Chinese Wine Beats French In Tasting

BEIJING, Dec. 23 (UPI) — A panel of 10 wine experts, half from France and half from China, picked Chinese wine over French beverages in a blind tasting in Beijing.

The judges picked four wines from China’s northwestern Ningxia region over all five French wines from the Bordeaux area during the event, with a 2009 Lafite Saga from the Medoc area of Bordeaux taking the fifth place position, The Local reported Friday.

“The Ningxia region has huge potential,” Bordeaux wine specialist Nathalie Sibille told daily newspaper 20 Minutes.
