In the past dozen years, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) — also known as food stamps — has grown from a $17 billion a year Federal expenditure to $78 billion a year. Food stamp recruiters have sign-up quotas of 150 per month.
People in America who are getting free food stamps consider it a right rather than a privilege. This attitude will be very bad when the food stamp system fails. This was proved last weekend when the computer system that runs the Electronic Benefits Transfer system crashed in 17 States.
There may be some interesting activity in and around the Washington, D.C., cesspool this weekend: a planned trucker protest, the possible closure of the interstates around the capital city, a likely barricade burst-through and the scheduled Million Vet March on the Memorials.
Psychopathic, uncaring government functionaries operating under direct orders from the Barack Obama regime are evicting homeowners whose homes sit on Federal land. The evictions are reportedly made necessary by the theater-of-the-absurd “government shutdown.”
I have told you often that a tell-tale sign of a failing regime is increased controls over the people. Now look around. The regime’s failure is accelerating at breakneck speed and should be obvious to everyone.
The Barack Obama regime is proving to be the most arrogant, narcissistic, petty, malevolent, insidious, baleful, sinister and criminal regime in U.S. history. The regime’s use of the so-called government shutdown (which isn’t really) has exposed its sophistry and mendacity for all to see.
As part of the government shutdown, national parks and Federal buildings were closed down Tuesday. But the metal barricades that blocked access to the World War II Memorial proved of little consequence to a group of WWII veterans from Mississippi on an Honor Flight tour.
On Tuesday, Durham, N.C., police were looking for a man who burglarized a home and later committed an armed robbery. They found a suspect who exchanged gunfire with officers and then ran onto a college campus, right past a sign announcing the area was gun-free.
Yesterday, Secretary of State John Kerry signed the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty, despite warnings from 130 members of Congress and a vote of 53-46 in the Senate earlier this year to “uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.”
Federal Reserve Vice Chairman Janet Yellen is said to be President Barack Obama’s top choice to replace Helicopter Ben Bernanke at the Federal Reserve. Progressives are said to be ecstatic, viewing Yellen as someone who will continue if not double down on Bernanke’s money printing policies. As usual, progressives are missing the point.
