Climatologists: Global Cooling On The Horizon

Global warming alarmist Al Gore may be sweating following the release of new temperature data showing that the planet has not warmed in the past 15 years and may, in fact, be heading for a mini ice age.

Data issued last week by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit based on figures from 30,000 climate measuring stations confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures actually ended in 1997, according to Daily Mail.

NASA scientists say that the sun-cycles that have resulted in the increased number of sunspots are weakening, and the next cycle—Cycle 25—which is expected to peak in 2022, will be weaker than the last and result in a drop in temperatures.

Climate scientists told The Mail on Sunday that, after emitting unusually high levels of energy throughout the 20th Century, the sun is now heading towards a ‘grand minimum’ in its output, threatening cold summers, bitter winters and a shortening of the season available for growing food. The mini ice age the planet could be headed for could reportedly rival a 70-year temperature drop in the 17th Century that froze the River Thames in London during winters.

    OP Writes:
“Data issued last week by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit based on figures from 30,000 climate measuring stations confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures actually ended in 1997, according to Daily Mail.”

Isn’t the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit a rather tainted source these days. Were they lying to us then or are they lying to us now?

Of course you may have noticed that the term global warming was changed to “global climate change” or AGCC not long after that scandal.

One wonders what devious new ways Al will find to convince governments to dig into our pockets to deal with this new threat.

    • Jon

No problem. We can just take all the books (like Al Gore’s) and newsletters on global warming and burn them for fuel. Should last five or tens years.

  • pete

Should not the taxpayer recover the funds spent on this fraud?

    • BC39

Yes Pete We Should. Except all of our Tax Money goes to the Federal Reserve to pay off Government Debt, not to fund research as they would have everyone believe. Thus we can scream to High heavens about the abuse but it falls on deaf ears.

      • slapjack

I’m all for confiscating the assets of Ali E-Gore’s accounts plus his Veep pension. You need to payback the folks Al, it’s the right thing to do. Your a living breathing talking hemmroid Al!!!!!!!!

      • traderphil

The Fed is PRIVATE BANKS from Europe and has been that way since it’s inception! You foolish folks actually think that the Fed has your best interests at heart? HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHHAH Who do you think, for example, came up with Interest Rate Swaps(banks) that have raped the world finances and are a complete set up because the Fed (Big Banks) SET INTEREST RATES!!! They KNOW EXACTLY WHERE INTEREST RATES WERE/ARE GOING!!! Man!! Did they SUCK THE WORLD IN OR WHAT!!!! ? You folks DID notice that NO-ONE WAS CHARGED WITH THESE CRIMINAL EVENTS, In fact the SAME PEOPLE are still in those positions that allowed this to happen! Did you ever wonder why no one was charged? The answer is clear as “the ass on a goat” so to speak. Wake up !!!!!!

        • Mike

If this is indeed true, then why are the ice caps getting smaller and poloar bears are drowning in record numbers?

          • http://aol.com cyborg

            Mike,
In 1972 researchers counted 5,000 polar bears in the arctic regions,in 2007 scientists counted over 25,000 polar bears. This seems to indicate an increase of over 20,000 bears.
14,000 years ago the last ice age reached its peak. 11,000 years ago the ice started to retreat(the great lakes were gouged out by these ice sheets as an example of the power of this age). The first real combustion engines were designed about 125 years ago as were the first coal fired power systems.
Please advise me as to where you found the information as to the deaths of the polar bear populations. I have never heard of this information before. please help me to find this site.
            Cyborg

          • http://personallibertydigest Gottaplenty

Hey Mike , you better get under the covers with Al(ForestGump)Gore before he discoves it will be dang cold out there and sound the alarm so the govt. can open a few coal mines to keep us warm. They will come up with a new spin to soak up more of your money…

          • Ellen

Mike, I’m going to guess you get your news from the liberal media outlets. Liberals don’t like truth, so they twist it as long as they can. It was reported last year that the polar bear population is now larger than it was in the 1950s. You won’t find that in the liberal news, as it conflicts with their ‘green’ energy plans. As far as the temperature dropping since 1997, that can’t be something they just discovered since we’re talking about 14 years of data. Even our government isn’t that slow. We absolutely had warming for 20 years, but we’ve had cooling now for 14 years yet everyone denies it because they wanted to claim the warming was man-made. Millions of people get their news from the liberal news outlets and they are getting lied to. Do you really believe the huge increase in autism in the past 22 years is natural? How about the rise in diabetes? The rise in auto-immune diseases? Ironically, they are all man-made problems that the government denies while telling us the natural global changes are man-made.

          • ChristyK

You are wrong. The polar ice caps are not shrinking, they are actually increasing. It is shrinking in areas (the areas filmed & reported by the press) and increasing in other larger areas (that are ignored completely). The big so-called shrinkage that was reported a while ago, was proven to be a satelite glitch. It wasn’t real. Now, the global-warming crowd just keeps repeating the old data that was proven to be false. Also, there are more polar bears now than 20 years ago (by a significant amount). The photos of a drowning polar bear are just one, chance encounter with a bear having a problem. It isn’t an actual sign that the polar bears are drowning or dying. In the wild, animals die all of the time. Most of the time, it is just nature. Man has nothing to do with it.

          • eddie47d

Haven’t seen anything saying those Arctic ice masses haven’t melted so you could also be spinning a tall tale. Why is Russia considering building a naval base up there if it won’t be ice free? Why are shipping lines plotting out new routes through the Arctic if it didn’t happen? You seem to be taking a page out of Limbaugh’s book. Deny everything in hopes that no one will notice.

          • USAF VET

Mike, for one thing, the polar bears are NOT drowning. They can swim for miles and miles. Some have been known to swim for over 500 miles. As far as the ice melt, it is because of the salt content. The ice is starting to increace again due to the fact that there is less salt content in the water. The lower the salt content, the more ice is formed. With a higher amount of salt, there is less ice. It is simple science and has nothing to do with warming or cooling. And no matter what they try to say, you cannot convince me that one or two degrees plus or minus is going to cause the oceans to rise becausse when it is below the freezing point for that type of water IT’S GONNA FREEZE.

I know the weather is cooler now than it was 50 or 60 years ago because I experienced it. And a lot of our environmental problems are due to “Government improvement” projects because they have been diverting clean water to various areas that had no water before, thus changing the way God originally had it flowing in the rivers.

          • alwaysright

Mike, there’s nothing definitive out there to support your “facts”. Please show anything to substantiate polar bear drownings. Polar bears have been found as far as 200 miles offshore. Its pretty hard to drown a creature like that. I also recently read an article stating the same this as OP posted, but concluded that they really don’t know how many polar bears there are because they’re nomadic. Polar bears don’t need a heavy ice cap to feed. they feed mostly on penipeds and if the ice gets too think the penipeds can’t gnaw the airholes through the thicker ice. All they know is that the counts they can get, are up substantially.

As for shrinking ice caps, sat. photos don’t support that contention. They’re smaller in summer and large in winter but in fact. Antarctica’s show cover is growing at a recod rate. Furthermore, your argument fails on it’s face for other reason. 20,000 years ago the U.S. was covered with ice sheets up to a mile thick. 1/3 of the way down the country. The ocean levels were about 300ft. lower than now and the “blue holes” in the Bahamas were above sea level. The earth has been warming ever since, up until 1997 anyhow. Man-caused global warming due to CO2? I don’t think so, Mike. Do a read on the 11 year solar cycles, overlying the 100 year solar cycles, overlying the 10,000 solar cycles. Then you’ll understand what is REALLY going on.

  • William Gilbert

    Who is lying to whom?
I’ve seen thermal maps of global temperatures that definitely show global warming, arctic and antarctic ice sheets are thinner by hundreds of feet.
I suspect this “cooling” as Koch spin.

    • seanpatrick3000

Every 30-40 years we cycle between cooling and warming trends. In the 1970′s the first earth day was held and the big theme was global cooling. Google it if you dont believe me, this cycle goes way back there are news paper articles going back to the early 1900′s warning alternately between cooling and warming on a 30-40 yr cycle. Those who do not learn from history are destine to repeat the mistakes of the past…..

    • traderphil

You have , obviously, been fed old data and accepted it as new. The Artic ice cap has INCREASED in the last few years NOT DECREASED as the Inuit will verify easily or the real data from the present time frame will verify( unless you get your “data” from the Greenies who are owned by the Global Elite, unfortunately, the same folks Al Gore is aligned with.) DO SOME REAL DUE DILIGENCE FOLKS and do NOT listen to the Main Street Media who are ALL OWNED by the Globalists(check it out by looking up who owns them) The truth is easy to find BUT ONLY IF YOU ACTUALLY LOOK FOR IT!! Cognitive Dissonance is a constant state of mind for a lot of people, unfortunately. In my humble opinion , that is.

    • Ted Crawford

William; It’s the antarctic ice cap that is experiencing increased melting, the Artic is actually experiencing an increase. Fity years from now it will be just the opposite! It’s due to the wobble of the Earth on its axis and has been the same for eons!

  • Tom

I don’t know why we spend so much time worrying about the climate. We can’t make OR stop any changes in it. It is what it is. The Climate. It has been changing since time began. We as humans, just bumbled onto this fine planet, and we just have to learn to live in whatever climate gets tossed at us. How arrogant do we have to be to think we can do ANYTHING to change the climate?

    • Bev

I am in total agreement. live with it. It Cycles!

  • Steve

Sounds like BS to me since the current sun spot cycle is peaking over the next two years. As evidenced by the CME of last week spraying the Earth with plasma.

  • JJM

So when can we expect the Ohio River to freeze to be impassable?
“We are currently about three years into Cycle 24. Increased activity in the last few months has raised the predicted maximum and moved it earlier in 2013. The current predicted size still makes this the smallest sunspot cycle in over 80 years.” (from NASA Solar Physics.)
Mother Nature runs her own long term balancing act and normal Human interference is minimal compared to what Nature can provide.

  • Deerinwater

    Hmm? interesting!

The same people that are still finding new planets inside our own solar system today.

The same people the Bush administration sequestered from releasing climatic data just 6 years ago as it offered conflict with the administration position and business interest.

If you don’t care, it don’t matter.

  • Phillip in TX

    Al who?

    • jeff

He’s the guy that invented the sun, right?

  • Rennie

The sun is in charge of our weather, cycles extreme or weak, you can generally plot statistics, flood, droughts, etc. and compare to what the sun was doing at teh time, and since isotope emissions can be detected in ice core samples this means a record going back 420,000 years. I would trust that before I believe Al Gore. And yet the global warming scam is continuing to suck up our tax dollars and where are our great GOP candidates on this issue? Helloo?

    • Sirian

Excellent Rennie, you’re one of the very few that looks at this with a much more well founded point of view. HA, hardly anyone thinks of what role our star plays in and on our planets climate. It only seems logical and as you have said, with scientific data to back it up, let the lemmings continue to eat what they are fed. Hummm, wonder how much money they will try to pull to control our sun. . . :)

    • Pete exSF

Very true, look at the Glaciation timelines. The natural state of the Earth would seem to be a Frozen Ball(except the equatorial Region). unfortunately the interglacial periods are growing shorter, which is logical considering the Sun grows older.

    • alwaysright

Rennie, they’re suckin’ up the subsidies from the NWO crowd right along with the demoncraps. They’re just being more subtle about it

  • Alexandra

Anyone who has read ALL KINDS of different source material in re global climate change would know this: An ice age ALWAYS follows a period of intense (abnormal) warming. Al Gore had it right – and if you’ll take the time to read about the physics/triggers in the incredible chain that is global climate, you’ll come to objectively understand that BOTH REPORTS are ACCURATE.

    • vieteravet

      Keep drinking the cool-ade sweetie!

    • USAF VET

Alexandra said “Al Gore had it right”. Albert Gore Jr has never had anything right in his life. For someone who flunked out of Journalism, Theology, Political Science, and one other major that I cannot remember, all at the same university, why do people think he is so smart? Do you people think that Bill “Slick Willy” Clinton chose him for his VP because he was such a brilliant choice? No, he was picked becasue all Clinton wanted was a “Yes” man to go along with whatever he proposed. Gore is not, never has been, nor will he ever be a scientist. He has always been a big mouthed flake and he always will be.

      • USAF VET

Oh yes, Law school was the other one that Albert Gore Jr flunked out of.

    • Pete exSF

The Russians showed high Instability in the Climate prior to Glaciation from Core samples in a lake that was inaccessible until last year

  • AK Tom

Up here in Alaska set new record average cold temp for january. Early ice this fall prevented the city of Nome from getting it’s winters supply of fuel. Had to have the Coast guard icebreaker Healy clear a path to enable a russian tanker to bring in fuel. The ice is also interfering with Bering sea crab fisherman this season. Got 3′ of snow on the roof of our house and it finally warmed up to a balmy 10F this morning. Gotta love that global warming!

    • jeff

I heard on the radio that Fairbanks hit -85f today. I lived there for two years from ’89-91. Is it true? I don’t ever remember it being that cold before Al Gore came along?!?

  • http://personallibertydigest Gottaplenty

Yea Tom I moved down to this global warmed lower 48 , and I noticed it is warmer. Ileft Eagle River during one of those global coolings about 17 yrs. ago so something tells me you can have it however you like it , hang in there.

  • Steve

Why on earth would anyone believe Alvin Gore or any other political hack anyway..Al Gore and every career politician rely on their lie to be purchased by the few who will use their pedigree to be that lies spokesperson and thus the lie is purchased by the party selling the lie to the clueless..Al Gore is a pathological liar…He has a history of telling lies..same for Bush Jr and Sr..Same for both Clintons and Ronald Reagan..and every President and wanna be you can name..the only one who has the guts to tell the truth Ron Paul is maligned by those of you who are conditioned by party affiliation or some other disorder to hate the truth because it doesn’t feel as good as the lie…Lord help us all

    • Darkstar

      Well put Steve.

    • NC

Steve, Ron Paul’s problem is that 93% of the Republicans in Florida who had a chance to vote for him voted for someone else.Maybe the Republican Party is not where he should be! 7% is what the FBI would call a clue!

    • alwaysright

well, at least he tells what would ge the truth in his parallel universe maybe. Iran isn’t our enemy? The Taliban isn’t our enemy? Funny but both of them seem to believe that they are. Likewise islam has been the enemy of the Judeo-Christian faith since 632 AD. Goodnight Ms. Cavendish, whereever you may be…

  • Randy131

Russian scientist already projected a mini ice age, similar to the one during the ‘Dark Ages’, about 2 to 3 years ago. But Al Gore doesn’t have to worry any, he already made more than 200 million dollars off the ‘Global Warming’ scam, that has now morphed into ‘Climate Change’ while he and the other scammers try to make even more money by changing the name of the scam for an unwittingly informed public.

    • Deerinwater

Why does Al Gore making money bother you so?

Do you feel the same way about other people making profits, say like Newt or Glenn Beck or some Wall Street trader?

or me? as I sometimes make 300% profit on services and products that are exclusive, often regulated and require, insurance, education and a license to market and sell.

Who makes money that you do like?

      • Jim

Why does Al Gore making money bother you so?
Because he is making money perpetuating a SCAM…….

        • libertytrain

I agree, I don’t care if he’s the richest man on the planet but to make it as a snake oil salesman for saving the planet bull, that’s a really big scam. Bernie Madoff but a little chunkier and goofier. A thief is a thief is a thief.

      • eddie47d

There are the Koch Brothers who have spent millions telling scientists to deny climate change.Chew on that hoax that they are perpetrating. Even scientists in Texas who agreed that there is global warming were told to cease and desist or you would be fired. Forcing someone to deny the facts doesn’t look very credible for the other side either.

        • alwaysright

you can always rely on eddie to come up with stuff like this he can’t support and which has holes in it big enough to drive an icebreak through. The Koch brothers are buying off scientists all over the world and over 31,487 in the U.S. alone?

          http://www.petitionproject.org.

Sorry eddie, facts don’t back your post. I think these 31,487 beat the 1500 or so at the IPCC, just a few of whom were actually climatologists.

  • scrappydoo2

To Mike: The liberal newspeak services neglect to tell you that:

    1. Polar bears are strong swimmers; they swim across bays or wide leads without hesitation. They can swim for several hours at a time over long distances. They’ve been tracked swimming continuously for 100 km (62 mi.) (Stirling, 1988).

    2. A polar bear’s front paws propel them through the water dog-paddle style. The hind feet and legs are held flat and are used as rudders.

    3. A thick layer of blubber (fat), up to 11 cm (4.3 in.) thick, keeps the polar bear warm while swimming in cold water (Stirling, 1988).

    4. Polar bears can obtain a swimming speed of 10 kph (6.2 mph) (Stirling, 1988).

    5. The hair of a polar bear easily shakes free of water and any ice that may form after swimming.

    6. A polar bear’s nostrils close when under water.

Doubtful they are drowning in droves. Do a bit of your own research. Geesh.

  • oldbill

There are eight know ice age cycles in the geological record. From peak heat to peak cold, they cycles last 250,000 years. There has been no human DNA found that is older than 5,000 years. How did our activity cause the other cycles? Are we really causing the present cycle. To have an ice age the average temperature has to be 32 degrees F or colder. The average today, and since records have been kept, is about 57 degrees F. As long as the average is above 32 degrees F, the above ground ice will continue to melt. However, we are likely nearing the end of the warming cycle, and the cause is likely extra-terrestrial, that is the proximity of the Solar System to the core of the Milky Way, as the system orbits the galaxy.

  • Don

Somehow, incredibly, the article fails to mention this portion…
“Yet, in its paper, the Met Office claimed that the consequences now would be negligible – because the impact of the sun on climate is far less than man-made carbon dioxide. Although the sun’s output is likely to decrease until 2100, ‘This would only cause a reduction in global temperatures of 0.08C.’ Peter Stott, one of the authors, said: ‘Our findings suggest a reduction of solar activity to levels not seen in hundreds of years would be insufficient to offset the dominant influence of greenhouse gases.’”
And “These findings are fiercely disputed by other solar experts.”
It also fails to mention that the “research” was conducted on behalf of the oil industry by an industry-sponsored “institute”.
It also states later on that one “scientist” said ‘Nature is about to carry out a very interesting experiment,’ he said. ‘Ten or 15 years from now, we will be able to determine much better whether the warming of the late 20th Century really was caused by man-made CO2, or by natural variability.’
We recently had the warmest decade in recorded history, droughts that cover area’s in the United States that cover areas the size of European nations, the polar ice cap is melting, and even the Koch Brothers Crime dynasty own funded study admitted the problem was due to Man-made CO2…
Seems the dynasty that be and their worshippers of oil-covered golden icols, will grasp at anything, even the ruination of the gift that God gave us called planet Earth.

It said “the meek shall inherit the Earth” ,but its obvious that the ones who are the most arrogant about their ignorance want to leave them a burning cesspool of pollution.
Bless your hearts, and, Gawd bless America

Best use of this article I can think of is to send it to all of our representatives. Let them read it for themselves and HOPEFULLY use it as intended to STOP SPENDING OUR MONEY on foolishness related to global warming. Stop the carbon taxes making all of our electric bills skyrocket. Man I am so tired of others telling me what is best for me!

We may have some global coling for awhile but we are still in global warming. Suns get hotter when they age, then Poof! no more sun, and of course no more life on earth. We’ve been in global warming for the past 14,000 years, back then North Amrica was covered with 2-mile-deep ice down to the Ohio River. The next guy that says ‘global cooling’ will hafta answer ta me!

  • cptwayne

They switched to Climate Change because they were wrong about the issue of CO2 being a major cause of global warming. It was a fishy foul smelling “cop out.”

  • cptwayne

Yes, the Earth is losing more heat, as indicated by our high flying satellites. In the upper Troposphere, CO2 is displacing water vapor (humidity) causing it to cool down. So, this represents a negative feedback. This is occurring, they state, at about 400 mbar, just the level the IPPC says is most important for the warming effects of CO2. WRONG again IPPC! Also, the clouds are “falling” as the colder air dome pushes them 40 meters closer to the ground. Gravity is real folks. Not imaginary like man made catastrophic warming.
