Christie, Booker Star In Parody Film

NEWARK, N.J., (UPI) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Newark Mayor Cory Booker appeared together in a humorous video, despite being potential rivals in next year’s election.

Booker, who made headlines three weeks ago when he rescued a woman from a burning building, appeared in the video to fix Christie’s flat tire in a parody of a flat tire situation the governor found himself in while on his way to a Washington-bound train May 4, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Thursday.

“The fact is that the governor and the mayor are naturals, and thanks to their improvisation and willingness to have some fun at their own expense, the final product came together,” Christie communications director Maria Comella said.

Christie, a Republican, and Booker, a Democrat, are seen as potential rivals in the 2013 gubernatorial race.

“When I called Cory to ask him to be in that video with me, he said ‘yes’ right away, and that doesn’t happen overnight between Republicans and Democrats — you have to build relationships,” Christie said.
