Another great one Ben! Keep them comming! Obama thinks that he and the libs aren’t stupid? Do we really have to answer “h*** yeah” to that obviously easy question? Have a Happy Easter and may God Bless America! FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

    • Eddie47d

The way you folks attack GM is beyond stupid.I’m thinking of buying a new car and liked what I saw at the auto show. I may not buy a Gm but they are certainly in the race. I wonder who the real Americans are around here and it certainly isn’t your “master of ceremonies”. Also bringing Manson into any one’s conversation shows a lack of ideas and a sign of desperation.

      • Beefcake

I agree Eddie, The right thing to do would be to give the GM stock to the Unions in place of compensation

        • libertytrain

Eddie – you must not watch the news – Manson opinions, suggestions have been all over it recently.

And what about the rest of us? What do we get for having our pockets picked and our currency devalued? Screw the Unions, they’re as much a part of the problem as the Government/Corporate cronies are.

            Of Interest?

Emergency Alert USD – April 2011

BRIC Nations Not Using US Dollar for Credit Transactions – BRIC is an acronym referencing the nations of Brazil, Russia, India and China. It is sometimes referred to as BRICS with South Africa added in at the end. I do not think South Africa is significant economically but it is grouped in there anyway. The combined economic strength of these nations is massive. It dwarfs the USA. Just think of the population of India and China alone. These nations account for 40% of the population in the world (3 billion approx.) and 20% of the World Domestic Product. The BRICS nations hold 40% of the world currency reserves most of which is in USD. BRICS is a serious group of players.

What Did BRICS Nations Do – Well they signed an agreement to use their own currencies instead of the US Dollar in issuing credit or grants to each other in commerce. Let’s see their own statement:

“Our designated banks have signed a framework agreement on financial cooperation which envisages grant of credit in local currencies and cooperation in capital markets and other financial services,” Manmohan Singh told reporters at a news conference with other BRICS leaders.” Thus the death certificate for the USD has been signed. It will take some time for Rigor Mortis to set in.

Who Signed This – The agreement, the first-of-its-kind, was signed at the 3rd BRICS summit here attended by Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, China’s Hu Jintao, Brazil’s Dilma Rousseff, Russia’s Dmitry Medvedev and South Africa’s Jacob Zuma. This is quite a cast of characters.

Mainstream Media Blacking Out this Story – Let me prove this to you:

libertytrain; Manson is irrelevant and so totally bogus. Why are you hanging on to his every word. No wonder you can’t move on if you are fearful of a nobody. Crystal is short of a swastika on his forehead and you clamor for more crap.

            Rant away. ;) lol

If I remember right edduh, Crystal was a girl. It tends to be a girls name, right? Second, she is in no way, shape, or form a NAZI and you being an absolute moron shouldn’t just throw that name around at anybody. Due to my extensive studies of Nazism, Hitler, and facism (counting those other than Hitler’s regime), you don’t know what it is you are talking about. Why is it when someone stands up against the unions, which we have freedom of speech in this country, you lib morons always brand someone a nazi, liar, ignorant, etc? Rant all you want. We patriots are trying to save this country from morons like you, edduh! FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

          • libertytrain

eddie you say the silliest things. Who is giving credibility to Manson? He’s just a joke and a murderer. I think the only reason he’s on the news is he’s so ridiculous it’s funny.

You really have no room to talk Eddie. There is nothing new about being a socialist agitator. Yet you you talk like it suppose to be some new idea instead of what it is-a documented failure.

        • Lomax

GM, that is Government Motors, apparently isn’t being run any better by Obama’s appointees than it was by the idiots that were running it before. They make more cars in China than they do here, so what is the idea of calling them American? I was hoping that they would do better after they came out of bankruptcy, which Obama said wasn’t an option, but since they are now owned by the Government and the unions, (organized crime), they are really not doing much better if any. We, the tax payers, were supposed to make a lot of money on that deal. Have any of you gotten any checks from GM or the Government for distribution of the profits from this great deal? I haven’t. It is just another example of the fact that government cannot run anything well, including itself. It is to corrupt. Government is composed mostly of liars, cheats, and thieves. This government is a prime example.

          • JC

That’s a fact Lomax. And let’s not overlook the DIRECT comaprison to what Hitler did in NAZI Germany. He didn’t take the manufacturing companies away from the owners, he just put people in to tell (force) them to operate under state direction.
Do I blame Obama? Not directly, he didn’t start this fascist joke…but he has amplified it 10 fold.
It has to stop! End the Fed and Restore the Free Republic.

And see the Consumer Reports list of the worst cars on the road. Drum roll please. Who has the most cars on the Consumer Reports Worst Cars on the Road List? Government Motors!!!!!!! One entry is that ugly beast Known as the Cadillac Escalade!!!!! Tell the U.S. taxpayers what they won for bailing out G.M., Johnny. That’s right, another unreliable big ugly gas guzzler and a huge national deficit!!!!!!

      • JC

Right On Eddie…you step right up there and get yourself a nice new Government Sponsored car from the Communist Motors Corp. Especially if it gives you that false sense of patriotism you seem to be espousing. The Government had NO business stealing my money to bail out their irresponsible corporate crony pals. I sold my Siverado and Ford got a customer for life…why? because I don’t patronize irresponsible UnAmerican Fascist corporations or governments. But I will buy from an American automaker who was responsible enough to look after itself. If you should buy a CMC product all I can say is happy motoring Comrade.

        • Crystal

          Very nicely said….. Thank you

        • http://naver samurai

Well said, fellow patriot! FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

          • Eddie47d

Why does Donald Trump want to tax Chinese goods 25% when Americans like you are always willing to buy foreign goods. I can hear you crying now after he pulls that one.Support the Chinese and Koreans but not the American worker. That is your New World Order that some of you hype up but are bringing it on yourselves.

          • JC

Eddie, you are a “prize winning idiot”.
Your talking about the very thingwe want to change.
We want our economy back…WITHOUT the UNIONS that helped send it overseas.

          • http://naver samurai

Well edduh, did you ever think that many Americans buy things made in China because they are cheaper in price? Why do you think that so many things made here in America are so expensive? Look no farther than the corrupt business world and unions. By how many times they increase their pay and benefits, the companies have to charge more on the pricetag. Unions may have been good for the worker at one time, but they’ve been hurting the consumer a lot. What’s more important to business edduh, the consumer (customer) or some darn union? It shouldn’t take your little lib mind long to think about that. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

          • Eddie47d

Then start buying from American workers if you are for God and Country. The Chinese are Buddhists, communists and atheists or have you forgotten. You talk through both ends and I’m not your edduh!

          • http://naver samurai

Wrong again Ed! My wife and I went to Wal-Mart last week and bought some Levi’s Jeans. If I remember right, Levis is an American company, all our groceries are grown or produced in this country, even our house was constructed by American construction workers (They may have even been union members), so what’s your point? I just said some of the reasons people by foreign products. It may behouve you to know that our KIA cars were made in their plants in America, by American workers. Ergo, I’m not talking out “both sides” and you have, as usual, jumped to conclusions. Get off of the lib, gay loving, baby killing, marxist, union bandwagon and come back to reality. FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

        • james karalis

We need a goverment like 1933 Germany Germany done great from 1933 to 1939 .

      • Steve

GM is a another leach bleeding our government for every dime… We own GM but will never get the millions we gave them back due to their lack of leadership… The real Americans are the ones NOT believing oDumba at his word the real Americans see the truth… The Liberals are so brain washed they can’t see the forrest for all the tree’s.

Eddie,47 has got to be for IQ. Manson has offered his services, that is a fact and not made up. It just shows how the mouth flies open before the saw dust is lighted. The first few lines of every post will warn you whom you are dealing with. When it starts out with no facts or name calling, you can bet your last money it’s one from the party of the jack ass.

      • JIBBS

I thought you were retired from the union, but it must be hard to part ways with your union thug buddie’s. Ford didn’t need a bail out, but by all mean’s enjoy your gm car that we all helped you buy!

      • meteorlady

Sorry but until GM pays back every single cent they “borrowed” from me as a taxpayer, I will not support them or their over paid union members.

Here a small quote from the New York Times:

“For Mexico, the recent groundbreaking for a new $650 million auto factory was worth celebrating. President Vicente Fox and other dignitaries attended the event. Local executives from General Motors, the investor, flew in to the central state of San Luis San Luis Potosí, where the assembly plant now under construction is expected to eventually employ up to 1,800 people and churn out as many as 160,000 compact cars a year.”

        • http://naver sook young

Why can’t they bring those jobs to somewhere in America? Since they were given money by the president, which is unconstitutional, shouldn’t they pay us back with the money and some more jobs to go with it? Thank you.

          Sook Young
          Wife of the Samurai

          • meteorlady

They don’t stay here because wages in Mexico are about $3.50 per hour for experienced workers. Here for union workers just their wages are $27.00 per hour and their benefits are another $15 to $10 per hours. Then add on the 37% corporate tax and you have the perfect storm for companies to move out of here.

I agree though since they still owe us money they should have paid us back before investing in another country. Now maybe Eddie will understand why I won’t by any GM car at all.

At least KIA and other foreign car companies are building plants over here to get our business. They will reap the rewards for that.

          • http://naver sook young

Thank you for the information meteorlady. I don’t understand much about unions, except the Nurses Association, and the differences they have for pay and benefits. You’re also right about KIA and others comming here for our business. We own a KIA Sephia and it cost half as much as a car made by an American company. We also get great gas mileage. I guess the cost difference is because these plants don’t have any unions? If so, I’ll keep buying from companies that put performance, gas milage, and quality first and not unions. Thank you.

            Sook Young
            Wife of the Samurai

          • Eddie47d

I don’t find fault with those who buy a foreign car that is built better. Craftsmanship is important but it is the Conservatives,Corporations and oil companies who kept American car companies from producing higher gas mileage vehicles. Don’t blame the unions for something that is a much bigger factor. Oil companies had to keep gas guzzlers on the road to make profits and the Republicans backed them up all the way.Democrats who advocated higher gas mileage were and still are shot down (voted against).Corporates in foreign countries don’t pay themselves the enormous salaries American CEOs make. Almost every corporate failure in our country can be traced to exorbitant executive pay, bonuses and pensions. From Enron,GM,or Lehman Brothers. Unions are small potatoes compared to the robber barons of today’s corporate world.

          • http://naver sook young

I agree with you about the low gas mileage that American cars get these days. One reason they are like this is that the average shopper doesn’t take gas mileage into account. So many SUV’s are on the road, no matter who makes them, and I’m always told that they like the power or they are good for moving two children around. We have four children and we move them in our cars very easily. So, though I may agree that the unions aren’t totally responsible, also that the industries you mentioned are also responsible, but you have to understand that the average consumer is to blame also. Why won’t Americans buy cars that run on electricity, LPG, and so on? Thank you.

/so–let them build a plant in mexico. if mexican are coming here–who’s gonna work the plant-the hamas??

          • WayneT

I wonder if they will take our union workers to Mexico and out thm to work???? If so, they will not make $27.00 per hour.

      • Thamera

for all of your outcry and demonization of corporate America Eddie47d, I am surprised at your comments. I for one, didn’t favor the massive bailout to substandard GM…I don’t know anyone that did, except for you.

        • WayneT

I certainly did not like to see the tax payers have to bail out GM either. It was not the tax payers fault that this corporation ran into financial problems. Let’s face it, it was the union who took down GM, and they expected the other hard working tax payers to bail them out. They should have filed for bankruptcy and worked themselves out of this financial crisis. I just heard today that GM stock was down aroud $31.00 and before the tax payers could ever break even, it would have to be a $50.00 value. They said something that the talk was the government was going to sell their stock. Att this rate the tax payers would lose around $12 billion dollars. I think Obama wants to get rid of this monster as it is going to be a weight around his neck when he is in the full swing of his campaign. I certainly hope that this weight is heavy enougn to take him down. This country cannot stand another 4 years of Obamanomics. Thank the Good Lord that we got enought Tea Party Congressmen in this year to hold Obama down. Those Democratic, Communist Liberals what eve you want to call them, would have spoiled this country in Obama’s first term. Let fire Obama in 202.

          • http://htcinternet williegt

          meteorlady,

Thanks for the article. I sent it to everybody so they could be as PO’d as I am! But after I sent it I thought, “who can blame them”? If they can pay $3.00 per hour as opposed to union wages at least 10 times that, add in the taxes they have to pay here & all the idiotic government regulations, why wouldn’t they move to Mexico? It’s not right when so many Americans are out of work, but I blame the greedy union thugs & our overbearing, over-taxing, over-regulating, thieving government! AND the progressives want to tax the “big evil corporations” that provide jobs, even more (except their “pet” – GE)! They are intentionally pushing corporations out of the country to “share the wealth” & we’re allowing it to happen!

I’ve lost most of my biggest customers to outsourcing to India & Pakistan & I’m a real estate title abstractor! How they can do a thorough title search on property in the US from the other side of the globe without ever going to the courthouses is beyond me!?! For monthly fees, I can do a lot of work on line now, but I still have to get documents from the courts & they will NOT fax them. I don’t make much per search anymore due to the competition; so it’s not like I’m “breaking the companies”. I make half the amount I made when I went independent 17 years ago; so I have to do twice the work (if I can get it) to barely survive! If it weren’t for foreclosures, I’d be starving with no place to live & work! Sad, but true!

This administration doesn’t care that millions of Americans are without jobs, losing their homes & doing without necessities. It’s about “redistributing the wealth” with the WORLD – like O’Dumbo giving billions of our money for Brazilian oil drilling & refineries but not allowing drilling or building more refineries here, & then buying the Brazilian oil!

If the auto manufacturers close plants here & take them to Mexico, it will be another “crisis” that this administration “won’t let go to waste”. This will probably be the straw that breaks the “eagle’s” back (we don’t have “camels”) & the crisis that will finish off the US. They don’t want to just “SHARE the wealth”. They want to sink us to the level of third world countries to “punish us” for being the greatest, most compassionate & generous country on the planet! Makes me furious!!!

Oh well, Happy Easter! We may not have long to celebrate the resurrection of Christ openly under our dictatorship!

          • Vic

The proposition that GM has a right to move their manufacturing where there’s better conditions for the business would be right if GM still was a private corporation. But it’s not. GM is de facto a government enterprise and as such has to operate within US borders and employ americans first.

            Happy Easter!

        • WayneT

We need a way to get all Americans on board and boycott any manufacturer that moves out of the country. Of course we know why they are going there; to get away from the unions. The unions are going to have to start a better dialogue with the unions before all manufacturing companies are gone from this country. You unions members had better take heed. After you have driven all the corporations out of this country, you will have to work at McDonalds for minimum wages. This will, and can happen.

          • http://htcinternet williegt

the main reason unions were formed was people being unfairly fired. unfortunately unions were taking over by the underground thugs with there on agenda. i say the he** with unions–why pay somebody to work that is as straight as a country road.i say clean-up the unions>>

        • WayneT

Maybe the Libs on this forum will head to Mexico to get a job with GM. Wonder how much they will make, $3.50 per hour???? Jovi and Eddie47d ar you folks going down to work? Ha. Why would the unions want GM to build a plant in Mexico. Is Obama behind this too? I would not be a bit surprised that he is.

      • barbm

i have a saturn, eddie, does that count? oh yeah, it’s not worth much because in about 8 years they won’t be providing parts for it any more. it’s only 3 years old. :(

Hard not to bad mouth GM after the billions in bailouts given by Joe Q Public, and then still giving their inept management millions in non deserved bonuses. It is great to “Buy American”, but you can’t tell an American without a score card. Put your money in a good quality product. Any purchase helps!

I won’t be buying a Mexican GM car. They are junk just like everything else is that is made in Mexico, or China. Remember the poisonour baby food, the lead in their painted toy, poisonous dog food, bad drywall, and a lot of other things that China has shipped over to us. Let’s face it, our government is comprised of a bunch of idiots. They constantly allow this to happen so do yiu think they have you, or your families safety in mind. Maybe it has something to do with all the money we owe China. emember folks, we can put all the blame on the president, and Congress for the mess we are in. Because Jason you directed it at a certain person and that makes it a personal attack. I was making a generalization about a certain group, so it’s not a personal attack. You liberals really need to grow up. Thank you.

          • Jason

Oh, so you were making a sweeping statement that all liberals aren’t mature and rational; making them inferior to you. You were attacking a whole group of people. You so proved my point. Until you come to the conclusion that your way of thinking isn’t superior to others, you will NEVER be a loving christian by your actions. You way remain in arrogance. Not very pretty.

          • http://naver sook young

Sorry Jason, but you are the one that is making himself sound superior to others. How is it that you say things about being Christian, but you don’t act like one? I think you just took this opportunity to attack someone and their faith. Christian bashing is hate speech. People, like you, tend to have low self esteem, intelligence, morals, and are jealous of other people’s accomplishments. You still haven’t answered how do you know I’m a Korean? Sorry, I’ve been an American citizen for almost a year, thus I’m not a Korean. Please tell the truth when you post. Thank you.

          • Jason

You once again have proven my point how self-important you are, just by your response. By saying that: “People, like you, tend to have low self esteem, intelligence, morals, and are jealous of other people’s accomplishments.” Again, you are being arrogant and haughty. I said: “Until you come to the conclusion that your way of thinking isn’t superior to others, you will NEVER be a loving christian”. That isn’t Christian bashing or attacking your faith. It is simply, advice. You apparently enjoy twisting my words to suit yourself.

You asked how I know you’re Korean. I thought Sook was a Korean name. What I correct in my assumption? You said: “I’ve been an American citizen for almost a year, thus I’m not a Korean.” Why would you not still be Korean as well? I was born an American. I became a Canadian citizen in 2006. I have dual citizenship. I don’t have to give up being an American citizen.

You said: “Please tell the truth when you post”. So, you are now calling my a liar. That’s not a very nice thing to accuse someone of doing.

          • http://naver samurai

OK “Jason”, we both know that you’re not a Christian, so let’s just knock off the nonsense. If you think my wife is wrong in what she said, well boo hoo. Well, here it is!

To me it’s the story written below the documents (explains how Hawaii has a registration) that adds fuel to the fire. No, I’m not a “birther”. At this point, it doesn’t matter anymore.

Here it is, folks! The document we have been waiting for!
Now if only SOMEONE in Congress or the Supreme Court will act on this!

Spread this around…..if these documents are as authentic as they certainly seem to be,
Obama is NOT qualified to be our President and he sits in the White House illegally!

This is what Obama has spent almost $2M (so far) to hide.

Here’s a close-up of the top of the document where you can plainly read his name and his parent’s names, etc….

A British history buff was asked if he could find out who the colonial registrar was for Mombasa in 1961.
After only a few minutes of research, he called back and said “Sir Edward F. Lavender†Note the same name
near the bottom of the photo above.
Source(s): “ Kenya Dominion Record 4667 Australian library.”

And here’s a close-up of the bottom of the document where you can read “Coast Providence of Kenya ” and the
official signature of the Deputy Registrar…..

The above document is a “Certified Copy of Registration of Birth”, but below is a copy of the actual Certificate of Birth…
the real-deal legal kind of certificate.

The Mombasa Registrar of Births has testified that Obama’s birth certificate from Coast Province General Hospital in
Mombasa is genuine. This copy was obtained by Lucas Smith through the help of a Kenyan Colonel who recently got it
directly from the Coast General Hospital in Mombasa , Kenya . Here it is…..

    Note the footprint!!

The local Muslim Imam in Mombasa named Barack with his Muslim middle name Hussein so his official name on this
certificate is Barack Hussein Obama II.

The grandmother of Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. reveals the story of his birth in Mombasa , Kenya , a seaport,
after his mother suffered labor pains while swimming at ocean beach in Mombasa
    ……

“On August 4, 1961 Obama’s mother, father and grandmother were attending a Muslim festival in Mombasa , Kenya .
Mother had been refused entry to airplanes due to her nine month pregnancy. It was a hot August day at the festival so
the Obama’s went to the beach to cool off. While swimming in the ocean his mother experienced labor pains so was
    rushed to the Coast Provincial
General Hospital , Mombasa , Kenya where Obama was born a few hours later at 7:21 pm on August 4, 1961
(what a sad day for the USA !). Four days later his mother flew to Hawaii and registered his birth in Honolulu
as a certificate of live birth which omitted the place and hospital of birth.”

Letter from Kitau in Mombasa , Kenya ……

“I happen to be Kenyan. I was born 1 month before Obama at Mombasa medical center. I am a teacher here at the
MM Shaw Primary School in Kenya . I compared my birth certificate to the one that has been put out by Taitz and mine is
exactly the same. I even have the same registrar and format. The type is identical. I am by nature a skeptical person.
I teach science here and challenge most things that cannot be proven. So I went to an official registrar today and pulled up
the picture on the web. They magnified it and determined it to be authentic. There is even a plaque with Registrar Lavenders
name on it as he was a Brit and was in charge of the Registrar office from 1959 until January of 1964. The reason the date on
the certificate says republic of Kenya is that we were a republic when the “copy” of the original was ordered.
I stress the word “copy”. My copy also has republic of Kenya . So what you say is true about Kenya not being a republic
at the time of Obama’s birth, however it was a republic when the copy was ordered.

The birth certificate is genuine. I assure you it will be authenticated by a forensic auditor. We are very proud Obama was born here.
We have a shrine for him and there are many people who remember his birth here as he had a white mother.
They are being interviewed now by one of your media outlets.

Fortunately they even have pictures of his parents with him immediately after his birth at the Mombasa hospital with the
    hospital in the back ground.

It will be a proud day for us when it is proven that he was born here and a Kenyan became the most powerful man in the world.

I encourage anyone to come here and visit. I will be happy to take you and show you the pictures at the hospital myself as
well as my document and many others that are identical to what Taitz posted. God Bless. Kitau”

The video should not make General Motors out to be a bad company. It’s true The Chevy Cruise Eco model gets about 42 MPG, as well as the Honda HYBRID. All of these silly jokes about GM leaves the impression that nobody should buy their cars. But the truth is GM is BACK with some kick tail quality, looks and mileage that is often the highest of any car in their class, such as the Chevy Cruise. G.M. paid off the first installment off earlier than expected, and they are selling cars as fast as they can build them. It seems most buyers claim the greatly improved quality and the highest gas mileage in the fleet, in which some all gasoline engines are getting the same MPG as some Hybrids. $4.00 a gallon for a gallon of 87 Octane greatly helps G.M. sell more cars, such as The Cruise Eco, as well, simply because they get extremely good gas mileage.

The next time somebody wants to poke fun at a company that has been taking a beating for decades now, I hope they realize they still have thousands of workers in the mid-west plus many out sourced made parts such as the ones made in my new home state of Kentucky. A lot of people’s jobs are on the line and so far they have done very well at paying off their loan. Last, I hope nobody blames the UAW because the union caved in and did not stand in the way of anything, thus the use of temporarily workers and start off base pay of $14 for some of their hardest dirty production jobs.

Please don’t pick on G.M. because they truly are building high quality cars and trucks now, The only reason Ford was not in the same boat was because they took out a huge private loan just before the economy hit the fan in 2008. Remember that when you talk bad and joke about a company as large as G.M. please do not forget how un-American it appears. If we support or troops over seas then it is equally as important to support the American Workers before China takes us over.

I was raised in and near Flint Michigan and thousands of people have paid the price of GM’s previous junk cars of the 1970′s. However they are now as good as any other car, very good mileage, best quality I have ever seen from an American car company and here in the Midwest their small cars (Cobalt, Cobalt XFE, and now it’s The Cruise/Cruise Eco) are some of the most popular cars on the roads today and high gas price seem to have most buyers looking at the estimated Mileage before they even look at the sticker price. G.M. is selling their like crazy in the Midwest like never before, which explains their sudden reduction in advertising. But when a person trashes an American car company the size of G.M, and the UAW caved in and new production workers start out about $14 am hour- a far cry from the previous $30 an hour wages.

It is in every American’s interest for G.M. to survive and keep paying their government loan off. They are so confident that their new cars and trucks are of such high quality that they have raised the prices on most cars and previous discounts given to their workers and retired workers has been greatly slashed.

I come from a G.M. family and have lived in the ghetto of Flint Michigan’s north side in which the sudden loss of jobs has most people selling drugs to make a living. If you support America it only makes sense to NOT “dog” American cars and trucks. The quality and gas mileage, and safety tests have many imports beat.

Please do not make jokes that can impact thousands of workers if enough people start to believe such unprovoked attacks on General Motor’s quality, which is a match for an other car or truck in it’s price range. Long gone are the days of buying a new car every 100,000 miles, now G.M.’s cars and trucks are a match for the competition, and many people prefer them in the mid-west.

I don’t guess you heard that the stockholders for GM got pennies on the Dollar for their shares of GM Stock, and the unions lost almost nothing?

The GM management did more damage then the unions workers and they still received there bonuses. The workers are not the problem the culture of the auto industry was ” us verses them” do to what went on in the 20 and 30. Management and Workers are now starting to work a little more towards a shared goal. Which is profits

The stockholders were fair game, they took a risk. The bondholders, those people who purchased corporate GM bonds did not. They were guaranteed under nearly 250 years of bankruptcy law that they were first in line for any distribution of assetts. Obama overturned that, and the bondholders got about 9% and the unions got about 62%. And about where the product is made, GM produces more autos in China than it does in the USA.

then you go buy the chevy volt for 43,000 with a 7,500 rebate courtesy of the american taxpayer. on top of it it gets you 100 miles on a charge. what a bargain. how about those gm workers caught several times drinking alcohol while they were sup[posed to be making cars. i will never buy another gm car for what they have done to our country. the unions are just as guilty as obama. my last 4 cars were gm but i enphasize last 4.

Ford took out a large private loan just before the economy hit the fan in 2008. Ford is a private company and it appears they seen the economy crisis well ahead of most of Americans.

        • JR INDY

Guess you did not check their balance sheet very closely. They had the assets to more than cover the loan with a few billion left over. Hey, I bought a few thousand shares of Ford at $2.11 in 2008- how’s that GM stock that opened at $35 per doing now?

        • JIBBS

According to everthing I could find about Ford, they did not take out a private loan. Could you provide some FACTS to your claim? Here is what I found from Wikipedia. No mention of a “private loan” that I can see.

In December 2006, the company raised its borrowing capacity to about $25 billion, placing substantially all corporate assets as collateral to secure the line of credit.[19] Chairman Bill Ford has stated that “bankruptcy is not an option”.[20] In order to control its skyrocketing labor costs (the most expensive in the world), the company and the United Auto Workers, representing approximately 46,000 hourly workers in North America, agreed to a historic contract settlement in November 2007 giving the company a substantial break in terms of its ongoing retiree health care costs and other economic issues. The agreement includes the establishment of a company-funded, independently run Voluntary Employee Beneficiary Association (VEBA) trust to shift the burden of retiree health care from the company’s books, thereby improving its balance sheet. This arrangement took effect on January 1, 2010. As a sign of its currently strong cash position, Ford contributed its entire current liability (estimated at approximately US$5.5 Billion as of December 31, 2009) to the VEBA in cash, and also pre-paid US$500 Million of its future liabilities to the fund. The agreement also gives hourly workers the job security they were seeking by having the company commit to substantial investments in most of its factories.

The automaker reported the largest annual loss in company history in 2006 of $12.7 billion,[21] and estimated that it would not return to profitability until 2009.[22] However, Ford surprised Wall Street in the second quarter of 2007 by posting a $750 million profit. Despite the gains, the company finished the year with a $2.7 billion loss, largely attributed to finance restructuring at Volvo.[23]

On June 2, 2008, Ford sold its Jaguar and Land Rover operations to Tata Motors for $2.3 billion.[24][25]

In January 2008, Ford launched a website listing the ten Built Ford Tough rules as well as a series of webisodes that parodied the TV show COPS.

During November 2008, Ford, together with Chrysler and General Motors, sought financial aid at Congressional hearings in Washington D.C. in the face of worsening conditions caused by the automotive industry crisis. The three companies presented action plans for the sustainability of the industry.[26] The Detroit based automakers were unsuccessful at obtaining assistance through Congressional legislation. GM and Chrysler later received assistance through the Executive Branch from the T.A.R.P. funding provisions.[27] On December 19, the cost of credit default swaps to insure the debt of Ford was 68 percent the sum insured for five years in addition to annual payments of 5 percent. That means it costs $6.8 million paid upfront to insure $10 million in debt, in addition to payments of $500,000 per year.[28] In January 2009, Ford announced a $14.6 billion loss in the preceding year, making 2008 its worst year in history. Still, the company claimed to have sufficient liquidity to fund its business plans and thus, did not ask for government aid. Through April 2009, Ford’s strategy of debt for equity exchanges, erased $9.9 B in liabilities (28% of its total), in order to leverage its cash position.[29] These actions yielded Ford a $2.7 billion profit in fiscal year 2009, the company’s first full-year profit in four years.[30]

“The Way Forward”Main article: The Way Forward
In the latter half of 2005, Chairman Bill Ford asked newly appointed Ford Americas Division President Mark Fields to develop a plan to return the company to profitability. Fields previewed the Plan, dubbed The Way Forward, at the December 7, 2005 board meeting of the company; and it was unveiled to the public on January 23, 2006. “The Way Forward” includes resizing the company to match current market realities, dropping some unprofitable and inefficient models, consolidating production lines, and shutting fourteen factories and cutting 30,000 jobs.[31] These cutbacks are consistent with Ford’s roughly 25% decline in U.S. automotive market share since the mid-late 1990s.

In 2010, Ford earned a net profit of $6.6 billion and reduced its debt from $33.6 billion to $14.5 billion lowering interest payments by $1 billion following its 2009 net profit of $2.7 billion.[7][8]. In the U.S., the F-Series is the best selling vehicle for 2010. Ford sold 528,349 F-Series trucks during the year, a 27.7% increase over 2009, out of a total sales of 1.9 million vehicles, or every one out of four vehicles Ford sold. Trucks sales accounts for a big slice of Ford’s profits, according to USA Today.[32] Ford’s realignment also includes the sale of its wholly owned subsidiary, Hertz Rent-a-Car to a private equity group for $15 billion in cash and debt acquisition. The sale was completed on December 22, 2005. A 50-50 joint venture with Mahindra & Mahindra Limited of India, called Mahindra Ford India, Limited (MIFL), ended with Ford buying out Mahindra’s remaining stake in the company in 2005.[33] Ford had previously upped its stake to 72% in 1998.[34]

    • LadyMorgi

The reason FORD did not have to make a deal with the Devil was that they had negotiated and bought out the UAW interests a year before. Older union workers were bought out and many of the jobs that should have been roboticized were, because they were sources of much injury from repetative motion to humans, and the new workers make “good” wages, but not the $30.00 an hour the unions were demanding, and they now don’t have to pay millions in disability to workers for years and years for something a robot can do better without damage.

Ford, like always, had a better idea, GM, like always, did not.

    • CJM

Sorry, Terry, but it’s already been shown that GMC has LIED about repayment on the bailout monies, so don’t even go there with that one. As for purchasing a new car, I will buy MADE IN AMERICA BY COMPANIES THAT DID NOT ACCEPT THE BAILOUT…and if that converts me to a Ford patron, fine. I have always been a Chevy person, but not a Government Made Car supporter. Shame on you; you present yourself as a turncoat. Bust the unions, put them out of business forever! • http://personalliberty rockdoc01

Ok Terry. Let’s leave the unions out of this. I drive a BMW and an Audi -two of the best cars made and made in germany where the Unions are also strong. Yet, the quality between a GM, Chrysler, or Ford and either of these two makes are a world apart. Both made by unions, but very different in quality. FYI, I rent cars frequently so I do drive American made cars and I recently had to drive a Dodge car for two months while one of our cars was being repaired due to inattentiveness of another driver driving a American-made Sebring. )another piece of junk). His car was totaled, but not our Audi which still required body work. The Dodge was horrible. Can you please explain the differences in quality when both are made by union workers? Until, I find an american car that I really like driving and can see the qulaity in it, I will continue to buy foreign made. That does not make me less American, actually it makes me more american because I use and believe in the free market. May the best product win! By the way, I once owned a Chevy balzer and i spent more money keeping that vehicle on the road that I ever have with a foreign car.

For God’s sake, yes the union was too greedy in the past I agree. But no person is worth what G.M.’s top executives get. I have a large book of everything the union gave in too. The UAW was too greedy in the past, on this we agree. But NOW G.M. execs has all but busted the union, workers that were promised health care and other things at early retirement ages took the bulk of the hit. They have broken the UAW, don’t worry about their union getting in the way, as they are powerless right now to do anything and I would not be surprised if the someday vote the UAW out, if it’s legal to do such a thing.

BTW: I have only worked at outsource parts in Kentucky and I made $8.00 an hour. The media hyped up all of this nonsense and I know many people that retired from there are still work there. Forget about the UAW because they did not get anything they wanted to the best of my knowledge. Some UAW workers blame Obama for all of their lost wages etc… But the retires such as my father were the ones hit the hardest and they can NOT vote, so everyone took it out hard on the retires. They lost everything from health care, Dental, and a book of cuts back at my house.

Yes I agree the UAW asked for too much, but many years ago we had a larger middle class income bracket and many other people were earning wages as high as what G.M. was paying. It’s said to hear about customers boycotting and sending their money over seas to spite what the UAW won for their customers. After NAFTA became law it was the last straw for G.M. as they could not compete with cars built in almost third world countries. If we continue to be selfish the next job loss might be your own. Peace.

    <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Here we go, don't blame the Unions.
How many people can say that they started their job just as important as auto making at 30 bucks an hour + tons of benefits ?
Don't you realize that it's a vicious circle the higher auto workers get paid the higher the price of a car will be and the poor smuck won't be able to afford it or will, like many, go in debt up to their eye balls.
I blame the unions for many things: high prices for their goods, lack of quality, their contribution to laziness, the fleecing of unions dues to contribute to the corruption within our government and buy our elected officials posts, the coercion of workers and threats to force them to vote democrat, the bastards are nothing but thugs and they certainly don't help the common folks.
As for the 42 miles per gallons this ECO vehicle supposedly will get, there is nothing new about that ,they have had the technology to make this type of car for decades but it wasn't profitable enough now that they're cornered they're putting it out but it still will cost $18,895 as a starting price.
As for your comment about the 4 bucks a gallon helping GM sell more cars, you're just showing what liberalism is all about we get ours so to hell with yours.

Ponder what the fraud in chief said the other day about immigrants in praising the people who came through Ellis Island and “Crossed the Rio Grande”. I couldn’t believe I just heard him say that! If that is a great thing for this country then why in the hell do we need any TSA in airports? Open the borders and let everyone in!

Oh yea, and that stupid Boeing thought they could man their new plant in S. Carolina. What fools. Oblama’s gubmint officials will dictate who gets hired and where.

  • http://www.songplanet/jammer Terry Bates

I made $8.00 an hour working in an SMT electronics division that sent 80% of their parts to G.M. up in Michigan. You are dead wrong in blaming the union for what they have done recently. Most people that make parts for G.M. make wages close to $9.00 an hour, and any newly hired production workers in a G.M. plant (less for temps) make $14 an hour with drastic cuts in health care. The union is NOT the problem now, it is all of the bosses that are over paid and get large bonuses even when they lose market share.

    • JIBBS

I was in a union for over 15 years, I know what their about. Pure thugs, have you been in a union? If you want to bitch about making only $8.00 an hout, you should get yourself educated. Don’t blame the employer, you agreed to take the job at the wage offered.

    • Eddie47d

Terry; $9.00 an hour is not a living wage and some Americans have to live on even less. Some on this site leave out upper management and always the CEO’s. They glorify the wealthy in management and ignore the severe damages that they have put on their own company. The American worker is beaten down and they want to slice out another piece of their hide.It just isn’t right.

      • JIBBS

When you can buy a house in kentucky for $10,000, and everything is cheaper than up north and a job is only worth $9.00 an hour, what do you expext? Did she mention her education level? I’m sorry to burst you bubble, but not all jobs pay or can pay high wages. Education is a great way to get a better job, it’s a choice.

They should have let GM go bankrupt so they could have emerged with a better working business model. The fact that Obama is selling the stock so cheaply shows what bad investment GM really is. Let the market decide. Government unjustly hurts the poor and middle class with their socialist policies that leads to inflation. Government and socialism pure and simple is destroying the middle class by destroying the value of the dollar.

        • JR INDY

Your last sentence sums up the REAL problem nicely. When the Dems took over in 2008, they knew what was going on and still added 33% more debt in 2 years. Not a conspiracy type but did was this intentional or are they just THAT stupid?

          • JR INDY

Delete the did in the last sentence. Sorry.

          • Bruce D.

They all want the same thing. Give away tax payer dollars in exchange for the power of their position and the reward it brings. For a few I am sure it is a conspiracy but for most it is nothing more than the mutual agreement to spend taxpayer money in exchange for personal gain. It is a natural tendency that doesn’t need a lot of conspiratorial planning.

          • Eileen

            Hey Jr,
The White House had been run by Democrats for 2 years before President
George Bush left office. His hands were tied because the Dem’s controlled the Senate. I have been running my business for 3 years now. I had done all my homework to prepare for opening my Company and knew that I needed money to last at least 3 to 5 years. I also weighed in how much I would loose due to not being paid for my services. A long story short…..my doors will be closed by September unless things change. No one is helping me keep my company open and the Fed’s are worthless. I will have no debt to anyone but myself when it is over. When I managed the last company I worked for, I took money out of my pocket all the time to “Gift” my workers because they were the ones who kept the doors open. I did it based on sales and the more they made for me…the more I could give them. I also gave more to the ones that made the most and so forth. You didn’t get gifts because you were a tree standing in the woods! They knew me and knew how fair I was. They didn’t know how good they had it until I left. I was told they missed my “Easter Egg Hunts” that I would leave for them. ( I had no choice…they had to work Easter Sunday. I had it built into my contract that I wouldn’t work certain Holidays although I did have to from time to time.) I worked 12 hour shifts easily for months at a time and when someone stepped up to the plate when they didn’t have to…I always showed my appreciation with some kind of gift or money. Why don’t the BIG COMPANIES RUN THEIR BUSINESSES THAT WAY??? I AM THE CEO OF MY COMPANY. IF I DO A BAD JOB I STILL HAVE TO PAY THE PEOPLE WHO WORK FOR ME. IF I DO A GOOD JOB I SHOULD REAP THE BENIFITS. I CAN’T, FOR THE LIFE OF ME, FIGURE OUT WHY THESE IDIOTS ARE GETTING HUGE MONITARY PACKAGES FOR A JOB HORRIBLY DONE!!! ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY LEAVE BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN FIRED!!! COULD SOMEONE PLEASE EXPLAIN THAT TO ME??? AND…WHY SHOULD ANYONE BONUS FOR NOT MAKING THEIR GOALS??? I ALWAYS HAD TO DO BETTER THAN (LY) WHICH IS LAST YEARS FIGURES. IF I DIDN’T MAKE GOAL…I MADE NOTHING, AND NO ONE ELSE MADE BONUS’ EITHER! We have become a nation of throwing our pearls to Swine. We will never learn and it’s already to late.

      • Thamera

Eddie47d, here you go again…perhaps you could tell us who exactly you are talking about “that glorifies the wealthy in management and the CEO’s?” As far as I can tell you and people like Terry are the ones supporting them, afterall, you are “glorifying” a failed company like GM and are apparently in support of the taxpayers bailing them out. You are either very naive or just hopelessly optimistic to think that the government is going to do a better job and btw, guess what, those in management along with the CEO’s are still making the big money, but now “we the people” get to pay for it! Gee thanks!

        • Eddie47d

Why are you still allowing those CEOs to rake in so much money? They are rewarded whether they win or loose. That puts you on the loosing side Thamera. If the company went out of business they would still be filthy rich and could survive while the workers would be hung out like cattle in a slaughter house. The anti-employee winner take all folks like you deserve the crappy economy we have. American my azz!!

          • WayneT

I think most of us will agree with you on this one, Eddie. The CEO’s are making too damn much money. I think eveyone should make a decent living wage as well. I do feel that the unions have abused their power in the past. The board of directors are responsible for giving these CEO’s all that money. I guess they scratch each others backs.

“The principle feature of American liberalism is sanctimoniousness. By loudly denouncing all bad things – war and hunger and date rape – liberals testify to their own terrific goodness. More important, they promote themselves to membership in a self-selecting elite of those who care deeply about such things…It’s a kind of natural aristocracy, and the wonderful thing about this aristocracy is that you don’t have to be brave, smart, strong, or even lucky to join it, you just have to be liberal.” J. P. O’Rourke. This may not be on subject, but it really describes the mindset of the average American liberal. As is evident by the postings on this site. Thank you.

Always thinking they are better than the other person. As the middle class implodes and our standard of living weakens they gloat. They write to Washington and tell them to destroy good paying jobs that cut the middle class out of the picture.Soon we will be lower middle class/poor vs. upper middle class/rich and no in between. The America we knew back in the 50′s and 60′s are fast disappearing.

You admit that the unions are not the problem NOW, so in your opinion they were only the problem then which led to the loss of jobs in the U.S and the decline of profit ?
As for the big bonuses for the top guys, the share holders are to blame , they vote and should let the CEO’s get away with such practices but don’t put the burden on the tax payers…

      • http://www.songplanet/jammer Terry Bates

Mick I started out at $8.00 an hour in 2002 and was making about $9.23 at the time they folded up the shop in 2008. Honestly most people making most of the parts for G.M. cars are close to mim wage. Here in Kentucky they only hire the fastest workers, which seems to me to be about 5% of those that get hired can keep up because they expect humans to work as fast or faster than robots do.

Also I was NOT complaining about my $8.00 an hour which I was making for the first couple years, and got small raises later. Still $9.23 is a far cry from what the media will lead us to believe auto makers make. More people work in these out source plants than in all of G.M. We have no union of course.

        • Mick

You make parts,,see what they make on the assembly line……..

    Terry,

I am astounded at your threat to me that I cannot live without you, your Union and the formerly incompetent management that make up GM, now that you owe me and my fellow taxpayers money that may never be paid back.

I suggest you write a letter to your mortgage holder telling them you will not pay back your loan. Tell them they cannot live without you and everything will be all right.

  • http://www.songplanet/jammer Terry Bates

Hey, no personal insults, I made no “threat”. G.M. has already paid the first payment back to the government well ahead of it’s due date. Nobody can speak for what may or may not happen in the FUTURE, but I would not stretch things as far to assume the will default on their low interest loan (a loan which can be paid back, NOT a bailout or handout).

I think both parties are bought and paid for. You can see how the two work together destroying this great country. The Repubs for example, twice they gave it to the Dems. The first time when Buchannan was running against Clinton and who do they give the nomination to, DOLE! The second time against Obama Ron Paul would of handed Obama his head in a debate, but instead they give it to McCain. The Republicans had the two biggest idiots running against the two slimiest Dems, sounds to me like they are working together. Wake up people and demand our government to get back to the Constitution.

Unions are costly to all Americans; they have out-lived their usefulness and should be disbanded entirely. There are now laws that protect the American worker at both Federal and State levels. Terry is right in that their union jobs did not produce greater wages for most workers, especially in the blue-coller fields, but their union dues put many of the union officers on easy street and into a life-style of expensive elegance–the unions have not represented the workers for the past 30 years and for that reason alone, they are no longer needed. Bust the unions, put them Out of Business.

Really?!? That says a lot about your need to lighten up and enjoy life a little more. We all need more laughter.
            ___________________________________________________________________

Thanks for the tip Jason. Feel free to go ahead and giggle your way right into communism with a nice latte in your hand….

Personally, I’ll be keeping my eyes on the target.

Liberal  - Used to mean : “Free from narrow prejudice; open minded, especially, open to the reception of new ideas or proposals of reform.”. Now means “Full of hatred for past Ideas, and completely intolerant of the people that still believe in them. Socialist.” Most liberal arguments basically boil down to “Shut up in the name of open-mindedness and free speech!”. The liberal observes evils in society, and then attempts to remedy the problem with an even greater evil.

Open-Minded -. Liberals who vigorously attack anyone that isn’t as closed-minded as themselves.

Welfare – 3rd party theft and a liberal invention. Welfare is the act of stealing form the workers to feed the lazy and uneducated.

Narrow Minded Bigot – One who does not speak Newspeak as their sole language. Individuals who are oldthinkers.

Educational System – An opportunity for liberal special interest groups to re-program children. The prime obstacle to this agenda is the fact that local and state governments run the schools. This makes it difficult to enact these programs over the whole nation, since you have to convince every legislature and every local school board that you are right.

Narrow Minded Bigot – One who does not speak Newspeak as their sole language. Individuals who are oldthinkers.

I can even laugh at myself….

Did you hear on the news about the two gay guys who attacked a woman?

One held her down, while the other one did her hair! :-)

      • Frank

I can imagine a 6th grader telling any other type of joke than a political one. That wouldn’t be natural. It would be learned.

      • http://naver samurai

OK, then how about a Nancy Pelosi joke?

A man washed up on a deserted island after a shipwreck. The only other survivors were a sheep and a sheepdog. The three of them got into the habit of going down to the beach every evening to watch the sunset.

One particular evening, the sky was fiery red with beautiful cirrus clouds and the breeze was warm and gentle. It was a perfect night for romance. As they sat there, the sheep started looking better and better to the lonely man. Soon, he leaned over and put his arm around the sheep.

But the sheepdog, ever protective of the sheep, growled fiercely until the man backed away.

A few weeks passed by and, lo and behold, there was another shipwreck. The only survivor was Nancy Pelosi.

That evening, the man took Nancy to watch the sunset. It was another beautiful tropical evening – perfect for romance. Before long, the man started to get “those feelings” again.

He fough the urges as long as he could, but he finally gave in, moved ever closer to Nancy and told her that he hadn’t had sex for months.

Nancy batted her long, lovely eyelashes and asked if there was anything she could do to help.

“Yes”, he said, “Take the dog for a walk.”

Now that was funny, seeing that she couldn’t even get a desperate man to be with her. Ha, ha, ha, ha! FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

    Terry,
No football player, no baseball player, no basketball player are worth half of what they make.Only a half hearted fool would continue
to help stroke their egos. They could care less about you, all they care about is how much money they can make and how much you can inflate their egos. They and their agents, backed by a union, laugh all the way to the bank, while you scrape and save, or go into debt, just to be able to go and make an ass out of yourself and yell your stupid head off. You want to watch real sports and it dosen`t cost
you a arm and a leg,go and watch yor kids play at every level If you don`t have kids, go and watch some one eles kids. Happy Easter!!!!

  • http://charden@neo.rr.com Charles

Ron I agree to a point with you. However, over 50 thousand workers of
GE pay taxes to the Federal,State and whatever tax that may be around.
I would be more than happy to give every business that has 50 thousand
workers in good jobs a no tax brake.I think you would see a lot of good jobs comming back to this country. You would also have to do something for the mid and small size business`s. I haven`t worked that out yet. Can you believe how prosperous this country would
become. At the same time we should get rid of the EPA and cut the size of the goverment.

    • JC

Get rid of the EPA, the IRS, BATFE, ICE,….and on and on…
None of them are doing the job they’re supposed to be doing anyway.

      • JIBBS

yeah, the BATFE are the one’s selling guns to the cartels, only in America. Just another government run corporation.

      • http://htcinternet williegt

i agree JC. there are toooo many other programs the goverment can elimenate to metion plus the ones george soros has started as well that or communist minded as well. wish he would end up on the most wanted list and put the DOG on his azz–:)

  • http://com i41

Worthless overpaid sports player and idoit Holley weird smucks, only are able to make the money because most idoits in the this country need to be entertained. Never went to a movie since I was high school and realized it my earned money being peed away not my folks. At least with drinking it tasted good going down and it taught me to not get so toasted I tossed my cookies. Idoits that spens several thousands of dollars to go watch a bunch of convicted felon run and jump around for a couple of hours, shows how stupid people are to pay for nothing producive or useful in life. That is why unions and the marxist/communist socialists have such a grip on the dumbocrap loving idoits in society, they think they are getting something for nothing.

    • Karolyn

Geez, i41, people can’t even go to the movies? Very rarely do I go, but what is wrong with somebody going to the movies once in a while? Sounds like you could use a good comedy!

      • http://naver samurai

I think that he means that going to the movies is OK, but the movies these morons churn out aren’t worth seeing. There is more violence in some of these movies then my troops and I saw in Iraq. Now that is bad. Happy Easter! FOR GOD AND COUNTRY!

    • Jay

The garbage hollywood churns out ain’t worth my hard earned money, nor my precious time! I don’t miss going to the movies. Good riddance to bad rubbish!!!

  • C.W.Crosby

Ben , I hate to impose on your time , but these little reports are beautiful , and considering the massive amount of material these intellectually starved clowns provide you , you should be able to double the length of your report and give us all a real treat . Thanks !!
