War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength, the unemployment rate dropped to 6.7 percent so more people are working, the recovery is full bore. It’s all doublethink. It’s the new normal. Call it cognitive dissonance.
The people who take it upon themselves to impose a planned society on everyone else don’t have much to say about freedom. Why would they? It’s a wild card, and it belongs to the individual, whom they consider merely an obstacle to the so-called progress of the group.
When one thinks of a prison nation, North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela or some Third World backwater or banana republic dictatorship country might spring to mind. But the truth is the No. 1 prison nation is the United States.
