Corrupting Influences

Corrupting Influences
TIME
Just a couple of years of exposure to the political system and the influences of corporatocracy changed some Tea Party newcomers.

Washington, D.C. is a cesspool of corruption. It takes an incredible force of will to spend any time there and not succumb to it.

The fact that Congressman Ron Paul has spent 22 years in Congress, including the last 15, and not been infected by the corruption is what sets him apart from most other politicians. It’s one of the reasons I consider him a true statesman.

Sadly, it seems his son Rand did not inherit his father’s fortitude. The two videos below—one made while campaigning for Senate, the other after his recent endorsement of Mitt Romney—demonstrate the result of just a couple of years of exposure to the political system and the influences of corporatocracy.

It also explains the apparent abandonment of principles by Tea Party favorites like Senator Marco Rubio, Congressman Allen West, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and others who campaigned on the issues of liberty and a smaller, less intrusive government but continue to vote for legislation like the USA Patriot Act renewal and the National Defense Authorization Act, which have essentially nullified Amendments 1, 4, 5, 6 and 8.

Editor’s note: It’s time to make your submissions for this month’s You Sound Off! feature, which will run June 27. Get your submission in by June 25. It should be no more than 750 words (if they are longer, we probably won’t read them). We will select the one or two we think are the best of the week to publish. We reserve the right to edit for grammar and style but will try not to alter the meaning.

Send your submissions to yousoundoff@personalliberty.com. Please include your name, address and telephone number (only your name will be published) so we can contact you if we need to clarify something. Anonymous submissions will not be considered.–BL
