Clinton Visits Libya, Pledges Support, Money

Secretary of State Hilary Clinton traveled to Libya on Tuesday to offer words of encouragement and millions of dollars in U.S. aid to the country’s fledgling transitional government.

Clinton, the first cabinet member of the Administration of Barack Obama to visit Libya, reportedly made a five-hour visit to the country, hosting a town hall-style meeting with top officials of the newly placed Libyan government, according to The Washington Post. She focused on assuring new Libyan leaders of the United States’ vehement dedication to aiding the country as it tries to re-establish basic infrastructure and social order, both of which were decimated in the battle to oust Moammar Gadhafi. The Secretary of State also vowed to ensure that the thousands of shoulder-fired rockets looted from the Gadhafi compound would be retrieved with U.S. help.

One State Department official said the purpose of the meeting was to focus on “setting the table for a long-term, completely different relationship between the United States and Libya that is deep and broad.”

Americans have provided more than $130 million in aid for Libyan rebels since the beginning of the uprising earlier this year, with more promised. Reportedly, the State Department has boosted funds and staffing in recent months for the sole purpose of returning Libya to a state of order. Clinton has also announced State Department intentions of providing long-term funding for medical facilities for those wounded in the country’s civil war.

Reports indicate pro-Gadhafi forces are still holding out in cities such as Sirte, Gadhafi’s birthplace. The whereabouts of the former leader, whom State Department officials call a “lethal nuisance,” are unknown.

“Clinton Visits Libya, Pledges Support, Money”

Maybe Clinton should “visit” the United States
and “pledge” us some money and stop giving
America’s wealth away to countries that do
    not deserve it!

    Which are most countries.

The obozo administration is bankrupting America
while funding countries less favorable to America
and no one seems to give a damn!

    • mdog2

Hell yea let’s take more tax payer money from our military and elderly and dump it all over the near east mulims who have shown that the hate everything America stand for. How long congress going to support the world at large at the expence of the American public. I cannot understand why Washington thinks we owe something to those countries that are not even our allies.

      • 45caliber

The liberals always try to buy friendship since they know that no one would be their friends otherwise.

        • http://?? Joe H.

Hey, you know those Soviet missiles they are looking for?? Perhaps Ms Klintoon will find a couple of them!!!

          • USAF VET

And maybe one will find her.

    • Raggs

Maybe oblama is feathering his nest in liyba for a place to go when we run his stupid ass out of the US.

  • Jan

Where is she getting the money from to give them? Oh, I get it now, we’ll borrow more from China.

    • Raggs

NAH… What do you think the jobs bill that oblama is trying to pass is going to be used for.

  • bsfurg

hi is Hillary giving her own personal money to Libya cause they keep telling us theres no money for SS and Medicare that 50 million ppl pay into every month..All Hillary and Obama know how to do is give money to othre countrys and we end up borroying money to do it so then we have to pay the interest on itIs that you know what to do Hillary is give money away…Stay home if thats all you got to give.. we dont need to help those leades have a great life with out money

  • peter

Clinton sure knows how to spend money! Where is she getting it all?
Is that the only way she can find to make people like her? I think we can now call her the “travelling atm where you don’t even need a debit card”.

    • Bus

Does anyone in Lybia really care what a woman says?
But it is intreging to think that the U.S. will funnel Chinese money to Lybia to help out the Muslim Brotherhood. That’s true globalization.

  • Donald

If Libya needs money? Let them go to China directly. I thought the reason oil prices went up was a threat in their supplying oil, let them sell their oil. Only in the US would we give them money, then turn around and buy their oil. These politicians are talking about raising taxes and/or cutting Medicaid and Social Security after they raided Social Security and stole the money. We see where their allegiance is and it’s not Americans. But this is both parties, not just Dem’s. They all think spending other people’s money buys friends for them. I have dogs in my yard smarter than these politicians. Maybe we need to start electing someone beside attorneys to congress and the presidency. People who have run a business without government money.

    • 45caliber

The oil was sold ten years ago. We can’t buy it now. Maybe we can buy some they will pump in another ten years but I doubt it.

  • James

Hillary, there is no provision in the Constitution for such foreign aid. We are in a depression, the government is flat broke, and whatever money you could give to Lybia would have to be borrowed from the Federal Reserve System, at interest, I suggest you have your head examined.

    • 45caliber

I agree. Let Libya borrow the money to pay back instead of us.

  • James

If they need medical care and such, why can’t we trade it for oil? Remember that they have plenty of oil under neath them and I see no reason for us to just take them on as another nanny state. They are going to do whatever they want regardless of how much money we send them. As for the weapons hunt, check out the local Brotherhood dudes or shipments to the Persians. Why are we always being told that we have to sacrifice and them Clinton or Obozo trots off somewhere and offers them millions?

    • 45caliber

Don’t you know? She is a liberal/progressive! They ALWAYS try to buy friendship – since no one will like them otherwise.

      • s c

It’s funny how people like Billary don’t hesitate to throw money at countries like Libya (money we don’t have). What she and her bunkies aren’t addressing is the fact that Libya’s former leader has been declared expendable by the Muslim world.
Funding and supporting groups that will take over after what’s-his-name will do nothing but turn over yet another part of the planet to kookoids who want to be a thorn in America’s side. It amounts to taking a slow-acting poison so we can ‘feel better.’ It will take a while to take effect, but the result is predictable.
Thanks for NOTHING, Billary. If you expect a medal or a reward for being a drive-by terrorist backer, forget it. Muslims already have that market cornered. Besides, you’re an infidel.

        • Lost in Paradise

Well, maybe we will get lucky, and she will catch a stray bullet between the eyes, while she is there.

        • USAF VET

This morning, the Libian leader, Momar Quadaffii was reprotedly captured, and some say he was shot in both legs, and later died of those wounds.

    • James

I’m not the ‘James’ who wrote this. The ‘foreign aid’ comment above is mine.

  • http://charter howe

Since when does Hillary Clinton decide that foreign nations especially Muslim nations that have always been our mortal enemies get taxpayer money and other taxpayer funded help without Congressional approval. If the POTUS direceted her to do that then he should be held accountable for undermining the balance of power by spending taxpayer money that is not funded for this inappropriate expenditure or bypasses Congress. This President must have a sweet deal going with Libya because he didn’t get approval of Congress to engage U.S. troopds in war and no one really knows if these libyan fighters are the Muslim Brotherhood, Hamas or Al Qeada. I suspect that a bad component will emerge because the peaceful muslims seem to keep a very low profile. The ease with which this administration is violating the U.S. Constitution is very troubling and allowing these socialist democrats to continue their control mantra is dangerous.

  • 45caliber

I think we need to send this gal to my hometown. She gives money away every where she goes so if she comes here, maybe we could get a little back of the (tax) money she gives away.

  • John D. Beach

What is so surprising about this? Politicians buy and sell each other all the time. It should be no surprise, although it does seem a bit naive, that they are trying to buy or convert an enemy into a friend. Can you imagine the confusion of school children who, after all the years of anti-American propaganda under the virtual dictatorship, are now seeing overtures of this kind. Is this “change they can believe in?”

  • Rick Brown

What part of stupid does Hillary and the rest of our so called leaders in Washington, do they not understand. Thats right, just keep selling out America to the Bastards that hate us, and maybe we will gain a little favoritism with our enemies. Of course, our wonderful leader of change, is going to cut what he can from Americans that are US citizens, to pay for all of this. What a great President we have. A man of change, and giving it all away to our enemies to buy favoritism and whatever else He can think of. And by all means make sure all the illegials in the US who have broke the law, get their fare share to.

    • 45caliber

But they only hate us because we have money and they don’t. So if we give them money, they are certain to love us. It works so well everywhere else, doesn’t it?

      • http://?? Joe H.

Well aren’t they just fooled??? WE have money??? We’re BROKE!!

        • USAF VET

They have more money than we do.

  • Ted

The U.S no longer belongs to the people, its now owned by muslims chinesse, lybians etc.given away by the president. You cant leave the country because you cant afford it,you cant stay here for the same reason,so what are we to do?Pray the earth ends its the only way out.

  • Charles bond

CUT OFF ALL foreign free money from the hard working American people to all countries. Let the American people vote on it……………. Charles of Waveland,MS.

    • 45caliber

I think we should end all foreign aid except what is given in some disaster – for that disaster only. Why should we keep attempting to buy friendship when it doesn’t work? Maybe we could pay off a few bonds with the saved money.

  • hitthedeck

Clinton has the gall to pledge our borrowed Chinese money to Libya in the biggest economic bust we have had in years. What is it about Democrats that love to use money as the answer to all problems when the lack of money is the biggest problem.

  • loretta

  • http://google Sandra Henley

Hey yall – everyones comment is right on. I get so mad when I see US giving away more of our money. So many Americans are suffering. I wish Occupy Wall Street protestors would take up this as a mantra: NO MORE AID to the United Nations (majority of member nations are Muslims) at the tune of $7 billion, no more money to the IMF, no more money to foreign countries. Our government does not even ask for accountability.

    • http://?? Joe H.

How about no more money to the FED, as well?!?!?!?!? Forgive me I forgot we’re talking PROGS!!!

  • Marlene

Sure, we can give Libya money but only after every other member of the UN not only pledges, but actually gives, the same amount she proposes to give Libya. Why should she expect us to be the only ones putting up money for a country that will turn on us in hatred, just like all the others we’ve given money to? She’s awfully doggone free with our money, as long as it’s NOT helping Americans.

  • Bob McCormick

The big question is, how do we put an end to this stupidity? We continue to give money to Pakistan, now Libia, money doesn’t grow on trees, we have to print it.

  • coal miner

    Respect people and their beliefs.7

In every war and every violent conflict in the Middle East, resides a prime reason as to why … human beings to believe in war, destruction, and no peace.

  • Ray

Where there is no accountability there is no concern. Politicians spend taxpayers money with reckless abandonment. It is time to start holding them accountable for every penny of the taxpayers money they spend.

  • 45caliber

Let’s simply pass a law that if any Congressman votes against a balanced budget, he can’t run for reelection. We’d get it passed then with a landslide vote.

  • Stunned at sunset

Just like that, huh? Pledges support and MONEY…ain’t that a fact. Well, I don’t know about you guys but I ain’t workin’ overtime for this administration anymore. They couldn’t pour piss out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel.

  • Raggs

Maybe it’s time for us to get some foreign aid?
OH but then again we would need a “super” committee that has trouble deciding what color panties to wear.

    • http://?? Joe H.

      I thought hellary wore BOXERS!!!!

      • s c

If the above photo is current, Joe H, it will take more than cosmetic surgery to make Billary look “good.” I don’t much care about her panty situation. It’s been obvious for a while that Billary has a higher testosterone level than Bubba Clinton.
Whether or not Billary wears boxers doesn’t matter. It’s what is between her ears that matters. She looks up to world-class losers like Fidel and Alinsky. She was ready to ram her own twisted version of ‘healthcare’ down our throats. She belongs in Chicago, where she can find a home in the middle of those overpaid, pimped-out cave-dwellers.
I almost feel sorry for Bubba. Keeping Billary out of the country on a regular basis probably gives Bubba reasons to think he can live out his playboy fantasies and not be bound by the normal rules of marriage. They must be made for each other. They can have each other. Gee, I wonder they didn’t go back to Arkansas [HA!].

        • http://?? Joe H.

I wonder if anyone has ever traced billary and slick willies bloodlines?? I mean could they be not so distant cousins?? They are starting to look a lot alike. She’s(?) starting to plump up in the face and you could almost super-impose their pictures!!!

  • Lost in Paradise

THis is another reason why we need to elect Ron Paul. He will see to it, that we do not reapeat this folley of giving money to every out held hand.

Why would a sane person want to give money to a bunch of rebels who don’t even know who their leader is , or which way is up or down. They are a splintered group at best, and I wish the table could turn on them.
