Chrysler, Ford Post Sales Gains For November

DETROIT (UPI) — U.S. automakers Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Group said sales of trucks and SUVs boosted overall sales in November.

Ford sales rose 7.1 percent from November 2012 to November 2013 with strong gains in sales of F-Series trucks, as well as gains from E-Series trucks and Fusion and Fiesta passenger cars.

Chrysler posted a November-to-November sales gain of 16 percent with gains helped by the launch of the 2014 model Jeep Cherokee, which arrived in showrooms in late October, The Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday.

Chrysler said it sold 142,275 vehicles in November compared to 122,565 in November 2012. For Chrysler, truck sales improved 26 percent, while sales of passenger cars dropped 7 percent.

Jeep sales set the pace with a 30 percent increase.

Ford sales for November came to 189,705 vehicles compared to 177,092 in November 2012.

Truck sales at Ford rose 15 percent, while passenger car sales rose 4 percent, the Journal said.
