Confessions Of An Illegal Alien

July 21, 2010 by

Confessions Of An Illegal Alien

I believe Arizona’s Immigration Law S.B. 1070 is going to be damn effective. In fact I think it should be adopted across the United States. What special insight do I have into the matter? I used to be an illegal alien.

Twenty-seven years ago this month I was sitting at my desk in the Peyton Building in downtown Spokane, Wash., and I got a letter from the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS). I jerked it open and realized my worst fears. My work visa had not been extended.

Immigrating to the United States had been a disaster right from the start, even though it shouldn’t have been. My dad, C.V. was a U.S. citizen by right of his father being born in Oklahoma. At least that’s what the U.S. State Department said when they issued C.V. a U.S. passport.

Yet INS thought otherwise. They hadn’t forgotten that C.V. had sold gold to Americans when it was illegal for them to own it. INS wanted to deport him. It was a legal fight that would take a decade to resolve. In fact a U.S. Federal judge finally ruled in C.V.’s favor a few months after his death in 1990.

But on that day in 1983 the only thing that mattered was the letter on my desk; the letter that said I had to leave the U.S. or face deportation. It didn’t matter that I had paid my taxes, bought a house and that my wife and I had an American-born son.

Despite the fact my dad was ill I decided that I didn’t really have a choice. Better to move back under my own terms than to be roped-up like a criminal and be “escorted” by deportation bus.

Of course my dad, who was also my boss, was dead set against me going back to Canada. Besides the fact that he hated the Federal government, he had a U.S. passport that proved to him that I was entitled to a green card. He talked to his lawyer Bob Magnuson, who was the brother of Idaho mining legend Harry Magnuson, and set up a meeting with a young immigration lawyer named Dan Keane.

Before Dan became an immigration and criminal lawyer he had worked as an INS agent. In fact his father was a well known immigration judge.

I showed Dan the INS letter and he read it carefully. Then he smiled and said, “So what’s the problem?”

“What’s the problem? This letter says if I don’t leave I am going to be deported!”

“That’s not likely to happen. You’re dad’s citizenship is going to get sorted out and when that happens you will get a green card. Until then I wouldn’t worry about it.”

I told Dan I was plenty worried about it. That I was afraid to get so much as a speeding ticket; that the cop would check on my immigration status and that my wife and I would be headed for Canada.

Dan started laughing. “Hell John, the cops don’t enforce immigration law. They don’t care.”

“They don’t care!” I was astonished. Here I was, living illegally in a country and this lawyer—my lawyer—was telling me that law enforcement didn’t care.

“You could get caught robbing a bank and your immigration status probably wouldn’t be called into question,” explained Dan.

Because of Dan’s advice and my father imploring me to stay, I decided to be an illegal until there was a ruling on C.V.’s citizenship. Fortunately I was given amnesty and granted a green card by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. A decade later I became a U.S. citizen.

I have always been grateful for the opportunity to become an American. But I also know it would never have happened if I had fretted about the police enforcing the law. And while Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has been called a bigot for signing S.B. 1070, she has struck upon an idea that is long overdue: That state law enforcement should enforce U.S. laws and that in doing so the U.S. can at least slow the flood of illegals entering the country.

In fact, on July 12th wrote: “The upcoming enforcement of SB 1070 has caused many illegal immigrants to flee Arizona.”

It is hard for me to understand why the Obama administration is challenging assistance from local law enforcement when clearly the Federal government needs all the help it can get.

There are as many as 30 million illegal aliens in the U.S. That’s the population of Canada. And no place has been impacted harder than Arizona.

According to the Connecticut Law Tribune, “Three state counties have been lost to violent Mexican drug cartels. More than a thousand attempt to cross the border every day. Between 1996 and 2009, the illegal alien population in Arizona increased 300 percent.”

The CLT goes on to point out that, “In 18 months alone, more than 22,000 people were killed in an ongoing drug war in Mexico near the Arizona border. Thugs are now throwing rocks at the heads of our border patrol agents.”

Yet even as Arizona suffers the highest kidnapping rate in the world outside Mexico City, the Obama administration wants to obstruct Arizona from protecting its own people who are, after all, American citizens.

U.S. News & World Report says there may be method to the Federal government’s madness, with both the Obama administration and the Republican Party, “spending way too much time bowing to the interests of illegal immigrants (who come in all races and colors) and refusing to enforce existing laws or pass new ones limiting immigration to that which improves our environment and our economy.”

Through the Justice Department President Barack Obama declares that S.B. 1070, “illegally intrudes on federal prerogatives,” and further states that Federal law “trumps state statutes.”

Is the State Department serious? After all, if somebody is hijacking an airplane or kidnapping someone across state lines do we worry whether they are arrested by the Feds or the local cops? Of course we don’t. So why then should we worry who is enforcing immigration laws? We should only worry that they are being enforced.

As a person who once feared deportation I am not sure what if any of S.B. 1070 has to do with race or racism. I knew that if the INS caught me I was in fact going back to Canada. It wasn’t like they were going to say, “Oh heck you’re a white guy, we will let you stay.” As far as I could see back then and right now, Federal immigration laws are color blind. It is the Federal government which is blind to America’s needs.

    - Would it be useful to compare this Administration’s border policy it practices with that of the major nations of the world?
    - If Russia, China, and other nations of the world can build border walls, why can’t the US…and avoid those coming across unauthorized?
    - What is opposition to Obama’s border security proposed legislation?
    - Why isn’t alternative legislation proposed in response to all contraversial Obamacrat legislation? immediately in order to give voters and our reps a choice?

    • hflashman

Compare us to the rest of the world? Sure…why not? Bush took us from being the leader and beacon for the world’s poor and oppressed …and brought us down to the level of barbarians. Might as well compare us with barbarians…most of the Right wants us at that lower level…

      • Coservative at Birth

Are you a Barbarian? What exactly can explain your infatuation with Bush?

And he did a wonderful job, at least according to the record of facts. Under him, employment at an all time high, unemployment at an all time low. Stock market at an all time high. Freedom brought to a couple of nations. And now, the democrats are screwing it all up. Just knowing that there wasnt any way McCain was going to get elected, and knowing a democrat tax monster was coming, sent the economy into a tailspin his last year, as business’s tightened up to save money for the new incoming tax monsters. And their fears were confirmed as the usurper was elected. Now they have a leader who cant remember the name of the guy heading the war, then they fire him for telling the truth in an interview that the president only talks to him once every six weeks. Now we have more GI’s getting killed in one day than we did at any point in this war. They havent a clue what to do, and have steered off the course of victory that they were on. And everybody who knows anything, knows, without a doubt, and as a fact, that the democrats want this Iraq and Afghanistan thing to go down the tubes as a dismal failure, so that they can keep pointing the finger at Bush and the Republicans. It so sad, but its true if one is interested in the truth at all. For it to suceed, is bad for the democrats. Failure is good for them. And they know it. That is how anti-American they have become, that they would have America fail to give themselves more power. Wake up America, and get them out ASAP. If they had stayed the course, and had any intent of following through with the plans in place, things would be a lot better. But they want failure, for their own benefit. No one, interested in the truth and reality can doubt that for a single minute. This admin is a dismal failure, and all they offer is to do what they did to get elected, and that is to stand on their soap box in the public square, and point fingers and place blame. Thats all they brought to the table at the onset, and that is still all they offer. Complete failures, and their 15 minutes of fame is running out.

I for one think that vast majority of Americans are asleep not knowing what is happening in America right under their noses. Yes Obama’s administration will bring USA down to it’s knees soon,if he is NOT stopped. Go to YouTube and type in” Obama admits he is a Muslim” please listen to it.No country must tolerate illegal imegrants whether be it in USA or other countries.

To all of you Americans out there who are bad mouthing each other with meaningless diatribe and insults — The divisivenss is killing this country and none of you are helping and that is what the politicos want. The real problem is that no one –Democrats or Republicans want to do anything about the immigrationn problem for their own politically selfish reasons. I am a Republican and I loved Reagan but he made several bad mistakes and one was the amnesty that passed during his administration with the promise it would never happen again. I said B.S. at the top of my voice at the time and now that we hava a President who wupposedly wants to help the people and the nation but who has done everything he can to destroy this country it is time to make a stand for the very basic principle of holding this man, who should be impeached for not protcting this country —FEET TO THE FIRE. He has to go and we need to stop the flow of illegals — What is it about illegal that many do not understand. pete2sail

I guess you’re saying if we don’t have open borders then we are barbarians? We are the leader of the free world because of our liberties and ingenuity. We recognize the rights of others and “the pursuit of happiness.” One of the few recognized responsibilities of the federal government is to enforce our borders and protect the people. Your overly-simplistic, open border attitude shows you lack of thought in this matter. I think if you moved your family to the Arizona border you might change your mind.

        • possum

Kimbo, I have to agree with you. Our Federal Government would rather distribute the money and run all the business than look out for the citizens.

        • Ellen

Very well said, Kimbo. Those who defend open borders have an agenda, pure and simple. Either we are for protecting our people or we are not.

          • hflashman

Walls work both ways…think about that

          • Robert

            Ellen & 45caliber,
You have hit the bullseye. Pres. Osama does not want to stop the illigals from crossing the border. He wants as many as he can get in, in, to support his self ritious, non-American agenda. The more illigals he can get into the states, the better for him. He will try to give amnesty to all the LAW BREAKING aliens, instead of prosecuting them so that he has the millions of law breakers voting yet another LAW BREAKER into office……THIS MUST BE STOPPED AT ALL COSTS>>>> I would gladly give my life defending my rights and your rights as American citizens. I do not condone violence or murder or any other of Gods commandments being broken but I certainly wouldn’t loose any sleep to see the problem made to dissapear in any manner required to save our country! May God save our souls and country and condem those to Hell who knowingly attempt to sell our country and her people out.

        • Angelicsweep

Kimbo, you are spot on. I think we need to adopt the laws of Mexico itself on immigration. Our immigration “laws” pale in comparison but you hear literally nothing on this! If you want to live in Mexico legally, you have to PROVE you have a job there to support yourself, you can not apply for any public assistence, you can not own any land and the list goes on of “you have to PROVE” and “you can nots”. You see any of THAT in OUR “laws”? So why was Mexico griping about the Arizona law????

          • http://n/a cactusbob

It would do no good for the U.S. to adopt the same immigration laws that Mexico has. We already have adequate laws now. But the wimps in charge of enforcing them won’t do their job. If we had Mexico’s laws, we’d just ignore them, too. We need a President Brewer in office!

          • Ruby

I know you know this, but for those who don’t seem to get it…Mexico doesn’t want us enforcing illegal immigration laws because MX illegals send most of their earnings to their families in MX; thus, aiding their economy. That’s aside from the free $$ our federal government sends the MX government. Ludicrous.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

We have laws addressing this, just our federal government doesnt want to enforce them, all clamoring for the hispanic vote. Thats all they care about, votes. However, they cant see the forest because of the tree’s. If they address it, and shut this down, the person that does this would garner an awful lot of votes. The national drive by media doesnt present that, as they dont report the truth, but that is what would happen. That person would win an election in a landslide, because thats what the majority of American’s want. We actually see and understand the danger of letting Mexico send their criminals and diseased in here, and letting Al Quaida and everyone pass through there for the right amount of money. Its high time to shut it down. Shoot know, ask questions later.

          • PatR

I have lived in Mexico for 5 years and what you say about Mexican immigration laws is NOT correct. As an immigrant I am allowed to own property here, with the exception of within 50 kilometers of the beach or along the US/Mexican border. If I want to buy property in any of these places (like the Pacific coast) it is put into a trust of which I would have autonomous control. For the most part, immigrants are not allowed to work in Mexico if that job would take away the job for a Mexican national. Saying that, there are many US citizens who work at jobs or own businesses in Mexico with the blessing of the government. Particularly if that job or business helps the local economy. One must prove to the government that they have enough income coming into their bank account each month to support themselves, so as to not be a drain on the Mexican economy. If I am found to be in Mexico illegally, I would be jailed for a time and deported. Mexican immigration laws are MUCH tougher than US immigration laws. It seems that the US has sown it’s own seeds of destruction by not passing tougher laws.

Part of the reason so many Mexicans cross the border illegally is that getting a US visa is often a years-long process (3-10 years) and costs several thousand dollars. Many illegals only want to work to make their family’s lives better in Mexico, with no intention to stay forever. Most want to eventually go home to Mexico and live out their lives in better conditions that they had before they crossed to the US.

When you really think about it, the illegals are not as big a drain on the US or states economy as the media would have you believe. Most illegals pay rent and in states where property taxes pay for public schooling you can bet that property tax is included in their cost of rent. Many pay into SS and have taxes withheld from their paychecks. An illegal would NEVER put in for a deserved refund of state or federal taxes and will NEVER use their paid-for SS at retirement. That’s billions of dollars being paid into government coffers that will never be returned to those who paid into the “system”. The media and liberal/conservative factions don’t want you to come up with the truth by looking at the facts. They want you to believe the “facts” they put out, being assured that most Americans won’t use their brains but just regurgitate “party” line.

I don’t believe the US government really wants to stop illegal immigration. After all, who would pick the grapes and lettuce, sheet rock their houses or cook their restaurant food–all at a wage that Americans wouldn’t even consider. And abandon the billions overpaid taxes and SS. Since most illegal immigrants come to the US to better the lives of their family’s in Mexico, not allowing the wiring of money from the US to Mexico would stop illegal immigration in a heartbeat.

        • Fed Up Gal in NM

You hit the nail on the head. As far as I’m concerned, every border state should deport illegals…….not back to Mexico, but to all states who bad mouth Arizona’s decision and/or keep mouthing off about boycotting Arizona. Let those states pay more in taxes to feed and clothe, to provide medical care and shelter (and in many cases, room and board at the city, county and state detention centers), and pay more taxes to pay for additional security while they themselves sit in gated communities feeling like they are safe.

My own state (NM) and it’s worthless “leader” Bill Richardson is doing squat (IMO) to help the situation. I’m so excited….can’t wait for another “lightning” tax to go into affect…to pay for the illegals to detour to NM (even more now). What an absolute crock many elected officials seem to have aspired to be (maybe conspired is a better choice of words).

Before anyone gets the idea, I’m only anti-Mexican illegals….get a clue… makes no difference which direction illegals come from…if they are not a U.S. citizen….we should give them 2 relocation choices….back to their native country or other county they have “legal” citizenship in….or to any U.S. state not supporting AZ’s right to protect it’s own citizens.

      • Kimbo

“…beacon to the world’s poor and oppressed” ???? Do we want to be a beacon to the world’s poor and oppressed? And don’t give me that line about it’s on the Statue of Liberty. Read the whole story. Personally, I feel everyone should bring something to the party. No more mooches and whiners.

        • Dan Burke

I don’t care if all they bring is a good work ethic NO skill set whatsoever. I am in IT, and I can show someone who is willing how to put RAM in a motherboard, load Windows, and even some rudimentary troubleshooting. And lets not forget all the migrant workers who do manual labor on farms, etc. What I do want is LEGAL immigration. Not illegal. Enforce the law. If it is flawed, fix it. But first, you must enforce the law or we are no longer a nation of laws. And as much as we treasure freedom, freedom is found by obeying God’s Laws. Man’s laws are usually imitations of Natural Law but we do need them, and we need them enforced. Maybe someday we’ll get our laws into perfect harmony with Natural Law, but we sure seem determined to go in the opposite direction, from a state of laws and freedom to a state of anarchy and tyrrany.

          • Bell

Freedom is found in following God’s law? I’m sorry, but freedom is found in freedom. It is protected by reason, and objective law. It is not “bestowed” upon the chosen ones of any nation. We had a large degree of freedom due to the MEN who founded this country in the ripeness of the Enlightenment. Political scientists in the truest sense.

Thank “God” they didn’t found a theocracy.

No, Flashman, you and your Liberal buddies have brought us to this level. Barbarians pillage and steal. What do Liberals do? Pillage and Steal. Bush was no conservative, but as we regularly see, the Liberals think so. Of course, next to Attila the Obama, Lindsey Graham looks Conservative.

Liberal Buddies? ~ Is that the only way your mind can think?

Liberals have little to do with it. ~

Out of the last 30 years , 22 were GOP administrations.

Administration that were hostile to “labor” and labor issues.

As long as there is an “abundance” of labor, driving labor cost down. the GOP and their blind supporters “see no labor issues” and harbor no plans to address immigration reform regardless what they say or do!

Cheap non-voting labor suits them and they will be dis ingeniousness with any plans to change status quo while blaming the democratic for the failure.

43 gave us a nice fence made of weathering steel erected by Mexican day labor. Inside of 6 months the Mexicans were playing Evil Kanivel, using car carrying trailers as jump ramps to fly over it.

The answer to the problem in in Mexico.

          • 45caliber

During the last 60 years about 54 of them were DEMOCRAT Congresses. And the President can’t make any law. Congress does. You really should keep that in mind. And you might ask yourself: “Why do we have so many GOP Presidents and so many Democrat Congresses?”

I’m sure it’s not due to the fact that the entire population votes for President but specially gerrymandered districts vote for Congress.

          • barbara

If I recall correctly, in 2006 the Democrats took over Washington and Bush was over ruled on every thing. They tied his hands and called the shots. That tax break he gave to every one was to help boost a sagging economy that was starting to go south be fore Bush got into office. Any one in the home building business started to feel it coming. An attack on the towers escalated what had already been started in 1993 at the same site. Don’t blame Bush for all of it. Going back further, the no new taxes Bush was also held hostage by the Dems when they forced a pork barrel laden insert to a request for money for the troops. I also currently feel that they are padding a terrible budget with the expectation that the Repubs will inherit and fall flat on its face doing so. This mess has long been calculated and one does not need a fortune teller to reveal that there are to be no fortunes as the feds have their plans for it.

          • DaveH

“Administration that were hostile to “labor” and labor issues”?
Why shouldn’t they be? You are hostile to “ownership” issues. You would like it if you decided your gardener wasn’t doing the job, so you let him go and then the next day you find a picket line harassing you and any new potential gardeners that would do the job? Unions use force and coercion to extort the owners of the companies and any other potential workers who would do the job better and cheaper. Are those workers not human? Do they not deserve a job?
Of course the Democrats would ignore this lack of morality. They also ignore that it is somebody else’s money they help themselves to when they redistribute the wealth.
I prefer the morality of Free Markets where the consumers, workers, and company owners all interact with voluntary actions, absent the force of Government meddlers.

And almost every GOP president, the democratic congress handcuffed them and did their all to screw things up, to do what they do best, point the finger and place blame. However, Ronald Reagan outsmarted them and made things work. George Bush outsmarted them and made things work, until the last year and a half when every business in the country knew the usurper was coming, and shut down some to save money for the tax monster in waiting. Its all true. Bill Clinton sold us to China and Mexico, and cut our military and intelligence in half and left us vulnerable, thus causing 9-11 and the bank collapse. But I guess you forgot about that. Carter formed the Dept. of Energy, you know, to get us off foreign oil, only all these years later, we use more now than we ever did, and there are some 280,000 people employed by this government agency, with another couple hundred thousand being contracted by them. Yes, we are all paying for that democrat thing also. Now Obama the usurper, wants NASA to develop muslim relations, he gives lawyers to muslim terrorists caught trying to kill us. He imprisons our own soldiers for fighting to keep us safe. He sues Arizona to keep the border open so more muslims and other illegal aliens can enter the country to do their harry carry acts. He lets oil run all over the gulf, while doing nothing but hampering the clean up efforts, then blames Bush for it, when everyone knows that well didnt even start drilling until Feb. 2010, well over a year after Bush was gone. It was on his watch, and he was sleeping. They havent a clue. They just do what the old liberal matra does, and that is pull up the soap box, climb up on it, and point fingers and place blame, but offer nothing at all to make things better. Its always someone else’s fault, but God forbid they try to be the solution, and instead are a big source of the problem.

      • rjwaldron

hflashman what planet are you living on. Planet progressive? The right wants us to live as barbarians? That is just stupid! Since Obama got into office he has done more damage than the right did in the last 20 years to our country. Socialized health care, insane national debt, failed socialist euro policies like cap & trade… Who wants us to live like barbarians? The right which promotes free trade and economic stability and growth or the left and socialism. Maybe you should move to Cuba. You’d like it better there!

        • hflashman

to the GOP, that’s what they’ve given us. Wrecked economy…I will again refer you to the GOP who wrecked it. higher taxes…once again, ask your GOPer about why they screwed us (facts are the numbers on all taxes added up…skyrocketed under the GOP), two unfunded wars, wealthy get subsidized, and our energy policy is oil dependent and we have to suck up to the Mid East (remember them, the guys Bush kissed in subservience …which is different than a diplomatic bow).

Only the truly ignorant or programmed places blame for the situation today on anyone but the GOP.

          • Angelicsweep

You can not argue with idiots, which you have proven! Bush is NOT in office now, the bummer is! This is HIS watch and the spending you blame on BUSH was actually brought on by the LEFT taking over Congress in the last two years of Bushs term! Wake up! Under Bush the jobless rate was at 4 percent…what is it NOW? The REAL numbers are at 17% and higher in places, not the 10+ the media likes to paint. AND there is no relief in sight. The spending is beyond anything Bush ever dreamed of and the bummer is not interested in creating jobs…that is not part of his socialist agenda. I agree with others who said you would love Cuba…so why don’t you see about going there? Fidel is one of the bummer’s heroes!

          • Bob Wire

Can’t say I blame you for not wanting to remember 43′s administration.

But the effect are and will be “long lasting”.

Until which time we manage to regain so sense of a stable economic climate,we are here to help you with that “short memory problem”. I suggest you get use to it.

He was “your guy”! You chose him as “Our leader” ~ now we’ve chose another. ~ Perhaps you might afford us the same courtesy?

            I didn’t think so.

          • 45caliber

            Bob Wire:

Respect is due where respect is earned. You insist that we should respect Oblama since he was elected by you. But you don’t believe you should respect Bush because he was elected by us. I don’t believe either man should be respected unless he earns it – and so far Oblama hasn’t shown me any reason to respect him.

Now that doesn’t seem quite right. If you can disrespect Bush and talk bad about him, why can’t we do the same for Oblama? Particularly if we don’t get as carried away trying to describe him?

          • Coservative at Birth

To ignore all of the facts is ignorance. One, must surmise that you are an ignoramus.

          • Shasta

you are totally making a fool out of yourself, i read what you write and wonder if you are obama’s love child or something. please go checks some facts in history and dont come back in here until you are properly educated, unless you like being embarassed

          • Bell

This is ridiculous. They were both bad presidents. Why are you playing a game of “Well your guy was bad TOO!” The fact is Bush was a neo-conservative, ideologically descendent of progressive thought, and Obama IS implementing more democratic socialistic programs as well as dwarfing the evil’s done by Bush. They were both horrible, you can’t say that Bush was bad so it’s okay that Obama is further destroying this country. In fact they both are “pragmatists” and “progressives”, Obama is just openly trashing our country whereas Bush and all modern Republicans backstab us.

Also. Economic stability is not the government’s job. It’s job is to protect individual rights. It is only classic liberalism that defended the original American ideals- and it’s name is now destroyed by synonymity with the Democratic progressives who hi-jacked it in the 19th century. Conservatives never were the protectors of American ideals, and so far they have proven that quite clearly.

          • wayne a

HFLASHMAN,you’re somewhat of an idiot!FACT:our deficit has tripled since obuma has taken office,it is now at 14 trillion dollars!the largest deficit in our history!

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Ill put up Reagan and Bush’s economies against Carter, Clinton, and Obama’s anyday. Carter totally sucked, Clinton used smoke and mirrors by destroying our military and intelligence communities, along with lying about everything and anything, cooking the books like nobody’s business, and Obama has it in the tank. Yeah, your foot is in your mouth. Of course, thats just the facts, but you liberals cannot and will not deal in facts. The truth is far from you.

          • Linda

You got to be kidding! I am a registered Democrat and even I know that is not true! Do your research! I am sick of the Democrats blaming the Republicans for everything that goes wrong. Everyone knows how bad in debt our country is and getting worse. Not everyone is racist either. Obama is doing a bad job and facts are facts.

        • Bob Wire

“The right which promotes free trade and economic stability and growth or the left and socialism. ”

After 22 years of this “promoting” ~ can you please direct us to where it might be found other then in the pockets of special interest, and their supporting industries?

Am I to assume you think you represent middle class Americans? I have little doubt things must be good at “your house” if you see benefits of all these “promotions” for many us us fail to see them.

We have ignored infrastructure, we have ignores an encompassing energy policy. We have ignored rising health care cost. We have ignored labor issue, for are long as there is an “abundance” there is no issue. We have ignored back door lobbyist! We have became use to seeing strange men walking out of our house as we casually mention to the wife, who was that man?

Your picture of things just don’t match mine! I’m sure this can be explained by different points of view. ~ The only question being which best reflect the bulk of Americans, mine or yours.

          • 45caliber

You mean you aren’t “promoting” the left and socialism in your comments? It certainly appears that way to me.

          • Allan

So, let’s say the November elections result in either the House or Senate majority, or both changing. How would that affect your thinking? I suspect that no matter what happens, if Republicans were to win majorities, win the Presidency in 2012, grow the economy, fix illegal immigration, whatever, that you will continue to desire a big, cradle to grave government that tells you what is correct to think and do. Am I wrong?

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Well under Reagan, I flourished. My business I worked for flourished. Under Bush, my pay doubled. My business flourished. Under Obama, after 1 stinking year, we had to lay off 20 people, and I took a 10 percent pay cut. Im thinking the proof is in the pudding. I see good things ahead, right around 2012. Until then, we will scrape and get by, and wait for this loser to be gone. And gone he will be.

        • 45caliber

Actually flash reminds me of my little brother when we were small. “But he did it so that means I can do it too!”

It didn’t matter if what I did was right or that I got punished for what I did; it was the point that he could also do it. And that seems to be the main mantra of the liberals right now. “Bush did it and now you don’t want Oblama to do it too? Why not?”

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

          Bush/Cheney/Halliburton, Bush/Cheney/Halliburton, Bush/Cheney/Halliburton, Bush/Cheney/Halliburton, Bush/Cheney/Halliburton.
It seems that is all they bring to the table, is to blame, blame, blame. Where are their solutions? Where are their plans? Where is their course of action? Bush/Cheney/Halliburton. Thats all they got, and thats why they arent doing a damn thing. They got elected on placing blame, built up by the liberal left wing media, and that is all they still do, is point fingers and place blame. No solutions, just part of the problem.

      • Jerry D

It’s barbaric not to protect the citizens of you own country. It’s also barbaric to stand in the way of those who do. It’s barbaric to continue to let our young men and women die for the sake of oil. It’s barbaric to destroy our once great nation, as Obama is trying to do, and turn it into a third world country. It’s barbaric to steal money from those who have worked hard for it and give it to those who are either too lazy to work or too lazy to get out and get some training. While I had no great love for bush, I have nothing but loathing for Obama and his barbaric regime.

        • 45caliber

          I agree with you.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I have a really hard time with the part, about working my butt off, then seeing a bunch of dudes hanging around on their buddies front porch, day after day, week after week, month after month, and now Obama has made it able to do it for a year and a half, just sitting around smoking cigarettes and pot, and drinking 40′s, while collecting welfare, unemployment, food stamps, W.I.C., and other government handouts, that all come from the tax money they take from me for working. Im sick of it, and all this guy has done, is expand welfare, expand food stamps, expand unemployment, raise my taxes. So that the lazy who refuse to work, can continue to be dependant on the government, so that the democrats can get their votes. When will it stop?

          • Val

It will hopefully stop BEFORE the well runs dry. I’ve often thought the same thing. I have concluded that most people who defend illegal immigration are either non taxed citizens (you can be taxed, but then collect more in govt. benefits than you pay into the system for, therefore you are not being taxed) or they are consorting with illegals, either hiring them or (not wanting to be crude)involved in some other way. It’s very easy to be noble and giving when it’s off of the backs of others who must foot the bill. And Bob, some police will abuse their authority with SB1070, but then some cops will abuse authority PERIOD. Does that mean we should ignore ALL laws due to the abuses or potential abuse that could be incurred by police who are enforceing those laws?? PLEASE! Now that everyone carries cameras, why are so many concerned about ABUSE?? I got an idea!!!! Carry your I.D. AND a cell phone that takes pictures/records and that is about all the protection that law abiding citizens will need under most circumstances.

      • Karlly

Bull! Bush protected us from having thousands of radical extremists sneak into the USA. Had Clinton been thinking with the brain on top of his head, he could have stopped a lot of terrorist activity, but he was too busy being a “good ole boy.” Exactly where do you think the terrorists would have gone had we not gone to Iraq and Afghanistan to fight them over there? Hello, they are radicals and will stamp out us infidels. They don’t play nice and they don’t play by the rules. You people who are against war need to wake up and get real. This is a crisis in the world today. Islam is aiming to take over the world, whether you like it or not. Use common sense people!

        • eddie47d

Saddam was a dictator and dictators don’t allow opposition in their country and that included al Qaeda. So these terrorists wouldn’t be there anyway. Afghanistan was run by tribals governments and almost no national government.alQaeda got in there rather easily. Now we are fighting the Taliban and al Qaeda went to other countries. We’re very awake and sick of your maddening wars. Before too long you’ll have us in Somalia again. Maybe Uganda or Yemen. How about a full invasion of Pakistan? I think you need to get real in what we can do and what we can’t do.

          • American Citizen

Oh, but they were there, he even helped (or his people did) train them. He was a monster who needed to be taken out. He hated the U.S. so much, he was trying to go nuclear. What do you think his plans were?

          • eddie47d

It was proven Saddam had no capabilities of going nuclear-pipe dream, maybe.

          • ROBERT CORUM

Eddie, Saddam DID have the capabilities, WHICH IS WHY THE U.N. WENT IN TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD FIND (and even reported that Iraq wasn’t cooperating). Saddam had a reactor that he was putting together that he got from France when Israel built it, and he had biological weapons that WE GAVE HIM during the Iran, Iraq

          • ROBERT CORUM

Eddie, Saddam DID have the capabilities, WHICH IS WHY THE U.N. WENT IN TO SEE WHAT THEY COULD FIND (and even reported that Iraq wasn’t cooperating). Saddam had a reactor that he was putting together (that he got from France) when Israel built it, and he had biological weapons that WE GAVE HIM during the Iran-Iraq war. AND, if you check your history AT ALL, AL QEADA DID HAVE SOME OF THEIR GUYS THERE, AND WHEN BUSH ANNOUNCED HE WAS GOING TO INVADE IRAQ SADDAM STARTED HAVING THEM KILLED TO TRY TO “MAKE NICE” TO KEEP US FROM INVADING!!! You should check on your facts before you make such statements.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Clinton had no cahoonies. He let them kick us and kick us and kick us, and did nothing. They saw us as weak. Bush had enough, and kicked the living crap out of them. Now the usurper and his boys are back tracking and letting them off the hook, in an attempt to make it come out bad, so they can blame Bush. Thats all they are interested in. They have gotten off the course that was set, and now we are having more of our soldiers killed than ever, because the damn democrats want and need America to fail, to make themselves look good. They cant have it come out good, or Bush will look good, and they cant have that. They are indeed, anti Americans, where they put their own power and welfare in front of that of this great nation. Even a lot of their own followers are seeing this and fleeing them. But there are the die hard followers, who are so uneducated, they let the national media tell them how it is, and they believe them, because they havent taken the time to look into things, and find out what reality really is. Had not Bush kicked these guys in the shorts, we would have been fighting them on our soil real soon. And the way Obama the usurper wants to keep the borders open, so his muslim buddies can come in, we may end up doing that anyhow. 2012 please hurry up. Its time for these loser’s to go. All they can do is point fingers and place blame. They offer no answers, no solutions. Just blame. Its sick and its old and worn out. Time for them to go bye bye.

We were the beacon of the world that allowed lawful entry into our country not illegals. I know that word is big one for you it means not lawful no rights no nothing. HFLASHMAN,were we attacked after 9/11 after we started our(so-called)barbarian ways?

Here is ANOTHER person that instead of looking for the truth, making sure what the truth is, all he/she does is believe every lie they get told (without thinking about it for EVEN 1 SECOND!!), and then tries to tell everybody else that it’s the truth!!! Want to know how we got where we are? THE DEMOCRATS DID IT!!! (DUMB ASS!!!!) If you even asked yourself for a second “How did Bush do it, what did he get for it, how did he do it so where NO ONE saw or had a clue….. THEN YOU’D START TO GET THAT HE DIDN’T DO IT!!!”
If you even back track to when this started you’d see that!!! What do you all think Congress and the Senate does, NOTHING? Aren’t THEY the ones who run everything ‘inside’ of this country? Isn’t that where all of the oversight committees are? (that are supposed to MAKE SURE this doesn’t happen- EVER???) Well???? And why did Obama GIVE ALL THOSE THAT DID PULL THIS ECONOMIC COLLAPSE “10′s OF BILLIONS TO JUST STICK IN THEIR POCKETS?!?!!!!” (AIG, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan….) Shouldn’t have Obama HAD THEM ALL LOCKED UP AND THROWN THE KEY AWAY THE DAY HE GOT IN OFFICE???- But what did he do, HE SAID WE HAD TO “BAIL ””THEM”” OUT!!” (NOT “US”- “THEM!!!”- JUST AFTER THEY JUST RAPED THE COUNTRY BLIND!!!!) Why are we bailing THEM out, AREN’T “THEY” THE ONES WHO JUST BARELY COLLAPSED THE COUNTRY???!!!! (I knew that AS SOON AS THEY SAID “BAIL OUT”- I knew SOMETHING WAS COMPLETELY JACKED, but couldn’t tell right away “Who was involved, etc., etc…”- Bush just got caught in it right as he was supposed to leave office, which is why he bailed 1 out- he got talked into it- then he said “HELL NO, F- THEM!!!” TO THE REST AND LEFT IT FOR THE DEMS!!!- since THEY are the ones who preplanned and set it all up!!!!)
Yea, they got Bush once on that (with Baer Sterns- but he let Lieman Bros hit the dirt when he saw that it was all a scam!!), BUT OBAMA REWARDED THEM ALL FOR IT!!! Now why is that? Has anyone looked up how Cheney and Rove tried to stop it by first trying to stop Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac from running that real estate scandal that they were running??? (that was going to put ENDLESS AMERICANS OUT OF THEIR OWN HOMES IN JUST A FEW YEARS!!!) Has this person EVEN THOUGHT OF LOOKING INTO THAT???- But the dems had ALL OF THE IDIOTS IN THIS COUNTRY CONVINCED THAT THE PLAGUE OF 1812 WAS BECAUSE OF BUSH (and every other thing since Adam and Eve), SO THEY GOT CHASED RIGHT BACK OUT OF CONGRESS (with the dems screaming “You aren’t the President of ‘everything’, you don’t run or control everything there is”…), so Cheney and Rove just left, but Cheney said as he left “Then it’ll be on your heads when this all comes down”, and Pelosi said “So what, and it wont come down”…
“””IF””” you start to ACTUALLY LOOK FOR THE FACTS “AT ALL”, “THEN” YOU START TO SEE WHAT IS REALLY WHAT AND GET THE “REAL PICTURE!!!” Otherwise you’re not going to be anything other than one of the dumbest people on the planet, getting lied to at every turn, AND BELIEVING EVERY LIE BECAUSE YOU DON’T WANT TO MAKE SURE ABOUT ANYTHING, “JUST BECAUSE ‘THAT IS EASIER’,” which will ALWAYS make you THE DUMBEST IDIOT ON THE PLANET!!! Bottom line fact!!!! (just like a cop that arrests a dead girl’s body right as he breaks in and sees Ted Bundy on top of her BECAUSE “HE SAID” “Oh, good thing you showed up, she almost killed me and raped me, you showed up just in time!!!”…)

Great answer…let’s copy a Third World country. Why not? That’s what the GOP and Bush have led us to…

        • George E

Mexico’s immigration laws are a pretty good basis for comparing the fairness of our immigration laws with them. It may be a good thing for us that they have strict laws and enforcement against illegal immigration. Otherwise, the flood of illegal immigrants coming from Central and South America could overwhelm our country.

          • http://personallibertydigest robert williams

          • George E

Good point, Robert. I also believe many Americans will take almost any work they can get to pay their bills and survive when given a chance. One other thing you didn’t mention, however, is that Americans drawing unemployment would have to give up that income to take those minimum wage jobs, unless the employer was willing to pay in cash…… Thanks.

Yes, you, really are stupid. I knew it. Who is trying to lead us to socialism and constantly comparing us to european countries and telling us we dont compare. BULLSHIT! WE have been a world leader for longer than Ford motor company has made cars. We have literally taught the world. Citizens from England don’t get to keep very much of a paycheck. Why? Because they have free, or close to it,health care. THey also have VAT. Most of us do not want to be like the rest of the world, we still want to influence it. Why do Canadians need to smuggle tv’s,sterios, cell phones, and other personal goods, into Canada? Because they get things for free from their government! LMAO Nothing is free idiot and never will be. Start to follow us, the conservatives, and you might be able to save your standard of living.

A few years ago and maybe even now Americans were buying medicines from Canada and several other foreign countries. They also went overseas for surgeries because our capitalist system gouged the heck out of our citizens. So get off your anti-socialist soap box. Embrace what works and improve what needs changing.

          • George E

We’ll see how well government-run healthcare works in this country pretty soon. If other government programs are any example, we’ll find that our healthcare is going to be poor quality and/or poor availability and/or too expensive. The government isn’t equipped to design or manage an efficiently run operation like healthcare. Unfortunately, now that we’ve taken this step, we can’t just back up or change directions easily. When you don’t like your insurance program, you can change, but when you don’t like a government-run program, you’re pretty much stuck with it. Thank you very much!

        • rwnut

hflashman…And that’s what Hussein building upon,a third world country.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Get over it allready. Bush has been gone for almost 2 years. Deal with the failures of the Obama admin, who has us in danger and in dire straights. Bush is gone and past, and he isnt coming back. So its time to deal with the responsibilities of the here and now. Its time for the usurper to close the borders, to round up the illegals and send them back. Its time for the usurper to get back on course in Iraq and Afghanistan, and quit making us lose so many of our precious young men and women just so his democrats can look good. Stay the course and win the damn thing, and quit doing all he can to make it fail, so to make the other party look bad. Thats all he is doing. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to figure it out. He is putting his political party and their power in front of what is best for the United States of America, and that should be all the voters need to see to make up their minds in the elections in 2010. These guys are dangerous. To put themselves and their political aspirations in front of what is best for America, says volumes about what kind of losers this current admin is. Its time for them to go.

      • George E

Well said, and to the point!

    • Hugh Jordin

Illegal immigration is eating away the marrow of this country and needs to be addressed seriously and effectively. Politicians on both sides need to wake up.

Now the worst elements are following the sad people who came here to find a new life. They were not invited and need to go home.

Although I am sympathetic to the plight of some, they came here knowing that it was illegal. I am more sympathetic to Americans whose hospitals are closing because of illegals taking advantage of our system. I am more sympathetic to taxpayers footing the bill for educating students who do not belong here and whose kids get a less than optimum education because of being crowded out by illegals. And most of all I am sympathetic to Americans who have to “push one for English”.

The south western states are part of the US and not “occupied Mexico” as some perceive.

If I am asked to show my id to prove I am a citizen I will do so proudly. This should be true of ANY citizen no matter what ethnicity. If you are a citizen, what is the problem? Stop whining about profiling.

      • Val

        Well said

    • jomama

As long as NOBODY enforces these laws – nothing will happen to President Barack Hussain Obama. He’s an illegal alien & HE KNOWS IT!!! So if all the illegal aliens get amnesty/citizenship – so will he. He lies. He’s corrupt. He is EVIL!!
Also – John Myers is absoloutly RIGHT when he said “Federal immigration laws are color blind.”
So – where is the racism again when Americans want these laws enforced???
Right – there is NO racism involved in this at all.

  • dan of arizona

very good story with the latest news of all of the house republicans and a hand full of senate standing in the way of obumer is very good news to my ears but knowing that jan brewer is going to lose her standing i’m depressed she alone could have taken him down

    • marvin

dan of arizona, dan you give up to quick, the fight has only begun missouri[has a law passed in 2008] like the arizona law and they enforce it and a couple more state have similer laws and 11 or 12 are in process of passing immigration laws last count i had jan brewer had over $500,000 in donations, so donate for a good cause to defende a states rights to protect it citizen if you think like reid when he said the war is lost you will lose, never give in never give up we can win, obama and holder are not gods just ever day liberals that are never broke as long as you have money

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Jan Brewer and the good of America is going to win in this. Obama and his muslim buddies are going to lose. He is clearly in the wrong, and any America loving American can clearly see it.

  • eyeswideopen

John, you were breaking the law and somehow in that conservative logic, that was ok!! Your situation is why we have laws and an appeal system to insure that when mistakes are made they can be righted. However you chose to stay and break the law, you are no different than those other illegals, many who could have similiar stories of injustice such as yours. Point is that you didn’t respect our laws or the INS. Do you still pick and choose which laws you will obey?? Just how did you raise your children?? It is ok to break the law, as long as you think you are in the right and can hide from the law, obey most of the other laws so you don’t get caught. The conservative mantra of “illegal is illegal” you should pay the price if you break the law, doesn’t apply for people like you does it?? Wonder why that is?

    • ASGreen

It might be nice if you opened yours and came down from your Moral Mountaintop. You might want to consider these words “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.”

      • Kinetic1

Hard to believe you went with “Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.” If that were the policy around this site the comments would be cut in half (or more).

As for Mr. Myers, I see that, assuming he lives where he works, that he is now back in Canada. This begs the question, did you really want to be an American Mr. Myers? And if you had been stopped for speeding, how likely is it that your immigration status would have been questioned? In fact, if the Arizona law was in place, how likely is it that they would have checked? What “reasonable suspicion” would they have that you are not here legally? I assume you speak English well enough and you’re not wearing anything funny. Remember what Brian Bilbray said,
“They will look at the kind of dress you wear, there is different type of attire, there is different type of — right down to the shoes, right down to the clothes,”

No, as long as you were not wearing “their clothes” and/or driving a car stuffed with non-english speaking Quebecois the police would likely have had no reason to look into your status at all.

      • Angelicsweep

ASGreen, ahhhh, NOW we start quoting the Bible, do we? We have LAWS for a reason, pure and simple. This bible quoting holds no water here. Course, that is what lefties do when they start losing the argument. I suppose that when that fails to gain you any steps, you will pull the race card??? That is what liberals do! Pulling Bible quotes is convient, how long did it take you to find it? I would suggest that you go live for six months on the border in Arizona and then lets see what Bible quotes you have for us!

        • Cheryl

people love to pull out a Bible verse from here or there and fail to take it in the context of the whole Bible. After Jesus said he who is without sin cast the first stone, he then told the woman to go and SIN no more. Jesus was not condoning sin or breaking of the law.

          • rwnut

            Cheryl…You are absolutely correct.

        • eddie47d

Praise the Lord, believe it or not allot of liberals read the bible and actually practice what they preach. There is only one Word of God but people interpret certain verses differently. I’m sure it’s the same for you.

        • Val

Any time the bible is used as a reason to do or not do something it’s because there is not a logical reason in place already, otherwise that reason would be used. Saying “not to caste stones” is detrimental to finding the truth. I suppose we should all just “go along QUIETLY”, right? Alphie, (my fellow non taxed citizen, no doubt)it’s no more THEIR land than a Chinaman’s. We live by the laws and rules of 2010. No country gives back BOUGHT or conquered land to anyone especially when it happened over 200 years ago. I hate ignorant comments like yours.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I do see one big difference you fail to mention. He wanted to be an American. He worked, he paid taxes, and he didnt come here to intentionally sponge off the system, have them pay the hospital bills for the birth of his child. He didnt come here to be in a gang or sell drugs. He didnt come here insisting we speak French Canadian to accomodate him. No, he was here to be an American, to work, assimilate himself and his family into the American culture, and then he did become an American citizen. These illegals you so aptly defend, would like nothing more than to come into your house, string you up and do away with you, take all you have, and live free in your house until they get caught then move on to the next person to sponge off. They purposely sneak in about birth time, so that we can pay the hospital bill for their childrens birth, and so their child is considered a citizen. I think that if your born here illegally, that shouldnt be the case. Thats like saying if I rob a bank, and they dont catch me that day, then its all ok and I get to keep the money and they cant touch me for it. Its the exact same thing. And for you to group John in with these anti American illegal’s coming in these days, shows your ignorance as to what is going on in America. Its people like you that should move to Mexico since you love it so much.

      • Coservative at Birth

Let’s repeal the amendment which was intstituted for African Slaves only.

        • Norman

And just WHAT is that amendment, if you actually know, or are you just billowing more purple smoke for the illegal Obummer regime? Please, spell the amendment out for us, or give us that page in the constitution so we can look it up. You DO have a copy of the constitution don’t you?

          • Andrea

Norman, don’t you know what all of the illegals know, that if you are born here you are automatically a citizen?

          • DaveH

Andrea, that’s not exactly the case. They gain citizenship if they were born in the US to parents legally in the United States. But, it has never been ruled by the Supreme Court whether that also applies to children born in the US to parents illegally in the United States:

          • 45caliber

It’s called the 14th Amendment. Since you said you have your own copy of the Constitution, I’ll let you look it up.

          • marvin

Norman yes i have 2 or 3 copy of the constitution try the 14th adm and read it when the 14th was add we had no illegal problums but we had lots of chilren born to freed black slaves the word slave is not interchangeable with illegals, slaves were forced, some were killed being forced to come here,in your liberal mind is being forced to do something the same as doing it on your own illegally, what your saying is the slave adm is the same as an illegal adm

          • Andrea

Thank you DaveH. I am always happy to learn something new. It would be nice if the Supreme court would rule on it but in the meantime we are stuck paying for all these people who made it here ‘just in time’. It is nice to learn from someone who does their homework.

          • Coservative at Birth

Norman, It is the XIV Ammentdment ratified on July 9, 1868. This was not meant to be applied to illegal aliens entering this country and granting their children citizenship because they are born here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And yes, I carry my pocket copy of the Constitution with me at all times.

          • wayne a

he’s talking about the 14th,that was originally wrote for the children of slaves, not illegal’s kids

        • Andrea

I am surprised you know that but it is true. The founding fathers had an eye toward freeing the slaves and since that is no longer part of the equation we should repeal that law.

          • Coservative at Birth

Not repeal, clarify would be better. After you read it, you will understand what I am getting at.

          • LocalYokel

Not so fast with the repeal. Some slick lawyers are very interested in getting back pay for all those descended from imported slaves. Don’t expect them to stop trying since they milked native Americans descendants for over 100 years. Any Lakota Sioux can warn the slave tribe of the risks involved even when a settlement is in the form of a treaty. Treaties supersede the constitution.

      • http://minnesota MarieElise

hello Beberoni .you are so right .if the illegal aliens wanted to become citizens , they would do it the right way , but their only goal is to not assimilate ,and not change their life except everything free and hope to regain the states of the south for Mexico .!!

        • 45caliber

Actually, their goal is to make enough money to retire on and go back home. They could care less about taking land back for Mexico. Only the La Raza want that – so they can all get rich by being awarded ownership of businesses someone else has built up.

          • Barbara

IF that happened I would burn, what I could not take with me, down to the ground. They could have the ashes.
La Raze is a joke! The Mexican is a mix of Spanish, Negro, native Indian and Chinese. A molly glot of ethnic origins.

          • Coservative at Birth

You may want to enlighten yourself on what they are teahing in Mexican and Southwestern U.S. schools regarding their belief that the Southwestern U.S. was stolen from them, and there is an organized program to invade this country and demand amnesty so that they can vote.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You are right about the making money and going back part my friend. I worked a summer season in the laborers union here, doing seeding and sodding some 18 years ago. I was the only American, leading a crew of mexican guys, that I found out were all illegal aliens. Their goal was to work here a couple of seasons, take home 15 to 20 thousand dollars, and they would be a rich man there. They could buy acres of land with tons of cattle for 5 thousand bucks, and be wealthy the rest of their days. Now now it is that they can be legally employed, and make good money like that, and not have to pay social security taxes and stuff, I dont know how that works. But I do know this, it still goes on to this day, nationwide, and the unions totally support it.

      • Shasta

        Well said Berberoni….BRAVO!

    • Coservative at Birth

Eyes wide open, or is it mind shut closed? Did you not read the Article. His father was an American Citizen.

      • Frank

He also came here krgally with a work visa which the government refused to renew. He didn’t sneak across the border, just overstayed his visa as has Obummer’s aunt.

    • DaveH

What a ridiculous tirade. But then what else would we expect from EyesWideShut. John was obeying the law to the best of his ability. It was the Government that was bending the law for whatever political reason they chose to harass John. When he came to this country, he was not knowingly breaking any law. The same can’t be said of the illegal aliens.

      • eyeswideopen

DaveH, what a stupid statement. He wasn’t a citizen, and broke the law by not leaving. If he was hispanic would you have the same rational? No!! of course not. You and others like you, just want to obey the laws that you pick and chose. We have a system which allows an appeal process, which is supposed to work for everyone. So funny how you justify his intentional disregard for our laws.

        • max

Your eyes may be wide open but you are blind. Can we all say LEGAL! He came here LEGALLY. It wasn’t his fault that the INS was slow in processing his citizenship while he worked here LEGALLY on his work visa. His father was a LEGAL citizen. Big difference than most Mexicans coming here ILLEGALLY! Do you understand the difference? ILLEGALS cannot hope to start the appeals process while in the country having come here with NO PAPERS…ILLEGALLY!

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Eyes, Im sorry, but you are an ass. You bring racism into this where there was none. DaveH was totally correct, that John did not knowingly or willingly, break the law and sneak into this country, knowing he was breaking the law, and not only knowing, but trying his best to get away with it. Unless you didnt really read the article, you would know that. Your saying that if a guy pulls a gun on me, and we start fighting over it, and it goes off and kills him, that Im as guilty as a guy that walks up to someone with a gun, and without warning, pulls it out and executes them. Your saying both these shooting are murder and the same thing, when they are both totally different, and anyone with a half a brain knows that. You are just spewing your hatred against the truth and everything good, and thats what you do everytime. I have never in my life ever seen a person so filled with grief and hatred as you, and Im wondering what happened in your life to make you so lonely and bitter. Its a shame. It may seem to you that you have no hope, but there is one, Jesus Christ who can help you. All others will fail you, so call on Him, and just maybe with enough prayers on the rest of the peoples part, He may save you from your deep despair.

    • TF

I think the point is that having any law without enforcement is futile. The Federal government just doesn’t like when that fact gets pointed out to them.

    • possum

Yep he was breaking what he thought was the law. Maybe he was and maybe he was not. What he was saying so well I thought was how people get away with breaking the law. I am a former Deputy Sheriff and I never heard the about illegals mentioned. Now this was from 1982 to 2001. What amazes me is 6 or 7 years ago we had about 25 to 30 million illegals. then several years later we had around 20 million illegals. Now Bambam says we might have 12 million illegals. Hard to believe we are gaining over a million a year and the figure is dropping that fast with none being sent away.

    • royallyangry

HE was already paying taxes. HE wanted to be an American. The illegals crossing over NOW … don’t want that. What they want is for US to pay for EVERYTHING for them!

I saw a couple of years ago a very UNGREATFUL woman. She was a Illegal alien in California who just graduated High school, and was throwing the mother of all HISSY FITS because CA wouldn’t PAY for her COLLEGE Education to!

The TWIT (on national TV) stomped her foot on the ground like a PETULANT TWO YEAR OLD BRAT, and whined ….

Well …. I guess I can just ‘look’ at my High school diploma on my bed room wall!

I am so SICK of people who come over here illegally, getting free benefits ……..all the while MY TAXES continue to GO THROUGH THE ROOF!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Sarah Myers

I don’t think you have the right to question my father’s ability to raise his kids. He wanted us to have a proper upbringing in a country with opportunity to give us the best life has to offer. When I hear from haters like you it just goes to show how downhill the country is going. If someone like my dad wants to become a citizen of any country he should be accepted. He works hard and makes a positive contribution to society. If anything America should kick people like you out to leave room for positive go getters.

Stop hating so much and live your life and allow others to live happily at no expense. I was born and raised in America. Do you think that because my dad was illegal at one point I am now shooting up convenience stores and selling myself for crack? No. Have you never done anything illegal in your whole life? I find that hard to believe.

And yes, I was raised to love and respect my parents and others without judging them. Something it seems you sadly never learned.

      • eyeswideopen

Sarah, it is so nice that you can’t even have enough respect for someone else’s opinion, that you have to change my name to show your anger. My moniker is EYESWIDEOPEN!! not eyeswideshut. I am sure you love your father, but that doesn’t mean that what he did was right. Everyone has a story, some more compelling than others, but those same laws apply to all. You cannot arbitrally pick and chose which laws you want to obey. For example, people who smoke weed for medical reasons, do it for pain, however they are still breaking the law and you expect them to be prosecuted when caught. Listen, your father didn’t need you to act like Cheney’s daughter, he can speak for himself. I am not a “hater”, I just expect the laws to apply to everyone regardless of their sad story. When it doesn’t chaos is the result. Sure I have broken the law, difference is, that I don’t critize others for doing the same thing….that is called hyprocrisy. I see your father raised you to believe that if you disagree with someone they should be bannished from the country. Sweetie, I was born here, and my family immigrated 200 years ago, helping to build this country. You on the other hand just got here fairly recently, so why do you think you have the right to judge me and try and remove me from my country? I am a member of the “Daughters of the Republic” which has on record my family history showing their contributions to this country which far outweighs your families history of illegally entering a country. After you have lost family members fighting for this country come talk to me.

        • slickporsche

Eyeswideopen, she has you by the balls man. Shut up and go away,as you messed up big time. Your just like most liberals, rant and rave about nearly everything, like a spoiled child. I cannot hardly believe there is a group of people, that could be as dumb as you liberals, and still be able to survive. Totally unbelievable. You are all like a bunch of lemmings and will follow that stupid black lemming over the cliff.

        • Coservative at Birth

Mind Closed Shut (EWO) I have lost many family members and friends who have fought and died for this country. That does not give you the right to besmirch anyone who wants to make this the country that it should be. You are probably not in tune with most of the people in this country, and maybe you would be happier living in a Totalitarisn Police State like Cuba, Russia, or China to name a few.

        • John Myers

There is no hypocrisy in what I wrote. If would read it you would see that I don’t condemn those that want to come to America. What I do say is that this problem won’t go away until it is enforced, either by the federal government or by local law enforcement.

As for your attacks on Sarah, my daughter, all I can say is that this young woman has the courage to take you on and USE her own name, not hide behind some cleaver moniker.

          John Myers

        • Val

People resort to name calling when they have nothing left to offer. Her dad was wrong to come here illegally, PERIOD.

      • eddie47d

Sarah, Eyes never said he hated anyone. He was just calling John out on this one. If you have been on this site long enough you ought to know your father would have been long gone if they have their way. There are some who would have put a bulls eye on your fathers back and you never would have existed. Go read back issues on immigration and you’ll see what I mean. I say welcome American citizen and may you prosper.

      • JeffH

Sarah Myers, very well said and stand tall and proud. EWO hasn’t been making many appearances lately but one thing is for certain, she is still full of hate…see Cheney comment. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks, but enjoy the times while they are away.

      • Shasta

Sarah, I applaud you and I applaud your Father, he is an HONEST man and does not even begin to fall into the category being discussed here! The ILLEGALS coming into Arizona are not only breaking this number one law, they are commiting heinous crimes and bringing more drugs into our country. The Killing, Kidnapping, Stealing, Rapes, should be enough to shut up the Ignorant minds of the likes of EYESWIDE OPEN that are Blind to all of these crimes. If everyone that came here was more like your Dad, Im sure Arizona would be a great state. Instead its to be feared, and worse than that they are infiltrating into other states. GOD HELP AMERICA

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Eyes lives in the darkness, and satan has his blinders on her. Hate and discontent is all she knows at this point. She cannot see the difference between someone intentionally breaking the law, and someone finding themselves in the middle of something, and making it right. She cannot differentiate between your dad working, paying taxes, assimilating himself into the population, with another who comes here puposely illegally, wants us to pay their way, speak their language, and embrace their culture while forsaking and losing our own. Someone who can see that, is two pronged. Either they just cant handle the truth and are full of hate, or satan has a grip on them so tight that the truth just cannot get through to them. Either way, the light is not in them, and they are consumed by the darkness. So pray for eyes, that she too may have life abundant in the light, and be able to come out of the grips of the cold darkness that embraces her right now.

        Sarah (Myers),

Thanks for your sharing comments in defense of your father!

One of the points I got out of this article was that our government bureaucracies are screwed up. That’s not new news. Most government bureaucracies are screwed up. That’s what needs to be cleaned up. Not a general disregard of our immigration laws to fix this problem.

    • Jerry D

You obviously didn’t read the article. He took the legal route to try to remedy his situation. In the end he was advised to simply sit and wait. If enforcement had come, he would have paid the price. Yes, illegal is illegal. How many illegal things have you done in your life and gotten away with them. We are all a bit self-serving; that’s human nature. But, we are going to see the demise of the greatest country on the face of the earth. It’s turning into nothing more than a socialist welfare state and all of us will suffer; except the elite, of course.

    • LocalYokel

Tell us your position in the food chain of justice Eyes. Maybe you can reveal that you’ve never walked in any other’s shoes to understand that the letter of the law is intended for those in the enforcement thereof and can only be abused by humans in uniform or in robes behind the protection of the bench along with numerous and sundry other officers of the court. The intent of the law is only for application to the accused. Ideology and reality are seldom the same except in mass media and other fiction.

  • John Myers

    Dear Eyeswideopen,

I didn’t say it was okay. I simply said that is what happened.

Was it right? No. Still I choose to stay with my father who lived alone and had cancer. I also choose to stay because I was given that advice by my lawyer, an officer of the court who told me that because the U.S. State Department recognized my father’s citizenship but not the INS, I had in his opinion the right to legal status. That opinion was later backed up by a federal court.

As for how I raise my children, I hope I have encouraged them to love their parents the way I loved mine.

If you notice the headline it says, “Confessions…” This has been mine.

Oh Poppycock You throw plenty of accusations around and often.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Sorry fast eddie, I dont throw accusations, I throw the truth. And if the truth hurts, your probably doing something wrong. But accusations? No. If I point something out and it’s the truth, thats exactly what it is, not an accusation. But Im going to change up, and throw one now. I accuse you of not knowing the truth. Oh wait, that is the truth, so therefore, its not an accusation. Sorry about that.

I didn’t want to outdo you ridiculous comment. Touche!

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Ive got a question eddie, and lets see if you’ll answer it truthfully. One, are you hispanic by any chance? And two, are you legally here? Im sure we all would like to know, so lets see if you can answer these two simple questions.

    • JiimCO

Still, had the AZ law been in effect at that time and the lawyer advised you to flee, probably losing at least your home. Would you still be a supporter of stricter enforcement, knowing that it was your own actions that caused your problems? And considering that you were willing to flaunt some of our laws then, how are we to know that you would have even been a good candidate for citizenship?

      • DaveH

He wasn’t flaunting the law. He just didn’t bend to one government agency telling him that he wasn’t a legal citizen. Don’t you know that just because a lawyer or some other government official tells you that you are breaking the law, that isn’t the final word? That is what courts are for. And the courts did decide ultimately that John was legal. So get over it.

        • DaveH

I personally think John Myers was being overly modest. He shouldn’t have to opened that box, especially knowing that there are numerous knee-jerk Liberals reading this site who love to blow everything a conservative does way out of proportion.
It amazes me that Liberals, who are so disrepectful of their fellow humans as to openly covet their legally acquired wealth, would pretend to occupy the moral high-ground.

      • Jerry D

Go back and read the story carefully. The answer is there. Man, you liberals grab a little bit of one line and lose the truth in the process.

        • eddie47d

You take conservative B.S. and stretch it like taffy until there is no morality left.

          • Doug

Eddie you liberals don’t even know what morality is! You think giving out free handouts make people better, read history look around you and please pull your head out of your Poop Shoot!

          • eddie47d

Doug I think we’re way ahead of you on many moral issues.

          • DaveH

            Name one, Eddie.

          • JeffH

DaveH, there you go again…putting fast eddie on the spot…of course you know there will be no factual response.

          • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Sure eddie, your ahead on moral issues? Are you kidding me? Like sucking live babies out of their mothers wombs? Like putting people who have sex with their own kind up on a pedestal and telling people that its normal to be sexually perverted? Are you serious eddie? Like kicking God out of school and out of government? You on the left are the most immorral lot Ive ever seen in my life. You deny the truth.

          • eddie47d

Wars, peroid! I’m not talking about all Democrats just Liberals.Mr Dave H.

          • eddie47d

Jeff H. Your still my main fool.I’m not on here 24/7 like you are so there will be breaks once in awhile and jobs to take care of. But thanks for being concerned.

    • Delores Smith

I am pleased that everything worked out for you, but saddened that you and your Dad went through so much.
We did not have terrorists sliding through borders at the time that you went through this. Look at the torture you and your Dad went through needlessly.
John, Americans are awake. Obama is trying to instill fear in everyone…but it will not work. We love this nation, and we will make our laws better, reduce the size of government, protect our borders, and stop kissing up to foreign nations. SPEAK OUT AMERICA!
      Delores Smith

      • George E

        Thank you.

    • max

John, i totally understand your predicament. I came here back in 1977 from Canada on a student visa (for 3 years approved) during that time married an american, had a child. We started the paperwork for permanent LEGAL alien status, and it took over 2 years. YEs, my visa ran out, i was here illegally for 6 months and scared to death. But my choices were to leave my husband and maybe my infant and go back to Canada and WAIT till the government got its act together, or stay illegally until the paperwork got sorted out. I stayed. Im not proud of it, but I chose to stay with my family. The difference is I was here legally, trying to do things the right way. Coming here illegally, by sneaking over the border and expecting to be accepted because they made it here? NO.

    • eyeswideopen

John, I will respond to you later, I have a business to run and need to leave. Regards.

      • slickporsche

What is that business? Helping all the illegals?

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Your not a Coyote are you?

I think she runs a strip joint in Tampa.

    • Fed Up Gal in NM

      John (Myers),

Kudos! Excellent article; excellent reply to EYES!

  • Andy in Idaho

For me the big picture in this isn’t about Myers. He has shared his experiences in this confession as a way to point out that immigration laws are failing because they are not being enforced. After all, if the police didn’t patrol the roads almost everyone would speed.

  • s c

Arizona’s new law has the potential to make illegals FLEE the sinking ship. Mental defectives, criminals and progressives will never understand why people get incensed when their government says this and does that – especially when laws that already exist are SELECTIVELY ENFORCED by those who are REQUIRED BY LAW TO ENFORCE ALL LAWS.
He who ‘picks and chooses’ which laws need to be enforced is not a leader. That maxim makes Herr Obummer exactly what he is – an elected criminal. That makes his jock strap supporters what they are – CRIMINALS WHO AID AND ABET OTHER CRIMINALS.
Arizona’s SB 1070 SIEMPRE! At least Arizona ACTS like a leader. As for Washington’s pretenders, willing criminals and elected and appointed vermin, your clock is ticking. Consider FLEEING while you can. Or, stand in the middle of the tracks. Enjoy!

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Here here. I applaud Governor Brewer and Arizona’s attempt to without the law that the federal government has put aside for far too long. Even now, they dont want to enforce it even when it is such a big and expensive and violent problem. To try to fight Arizona’s attempt to enforce the law, shows the anti-Americanism that is evident in this current administration. And in fairness, Im pissed that John McCain has had all these years in Arizona and he hasnt done anything about it. He should have been championing this long ago.

      • Norman

GOVERNOR BREWER FOR PRESIDENT!! Then we could have someone in office that is legal, that would enforce the federal laws instead of ignoring them like the Obummer regime does.

        • max

YEA! BREWER for President! Wouldn’t that Piss off Obama! Im gonna vote for the one that ENFORCES the law!

          • Bob Wire

I think that he’d enjoy that.

            give it a try.

      • DaveH

In the past John McCain has come squarely down on the side of the illegals. He is pretending to be in favor of border protection now only to get re-elected. McCain is no liberty-lover. He is a typical RINO politician and one of the reasons that Republicans have become irrelevant.

Don’t waste your votes on Republicans, they will just prolong the eventual collapse of our country for their own gain. Vote for the only party that really wants to shrink government. Vote Libertarian:

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Ive never cared for John McCain. He says he is a Republican, but I havent seen it. Running him for president was the worst mistake the Republicans have ever made. At a time when people are tired of career politicians, they run the ultimate career politician, that never made it clear what he stood for and what side of the aisle he stood on. That is why we have this left wing liberal usurper in charge. But McCain as I said, should have been doing something about this a long time ago.

      • grizz

I’m stunned too that arizona voters kept re-electing McCain. He obviously wasn’t concerned about illegal immigration, communist mexican miltary making illegal incursions into arizona and commiting murder and mayhem against “gringos.” I hope the arizona voters will vote him out of office and elect one that understands that illegal immigration is overwhelming, counter productive and a communist plot orchestrated by russia long ago. In fact, previous to wwII by stalinist-russia they were infiltrating the US with fake douments of every kind. It continues to this day. McCain is not mentally fit to be a congressman, never was. But, He has so much money he doesn’t worry about illegals coming to his gated community, kicking in his door, kidnapping and murdering he and his family. He’s more concerned about re-election. Vote him out.

        • DaveH

The Republican machine and other big spenders are helping McCain to deluge the Arizona airways with ads. Tell me being a politician isn’t Big Business. That is why the Republican party is becoming irrelevant. They offer little alternative to the Big Spending Democrats.

      • LocalYokel

All true Bebe but——–It’s not usually the first choice in either party under the scrutiny of ranked observers. Incumbency perpetuation outranks representation by a mile. Fickle financial support available in previous campaigns not only disappears but changes parties. Isolation is tough even when retirement is lavishly ludicrous. DaveH has a good point short of voting none of the above.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Like many though, the libertarians dont have a head of steam yet, and pretty much if I place my vote there, the majority of republicans will keep their votes there, so now we split, and the democrats win, and America just cant afford that. Liberalism is killing us, and though the republicans havent showed they can control their spending, I believe what they offer to be far superior to what the democrats offer. The libertarians think tank is excellent on paper, but in the flesh is it still lacking. I would truly like to see them reign in some quality candidates, like get the Mitt Romney’s and such in with them. But it hasnt happened yet, and Ron Paul isnt going to carry them, as when he appears in public like in the debates, he comes across like the whiny little kid that gets bullied in school, and thats not going to win elections.

    • Al Sieber

They have been fleeing Ariz. since the bill was signed.

  • hflashman

Best be packing ID papers when you hit Arizona…as the author has shown, it’s not just Hispanics affected by Ariz. law. It’s you as well, Caucasians. Didn’t matter if it affected Hispanics did it?

Think about that. Packing ID papers becoming mandatory. Not Drivers Licenses…citizenship papers. Pulled over for a traffic violation in Ariz? Best have your papers.

Nice thought eh? We’re joining the ranks of the old USSR and China, and you’re cheering for it. You don’t want to take the fight to the ones breaking the laws with impunity time and again (employers of undocumeted aliens)… nope…which begs the question for you to answer. Why not?

    • Coservative at Birth

Why, exactly are you on, what is obiously a CONSERVATIVE Site? Do you think you can actually influence any one with an ouce of grey matter with your unsubstantiated ramblings?

      • hflashman

LOL … don’t like to hear facts and truth eh? A true Tea partier. I thought this was free speech arena. BTW…I am a Conservative…not wacked, a true Conservative. i.e Scoop Jackson Conservative

        • Bob Wire

yea ! me too! Seems you only what to talk with people that agree with you! Now exactly how is that suppose to work?

You can all agree so you get a reward a prize?

The world doesn’t work that way.

    • Cribster

If you have a valid driveres license there is no need for anything else. If you’re driving without a license then you have some explaining to do citizen or not.

      • Norman

You are wrong cribster. Im Maryland and many other states drivers licenses were distributed to illegal aliens like toys in a crackerjacks box. Having a drivers license doesn’t make you a legal immigrant, it just make an illegal immigrant licensed to drive. (And usually without insurance) Wake up and smell the carnage on the highways and cities that is being created by them. They do their crimes and run back to the shit hole they came from.

        • Cribster

Norman, I was just trying to contradict the hype that hflashman and his ilk are spreading, that AZ is becoming some kind of Nazi state.

Jan Brewer is doing what the feds should have done 25 years ago, enforce the laws and stop the slaughter of innocent Americans by tens of millions of foreign invaders.

        • marvin

Norman, here in alabama we have mandatory veh ins you get stopped three things the cops want dri lic ins card and veh reg,and yes we have road blocks setup by local county and state, you think holder will sue alabama next for some law that the feds won,t enforce like my civil right, but i forgot im not gay or black or hispanic or just plain stuped,so that let me out,but my people were here when the white man came so don,t play the your a racist card

          • http://deleted Robert

As I read this I see “Our People” already here when the White man came as a statement that would be spoken by a person of Indian decent. Not to stur up a whole other can of worms but that in itself is something that is verging on the borderline of racism and is also taxing the hell out of the American’s tax dollars.
My question to you and to the government is how damned long is the “White Man” going to have to pay the Indians who are no longer confined to the reservation and haven’t been for a long time money every year for as long as they live for something our great, great grandfathers were responsible for. You already have rights that the average Joe does not, you were just fortunate enough to be born with a Gov. check in your pocket for life. This is one bill that should not have to be paid anymore, get a job like everybody else and get off the free ride.
Hell, all the “White Man” did to you was put you on a reservation…… the “Black Man” was enslaved, no rights, women and young ladies raped by their owners…. they sure as hell desearved the compensation a lot more than you but they got nothing but eventual freedom….. don’t seem rite….DOES IT?????
But then again, this is not about race, it’s about any and ALL ILLEGAL ALIENS….Japanees,Chinees,Russian,German, etc.etc,etc.
You and I are LEGAL AMERICANS, and humans who bleed Red. All humans desearve to be treated equally as long as they don’t break the law to do so. Come to my country legally, by the book and I will welcome you…. if your ILLEGAL, I’ll do my best to assist you right back out of this country…….

        • Coservative at Birth

In Missouri, you have to present a State issued Birth Certificate (not a hospital birth certificate) to renew or get a drivers license. Maybe this should be done in every state. Check out your state and start calling your legistators.

    • Al Sieber

hflashman, here in Ariz. all you need is your Drivers License, they can’t ask illegals for theirs, but, you better have one. what makes them so special?

      • Al Sieber

Theres no such thing as “papers”. we’ve been discussing the new law for months, where have you been?

        • eddie47d

Everyone says illegals and legals have to have “papers” before they come into this country. Now you say there’s “no such thing as papers”. Which is it?

          • Al Sieber

eddie47d, are you really that stupid? or do you have to work at it? read Ariz. law 1070 and it’ll tell you Az. DL or Az. ID. or are you afraid to learn the truth? or are you gonna just try to shout down people with your ignorance with out the facts.

          • eddie47d

Al ,You still didn’t say which papers non citizen need so please do bring out the facts.

          • Al Sieber

            eddie, a green card.

    • VSP

Dear hflashman, let me assure you, you have no idea what you are talking about. I lived in the USSR for 28 years and nobody EVER checked my citizenship papers. You know why? Because in the USSR it was practically impossible to be illegally, they have been exercising their right to protect their boarders as every sovereign country should. If the federal government was enforcing its own laws, there would have been no need for AZ law.
And it’s total BS that you have to carry your citizenship papers in AZ, a valid driver’s license will do just fine.
Now let me ask you a question, do you think that calling an illegal alien an ‘undocumented worker” is the same as calling a drug dealer an “unlicensed pharmacist”?

      • hflashman

And that is the model you are striving for? The USSR ?

Face facts…not one poster here…NOT ONE…has ever tried to recognize the true lawbreakers and criminals in this issue…those who hire and pay undocumented workers. They stiff us on the taxes, on the withholdings, in every aspect….those who hire undocumented workers are the true criminals…not some poor slob who wants to work.

toss into jail for 30-60 days (sentence not abated on appeal)those who hire undocuemnted workers, the message will get out and they won’t hire undocumented workers. No jobs…no reason to be here.

But then…that’s too reasonale and not an answer filled full of hate and fear.

        • marvin

hflashman you have fell off the sane train, you come on my property[usa] with out permission illegaly you are a criminal if you do not have any documents you are a criminal if you have fake id you are a criminal if someone hires you they are criminals this is all in federal immigration law that are not being enforced, the i robbed a gas station cause i needed gas is just as illegal as i broke the immigration law cause i wanted work, that still won,t make it legal

        • Allan

According to this view, when someone covets something his neighbor has, his neighbor is the true criminal. That is the essence of Communism.

      • marvin

VSP well said and yes to a liberal their is no differance

    • http://yahoo carmelo

i do not understand the comparison with russia and china..
if the law say’s we carry in our person the country’s required identification , carry it. what is the problem.. we are already required to carry driver’s lic.
arizona’s law mirror the fededal law .. the difference is that ariz. instead of the present administration , stepped up to enforce the law.
the present arministration did not want to step up because they knew the reprecusstions if they enforce the law . it will upset their voter’s base . what the present administration is doing is , letting someelse do the dirty work for them, and later pickup all the glory ..

      • Bob Wire

that’s pure assumption on your part and unfounded in any reality but your own.

        • Allan

…and over 60% of Americans at this point.

    • tmaiers

I will be happy to carry my legal status papers when traveling to Arizona and any American citizen would. However you need to read the actual document that Arizona wants to enact. You will only need to worry if you are here illegally. One more item, you need to show your birth certificate,SSI, and other documentation when renewing your drivers license, see a doctor or apply for any government services. I hope this helps; as you need to be informed and if you don’t think Obama wants to seek amnesty to illegals, so he can stay in power and overwhelm the system and have a socialistic society; then I have a beautiful bridge in California for sale; very cheap. Just look around you; the sad state of affairs this country is facing and you will have your answer.

    • Brad

People this guy they are just hacks, he claims to be a business man but we all know he’s just a liberal plant trying to pollute our website with hate and liberal lies. He is a democ “rat” and probably a progressive which are the worst kind, they have no mind of their own and tow the party line, they are such good Stalinists.

My mother came to this country in 1963, married my dad the same year, she was Canadian my dad American. She applied for alien status and was approved, she pays taxes everything that come with the territory as an American citizen except she still isn’t one, and she is a Canadian citizen living in this country legally and registered. She is very proud of Canada but she is also very proud of her host country America, I was born here and I’m a US citizen and have served my country honorably for over twenty years. What have you done in the past twenty years except to destroy our way of life?

Even though this country was built up from immigrants, it’s those immigrants who came here legally, learned our culture, our language and assimilated to the American way of life and became US citizens. hflashman you just don’t get it, we carry some form of ID on us daily, the illegal immigrant won’t not unless their communist state gave them a drivers license. If you drive you have to have a drivers license, then you have to have proof of insurance. So if you don’t drive but want to cash a cheque you have to provide some form of ID like a state ID card w/picture with your verified address.

Today any business owner that hires illegals for work is breaking the law and should be punished and the illegals should be rounded up and deported, that’s our law in this country. You should cross the border into Canada illegaly w/no papers or ID and see how fast you get picked up and deported back home. Try going into a Communist country and see how fast you end up in jail for the rest of your life. You are just mindless hack who’s controlled by the left wingnuts of this country…

      • Brad

        That is hflashman

    • DaveH

What is this obsession you Liberals have with making corporations into the immigration police, Flashman? It is the illegals who are breaking the law. And the government is in charge of apprehending and punishing law breakers.
Actually, you don’t have to answer that. I know that the real reason is that Liberals have an intense dislike for anybody who makes a success of themselves, and they (Liberals) will jump at any chance to harass them.

      • Kinetic1

“It is the illegals who are breaking the law.”
Your right, but so are the employers. It is illegal to hire undocumented workers and yet businesses all over the country are breaking the law to save a buck! We aren’t saying that it’s ok to sneak across the border, but we are pointing out the hypocrisy of those, like you who want to enforce only one set of laws!

We, as citizens of the U.S.A. have a responsibility to uphold our laws. That is the basic argument behind Arizona’s new law. If you support the law, then why would you question the assertion that any employer who knowingly hires an illegal should be held responsible for their actions? Why is it that the corporations are supposed to have the same rights as citizens, but should not be held to the same standards that you and I must live by? If you want to stop the flow of people entering the country illegally you will need to remove the incentives. Building a wall to make it more difficult while taking away medical care and welfare will not be enough.

As long as you can come to this country and find work without legal status, people will come. And as long as we allow employers to get away with hiring illegal workers as a way of reducing the cost of doing business, they will keep hiring. This has nothing to do with hating corporations or small business. This is not about making business leaders suffer for earning more than the average Joe. This is about what is right. This is about a reasoned and logical approach to a big problem. If the guest worker program had been enforced, if businesses had felt it was too risky to hire laborers without cards and workers knew there were no jobs for those without cards, then we would be in a much better place by now.

Does that explain the “obsession you Liberals have with making corporations into the immigration police.”? Well, not really, because we don’t want them to be police, we just want them to follow the law.

      • hflashman

Interesting…someone who wants a job is breaking the law. yet someone who evades paying taxes and hiring American workers is not. Twsited…simply twisted.

I have employees..and each one is legal for employment. I could save a bundle hiring undocumented workers…a bundle. One reeason is because i wouldn’t have to sed withholdings to the feds. Another is lower cost of labor since they’ll work at half wages. And if i did, and the place raided…i’d receive nothing more than a wrist slap.

But then, i don’t hire undocumented labor. No doubt you would …

        • DaveH

I’ll tell you what’s twisted. It’s you ignorant Liberals who will jump at every chance to spend other peoples’ money wastefully. You don’t want to do the hard work and sacrifice that others do to succeed, but you have no problem ganging up on those that do to relieve them of their money.
You happily spend Billions of other peoples’ money on a Big Government that maybe saves people half of what they are paid, if that. If you want to make ignorant investments, do it with your own money.
It isn’t the illegals that are bankrupting our country, it is Big Government. If you want to know where the money is going that you could be earning, just look at the Government expenditures.

      • DaveH

Look up the meaning of Hypocrisy, Ignorant Liberal. I do not preach one thing and practice another. For me to say the corporations should not be made the immigration police is not hypocrisy. You Liberals have no facts to debate with, so you resort to ridiculous name-calling, like little children. Grow up, Kinetic.
Liberals look for any chance to dis Corporate Owners who have made it big through educated risks and hard work. Ah, the politics of jealousy. What would we do without envious Liberals? Maybe have a good life?

    • forgiven87

I am an AMERICAN citizen! I am asked for my I.D. every time I go to the Bank, Grocery store, Hospital, Doctor’s Office, D.M.V., and the list goes on. When ever I do something stupid and get pulled over by a Policeman, guess what?…He asks for my I.D., registration, and proof of Insurance. I have no problem with that!!! BECAUSE…I AM LEGAL!!! I pay my TAXES,in which pays his/her salary! They are doing what I PAY them to do!! As for pointing fingers at Bush, and playing the blame game! I believe Bush to be twice the Man, YOBAMAMAMA will ever dream of being!!

hflashman you are out to lunch,or are you smoking crack ,i do have a drivers lic and to get it the state required my birth cirt and have had id for for over 50 years drivers lic and yes i do have a birth cir, and the police all have computers in there cars takes 15 sec to check you out,i have been stopped for ins and lic checks at random police road blocks and never had a prob, so you say pack your papers, if you have nothing to hide were is your problem or is it you are illegal or hiding something or mabe you are just unamerican an illegal lover that like breaking the law

      • hflashman

Don’t drive. You won’t need a Driver’s License. And there is no law mandating having to show ID to anyone…oops, the unPatriotic Act passed by the GOP and Bush changed that.

Just what I want my country to turn into..a police state. Because some will willingly surrender freedom for ‘safety”. uh huh … great. Nice idea, not free and controlled by the State…

Oh, I forgot, he’s your hero, so you will look the other way.

    • max

What you fail to understand Flash, is that we would GLADLY carry and show the papers while the illegals (ALL of them) are weeded out> if you are legal, no problem. what’s your problem?

    • 45caliber

A news flash for you. I carry ID papers with me wherever I go in the US. It’s sort of required. Try to get by without some. You’ll find yourself in jail the moment the first cop stops you for some minor offense.

and what is so hard about packing your papers, if need be? I would carry mine if that was all it would take to get rid of the pond scum. why do you continually take up for those that are partically to blame for the ruins of our once be Great Country? Do you enjoy seeing the unemployment rate soaring? Do you have taxes taken out of your check to pay for the Illegals medical care? Do you like feeding the Illegals? WELL I DONT, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You are wrong. For one, I dont look like an illegal alien, and if I get pulled over for a traffic ticket, I dont look like I dont belong. See, your mistakenly reading into it something that is not there. It says that if your caught doing something illegal, then at that point they have the right to try to find out who you really are. If you have a problem with that, you need to leave the country immediately. I did get pulled over there, 3 months ago, for a burned out brake light. I got told to get it fixed, and I did. Now if I didnt know how to speak english, then he has every right to make me prove I belong here. If you cant speak english, sorry pal, you dont belong here.

Lets build Army and Marine Bases all along our southern border and SHUT it down. This is a serious threat to National Security. Are you aware of he Iranians and other Terrorists entering Venezuala every other day? They can simply come through out southern border and continue their Jihad for the next Caliphate.

    • blamesomeoneelse

Good call, but it is too late. Do you think anyone that wants to do harm to america was waiting for the ok to enter this country legally? They are here amoung us, waiting to strike. Someone metioned if the police don’t monitor the highway people will speed. The truth is many speed during peak traffic because they know the highway is not being monitored by police. I drive to work 20 miles everyday and I am not slow but I have more than 100 people pass me doing over 80mph. That said being human we do what we beleive we can get away with. The illegals are doing just that. Also their are businesses that sell drivers license and SS numbers to these people. One day you may get arrested for a crime they did and used your information. I can’t understand how Obama thinks this is ok!

      • wasadoc

        Simple–”It’s all Bush’s fault”–That’s his mantra.

      • DaveH

Obama is counting on the illegals to vote for the Democratic ticket.

        • Bob Wire

They already have ! They call them Fort Bliss and Fort Huachuca .

Huachuca was founded in 1913 and home of the First Buffalo soldiers

Fort Bliss is a United States Army post in the U.S. states of New Mexico and Texas. With an area of about 1,700 square miles (4,400 km2), it is the Army’s second-largest installation behind the adjacent White Sands Missile Range. It is TRADOC’s largest installation, and has the Army’s largest Maneuver Area (for practicing military maneuvers) behind the National Training Center. Part of the fort in El Paso County, Texas, is a census-designated place (CDP); it had a population of 8,264 at the 2000 census. Fort Bliss also provides the largest contiguous tract (1,500 sq mi, 3,900 km2) of virtually unrestricted airspace in the Continental United States; the airspace is used for missile and artillery training and testing.

          early history?

FORT BLISS. After the end of the Mexican War the need to defend the new border, to maintain law and order, to protect settlers and California-bound migrants from Indian attacks, and to survey for a new transcontinental railroad compelled the United States government to establish a military post on the Rio Grande in the area of El Paso del Norte (now Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua). On November 7, 1848, the War Department instructed the Third Infantry to take up quarters at the pass, and Bvt. Maj. Jefferson Van Horne led 257 soldiers, including the regimental staff, six infantry companies, and a howitzer battery, west from San Antonio. They arrived in the area on September 8; on September 14, four companies were quartered on Coons’ Rancho, formerly Ponce’s Ranch, in downtown El Paso. About one-third of the troops occupied the presidio at San Elizario, an old Spanish garrison twenty miles southeast of El Paso.

The War Department closed the post and presidio in September 1851 and withdrew the troops to Fort Fillmore, forty miles to the north. A military post was reestablished on the Rio Grande in January 1854 when Lt. Col. Edmund Brooke Alexander, with four companies of the Eighth United States Infantryqv, rented quarters at Magoffinsville, a hacienda three miles east of Coons’ Rancho. On March 8, 1854, the official name of the post became Fort Bliss, in memory of Lt. Col. William Wallace Smith Bliss, Gen. Zachary Taylor’s chief of staff during the Mexican War and later his son-in-law.

I take some pride to say I did basic at one and AIT at the other and am Texan from a$$hole to appetite.

We can control our borders if we wish. But what has been happening over recent decades has been a “laxed” attitude as this region is home to people that a river (sometimes only a trickle) runs through. ~ They go back and forth across the river, making friends, finding work, wives, food, previsions and supply’s. ~ This has been going on long enough that one family now has family living on both side of this river.

What is different day? ~ is that the recession we are in is global. As we deal with shortages , so do they! In fact, the Mexican are hurting much worse. This has created drug turf wars inside Mexico and there is much unrest and violence.

Today people are fleeing Mexico to escape both violence and economic hardship.

A handful of disgruntled seniors snowbirds cooling their jets in dry Arizona air does little to discourage their flight to safety of the US.

            Legalize pot.

          • Al Sieber

Yeah, and also occupying large portions of Ariz. from the border to interstate 8. where U.S. citizens are not allowed to go in their own country, like the Buenos Aires wild life refuge. so Bob Wire you think the Drug Cartels are just camping out there because they like the scenery? and the president does nothing about it, just ignores it, and the people that elected him to do his job too. then calls Ariz. racist because we want the violent crime to stop, and the law enforced. those people are not here for work. they smuggle drugs and human cargo and treat their own people as subhuman worse than slaves. they force these people to smuggle drugs and other contraband. if this problem isn’t taken care of by the president, and soon, I hate to imagine whats gonna happen, it’s a ticking bomb and it’s 1 minute to midnight.

          • Bob Wire

No doubt about it AL ~ some of them are running drugs.

The Cartels ~ are “camped out” everywhere! not them but their soldiers!

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Because he is a liberal. They walk around in a cloud with the “if it feels good, do it” like the hippies did in the sixties. They blamed all their downfalls on the establishment back then. Now that they are the establishment, they blame everything on Bush. See how thats works? Its always someone elses fault with them.

  • Timothy kushi

The only problem we have is our Presidents, Congress and Senate people, they are the ones responsible for all the immigration problems that we have by not enforceing our laws. Hell all our problems are them they should all be arrested and put in jail, removed from office without pay and benifits.Where can any one in the private sector or has a job that can break the rules of their employment and not be reprimanded. These people in Washington are just useless individuals who lie about everything they are involved in to satisfy their goals for personal gains or for their parties interest and they don’t give a hell about the people or the Country they are suppost to be representing. Until the people hold them accounable for their actions we will always be fighting to fix things that they produce wrongly just to satisfy their own personal goals.

    • 45caliber

You are correct. I still think “tar and feather” should be legal for any politician.

      • forgiven87

I’m thinking DRAWN AND QUARTERED!! Something like Brave heart!!!

        • 45caliber

Yeah, but with all the Aids problems in the world, do you want to risk letting a Congressman bleed all over the ground somewhere? It is hard to clean up.

  • Michelle

I would be happy to carry papers. And the law never went after only hispanics. that was the loney left assuming that was the only race it was after. How about the hundreds of middle easteners that cross the mexican boarder? How about if you wanted to be Americans you would learn the language instead of forcing everyone else to learn yours. How about just enforcing our laws. go ahead go to mexicao without proper documentation adn see what happens to you! do you think they are going to learn English to communicate with you? Do you think you will get free health care, housing, food stamps etal. Not while you are in prison. Grow up people and start inforcing our laws.

    • 45caliber

The main reason they don’t want to learn English when they come here is that they have no real intention of staying. They want to earn some sum (usually $100,000) and then go back home. They don’t NEED to know English there. It is only the liberals hoping to get them to vote Democrat who mistakenly believe these Illegals are coming here because they want to be American.

Those that do change their minds and want to be American later are usually staying because their kids are now wanting to stay to earn money too.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

That, and they dont want to learn English because they have no intention of embracing and valueing the American way of life. They expect everyone to cow two to them, and learn their language to communicate with the them, and our dumbass liberal politicians acutally fired school teachers in California for not learning spanish.

  • Larry Haynes

obama doesn’t want states taking initiative on immigration or any other problem because he is a communist, a dictator, an ego maniac and believes that he knows everything and that the rest of us are just bumps on a log. He is a meglamaniac, control freak who very much believes he and his associates are better than the rest of us, blah, blah, blah…. You know us “Right Wing Extremists,” “Gun toting, Bible clutching idiots,” whom just happen to make up around 85% or more of the U.S. population. But don’t worry Satan, oops, I mean obama is going to change and straighten all of us dumb, stupid peasants and serfs out. He’s the “One.”

    • Andrea

You’re right. Rush Limbaugh said something that was so true. Even a dog knows whether it is being tripped over or being kicked. Most of America is waking up to the realization that is is being kicked.

      • 45caliber

I like your analogy. And you are right. If you accidently trip over the dog it yelps and moves. If you kick it on purpose you may get a hunk taken from your leg.

    • Kinetic1

Really, 85%? The percentage of Americans who say they have “conservative political views”-40%. Republican-28%, Gun owners-40%, Christian -78%. Now consider the number of respondents who are not actually practicing Christians (let alone “Bible thumping”,) are conservative Dems and don’t object to gun regulations and your 85% or more looks pretty overblown. In fact, your whole post is rather overblown.

      • 45caliber

But not all gun owners are also conservative. And not all “Bible thumpers” are conservative either – or are all gun owners.

When you combine all people who fit at least one category, you are getting up there close to 85% – if not over.

        • Kinetic1

          Now that’s what I call a stretch.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

He can call it a stretch if he likes, but the truth is the truth is the truth, and the truth will set you free.

  • Barbara Humphrey

Doesn’t this article prove just the opposite–that if police were enforcing the law in the 1980s, John Myers would have left his sick father, maybe even his citizen son, and gone back to Canada? And of course, the truth of the Arizona law is that no one who stops a John Myers (unless he happens to be very dark skinned and talks with an accent, and I don’t mean a Canadian one) is going to be asked for their papers. The point is not the goodness or badness of this law, the point is the enforcement. When it is believed that 99% of the illegal aliens in your state are brown-skinned latinos, you will stop brown skinned people. The burden of proof will be on individuals to prove they are here illegally, not law enforcement proving they aren’t. People will be brought to detainee centers, not jails, with no access to lawyers, family, etc. We need immigration laws that are compliant with the Constitution, which is still the law of the land, a law that guarantees every resident the protections of the Bill of Rights.

    • Al Sieber

Why are you making this a racial issue? why haven’t you read the law? I can tell you haven’t read the law by your ignorant comment.

      • Kinetic1

Yes, the law states that race alone can not be used as a determining factor, but do you really believe that race will be ignored? As for the argument that this law only applies when the police have a legitimate, legal reason to detain, that’s not saying much. How many people stop for 3 seconds before making a right turn on a red light? How often do drivers hit that yellow light just a little late? Driving too fast or too slow for the flow of traffic, lane change issues, the list goes on and on. Police choose to ignore minor offenses all the time, but now they will serve as a reason to detain a dark skinned driver if the officer wants to check their status. And if the driver is carrying an out of state license, look out? He’s hispanic and the license comes from “one of those states”.

What if the individual is not in a car? Loitering or suspicious behavior. Jay walking or appearing too young to have that beer. Again, the list goes on and on. To deny that there will be racial profiling is disingenuous at best.

The only good thing about this law is that it also requires clamping down on employers who knowingly hire illegals. If this law is upheld, I’ll be interested to see how much attention is given to this problem. How many employers will be convicted because they “encourage or induce an alien to come to or reside in the state”? On the other hand, the law requires that the individual be prosecuted to the fullest extent, but gives the judge sway to impose what he/she feels is an appropriate penalty for the employer. Well that’s only fair, right? You don’t want to be too harsh on the American businessman for putting his best interest before his country’s.

        • 45caliber

It isn’t too hard to tell which drivers are illegal in my area. They all drive about 10 miles under the speed limit, etc. to make sure they don’t get stopped for some traffic violation. And if they are involved in a wreck that does’t injure them too badly they will leave the scene. Even if they have to abandon their car.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I would have to bring race into this. If youve got illegal aliens coming in through the Mexico/Arizona border, what color do you purport their skin to be? Thats why I have no problem with profiling. Just like after 9-11. We know those that want to kill us are from the middle east. Why strip search an 85 year old black gradma, or a 45 year old white guy. Im pretty sure they are middle eastern terrorists. Why stop a white guy or black guy in Arizona? Do they look like an illegal alien from Mexico or the middle east? Give me a break. What the hell ever happened to common sense. If there is a crime reported, and the police have a report of a black man committing the crime, are they going to pull over a white guy and ask him questions? No. Come on, use some common sense. If a prison escape is made, and it’s reported 3 white guys on the loose, are they going to be looking for black guys? No. You suspect those who look the part right off the bat, and go from there. Has nothing to do with racism. It has to do with good police detective work, starting with the obvious. Those that have a problem with it, have a problem with racism and need help.

    • James Darrow

Please read the law. It’s only about 10 – 15 pages (depending on font size). If your doing nothing wrong then you won’t be asked for your ID. It’s only during lawful contact that they are to check your status and if you have a valid ID that’s as far as it goes. There is already federal systems in place for inquiring about citizenship status; the AZ law simply requires that, in the course of lawful contact, the police check with the federal government for citizenship status if the person doesn’t have his ID with him/her.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And if the are caught doing illegal deeds, your darn right they should be checked to see if they belong here. No one should have a problem with that.

    • bbstacker

You are obliterating the Constitution; Citizens of the United States are covered under the Bill of Rights, the Constitution of the United States and the Declaration of Independence. Someone “residing” in the United States should not be covered under the rights afforded Citizens. If that is the case, then expect a massive flood of humanity that will bankrupt this nation, overwhelm it’s already fragile infrastructure and decimate the wealth of Americans by shredding the sovereignty of the States to pay for the welfare, entitlements and, above all, birthing of illegal aliens offspring who simply think that delivering a child on our soil makes them a United States Citizen–this was NEVER the intent of the Fourteenth Amendment!

    • 45caliber

Just a little off, Barbara. First, read their law. It is an exact duplicate of the FEDERAL law that the government refuses to enforce except that it adds a clause that says that there can be NO racial profiling.

And we do carry and show ID – every time you are stopped for speeding or running a stop sign, they ask for it. I don’t know about you but I had to produce a birth certificate to get mine … and so did my kids.

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

And that is so stupid. If a white guy is reported to have done the crime, by golly its pretty good police work to be profiling white people, because there is a 100 percent chance a white guy did it, if a white guy was seen doing the crime. We need to profile those that fit the part. If your looking for middle eastern terrorists, you pretty much need to look at dark skinned middle easterners. If your looking for illegals coming in from mexico, you pretty much need to take a look at hispanics. Its not that hard, and to make it racist is bull crap. Its good police work to for one, start with the obvious, and see what you find. Im tired of all this sensitivity crap. Yes they are sensitive to getting caught, so dont even look at them. Thats baloney. I say profile, and profile often.

    • forgiven87

a law that guarantees every legal resident the protections of the Bill of Rights. I believe the key word here is “LEGAL” and I believe if you are not legal or in the process of becoming legal, you are a criminal!!

    • marvin

Barbara Humphrey only trouble with your post all mexican are not brown skinned and all illegals are not hispanic, here is food for your little brain if 3 black or 3 whites for that matter rob a bank who would you think the cops would be looking for mexicans wake up

      • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Exactly. Good police and detective work starts with looking at the obvious, and going from there. Ive yet to see a blond haired blue eyed mexican, Ill tell you that right now. Ive yet to see a pale skinned illegal immigrant from mexico either.

this whole idea about state and local officers not enforcing federal laws in nonsense, just another smoke screen. I worked narcotics for 25 years at the state level, believe me when I say that we often charged offenders under the federal statutes rather than state statutes because the sentencing was much stiffer. A precedent has long been set in locals and state agent enforcing federal laws.

I’m a bit tired of pressing 1 for english at my bank or state government offices!

    • PraisingGod

I hear that!!! I’m tired on pushing 1 for English too! Want to live here – learn the launguage!!!!!

      • DaveH

It is annoying. But I think it’s within the rights of a private company to do that. And if we don’t like it, we should exercise our right to not buy their products or services.
But the public sector is a different situation. The Government should not be using taxpayer money to enable people who don’t want to learn English, especially for voting materials.

        • Bob Wire

i understand your annoyance for the press #1 for English.

that tell us of fast our system is having to assimilate their numbers.

I’ve worked of vessels where three different languages are spoken.

I wouldn’t say I ever got use to it, by I did accept it. ~ I was the one out of place.

In Europe, two languages are most common.

We are spoiled here in the US in such matters.

          • libertytrain

While I will agree we are somewhat spoiled in the US – you appear to be forgetting the International language is currently English – at one time it was French (when I was a young girl) – so in many parts of the world you will find two languages but it is not the native language and Spanish, it’s the native language and the current International Language – English. Had that not changed decades ago, the language of the country would be used as well as French. Perhaps the Mexican version of Spanish will someday be the accepted International Language, it is not currently such.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

Yet another cost related to illegal aliens. The government spend millions on all these spanish posters and forms, and it just shouldnt be that way. I never ever, go to another country, and expect them to post english everywhere for my convenience. I am in the country, I need to learn their stuff and their customs, not vice versa.

  • FD

The reason the Obamacrats don’t like the Arizona law is because it wil remove their voting base. In St. Louis they were cuaght registering illegals and homeless persons in several locations where they voted “early and often.” The left has no love for America or the American value system. It is not the right that is saying it is OK for the Islamic movement to build a multi-million dollar mosque at Ground Zero! It is the left that is saying it is OK. Obummer cancelled the National Day of Prayer for Christians, but had a day of Prayer for the islamic faith where he prayed with them. The left will not be happy until they have totally destroyed the America so many have fought and died to prottect and preserve. Iif they had their way the Constitution would be used as a shoe wipe. It is the left that wants to take our right to protect and defend our homes and property, and if necessary our Constitution!
Until we bring God back into the picture we are a doomed country as leftists will continue to vote in thos who will give them something for nothing and take from those that work to give to those that don’t/won’t. Why should they work, they have it easy the way it is; however none of the jerks in Washington are looking down the road to when there is no one left to work and pay for things!

    • sonny

FD: I agree wholeheartedly with your post. Obama is protecting illegals b/c he wants their votes to be reelected. As far as “looking down the road,” he (Obama) couldn’t care less what happens down the road. He is a wannabe dictator. He doesn’t care what works or what is good for the country. Like Hitler and the other dictators, he just wants power and control and he will stop at NOTHING, legal or not, to achieve that.

    • DaveH

This is what Snopes has to say about the National Day of Prayer event:

Notice the judgement declaring the National Day of Prayer as unconstitutional. I’m not religious, but I do think the religious people need to raise all kinds of hell about that judgement, as the Constitution simply says “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of a religion”. I don’t think the National Day of Prayer is a law, is it?

  • lightening2009

The law is the law. What makes me mad is that it seems that only people that have to follow the law are the American Citizens, the people who are here legally with visas and green cards. Some people complain about people having to carry documents well where I am at in the country I have to have some form of ID on me at all times when in public. If I get pulled over for any reason I get asked for licence registration and proof of insurence. The only reason this administration is pushing for ilegals to become legals under a umbrella is because this administration knows they need the votes when it is time. Yes if the Govenor of Arizona decided to run for Pres she has my VOTE. From a Proud American

    • 45caliber

Wake up America these Illegals coming across the border in droves are driving up our federal and state deficits by millions and they are given Free schooling and Medical care etc etc and who is paying for it You are if your a tax paying american. They get it for free all the while and you pay for it while your own children Legal citizens can’t even get help for college they can get it for Free that’s what the illegals joke about Land of the Free. I happen to agree with Arizona and their efforts good job and all states should follow Arizonas Lead sometimes drastic measures are the only way you get something done and your taken seriously Good Job Arizona!!!!

    • Bob Wire

I think you’d be hard pressed to find anyone asleep on the matter.

  • Shibamom

    Dear Hflashman,

What’s the problem with carrying id? All legal citizens in the US should always carry some form of id with them and if a officer of the law asks to see it, if you have nothing to hide, then show them! Not so tough or inconvenient. Hell, no one has a problem showing id numerous times at the airport. It pisses me off that people automatically pull out the race card on issues like this. This is in reference to your statment “It’s you as well, Caucasians. Didn’t matter if it affected Hispanics did it?” Most of us who have been listening to all sides of the immigration issue are full aware of the nightmare at the Mexico/US border. Why shouldn’t US citizen’s be protected from the illegals that sneak in with the full intent of carrying on their life of violent crime. And if this protection comes at the cost of being asked to produce id, then so be it. I really don’t think the law-abiding citizens of Arizona, whether they be black, hispanic, caucasians, asians, or whatever nationality, will care about showing id especially if it helps slow down the onslaught of their border. The other thing that I am so sick of is the idea or belief that all white folks are racists. Stop it already!!! I’ve found that most people, regardless of race, color, nationality, are not racist; they just have some opinions that some of us don’t agree with. This is where the phrase “Then we can agree to disagree” comes in handy at least with reasonable folks. We, as a society, liberally apply the word “Racist” to everything and it’s usually used when one party has no argument to present or has no idea what they’re talking about. The word “Racist” is a great way to get those who have differing opinions/viewpoints to “Shut up.” That crap happened during the 2008 Presidential election. Those of us who weren’t mesmerized by “The Chosen One” and voiced our concerns were immediately labled “Racists”. Why??? Because it’s convenient and it shuts them up!!! Geez…no one can have an opinion that is different from someone else without being accused of Racisim. What a sad state our country is in.

    • wasadoc

Well, yeah, but you know “It’s all Bush’s fault” that we are racists.

      • Shibamom

        • Bob Wire

fault is not even an issue here.

          so why bring it up?

“This is the fault of our liberal masters and their quest for the ever broadening voter base”

Ah ! Here a nanny nanny poo poo’er looking for fault.

Liberal Masters? I’d say you are a slave of your own thoughts. Do you suggest we have had conservative masters and now they are Liberal? I was thinking it was considered by all as the Executive Branch ~ when was it changed? and by whom?

So we are offering to “all” the premise, that GOP/bagger don’t want any citizen that might vote a DNC ticket? or to say, Citizenship should only be offered to those that vote the “right way” ~ the way you want them to vote? ~ Does that fit with your ideas of being American and holding American values?

How’s that going to play out with meaningful immigration reform that might be considered as we address illegal immigration?

How are you going to rationalize and justify the pledge of allegiance, One nation under God with Liberty and Justice for all?

  • lynnbo

Ever decision coming out of Obama is based on holding political power. Stop expecting him to do the right thing for the people or for him to tell the truth. Realize that each of us can make a difference, but only if we use our resources as the people of America.
Illegals are bankrupting the country, so the problem will take care of its self either thru no more welfare or terriost attack from our border. Until then understand the issue as the news, even fox, does not report the truth of the corruption and international crime growing in America today and sponsored by Congress of both parties.

    • DaveH

I don’t condone illegal immigration, but it isn’t the illegals who are bankrupting our country. It is Big Government that is bankrupting our country.
Hong Kong has one of the densest populations on earth and yet it has a robust economy. Government spending in Hong Kong is 15% of GDP. Compare that to the United States where Government spends 37% of the GDP.
Pick the country names in this list to see the particulars:
OMG, I just noticed that the United States has fallen out of the top ten on the Economic Freedom list. Unbelievable. We were given a silk purse by our founders and we have apathetically allowed it to be turned into a sow’s ear.

      • DaveH

Correction, I was looking at the wrong chart. We are still in the top ten (but falling fast).

  • Bob

I spent 30 years in the military and find it rather simple minded that people consider having to show law enforcement your papers is offensive. The current federal immigration law allows for anyone’s papers to be checked to determine citizenship without a person breaking any law. This practice continues to be performed in Europe, Asia and all other parts of the civilized world. So get your liberal heads out of your lower anatomy and think like a responsible citizen who believes in protecting your country’s borders and sovereignty like most other countries do. The problem with liberals is they do not love their country they love their causes without looking at the facts or long term consequences.

    • 45caliber

      Bob: You are correct.

If you consider just what the liberals believe our future should be like, it is apparent they never think through the problems. For instance, they believe that no one should ever work unless they desire to work at some particular job. And all should get equal money whether you work or not. So … who is going to pump out the stopped up sewers? I seriously doubt if anyone would jump at the chance. But they expect that someone will. Someone ELSE.

      • DaveH

Good example, 45. There is no substitute for the Free Market. It is the fairest determinant there is. The undesirable jobs will naturally need to provide higher wages or they won’t get filled. That is how it should be.
Liberals confuse Hopes and Dreams with Reality. We all wish we didn’t have to do anything we didn’t want to do. We all wish life was easy. So the ignorant find it easy to embrace Liberal Ideology. The rest of us can distinguish between Fantasy and Reality.

        • 45caliber

I love to read fantasy – but at least I don’t get it mixed up with real life.

        • http://donthaveone Beberoni

I agree the Free Market is the fairest. If you see an item, and I deem it a good value, I buy it, and you stay in business. If your selling crap, and at an inflated price, Im not buying it, and sooner or later no one else will either, and your out of business. How can people find fault with that? Nobody forces you to buy their products in a free market system. We choose FREELY the deals we want.

I am proud to call myself a liberal on the basis of Environmental Protection, Progressive Taxation, Universal Health Care, Clean Energy, and other such issues which Democrats champion. However, I am squarely in the camp of cutting off not only illegal immigration but legal as well. The reason for this is the fact that all these Liberal causes cannot possibly be addressed with an out of control flood of poor humanity into this country. The overriding problem to be solved is population growth. The notion of growing the economy with cheap labor to solve our problems is like standing on the accelerator as we head for a cliff.
We need to shrink both the economy and the population to fit the capacity of the earth to sustain us into the future. Liberals need to understand that you cannot solve the problems of the third world by importing the third world’s excess population. Those problems must be solved by supporting birth control in those countries. Conservatives must understand that their objections to birth control are the main cause of environmental degradation and mass immigration to America.

    • pam

      Hello Lee,
I do beg to differ with you on the population issue.
      (going religious on you now)…….

No where in the Bible (the Christian Holy Word) does God say that when we reach xxx, xxx, xxx, xxx, people we need to stop. The Holy words say to “go forth and multiply”. So this is not an issue of numbers but an issue of “greed”. When we as a society feel intitled to BIG everything it is gained at the expense of the environment.
Many of the excesses that are had in the west are desired in other parts of the world. We in the west are not teaching anything other than greed. Let it be said though that “required distribution of wealth” is not the same as “giving from the Heart” so I do not agree with the “wealth distribution” policies of the current administration.
Remebering who makes and keeps us wealthy and whole is not our government but GOD alone.
      Thanks for chatting, pam

      • 45caliber

It may not be stated in the Bible how many kids you should have but when you start reaching the point where more kids means less food for everyone, it is time to stop having that many kids. I think it is totally wrong for a family to have 6-15 kids they simply cannot feed even if they give up spending on all other matters. To me that is as big a case of child abuse as beating them to death. At least the beatings are quicker and can be stopped with time. Starvation can’t be.

        • DaveH

Population would be self-stabilized in a Free Market where nobody gets to ride on unwilling shoulders. The Liberal ideals promote population growth by making it easy for the irresponsible non-workers to saddle the workers with their mistakes. And then after making it easier for the non-workers to have more babies, the Liberals want to pass laws to limit population growth caused by their own misguided policies. The common theme here? Bigger Government.
Liberals and Freedom are like oil and water.

          • 45caliber

That is one thing that annoys me about the Welfare system. They pay additional money for each child to a welfare mom (but not dad) up to eight kids. So if they want more money, just have another kid. And don’t worry about caring for the kid; the government will do that. They REFUSE to allow a welfare mom to have her tubes tied until she has at least 3 kids. I know a woman who had the third one just to get approval to have her tubes tied. And guess who has the children? Her parents.

On the other hand, if you are a hard-working person who pays taxes most families stop at 2 kids or even 1 because that’s all they can afford and still be able to provide the family with a decent living.

That is one of the reasons the government is so slow to stop illegal aliens from coming in. The working class doesn’t even have enough children to replace themselves. It’s growing smaller. So they bring in millions a year – legal and illegal – to try to make up that difference. But the real problem is that the ones they allow to enter are here primarily to go on the welfare system – which requires us workers to pay even more in taxes to pay for their costs too.

    • PraisingGod

Conservatives objection to birth control??? How about objection to abortion – taking the life of an unborn child is more like the objection! Abortion is not birth control!

    • 45caliber

      A couple of comments.

First, all governments on Earth depend on an expanding population to increase the amount of tax money they collect. How can you be so evil as to force them to not vote themselves pay raises because the tax collection is going down? Don’t you feel bad about it? They do.

Second, the fact that conservatives in the US, by and large, do not approve of abortion has absolutely nothing to do with the populations of other countries. In fact one of the biggest reasons for their high growth of numbers is the US help to cut down on the number of infant deaths in those countries.

I read an article in the paper once about some islands in the South Pacific. Families there expected to have about 20 kids with about three-four living to adult age. Americans felt bad about this and built hospitals, etc. to allow the kids to grow up. Twenty years later the US simply couldn’t understand why these families now had as many as 20 kids? Didn’t they know better?

    • Bob Wire

Where , when and how did the issue of illegal immigration EVER become a LIBERAL ISSUE????????????????????????????????????

That the current administration has chosen to test the constitutionality of an Arizona laws in NO WAY makes it a “Liberal Issue”

You people are taking great liberties with a very hyperactive mind.

Does that make any sense to you?????? You are creating consternation, spreading erroneous ideas and attempting to lay some kind of blame at someone doorstep.

It’s an just an issue, neither conservative or liberal. The question is in what manner should it be best addressed and how to go forward.

I’m not a liberal yet I sure don’t agree with many of you here. I believe the system will work if used and applied. This is “process” at work. The previous administration had 8 years to do so and we got fence out of the deal. I’m left to suppose the fence idea is not working very well? I never thought it would but I didn’t oppose it.

Okay? what’s next? So get your panties out of a bunch and use your head for something besides a hat rack.

    • http://donthaveone Beberoni

You can shove your universal health care you know where. When your having heart palpitations, and you go in, and they have you sign in and tell you to come back in three weeks, then go home and die and tell me its good then. When your taxes go up 30 percent to pay for it, tell me its good then. When you need a breathing treatment because your an asthmatic, and they cant see you for a week, your a dead man. Tell me its good then. And yes, this is how it works. And those who work pay more to give it to those who dont work. When someone is getting something free, someone is paying somewhere, and it always seems like its me that keeps on paying. Ill have to decline at this time, thank you just the same.

  • Carolina Mom

John, you said that “U.S. News & World Report says there may be method to the Federal government’s madness,” but I missed what “method” they might have outside of the hint at NOT improving the economy. Did I miss it, or did you forget to tell us? I have a hard time believing that US News & World Report would criticise the Obama Administration.

Otherwise, great article; I think you put the problem in proper perspective, especially the “effeciveness” and “efficiency” of two government agencies that didn’t bother to communicate, thus causing your problem to last for years and years.

  • Eric

Let’s all just make sure we vote this fall to start to get America back!

    • 45caliber

And do it at the polls! Absentee ballots are NOT counted except in very close races.

      • Shasta

HEY 45, are you sure about this? I never heard that absentee ballots are not counted?

        • 45caliber

It was brought up in one of the contended elections. Franks maybe. The election offical brought up counting the absentee votes. Some reporter immediately wanted to know why they weren’t already counted.

The reply was that there weren’t that many absentee votes. If one candidate won by a hundred thousand votes, it wasn’t worth the time involved to open and count a couple of thousand absentee votes. Even if every vote whet to the loser, he’d still lose. But in a close vote of a couple of hundred different, the absentee votes could make a difference. So it was worth the time then to count them.

  • Delores Smith

Terrorists are a threat to the United States. Terrorist countries are using Arizona as a pathway to other states (Yemen, Syria, etc.). Arizona has been invaded by 500,000 illegals. We must identify them. This is a security issue, not civil rights as depicted by Obama, Al Sharpton, Andy Stern, and the INJUSTICE Dept. Not protecting Americans from the invasion of illegals is an impeachable offense. Obama has put up signs in southern Arizona, “Danger, illegal aliens, drug dealers…do not enter this land.”
Obama, that land is Federal land, but it is the land of the American people. You are allowing illegal criminals to take over our land. We own that land as much as we own you, President Obama. President Calderon of Mexico and several other Latino countries have signed on to protest the AZ law. Obama, this is collusion on your part with foreign nations, putting them before American citizens. Governor Jan Brewer is protecting us.
Obama, you seek a way to get Latino votes by making illegals…legal. Andy Stern of SEIU wants to unionize them. Al Sharpton wants a march for civil rights. LaRaza wants a revolution to take back their land. ENOUGH is ENOUGH.
Mr. Myers, twenty-seven years ago, things were different. We didn’t have terrorists sliding into our country. As for your Dad, this is America and that should have been allowed. When Americans take over the House and the Senate, this will be a better America, because we are awake. We will vote and haunt our representatives and impeach Obama.
    Delores Smith

  • L,T,

Does the federal government really want he states to throw up their hands and say “OK, you have a law on the books, you get to enforce it. We will turn all state, county and local law enforcement into a collection of Barney Fifes.”

No wait, Obama and his socialist fellow-travelers want exactly that!!

  • Shibamom

    Dear Lee,

All good thoughts however, let’s be clear. The US needs to protect it’s borders and the third world countries need to address their own birth control issues…NOT the US. What exactly does your statement “Conservatives must understand that their objections to birth control are the main cause of environmental degradation and mass immigration to America”. What does this mean??? So, conservative views on birth control here in our country is the main cause for illegals to flock to America???? What a bunch of horse poop! The US Gov’t & the US citizens make decisions for the good of our country and shouldn’t worry about what another country thinks of those decisions. Oh…but wait…I forgot…in “The Chosen One’s” America, it doesn’t matter what we citizens think. That’s been made quite clear in the last 18 mos or so with the stimulus’, bank bailouts, auto maker bailouts, health care, etc. I wonder how long this list of “accomplishments” will be by the time this socialist, ego maniac leaves office which won’t be soon enough for me!

    • pam

My thoughts exactly….. I do have to laugh at my family….only my husband, father, mother and I voted against Obama. Now the rest of the family can only say “we didnt realize what his agenda was”, “we just wanted change”. I could just scream ever time I think about people are just like sheep to the slaughter.

      • sonny

PAM: I’m still wondering what part of “G.D. America” the Obama supporters did not understand??

        • Shasta

Sonny……..they didnt hear about GD America, I bet you if you polled 90% of the sheep that voted for Ovomit and asked them who Rev Wright was or even William Ayers, they would Not know. THEY DID NOT RESEARCH , they did not read, they just voted on blind faith, on party and against Bush, (against Bush was the Union workers) To this day i would venture to say the sheep still do not know about GD America or William Ayers. Stamp it!

      • Bob Wire

and what has happen to make you “right” pam?

  • Keith

If mexico thinks we should open our southern border I don’t know why their southern border isn’t wide open to allow all the people south of their country in,really has anyone ever checked to see what even Mexico does to illegals in their country when they are caught and I fully agree with a previous comment,If our govt. would just enforce the Feberal law that is already on the books(and by the way it is much worse than the one Brewer set into motion)we wouldn’t have this problem,it’s also as simple as come here apply for citizenship ,go through normal legal channels like so many Mexicans have done already and become a citizen, don’t expect to come here illegal and then have the privileges of some one who has gone through legal channels, but o no if our govt. found out that you have a criminal background obviously they wouldn’t accept your application or they may have to even have to start paying taxes like the rest of us. In fact when was the last time you had to show your ID,motor vehicle office, grocery store, airport, when you get a new job, using your charge plates, applying for a new charge, buying insurance, getting stopped for a speeding ticket,,getting a passport and the list goes onnnnnnn,so people should get over it already, along with the privilege of living in this great country it also requires a few responsibilities, use some common sense, though we all know common sense isn’t really all that common…….God Bless America and pray for our country to get through this rough patch…….

    • 45caliber

I think we should adopt (and ENFORCE) Mexico’s immigration police here in the US.

    • sonny

KEITH: “IF” we had a president that was worth a damn, he would boot the illegals out AND tell the president of Mexico to kiss his a**.

      • 45caliber

You are going to scare all those liberals out there! Aren’t you worried that Mexico might want to declare war against us if Oblama did that? They are!!!

  • Phillip Winter

What most people who are responsible do not realize is that logically appealing to Obama of that which is obvious he could care less. He is appealing to the irresponsible who will vote for him and his party. He could care less about the country–the classes he took at Columbia under Professor Cloward-look him up on google–and you will understand Obama’s plan to destroy capitalism. Everything he has done is exactly as Professor Cloward’s strategy shows.
Those who watch Fox News or listen to any conservative talk show cannot understand why people cannot see what Obama is doing–REASON–his people don’t watch or listen to those shows. Stop him in November or live is socialism for the rest of your life.

    • Andrea

Phillip Winter I think you meant to say that Obama could not care less about the country. He does not care at all about the country. When you say he could care less you are saying he cares. Or perhaps you are right. He cares about the country. He cares to make it a socialist Muslim country. He already said he is a Muslim first and an American second. And it shows.

  • pam

What are the considerations that our drivers license actually say:
USC (us citizen) or USGC (us green card) etc??????
When we go to get our license or renew, we would need to show our US passport or our US birth certificate and then our license would reflect the FULL STATUS OF OUR NATIONALITY.

Now I know that this would open up a can of worms for our current president, but hey, we would then get the REAL AND TRUE answer on his status

    • 45caliber

My daughter got her driver’s license about five years ago. She had to show her birth certificate to get one. But since then the Dems have insisted that anyone should be able to get a license (and vote with it) without showing any evidence that you are American in the first place. Personally, I don’t think you should need to mark on a DL if you are a legal citizen; just mark for LEGAL aliens. And if the police stop someone without a license, it’s a quick trip back to where they came from.

      • pam

Very true……..anything would be better than the system in place now. I am almost to the point that I am going to carry my passport as my ID. When I go into the store and they as for my DL it verify my credit card, I would present the REAL DEAL in ID (oh silly me)

    • PraisingGod

      AMEN! Well said!

  • Steve Thompson

I certainly don’t blame people from wanting to relocate to the United States by whatever means they find necessary – I would! But, to insist on bringing their native cultures with them, their efforts to supplant the US culture with that from which they flee, to insist on our nation’s adopting their languages, rather than learning the dominant language of our country, to militantly expect to share the benefits the rest of the population has funded without making their own contributions – these are the things to which I do object! Furthermore, to continue supporting a border nation whose policy is to encourage dissidents to migrate to the USA should carry penalties (the rescinding of financial aid from the USA comes to mind – for every illegal entering the USA from such a nation, perhaps our reducing financial aid to that nation by, say $100,000, for ever illegal caught would get their attention? Maybe we should extend this policy to every ounce of illegal drugs we confiscate that has also crossed the border? Perhaps, then, those nations would make a meaningful effort to assure that their immigrants comply with US law? (we could undoubtedly use those “saved” dollars to fund the programs the Democrats appear intent on providing, if Congress didn’t remain true to form and spend those dollars as “found” money)

    • 45caliber

Not a bad idea. You could probably make that $100 fine to the other countries and get their attention considering the number of illegals here and how much we give them anyway. It would certainly get their attention.

      • pam

heck, it doesnt even need to be 100,000. Even $100 a pop would be a water fall of money coming into us and a huge drain on them.

Better yet, how about making folks show passport or birthcert everytime they go into Walmart, etc and wire all that money back “home”???????

  • Steve Coy

Finally someone has said there are more than 12 million ILLEGALS in this country, there is really more than 40 Million if you go by the stats. The 2000 census showed 22-24 Million ILLEGALS in this country and Department of Immigration stated in 2007 that at least 1 Million a year was crossing our Borders since 9/11, of that amount at least 10,000 came from Countries on our Terrorist List, now do you know why Obamanation wants our Borders unprotected. Obamanation is a Radical America hating Keyan Born Muslim who is and has associated with Terrorists, Socialists and Communists his whole Life, he needs to GO by any means.

    • 45caliber

There are enough angry people now who are against the illegals. If the government told the truth about how many really are here in the US, it might really get some citizens upset. And we can’t have that, now can we? Particularly if you can make citizens of these people who will hopefully vote Democrat.

      • pam

But wait if we can get them on the “Tax grid” than our SS coffer will fill up in no time and then the ratio of workers to retiree would be back to 50 to 1.

        • 45caliber

IF you could get them on the tax grid. IF.

What many do, according to the Corpus Christi Caller, is purchase TWO (or more) sets of ID papers from their suppliers. They work under one set and draw welfare under the other. Then they switch every six months or so. At the end of the year they submit two (or more) income tax returns showing they were on welfare for at least half the year. Then they get all their tax money back as well as collect other money. And they get all their medical, etc. free as well as school. About the only tax they pay is sales tax.

The reason they want their kids educated in Spanish is because they intend to go back to their home country as soon as they make enough money. And they want their kids to know the language and be able to do well in school after they move back.

  • 45caliber

What annoys me about the INS is who they target to send back. If it is some person with a tenuous right to be here they jump hard. If it is someone who not only is here illegally but commits crimes as well, they simply don’t have time to look for him.

  • Lloyd

Did you notice this article says: “There are as many as 30 million illegal aliens in the U.S. That’s the population of Canada. And no place has been impacted harder than Arizona”.

Folk that’s 30 MILLION!!! and our own government keeps telling us 10-12 million… Someone’s lying! Could it be our goverment! Fire them all!!

    • Bob Wire

yes it could be a lot of lies ~

It could be that Arizona is a welfare state to begin with!

Produces little ~ nice place for Northerner to go and retire! Their dollar buys more and their old bones don’t hurt as bad.

SO IT IS , they have came to claim the state as their very own. While not truly excepting all the things the state has to offer.

Much like enjoying horses but detesting the smell of horse manure.

“May we have have a potty trained horse please!”

It is a problem ~ I make too light off, it’s true.

Mexico is going through rest unrest and troubled times.

The answer to this problem is in Mexico City.

      • Dale on left coast

Bob . . . I would bet the illegal numbers are much closer to 30 million than they are to 12 million as the federal govt states.

Not knowing who is crossing your borders is pure INSANITY . . . there are 6 Billion folks out there that would luv to come to the US for the great handouts.

        • 45caliber

Or to show how ‘strong’ they are by blowing up a bunch of us.

      • Al Sieber

Bob Wire, Arizona is not a welfare state, it has gold and copper mining, and agriculture, national parks, good fishing and hunting. a big recreational industry, lots of natural resources. do your research.

        • Bob Wire

Actually I have! and was hoping someone might call me out on it Al.

You did well. ~ the cooper, gold and silver mining granted, I will buy but the rest of it?? ~ not so much.

But the number of people and the number of jobs available ~ even considering all the rosy numbers gross numbers failed to paint a pretty picture if you can read between the lines.

Unless people want to live in a state where the state is the largest employer, followed then by Walmart, I see it’s economic vitality debatable.

If it wasn’t for border crossing shoppers shopping Walmart, I question if Walmart would rate at all. ~~ Walmart is a huge attraction around all border towns. The reason are many and too long to get into ~ But Mexico’s markets and pricing are different from the US.

I found this quickly ~ and will dig for more when I’ve the time to make my case if one still needs to be made.

The 2006 total gross state product was $232 billion. If Arizona (and each of the other US states) were an independent country along with all existing countries (2005), it would have the 61st largest economy in the world (CIA – The World Factbook). This figure gives Arizona a larger economy than such countries as Ireland, Finland, and New Zealand. Arizona currently has the 21st largest economy among states in the United States. As a percentage of its overall budget, Arizona’s projected 1.7 billion deficit for ’09 is one of the largest in the country, behind such states as California, Michigan, and Florida, to name a few.[33]

The state’s per capita income is $32,935, ranking 43rd in the U.S. The state had a median household income of $50,958 making it 22nd in the country and just shy of the U.S. national median.[34] Early in its history, Arizona’s economy relied on the “five C’s”: copper (see Copper mining in Arizona), cotton, cattle, citrus, and climate (tourism). At one point Arizona was the largest producer of cotton in the country. Copper is still extensively mined from many expansive open-pit and underground mines, accounting for two-thirds of the nation’s output.

The state government is Arizona’s largest employer, while Wal-Mart is the state’s largest private employer, with 17,343 employees (2008). As of January 2010, the state’s unemployment rate is 9.2% “<<

interesting commentary, but very premature !

I could have make that up such a story myself in 15 minutes.

We should “limit immigration to that which improves our environment and our economy.” I vote for the environment first since sometimes economy means more people for cheap labor. Keep enough immigration to keep the population growth rate from going negative. A growing US population from immigration means more stress on our water, land development, and pollution. This means we need to lower the immigration numbers. As for the economy aspect keep those who are allowed to immigrate to people with skills to support themselves, or enough money to support themselves. There will still be illegal border crossings as long as there are incentives for coming here illegally. You can’t have one hand up at the border, and the other hand out with freebies at the state capital. Public assistance offered to illegal aliens at taxpayer expense (housing, medical care, transportation, food, clothing) are an incentive for coming here illegally so make it illegal to provide state and federal services aside from emergency room services. It’s not a matter of assisting a small or limited population. The services attract more people to come. Arizona spends over a billion dollars a year on these things with no Federal reimbursement. See article in my web link.

    • 45caliber

All legal immigration should be considered as Mexico does: i.e., if you can’t provide for yourself and your family and you can’t pay taxes from holding down a good job, you can’t come in. No unskilled people at all should be allowed in.

But LEGALLY there are about 500,000 Vietnamese brought it every year – none of whom have any training. And most now don’t bother to acquire it – unlike most Vietnamese who came here years ago. After all, they are given an apartment, a car, clothes, and way to pay for it all – for FREE! In fact, the government starts paying them welfare the second month they are here without even bothering to see if they might have gotten a job.

  • chucky

My prediction is that Arizona real estate which is the most deflated real estate market in the country except for Nevada(if this works for Arizona, Nevada should enact same law) will double in the next 18 months as illegals leave by the thousands for sanctuary cities(whose real estate will plummett) and states(real estate in santuary states will also plummett). I want to watch the federal government try the Arizona case on television just to see Eric Holder(probably will not have the guts to sit with the plantiff lawyers sent by Governments of Mexico,Bolivia, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Nicaragua, Paraguay and Peru)To be on the side of these countries and not on the side of the state of Arizona, shows you how out of touch this administration really is. They would arrest me,shake me down for money, deport me, in any of the countries filing against Arizona.if I was in their countries illegally. Where has common sense gone in our country. Is this administration maybe too intelligent with all of the Harvard graduates that their is a great wealth of book knowledge and bankrupt when it comes to applying common sense? just a thought

  • Brock Ostrom

I do not understand, there is immigration laws enforce them, we have a system for becoming a US citizen, it works. I lived in US for 38 years with a green card came from Canada, applied for citizenship 34 years ago and received it, 50 people received citizenship that day in Fort Wayne, IN followed the rules. There is a system it works, if your here illegally the law has the right to check and send you back!!! my father was eproted because of improper paperwork filings, only took 10 years then when he retired US gov’t sent him a SS check

    • 45caliber

Since many illegals “borrow” SS#s and birth certificates, they pay SS taxes (if they do at all) to those #s. But then they retire and file for SS under those numbers. How many of us have been “borrowed” from – and how many of us when we retire will suddenly find out that we can’t draw because someone overseas already is drawing for that number?

  • RichR

Most of your comments are dead on. Some of you are idiots, and I think you should know who you are. However, Phillip, you nailed it in you last paragraph. November may be our last chance to be free.

  • Rodney A.

You all should go read the Federal laws on this matter of illegal alien enforcement, i.e. Title 8, Section 1324 from which I quote ” (c) Authority to arrest
No officer or person shall have authority to make any arrests for a violation of any provision of this section except officers and employees of the Service designated by the Attorney General, either individually or as a member of a class, and all other officers whose duty it is to enforce criminal laws.”
And for those of you too “busy” (or lazy) to google it yourself here a link—-000-.html

    • 45caliber

And your point is …? Arizona passed a STATE law that simply duplicates the Federal law. So if they arrest someone against the STATE law they aren’t breaking the Federal law even though both are the same. And the STATE law says they will then contact the correct FEDERAL people to pick up those they found under the STATE law – as they already try to do.

  • talk radio listener

I would like to let Kinetic1 know that as a fact there are 80,000 Americans living and working in Calgary. We’re the largest American Canadian city in Canada. We, too, are BIG OIL up here. I have 2 daughters living and working in the U.S, living there legally, and now married to Americans. Let’s just work together, and stop this border crap. I admit it’s the Mexicans who are keeping the wages down in Texas, as when we were transferred down there, my kids couldn’t make minimum wage, because they could pay the Mexicans $2.50 hr. to work in the restaurants, so that is what they were paid as well. It’s the Americans taking advantage of the Mexican labour pool that is keeping them from closing those borders.

    • 45caliber

It isn’t just Texas that has the problem. I was up in Montana some time back. Nearly all the “cowboys” are now Mexican because they will work for less than an American does. And I would bet, if you looked around, you will find a lot of them in Calgary too.

    • Johnnyrite

      Good point talk radio,
The fact of the matter is that border between Canada and the U.S. should be open, just as they are in Europe. If a teacher from the U.K. wants to teach in France he is free to do so. As a person that lives in Western Canada I find that I have much more in common with Americans from the Western States — including core values — than I have with people from Toronto. I suspect if you asked someone from Montana they would say the same about us over “true blue” citizens that live in Baltimore.

Obama is not “norm of the day president.” When he said he promised “Change” we were so ignorant we forgot the first part of his phrase….America is the greatest country on Earth, I promise “Change.”
RED FLAG! Personally, I believe that ignorant changes are made and still to come. We cry about Socialism or worse. Well, we are getting “Change.”

The Canadian’s remarks are well taken. I wonder how he feels when Obama wants to give “Amnesty” to illegals? After all the ‘torment’ this Canadian endured, the steps he had to take to become an American Citizen, Amnesty must be like a slap in his face; As well, anyone who has had to go the proper route to enter the United States legally, fill out all of the paperwork, learn English, Take the exam and become a legal United States Citizen. Obama is over-stepping his bounds but that seems to the norm for the day with Obama. After all, he is President and feels he can promote and fulfull HIS “AGENDA.” If he cannot get his way with Congress, he issues Executive Order. Still, Congress acts like puppets and does Obama’s atrocious bidding. Where the hell are checks and balances?! Is Congress blindsided by all the favors promised to their States if they go along with the president’s insane ideas?

What goes around, comes around. My vote: 2012, Obama is dethroned.

If the Mexican border had enforcement that exists on the Canadian border, we would not have over 12 million illegal hispanics in our
country. I have never heard anyone say that there are 12 million
illegal Canadians in the US. Of course, the escaping Canadians would
probably not be attracted to voting for Progressives.

  • jay w

Arizona can’t afford to fix the streets . I don’t think they can do much more than finger print and photograph any illegals .

    • chucky

Plenty of money will be freed up with illegals leaving by the thousands to purchase more tents in Maracopia county.

Question of illegality? There is a vehicle to gain citizenship called Naturalization. Works well. I went thru the Naturalization process to set aside any question of citizenship.

    Way to go, Arizona!!

Question of language, alegiance and nationality:
ENGLISH, United States of America and AMERICAN. Let’s drop the hyphenation used to describe us.

Hyphenation is the most vile of all racist idea of all. You want to do away with racial discrimination at all levels? Then drop the hyphen; it relects your old country culture. Let the American culture prevail in us.

I am an AMERICAN, not Philipino-American; not Irish-American; not Afro-American; not Spanish-American nor any other ***-American. By the way,I can converse fairly well in Spanish and Tagalog; I chose English.

It is amusing to me but there is a law that forbids the government from collecting data that identifies race. But there are regulations that insist that you provide it for yourself and all your workers. Since the regulation is enforced and the law isn’t, everyone reports.

And another thing. There is NOTHING that says you must report any one certain race. You can be Swedish and insist you are black; you can be black and insist you are Swedish.

      • vicki

When asked my race I usually respond “human”

We have to keep talking IMPEACHMENT until our leaders? hear us. When the BUM leaves office all his new laws should be null and void. Just keep yelling “Where’s the birth certificate?” and why the hell haven’t we seen it two years ago? Boy are we being conned. REMEMBER COME NOVEMBER!

I understand many states are looking seriously into requiring all candidates for any office MUST provide proof of requirements for the office before they can be placed on a ballot.

Considering that several states like Texas can throw a Presidential election either way, it certainly would mean that ALL candidates for President MUST provide such data or they could expect to lose immediately.

I certainly hope these states (including Texas) passes that law next year.

  • BrotherPatriot

Once again I’ll say the same thing…ROOT level thinking. It goes hand in hand with common sense.

Anyone who stands in the way of a state trying to protect themselves from the massive amounts of illegals that are flooding into America…well, to me that’s down right un-American. Period. Anyone who tries to set up a vote to take the average American’s right to bear arms away…well, that’s down right un-American. Period. Passing a law that forces American’s to pay for the illegals health care and granting them rights…well, that’s down right un-American. I can go on and on and on and on. Indeed, we have an illegal alien for our President and common sense says that he would take the actions (or not take action) just as he is doing. His actions speak very loudly who he supports and it’s NOT the American people. All the people including the man sittin in my Persidents seat need to be removed from office. Period. Now that’s some common sense!

Common sense will fix America. Screw the special interests, the money, the powerful elites who think they are above the law, and the crooked officials who we have in our Government who attend the Bilderberg meetings and push their Agenda. They are all in bed together and this is all planned as they march us towards the NWO that they are trying to create. Indeed, Obummer is trying to set up a increased supporting base of voters when he/they try and give amnesty to the millions of illegals that are here. Common sense tells me…that’s down right un-American.

We NEED to vote out all the encumbants, all the people with ties with the Bilderberg group (all the various connecting organizations to them as well) and anyone who votes against the common sense (the will) of the American people. I personally think that the popular vote should count for more than it does. When the vast majority of America says they like or don’t like something…and our elected officials go against the grain…well, it’s our job to remove them from office. Period.

Vote in November for common sense and let’s get some REAL American representatives in office. We have to boot Peloski out and then we can IMPEACH Obummer for being the liar he is. We also then can allow the independent investigation of the 9/11 Architects & Engineers Petition to go through as well. Seriously, the can of worms that will be opened once this investigation begins will sweep through Washington like a hurricane. This is why it’s being blocked by the crooks who have circled their wagons to protect their own interests and cover each other back. It (common sense) can only be denied for so long…

On every level our immigration laws need to be enforced. Local law enforcement, State and at the Federal level. It doesn’t matter who’s legally enforcing it…just so long as immigration is being enforced. Period. It’s hand in hand with national security. Obummer’s crew saying that Arizona is trumped by them and has no legal right to try and protect their borders…is a PERFECT example of what is and what is not important to their administration. It most certainly isn’t the well being of America. The usurper is doing his damn best to divide us and cause problems in everything he touches.

    It’s just plain…Common sense.

Thank you, Mr. Myers for your excellent example of what being an immigrant who became an American is all about. I’m sorry you had to face difficult times but like the true American that you are…you weathered it just fine and persevered. Thank you for sharing your personal history to help shed light on this topic.

    Yol Bolsun.

This might be a shock to some of you, but Americans can be illegals as well. I am a Canadian and when I was a young man I had a close friend whose work wisa had expired. He was a graduate of the University of Minnesota, a hard working, God fearing person and we at work thought it was ridiclous that the Canadian Goverment was insisting on sending him “south across the border.” We were proud that he stuck it out and finally got clearence from the bureaucrats in Ottawa to work and live in Canada.

It is my opinion that the situation between Arizona and the Federal government can be handled through “contract” law.

To wit: The Constitution of the United States (hereafter referred to as the CONTRACT) is a “contract” between three parties: the United States (hereafter referred to as the Federal government), the States and the people.

A “contract” is binding upon those parties signatory to the “contract” and describes the nature, obligations, limits, etc. to which ALL parties MUST adhere for the “contract” to remain in force.

Under the “body” of the CONTRACT the Federal government is charged, among other obligations, with: 1) enforcing immigration laws; and 2) protecting the borders of the States.

To wit: The Federal government has abrogated its duty under the CONTRACT to properly enforce immigration laws and is in “breach-of-contract”. It is thus “right and proper” for the States and / or the people to rescind the “powers” to enforce immigration laws that were delegated to the Federal government by the body of the CONTRACT and to reclaim those “powers” to enforce immigration law for the States and the people under the 10th Amendment of the CONTRACT. These reclaimed “powers” remain with the States and the people until such time as the States and the people may once again choose to delegate those “powers” to the Federal government under the CONTRACT.

To wit: The Federal government has abrogated its duty under the CONTRACT to properly protect the borders and is in “breach-of-contract”. It is thus “right and proper” for the States and / or the people to rescind those “powers” from the Federal government that were delegated to the Federal government by the body of the CONTRACT and to reclaim those “powers” for the States and the people under the 10th Amendment of the CONTRACT. These reclaimed “powers” remain with the States and the people until such time as the States and the people may once again choose to delegate those “powers” to the Federal government under the CONTRACT.

It is my opinion that the State of Arizona should, as “right and proper”, declare the Federal government in “breach-of-contract” and formally rescind the “powers” delegated by the State of Arizona and the people of the Stated of Arizona to the Federal government to protect the borders of the State of Arizona and to control immigration into the State of Arizona for “breach-of-contract” with the State of Arizona and the people of the State of Arizona.

Additionally, it is my opinion that the State of Arizona should present the Federal government with a “demand” for recovery of the costs of carrying out the duties of protecting the borders of the State of Arizona and enforcing the immigration laws of the State of Arizona for the State of Arizona and the people of the State of Arizona. This is “right and proper” for the State of Arizona and the people of the State of Arizona have paid (through forcible taxation) to the Federal government for services that were to be provided by the Federal government under the CONTRACT but which the Federal government has, in breach of its contract with the State of Arizona and the people of the State of Arizona, failed to provide.

    • Albert W. L. Moore, Jr.

Darn straight, d’ accord in principle. The exact analysis might vary among reasonable people. The Constitution is a compact, covenant, or contract, with mutually reciprocal conditions. See “The Kentucky and Virginia Resolutions, Guideposts of Limited Government,” by William J. Watkins, Jr., When the federal government, basically the states in congress assembled, fails to guarantee a republican form of government or defend against invasion, or exceeds its specified powers, the states are excused from obeying prohibitions such as those against the issuance of letters of marque and reprisal, making war, etc., without the dissolution of the eternal union created by the contract, the Constitution.

    • 45caliber

The main problem with Contract Law is that most law has been changed to Contract Law since about 1930 or so. I’d prefer to go back to Criminal Law. It might encourage more of our polititions to pay more attention to what they are doing. Right now, if they can insist they were following Contract Law, they can do just about anything. That’s what the Commerce Clause is considered in the Constitution by Congress. Instead of telling Congress that the Contract Law doesn’t cover what they want to do so change it, Congress should be told that they just broke the law and are to get jail time.

Only right they have is to do it legally> Our taxes are supporting them so they don’t care and Pres is going to raise taxes more.. Get him out of office and enforce State laws..AZ isn’t the only state to have similar laws. Give us real Americans a break and stop the illegals no matter where they are from.

  • Marilyn

I have read that our immigration laws were created by the KKK. And we really didn’t have any before 1923.

    • 45caliber

Paris Island was the point where all LEGAL immigrants were to come into our country a lot earlier than 1920. And I seriously doubt if the KKK had any part of those laws. Any illegals who came in basically were ignored because there was too much land available then. Besides, those who did come wanted to be American – and were willing to learn English, etc. to be American. Even if they were Chinese or Irish who were brought in to build the Continental Railroad.

  • mavis

The dirty little tale about this story is that the police did not care if he was legal or not. All of these
people who do not care is the forrunner of the mess we are in today. It was and still is against the law to come into the USA illegally. If America would just enforce the immigration laws, just like all other countries do, there would not be so many people who would

    • Albert W. L. Moore, Jr.

Mr. Obama, probably a former U.S. citizen become illegal immigrant and communist agent, is out to eliminate any limitation on illegal immigration by complete non-enforcement by the federal government and by the states. The troops he sends to the border are to give illegal immigrants armed escorts into the U.S. State investigations into Mr. Obama’s eligibility are long overdue. Presidential electors are appointed by the states. U.S. Const. Art. II Sec. 1. If electors were pledged to an ineligible candidate, their appointments should be rescinded. To determine whether Obama lost citizenship, the states must review his entire life history.

the first immigration or naturalization law was enacted in 1790. they were selective as to who entered the country. “whiteness” eventually the law was liberalized. you should read the history of the kkk i would think they would be a big topic in todays liberal education and they certainly didn’t have the power to pass any legislation. they were mostly democrats.

    • 45caliber

The fact that they were mostly Democrats is the reason there isn’t much taught about the KKK in schools. After all, you don’t want your voter base to realize they are voting for the party that wanted to keep their ancestors as slaves, would you?

  • Korean War Vet

He was in your country legally to start with. That cannot compare to the rising tide of illegals that are smothering our country in general and Arizona in particular.

And while I am on the subject I check owners manuals, etc., when I buy any device that has one. If the instructions are in spanish and other languages I buy something else. The spanish printing requires the hiring of translators, extra proof reading and printing costs, extra shipping costs for the additional weight of product, etc.

This is America and should be for Americans first. Unfortunately I don’t have a choice when I vote and have to pay for printing ballots in spanish so that the illegals and illiterates can vote.

I saw a list of countries that we pay welfare (foreign aid) to some time back. Only two countries weren’t on the list. One is the location of Monte Carlo (640 acres). The other is a small (128 acres) country between Spain and Portugal where the extended members of only one family lives.

ALL other countries in the world get at least $10 million a year from us. (This is to insure they will be friends with us.) If we didn’t pay any of it, we could have balanced our budget then. (Not now, thanks to the latest spending spree.)

  • Albert W. L. Moore, Jr.

John Myers says, with touching naiveté, “It is hard for me to understand why the Obama administration is challenging assistance from local law enforcement when clearly the Federal government needs all the help it can get.”

“Why” is that Mr. Obama (not President until he proves eligibility) wants every last illegal immigrant to come into the U.S. as fast as possible. Each is a potential Democratic voter. Following mass illegal immigration, actually an invasion, mass amnesty would be conferred, perhaps administratively. Mass naturalization would follow mass amnesty. Voila’! Forty million or so voters controlled by Mr. Obama, who already has control of a vast bloc by pretending to be black. (His claimed alien black Luo father was probably adoptive; his warm mahogany complexion is probably the legacy of a predominantly Polynesian mother.)

To the end of accelerating this invasion, Mr. Obama sends troops to the border to give illegal aliens safe passage into the U.S., with perhaps some collateral inhibition of violence that raises a hue and cry and a call for effective border control. To that end, he not only limits or eliminates federal defenses against illegal immigration, he sues to prevent Arizona’s enforcement, too.

Arizona should do more. It needs to convert its National Guard to state militia and sever the Guard’s ties to the federal government. There will be fewer casualties on both sides if the Arizona militia patrols its border with armor.

Mr. Myers is correct that the enforcement of the immigration laws would be very effective in correcting and deterring illegal immigration. That’s why Mr. Obama fights it. He is in cahoots with El Presidente Calderone, who says Mexico is wherever Mexicans are. In case Mr. Myers has not heard, Mexico has never accepted America’s annexation of much of its territory after the 19th-century war with Mexico. The U.S. could have annexed the entire nation, but we did not want to have so many Mexicans in our population, for fear our nation would become like the Mexican nation, basically feudal, corrupt, violent and lawless, whose people were subjects, not citizens.

    • 45caliber

I’m sorry but many of your comments show a lack of education and a flare for conspiracy drama. You should rethink and start over.

  • Carol Hitchcock

My experience is not as drastic but I too had a confrontation with the U. S. border crossing agents, year 2003, returning from Sarnia, Ont. and entering the U. S. via Port Huron. I had carried a green card since 1959 with regular renewals but this one unknowinly expired. They stopped me, took my card away, fined me on the spot for about $200.00 and told me they could send me back to Canada. I had lived in the U. S. for 46 years, with children, paid taxes, owned a home, law abiding citzen. This was upsetting so I proceeded with legalization which took a year, appointments with a stone faced foreign agent, and several hundred dollars. Am I glad I went to the expense of doing this the right way. I am proud of it. I am not for amnesty. What about those of us who do what is right? Can we now get a refund and get amnesty? I think we too should line up for this with a refund from the government. Good luck, eh? Carol, whose blood boils when amnesty is mentioned.

    • 45caliber

You don’t want to have to pay now, Carol. My daughter-in-law is from the Phillippines. It cost my son – so far – several THOUSAND dollars to get her here legally as well as costs on her end. It took about a year and a half to get the papers straight and then months more after she got here to get a driver’s license and similar papers.

So far she hasn’t tried to change her nationality because she and my son are both fearful that with the ‘changes’ Oblama is making that they may need to move to the Phillippines to be free.

I am an Arizona resident. I own and operate two businesses in this state. I am very close to the Mexican border and I deal with Border Patrol, DEA, FBI, Police, Sheriffs, etc. The stories I hear make me very sad. We now are warned not to drive in the country by ourselves. This comes from Border Patrol. The illegals will run you off the road and take your vehicle. Mexicans are coming across the border, getting help from WIC, taking the food back and selling it in their stores. The illegals are so blatant that older people are confined to their homes for fear of being harmed. They break into houses and rob them. They tear up property. No one is safe. I’m sorry. They have become so blatant and disregard our laws. They are not afraid of us. They dare us to do anything. I am in the midst of this and I’m telling you, Americans have had enough. There is going to be bloodshed and you can blame that ignorant thing we have in the White House. He is an abomination to free loving people. I was once a Democrat and then I grew up. I got out and smelled the roses and I didn’t like the stink they were throwing our way. Now I fight them with every breath in me. Never have I seen such disregard for our constitution and our way of life. Soros pulls Obama’s strings. Obama was raised by Marxists and grew up with these ideas. He and his wife, who incidentally can no longer practice law, I understand…hmmm, wonder what she did, are a disgrace to hardworking Americans. I work for a living and will go to my grave working because Obama wants to take away from me and give to the no-goods. Funny…there are now more Democrats or ex-Democrats attending the Tea Parties (as well as minorities) than ever before. They’re growing up and becoming wise. They see where we are heading and they don’t like it either. November can’t come soon enought!!!

    • 45caliber

Keep in mind that this may be the “crisis” he needs to declare martial law prior to the November elections. We’re tired of the screw ups like you that can’t read and write and are raping the country while we toil to pay for your stupidity. You need to grow up, look around you and realize there is no free lunch. Of course, I doubt you can understand that.

Was the fence not tall enough we sent you?

I don’t mean to make light of your problem but I only poke at you for where you assign the blame.

This is serious , too serious to play partisan politics with.

Let’s see what the highest court in the land permits ~ and we’ll go from there. If you will remember 22 out of the last 30 years the GOP set in the White House and were in position to address this matter.

        >>”The Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2008, required DHS to complete construction
by December 31, 2008, of either 370 miles or other mileage determined by the Secretary, of reinforced fencing along the southwest border wherever the Secretary determines it would be most practical and effective in deterring smugglers and aliens attempting illegal entry. This provision also required the construction of reinforced fencing along a total of not less than 700 miles of the southwest border where fencing would be most practical and effective, but it did not establish a deadline for completion of the full 700 miles. DHS set a goal to complete approximately 670 miles of fencing by December 31, 2008. In December 2008, DHS reported that it planned to complete all but one of the fence projects by March 2009.”<<

Did you not get your fence Barbara?

This belongs in the “Email Hall of Fame”

And it came to pass in the Age of Insanity that the people of the land called America , having lost their morals, their initiative, and their will to defend their liberties, chose as their Supreme Leader that person known as “The One.”

He emerged from the vapors with a message that had no meaning; but He hypnotized the people telling them, “I am sent to save you.” My lack of experience, my questionable ethics, my monstrous ego, and my

association with evil doers are of no consequence. I shall save you

with hope and Change. Go, therefore, and proclaim throughout the

land that he who proceeded me is evil, that he has defiled the nation, and that all he has built must be destroyed. And the people rejoiced, for even though they knew not what “The One” would do, he had promised that it was good; and they believed. And “The One” said ” We live in the greatest country in the world. Help me change everything about it!” And the people said, “Hallelujah! Change is good!”

Then He said, “We are going to tax the rich fat-cats.” And the

people said “Sock it to them!” “And redistribute their wealth.” And

the people said, “Show us the money!” And the he said, ”

redistribution of wealth is good for everybody.”

And Joe the plumber asked, ” Are you kidding me? You’re going to

steal my money and give it to the deadbeats??” And “The One”

ridiculed and taunted him, and Joe’s personal records were hacked and publicized. One lone reporter asked, “Isn’t that Marxist policy?” And she was banished from the kingdom!

Then a citizen asked, “With no foreign relations experience and

having zero military experience or knowledge, how will you deal with

radical terrorists?” And “The One” said, “Simple. I shall sit with

them and talk with them and show them how nice we really are; and they will forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!” And the people said, “Hallelujah!! We are safe at last, and we can beat our weapons into free cars for the people!”

Then “The One” said “I shall give 95% of you lower taxes.” And one,

lone voice said, “But 40% of us don’t pay ANY taxes.” So “The One”

said, “Then I shall give you some of the taxes the fat-cats pay!”

And the people said, “Hallelujah! Show us the money!”

Then “The One” said, “I shall tax your Capital Gains when you sell

your homes!” And the people yawned and the slumping housing market

collapsed. And He said. “I shall mandate employer-funded health care

for every worker and raise the minimum wage. And I shall give every

person unlimited healthcare and medicine and transportation to the

clinics.” And the people said, “Give me some of that!”

Then he said, “I shall penalize employers who ship jobs overseas.”

And the people said, “Where’s my rebate check?”

Then “The One” said, “I shall bankrupt the coal industry and

electricity rates will skyrocket!” And the people said, “Coal is

dirty, coal is evil, no more coal! But we don’t care for that part

about higher electric rates.” So “The One” said, Not to worry. If

your rebate isn’t enough to cover your expenses, we shall bail you out.

Just sign up with the ACORN and you troubles are over!”

Then He said, “Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let’s

grant them amnesty, Social Security, free education, free lunches,

free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing…” And

the people said, “Hallelujah!” and they made him king!

    Error! Filename not specified.

And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and

ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others

simply gave up and went out of business and the economy sank like unto

a rock dropped from a cliff.

The banking industry was destroyed. Manufacturing slowed to a

crawl. And more of the people were without a means of support.

Then “The One” said, “I am the “the One”- The Messiah – and I’m here

to save you! We shall just print more money so everyone will have

enough!” But our foreign trading partners said unto Him. “Wait a

minute. Your dollar is not worth a pile of camel dung! You will have

to pay more… And “The One” said, “Wait a minute. That is

unfair!!” And the world said, “Neither are these other idiotic

programs you have embraced. Lo, you have become a Socialist state and

a second-rate power. Now you shall play by our rules!”

And the people cried out, “Alas, alas!! What have we done?” But yea

verily, it was too late. The people set upon The One and spat upon

him and stoned him, and his name was dung. And the once mighty nation

was no more; and the once proud people were without sustenance or

shelter or hope. And the Change “The One” had given them was as like

unto a poison that had destroyed them and like a whirlwind that

consumed all that they had built.

And the people beat their chests in despair and cried out in anguish,

“give us back our nation and our pride and our hope!!” But it was too

late, and their homeland was no more.

You may think this a fairy tale, but it’s not.

    It’s happening RIGHT NOW

It is the National Socialist Democrat Union Party mantra, always has been and alway will be. Democrats beleive in everything you have, is for “government” needs, everyone should give to everyone else, what ever you saved or have earned. The lazier and corrupt, then you are advanced higher and become advisor, as you can go up in the party ranks.. You gain status and extra points for being a worthless whorehound, criminal, and double points for being a woman abuser and/or a queer steer. Now with the marxist muslim USA hater, sheparding the communist democrat smucks in Congress to try and totally destroy America in a couple years. Still love the sorry bastards, who are with out any functioning brain cells, who still buy his purple lipped lies that the media swear as truth!

46% of all latinos were born in America. 32% were born in Mexico and some of those are now citizens. There are 47 million latinos in this country. Two surveys done by Nielsen Co. and Stanford U. Fewer than 1 in 5 immigrants from latino countries say they arrived here in the last 10 years. 1/4 have said they have been here at least 3 decades. Sure we need to control the border but these figures show that the majority of latinos came here long before Obama became President. It is a problem that he will have to solve and not by going after Az. He needs to get his plan laid out, show the urgency of it to the American people, get a plan passed and then enforce it. The majority of Latinos are legal and productive citizens so let’s not crank up falsehoods.

    • chuck b

you are more interested in protecting barry than the illegal problem.
if i remember right barry is the only president in our history that has brought suit against a state for trying to protect its borders from an invasion of undocumented democrats. so that kind of takes care of mr. barry soetoro. a complete failure.

The fact that everyone thinks Tomato’s will cost $5.00 if illegals are removed shows lack of facts. The true problem with the illegal’s coming across the border, are the extremists who also make it across. With all the radicals in the world (many nationalities behind bars for crossing illegally) it is only a matter of time before a “Dirty Bomb” is smuggled in to the US. Who’s city will it be…does it matter? Our borders need to be secured. Obama be damned, he can go back to Kenya!!!

    Your Social Security:

Just in case some of you young whippersnappers (& some older ones) didn’t know this.
It’s easy to check out, if you don’t believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids.
They need a little history lesson on what’s what . . . . . and it doesn’t matter whether you are Democrat or Republican.
    Facts are Facts!!!
Social Security Cards up until the 1980s expressly stated the number and card were not to be used for identification purposes.
Since nearly everyone in the United States now has a number, it became convenient to use it anyway and the message was removed.
An old Social Security card with the “NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION” message.

    Our Social Security

    Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat,
introduced the Social Security (FICA) Program.
    He promised:

1.) That participation in the Program would be
    Completely voluntary,

    No longer Voluntary

2.) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
    Incomes into the Program,

    Now 7.65% . . . . on the first $90,000

3.) That the money the participants elected to put
into the Program would be deductible from
their income for tax purposes each year,

    No longer tax deductible

4.) That the money the participants be put into the independent ‘Trust Fund’
rather than into the general operating fund, and therefore,
would only be used to fund the Social Security Retirement Program,
    and no other Government program.

Under Johnson the money was moved to
    The General Fund and Spent.

    5) That the annuity payments to the retirees would never be taxed as income

    Under Clinton & Gore
Up to 85% of your Social Security can be Taxed

Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month –
and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government
to ‘put away’ — you may be interested in the following:

    ———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— —-

Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the independent ‘Trust Fund’
and put it into the general fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratically
    controlled House and Senate.

    ———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— –

Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?

    A: The Democratic Party.

    ———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— —–
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social Security annuities?

    A: The Democratic Party,
with Al Gore casting the ‘tie-breaking’ deciding vote as President of the Senate,
while he was Vice President of the US

    ———— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— ——— -

And until recently, many “do-gooders” FAVORITE leader (???) :

Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving annuity payments to immigrants?

    A: That’s right!

Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.
Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65,
began to receive Social Security payments!
The Democratic Party gave these payments to them,
even though they never paid a dime into it !

    ———— — ———— ——— —– ———— ——— ———

Then, after violating the original contract (FICA),
the Democrats turn around and tell you that the Republicans want to take your Social Security away!

The worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it, and believe that the Democats are “for the people.”

If enough people receive this, maybe a seed of awareness will be planted and maybe changes will evolve.
    Maybe not . . . . . . some Democrats are awfully sure . . . . . of what isn’t so.

But it’s worth a try. How many people can YOU send this to?

Actions speak louder than bumper stickers.

    • American Citizen

You do realize the left doesn’t care about facts. It’s very evident by their posts here. They only confuse them and do, as President Reagan said, believe so much that’s not so.

    • Bob Wire

Hmm? ~ these some truth to your post ~ so I looked into it.

      Income Thresholds
There are two separate income thresholds for filers that will determine whether they have to pay tax on their Social Security benefits. Here is a breakdown of the categories:

      - Income Percentage of Social Security Taxable
Single, Head of Household, Qualifying Widower and Married Filing Separately
(where the spouses lived apart the entire year) Below $25,000 All SS income is tax-free
$25,000 – $34,000 Up to 50% of SS income may be taxable
$34,000 and up Up to 85% of SS may be taxable
Married Filing Jointly Below $32,000 All SS income is tax-free
$32,000 – $44,000 Up to 50% of SS income may be taxable
$44,000 and up Up to 85% of SS may be taxable

That government way of making you live like a church mouse. They are figuring one have an estate, paid for properties. etc.

It suck, but it truly only a safety net for the people that fall through the cracks and make it to their later years. Many perhaps undeserving.

I know my Grand father got little yet he paid little. ~ as you attempt compare 1942 dollars with 1965 dollars.

But what would pickup all the loose ends as old age and human drama sets the stage? ~ What’s our options? Widow and survivor benefits?

What does other country’s do? Do like the Indians, leave the aging in the woods to die?

Maybe I shouldn’t ~ but I’ve accepted life as not being fair ~ but it’s good to discuss such things, at least know how and when you’re being screwed and not kissed.

I’ve always thought taxes paid are taxed!

One of the issues facing New Mexicans is the fact that our drivers licenses are corrupt and therefor not suitable for an ID. This is the fault of our liberal masters and their quest for the everbroadening voter base. I don’t know if New Mexicans are smart enough to end this plague but many of us are trying. Vote out the career politicians! Oh and one other thing, Employers who “knowingly” have illegals in their employ should be fined ruinously. that would stop that crap.

  • James A Graham

This is so simply put – how can anyone not understand this ? ? ? ? ?

This was written by a Mexican who is now a naturalized US Citizen, and I think it’s a great explanation of the illegal immigration issue.

    Here is the quote:

“If you had tickets to a sports event, concert, Disneyland, or for an airline flight, and when you got to your assigned seat you found someone else was in that seat, what would you do? You would call for a person in charge of ticket checking and have the person in your seat removed. You would properly be asked to show your ticket, and you would gladly and proudly do so, for you have bought and paid for that seat. The person in your seat would also be asked for a ticket, which they would not be able to produce. They would be called “gate crashers” and they would properly be removed.

Now in this huge stadium called the USA we have had millions of gate crashers. We have been asking security to check for tickets and remove the gate crashers. We have been asking security to have better controls in checking at the door. We have asked security to lock the back doors. Security has failed us. They are still looking the other way. They are afraid to ask to see the tickets. Many people say there is unlimited seating, and whether there is or not, no one should be allowed in for free while the rest of us pay full price!

In “section AZ”, of “Stadium USA “, we have had enough of the failures of Security. We have decided to do our own ticket checking, and properly remove those who do not have tickets. Now it seems very strange to me that so many people in the other 49 “sections”, and even many in our own “section” do not want tickets checked, or even to be asked to show their ticket! Even the head of Security is chastising us, while not doing his own job which he has sworn to do.

My own ticket has been bought and paid for, so I am proudly going to show it when asked to do so. I have a right to my seat, and I want the gate crashers to be asked to show their tickets too. The only reason that I can imagine anyone objecting to being asked for their ticket is that they are in favor of gate crashing, and all of the illegal activities that go with it, such as drug smuggling, gang wars, murder, human smuggling for profit, and many more illegal and inhumane acts that we are trying to prevent with our new legislation. Is that what I am hearing from all of the protestors such as Phoenix Mayor Gordon, US Rep. Grijalva, even President Obama? If you are not in favor of showing tickets, (proof of citizenship, passport, green card, or other legal document) when asked, as I would do proudly, then you must be condoning those illegal activities.”

Written by a US Citizen, Globe, Arizona .

This makes perfect sense to me. What do you think?

Since Obama has never shown his ticket I guess he feels obligated to not ask others to show theirs.

  • Bob Wire

    Immigration reform is much needed?

We need clearer guidelines and a better system.

the liberal mind is something to behold. instead of obeying the law of the land, they always insist on reforming, that means let us do it another way so it doesn’t look like we are breaking the law. why not just obey the law!!! there’s nothing wrong with the federal immigration law except barry hasn’t figured out how to get those illegal votes registered legally. immigration reform, baloney!!!

      • Bob Wire

I was thinking the conservative CINO’s mindset creates as much problems as it corrects ~ Chuck! They will find a problem if they have to create one.

They tend to “assume” whatever TheY are thinking, “everyone else is too”

under some twisted illusion they/themselves are normal, mature responsible, mindful citizens and are under attack by “lesser ones” with evil intentions.

It’s an ongoing Self validating thought process, coupled with perceived provocation, of being forced to act in a preemptive manner. “get them first, before they get you!”

        A neurosis, a mental disorder.

Listen to me ~ It’s no ones job to taking the responsibility for your thoughts except yourselves. You created them , you own them and their all yours and yours alone.

You can enjoy sharing them with “like minds” here on this forum as it “panders to this minds set” as this neurosis is not unique but is feed and groomed here as Mr. Livingston & Myer serves it up daily.

The upside to all of this mental masturbation, is that it takes a good criminal mind to catch a criminal. Not having one of my own, I’ll use yours to stay abreast of all the twisted thoughts that’s floating around and stay forewarned of their existence. If it wasn’t for you I’d be constantly blindsided. (that’s a compliment dip stick)

As for illegal immigration? We are attempting to discuss matters of dog ownership while you chose to discuss flees. Being unable or unwilling to separate the flea from the dog.

This would be fine if it was a matter of dogs and if we should we own one or not.~

But it “people” and they are already in the house with us, making any decision more pressing.

Perhaps the CINO’s inside the GOP/bagger’s might consider widening their appeal to attract wider number of both current and new Americans?

No? ~~ well how does one to expect a minority to rule under the present system, one person , one vote and a majority mandate?

John Myers HE WAS NEVER AN ILLEGALS! under the law any children form at least on side parent that is a US citizwen is a US citizen at birth! so his comments as an illegal are mute just like your writings!!!!

  • Larry

People call me a conspiracy theorist just because I think outside the box but, here’s my theory on why the Obama Regime doesn’t want SB1070. It has nothing to do with anything Obama is saying. People should realize by now that he lies every time he opens his mouth.

Here is what is going on, in my opinion. He is a Muslim, he embraces Islam, he says that the United States is the world’s largest Muslim country. Come on people, let’s wake up!! Obama WANTS the United States to be the world’s largest Muslim country. That’s why he is being very soft on radical muslims.

Look at it this way, a large percentage of our troops are in Iraq and Afghanistan. The troops that are here are spread thin, thanks to GW who didn’t want a draft [this is all by design]. So, with 30 million illegal immigrants in the United States [who by the way are not all Mexican or Canadian] and the backdoor [U.S./Mexican border] is breached doesn’t that make it real easy to take over the United States? Especially when it’s rather obvious that Obama is usurping the presidency and he obviously hates America.

Top that with a government that wants to outlaw ALL guns and you have a situation on your hands. If citizens have no guns, it makes it very difficult to defend anything.

The Obama Regime would dearly love a sizable uprising to occur. That would make them feel justified in calling in the UN. The UN would immediately assume authority leaving our troops at home powerless. If that should happen it would end up being a door to door search for anything the UN considers a weapon.

If all of our weapons are confiscated, that essentially leaves the front door open. Now you have the “enemy” pouring into the United States from two different directions. God help us!

A couple thousand immigrants sneaking into the United States is illegal immigration. Thirty million is an invasion force awaiting their orders.

Think it can’t happen. Look at what Hitler did to Europe.

  • aferd daberts,

I like long walks, especially when taken by someone else, and I sure would like to see Obama take one, on a short pier.
Well enough of this idle chit-chat. So on a more serious note, this is my solution: We must first sublimate the imponderable eventualities, but only if we finalize the extemporaneous intricacies of the universal consciousness. Or in layman’s terms “Impeach the bastard”.

  • Lyle

I have missed the solution to the whole immigration problem in all the chatter. Two of the most effective measures we can take is to use the same laws against any illegle border jumper that his own country uses against same in his country. Next is to cut any and all public assistance in the entire country except to disabled vets. Then set up our military on the border with quad 50,s every 200 yards the entire length. And shoot any thing heading north, down south, and heading south up north .any of them going south at the mex. border , give a sack lunch and a bottle of pepsi. If all welfare was cut off in good ol free America there would be enough people competing for those jobs americans dont like to do , we wouldn’t need one cotton picking Mexican anyhow. Lyle

    • Palin12

I have another idea. Let’s deport all the illegals to LA and Frisco.

  • Bob Wire

“Bring him out here Sheriff! We’ll give him a fair trial and hang him!”

  • Lyle

Bob, You are surely one benefitting from the ( free America) routine and would show much displeasure in filling a mexicans job , before the hanging. Is that a probability?

How you figure? ~ since I’m 62, an independent contractor, state license holder since 85, insured for 5 mill general liability, 42 years in trade, self employed since 79 and operate on the crest of any economy wave, living on wit and cash flow.

I compete with market shares as illegals flood across the border and set up shop, driving both my market share and profit margins down as I contend all rules, reg’s, laws and bylaws of both state and each individual municipal governments, plus the Fed, while “Lupe” doesn’t?

Should I “assume” you are affected by illegal immigration much more the I?

Who can trust the Federal government? My answer is, no one! The party loyalty and party control through bullying, pay offs and dishonesty is a norm. No longer do we have a government of the people, by the people and more important, for the people. The Federal government enforeces the laws it wants to and ignors the laws it is not politicaly expediant to enforce. Obama is sueing Arizona, but not sueing those who declare themselves as sanctuaries for illegal alliens. This shows it all! The Obama administration is the most corrupt, dishonest and anti-American force ever. Through it’s road of Economic Destruction of this Nation, foementing class and racial warfare and attacts on our Constitutional protections, it may already be to late to save this once great Nation. We may have well passed the crossroads, but in 2010 and 2012 we may be able to have a second chance and save our Country, MAYBE.

  • IndyRN

Let’s try to avoid pointing fingers at past presidents. NO presidents, going all the back to our country’s founding, have done anything positive to prevent or even slow down the ILLEGAL ALIEN infestation of our country. So, let’s be concerned with what’s being done NOW. Not only is Nothing Positive being done by the Obama Whitehouse, but what IS being done or attempted will be harmful to us honest, hard working citizens of the USA. Obama and several congressmen want to make the USA a third world country by opening our borders. Open borders would bring in a flood of cheap labor. Open borders would change our social fabric overnight by normalizing such things as “Press 1 for English”, and by overlooking a person’s legal status, point of origin (especially terrorists), and “official” language (English is still our language whether some people are embarrassed or guilt-riddened by that or not). And maybe the biggest problem and the one most impossible to ignore is the huge strain on our economy. Social Security, banking, education, healthcare, infrastructure, etc would all eventually collapse under the strain – it’s close Now. Why do we need to put us honest, hard working Americans through this societal apocalypse? Just to make a few people who are embarrassed about being Americans a little less embarrassed? Or do some of us Americans feel bad that other countries think we are arrogant? That’s a hell of a price to pay for that. Don’t ya think? Or do elements in our government and business community have selfish hidden motives for opening us America to EVERYONE? I’m a white male, who was born here yet nobody asked me what I want my society to be. Like many millions of others who are like me, I do not want MY country to become the World’s Grand Bazaar of cultures. I prefer the “American Culture” – people wanting to be and live like Americans. And please don’t tell me that the “American Culture” is a “Melting Pot”. That’s BS! It’s never worked that way and I really don’t see a need for it to be that way. You live in America? Then live like Americans. That’s the most important thing. Be loyal to America and hang on to your culture if you choose, but decide that it will always be subordiante to the American Culture. Feel any different? The go back to or stay in your own country. Make it easier for all of us.

      Well Said Indy RN.
The USA was started intitially by people looking for a change, a group that came to a decison to do it their way….the American Way. They were immigrants themselves. English is the language most spoke, and the American Culture was started. Why then cannot this country ask that people who immigrate here, LEGALLY, who want to come here, to respecet our country for what it is, follow our guidelines, make English their number one language, and freely use another language should they so chose. All we ask is that if you want to come here do it legally. And don’t expect us to change our rules for you…
We have an immigration policy, it should be enforced. But it is not! That is the reason that Arizona is working as it is to defend its own borders from within. Politics, whether conservative, liberal, or independent will not let it happen from a federal level.

  • Annjette

Illegal is not a race. Illegal is a behavior. We have an immigration policy in the USA. When people come into the USA “illegally” it is breaking the law. Look at the immigration policies in other countries. Look at the immigration policies in MEXICO. Being a foreign national doesn’t give anyone the “right” to break the law. We as US citizens would be held accountable if we broke the law in any other country. (Check out the story of Joran Van Der Sloot.) I live in a border state, (bordering Mexico.) I know the crime & drugs that cross the border & have affected our state. Arizona’s law is legal, lawful & not racial profiling (unless “illegal is a race,” which I’m sure it’s not. Anyone could be asked if they are legal. Everyone should be glad to prove they are legal (if they are legal) & expect to subject to the penalties of law, if they are not legal citizens nor legal aliens. The issues if crime, breaking the law, or obeying the law. Life isn’t easy but if every one of us does exactly what we please, what kind of country will this be? Do you want the anarchy a do as you please government would bring to our country? I don’t. “Your rights end where my nose begins” applies to individuals & to countries. Wake up America.

CBP’s SBI program office is responsible for managing the SBI program and for developing a comprehensive border protection system. This system has two main components: SBInet, which employs radars, sensors, and cameras to detect, identify, and classify the threat level associated with an illegal entry into the United States between the ports of entry, and SBI tactical infrastructure (TI), fencing, roads, and lighting intended to enhance U.S. Border Patrol agents’ ability to respond to the area of the illegal entry and bring the situation to a law enforcement resolution (i.e., arrest). The current focus of the SBI program is on the southwest border areas between ports of entry that CBP has designated as having the highest need for enhanced border security because of serious vulnerabilities. <>In 1921 the nation’s first immigration law based on national quotas was passed into law; and three years later, in March of 1924, The New York Times editorialized:”The country has a right to say who shall and who shall not come in . .. the basis of restriction must be chosen with a view not to the interest of any group or groups in this country, . . . but rather with a view to the country’s best interests as a whole.”

Well? ~ it's true everybody don't wears bed sheet over their heads to hide their identity as they carry out racial assaults on people unlike themselves only to be sitting in the A-men section every Sunday morning.

I'm truly sorry to have to tell you this ~ But America is a Melting Pot of mongrels that all came from somewhere else, even the natives!

They all fight our wars, pay taxes, have voting rights and make babies.

What do you think about that?

Myself, I'm Germanic and like the Great Vikings that invaded Eastern Europe ~ we will be assimilated by a woman pretty smile ~ it just requires time and this hate to fade. In the end, she will win.

  • IndyRN

“I’m truly sorry to have to tell you this ~ But America is a Melting Pot of mongrels that all came from somewhere else, even the natives!”

Well, Bob Wire, you just proved my point. A Melting Pot would melt/meld all components into Americans. Of course each would still possess a heritage unique to themselves but they would be loyal to America. They would accept English as the “official” (certainly, the majority)language, and they would be trying to be better Americans instead of flying their flags and getting up in Americans’ faces about their culture and heritage. They “all came from somewhere else” but they all came together to form a union, a new country, a place where they could all become Americans. I used to work with a quite militant latina who used to proclaim, “Let’s celebrate our diversity”. I told her that “Diversity usually means Divisiveness”. An example: Mexicans who come to this country seem more proud to be of mexican descent than to be American. Why is that? That is a good example the mindset of Diversity. We should be Celebrating our “Sameness” as Americans. We Americans DO have an American heritage and an American culture here, so why not celebrate that? Sure, hang onto your heritage but don’t forget that this is America and you came here to be Americans. Do they really think they can come to America and get in our face about their heritage and then have any hope of being accepted by American society? Those people should have stayed where they came from. It would have been a lot easier for them. Ghetto? Hood? Barrio? Melting Pot?? You just need to admit that there are some “chunks” that just do NOT melt in the pot.

    • Bob Wire

“You just need to admit that there are some “chunks” that just do NOT melt in the pot.” True! nor should they.

But it’s each Americans job to help teach this “American Way” and this is best done by example. Practice! Patience!

Yet I was never asked to give up my ethnicity. I never will forget the first time I made the Worst-fest in New Braunfels, Texas. It was quite an experience, it was so strange to look into the faces of thousands of blue and green eyed people any direction you wished to look. So many! I was home! But yes, you are right ! We are Americans first! America accepted us as we accepted and tamed the American frontier. We each have a story. The Irish have a similar story as we see immigration reform of 1965 was promoted by Ted Kennedy and favored the Irish.

Time marches forward and stand still for no one.

  • Bob Wire

RN, I respect your views and held much the same views years ago. I do understand as I too carry some pride of my linage. ~ I am blue eyed white man of Germanic decent and take pride of our rich history, with some exceptions of course. Great craftsmen, tool and weapon makers, we are very picky by nature. Just anything, won’t do. And our women are so beautiful and they make pretty babies.

I served in the US Army and lives through some “on base” black race riots that needless to say, no one ever heard of. They didn’t happen.

I later lived shoulder to shoulder with men of all races are we endured triple canopy jungle, constant rain and mud, weltering heat, bugs the size of mice and white hot flake so thick in the air you could walk on it. It’s during such times you “learn” to celebrate our differences and it all start with respect.

I’m not suggesting that it’s easy ~ I’m suggesting to you, your love for living will improve if you try. As you were told by someone greater then I ,to love your enemies. I don’t see them as enemies but it seems like you might. This hate is just baggage and drags you down.

I’m not suggesting you be a sap or a fool. I’m suggesting it not in your power to change the natural progression of life. You and I are not that important and not that powerful.

You fight a losing battle. The best you can hope for is delaying the inevitable. Like it?, don’t like it? It matters little to the rest of the world.

You can rally your banner, gather like minds and make your stand. If that’s the way you wish to spend the balance of your life, it’s within your rights and ability to do so.

There’s always been people wasting air something else could be breathing that deserve our hate and disgust. They come in all colors, shapes and sizes. ~ That’s not going to ever change.

We pick and choice our battles ~ myself ~ I’d rather try to live with a beautiful, impossible to get along with woman then fight your fight.
Both being hell-fully equal in misery.

The lawsuit in Arizona seems to be going well for Gov. Brewer as of today. That is to say it is looking likely that it will be dismissed and SB1070 will indeed go into effect.
“Why can’t Arizona be as inhospitable as they wish to people who have entered or remained in the United States?” U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton asked in a pointed exchange with Deputy Solicitor General Edwin S. Kneedler. Her comment came during a rare federal court hearing in the Justice Department’s lawsuit against Arizona and Gov. Jan Brewer (R). AP release.
BTW, the latest poll has Brewer winning reelection by 19 points.

  • Greg

Anyone that wants to blame Obama for the current state of affairs is ignorant. The problems he faces are the same problems we’ve had for 30 years. Parties should be broken up. They are nothing more than IOU coffers for big business. Until the system is changed and the money is taken out of politics, nothing will change. It doesn’t matter who is in office people, because it’s always the same guys in office. BIG BUSINESS HMO’s, EXXON, Haliburton, WALL Street. etc etc etc.
Quit being sheep. Disband all parties and make it a FELONY for any candidate to accept a single dime before, during or after office.
Only then can we fix the system. What person in their right mind would want to spend their personal fortune for a 86K a year job? Someone that doesn’t have their head screwed on too tight or is doing it for ego instead of the right reasons.

Greg: You’re mostly right, but Obama did have his hand in on this collapse BIG TIME, for it was the Dems who set it up and made sure it hit just as Bush was to leave office, so they could get the Whitehouse back, and it played just like clockwork. Bush knew it was coming (because they saw it with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac over a year earlier- before he was to leave office), but he couldn’t stop it. The Dems had everyone convinced that The French Revolution was because of Bush (and all the COMPLETE IDIOTS believe ANYTHING the dems say), so Cheney and Rove got chased out of Congress, not able to stop Fannie Mae or Freddie. And now Obama is just finishing up on that work- collapsing the country FOR GOOD (or at least until THEY HAVE COMPLETE, ETERNAL POWER- “then” they might start fixing it again, but I doubt it ’cause Obama wants the middle east and Africa to have it all now…. just look at all of the proof and facts), which is why he is doing all that he’s doing now.
The rest of what you wrote is right, but there are more than enough people that would take any of those offices for $100+K or about $200K a year (A LOT LESS than what the cheats are getting up there now!!!). There are ENDLESS PEOPLE that WOULD LOVE TO FIX THIS COUNTRY AND GET IT BACK ON IT’S FEET AND STRONG, but IT’S ALWAYS THE LIARS AND CHEATS THAT GET IN, and it is because of THESE 2 MONSTERS THAT HAVE CONTROL OVER EVERYTHING!!! (the repubs and dems)- But then again, it’s because of how ignorant the American people are!!!!! So in a sense we’re screwed cause all the American people want is for someone to lie to them, tell them what they WANT to hear, which is perfect for all the liars that are more than happy to do that, ANYTHING to get that power, THEN DO NOTHING BUT RAPE THIS COUNTRY BLIND AS SOON AS THEY GET IN OFFICE!!!!! Which is why we are where we are, right?

  • hundabuxt

You are absolutly correct. This is the fundamental problem with our system. It has been corrupted by lobbists who work for the mega corporations and the wealthy, which includes forign companies and governments such as Saudi Arabia. That we have a representative government, that is a government that truly represents the people, is an illusion.

    • http://charter howe

There is some truth to your generalization my friend, but aside from the fact that you have expressed a very general opinion, without names etc, I would say if you were really interested in your future and the future of your country, it would be smart to get very proactive in what is going on in American Politics. Comrade Obama may solve your generalized problem for you if you think that your concern has any priority in the importance of protecting our freedoms and our Constitution. It’s absolutely amazing to me how few people know that we are being transformed into a socialist state that is being highlighted by all the contentious issues that conflict with the Constitution and the nationalizing of everything in the country, healthcare, production, financial regulation, environmental regulation, school regulation, attacks on the 1st, 2nd and 10th amendments. Just remember, when all the wealth is spread, there will be ove 100 billionares who will take their money and their business to another country and the rest of us will wind up owning a pot to piss in, just like the Russians, the Chinese, the Cubans and a bunch of other third world banana republics who lost their democracy. The radical liberal democrats are going to take a big hit in Nov 2010 because they do not listen to WE THE PEOPLE. I hope you are one of the people who will vote and be heard.

As USA citizen I am conserned about the economy. And most of the USA
citizens are blaming the elligal aliens. they supose to blame the past President of the USA and his government and all the Companies
that are sucking all the money fom the country leaving the USA almost
It is why The USA is borrowing money from China.

This whole thing is about illegal immigration, and “let’s get real”- IT’S THE MEXICANS THAT THE PROBLEM IS WITH, SO “THAT IS WHAT IT HAS TO BE ABOUT!!!” All of the other races that are here illegally ARE STRAIGHT, HARD WORKING PEOPLE!!! Some try to say the Mexicans are, BUT THEY AREN’T!!! They ONLY WORK WHEN THEY HAVE TO, otherwise they are ALWAYS TRYING TO SIT AROUND AND SCREW OFF!!!! (I’ve worked with endless numbers of them- I do have more than enough proof) And when they do work, THEY DO THE WORST WORK EVER!!! (to where it ALWAYS has to be REDONE!!)
If it wasn’t for all of the crime and B.S. that they pull, WE WOULDN’T EVEN BE TALKING ABOUT THIS, but because of all the crap they pull, THEY “HAVE TO GO!!!!” They had their chance, we gave them from the 60′s on, they’ve proved who and what they are, WHAT THEY WILL “ALWAYS” DO (like collapse any hospital they can, doing nothing but trying all day and night to get whatever they can FOR FREE- TO SELL ON THE STREET RATHER THAN WORK!!!!- just look at CALIFORNIA!!!!), SO IT’S JUST TIME FOR THEM “ALL” TO PACK THEIR BAGS AND MOVE BACK!!!! (except for the VERY VERY FEW THAT ARE STRAIGHT OUT OF THEM!!!) That way they can jack their country into the ground forever, LIKE WHAT THEY LIVE FOR AND INSIST ON DOING!!! (since they like that down there)

Yes….and so should New Mexico (not likely though)…and California (we’re all holding our breath on this one….NOT).

  • AJ

At last I thought hearing words from an illegal immigrant – shocked to read on and on that you, Myers is for the SB1070. If this law was active when you were illegal hmm, well you would have been deported! And you are for it? You don’t realize the harm and hate that is occurring in Arizona. People legal and illegal have left the state, leaving it more broke than it was with the housing crisis. So much for liberty. In AZ, it is best on color- being brown is literally out! You just got lucky in 1986- too bad.

  • Bob

I think your story is representative of most people who are trespassers. They are good people who work, have families, pay taxes and lead productive lives.

The thing is that SB1070 wouldn’t affect you. You’re white and wouldn’t raise “reasonable suspicion” that you are illegally in the country. SB1070 will succeed in driving out the good people like you, while the criminal element is going to stay where they are.

Police will abuse their authority under SB1070. Count on it.

  • alphie

Were the colonists in 1600s and 1700s who created the 13 British colonies legal immigrants ? Did the aboriginal Indians give them entry visas ? LOL. Guess who owned Arizona before the US – I believe it was Mexico. The illegals are just reclaiming their land.

    • http://charter howe

While you are reclaiming your land ALPHIE, don’t forget to return the food stamps, the free medical and medicare entitlements you and the other illegals have been raking in hansomely on the backs of the hard working American taxpayers all these years. This major dispute over amnesty is not about land and it damn sure is not about racism, its about the right thing to do for the United States of America and the people who worked hard, fought and died to make this the greatest country on Earth. When the lights go out in America the whole world will go black. You and your whining Hispanic illegals do not want to obey the law of the land. You have become as corrupt as the business people and the politicians who support your illegal efforts. My grandparents were immigrants who came here and did everything by the book to become citizens. They even learned English and served in four wars. What in Gods name is wrong with coming into this country legally instead of sneaking across the border with a load of dope for your coyote and then claiming squatters rights. The reason our immigration is mired down is because of imbeciles like you who think you are going to shove immigration down our throats. That will not happen by this administration or your merry band of illegals who will be confronted with the full force of the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law. The more illegals act like idiotic puppets for Obama, Pelosi and Reid, the more you bury your chances of ever becoming a legal citizen of this country. The radical democrats will be driven out of power in Nov 2010 and 2012 and then what will you do, start a small war. WE THE PEOPLE will make ourselves heard soon and if you want immigration reform you would be smart to join the winning side. I did not say Amnesty, because that is a dirty word used for people who viloated the immigration law of the land. Many of the conservatives want immigration reform not as a reward for violating U.S. law but as a process to regain control of the uncontrollable element of criminals and terrorists. This does not include amnesty, because the road to citizenship will a major challenge to any illegal who will do what it takes to be an american and not a Hispanic rabel rousing who arrogantly fails to embrace the U.S. Constitution and the teachings of our founding fathers. If you believe you own a piece of land in the United States then carry your stupid butt back to where ever you came from and get yourself ready to fight 300 million Americans. This is America, you show that you belong by embrcing everything about the USA and that does not mean you give up your roots. Don’t be stupid and continue to listen to racist low lifes like Al Sharpton and Senator Guitterez whose only desire in life is to tear down American ideals and continually create major devisiveness. This turned out to be an admonishment, but in its sincerest form it is a friendly warning about what the Latino community needs to do to break the ice and get on with a program that promises future citizenship for good people who want to work hard and do whatever it takes to keep our country the greatest nation on earth. I passionate about our freedoms and constitutional form of govt that is why I invested 29 years of my life in the military. In November 2010 it will become more difficult for the radical democrats to be proactive in the demise of the immigration reform system. They want to give amnesty to criminals and legislate other processes of illegal amnesty which are not only unreasonable but unaffordable and therefore will never become lasting legislation. If the Latinos expect fairness, they must join the conservatives to solve these lingering immigration problems. If you continue to do the same thing over and over and it doesn’t make things better, then why would you continue to do it an expect a different result. Dump the liberals.

  • Imperator03

Wow another argument that misses the point entirely. Shame on the author for using lax enforcement of laws to become a citizen, then asking that the government crack down on “illegal” immigration.

“Legal immigration” is a fairly new artificial construct. It was all the rage in the 1920′s to talk about ways of limiting immigration, the same arguments they used then are used today. “Immigrants take all the jobs”, although today we add a caveat of “they take all the welfare too”.

The problem here isn’t immigration, the problem is an unreasoned fear of “losing all the jobs” coupled with a desire by some in power to allow immigration but not assimilation. Every group that has emigrated to this country has become an American. Multiculturalism seeks to pervert that. Why? Welfare. Pure and simple. Unlike someone who can somewhat speak the language, write and get along in society, an immigrant cannot. At least not at first. The great incentive to learn the customs, language, etc. stems from a desire to fit it and to make one’s way in life.

Welfare perverts that drive. It creates a group of second class citizens. What’s worse is that by creating a class dependent on a democratic government, you now have a way to pervert the voting system in this country. That is a far graver danger than all this talk about “illegal” immigration.

After reading a few of John Myers views I’ve come to the understanding that in HIS opinion buying Gold is the answer to almost everything.

  • LurkingOutsider

    Maybe if the FBI was doing it’s own job instead of fiddling with things that aren’t it’s job perhaps state law enforcement wouldn’t need to do the FBI’s job? I refer mostly to copyright infringement, which is civil and not federal… and yet the federal bureau of investigation keeps pretending they don’t have kidnappings or mexican drug cartels to deal with. -.-;
But apparently we as a society are more concerned with the fact that Mr. Upton illegally acquired his Oprah DVD… who cares about the fact that his neighbors daughter was kidnapped? Oprah needs the four dollars he owes her!

  • Randy G

Illegal immigration is an invasion of the country. They may not have guns BUT they are here to steal our land, labor, & money. Wake up and face reality.
