Companies, Activists Reject Taxes And Regulations Of Small Businesses

July 7, 2010 by

Companies, activists reject taxes and regulations of small businessesA new bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives to expand sales tax collection on the internet, leading business and anti-tax advocates to protest the measure vigorously.

The proposal, which would result in as much as $23 billion in new taxes, is designed to help state and local governments close budget gaps. However, Tod Cohen, vice president for government relations and deputy general counsel at the online retailer eBay, has said that the measure would increase costs on small business operating online, eliminate jobs and further harm the already weak economy.

"At a time when unemployment rates are high and small businesses across the country are closing shop, we are confident that Congress will protect small internet retailers and the consumers they serve from another internet tax scheme," he stated.

Meanwhile, Americans for Tax Reform have complained that the recently passed healthcare reform bill is showing its first impact in terms of higher taxes as a new 10 percent Federal excise tax on indoor tanning went into effect on July 1.

The organization also stressed that the reform contains some 21 tax hikes, most of them violating President Obama’s electoral campaign pledge not to raise taxes on middle-class families. ADNFCR-1961-ID-19876187-ADNFCR

While this administration, continuely, points to the avarice of big business, they greedily pursue their possession,or at least total control, of all moneys from any source!
They claim to “focus like a laser” on private sector job growth, while passing laws like healthcare, financial reform, cap and trade, etc!! All of these will, clearly have a negative effect on job growth, and specificly small business job growth!
They state that they can’t pay for the unemployment extention for Americans, yet they can send 2 billion to Brazil, for offshore drilling, 2 billion to China for wind turbines, and 648 million to Russia for helicopters! I guess they are stimulating job growth, just not in America!!

    • meteorlady

The $2 Billion to Brazil was in the form of a loan guarantee – it was because Obama’s biggest backer – George Soros is heavily invested in the Brazilian company that needs the loan.

Unemployment Extension Bill Fails but Billions of $$$$$ to Isreal
Israel is a parasite of the american taxpayer and the u.s. government. we give them billions of dollars every year and they laugh in our faces.

        Mr. Barry Soretoro,
We are taking measures to confront your Defenses from this day forward.
The Black Panthers, the Union Thugs, etc..
If we observe any kind of Intimidation from persons associated with you or your administration, such as we have already seen in the past at Voting Venues, legal Political gathering, etc., or any other place where there are persons expressing the legal right to do what-ever, they themselves will be confronted with a force equal to or greater. As we remember, you yourself some time ago said, opposition would be met with your forces and you would “BRING THE GUNS”. We have not and will not forget that threat. You yourself PERSONALLY spoke those words. You yourself mentioned the use of Guns and there is Video proof. We all know of how much you lie. But we take these words seriously especially knowing what you have had your Thugs do in the past
In the future, if any persons are confronted with your thugs at any time expressing any form of intimidation to those in the area of voting, or assembly for any reason, and local authorities have little or no interest in the matter, rest assured, we will be there. Your Intimidators will surely be seeing the white of our Eyes. We will be prepared for more than you can imagine. As far as we are concerned you yourself have escalated this matter in more ways than one. We say no more. What we do say is, who the hell do you think you are? We already know who you are not, And that is our Commander in Chief. Dos clavos bendaho. oot uoy k–f dnA. You will see this message again.

      • meteorlady

WOW we also give billions to other countries and they are probably laughing also. Fact is you are pretty bigoted in your comments and you might just comment on the stories here instead of insulting and name calling – not very nice.

America needs to close her boarders, deport the illegals, and get the drain they are causing on our economy stopped. It isn’t so much the ones that work here, but it is the ones that come here just to give birth and have access to free medical treatment, food stamps, rental help, etc. Also, those who come here for the main purpose to sell drugs or steal certainly are not helping our economy either. It isn’t rocket science. Plug this huge hole in our boarder and it will make a difference. Enact the Fair Tax. Everyone pays the same! So those who get paid under the table and avoid taxes will no longer be able to do that! I know it is not this simple, but I don’t thing it needs to be so complicated either.

    • meteorlady

The last thing you want is a “fair” tax that isn’t fair. Study Europe and the VAT tax and see what happens to the economy.

      • TIME

        Agreeded.

        You are absolutly correct!

HE CAN HELP EVERY COMMIE COUNTRY BUT NOT THE GREAT U.S.A. as far as the border goes give the illegals one miss and then a no miss.

I don’t go to NY anymore it’s almost a third world country in parts and it’s not safe, nor do I like not hearing English anywhere I go.

So just make more small businesses the government’s tax collector. Not really very good for us in business. This will cost small business more and more money as they grapple with the different city, state and federal tax rates. They will need more accounting hours and more software to help them and this is so bad that many will probably end their business. It’s getting worse and worse to be in business and I for one, am thinking of hanging it up and heading somewhere outside of the US where I can be free again without the federal government forcing me into slavery for their benefit.

I hear you loud and clear, looks like Europe is flipping around to what we used to have, I live in northern Italy for a while as well Germany and France.
I liked Italy the best, the mountains are just beautiful and the people were really very sweet, and they love good food and wine.

I THINK OBAMA’S SLOGAN OUGHT TO BE IF IT MOVES TAX IT.
OBAMA HAS NO BUSINESS BEING PRESIDENT OF THE MOST POWERFUL
COUNTRY IN THE NATION. EVERYONE WAS WARNED THAT HE HAD NO EXPERIENCE BUT THEY WOULD NOT LISTEN MOST OF THEM SAW THAT A BLACK WOULD BECOME PRESIDENT, LOOK HOW FAR WE HAVE COME TO ELECT A BLACK MAN PRESIDENT. NOT MANY OF US WOULD HAVE MINDED A BLACK MAN BEING PRESIDENT IF HE HAD THE EXPERIENCE BUT UNFORTUNATLY HE HAD NONE. NOW WE ARE IN DANGER OF LOSING OUR COUNTRY, ELECTIONS HAVE CONSEQUENCES, TO ALL OF YOU WHO VOTED FOR OBAMA IT’S NOT TOO LATE TO CORRECT YOUR MISTAKE, DON’T BE FOOLED AGAIN
VOTE FOR THE ONES WHO HAVE PROVEN THAT THEY HAVE THIS COUNTRY’S BEST INTEREST AT HEART.MEHPENSACOLA,FL .

Face facts, people. This “prez” thinks most people who are in business are criminals. He thinks a non-profit is the highest form of business.
He can’t wait until America’s businesses are almost bankrupt so HE can step in and ‘save’ America’s businesses. He will do to business what Hitler did to human rights and freedom.
He was trained at Haavid to cater to business like a hyena caters to easy prey. He thinks Marx is the most intelligent business expert the world has ever known.
Frankly, I wouldn’t trust Obummer to run a trash service. He’d probably take trash TO businesses, instead of taking it away. Someone needs to read Business for Dummies to him (and translate it from English into progressivese).

The real trouble is that no one understands the FairTax. It would be the salvation of this country. It is not a VAT. The VAT raises the price of everything for everyone, and it’s still a bookkeeping nightmare. The FairTax is a national sales tax added only at the final sale to the retail consumer, be it an individual or a company that will not re-sell the item but will “consume” it. To replace the income that the nation now receives from the present income tax and its related taxes (capital gains, estate, corporate, social security, medicare, etc.) would require a sales tax of 23%. But, understand this, very few would pay the full 23%, because there is a “prebate” check sent to EVERYONE based on poverty level. For example, let’s say that poverty level for a family of four is $2,000. EVERY family of four would receive a prebate check at the beginning of each and every month. For someone at poverty level, this pays his month’s sales tax as he spends his $2,000, for an effective tax rate of zero (right now he may get back all his income tax withholdings, but not his payroll taxes (social security and medicare). For someone at twice poverty level, when he spends his $4,000 per month, the prebate check has prepaid half of his sales taxes, so his effective tax rate is only 11.5%. For someone earning and spending $8,000 per month ($96,000 per year) their effective tax rate is 17.25% (do the math). Even someone spending a million dollars a month will only pay 22.954%, not the full 23%. Who will pay the full 23%? Illegal aliens everytime they buy something (they don’t get a prebate check) and foreign tourists. Everyone in the underground market now not paying any income taxes (drug sales, prostitution, etc.) will pay the sales tax everytime they buy something. And everyone earning a paycheck will get their full paycheck without income tax withholding or social security and medicare withholding – an automatic take home raise. And, no more filling out tax forms, whether you are a person or a corporation. About $315 billion is spent every year on filling out tax forms. That’s about $900 per person (man, woman, child) per year that’s now hidden in the purchase price of everything you buy. With that, there’s an estimated 22% of taxes and tax preparation included in the price of everything you buy, so prices can actually drop by this 22%. Adding the 23% sales tax will merely take prices about back to what they are today. And, don’t forget, you won’t be paying the full 23% because of the prebate check you get every month. The FairTax is actually before Congress as House Bill HR25 and Senate Bill SB296, ready for adoption if we can only get it out of Charley Rangel’s tax committee. Yes, ready for adoption and enactment on January 1, 2011. It repeals the 16th Amendment – the income tax amendment enacted as one sentence in 1913 that has now grown to over 67,500 pages of confusing, oppressive rules and regulations. Let’s get rid of the income tax. Go to FairTax.org and see how the FairTax really works and what it would mean domestically and internatinally to save this nation and pull it out of its economic slump. Do it today.

    • meteorlady

It’s a graduated form of taxation and it still requires businesses both large and small to collect taxes for the government. Jeez….. You obviously don’t have a business to run. We are already taxed to death by states and local governments. If I sell my product on credit I still have to pay the sales tax for that transaction in the month it happens. If the person I sell to goes out 90 days I’m out the taxes and loose interest on my money. If the person defaults then I must fill out reams of paperwork to get the tax credited back to me and in most cases I just give up and swallow the tax.

  • mavis

I THINK THAT A TAX THAT MAKES EVERONE PAY SOME TAX IS THE WAY WE OUGHT TO GO. THEN EVERYONE WOULD HAVE SOME RESPONSIBILITY. THE FACT THAT ALMOST HALF OF THE PEOPLE
DO NOT PAY TAXES IS OUTRAGEOUS. A PERSON WHO HAS NOTHING TO LOSE WON’T CARE WHO THEY VOTE FOR.MEHPENSACOLS,FL

  • meteorlady

Why not a percentage tax? Say EVERYONE pays 10%? Graduated taxing punishes the people that make money and keep our economy going. It rewards people for staying in poverty, not taking advantage of the educational benefits, and keeps them in government slavery. If people live in this country and enjoy it, they should contribute to it’s existence I don’t care how much or how little they make. If you can’t support children, don’t have them. If you want to retire – save for retirement. If you want to make more money – get an education. The fact is that we can’t continue to support 50% of the people that are non-productive and be a strong economic society.
