Chocolate Castle, Lawn Gnome Among Gifts Given British Royal Family

LONDON (UPI) — Britain’s Buckingham Palace revealed unusual gifts presented to the royal family in 2013 include a chocolate model of Windsor Castle and a garden gnome.

The official lists revealed the royal gifts presented to Queen Elizabeth last year included the candy castle from the Mars chocolate company, a London transport Oyster card to mark the 150th anniversary of the London Underground and a clock decorated with a silver horse and golden palm trees from the king of Bahrain, the Mirror reported Wednesday.

Among the gifts the queen’s husband, Prince Philip, received were a bottle of beer from the Cutty Sark Trust and a wooden box from the South Korean government.

Princess Anne, the queen’s daughter, got the garden gnome, as well as a wheel of Stilton cheese and a painting of herself riding a moose.

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla’s gifts included perfume, olive oil and a ceramic figurine of Charles with British cartoon character Postman Pat from Jordanian filmmakers Rubicon.

Prince Harry’s gift haul for the year included a leather flying jacket from U.S. first lady Michelle Obama as well as various T-shirts and baseball caps.

The official lists did not include any items for Prince William and his wife Kate, as they did not embark on any official visits during 2013 due to caring for their newborn son George.
