Chicago, The Epicenter Of Gun Control Madness

February 19, 2013 by

Chicago, The Epicenter Of Gun Control Madness
President Barack Obama returned to his hometown Friday to address the gun violence that has plagued Chicago.

President Barack Obama traveled to Chicago Friday to discuss gun violence. Many pundits pointed out that the President’s hometown was an odd venue for the speech, as it already has some of the Nation’s strictest gun laws. But, it seems, to no avail.

Within hours of the President’s speech, the sister of a 14-year-old who attended the event was shot dead in North Chicago, despite the President’s call to end street violence in the city.

On Sunday, Chicago police superintendent Garry McCarthy — who previously has blamed Chicago violence on “government-sponsored racism” and Sarah Palin — suggested that gun owners are corrupt individuals guilty of endangering public safety. McCarthy also suggested that legislators and judges should cast aside the Constitution and make and interpret laws based on public opinion polls.

“Garry McCarthy’s understanding of our Constitution barely qualifies him as a meter maid, never mind the chief of the nation’s third-largest police department,” said Illinois State Rifle Association executive director Richard Pearson in response to the interview. “What on earth would possess McCarthy to assert that constitutional rights should be meted out based on public opinion polls?”

During his television appearance, McCarthy also interpreted the “shall not be infringed” portion of the 2nd Amendment as giving governments and police agencies license to impose mandatory liability insurance requirements on gun owners, and require that GPS tracking devices are affixed to firearms sold to civilians. He believes this is appropriate because the Founders were referring only to smooth bore muskets.

Pearson described McCarthy’s view of the Constitution as “dangerous and unbecoming of a civil servant.” The ISRA director also took issue with McCarthy’s assertion that individuals lobbying lawmakers to support gun rights is a form of corruption.

“McCarthy needs to understand that the lawful firearm owners of this state will continue to lobby their representatives and continue to support candidates who represent their interests,” said Pearson. “If Garry McCarthy doesn’t like that, well that’s just too bad. If McCarthy is so interested in influence peddling, he should pop into some of the gin mills ringing the Illinois Capitol and count the ruddy red noses of taxpayer-funded lobbyists for the City of Chicago.”

    “Refuse All Registration Schemes

National firearms registration and gun databases are almost always followed by full gun confiscation. The process is usually done in a standardized manner: First demand extensive registration and cataloging of gun owners. Second, ban more effective styles of weaponry, including semi-automatics and high capacity rifles (Let the sport hunters keep their bolt actions for a time, and lure them onto your side with the promise that they will get to keep their .270 or their 30-06). Then take all semi-auto handguns. Then, ban high powered magnum style bolt actions by labeling them “sniper rifles”. Then demand that the gun owners that still remain allow official “inspections” of their home by law enforcement to ensure that they are “storing their weapons properly”. Then, force them to move those weapons to a designated “warehouse or range”, locked away for any use other than recreational shooting. Then, when the public is thoroughly disconnected from their original right to bear arms, take everything that’s left.

Keep in mind that the federal government and certain state governments are acting as if they would like to skip ALL of the preliminary steps and go straight to full confiscation. I am not discounting that possibility. But, they may feign certain concessions in the near term in order to get the one thing they really want – full registration.

Registration must be the line in the sand for every single gun owner in this country, whether they own several semi-automatics, or one pump action shotgun. Once you give in to being registered, fingerprinted, photographed, and tracked wherever you decide to live like a convicted sexual predator, you have shown that you have no will or spirit. You have shown that you will submit to anything.

After a full registration has been enacted, every gun (and maybe every bullet) will be tracked. If confiscation is utilized, they know exactly what you have and what you should not have, and exactly where you are. Criminals will still acquire weapons illegally, as they always have. The only people who will suffer are law abiding citizens. It’s a recipe for dictatorship and nothing more. ”

Notice how “insurance” has crept into the “conversation”. All this killing and no “deep pockets” for the lawyers to go after. I wonder if “gangs” will be able to obtain quantity discounts on their premiums? Oh, and BTW, ILL now has Indiana in their “sights” as the main culprit in supplying guns to gangs. According to “news accounts” here, anyone can go to an Indiana “gun show” and walk out with as many guns as they can afford. No questions asked. I guess this gives new meaning to “border security”.

    • eddie47d

Are you afraid of facts Warrior? Within 26 hours after the last gun show in Ft Wayne Indiana 43 firearms ended up in Chicago. At that gun show few background checks were needed,no waiting period and no records of sales needed for buyers. Cash sales were encouraged and private sales were common. Nice and easy, slick as a whistle and magically all the guns a person needs end up in Chicago. You all can play the 3 monkeys all you want. Pretend this isn’t going on and deny there isn’t a problem with loopholes but its there right in front of your faces.Maybe its the thrill of the potential carnage to allow weak laws to exist. Maybe you look at it as historic efforts like the Underground Railroad in shuffling weapons into Chicago. Those 43 firearms were confiscated by undercover cops from known criminals. That “border security” issue isn’t so funny when a city has to go on added alert after gun shows in another state. This country is still a Swiss cheese factory for gun runners and you all love it!

      • ibcamn

Eddie,i actually see your side of what your getting at!(wooo, the hair on the back of my neck just stood up)anyways,i also believe that all gun shows(anybody selling a weapon) should have a background check system in place.the person buying the gun can pay for it.i think if you put that on the dealer they would be tempted to raise the price of the sale and blame it on the law and regulations.(you know,it cost me sooo much to run a check on you,it’s gonna cost me a lot to do it!)ha ha!yes gun shows all over the US should have to do a check(all dealers at shows have to anyways)…banning gun shows,NO……

    • ibcamn

warrior,do you mean state line?border is a bit south and north!

  • Jonesy

I think most people would be surprised to find out that weapons taken from Chicago drug dealers and gang bangers were actually from operation ” Fast and Furious “.

    • eddie47d

That’s a bald face lie Jonsey! There are Fast and Furious weapons found at crime scenes in Mexico and occasionally in the USA but I could find only one source where a weapon was found in the Chicago area. Most weapons found come from Indiana and then from Milwaukee. The title of this article should have been called “The Epicenter of Gun Running Madness”. Gun Runners of all persuasions (civilian and government agents) are all guilty of this madness. They are the ones that need to cease and desist. There are still 1,200 guns not accounted for in the Fast & Furious debacle so there will be continued problems coming out of that failed operation. We also had Operation Wide Receiver and Operation Gun Runner under G Bush. There is still the ATF Assistant Director of the ATF Southwest Region (George Gillett) who is being investigated. He is now being accused of a felony since a gun (Herstal 57) that he illegally bought ended up at a crime scene in Mexico. (unrelated to F & F) The felony is that he used a phony address when he purchased the weapon. So we have the foxes guarding the hen house and Gillett is one of the smoking guns. All these gun runners need to be stopped and imprisioned. From gun show sellers to government officials they are all guilty of this madness.

      • Grandpafrog

Where is eddie47d getting his info. Are the guns in Chicago “coming from Ind. and Mil.” from some data bank? A gun registry data bank?

And the infantile attempt to relate the import of 43 guns (taken from criminals) to a gun show in Ft. Wayne? Just because two things happen at about the same time does not mean they are related. That is about the same as saying that the meteor or Russia was because Obama was in Chicago!

With eddie76d’s logic, he should be called fasteddie instead.

        Grandpa Frog

      • eddie47d

The same thing happened after the Evanstown Indiana gun show so maybe there is a pattern after all Grandpa Frog. Okay smart alick I see your still in a slow boil and refuse to jump out of the pan!

      • John Mitchell

        Grandpa frog,
Wasn’t the meteor in Russia caused by global warming, as some in California have claimed?

      • eddie47d

        Another lie spread by John.

    • ibcamn

i thought they were mostly brand new and bought from dealers at or near the border(towns)and told to not ask questions!some may have been seized weapons from around that area!not real sure on that!

  • Abinadi

I Saw an article yesterday that the Obama Admin EEOC is going to “Sue” Businesses that don’t hire EX-Cons because that is racist!

    • walt jenisch

more divide and conquer from the ahole and chief…

  • Terry C

Mcarthy has vilated his oath of office to “Defend and Support the Constitution”. He should be removed from office. Also a question for him: Chicago has one of the strictist gun control laws in the Nation. Yet, it also has the highest murder rate. How’s gun control working for you?

    • eddie47d

Those who want to limit the killings are constantly bombarded by the gun runners who keep weapons flowing into big cities all over this nation. You know those morally upstanding citizens who make it easy to purchase said weapons.

      • R. Rodriguez

You might want to research the “fast and furious” fiasco if you want to talk gun running. I believe that was your loving government.

      • eddie47d

If you care to listen I mention F & F all the time so what’s your problem

  • Gg

We are all missing the root cause of the increasing gun violence. What intelligent society allows 24/7 viewing of illegal , immoral acts to its youth? The hypnotic assimilation of mindless killing through video games, tv, movies has resulted in much of the increased violence. Children are not allowed to view graphic legal sex acts . Why in heavens name do we allow them to view illegal, acts through all medias until they are of age?

    • wandamurline

The kids get to view too much sex on TV right now with shows like Scandle and things like Lost Girl and soooo many others…could this be the reason teenage pregnancies are through the roof? Now back to Obama visiting Chicago….this president does one thing well, and that is campaigning….he has been campaigning for four years, and now he has been re-elected, he is still campaigning…unfortunately, his words mean nothing…it is all propaganda and preaching to the illiterate…when he should be in Washington working instead of talking. As far as McCarthy, all I can say is that he took an oath of office that he has publically decided not to uphold which means that he should be removed from that office by the people or the City Council….but then again, Rahm Emanuel is in the front of Obama cleaning the pathway for anything the king wishes….my advice….if you can, move out of Chicago.

    • ibcamn

I’m with you on the sex thing, but the game thing is the responsibility of parents!just like music,if your child is set standards they will do what is right(almost always!)

i do think the internet has really messed up the porn thing and kids see that all the time,so again it’s the values that are instilled into the child from parents!if a kid has values, they are way less likely to view porn!(i hope)

let me tell you, violence is a love hate deal!if a kid sits and plays games in the dark corner of the basement all day,it just means the parents are not interested in their child’s life!and that the kid has no friends!it’s being socially retarded that will make a kid mental!!technology has done that to a lot of kids nowadays!family values have changed because gov’t wants to run our homes!-back to love n hate-if some one likes killing, that’s just it,done deal!if some one hates killing, they won’t,that’s it done deal!!..but then there’s the evil that men do!this is the one that makes me worry!it’s when the person is literally forced to kill!there are many levels to this one it’s on the verge of being mentally disturbed!it would take a book to explain this one,and i’m sure their out there!.i think we are being pushed to do the evil that men do by this gov’t,that’s why all the gun and rifle buys are going on and why ammo is in short supply!

The gov’t saw this coming and started buying up almost 2 billion rounds of ammo!they already knew the second they said they were going to trample on our rights and blow off the constitution we going to react this way!the problem being, they were only thinking of legally owned weapons and owners, they did not include criminals!now it’s going wrong and they are reaching foe any straw they can think of!(gun ins, register mags and weapons, gun bans, buy back programs, ammo limitations…)in some areas they even forgot to write into the laws to exempt police officers!(how stupid is that)we won’t mention NY in this tid bit!!i hang out in Chicago and it will only get worse, and when it does,i’m sure that Obama and the henchmen will go after law abiding citizens again for something!

  • SmithWinston6478

The idea that the Founders intended the citizenry to be limited forevermore to smooth-bore muskets is patently absurd. Their reference was to the known state of the art. The 2nd Amendment acknowleged the inalienable right of the populace to defend themselves from all manner of tyranny with what was (or is) the technology available at the time.

“We the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts; not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow men who pervert the Constitution.” – Abraham Lincoln

  • ToughGuy1

Please, I’m more fearful with a guy coming at me with a baseball bat, or a golf club-driver,or putter.

    • ibcamn

“Say what?!”… your only scared of being beat up and not shot dead!??!

    • http://PersonalLiberty kajunhunter

Sure you are. Give me another laugh today, I’m still short a few.

Here is an interesting article – some of you might find interesting as well as comical.

    Report from Guns & Ammo

S&W: Running at Full capacity making 300+ guns/day-mainly M&P pistols. They are unable to produce any more guns to help with the shortages.

RUGER: Plans to increase from 75% to 100% in the next 90 days.

FNH: Moving from 50% production to 75% by Feb 1st and 100% by March 1.

    Remington: Maxed out!

    Armalite: Maxed out.

DPMS: Can’t get enough parts to produce any more product.

COLT: Production runs increasing weekly…bottle necked by lack of bolt carrier’s.

LWRC: Making only black guns, running at full capacity…can’t get enough gun quality steel to make barrels.

Springfield Armory: Only company who can meet demand but are running 30-45 days behind.

AMMO: Every caliber is now Allocated! We are looking at a nation wide shortage of all calibers over the next 9 months. All plants are producing as much ammo as possible w/over 1 BILLION rounds produced weekly. Most is military followed by L.E. and civilians are third in line.

MAGPUL: Behind 1 MILLION mags, do not expect any large quantities of magpul anytime soon.

RELOADERS: ALL Remington, Winchester, CCI & Federal primers are going to ammo FIRST. There are no extra’s for reloading purposes… it could be 6-9 months before things get caught up. Sorry for the bleak news, but now we know what to expect in the coming months. Stay tuned, we’ll keep you posted…

    Related commentary from Bob Owens:

They didn’t know when they’d be getting anything back in stock, from magazines to rifles to pistols. Manufacturers are running full-bore, but can’t come close to keeping up with market demand. It isn’t just the AR-15s, the AK-pattern rifles, the M1As, and the FALs that are sold out. It really hit me when I realized that the World War-era M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, and Enfield .303s are gone, along with every last shell. Ubiquitous Mosin-Nagants—of which every gun store always seemed to have 10-20—are gone. So is their ammo. Only a dust free space marked their passing. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Every weapon of military utility designed within the past 100+ years is gone. This isn’t a society stocking up on certain guns because they fear they may be banned. This is a society preparing for war.

Barack Obama, Dianne Feinstein and the rest of the Statists have done more to promote gun ownership than the NRA ever did. Well done, Democrats!

    • John Mitchell

I have several personal defense weapons that look to scary for Feinstein. I am trying to purchase several more. I am moving money out of the stock market to invest in heavy metals such as brass and lead. I have been waiting over six months and am told it will be another year before I can take possession of one of the weapons and some of the ammo I have purchased because of back orders.

I urge all responsible citizens to start investing in heavy metal. We have a president who is promoting class warfare that will ultimately result in riots. Tens of thousands may be killed in the riots. Mostly innocent, defenseless, law abiding citizens.

      remember the LA riots?

  • R.F.

Gun control laws have to be national in scope. It is silly to note that a particular city or state has strict laws when all anyone needs to do is buy a gun someplace where the laws are lax and simply transport it anywhere.

    • Hedgehog

R.F.; There is a well established and quite simple protocol for amending your constitution. Ask yourself why your federal government is not using it? The answer is simple too, because the amendment would never pass and the federal government does not have the constitutional authority to take such action. All such efforts on the part of the feds are ultra vires.

      • R. Fine

The federal government certainly DOES have the authority to pass laws that apply to the entire nation – they do it all the time.

      • ZetaByte

Mr. Fine – have you actually read the Constitution, and in particular the 10th amendment? Yes, the federal government passes law “all the time,” and a huge number of them are blatently unconstitutional. I imagine you like democracy. Well, what happens with the majority decide to trample on a liberty YOU hold dear? Ours is supposed to be a limited government, a Constitutional Representative Republic, and the Consitution built the box within which the federal government was supposed to function. Force that government back into that box, and we’ll be more free, and prosperous. A video everyone should watch:

    • walt jenisch

gun owners are not crimimal,as you suggest in you statement..

      • R. Fine

I did not suggest that gun owners (in general) are criminals. Some may very well be and certainly criminals who use guns in crime are.

      • cawmun cents

A criminal doesnt have to own a gun,he can steal one from an owner and use it in a crime. So a liberal will say,if you take the guns from everyone then this will not happen!
But if a person is bound and determined to get a firearm, cant he just bring one across the border?Yes…in fact now there is drug smuggling when it is illegal to posess drugs.
It is done by bringing them across the border.
Well then, wont they be able to do the same thing with guns?
        Of course they will.
But those in power are willing to give them guns to smuggle,so that they can track where these guns are being sold and used, right?
That depends on whether the guns they are supplying are tracked from start to finish.
If at any time the location of the guns are not known, then they have “lost track”of them.
To be sure if they lose track od firearms and then those firearms wind up in the hands of criminals and are used in the committing of crimes, then instead of admitting that they lost track of these firearms, they point the finger at those who sold them the firearms in the first place. It is a political win,win for the progressives.
It works the same way with banning particular firearms.
Except that since they wont close the borders, even if they ban the sale and posession of firearms and related materials, there will be smuggling and crime will skyrocket necessarily as a result. This is what has happened in the illict drug trade.
They work with cartels, not against them to make it easier for these drugs to enter the populace and poison the minds of the youth. That way they maintain control over certain demographic arenas and parts of the populace.
These same groups of individuals and communities vote for them to “prtoect” them and to “supply” them simultaneously.
Whenever a collective is powerful enough to provide for itself,as in the case of here in California, they raid and harass until everyone has to buy imported drugs, instead of being able to rely on domestic supplies.Thay way they partner with the cartels, and use moneys for both keeping the flow across the border going, and feigning fighting against that same flow.
That way…no matter what side of the coin lands it works in their favor.
        Its called “Full Spectrum Domination”.
And it works in every way which the unsuspecting public is subjected to it.
A liberal cant see this because he is busy arguing for this thing to occur, and a conservative cant see this because he cant believe that corruption runs this deep in a governing body.
So you get the naysayers telling you what their little fixes are, when you dont understand that it is a well oiled machine working exactly as it is made to.
        This is marketing 101.
        This is brainwashing 101.
        This is control 101.
Critical thinking is never brought into the picture, because the picture is never what it would seem it should be.
So your thought mimics your handlers thoughts, and your actions mimic the actions of those who dare not loosen the cogs of the well oiled machine.
Everything is still as it should be.
But the one who is really in control,is bringing the machine to a screeching halt, and you are going to be there to witness it.

    • Vicki

      R.F. says:
“Gun control laws have to be national in scope. It is silly to note that a particular city or state has strict laws when all anyone needs to do is buy a gun someplace where the laws are lax and simply transport it anywhere.”

How dare they break the law. Then again that is the point. Criminals DON’T CARE.
Law abiding citizens are punished when their their Constitutionally PROTECTED right to keep and bear arms is infringed at ANY level of government.

STOP PUNISHING THE INNOCENT for the acts of a few.

      STOP IT

      • R. Fine

At least do you agree that there should be nation wide background checks on potential gun buyers so that outright criminals could be turned away from a purchase?

      • Vicki

        R. Fine says:
“At least do you agree that there should be nation wide background checks on potential gun buyers so that outright criminals could be turned away from a purchase?”

Criminals don’t buy guns at any place that does background checks. All that background checks do is delay the law abiding (punishing them yet again).

A right delayed is a right denied – MLK

Now if you really wanted to keep guns out of the hands of “outright criminals” there is a solution so trivially easy that I still do not understand why you don’t do it.

My that was easy. And common sense too.

  • http://midcontent ridge runner

Don’t know if anyone listened to the congental lying muslim marxist, but as usual hisBS of caring for the middle class, was just crap. Higher gas prices were ignored, gouging of middle class paychecks weren’t mentioned. His monthly vacation of his and his Grumpazzed mate that cost over a million dollars for theirvfkof time every month. Lots of purple lip flapping and nothing getting done. Guess nobody will be taking a vacation because gas will be over $5 a gal. , plus there is no jobs, what a combo..

  • Jason_Wise

Chicago proves one thing, Gun Control Does Not and Will Not Work.

    • R. Fine

Gun control can not work unless it is NATIONAL in scope. Not much use in having strong laws in one city or state when you have lax or no controls just over a border in another state.

      • R. Rodriguez

Sir there are some youtube videos that you should watch. They are of UK and Austrailian citizens enjoying a gun controlled nation. They just love it now that they can not protect themselves from increased assaults and home invasions. No matter what you say, when you outlaw weapons, only the outlaws will have them.

  • Dave Bishop

“Gun control.” It would be in our best interest to support it. Unfortunately, guns are unable to reason -or think, extrapolate, or otherwise understand directions like a dog, or even a cat that will occasionaly yield to direction.

It is reasonable to assume that no gun ever respected a repremand.

It only respnds to a firm hand.

    • Brian Davis

I do get the analogy, (and here comes the but,) you haven’t met my dog. He responds to love well; a “firm hand,” is likely to be bitten off! A bit like his owner lol.

  • Carline D. Long

The President spent many many Millions here in stimulus and his efforts have failed. Making Chicago a huge gun free zone will get continued killings of the innocents!

    • John Mitchell

there has been only one mass murder committed in the past 50 years outside of a “gun free zone” The goal of gun free zones is to create an atmosphere of victim vulnerability so the cowardly mass murder can have more time and leisure to stroll around massacring innocent people and children.

      • R. Rodriguez

I think that was the point she was making as well, that gun free zones only make easier targets for the maniacs.

  • trp878

From my experience, I throw all the blame of crime and corruption on the Chief of Police, McCarthy of Chicago. He permits this to take place by not having allowed the legitimate police officers to do their job. They know what they can and can not do but because the Chief doesn’t lay down the rules for them to follow, they probably hesitate for fear of him retaliating. Been there seen that.

  • R. Fine

Did you mean ‘dumb’? Anyway the point is that one locale can have strict gun laws but it doesn’t add up to much if guns are easily bought in the next city or state over that has lax laws. Guns are purchased in the lax area and simply brought anywhere else. This is not a very complicated concept.
