it so that you will vote for their candidate out of fear.

But, for the sake of argument, let us say that you’re right. We all vote our consciences, and Obama is re-elected. By 2016 there is no Constitution, no elections, no private property, and anyone who complains is bombed in his bed by drones as he sleeps. If you were living in such a world, would you rather know that it was ushered in by 97% of voters, who voted for either a Republican or a Democrat, either of which would have led to the same outcome? Or would you rather know that, say, 30% of voters had voted for a strict Constitutionalist, and they are probably still out there somewhere looking for a way to regain freedom (theirs AND yours)?

You see, no-one even knows how to hope if the people don’t vote their consciences. You talk about “denying reality,” but we don’t even know what reality IS if elections don’t really reflect people’s opinions and desires.

Of course, in a certain sense, everyone always votes their consciences. No matter who you vote for, it says a great deal about you.

      • Wendy

Unlike most of the Libertarians on these sites, I place God above Constitution and that is why I am a conservative. My votes are placed according to what is morally right and usually, since the Constitution was written by faithful men, it falls in line with the Constitution. However, this document has been so misconstrued over the years and laws have been made which are no longer in line with God’s will. If you believe in following the Constitution, then why would you allow a candidate to win who will place secular justices in the Supreme Court to change its previously moral structure? I do not claim to know everyone’s reasoning on why they vote the way they do, but all I can say is that my vote is based on the candidate who is most closely aligned with the Truth.

      • Wendy

How do you get that voting your conscience would mean that Obama is re-elected? I view it the other way around. If Ron Paulers actually voted between the 2 actual candidates, and voted their conscience, then Obama wouldn’t have a chance.

      • http://teamlaw.org Jazzabelle

Not to be the bearer of bad news, Wendy, but the Supreme Court is already full of secularists. Don’t listen to what they say, Wendy, look at how they rule.

Wendy wrote: “I do not claim to know everyone’s reasoning on why they vote the way they do, but all I can say is that my vote is based on the candidate who is most closely aligned with the Truth.”

Then I offer my humblest apologies, Wendy. I was under the impression that you intended to vote for Romney.

Wendy wrote: “How do you get that voting your conscience would mean that Obama is re-elected? I view it the other way around. If Ron Paulers actually voted between the 2 actual candidates, and voted their conscience, then Obama wouldn’t have a chance.”

You were the one who was just arguing that people SHOULDN’T vote their consciences because then Obama would be re-elected. So which is it?

By the way, “If Ron Paulers actually voted between the 2 actual candidates” is a REALLY big IF. And even with it, you’re mostly wrong. The truth is, if most Ron Paulers had to choose between Obama and Romney, and IF they voted their consciences, most of them wouldn’t vote. You might as well say, “If a Christian had to pick between worshiping Satan and Mohammed, and the Christian followed his conscience, Satan wouldn’t have a chance!” Oh, really?

      • Nadzieja Batki

Thanks Jazzabelle, voting for Perot was an emotional knee jerk reaction akin to a childish temper tantrum.

      • Wendy

My sentiments are obviously falling on deaf ears. Not voting is just that, not voting. You will not be voting your conscience at all, because – you won’t be voting. At least during this election, you are being asked for your opinion. If Obama wins, it will probably be the last time you will be given an option at all. Your view seems to be no different than a liberal, you are searching for an utopia. It does not exist in this world. I would like the perfect conservative candidate as well, which would differ from your conservative candidate. Not everyone thinks exactly alike, but we all have to play on the same playground. If you want to pick up your toys and quit, then fine, but don’t complain about the results.

      • http://teamlaw.org Jazzabelle

I’m not picking up my toys and quitting, Wendy. I AM being asked for my opinion, and I’m giving it! You are the one who seems to have a problem with me voting for the person of my choice. You implied that it was childish and immature to support anyone but Romney, and implied that anyone who didn’t vote for Romney was “allowing” Obama to have another term.

My vote for Ron Paul doesn’t “allow” Obama a second term. Only Americans’ collective stupidity, ignorance, amnesia, laziness, short-sightedness, and denial of reality will allow Obama a second term. And if I, personally, am to rise above my potential for stupidity, ignorance, amnesia, laziness, short-sightedness, and denial of reality — then I can’t support Romney either. Because the evidence (including Romney’s own statements and voting record) proves that he’s cut from the same cloth as Obama.

    • Vigilannie

You mean the two candidates obama and romney?? ..one is obviously better than the other????? THAT’S THE BIGGEST lie I’ve heard in a long time. Even according to Judge Andrew Napolitano – both obama and romney are the same on all key issues……THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE……only the sheeple think there is!!! They are either brain washed ro brain dead!!! God help us!

      • Wendy

Vigilannie – even if I buy into what you are saying about Obama and Romney being exactly the same, (which I don’t) we know what we will be getting with Obama and I don’t like it. Why would you make the same mistake twice?

  • Chester

For those who complain that the government should “keep its nose out of investing Social Security funds”, please go back and read the establishing laws for social security. It seems that all surplus funds, those in excess of what is needed for day to day operations, will be invested in government grade securities, or better. Now WHAT securities out there have outperformed T bills and bonds? Especially over the long haul, which is where the social security administration has to look.

    • Sanders

It is my understanding that the real reason why SS is broke is because our gov officials cant keep their hands out of the fund. Some prez, and I think it was Tricky Dick (I could be wrong) decided it would be best to put the SS money in the general gov fund and spend it on what they needed for the day. That is the biggest reason for it being broke. And for the past several years, to make matters worse, our numb gov officials decided to decrease the funding of SS by declaring a payroll tax holiday (to buy votes I’m sure), whereas the then going rate of 6.4% was reduced to 4.2%, all the while the Baby Boomers are retiring at record numbers. Talk about a prescription for disaster.

      • http://teamlaw.org Jazzabelle

The PURPOSE of the Social Security Act was to raise revenue for the Government to spend on whatever it wanted. It says so in the first paragraph of the Act. Providing retirement funds to old people was just how they sold the scheme to the public. That part was never intended to require all the funds generated by the system.

        Dear Esther Morales,

You write: “Rubio is a citizen. he was born in Miami. he ai (sic) sympatheic (sic) to the children that were brought here by their parents illgally (sic) and have becom (sic) productive citizens. Even though, he still wants very strict regulations regarding these children.” You are correct in that Rubio is a citizen. However, he is not a natural-born citizen and is therefore ineligible to be President. http://personalliberty.com/2012/02/08/sorry-hes-not-a-natural-born-citizen/
        http://personalliberty.com/2012/02/23/the-natural-born-question/

You write: “He is very much a conservative. Get your facts straight.” He is a Republican but he is not a conservative. Conservatives would not vote to renew the Patriot Act or NDAA or to give amnesty to illegal aliens or continue the TSA or advocate for perpetual war. Get your facts straight.

        Best wishes,
        Bob

What part of being a “thief” can you not comprehend? Because you have all the warm fuzzies for the illegals does not give you the right to foist them on America.

        • Esther Morales.

Rubio is not a thief. He is a compassionate human being. I would like to know if you are an American Indian because otherwise we all descend from immigrants in this country. However, He just wants work permits to all that are worthy and contribute to this country to be revised every 2 years. They are lot of immigrants from Europe, China , Canada, Russia that come here illegally also. A lot of them also comes in with work permits and stay after it expires. If not go to the Russians and ethic neighborhoods and you will find them. throu hundred of years they have been legal and illegal immigration from all countries. if you go by your statement the descendants of illegals should not have had a chance and thousand of those will have to be deported right now.

  • rendarsmith

I’ve been a staunch supporter of Ron Paul, but I find this very suspicious. He was very critical of all his opponents in the primaries (and rightfully so)…..except Romney. That is VERY concerning. I can’t help but wonder if this is another Bill Clinton – Ross Perot type situation.

    • Sanders

It may be because Romney rarely, if ever, attacked him. He is not a biter but will bite back when provoked.

  • jake

ron paul is great, but, voting for him ” IF” on the ballot is a vote for obama. wake up and smell the reality. even his son was told to back romney by his dad. you think not? paul will have lots of influence with mitt and that is what its all about.

The GOP did one fine job, I must admit, of hoodwinking so many of you fools who really thought you could take the party from within. I knew the fix was in when the GOP immediately started using its surrogates to conduct TEA Party meetings. They were just out to get your vote and play on your emotions any way they could to get back in power. When Nicky Haley, Christine O’Donnell, Marco Rubio, and even Rand Paul came out endorsing Romney, the Establishment GOP most definitely had the last laugh! Until the Conservatives, and by that I definitely do not mean neocons, wise up and start their own Third Party or support currently existing Third parties like the Constitution Party or Libertarian Party or just run as Independents completely unaffiliated with any party, they will only continue to be taken advantage of by the Establishment GOP. If the TEA Party had been wise to what was going on and decided to form its own political party and run its own candidates, John Boehner would not be the Speaker of the House and the GOP would be forced to reckon with Conservatism whether they like it or not. Of the 80 TEA party freshmen who were elected, 68 betrayed the American People and the quintesential principles of the TEA Party itself with the Debt Debacle vote on August 1st, 2011. In a mere 7 months after taking office, they had betrayed the American People and were welcomed into the GOP Establishment fold of TRAITORS. Not a single one of them to my knowledge even demanded Obama prove his eligibility. They have remained in the GOP’s back pocket ever since and that’s exactly where they will remain. In record time, they became good little whores and just another parasitic government welfare check. I wonder how many of these idiots supported NDAA and the Patriot Act. They have almost completely eliminated the Bill of Rights. They have refused to represent us or even listen to us in the District of Criminals. The only proper response now is to laugh and ridicule them. I hope that when these TRAITORS decide to have their townhalls in October that the American People come out in droves carrying toilet tissue, eggs, pies, squirt guns full of Kool-Aid, mud, manure, bullhorns, and nooses in hand and let it fly. The time for TALK is long past OVER!!!

JUST A THOUGHT…WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF SERVING IN CONGRESS OR THE SENATE WAS HANDLED MORE LIKE JURY DUTY ? WHAT I MEAN IS, WHAT IF REPRESENTITIVES WERE CHOOSEN AT RANDOM FROM A POOL OF QUALIFIED, INTELLIGENT, PRODUCTIVE, TAX PAYING CANDIDATES (YES, UNLIKE JURY DUTY, BUT STILL…) TO SERVE ONLY A 4 YEAR TERM, THEN AUTOMATICALLY REPLACED FROM THE SAME POOL THEY CAME FROM ? OF COURSE, THIS IS TIED DIRECTLY TO MY CONSTANT RANT ABOUT I.Q. TESTING FOR VOTERS & CANDIDATES ALIKE, BUT WHAT WOULD ACTUALLY HAPPEN ? WE’D MOST LIKELY NOT HAVE TO SUFFER THE FALSE LEFT/RIGHT PARADIGM ANYMORE BECAUSE WE’D CHOOSE OUR REPRESENTITIVES AT RANDOM & POLITICAL AFFILIATIONS WOULD NOT INFLUENCE THE DECISION AS TO WHO WAS CHOOSEN. YES, IT COULD SERIOUSLY BACKFIRE IF A BUNCH OF LIBTARDS WERE CHOOSEN ALL AT ONCE BY CHANCE, BUT WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF THAT HAPPENING ? IT COULD MEAN THAT PEOPLE LIKE YOU & ME, INSTEAD OF CORRUPT CAREER POLITICIANS, WOULD SHAPE THE FUTURE OF OUR COUNTRY & MAKE POLICY DECISIONS THAT DOESN’T SHOOT OUR COUNTRY IN THE FOOT FOR PERSONAL GAIN LIKE CAREER POLITICIANS DO. MAKE MORALS, CONSERVATIVE VALUES (NOTICE I DIDN’T SPECIFICALLY SAY REPUBLICAN ?), & CONSTITUTIONAL KNOWLEDGE PART OF THE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS. I HAVEN’T THOUGHT IT THROUGH COMPLETELY, AS IT WAS MORE OF A RANDOM THOUGHT THAN ANYTHING ELSE. REMOVE SELFISH AND/OR POLITICAL MOTIVATIONS FROM THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS IN A COMMON SENSE WAY, YA KNOW ? ALL I KNOW IS SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE, OR WE’RE SCREWED !!! THERE’S ALWAYS MY ARGUEMENT IN FAVOR OF I.Q. TESTING TO VOTE OR HOLD OFFICE, BUT THAT’S ANOTHER RANT FOR ANOTHER TIME. THIS IS MERELY A “WHAT IF” QUESTION, JUST A RANDOM THOUGHT FROM SOMEBODY WHO HASN’T HAD ANY COFFEE YET TODAY…………..

Rand Paul is Right ON! He knows what he’s talking about. We are going to be stuck in a chatch 22, as always in the Presidency. We really don’t have a choice in a GREAT President. But we wont become a communist country as fast! We have time to change things & turn them around in the right direction!!

  • Robert Rashbrooke

Nancy and Frenchie both have worthwhile ideas regarding our politicians. In the last term of the Bush administration Congress sat for 105 days only, the lowest record on Congressional history but were paid for a full years work.

I heard that Representatives and Senators usually spend three to four hours a working day on the phone drumming up re election funding and this figure increases toward the end of the month if there has not been enough response. I wish I had a job like that, but my boss expects me to work for him whenever I am booked in on the job.

Some of our politicians have suggested that it takes YEARS for a newbie to learn the ropes of politics and that they only become really effective during the second term! But surely we could employ the permanent staff on Capitol Hill to clue them in quicker than that, or are all politicians slow learners.

I realise that there are likely be responses saying it is easy to criticise but much harder to come up with a viable alternative, a truism. I am afraid that I do not have sufficient experience in administration nor politics to provide the definitive answer, but surely some of you have good and acceptable ideas, so that we do not have to keep this currently broken and corrupt system.
