Outside the Asylum
Most people might not give a second thought to the recent decision by the Los Angeles City Council to ban non-reusable grocery bags. But the LA grocery bag ban is an excellent example of liberalism’s ultimate goal: total, pervasive and permanent control over the people.
I have never been much for writing indignant notes to my — or any — Congressman. Having spent the bulk of my professional career in and around the political class, I am well aware that most of them on both sides of the aisle can at least pretend to have concern for people, but few of them care about individuals.
I’ve found myself musing on the politically pathological behavior displayed of late by President Barack Obama and his accomplices. Their reactions under electoral pressure of their own creation remind me of a drug dealer with two strikes on his record getting popped for selling crack to an 8-year-old.
Panic led President Barack Obama to wade blindly into the case of George Zimmerman. After all, virtually every Democrat worth his weight in fraudulently cast ballots shifted his gaze from his beloved savior to joining the Zimmerman lynch mob.
Under different circumstances, I might feel bad for Solicitor General of the United States Donald Verrilli. Charged with the duty of defending the bureaucratic behemoth known as Obamacare — in front of the highest court in the land, no less — Verrilli became a mosquito with a law degree, slamming headlong into the windshield of superior Constitutional scholars.
The self-serving attempts by some to insert race into the Trayvon Martin tragedy (and it IS a tragedy—for everyone involved) is particularly odious. A young black man is dead, killed by a Hispanic man who may or may not have been acting in self-defense. That’s ALWAYS terrible; for the shooter and the “shootee” alike. What everyone seems to forget when they turn these cases into public referenda is that both are PEOPLE; with families and friends.
Responding defensively to the Democrats’ baseless charges that the GOP is fighting a war on women is a colossal waste of time. For conservatives to guide Team America to pay dirt, we must get the offense on the field. Touchdowns are hard to come by if you never leave the shadow of your own goalposts.
I’m fairly surprised the Rush Limbaugh/Sandra Fluke/Bill Maher/Democrat hypocrisy “scandal” still has legs. Not that I expected the Democrats were any more likely to give up on this Cirque de la Stupidité, but getting Democrats to understand their own folly is a fool’s errand, like wresting a bone away from my dog.
“Game Change”is a two-hour character assassination of Sarah Palin. Interestingly, the thinking viewer can detect an unintended subtext: If Palin is as far out of her depth as she is portrayed, then she is actually a hapless dupe victimized by callous politicos. While most liberals might cheer such a characterization, she can’t be a victim and the glowering monster they usually describe.
While the Democrats have continued to shriek about Rush Limbaugh’s mildly inappropriate — albeit accurate — remarks about a fake “activist” offering fake “testimony” at a fake “hearing,” the situation in the Mideast has heated up faster than Democratic Party leader Bill Maher during coupon night at a Nevada brothel.
