Demographers at the National Institute for Demographic Studies (INED) predict the world population will surpass 7 billion people this year, with increased birth rates in Africa offsetting birth rate drops elsewhere. According to a recent study released by the INED, population growth worldwide will steadily increase until the total stabilizes between 9 billion and 10 billion by the end of the century.
According to a new report, the child poverty rate in America increased by 18 percent between 2000 and 2009, which is essentially a return to the same level as the 1990s. This shows a significant decline in economic well-being for low-income children and families.
On Monday, Texas Governor and recently declared Republican Presidential candidate Rick Perry drew fire for essentially accusing Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke of treason, a capital offense: “Printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous, or treasonous, in my opinion,” Perry said.
Poll results released Thursday from Gallup show that just 26 percent of Americans approve of President Barack Obama’s handling of the economy, which is a new low for the President. The President’s approval rating on the economy has sunk 11 points since the polling agency last measured it in mid-May. Previously, his lowest approval rating on the economy was 35 percent in November 2010.
