Cave In: House Republicans Stand Down With Proposal To End Standoff

Republican leaders submitted a proposal Friday to temporarily raise the Federal debt limit for six weeks and fund the government through mid-December, consenting to President Barack Obama’s demand that the current $16.7 trillion Federal debt rise further while preserving funding for Obamacare.

The Obamacare medical device tax would be repealed under the House GOP agreement, and there’s some language that strengthens the income verification process for Obamacare recipients who want health care subsidies.

The Republicans also managed to wrest some unspecified sequestration tweaks from the deal, but the agreement is a total capitulation to the no-compromise positions of Obama and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), who from the beginning have maintained unconditionally that the debt limit must rise and Obamacare must be funded before Senate Democrats would vote to approve any bill the House sends over that attempts to end the shutdown.

The fact that Republicans in the House and Senate aren’t communicating over variations in the proposals they’ve developed this week has only solidified Obama’s negotiating position. The Hill compared the President’s leverage Friday afternoon to that of an “aloof shopper,” following a meeting with GOP Senators that revealed to Obama that most of them had virtually no idea what their partisan colleagues in the House were proposing.

The eminent GOP surrender leaves Republicans with little political leverage heading into future long-term funding talks as the six-week temporary measure counts down. Late Friday, Obama and Democratic leaders hadn’t agreed to a hard deal, even with all the concessions – a sign that Democrats smell blood and believe they can “no compromise” even further, all the way up to the point of getting exactly what they demanded, free from any concessions whatsoever, from the very first day of the shutdown.

If that happens, the GOP will have squandered whatever credibility it has established throughout this debt fight, because Obama’s speechwriters will have only to say, “Republicans just wasted two weeks of Washington’s time, closed down vital government services and attacked our health plan – and now they don’t have anything to show for it.”

And, lacking meaningful solutions from the GOP to curb the government’s credit-card problem or the disastrous rollout of a regressive socialist state-backed insurance law, most Americans will agree with him.

Personal Liberty

Ben Bullard

Reconciling the concept of individual sovereignty with conscientious participation in the modern American political process is a continuing preoccupation for staff writer Ben Bullard. A former community newspaper writer, Bullard has closely observed the manner in which well-meaning small-town politicians and policy makers often accept, unthinkingly, their increasingly marginal role in shaping the quality of their own lives, as well as those of the people whom they serve. He argues that American public policy is plagued by inscrutable and corrupt motives on a national scale, a fundamental problem which individuals, families and communities must strive to solve. This, he argues, can be achieved only as Americans rediscover the principal role each citizen plays in enriching the welfare of our Republic.

I think that it is time to a massive recall on all the RINOs!

    • podunk1

Correction to storys going around – they didn’t blink or pass wind, It’s real yucky & running down their legs. RECALL THE RINOS Five years of unrestrained traitorous spending approval is enough. GET THEM OUT!!!! RECALL WORKS! Yes, dump the progressive democrats too.

      • Liz

It worked in Colorado, why are other states afraid to do it?

        • podunk1

What you say defines the path to the solution.
We simply need a couple of good leaders who know how to file and insure that the efforts aren’t lost in a corrupt court decision.

There are more than enough to make it happen once it starts. The process of explaining why, etc in a recall would rip the progressives apart. Anyone who works is being destroyed by the progressives – liberal and conservative alike. Same is true of those who lost it all or are damned to the inner-city concentration camps – zero opportunity to work their way out & be free of “lawlessness – violence – & bein indentured to the government slop mill.

The republicans have sold us out once agsin.I have lost all confidence in them.No longer will I support them.

    • Dave

We have had a one party system with two teams in this country for decades now. The RINOsaurs are only there to make it appear to the conservative voter that someone is fighting for them, when in fact the fix is in.

  • Mike Inman

Told everyone before the shutdown, GOP would cave in first. We need to close out the GOP and get a constitutional group of candidates to vote for. I never again will donate $$$ to GOP. Individuals but not the GOP!

Not a surprising move at all from those spineless idiots! And so the curtain has descended on another act. Time to tear up our programs and get on out of the theater folks. The entire troupe of actors in this Kabuki show need to be ousted.

Boy ! you don’t give up ~ do you?

There will always be a new world in the making ~ for if not ~ we’ve got a huge problem , like the dark ages or a plague or catastrophic events of biblical proportion. ~ and even so, that too is a “new world in the making”.

Look at the Tea party as it continues to rise up out of the ashes of defeat and non-relevance , over and over again and again.

This temping by the the fires of rebirth is in so ways, what keeps us strong.

Japan didn’t approve of the restrictions being placed on it, in regards to resources and commerce. ~ So they trying to kill us off, while talking policy~ and just like these Tea Party Senators, ~ Japan had no back -up plan for Victory ~ It was an “All or Nothing” strategy, left to raid poorly protected outpost as they retreated back to their tiny island.

A whole lot of attitude but not much, on good sense and the ability to “count” just like these Tea Party Senators and congressmen and women. ~~

My advise, ~~ learn to count and take stock in the numbers before ever committing to some pie in the sky , knee jerk notion, ~ just because you are “Offended” with what’s out of your control.

      • Oliver_K_Manuel

        Deerinwater,

If you have any training in physical and political sciences, you may want to read Professor Kuroda’s autobiography of his life at the Imperial University of Tokyo during WWII:

        http://www.omatumr.com/abstracts2005/PKKAutobiography.pdf

Olherwise, you may want to study the forecast about a new tyrannical government that George Orwell started writing in 1946: http://www.online-literature.com/orwell/1984/

        • Deerinwater

          “In early

1941, Japanese investigators had no way of knowing that the Berkeley group was

bombarding uranium with deuterons and discovering the important isotopes of element

94: 238Pu and 239Pu. It was highly significant that a manuscript entitled “Radioactive

element 94 from deuterons on uranium” by Seaborg and co-workers, which was

submitted on January 28, 1941, did not appear until five years later in the April 1, 1946

issue of Physical Review. The investigators in Tokyo were not aware of the fact that they

had been soundly beaten by American scientists in the competition for discovering new

elements heavier than uranium, almost a year before Pearl Harbor.”

~ Great read ~ Thanks ~ enjoyed it Oliver ~ not a scholar ~ but grasp the significance of this personal accounting. ~ I love history, bio’s and science.

The old master was hoping to fast track the heavy water.

If we’d been two years behind ~ history might read differently today.

    • Job

Oliver? Are you saying that god lives in the Sun?

      • Oliver_K_Manuel

Science has nothing to say about religion. Measurements and observations show that every atom, life and world in the solar system came from the Sun’s pulsar core and may still be connected to it by invisible force fields, including gravitational, electrical, magnetic, nuclear and perhaps many others that have not been identified and named.

    • Oliver_K_Manuel

Yes, we are in the “NEW WORLD ORDER.”

Your childish misspelling of my name is an example of the effort to distract the public from this fact.

      • KG

Just wondering if you were paying attention!

        • Deerinwater

good posting KG, ~ but don’t resort to toying with title , ~ it’s beneath you and I think much better of you then that ~ I really do.

I’m not completely clear as to what Oliver is attempting to convey. ~ but it is heavy and full of substance as he insist that we back up ~ and look at things with a fresh pair of eyes.

          • KG

He drives me crazy with the dramatic language around Nuclear weapons. I have ask him previously and he has given the same cryptic messages that leave you scratching you head.

I apologize for any insult I may have given Dr. Manuel. I was in a jocular mood and may have forgotten my manners.

I asked him to please remove his Alex Jones mask and just tell us what you are saying. That’s all.

            Peace. Love. Texas.

          • Deerinwater

I do understand, ~ KG ~ he strikes me peculiar but peculiar is not a bad thing. ~ and what few exceptionally bight people that I have met over my lifetime ~ were all very peculiar .

It’s a curse to be too bright. ~ the intense focus can “burn” and scar and leave one unhappy and miserable and especially those found without purpose or direction to focus.

Where this fits Mr Oliver K Manuel , I don’t know ~ but clearly he has a rich story to tell. ~ while he teases us with it in a playful manner.

I just don’t know what his focus actually is as most understand nuclear fusion accounts for live as we know it to be. ~ Is it an act of the Divine? ~ I would think it would qualify. Is it God him/herself? ~ could be. ~ but why might it matter or be a concern. as it is what it is. ~

Gravity is what we need to understand, and until we do, ~ combustion will rule the day.

I live not too far from Stephenville Texas or Dublin Texas to be more concise.

In 2008 , there was much afoot down there. ~

There is a better way to do our heavy lifting ~ we’ve seen it at work. Zero to 1900 mph in 2 seconds. ~ if gravity was a factor as we understand it to be, ~ that a G force 47.

i wouldn’t do it myself ~ the fear of pi$$ing you off is just too great.

The time has come to DEFUND THE GOP! I’m gonna make my contributions to Freedomworks who will just give the campaign money to the Conservative candidates. Boehner, McConnell, McCain, Grahm, and the like are just Democrats in disguise! We the people must never forget these bums.

    • Liz

It’s not that they are Democrats, these people have never had to deal with a Dictator. The “my way or the highway” attitude of the present day progressives is different from anything they have ever had to deal with. They have given in to this Administration every time and now it may be too late to reverse course, especially with the media constantly blaming Republicans. This Administration has shown how mean and nasty it intends to get and it leaves them nowhere to go or way to bargain. As long as O’Bama has Reid, Pelosi and Holder in position along with Kagan and Sotomyer in the Supreme Court he is in control and he knows it. The Republicans in government positions and Conservative voters should have rallied sooner, the last debate before his second term, his smug expression facing Romney with the Democrat paid moderator should have told everyone something. Of course it didn’t and now we have this mess, Romney may not have been much better but when he was Governor he did not accept a salary while in office. Does anyone believe O’Bama and his minions would do that? Pelosi screamed when they downsized her jet!

It was never in doubt that they would cave. They practically committed suicide AGAIN after taking such a heavy hit in 1995 doing the exact same thing. Few parties have shown this consistent level of stupidity. If the Tea Party now bolts from the mainstream Republican Party, huge benefits will accrue to a united Democratic Party which will now face 2 amputated and bloodied segments of their former enemies. Easy pickings for 2014 and 2016.

Why fight a law that passed, a people that re elected the man who pushed the law into being and a supreme court that essentially upheld it? The fight or act of one was doomed Fridaym the start made the right lifek petty selfish and self servingw.

  • Cashu

This disgusting development is EXACTLY why I haven’t been a republican for over a decade now. When I first realized that republicans will never repeal anything the democrats have legislated, I also realized there is no appreciable difference between the two major parties, and that they are both working against my liberties and rights as a private citizen.

Have you noticed that democrats go out on a political limb to enact the most outrageous curtailments of freedom and our “inalienable” rights? And that republicans make all kinds of political hay out of promising if we elect them that they will immediately repeal said atrocious legislation? And that, when those republicans are elected on that promise, that they suddenly find it will be so much more expedient to “fix” what’s “wrong” with what the democrats passed, abandoning their solemn promise to repeal?

It ALWAYS works exactly that way, with the net result being an inexorable slide to the left in America that works whether either party is in power. Therein lies the reason the Tea Party exists and is making leaps and strides in the political arena of ideas. The Tea Party is the only faction that is for Constitutional restraint on Leviathan. It’s the only entity that actually does anything to slow that slide to the left and the only one that is uncomfortable with the idea of a country enslaved to the federal government.

What we’re seeing today is exactly what the republicans have done in every power struggle in the past five decades. They ultimately capitulate to the democrats. It’s never the other way around.

Support your Tea Party candidates and tell the republicans to go to he//. Nobody should support those who don’t have the courage of their convictions, and especially those who make no apology for abject subservience to the opposition EVERY TIME. Republicans are just nothing but disgusting power brokers for the democrats…

Congratulations conservative/Republicans, President Obama, once again, just ate your lunch. You make it sooooooooooooo easy for him to partake.

I want the old Republican Party back. They put country first over party. They were socially progressive and genuinely fiscally conservative. Your current crop of “leaders” let the bat-crap-crazies into the tent and they are engaging in Party civil war. You are not going to survive if you keep supporting the ignorant extremists in your party. Cruz in not your friend. He’s a blowhard only interesting in helping Cruz.

Look inward and start by fixing yourselves instead of denying reality, blaming others and engaging in scapegoating. Get the wackos out of your party. You are wrong on women’s issues. Your are wrong on immigration. You are wrong on universal heath care. You are wrong on climate change. You are wrong on background checks to keep criminals, the mentally ill, and the young from having a gun. You are wrong on voting rights. You are wrong on Social Security and Medicare. You are wrong on sequestration and one-sided cuts in spending to improve the economy. You are wrong on public education. The list goes on and on.

Your party is sooooooooooo stupid that your elected representatives shut down the government to deny health care TO THE VERY PEOPLE WHO ARE PROVIDING THEM WITH THEIR HEALTH CARE! You don’t have to worry about medical bankruptcy anymore? Thank Obama. You don’t have to worry about being thrown off you medical insurance because of a preexisting condition? Thank Obama. You don’t have to worry about being denied medical coverage because of annual or lifetime caps? Thank Obama. You get a rebate from your insurance carrier if they do not spend 80% of your premium on your health care. Thank Obama. If you are young and healthy and don’t need to get medical insurance, you know, the way FOX is propagandizing the issue for you, guess again. What happens if you get hit by a bus tomorrow? Got hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay your medical expenses? I’m sure Fox will pay your bills for you. Ask them now. When they stop laughing and say no, go to the exchanges and buy some reasonably priced medical insurance. No one wants to use medical insurance, or any kind of insurance, but it sure is a handy thing to have in case you need it.

It’s worth repeating because this country is better off when we have two viable competing parties. Here it is:

Wake up Conservative/Republicans and look at yourself in the
mirror. The highest poverty rates, highest illiteracy rates, highest rates of
Federal assistance, less physically fit, less prone to pay income tax, less
responsible for their sexual behavior, more prone to inflict harm on themselves and others through smoking, drunk driving, and misuse of firearms, and more prone to free ride on the healthcare system are those who live in the RED STATES! In other words, Conservatives!

      DavidL,

      Congratulations
Progressive/Democrats, President Obama, once again, proceeded down the path toward national bankruptcy.

I want the old fiscally responsible Democratic Party back. Bring back Truman, even Kennedy. He put the country first over
ideology. They were socially responsive and genuinely fiscally
conservative. Your current crop of “leaders” are bat-crap-crazy about social justice and wealth redistribution. There is no Party civil war because most recognize that giving away stuff and encouraging dependency gets them re-elected. You are probably going to survive until you run out of other peoples money to spend. Obama is in not your friend and Reid is only a blowhard interested in protecting his privilage.

Look inward and start by fixing yourselves instead of denying
reality, blaming others and living the life of a VICTIM. Get the wackos out
of your party. You are wrong on women’s issues. Your are wrong on
immigration. You are wrong on universal heath care. You are wrong on
climate change. You are wrong on unlimited background checks to keep anyone except criminals, the mentally ill, and the young from having a gun. You are wrong on voting rights. You are wrong on Social Security and Medicare. You are wrong on sequestration and one-sided cuts in spending to improve the economy. You are wrong on public education. Your are wrong to regulate everything and everyone in order to limit personal liberty and increase the size and control of an incredibly incompetent and petulant central goverment. The list goes on and on.

Your party is sooooooooooo stupid that your elected representatives and president are willing to shut down the government to ensure that the nationalization of the health insurance industry is completed and that the quality and availability of health care is centrally controlled by a bureaucracy that is neither efficient or competent.

Thank Obama. You don’t have to worry about being thrown off your medical insurance because of a preexisting condition. But then again, you won’t be able to use your insurance because no competent doctors will accept the plan.

Thank Obama. You don’t have to worry about being denied medical coverage because of annual or lifetime caps only about whether the central bureaucracy will approve the payment for your hip replacement based on age and risk profile.

Thank Obama. You get a rebate from your insurance carrier if they do not spend 80% of your premium on your health care until the insurance carrier withdraws from the market and you have to get your rebate from the federal government. Good Luck.

Thank Obama. If you are young and healthy you don’t need to get medical insurance. You can wait until you are sick or get hit by a bus because the insurance company must issue regardless of your condition. Look at the Massachussetts Health Insurance market since they introduced guarantee issue, everyone, especially the young wait until they get sick before they get insurance. You’ll save thousands of dollars on federally mandated health insurance regardless of the fines if you sign up when you need it. CNN/CBS/ABC/NBC will never have to pay your bills for you. Alternatively, you could go to the exchanges and buy some really expensive medical insurance covering things that would never impact you. No one wants to use medical insurance, or any kind of insurance, but it sure is a handy thing to have in case you need it. Fortunately, now you only have to buy it when you need it, its a typical progressive free lunch.

It’s worth repeating because this country is better off when we have two viable competing parties. Here it is:

Wake up Progressive/Democrats and look at yourself in the
mirror. The highest poverty rates, highest illiteracy rates, highest rates of
Federal assistance, less physically fit, less prone to pay income tax, less
responsible for their sexual behavior, more prone to inflict harm on themselves and others through smoking pot, drunk driving, and mistrust of firearms, and more prone to free ride on the healthcare system are those who live in the BLUE STATES! In other words, Progressives and their dependents!

That is OK just make your deals and lie cheat and steal now but that is all going to come to a grinding halt soon ! Take note of the storms and disasters , The earthquakes and volcanoes . Guess what your evil leadership and power will be destroyed and you will get your reward. Jesus will return and the signs he spoke of are all around us but the rulers of this earth are too busy grabbing for more power and wealth to see. This time he will not be the meek messenger but the warrior king who will be all powerful. Laugh all you want but soon my friend your laughter will turn to screams for mercy but too late ! Too late.

Right, Jesus will return and He will have no mercy for those monsters who dared to give health care to the poor! He will slaughter them all in hell fire for eternity! But for those who said: “Give the poor nothing! Let them and their children rot in misery till they die bleeding in the streets,” those true Christians Jesus will reward! Hallelujah!

We need a Real Tea Party , then may be the people could weed out the socialist communism that has invaded are government in Washington D.C.

    • jaybird

It would be good if we could have the Tea Party as a 3rd party that could get their message out, so that all the people knew what they stand for. The problem with 3rd parties is that they do not have enough money backing them to get their message out to everybody, and if I don’t know where they stand I will not vote for them. See my post approx. 4 above.

    • antiliberal00

Party’s are what got us into this mess. Think outside the box as the party system has proven that people are more likely to vote along party lines instead of listening to voters.

    • jaybird

The problem with that is if the person running cannot get his message out, not enough people will vote for him and the Demo will win. We are voting on Nov 4th for Gov. in Va and neither candidate is very good. The Dem. Terry McAuliffe is always on the edge of a scandal or involved in one and worked in the Clinton Adm.held no real job, Ken Cuccinelli (Constitutional Lawyer) has made some questionable decisions but also some very good ones as Attorney Gen. of Va and I feel he is the better of the two, we have Robert Sarvis (lawyer) as a Libertarian whom we know very little about, no/little public appearances in most of state. This is going to cost the Republican the election because he is a small number behind and Sarvis has approx. 8% if they changed their vote the Rep. would win.

If you can’t get your message out, do not run because the Dems. will always win. I wish it were different.

      • ONLYJB1

You poor thing! McAuliffe, now there’s a rare bird! I have kind of followed this race from a distance and if he wins you will have in my estimation a political nutjob!
Problem. The democrats stand as one, as a party. They are liberals with socialist leanings.
The Republican party has 3 tiers. Conservative, moderate and progressive. Progressive being no better than a socialist liberal. The moderate running scared always looking for a way to hold onto their office and power. They look at and call the Conservatives radical. What is so radical about wanting to cut back government and it’s spending. What is wrong with the desire to return to our Constitutional way of government and there is nothing wrong with wanting to return to a government that governs for the people!

To me these social communist within the democratic party are the radicals!

        • Deerinwater

and to me, ~ it is the Dixiecrat’s that have hitched a ride on the back of the GOP having no train of their own ~ that has created a dysfunction in due process of government.

      • Deerinwater

Well Sir , ~ you described the conditions in Virginia rather well.

What you might reconsider is the way the oppositions goes about takes every opportunity to create scandal or rumor of scandal while there may not actually be one to cloud your decision and final choice.

  • antiliberal00

Dont worry Barack will HarmYa will defund Medicare and Social Security to fund the worthless Obamacare and drive your premiums into the sky (already done).
    Stay healthy in poverty.

  • red55bird

Is it to little to late a question many in America our asking, media would have you believe that citizens want this Obamacare. There is this feeling in America now that Government of the people has stop working for the people and only working for themselves. We now have Republicans attacking Tea Party Republicans for trying to stop ACA from destroying America. People who voted for Obama our now waking up to this monster that will kill middle class America as we know it. We see citizens looking at each other and it’s fear in most eyes of people, knowing this is not going to end well for them and their children and their children, the promise from one man to fundamentally transform America, the lost of jobs, and the dreams of a better future for their children. This is no mistake America, this is a well thought out program by this Administration to transform America into Socialism, we watch as one man with the help of both Congress and the Senate ram shot a law unto 79% of the people who did not won’t it. Just yesterday a poll came out that 60% of the people were ask, said we need to vote them all out of office and replace them. America there is no future for us or your children when we spend more money then what we take in, we as a nation will default on our debt, just a 4% rise in interest rates on the already 17 trillion will force Government to raise taxes on all citizens to pay just the interest of this massive debt. Harry Reid last week wants another trillion added to the debt for next year, and Congress will Cave In.

    • jaybird

There is a war on the Tea Party by the “old guard” Republicans. I just read an article that they are going to mount a campaign to get regular Republican politicians to run against Tea Party backed politicians. In every interview by a reporter they are criticizing the Tea Party backed Rep., it is an all out war on the Tea Party. Everyone needs to e-mail the RNC and complain, I am only backing the candidate that supports the people. I have told them to try and recruit military retirees.

  • Roy Fredrichsen

Some time ago, Congress put term limits on the presidential office an coneniently did NOT do it for congress. Now we see career politicians (Harry Reid for one) that a getting senile and exercising his power to dictate which bills submitted by the house of representative can be considered by the senate. This is why NO progress is being made. It’s past time to put term limits on congress, too.

  • paul cruz

It is time for a revolution against the Government . But know that DHS is preparing for this because they have purchased 1.7 billion rounds of hollow point ammo ,enough to kill every person in the US five times. And fema has purchased 420 million MRE`s not to mention all the Fema camps the have built in our country. Built with our tax dollars . The one in alaska can house 2 million people and that`s only one. What about the other 200 plus of them. Please know that DHS and FEMA are preparing for war. The president has asked military leaders if they would fire on US citizens. It is time to go back to a government for the people by the people. Not a government with dictator who thinks he can make all the rules and will soon impose martial law. Just remember he dosen`t care about the people he wants to control them.

They only try to assassinate the good Presidents. Not saying JFK or that his brother would have been good Presidents but they weren’t islamocentric and they weren’t wholesale marxists.

Today, that’s about the best you can expect, given how far left the republic-rats have gone.

        • Deerinwater

hmm? ~ so Lincoln or Reagan fit better into the “good president” category ?

~ Some would say Jackson ~ but then ~ the assassination angle might not apply. ~ Harding? ~ the same.

We have been blessed with many good presidents that engaged in many good fights, ~ some won and some lose over the years.

This feeling of some need for hopeless despair is predestined for failure. ~

Our problem today are not about a single president, ~ but a system of government that seems to refuse to be lead in a fashion that severs a majority of it’s people as it seems to be commission to the task of serving a few at the cost of the many.

It was the GOP that has started us down this recent road, a road of capitalistic expansion and employing gunboat diplomacy to ensure future energy markets (profits) ~ which to date has ended bad and at a great loss in both time, material and human resources for not only our nation but the whole world as well. ~

We have created a vacuum of power in nations that now fight to fill them , destabilize regions that are now seen as “Up for grabs”. ~ while all the hawks and corporate interest, ~ wring their hands, ~ and cry , “Put me in Coach”! ~we must act!

it is only in the aftermath, `does the stark reality of a GOP failure to bring these ambitious goals to conclusion in some timely manner has spending became an overriding concern.

The clean-up crew, ` is now being instructed to do more ~ and make do with less while the clean -up is not going fast enough.

Rather then focus on the real issues, ~ the issues of false ambitions and a redirecting of long term national goals,. ~ The extreme far right, ~ is “NOW” concerned about the “debatable” perception that some Americans receiving something that they don’t deserve to have and the misspending of money.

You are a Dixiecrat! you are not a Republican. You’ve never been a Republican but just a self sustaining social conservative that’s depended on a social structure that allows you to not feel that you are not occupying the bottom.

          • regulus30

well Bob I often “HIRE” people like you to certify my large structural projects as I submit my architecturals to planning boards before i do heavy lifts and structural revisions.

depending upon the breadth and scope of your stall as to their relative qualifications in evaluating my plans as to the lift or revisions I may or may not be able to use your firm. often civil engineers were not ‘STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS'; BUT i USE THE MOST QUALIFIED TO substantiate my projects.

They spent millions over a period of 9 months to restrict any reform.

Big oil had done much the same thing ~earlier during climate change talk and the fear of carbon credit.

Other then those two occasions ~ what few pro bloggers that might have been here, their numbers have been very small.

lack of competition in the health industry has been created by the federal bureaucracy [interstate regulations] create a false restricted business model;;a carbon tax is insane and invades every aspect of YOUR life, the planet is composed of CARBON; I learned that in “BIO-CHEMISTRY”; IT IS WAY TO REGULATE YOUR EVERY MOVE. no good friend;;sorry.

            Deerinwater:

            Small correction.

Before Oamacare, the health care industry was regulated by each state. If a state wanted to authorize an out of state health insurance company to sell policies in the state it could do so.

Government shutdown poll: GOP disapproval grows

While voters are angry with everyone in Washington, Republicans continue to see the brunt of the blame and growing disapproval, according to a new poll out Monday.

Seventy-four percent of Americans disapprove of the way Republicans in Congress are handling negotiations over the budget, the Washington Post-ABC News poll shows. This is up four points from last week’s poll and up 11 points since the start of the shutdown.

Democrats also see a majority of Americans disapproving how they are handling the negotiations, but that number remained steady from last week’s poll at 61 percent. This is a smaller climb from 56 percent at the start of the shutdown.

Republicans are also struggling with support from within their own party. The Washington Post reports that 49 percent of self-identified Republicans approve and 47 percent disapprove of the job Republican lawmakers are doing. Alternatively, more than six in 10 Democrats approve of the job Democratic members are doing.

Obama as well saw a decline in his approval rating with 53 percent of Americans now disapproving of how he is handling negotiations. This is up two points since last week and three points since the start of the shutdown.

The poll was conducted Oct. 9-13 and surveyed 1,005 adults with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
