Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney will officially announce his candidacy for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination today in New Hampshire. According to The Associated Press, which obtained excerpts of the speech, his announcement speech will include a fiery indictment of President Barack Obama’s economic policy: “Barack Obama has failed America.”

Tuesday night, the House rejected a proposal to raise the debt limit without cutting spending. The bill’s defeat, 318-97, was orchestrated by the very party that proposed it. “This vote, a vote based on legislation I have introduced, will and must fail,” said the bill’s chief sponsor, Ways and Means Chairman Dave Camp (R-Mich.).
